Super amazing and caring professor! I failed my first attempt at statistics with another teacher, and passed his class with an A. Offers extra credit, but I, thankfully, didn't need it. Yay! I also didn't need to pay for the mystatlab a second time because his homework is straight from the book, which is what I prefer. Double yay! 10/10

Professor Johnson has very good lectures and explains the material in a way everyone can understand. He gives good examples and will clarify and confusion you may have. He gives you a practice test which he goes over in class before he gives you the actual test, which is a very good study tool. Just listen and study what he gives you.

Prof. Johnson is a great instructor! He assigns homework from the book in order for you to get the extra practice. He makes it clear that YOU ARE FREE TO SOLVE HIS HW & TESTS QUESTIONS ANYWAY YOU KNOW HOW BEYOND HOW HE MIGHT SOLVE THEM. AS LONG AS SOME WORK IS SHOWN. If you think otherwise, then you were probably not listening.

I've always struggled with math. I failed my first attempt of statistics with a "D" with another professor. I'm proud to say that I passed this class with an "A." He helped me recognize that I had the potential to excel in math all along - I just needed an appropriate teacher. He's an amazing teacher, and I'll be recommending him to others!

Really good professor. Gives good feedback, and makes math understandable. Also his homework and practice test helps a lot. I would recommend if you ever struggled in math this is the right professor to take. He goes step by step of what you need to do.

Make sure you do all the homework its basically half of your entire grade. Tests are pretty much the reviews he gives out the class. Over all great professor.

He test you on what he teaches. Lectures are easy to understand and expects you to participate. He makes everything easy for you on tests. The study guides are what is going to be on the test. Theres a sheet in the syllabus that you should turn in the second class which is to turn your lowest test grade into 100 points. Forever my favorite.

Prof Johnson's class was a breeze. Do your homework on time, all homework is given from the book, only about 3-4 tests, and he also provides practice tests which are VERY similar to actual tests so I suggest you do them. You will have a guaranteed A.

Only test you on what he teaches! Practice test is your test! The day of test He will give you the formula sheet to help you.. making algebra bareable for me. Would def take him again.

Best math professor ever!! I have a 100%, and i am horrible at math! He gives up to 20 points of extra credit on exams, and a 100 point syllabus paper that you sign on the second day of class! He's amazing, I LOVE HIM SO MUCH, TAKE HIM!! Makes College algebra so enjoyable, and easy to understand!!

Professor Johnson is wonderful. It seems like he does everything he can to give the students an opportunity to succeed. He is happy to answer questions, is EXTREMELY clear on what he is looking for on the test, gives lots of extra credit, and makes himself available after class. He makes you work for it, but if you are dedicated, you can succeed.

I love the way Professor Johnson teaches. I always sucked at math until I had his class. He really makes sure you understand the material.

I must say that Ive never had a prof like him before. Most of my profs usually just let me side by. However, in his class he holds you accountable for your learning. If you dont ask questions, then you simply wont know. Hes one of the first profs that I have had that actually made me earn my grade. I can appreciate that!

Mr. Johnson is great! If you put forth the effort, you'll do well. He really encourages critical thinking about the material and welcomes questions. Yes, there is a lot of homework, but it really does help you do better on the exams. You can buy a used textbook for the class, or just rent one. There's extra credit opportunities on every (5) exam!

Great professor! Of course you are expected to work hard but that's with anything. Lecture notes and lecture videos are extremely helpful. If you are not willing to study and put in the effort to succeed, then this course may not be for you. He wants you understand the material and not just get an "easy A". Only you can keep your from getting an A.

I thought calculus would be hard from what I've heard. It's not! He provides the book for free, host online chats session where he goes over the material and you can ask as many questions you want! He post the sessions so you can go back a review them! TAKE HIM! YOU WON'T REGRET IT!

Awesome teacher, taking him again for college algebra. Taught math clearly & concisely. Bonus questions on all the tests that really help your grade. He provided detailed power points & book pages so you don't have to buy a text book. Always answers emails & is very nice, tough but nice! I don't recommend taking a statistics class online. If you do, he's the professor to take. He gives you the textbook. He teaches effectively through his online lectures. You can get an A if you do the work and have a solid foundation in algebra. Sometimes he repeats questions from homework on the test. He pushes students to work for their grades.

The semester is coming to an end. Im no math major by any means. It was tough but Im coming out with an A! Some might say hes mean but he just doesnt let students makes excuses! As he would say, I dont train weak students! He wants you to leave his class stronger than when you came in. I personally can appreciate that! TAKE HIM TRUST ME!

Professor Johnson was great. If you have questions, he's there to help. The work is very straight forward. You're given almost an entire month per section. There are only one test, discussion post, & homework assignment per section. If you do the work and at least try, you'll pass this class.

Online courses can be hard! But it wasn't! He made it very clear that we would have to put in the effort to succeed! He made it clear that we should not rely only on his lecture notes but also needed to use the book for even more practice! HW questions often appeared on the exams was a plus! I could contact him for extra help a lot!

Some say hes tough but I get his reasoning. TBH, never really had a math instructor that genuinely wanted me to know this stuff versus an instructor that made the class too easy & I actually didnt really learn anything. I respect his firmness and appreciated it. Take him if you REALLY want to learn! Im taking him for more classes!

I can really say I earned my B! I shouldve taken the course before this one which probably wouldve made the class even more understandable. But he challenged me and made me better and want to do better! I dont care what bad things anyone says about him! HE IS A GREAT TEACHER!

FIRM but GREAT prof! If youre looking to just be given a grade, then you shouldve done your research and found those types of professors. He helped me to realize how under prepared I was coming from high school and that it was up to me to change that. I buckled down, asked questions, studied hard and Im proud to say I EARNED my A!

All of the course content is clearly laid out and if you do the work, you will pass! He is super specific and helpful in his emails and messages, and very quickly responded every time I contacted him.

One thing he stresses is that if your arithmetic skills are weak this course will become a challenge to you because of it. My pride wouldnt let me admit that I was weak with my arithmetic and it almost cost me from passing. Yeah, hes a firm but hes definitely fair. You just have to be honest with yourself thats its not him its really on you.

Professor Alvin Johnson is a great professor when it comes to mathematics. He has power points for all of his chapters. He is a little tough on you but in the end it is worth it. You might not like him at first but in the end you realize why he is the way he is. Attendeance is somewhat mandatory as all of his stuff is posted on blackboard.

I thought back to what Prof. Johnson said on day 1. He said those of you who took your academics serious and do what you are suppose to as student would remain in the course. And those who don't would slowly eliminate themselves one by one. He was right! Glad I listened to him! I earned an A! :-) GREAT PROFESSOR! TAKE HIM! YOU WILL LEARN A LOT!

Prof. Johnson is a great instructor. He understands that not everyone in the class is a math major. However, he did say that while you are in the course you will have to be in order to pass. Hes tough but hes definitely fair for good reasons. If you are looking for a grade to be given to you, then find another prof. I respect this him a lot!!!

Great prof! Gives you the PDF version of the book so you dont have to buy one. He also provides all the material you will need for the course. He gives you his lectures notes in pdf and powerpoint form. He also provides video lectures of him going over his powerpoints which I found extremely helpful! I have taken him for several classes!

Prof. Johnson is one of the best profs Ive had since attending PBSC. Up to now were at the halfway point of FA19 and Im sitting in class with students that clearly have weak basic math skills. This class can be completed with the aide of a TI-84 calculator. What else can you ask for? At some point you have to take responsibility for yourself!

If you took MAT1033C before this class and didnt take it seriously, then you will get exposed! Glad I took Prof. Johnson for that course because he taught us everything we needed to know for MAT1033C and taught us things ahead of time that we would see in MAC1105. GREAT PROF!!!! Take him if you want to learn the way you are suppose to learn!

Prof Johnson is great! I knew that STATS required critical thinking coming into this course so I personally wasnt surprised. Cant expect him to just give you the answer w/o putting in your own effort! The A Im getting in this course was earned not given. If expect to be given an easy grade then youve already failed. You will learn with him!!!

Great Prof! Prof Johnson is very straight forward. He stated on day 1 that he knows 99.9% of the class isnt math majors. But in order to succeed in his course we would have to be for the next 16wks. I didnt get that at 1st but I do now. Basically was letting us know that if we wanted to pass wed have to work hard and earn it. Glad I listened!

If you are not a responsible student do not take this class. Expectations are clear from the beginning that if you do not try to push yourself you will not pass. This class requires a lot of time and effort.

Took this class FALL 19 at the Lox Campus. Never been in a class with so many unprepared students it was really sad. At times he seemed frustrated with the lack of participation and concern the class had. TBH, a lot of the students didnt belong in his class. Regardless of what some might say about him. Hes a great Prof! You get out what you put in

Prof. Johnson is a remarkable man. He makes it very clear from the start that, if you do not take this course seriously, you will not pass. He provides the curriculum for you. If you have any problem understanding material in the lectures, he will help you after class. However, as a student, you must do your part if you want to pass this class.

I recommend anyone taken Prof. Johnson for this course. His lecture videos and voice over lecture ppt are very extremely helpful. If you are lazy and expect him to just give you a grade, then find yourself another prof.

It really is hard to fail this course! Seriously! You would have to absolutely do nothing the whole semester in order to fail it!

This course basically runs itself! His video lectures make you feel like hes there right there with you. And if you dont understand something you can simply rewind the video. If that doesnt help, you can contact him too! I dont understand how anyone can fail this course they say its set up!

By far, one of the easiest courses Ive ever taken related to math! All you have to do is do the work! He gives you multiple attempts to get the highest possible score on just about everything! As he would say, Dont leave any points on the table. Dont just settle for mediocre scores try to score as I high as you can! You wont regret it!

Literally didnt have to buy a single things for the course! It was all given to us for free! All you have to do is stay on top of the tasks that he signs and not slack off and you really cant fail. I would definitely recommend taking him for this course and I would assume hes just as good in others he teaches!

I really like how Prof J has this course set up! Gives you everything you will need for FREE! He has video lectures for all the chapters he covered with ANIMATIONS so you follow along with him. As I completing the HW Assignment I would open up the assignment in one window while listening to the video lecture at the same time. Really helpful!

I wish I could have taken him for all of my math classes! Course very well put together. If there was something that truly didnt understand from his video lectures I could just msg him through blackboard for clarity. You do not need to be rocket scientist to this course. You just need to put in the effort and not make excuses!

At first I thought this course would be really calculus heavy. But its really just a bunch of algebra with a few concepts directly related to the basic form of calculus. But thats it. I had no trouble with this course at all. I really suggest that you watch his video lectures and dont just try to jump right into HW on your own if I were you.

This class so laid out that its almost impossible to fail. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS USE THE MATERIAL HE PROVIDES! Its not his fault that people are too lazy to click on a tabs to see whats inside them. Its also not his fault that people are taking an upper level algebra course that entered it with a weak algebra foundation. Oh well, I EARNED AN A!

Ok, sure he uses a point system to determine your grade instead of using an average! So what! Thats no excuse for you to not put in the effort to learn the material! 5 HWs 100 questions (5 Attempts Each), 5 Tests 50 questions (2 Attempts Each with 6hrs to complete the test), 5 Posts. Some of you just look for excuse to blame everyone but yourself!

SUPER EASY!! Just some alg 2 review mixed in with some calc. The 15 assignments in total, 3 per unit. Coming from a lazy student, it's hard to fail this class unless you literally aren't doing anything. There's also an easy extra credit assignment towards the end (5 questions 300 points which is worth 1.5 test grades). NOTE: CLASS USES POINT SYSTEM

100% would take again. This was my second attempt at this course and I wish I would have taken this professor, in this format from the beginning. All materials are FREE and no MathLab. His video lectures are thorough so you can rewatch as many times as necessary. Most importantly, he gives a generous extra credit assignment at the end!

Honestly a great professor, This class isn't easy persay due to it being math. But he gives you enough time to do the Hw discussions and test

Prof. Johnson takes the pressure of his calculus course by mainly teaching algebra. The only complaint I have is his grading scale isn't the best due to it being based on points. (Ie 1291/1340 is an A). However, there is plenty of extra credit and multiple attempts on everything in the course. No reason to not get an A if you put in the work.

This is my second time taking Alvin, I'll take him again for any other math course! I am not the best at math but his lectures are very helpful to watch and take notes!

I usually struggle with math, but I 10/10 would recommend Prof. Johnson. He's very laid back, patient and slowly goes through each lesson if you can't grasp the material. Responds promptly on Remind App if you have any problems. 1 HW assignment, Quiz and Test (Two Attempts) per Chapter. You don't need to purchase a webcam or textbook/access code.

There are 5 homework assignments & 5 tests.Homework is not timed so start early, so you have enough time to work on it. It's 100 questions (100 points) per homework assignment ( except for the last two) & two attempts to take the homework. For the tests, you get a range of 5-6 hours to complete 50 questions that are worth 200 points and 1 attempt.

Prof. Johnson is a great teacher. Attendance doesn't matter because he records lectures ahead of time but you can join if you need extra help and he's ready to help. There are only 5 chapters, and for each chapter, there are 1 HW assignment(100 Questions, except for the last 2 chapters), 1 Practice Quiz, and 1 Test (50 Questions). Great Professor!

Professor Johnson was an average professor. He does give a lot of work but its spread out so you have more time 100 HW questions for 2 lessons than 50 HW questions for another 2 lessons. He does tend to speed by explaining lessons if you tell him to slow down he will. No lockdown browser. It is not a hard class to pass but it can be a lot.

Professor Johnson is a good teacher. His class consists of heavily loaded hw 2 which are 100 questions and 2 50 questions. The hw can be very confusing due to all the rules and restrictions when typing the answers since there's barely any multiple choice. Attendance is not required so you do not need to show up for the zoom classes.

To avoid withdrawals and bad grades just take this professor. I took him twice. Take his online class, yes it is a lot of work...but as insane as it sounds its your better option. Take quizzes and exams at home anytime with no pressure, it is timed but you should have time to finish. No book needed. PAY ATTENTION TO HIS INSTRUCTIONS NO SPACES!

The professor is easy to communicate with, he has clear instructions on how to type in answers to the questions given. The class is mostly composed of tests and homework but it is not hard.

He makes everything 100% clear. If you misunderstand something, that is your fault because nothing on tests or quizzes is different than what he teaches. Hw assignment for ea. section(2-3 per class) he doesn't release due dates at first so don't wait to start, he gives plenty of time. all open-note. you can retake hw assignments for a better grade.

Prof. J is great! His recorded lectures/pdfs u follow along with if u print them. I like the TRY FOR YOURSELF examples he provides feedback if u are on the right track helps with assignments/tests. Take my advice, surround urself with people that actually want to learn the material vs trying to google for answers. It won't end well for u and them.

For someone who does not excel in math, I did well in stat with Prof Johnson. This course is not difficult to pass if you just put in the time and effort. No lockdown browser but don't expect math engines to help with this class much. My only concern was for some assignments the time allotted is pretty short. Overall, not an "easy A" but do-able.

Prof Johnson wants everyone to do well. If you are complaining, you did not put in enough effort. He provides an easy way to contact (Remind app) so you can ask questions outside of class. He responds w/in 15-20 mins. Due dates are not posted right away, so just do them right after class so you don't forget. Definitely take his class. NO TEXTBOOK

He makes the class really easy and it has a clear layout. It is a little homework heavy but it's manageable, the only reason you would not pass the class is if you did not do the assignments. He responds fast!

I learned a lot from this course and I am grateful for the opportunity to have taken it with Professor Johnson. They challenged me to think critically and pushed me to do my best. Professor Johnson is an exceptional teacher who is passionate about the subject matter, and I would highly recommend their course to anyone interested in the field.

I knew coming into this SUMMER 6WK SEMESTER that it would be challenging. But I like a challenge! I expect to get an A in this class. 3HWs, 3 Quizzes, 3 Tests every week. It's not that bad if you put in the effort to learn the material. I like that he uses the point system and love that I can contact him through the REMIND APP!

This course is a refresh of college algebra with the very basics of calculus. I'll tell you this if you have only done your math classes through MyMathLab you're in for a switch. This course is designed to be more hands show your work. I can appreciate that. He gives feedback on your work though. He uses the point system. He responds fast!

Mr. Johnson is a stand up professor who is up-front and will give you all the tools, resources and help you need. Great professor who is active and has all your questions on the syllabus. Class is geared for those who are hard workers. There is not slacking off. Take this professor.

Came on here to check him out before registering for this class. I don't know what some of y'all talkin bout. HW assignments are straightforward with bout 20 or less questions. lots of grades, i suck at math so it was hard for me. but lectures are exactly like homework and can easily be done. huge extra credit opportunity near the end of the semester. i never reached out to him as i had no problem. he cares about his students. homework due evry monday night. sometimes he gives a range 2-5 assignments a week.

If you passed college algebra, you'll pass this class. Homeworks are easy, tests and quizzes are hard, but just by getting good grades on homeworks you can pass.

I took prof J during the spring 2024 semester live online. He is very passionate in his instruction. He does the extra mile to make sure you understand the material. I also like how he invites students to participate by something he calls "I do, We do, You do". How he teaches the class definitely prepares for the class after this one! Take him!

Prof J is a great instructor. I am not the best at math but he inspires you to not just get by. I love how he shows us how to solve problems in class and then let's us practice if we understand by giving us similar examples. I've never really had math class that let you do that in college. I know I will pass his class!

Professor Johnson's class is manageable if you stay on top of the weekly homework and quizzes. The lectures are helpful, and using Unstuck study alongside the course materials can really boost your understanding. Overall, a solid class if you're willing to put in the work.

Prof J was great! When I tell you he taught this upper level algebra based course in the most basic and understandable way! He said he wouldn't speak in all that mathematical wordiness so that we could understand better. Loved how he interacted with us too! Take him! You won't regret it!

Definitely take Professor Johnson. I am planning to take him again for next semester for college algebra. Such a easy class if you pay attention, take notes, and go over the notes before tests. There was no midterm exam or final exam given just the tests for each chapter. I took him in-person and he is very caring about his student's education.

I took this class with didn't prof last semester and failed because she made it hard for no reason. After Prof J I'm on my way to at least a B in his class. Doesn't give you hundreds of questions on HW and allows you make corrections. Tests only have like 10 questions and gives you 2hrs and no test center or lockdown browser needed.

Professor Johnson is the best! He provides clear notes and videos, uses a point system (not percentages), and doesn't require a lockdown browser. Homework allows 2 attempts, and tests/quizzes are timed with plenty of time and few questions. Highly recommend him!

Good teacher i took his class online, as long as you're on top of your homework its a easy A in the class don't wait till last minute to do the HW it's a lot.

I took Professor Johnson for a live online class for MAC1105. At first, it was challenging because there was a lot to learn, but his lectures were clear and well-explained. He also posts recordings of his lectures online, which makes it easy to go back and review the materials. There is homework assigned for every section, but get it done asap.

I took him for statistics and he is a pretty good teacher. As long as you stay on top of the assignments you'll pass. If you have questions, he'll answer in a way where he won't straight up give you the answer but he'll give hints as to how to do the work. He gives extra credit at the end of the semester.

I've taken this professor for two classes and plan to retake him this fall for statistics. His classes are not easy, but if you put in the effort, watch the lectures, keep up with homework, and stay consistent, you will succeed. In fact, just by completing the homework and doing your minimum on the test, you'll pass.

He's the best math teacher I've ever had. Going to class is important because tests are given after each chapter, usually every week or two, but they're not difficult, it's just the last chapter that was covered in class. NO MIDTERMS OR FINALS!. If you do the homework, you'll do great. He's caring, funny, and explains concepts wonderfully.

Professor alvin Johnson is always there to help you yes he may be very concerned about your academic progress because he really cares about you and your dedication to passing the course and to see if you understand the material but so far he is an amazing professor I highly advise you to take him for Intermediate Algebra

I took this course in class with Prof Johnson. He really made a course relatable. He likes to use real-world examples to help us understand the material better. He gives you everything you need to know to succeed in the course!

If you took Prof J's Fall 2025 STATS class, then you know! lol This was my 2nd time taking this class and the way he taught the material and made it come to life helped me understand it a so much better! He interacts with the class a lot too because he likes to hear what your point of view on the material is. My last prof didn't do any of that!
