He may assail comments for debate's sake, so speak carefully. Not a brutal class -- 3 very short papers, and he counts 2/3 of the reasonably hard tests. He's written some interesting related stuff.

I love Gaskill's humor and intellect, and always enjoyed lecture. It did seem like we spent more time on curiosities and minutiae than on doctrine; Gaskill's religion courses have a decidedly secular feel. Also, there's a 10-15 page, exhaustively-researched term paper, which seemed excessive for a 2-credit course. Great teacher, decent course.

Good class, I learned a lot. But his tests are ridiculously hard. Like so hard. They weigh heavily on your grade. I took good notes during lecture and put hours into studying for each test and still every time I saw the exam questions I would be so frustrated because they were almost all irrelevant fun facts that were maybe talked about once.

His class was very difficult. It was a two-credit class, but there were so many assignments and things to read. His words were very fast and the class was hard to understand because he talked a lot off topic. He made tests entirely from what he taught in his class, and you have to remember all the details of what he said to get good grades.

Easily the best religion professor and REL class I've had at BYU. Plenty of reading, but that's normal for an REL course. If you just do the daily devotional readings and take really close notes, this class is a breeze. His tests are pretty tough, but even I got a B on the midterm and C on the final and still ended up with an A.
