SUCH LONG AND BORING NOTES, and tests are REALLY hard
Very nice guy, very laid back and very humorous. Don't listen to what the other person below had said. If you come to class two days before the test he gives you a review of whats going to be on it. Just review what he tells you and you should A or B it.
Quite possibly the most boring class ever. He rambles for just about the entire class. His tests aren't bad though.
awesome teacher, take him if you get the chance, his reviews are the test, if you review what he says you will be sure to get a B+ or an A
He is a great guy and very laid back and funny. During the week he basicly reads from the book for your notes. Then a day before test time, hooks you up with what to study. Don't miss class though b/c he takes attendnce and bumps you up a + if u go
A very great professor to have, probably the best I've had at the college. If you can, take him over anyone else!
Excellent teacher, tests are straightforeward. If you show up to class and take notes, you'll do fine. Wish he taught more courses I need.
Lectures are a little boring... but he is a nice, laid back professor. I would recommend.
Great class! No need to even write papers, that was nice!
Great teacher. I had him for both AMH classes! Lectures/exams are very straightforward.
Take this class! no papers to write (he counts your note-taking), go to class for key terms & attendance pts, definately go to test reviews- he tells you exactly whats on the test, lots of extra cedit available!
A nice guy. He tries to help but he is REALLY BORING! He can't complete a sentence without saying "uhh, uhh, umm". It gets annoying real quick. His lectures come straight out of the book. So if you read a lot you can do well. Oh ya, he gives ex
Very laid back and easy going professor. He lets you know what you need to know for the test. Not a hard class. He also offers extra credit.
Great teacher! Very easy class, all you need to do is show up for attendence points and for the review in which he tells you basically everything on the test. I hope to take him again for the second half of history
easy teacher but very boring
I took the summer class and found it very Boring, but easy class if you study the reviews. Very fair with curving test and extra credit. Oh and no papers! (he counts notes)
Boring class but great teacher. Easy to get a good grade. Make sure you stay awake. He counts your notes so you don't have to write papers and he gives you chances for extra credit. Highly recommended.
SO easy!!! no essays to write!!! the tests are really easy too!!! you don't need to read the book, just take notes in class (yes, the only downfall is that you DO need to go to class)
Very easy professor!! Doesnt believe in the gordon rule, so theres no essays! Tests are pretty easy. His tests come straight from the review, so make sure your there on the REVIEW!!
awesome teacher. No papers...doesn't believe in the gordon rule, he just counts your notes. doesn't require you to go to class...but if you miss borry notes you will need them for the teat. read your notes and go to the review day and you will have an A
He is a really nice professor. He gives plenty of chanches for extra credit and does not make you write essays. Just go to class and take notes and you will get a good grade.
so boring it was funny. he reminded me of my grandmother. go to class. write down the notes but if you miss them just get them from a classmate. he gives alot of extra credit. dont think i passed all the tests but got a B in the course. no final....
Give a lot of extra credit!! Tests are not bad if you study. His reviews are exactly like the tests.
Plenty of extra credit, and if you go to review day he'll practically give you the test. Tries to make class a bit less boring, but it doesn't always work. Tends to go off on a tangent every once in a while, but it's amusing. Looks like Einstein w/Oakleys
One of the best teachers you'll ever have. Gives awesome reviews and extra credit. Shows videos and also curves. Do your best to get in his class.
Not hard, study for tests and go to the reviews for a decent grade. Really do study, though, even if just for 2 hours. I got a C on a test I didn't really study for, and it's not hard to do well.
Great teacher, gives extra credit and you get to choose on what subject of American History. Study for the test and you should be fine.
The most frustrating class Ive ever been in! Do not take this class if you dont want to waste your time talking about stuff that's not even related to the material at all.. Very easy if you read the book, but wastes class time like its his job
soooooo easy!
go to class! His tests are somewhat difficult you must read the book but he does give a lot of extra credit.Overall he's a nice old guy,but he will not give you the extra point if you're on the borderline especially if there are no "mitigating circums
Good professor(meaning test), u have to go to class and read the book...he gives extra credit(presentation or points for writing stuff from videos seen on class)I would recommendd u to take him...just watch out for the essay questions on his test
Such an awesome teacher!! Reviews are EXACTLY the same as the test, order and everything!! Gives extra credit for taking notes on videos. Easiest class ever and Goffin is the greatest!:)
he was a really great teacher. he gives lots of extra credit. his tests are exactly like his study guides. take this class!
His teaching style is easy to follow and understand. It's an extremely easy class and although it can be a bit boring and drawn out, if students participate then the class flies. There's no reason not to get an A in this course.
Dr. Goffin is definately the best teacher I have had at UCF, He was the only teacher that I have had that makes the effort to learn his students' names. Great teacher, very knowledgable, gives good reviews. Take his class, I have taken him twice.
Goffin's a good teacher, gets a little boring at times and is an EXTREME liberal and will tell you so! Reviews are exactly like tests, gives good notes, no essays (except a book review) and lots of extra credit opportunities. Good teacher overall, but go to class. Does spot check attendance
Really nice guy, but pretty boring to listen to. Class is easy, but you have to go to get an A and it's not easy listening to him lecture. Doesn't make you write papers though, which is pretty cool.
He is a very nice man but really boring. Test are ok, he offers extra credit. Its hard to learn the material b/c he doesnt make it interesting. I had MIchelle adams and thought her class was much better. Go to the reviews and look stuff up in the book.
Easy class. His reviews are pretty much the same thing as his tests. He gives a lot of random extra credit assignments if you ask him too. A great teacher for American History. Take him.
It wasnt HORRIBLE, but I guarantee there's better. He's a nice teacher, but reallly boring. Youre better off just reading the book cause he really doesnt tell you anything important in the lectures. Offers extra credit tho.
Really nice but a little boring. The class is super easy. I didn't even take notes, just wrote down review and looked up answers in book night before test. I've got a 98 average. Only 2 page book review for Gordon Rule. SO EASY. Do extra credit. It's usually one page on a movie. Tests were ALL MC.
Horrible professor! I didn't know it was possible to be that incredibly boring. You've been warned!
Dr.Goffin is a great professor. Go to class and take notes. His review has everything you need to know for the exam. Also, exams aren't essay exams (you have to write a 2 page book review). He's awesome, but study!
I like American History, so I'm a bit biased. He's a really cool guy, organized and good professor- but if you're not into history, it'll be boring. Tests are a bit difficult, but he curves and offers really good extra credit. Book review is an easy A and counts as test grade. Overall, good class.
Nice guy, lots of extra credit, but be prepared for tests based off of random facts and obscure information.
Tests are really hard!
this is by far the easiest history class ever!!! those who say the tests are hard are the same morons who never show up. he gives you what is on the test at the review before the test. most classes make you write papers and take many quizes. in his class you write a 2 page easy paper and you take 3 tests it doesnt get any easier than that.
this professor needs to retire! I went to every class and still did not learn anything. He is by far the worst teacher I've had at UCF. I mean really, he won't even answer questions you have and doesn't take time to help you. Do not take him..... if you need to, you are now warned!!!!
VERY liberal. if you are a conservative and you let him know it, be prepared for your grade to suffer. tests aren't that hard, lots of extra credit, not a lot of writing. class is VERY boring, and he takes attendance. lectures are disorganized, and he usually rambles on about irrelevant info. good luck trying to stay awake.
EASYYYY! his reviews are EXACTLY the test, word for word AND in order- kind of hard NOT to do well. I studied the night before and got A's on all the tests. Plus, he gives lots of extra credit. Also, im conservative and wrote about it in all my extra credits on the subject, and i got full credit on everything, so the whole liberal crap is BULL
This class truly is easy if you just show up once in a while - he takes random attendence but it doesn't really effect your grade. The lectures are pretty boring though - unless you really like history.
Average professor. His class is relatively easy. Offers a lot of extra credit. Tests are okay, but he curves them. Takes random attendance, but doesn't really affect grade. Does not use the Gordon Rule, so there arent any required writings. Gives key points for every chapter, but still need to read the book. Class is boring, but easy, so you decide
The class is boring but he can be a fun guy. He offers alot of extra credit and curves all the tests.
Pretty good professor. Fair with his grading and he's interested in your learning. Offers extra credit and gives test reviews.
Good teacher. Easy class, just study over the study guide and you will ace it. Does not follow gordon rule so there is not a lot of writing.
Amazing teacher! At first I thought the class would be horrible because the lectures can be boring, but if you read the text before class it is alot more interesting. Make sure you attend the reviews before the tests, they are extremely helpful. He gives extra credit and we had to do a book report but that was easy. Excelent Teacher!!!!
Go to class if you actually want to learn about history. He spot checks attendance but it doesn't actually affect your grade. If you just want to pass the class with an A go to the class before the test he emails you review questions & gives you the answers in class. Check the book for extra info on the review questions and study for an hour or two
very easy class, lectures are extremely boring and kind of useless since he gives you everything u need to know for the tests in the reviews. Only need to go to class for reviews and tests(there are 3), attendance isnt mandatory and he doesnt assign any work. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Nicest old man alive. I found his lectures could be boring but he definitely knows what hes talking about. Great guy one on one as well and can give great insight. Tells you basically whats gonna be on the test the class before. Study the study guide and skim the chapter before class and youre golden.
Not as easy as he used to be. He got in trouble for the types of exam reviews he gave, so he no longer gives reviews that are so detailed and complete. If you don't want to read the book, go to class & he'll tell u what u need to know. If you don't want to go to class.. read the book. Nice man, but class reminded me of high school a little bit.
Pretty easy class. Just go and take notes and skim the book before the exams and you'll be fine. He gives a lot of extra credit and gives a pretty nice test review. Overall, pretty easy teacher and a nice guy. I got an A. He even looks like Albert Einstein!!
Best teacher for AMH 2010/2020. His interpretation of the Gordon Rule is "take a lot of notes". Your grade is comprised of three tests and thats it. If you go to class everyday you will have no problem getting an A w/o studying. He spot checks attendance, and there's an extra credit pres. You can go from B to A if you do this and attend class.
If you like radical left-wing professors that would rather talk about politics than the historical subject matter the class was designed to teach, take this class. I found it irritating and the professor ignorant.
really nice professor. he gives really good reviews that are basically the tests. he is a little boring in class, but honestly is really nice. he gives extra credit which can save your grade. recommend for an easy A if you just show up to class and make an effort to learn
BEWARE, had him last semester and was easy, but was told is going to be much tougher next year. Do not take if at all possible
Extremely easy professor! He is liberal, but then again most professors are, but he really doesn't make his views heard that much. Definitely take him for AMH 2010 or 2020. He gives extra credit AND curves every test. I ended up with a high A!
First of all, if you can imagine what a mix between Einstein and Colonel Sanders would look like you can imagine Dr. Goffin. Hes an awesome guy who really knows his stuff and the class is super easy. If I can say one thing its STUDY THE REVIEW THAT HE SENDS BEFORE THE TEST AND YOU HAVE A GUARANTEED A. I would definitely recommend taking him
Easiest class! Just go, it's spot check attendance. Test's are based on a review sheet he provides a week before. You do the review sheet, you get an A. Simple as that.
This guy was a lot harder this year..he did not give out any review sheets and it is important to go to class. take good notes. getting a B is fairly easy but an A will require work
i looked at the comments on here prior to taking this guy and he is harder this year by far..i was planning on an easy A but i got a C instead and studied.
i had goffin for amh 1 and 2 and he is pretty easy. this semester was a little bit harder but still easy. he emails you keywords before class and u just have to define it when he lectures. he sends out reviews that are for the most part are identical to the test. he makes the questions a tad confusing though. def do the extra credit!
EASIEST class I've taken in college. Although you get extra credit for spot check attendance, you NEVER have to go. I never went to class, just use the STUDY GUIDE & book and you'll pass every test. He gives a lot of extra credit too!
I hate American history, but I loved this class. He made it interesting for me, and he's very easy to understand. I've never used the book, because everything he asks about on tests are in the lecture. Attendance isn't mandatory, but a good idea. Spot checks for extra credit. I highly recommend him.
Professor Goffin is great. If I have the opportunity to take him again I will. I am a history fan, but only to a certain point and Goffing was perfect for what I like out of history. He covers the important stuff and ignores the little facts that nobody cares about. He has four tests that are easy if you do the review. I would advise taking him!
This is not a hard class if you go and take notes and study for the tests. He is kinda boring and somewhat of an idiot. I argued with him alot in class about current events. I consider myself to be good at American history and only got a B.
I love Alvin Goffin. Best teacher I've ever had. His lecture is kind of boring, but you dont need to pay all that much attention. He gives out study guides that contain every question on the test so as long as you do them, you are fine. The writing assignments are SO easy. Plus, he's an old guy, but hilarious. Best class I've taken in a long time.
He is adorable. Assignments are really easy! Make sure to do study guide for tests, they really help. By necessary to take notes bit it helps with the study guide
This guy is great!! He is the nicest easiest teacher ive ever had in college so far. If you go up to him and need help he will help you! He even took one of my assignments late just because hes a nice guy. Hes old but that doesn't matter. Class isnt mandatory but he does do spot check attendance, overall take this guy, and definitely do study guide
His class is very boring, but the class is so easy. If you write the papers you get 100 and he does a test review for the test and the questions come exactly from the test review
Alvin Goffin is an oldie and is so nice. You would think his class would be hard but it's actually pretty easy. On webcourses he gives you key words for each chapter and a review that is basically EXACTLY the test. You have to write like 3 papers but if you do it, you get a 100. He's a sweet guy. Take this class and laugh at his jokes.
Dr. Goffin is the cutest old man ever! His class is so easy, including the tests. There are four papers that he tells you about at the beginning of the semester & if you turn them in, you get 100%. He posts a review sheet before the test and goes over it in class. Those questions are basically the same ones on the test. Spot-check attendance.
Very easy class. The study guides at the end of each cluster of chapters is all you neeed. Just attend the review days and it's the same as the test. Four papers due, but is very lenient on material and easy topics. Goffin is funny and interacts with the class. He really knows his subject.
Dr. G is a great professor! I took this class for summer A and he made it a breeze. He has reviews the day before his tests and if you study the review you will do great on the test. He offers extra credit and gives extra points if you are there for spot attendance. I highly recommend taking him if you want an easy and caring professor.
This class is an easy A, not one to stress about at all. Dr. Goffin is laid back, adorable, & funny. Only 4 papers assigned & all you have to do is turn them in for a 100. Test reviews the class before the test tell you everything you need to know. He offers a lot of extra credit, attendance being one form. I highly recommend taking this class!
Dr. Goffin is great ! He makes it almost impossible to get less than a B in his class if you are willing to put in the effort. His Gordon Rule assignments are 4 papers of 500 words that if completed you receive an automatic 100. Test reviews are the test, so study those. I HIGHLY recommend him and i have nothing negative to say about his class.
He is the easiest history teacher at UCF. He has a chapter introduction powerpoint that he reads off of. Then has key terms that he goes over that are important in the chapter. There are 4 Gordon Rule papers and you receive a 100 if it is at least 500 words. He gives a study guide before the class that basically is the test. LOVE HIM. Recommend him
Professor Goffin is the BEST history teacher at UCF! Attendance isn't mandatory but he gives extra credit when he decides to take roll. The tests are pretty easy and he gives a review (with all of the test questions) before each test. You will have to write 4 2-paged essays, but they are super easy. He also offers a lot of extra credit work. Easy A
The class itself is easy, but attendance was required and random (he doesn't always called attendance). Extra credit was available and he gives reviews before exams. My only complaint is that he failed to give me my extra credit points, giving me a B+ instead of the A- (I was .6 points away)
Total grade consists of 10% gordon rule essays(5), 90% tests(3). Random attendance is taken for extra credit, offers a presentation on a historical event for extra credit as well. Gives study guides and holds review sessions for the study guide and tests are the same questions as the study guide only multiple choice and slightly altered. TAKE HIM
Do not recommend buying the book because it as very unnecessary. Just study the study guides and the papers to get a good grade.
Bring a pillow! Incredibly boring teacher who reminds me of a war general. Constantly drinks water every few sentences, counted 97 "um's" in 5 mins(because I was so bored and he says uh/um so much.) It's a shame, I love AMH and was really pumped for this class, now it's honestly hard to stay awake in and I've never slept through any classes before.
Easiest professor I've ever taken. Attendance is mandatory and lectures are rambles BUT before each exam, he gives you a review guide that are the exams VERBATIM. Memorize them and you'll make an A each time.
