he's kinda strict... need to memorize from his notes basically. his exams are 50 M/C questions. for the final, there's 4 short essays to answer and 40 M/C questions.
He's okay but he takes mgt. 3120 too seriously and is kinda strict and isn't too helpful when it come to review for exam which is 2 50 t/f and final is 40 mc and 4 short answers all his test are cumalitive w/ no review!!!
Funny guy, could be a stand up comic. But takes his job a bit too seriously. Try to stay away from him when taking Mgt. 3120 cuz there are other better professors around for this class. (The class itself is boring also, kinda like sociology)
this guy is really funny. gives 2 midterm which are 50 T/F questions. the final consist of 4 out of 8 essays and 40 T/F questions. fun class.
he's all right, but nothing special. tests are straight memorization. if everyone else is closed, i would take him, but .... like someone said on here before.. there r much better profs.
Very nice prof. Kinda strict in grading, but gives a curve on final grades. Tests are memorization from HIS notes.
Very entertaining but strict on attendance. His tests are fair.....
He is nice. Better come on-time. His midterms and final are T/F questions. If you good at T/F question, take his class. If you not, stay away then!
very nice guy. easy A. friendly. sense of humor. approachable. vice-chair of the dept.
Very funny guy. He's one of the best prof.s I've ever had. His class is interesting cuz he teaches from his expriences not just from the book. Very recommendable.
He is very funny and his lectures are interesting. His exams are fair, although not easy. Just study his notes and you should do fine.
nice guy and keeps class interested, but beware that tests are very tricky! gives two 50 question multiple choice tests that are not as easy as you think, need to know material but if you study should get a B
Great teacher. Very funny and keeps you interested in material. T/F midterms straight from notes and book. Take him if you can.
im suprised that nobody mentioned that his final is CUMILATIVE (13 chapters) and 8 essays (u have to do 4), but still you have to study hard for final cuz its 405 of ur grades and its essays-
The class was OK. He is funny and makes a lot of jokes..never a boring day in class. HOWEVER, the final is insane. 13 CHAPTERS!!! And you have to do 40 T/F and 4 out of 8 essays. It may not seem like a big deal, but it is A LOT to study for...all lists. There have to be easier professors then him.
He's very funny but eventually he'll repeat some jokes at least 3 times. The lectures can get a boring if you're not interested in the material. He posts class notes on Blackboard but his notes are VERY disorganized so it doesn't really help until you organize them to work for you.
Where does this guy come up with his notes. He tells you to read the book and study HIS notes. Save yourself the trouble and make your own notes. Too many chapters for final, 13. Jokes get wack a little after the 4th week. Arrives late often.
funny professor, sometimes my cheeks hurted from laughing so hard. his tests are t/f and can be tricky. so just make sure you go over your notes. i didnt read the textbook - just my notes and i got a B
boring prof. takes attendance every class too, so dont be late. book not needed, he provides slides that are very unclear and hard to follow. be ready to take good notes. t/f exams are tricky, but if you study YOUR notes, you should be able to pass the class. Never lets out on time.
Effective style of teaching! makes u get interested in the subject. 2 tests, 1 paper, 1 final. tests were kinda easy if u knew the material very well. final was a killer cuz had to know 13 chps in n out! 40 mc n 4/8 essays! had to memorize most of the stuff. at times he's boring but at times he's very funny. overall a good professor.
Great class in the beginning. But after 3 weeks and the same jokes being recycled, it gets kinda lame. His cumulative true/false tests are somewhat tricky. His final is KILLER. 50 t/f questions and 4 out of 7 or 8 essays on THIRTEEN CHAPTERS of material. Not an easy A at all.
Not an easy class: there are many assignments and each one counts for a small percentage of the final grade. The final is cumulative but allows for a choice of 3 out of 6 essays. Generous grader, accepts simple right-to-the-point answers. Overall, great professor with a good sense of humor.
Easy A? Probably not. T/F questions on midterm was really common-sense. Final was difficult if you did not study definitions because it is T/F and short answer. Alright guy, kinda old plus old jokes. Real throwback guy, reminds me of a high school teacher. Will learn more in class than reading book. Take this guy if you want to earn an A and learn.
The class is easy, he explains it very well. However, there is a lot to study and memorize. 2 test, 1 paper and a killer final. Tricky T/F questions and in the final you have to answer 4 out of 8 essays. Overall, he is a very nice and funny professor. He tries to build up confidence in us and gives lessons that are applicable to life.
This was one of the most boring class I ever took. Thank goodness for the wireless network, you need a lap top to survive that class. The tests were all true false... and not that easy. Good luck if you take his class. You'll catch up on sleep though.
boring class. true-false midterms, true-false & essays in final. everything CUMULATIVE!!!
Booke will work you harder than you've ever worked before...but will reward you in the end. Potentially the best of all of the BPL professors but BE PREPARED TO WORK! You will get a decent to really good grade (B- and above) and will hear a good deal of funny jokes over the course of the semester. Take over other professor
Boring class. He talks too much stuff outside the syllabus and rushes when tests arrive. If you have a good memory, this is a pretty easy class. Tests are fair but the final is cumulative. The two midterms are true and false format. Final has 3 essays. One easy homework (5%). Class participation in the big class (5%)
everything these people said + did anybody notice, how he is so conceited? he thinks, he is very intelligent and has a christamic personality, while he doesnt! he repeats same joke. besides, if he thought that your question was not as good, then hell insult you on ur face-so even if your opinion differs on something, then dont let him know!
Booke is such a great professor, very knowledgeable, well organized and a jokester. At times lessons can be boring but thats expected-otherwise he will help you out when you need it and hes always looking for feedback from his students which is great..Theres not to many of these great professors around-take BOOKE!
He is GREAT !!! Very interesting! You will not want to fall asleep in his class. I learned a lot! He is a fair grader. He gives you notes + you should take notes yourself and you'll do well. I wish I could take him again.
I was a visiting Studnet in his class. Wish all my Professor were as organized, professional and interesting as he is. The subject came to life in his lectures and although there is a lot to cover his notes and his guideance will help you !
Good professor. One of the authors of the BPL primer, which I found to be a great substitute to any textbook. The class isn't hard and the tests are straighforward but the sheer amount of the workload will keep you busy throughout the semester. Good-natured, funny, helpful.
Not easy... but a nice guy and a good prof... the tests are way harder than they need to be
I didn't get much out of this class. Wasn't insightful, wasn't challenging. Expected more. Don't waste your time.
I liked his jokes in the beginning but then came the MIDTERM and ppl started cribbing. He doesn't know how to word multiple choice Q's and WE suffer as a result. Otherwise, he brings real-world examples to class. However, he does digress a lot. Don't underestimate his slides - they contain info. thats not in the text and IT WILL SHOW UP ON THE TES
Boring and very repetitive professor! The tests are all cumulative and tricky. He always lets the class out 5 mins after the time class ends instead of 5 mins before. Corny jokes. Take someone else!
He is extremely boring. I felll asleep in every class. But as long as you read the textbook, you should be okay. His tests are 50 true/false questions ; they can be very tricky. But an alright professor
If you want to get a easy A, get away from him!!! His lecture is so boring and he makes all those stupid jokes. His test is so tricky almost half of the class failed. Who give 50T/F over 7 chapters for each exam? And the 2nd exam covers everything from the 1st exam too! There is no way you can get a good grade unless you can memorize the book!
he's so corny. his tests are extrememly tricky and all cumulative, 5oT/F questions, killer. always end class late, if you want to get a good grade try to avoid him!!!
he's a funny professor, teaches very well but his exams are not easy. T/F questions, definitely have to study hard. Overall he is a good professor.
I dont know why ppl think he's funny. His exams are so hard, T/F quesions very tricky, You must study real hard to get a good grade. He never finishes lecture on time
He's lecture is very boring, and you better be on time for each class, he takes attendence everytime, and if you are late once he think you are late as usual. He's exams are crazy. 40 t/f on final and 4 out of 8 essay questions which worth 40%! He's mean and picky, makes corny jokes all the time. seriously DO NOT Take HIM!
He is a nice guy but not a good professor since he believes his class is the only one we have. The tests are ridiculous he deliberately tries to trick people and his final is on 19 chapters which he barely goes over since he talks for weeks about 2 chapters and then skims the next 3 or 4 in the last 2 days be4 the exam, didnt learn much.
Problem is, he can't make up decent Q's to save his life. Pls don't take this professor. This course is basically reading the text but he will ruin ur grade.
absolutely horrible, he's terrible!
I don't understand the people that thought he was boring and had corny jokes. This was easily my favorite class and this is a boring subject that he made fun. I looked forward to the classes. I'm not happy with the 15 chapter final which included short essays, I think I failed another test partially because this test took too much of my time.
Can't believe i'm going end up with a C in Management. This class was extremely hard. I like the professor but hard. Everybody fell asleep. Had a student that was always disturbing the class for half the semester. Also, he does not curve. BE ADVISED!!
I wouldn't recommend him AT ALL! Please note: ALL TEST, INCLUDING FINAL ARE CUMILITIVE. You have to re-read like 18 chapters to get a decent grade. Usually this kinda of Bullllshit classes I get "A" on, but Booke really**** kked it up. Although he is very friendly, and funny guy.
He is good prof. but exams is Hard..The lowest grade that I ever had in Baruch. 1st exam-CH1~7. 2nd exam-CH1~1X. 3rd exam-whole book. T or F questions freak u out. Dont think essay questions in final will be easier, even worse.
Too much material on tests - everything cumulative. First test and half of semester is on Supreme Court cases- must know date, x vs y, decision - like a law class. Last half of semester flew by but exams very hard.
If you have an excellent memory and can easily memorize all of your notes, he is the guy for you. If not, do not take him. The book is a complete waste of money, there is no need to buy it. Just memorize your notes, inside and out. The T/F portion of his test are tricky, so be careful.
Easy class, but cumulative exams!!
Very difficult material for unneeded class. Ridiculous cumltv. tests, and have to write 4 essays on a final. I would NOT recommend this guy...
He gave T/F Questions on the exam, but it is very hart.
Horrible. Yes he is sometimes funny, and I never fell asleep, not boring but hard. Even if u pay attention, he tests u on tricky T/F bascically to see how well u read. Final is harddddd...not worth it for a class that should be more on experience than on terminology. Goes too much off the topic...
If you think u can deal with a professor who drifts way off the topic and spends 3 days on 5 slides..then u have no problem. but word of warning...he can bore u to death! Deliberatly!!
I had to be practically glued to my book because the book(blue one) was crazy hard to read since it was so detailed and verbose. He likes to argue and the class slides are extremely unhelpful since every slide contains one or two words. The final was cumulative and it was hard. He allowed 4/10 essay choices so it was good.
horrible, finals is cumulative which you have to read the whole book to prepare for 40 T/F and 10 short answer questions. slides r useless, class is extremely boring.
don't know what the rest of people are talking about, prof. Booke is a nice professor with a sense of humor. Exams are directly from the book, and Project is easy.
Excellent professor, crystal clear teaching guidelines and methods. Blend in boring topics (HRM rules, etc) with a touch of humor. Never fell asleep although class is between 8:15PM-10:45PM. Exams are hard but as long as you study slides&videos, you will do just fine. He is much better than the book. Highly recommended, even if ur not HR manjor.
Prof. Booke is easy, exam questions r directly from the materials that we learned in class and book. If u pay attention on what he says in class and read the book, u sure will have no problem with this!! Take him, he's the choice!!
One midterm, one final. Three assignments. Assignments are easy, one was a surprise, two were listed on the syllabus. Exams consist of T/F questions (tricky) and short essays. A word of caution; if you can't memorize stuff don't bother. Also, be sure to memorize everything! about the videos he shows. No textbook.
Prof Booke loves to teach. He has some korny jokes but overall try's to make class interesting. Took over the summer and was intense because he goes thru all material just like full semester, no text book though. He does not give breaks either.
Prof. Booke is good! He loves his subject very much. You need to study his notes firts and then the book. T/F questions are tricky. The grades could be curved. Take him!
He's a really nice guy. He veers off the subject alot in class and will spend one hour on one slide and zoom through the rest. Stay glued to the book and his power point slides! You have to basically memorize to get an A in this class. He is very helpful when it comes to resumes and career related questions.
Real easy going during class, but do not be fooled... exam is EXTREMELY HARD... based only off his notes, i wasted my time reading the book.. simulation is a joke.. u can guess and be ok. Hes an OK teacher, if you can take someone better go for it.
The class was not at all helpful. Slides were often riddled with errors with respect to figures and dates. The same stories were told, ad nauseam, with little connection to class discussions. Tests were nothing more than the regurgitation of slides presented in class. If you want to really learn about HR, this is not the class then.
I thought this is a good course for obtaining a general understanding of Human Resources. It's very easy just 2 tests, a midterm and a final, which derived from his notes. You won't need to buy a textbook but make sure you memorize every inch of the notes because he will test you on everything.
Easy A if you memorize all the slides. Summer class is recommended. Gives a midterm, a final and 5 small easy assignments. One 12 pg. paper about topic of your choice related to HR. Great professor, highly recommended for learning and attaining an easy A.
Harder than it has to be, but certainly doable. If you read the textbook first, and than read his slides/notes, the T/F questions should be a breeze.
Def. not an easy A as mentioned below! No textbook, just his slides, attendance mandatory. Midterm, final, 4 assignments, and a 12 page paper on HR topic (which he doesn't give you much instruction on- BEWARRE). Must MEMORIZE everything on the slides to do well on tests, I MEAN EVERYTHING, tests are tricky and LONG. 20 T/F & a lot of essay ques.
Fair prof, you really do learn and gotta work. Class is very interesting, funny guy, EXTREMELY helpful with appointments and making sure you know the stuff. Textbook is a great read. Got an A-, but you gotta know the stuff. Attendance is serious. Read the book and youll be fine, tests are a bit tricky though, you really gotta know your stuff
class sucks, hard test got a F because this class is just way to hard, His exams are very tricky, IMO do not take him.
3 assignments that are quite easy as long as you follow his guidelines. 2 exams and 1 final. Exams are a bit tricky. focus on his slides. He gave us 150 pts. bonus for the final so that was pretty awesome! As long as you study well, you'll do fine.
Took this Human resource management class in the summer. Waste of time. He talks alot and keeps us until 10:15pm every day with no breaks. He doesn't allow food or drinks. Exams are complete memorization from class notes. He expects you to remember minute details for the exam. Will make you fall asleep. It was painful.
you will have to memorize the textbook it you want a decent grade in this class. you will also have to participate a lot. he has good stories though, but tells so much of it that he does not teach what needs to be thought. hard class
Memorizing is key, and it's a lot of details. You get used to it for the final, but the 14 page paper was a little extreme for a short summer course. Not sure he actually read it tho, got an A- on it and for the course as well.
If you want to pass the class and his exams you must make sure you read and memorize the text book for every word. If not you are going to and i mean definitely will fail. I withdrew from his class because there is no learning, just memorizing. I wouldn't recommend him
Run, do not take him. Not because its not an easy A but because you do more memorization than anything. There is no learning involved. There are about 7 chapters for each exams and his final is cumulative.
:/ Not an easy class you really have to know the everything in the textbook and his slides. He has 3 exams all true or false questions that can be really tricky. He's a funny professor but I'll probably not take him again.
This course is all about memorization, & regurgitation on the test exactly how the information looks in his slides. He uses videos from 1980s, and information on the slides is outdated-goes back to 1990s. He repeats the same stories over and over again.2 exams, a 14 page paper, and 5 hw assignments. Not the quality I would expect from an MBA class.
I'm taking this class in the summer and it is unbearably slow. I cannot imagine doing this in fall. As other reviewers have mentioned, his tests are all essentially vocabulary memorization, which he makes weak rationalizations for. This is fine for math or some other base-of-the-structure topic, but it is inappropriate for management.
Not the best but deff easy. brings real world examples. tests are easy as long as you read the book. how hard can that be? the class itself is easy. just show up and read the book for exams. material is interesting, deff recommended!
I took the course in the summer. The course itself is easy and definitely relates to real world employment scenarios. The professor is a nice guy, however, his exams involve lots of memorization. They are not difficult, but it is important to carefully read each question. Overall, I would recommend this class. Goodluck!
Ridiculous, expects the class to memorize the book front to back. T/F tests (midterms) and 40 t/f on final and 4 short answer that consist of part a. b. c. 3 writing assignments, and online quizzes. Too much work for first level management class! Too much memorization. Extremely boring! You will be sleeping in class!
He's good and knowledgeable about the subject, but honestly cumulative finals are absolutely ridiculous. You learn much less trying to remember everything in the semester for a single final rather than a portion of the chapters. Watch out for his grading, he tends to make mistakes.
He may repeat the same stories over and over again but I enjoyed his lectures overall. Two tests, a 10-12 page term paper, and 4 HW assignments. YOU MUST MEMORIZE HIS NOTES. If you dont memorize his notes then you will be in for a surprise on the mid-term/final. The hardest thing is remembering everything. It is a lot of information.
Very nice Prof., and enjoys sharing knowledge. 4 individual H/W and 1 final paper, 1 midterm, 1 final. No group project.
Sofar he is the best professor I have seen. Extremely knowledgeable and willing to share his knowledge. Attend, take notes and you'll be fine for True/False tests. Final is cumulative but it is not bad at all. He hints what topics to concentrate on. Prof Booke is the right investment of time and money!!!! Take ONLY him!!!!!
stand up guy. gives you every chance to earn a good grade. almost 40 percent of grade is from homework or online quizzes plus participation. But be prepared for a boring class. he tries to make class exciting but you will be bored every single time. fair warning!
Great professor - yes his videos are outdated, etc. But if you go to class, write down what he says, read his notes, you can get an A. He's not out to "get you", he wants you to learn and he will be fair if he sees you have an interest and try. People complain about him but hes really a fair teacher.
HR could be so interesting, yet this prof made it the most boring class yet. BA and MA at Baruch, then straight into teaching. Hasn't actually worked a day in his life. Currently 70 yrs old. You have to memorize laws and cases. No talk about actual and current HR situations. The 1 example he gives of an interview is a video from 1973; not kidding.
If you have any choice, don't take him! You will learn nothing. It's a bunch of memorization of laws and years with outdated (1970s) videos. Knows nothing of the current field and practices. He tries to teach but all he does is talk about ... Well I'm not really sure what.
