Very talented industry person. Students like him alot
Good teacher!
A okay, prof. but sometimes hard to understand.
he sucks- complete moron
one of the worst professors i've ever had at FIT. He picks favorites and is completely a moron.
He's a good guy; doubt he'll ever try to hit on someone. Goes a bit too fast while showing you how to do the work. Into politics.
Expect to get the same amount of projects you get in your major area classes. Intentional or not, he picks favorites. If you are not one, change your seat to the front, bc he WILL NOT be moving to help you. Chances are high you will encounter an awkward situation with him. Exams are easy, as the exact answers/test are reviewed the week before.
talks to fast & doesnt like to get up to help...hes confusing but his test are all available to practice online ...hes fair if the whole class is pushy but he talks so fast you can get lost if you miss one thing....he gives ALOT of tests
I learned a lot from him. He talks fast and gives a lot of work. His tests are extra long, and sometimes you'll get frustrated with him and yourself, but I can say I actually learned a lot in the end. That is what's most important. The things that he taught, I still use to this day.
I never knew that someone could be SO BAD at teaching. This guy is one of them. Do not waste your money on the book or pc microphone...chances are you will not use them. He's very lazy, doesn't like to help out and gets an attitude when asked even the simplest questions (zooming in). Ladies, be careful, because he is very "awkward". Don't take him!
Avoid at all costs. Way too fast to keep up, mocks you if you go too slow. Tries to be your life coach instead of just a computer teacher
He is not a good teacher. He talks too fast and expects you to know things that he should be teaching. The things he teaches are not Excel related and it was really my worst class
dont listen to what others say, hes a great teacher. easy, chill and relaxed. a very cool prof. he lets u print x amount of stuff in class since its a computer class. if u do have trouble let him know bc he will slow down and explain otherwise he wont know and he cant help u. simple as that, others dont do well bc theyre busy on facebook n such
hes a good teacher. you just need to pay attention and not sit on facebook. get to know him and you'll do fine!He is pretty easy and understanding... i'd say take him for excel
really nice and funny professor. class is actually very helpful for the real world. the homework is easy and you go over the tests before you take them. really believes in his students
Such a nice guy! I had him for Excel. Although he goes quick, just tell him to slow down and he will! I had so much fun in this class! He gets really into projects, and helps out a lot! You can also look at the tests before you take them. All he does is change the numbers and what not. Awesome teacher. Take this class with him!
The worst professor to have. I never had any issues with any of the Professors' lectures, till I took this class. I don't believe he should be teaching at all, his teaching skills are extremely poor.
he is super nice, but be prepared to learn a lot in just a few minutes.. or seconds. he is so fast it is unbelievable. you will see what i mean
He is a really cool guy, moves fast but just tell him to slow down. The textbook helps you a lot. He tells you everything you need to know for the tests you just have to practice at home or in the comp lab. Do your homework, come to class, pay attention and you should do fine unless you're a computer genius then it shouldn't be hard at all.
Rogers tries to act like he's a cool guy and that he cares for everyone in the class. As weeks went by, I realized how much of an ANNOYING professor he is. Cannot spell, and literally anyone can do his job: reading from the textbook, playing music, and grading excel sheets.
He talks really fast, gave you what to study which was great but honestly i don't remember a lot of stuff even though i did good on his test bc he just gave us the answers on the study guide. So all u needed to know was what to study and you were fine. He's just annoying with putting up final grades. Im still waiting for my overall grade from dec..
The absolute easiest class I have ever taken in my life. If you can use a computer then this course should be an easy A. Homework is annoying but the test are super easy. He's really nice and funny and always made the class entertaining even if it was an afternoon class!!!! Great Professor!!!
Didnt finish taking this class yet, but he's an amazing professor! Super reasonable person, explains well and fast (You dont get bored). I took one day of class w/ another professor and switched to his class, I glad I did this.! If you need to take MG153 pick Rogers!
He does talk very fast but does repeat endlessly and helps outside of classroom hours too. He is very open with his students and does not feel like a teacher at all sometimes! I was surprised to realize how much I actually learned from this class at the end. I use his lessons a lot in my day to day work at office!
Sigh. Please do not take him. PLEASE. All he does is talk about himself. It's week 3, we've barely learned anything, and we're still on chapter 1. Always goes off topic too.
most incompetent professor ever. Do not take him, you will learn nothing because he gets so side tracked talking about himself. Loses tests that you hand in online. how is that even possible. DO NOT RECOMMEND
Such an awesome excel teacher, take him if you can. Most other classes were swamped in homework. DO NOT BUY THE BOOK! do the homework, pay attention in class, and you'll be fine. Gives three tests and a final, but not too bad. Super chill and relatable and will help you if you ask.
I am telling you, DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS. There are plenty of other professors that make sure you understand. He mocks, teases, and does not make anything clear. I stayed after most classes to studyfinish homework and he wouldn't even stay for a minute to help. He makes too many mistakes on grades and all the students can negotiate. DON'T DO IT!
Basically if you already have a decentbasic understanding of excel and Microsoft office, take his class because it will be an absolute breeze. If you are not familiar with excel, take this with another professor because Prof. Rogers becomes impatient when people don't understand basic topics. Class was nice because there wasn't a lot of homework.
I thought it was a fun, easy class! Most of the class is just conversation. He loves to talk to students, and genuinely cares about our well-being. Sometimes he shares his donuts with the class! Just pay attention in class and you will do well. Easy A.
Talks too fast. Should write down steps potentially? That might help you study. He is willing to help students and was very nice to me when I was sick. Just a difficult class to take. Sometimes he's only addressing half the room at once. DON'T BUY THE BOOK! I didn't use it. Just buy the code for SAM technology. YouTube is your friend.
This professor is really easy if you show up for class and you do the like 5 homework. If you get a 85+ on the online homework he will give you a 100. In class we are always practicing for the next test (we go over the same worksheet). You don't even need the textbook, if you need any extra he is there or you can use Youtube. Honestly easy A.
He really is a nice guy and you don't do too much work, but in class he goes a mile a minute and expects you to know what to do. He can be a little rude, but if you participate he's nice to you. Make sure you make friends in the class so you can help each other on the homeworks and prepare for the tests. I don't think I would take his class again.
Sweetest, nicest professor, always asking us our opinions on current events. Talks a mile a minute but will go over a topic until you understand it. Very straightforward with what is going to be on tests. Try not to miss class because its hard to learn without him actually showing you the steps. Will stay with you after class to give extra help.
one of the sweetest professors I've ever had. He's really funny and always wants to know what we think about things. After reading the other comments I was terrified but he's an amazing teacher. If you pay attention you'll do well. If you miss class it's hard to learn without him explaining it. Loves his students, definitely recommend
From what I have heard from other Excel students this is by far the easiest professor for MG153. I didn't buy the textbook (which was fine) but I did need to order the SAM code. You have homework almost every week (I always did it in class), and the tests are pretty easy. Professor Rogers is a nice man, I would recommend this class.
I seriously loved Prof. Rogers! Easiest class. If SAM was a problem, you'd ask him to help you and he'd give you 100% on it in the grade book. The tests are so easy, but take a lot of time to complete. He says that you need the textbook, but just look any questions online. Pay attention in class and the homework will be a breeze.
Prof. Rogers can be confusing. I think he acts like he knows nothing about Excel in order to allow his students to figure out the answers to their questions, which for me, can get annoying. I paid attention and got an A. If you can wade through his sometimes annoying humor, you'll be fine. Just remember, excel is essential to the FBM curriculum!
He is a really good professor. Apart from being really clear and able to explain the same thing million times, he does everything for people to get an A. Best professor I had here so far!
Professor Rogers is great, I'm honestly not the best with computers and had never used excel before however he was so helpful and really worked to make sure everyone in the class understood what was going on. The tests are pretty lengthy but he is a fair grader. He always makes a point to ask us about life and whats going on, nice guy!
Faaaaavorite professor ever!!!!! He is absolutely the best! Amazing professor, explains really good, gives extra credit for the students that need! Please take him, you won't regret.
Prof Rogers is awesome! He genuinely cares about the students and gives extra credit. Don't buy the book! I didn't buy it, missed 2 classes, never studied and still got a B+. His jokes are corny but that's what made them funny. Great professor to take!
Professor Rogers is one of the best professors at FIT. He is an amazing teacher and makes excel so easy to understand as long as you follow along. I got an A and had never used excel before. He was always so nice and patient. The tests are exactly like the review. You don't need the textbook. I never even cracked it open. Take Rogers if you can.
Professor Rogers didn't seem like he knew much about excel to be honest. He had me go up in front of the class and explain a histogram once. Made us buy the textbook just for the online code and never actually made us do any work from the book. There are 4 main tests that make up the majority of your grade.
Professor Rogers is a very friendly guy and is knowledgeable about excel. However, he is not the greatest teacher. It is very difficult to learn the material and to be able to apply it on the tests. We had to buy the $175 book and we never used it once. Managed to get a B-, but think I could've done better if I had a different teacher.
This class wasn't as hard as I thought it was going to be. He goes a little fast when lecturing but if you just tell him he's going too fast, he will slow down. Overall he was a good professor and I would definitely take him again. He cares about his students' success a lot!
You're beyond lucky if you get Professor Rogers. He takes you step by step through the lectures showing you exactly what to do. He does great review sessions. I couldn't have asked for a more competent, kind, and understanding professor. Easy to get an A if you don't miss class and pay attention. Sit in the front by him to focus and get more help.
Teaching a computer program is difficult. Professor Rogers does a great job and goes over things as many times as needed. Homework is important to stay on top of things and make sure you understand how to do things. Tests are exactly what we've gone over in class. Really passionate guy, and really cares about the success of his students!
Once you get use to his teaching style the class becomes eaiser to handle. Professor Rogers tends to move fast but do not be afraid to stop him and ask questions. He is always willing to go over something more then once. He reviews the week before all tests, which is helpful.
Prof Rogers is the absolute best. Takes a class or two to understand his teaching style, but after that it's all up hill. He answers all questions and will go over things again if you ask. He can go fast, but will 100% stop and help you if you ask. Rly cares about the success of his students and wants them to truly understand excel. Funny and nice!
Professor Rogers kind of expects you to learn things on your own but he gives you all the materials. His exams are word for word what he gives you in class and overall an easy A. I took him twice for a reason! DO NOT, by any means, buy the textbook. You do not use it. I took both of the classes he offers and we didnt use either textbook
Prof Rogers is the BEST!!!! He is so helpful and always there for you. Take him is you can!!!!
This class is pretty easy because Excel is decently easy to pick up on, but he gets off topic really quickly and doesn't explain things too well. I'd recommend him over other excel professors.
don't teach anything. only talks about current events. absolutely horrible.. gives hw and expects you to know everything. boring. trynna act like he's inspiring to students but he's not... teaching what he has to..
Professor Rogers is a great! He makes this class easy and reviews a lot of we need to know in class. The tests are the same as what we do in class. He did require that we get a book on Bitcoin, which we do review sheets on.
A casual professor. This semester was about self-study just as he said he was lazy this year. If you want to learn something and don't want to waste time, choose another one. If you just want to pass the class, choose him. Chat with him and make him happy, you'll b totally fine.
He helps with everything. He teaches Microsoft Office & a lot of technological things. He helps as much as possible. Always engaging, attentive, and makes sure everyone understands everything. You'll never go wrong. He even helps with personal business goals and has so many connections. Take Him!!
I dropped the online version just to take a 9am class with him. Not only did I sacrifice sleep it was worth it. No one will help you as much as he will. He teaches with passion and has so much knowledge in what he teaches you can't go wrong. He even offers as much help as possible. If you are struggling or learning Microsoft Office, he's your guy.
Avoid this professor if you can. I've never posted on her before, so this says alot. He's a nice person, but as a professor, no. He is disorganized, his class lacks structure, and you won't learn anything. I feel that I wasted my time this semester in an otherwise useful course. Many students dropped his course because they were so frustrated.
I don't know how this person got to teach at FIT, Production Management. He doesn't have any skills to teach. I have some exposure working in the fashion field and I know what kind of skills needed in the business but this person DO NOT KNOW ANYTHING!!! Don't take him! Stay away from this person.
He is horrendous!!! He only covered up to chapter 4 and skips many chapter we suppose to learn. DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!!
Alvin Rogers is a terrible teacher! I learned nothing from him. Getting an A means nothing because he didnt teach what I suppose to learn, Im still struggling with the illustrator and photoshop.
STAY AWAY FROM THIS PROFESSOR!!!!! He seems nice but that's just about it. He is very disorganized and barely covered what we as students needed to learn. STAY AWAY!!!
I know reading other ratings gives you mixed feelings For me, I like his class because I passed very effortlessly. If you are an overachiever that wants to learn a lot then don't take his class.
professor rogers is one of the very few professors that I actually liked during my first semester here at FIT. he's a very easy going professor who likes to chit chat so It' easy to waste time talking to him. bring up his glove company he'll love you lol. His tests are almost exactly what we go over in class, his homework is easy and aren't long.
He is a funny cool guy and makes sure you understand what you're doing. It was a fun easy class that had homework but it was usually very easy to understand or follow.
A joke of a class with a joke of a teacher. He can't even be bothered to learn his own material, and cares more about his popularity than holding himself to any standards. You dont really learn anything unless you teach yourself. Had no respect for him as a teacher, which was disappointing. If you value a good education, dont bother with Mr. Rogers
A kind man, yet I did not learn anything from this class. He has a grasp on excel, but is awful at articulating it. He doesnt explain what hes doing as hes doing it, and frequently needs a student whos doing well in the class to correct him. The class was a trainwreck, and I wish I had taken a different professor. I was constantly stressed by him.
I had him for excel and would not recommend. He is a very kind person but when it comes to his teaching skills it almost seemed as if he knew less excel than we did. His lectures were a joke (not in a good way) and his grading felt random with no explanation for your mark. If you want to learn excel do not take this class.
Prof rogers is ... not worth your money and he's disorganized. it's difficult to keep track of literally everything. this class is teach yourself or go for extra help with classmates. There's a lot of homework and you can ONLY use FIT's computers to do them and submit them.
I really enjoyed Prof Rogers class. He really cares about his students and wants them to do well. He is very flexible and gives you a lot of study material to be prepared for his quizzes. I would 100% recommend taking his class.
He is honestly terrible. I don't see the point of taking his class, but for easy A I guess? Dreadful. Boring. Pointless. I wonder how he got to teach in FIT. You can take any of his class for an easy grade just gotta suffer the boredom.
Terrible professor. He gives an easy A but you learn very little.
Don't take this class. You can't learn anything from this class. His class is not organized. He uses google to find a definition. Since I'm not paying tuition to learn wikipedia definition, I won't ever take this class again.
Don't take this class
Horrific. Rodgers is the most unprofessional, unorganized, and biggest mess of a professor I've ever had. He cannot keep track of his own due dates, projects, assignments, etc. Didn't enter a single grade the whole semester. Doesn't remember what he assigns or when he made it due, worst teacher I have ever had. Avoid at ALL costs.
He is an energetic teacher. But you cannot learn anything from this class. His classes are not organized and he seems not clear about what he is teaching. He often uses google definition to look up the answer for the terms that he doesn't know.
Extremely caring and really wants the best for his students. Prof is such a nice person, his teaching is very chaotic with little to no structure had to learn everything on my own but excel is not hard, I would probably feel differently if it were in person though.
This class was a mess. There were no clear guidelines and he doesn't even remember what he assigned. He barely checked his email, no feedback for grading. I needed to pay $100 for some program which other classes never used and it doesn't even work well. I don't want to be rude but I don't even want to call him a professor. PLS AVOID!
Professor Rogers is very unprofessional and at times can come off as rude. He is unclear with his grading criteria and never knows the due dates for his assignments. His lectures are all over the place and you will most likely learn more from youtube videos. Do not take him if you want to learn about excel.
Believes in his students and pushes them to be their best. So thankful to have had him as a teacher! Very fluid class and gives opportunities for students to create and discuss creative ideas. Gets sidetracked easily if you have a brand you have done all the work if not you will be behind. He helps you get everything in it is just ALOT!
DONT take his class. He used the same videos he used for the class in 2021. He didnt fixe any mistakes he did in the 2021 course videos till now. (June 2022). He doesnt know his own course material. Avoid him!
His lecture videos are all messed up and in wrong folders. He keeps using 2020 lecture videos. AVOID HIM!
Overall a very kind person! But this class was so disorganized and overall a disaster each week. Would get frustrated with students easily, but in his defense, most didn't listen. Extremely unorganized and 0 planning nonetheless. Would disassociate all classes.
One of my favorite classes this year! He believes in his students to do well. He definitely can be disorganized but overall good professor. you have to pay attention or you will get lost easily. I would definitely take him if i get the chance. He's also very funny and likes to built relationships with his students!!
Kinda shocked me when he would teach and then not know the terms he was teaching, SO HE WOULD STRAIGHT UP GOOGLE WHAT WORDS MEANT IN FRONT OF US ON THE PROJECTOR. He has no clue what hes doing at any point in time, and during covid he asked us (girls) to take off our masks "to see your beautiful faces". Ok personality, horrible teacher.
Professor Rogers is a great guy but he doesn't know how to teach and is very unorganized. We would have to try to learn through google because he never knew what he was saying. I would avoid him at all costs and wouldn't take his class again. His lack of knowledge made me lose interest in the class.
genuinely one of the kindest people ever, but not a great professor. he has a lot of career experience but is extremely disorganized and not clear about his expectations. good news, the online homework teaches you excel/word, but his own assignments have no understandable explanation or rubric. the class is an easy A, but just confusing lol
He was practically useless. You'll get an A in the class but at the cost of your sanity. He was so disorganized and just wouldn't delete things so you had no idea what assignments you actually had to do. You can tell since his fashion dream died that hes just running through the motions of being a professor.
He doesn't respond to email, brightspace email, or messages. His brightspace is EXTREMELY disorganized- an absolute headache to navigate, the dates are wrong for assignments, it is an overwhelming amount of content for how simple the lessons are. The most concerning thing is though that I am unable to get a hold of him at all! Would not recommend!
Professor Rogers is a nice person, but he doesn't respond to emails is very disorganized and his MOS assignments don't match with the "Time Test" he gives. I do not recommend taking him for the online course of MG153, you won't really learn anything because his videos give that he's rushing through the lesson.
