This professor is one of the best I have ever had. He is very accessible and cares about us. He is very passionate about math and patient. I give him an A!
He was very mono-tone.. He is the "let's get down to business" type. So, he doesn't mess around.--which isn't bad. However, he is very helpful, his tests are easy and he goes through everything with GREAT detail. He reviews you for ALL the tests and spends a great amount of time helping you learn through something that might get confusing. :)
He teaches well and very helpful. He gives extra point questions too.
This is the BEST Math pro. that I have ever had. He makes sure that you understand everthing. To sum it up he really knows his material!! If you have to take a math class, and he teaches that class you HAVE to take it no matter what time it's at! Trust me you wont regret it!! ~J~ p.s if you fail his class your just an idiot
Great profressor.!!
Great teacher! he helps you if you dont understand, and he's very hot, so going to class is never boring :) Just do your hw and you will get an A on his class
GREAT TEACHER! VERY clear and organized. Do the hw, you'll thank yourself when you get your test back! DO all the hw, keep up, go to class, and you'll learn A LOT!
GREAT TEACHER!He is very clear and organized. I recommend him 110% ;) DO all the hw, keep up, go to class, and you'll learn A LOT!
Clear, lienient, helpful. Easy.
Good Teacher. Can be hard to understand, but he will help you however he can. Do the homework.
Great teacher! If you like notes that you can have and follow, he gives plenty. Patient and wants all to understand. Do all your homework! He gives reviews before each test and test is similar with different problems. Trust, he wants you to pass his class as well. Very understanding, just talk to him if you need extra help with any of the work or i
He is just plain great. He wants to help you, he is lenient, and a fair grader. His classes are clearly taught...and yes, he is cute. ;)
Great teacher! He explains everything in great detail and will answer any questions. He gives you every chance for success, the rest is up to you.
Great teacher, very helpful. He does go fast, so unless you are already familiar with subject you should go to class, take notes, and ask questions. He grades pretty easy, gives partial credit for attempting to answer test questions. Homework is due each test day and counts towards test points, this was very helpful to keep grades up.
Homework counts towards test. Make sure you do it anyway to make sure you understand the material. Very cool teacher.
Very clear, efficient teaching methods w/ plenty of examples and opportunities to practice problems in class. I hate math, but he makes it very bearable. If he notices the entire class does bad on a test, he will either grade on curve or do test corrections. Wish he was teaching cal II.
BEST MATH PROFESSOR EVER!!!!!!!! He is one of the most organized professors out there, and if the whole class has problems he helps for the classroom to understand. He also has a great sense of humor! I'm not one on Math, but he made Calculus so much fun. WISH HE WOULD TEACH CAL 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Aly is great. Wants everyone to succeed. Very helpful. Really worked with me when I had a problem with another student in the class. Gets very excited teaching calculus. Very good vibe in class.
Obviously calculus is hard, especially for people like me who never took it in high school. But he was a very great professor and I definetly could handle the material. Homework is due for a completion grade and the tests are not meant to be tricky. He also gives partial credit and will curve if everyone doesn't do well. I highly recommend him.
Took Prof Yahya for College Algebra and I am so glad I did because he is one of the best profs I've ever had. He comes in and immediately starts to lecture, and he explains things very well so that math retards such as myself can understand. He is very passionate about the subject and really cared that the class understood. An Excellent prof.
Very kind, helpful professor. Extremely patient. Moves a little slow. Gives a ton of homework, but that is to be expected of a math class. Attendance not required, but will drop you if you aren't attending and are failing. If you go to class and listen to his lectures the tests will be a cakewalk. Really good guy :)
Very helpful and I am bad at math. Gives extra credit on test corrections also curves grades. Wants you to learn and do well. Uses my math lab. Moves fast but offers extra help in office. Will explain it a different way if you aren't getting it. Really nice guy and good teacher.
His lectures are fast, but very clear and well demonstrated. He answers questions but within a window of time so that it won't take time away from the lectures. I must admit that simply coming to his lectures was enough to pass the tests, but studying the notes and doing the homework will get you an A.
For as long as I can remember, I have suffered from "math anxiety." For this reason, I ended up taking and dropping multiple Math courses at ACC... until I signed up for College Algebra with Yahya. He explains everything from multiple prospectives and is clear about what will be on the test. Best Math teacher at ACC, by FAR!
Professor Yahya is great! I took him 2 semesters in a row and I wouldn't take any other math class but with him. He elaborates everything. Only has homework online through Mymathlab and 4 test! TAKE HIM!!!!!
Yahya seemed to focus on concepts helpful for Physics; at least it helped me. He's thorough. He checks hmwk. We had to rush some: he spent too much time on pre-cal instead of telling us to brush up on our own - esp the lady who constantly interrupted his lecture (annoying). but he is super nice. & tall, dark and handsome doesn't hurt.
Yahya is really nice! He is super leniant on grading the tests. His lectures make sense if you pay attention in class. He is a little hard to understand sometimes but you get what he's saying. It is critical to do the online homework, that can make a letter grade difference at the end of the semester
Professor Yahya is wonderful. Explains everything in great detail. He is very fair when it comes to grading. Take him!
Professor Yahya is awesome. He managed to make calculus interesting and understandable. He is very good at being able to break down concepts, step-by-step, related them to what you have already learned, and build in such a way that it is never overwhelming. He is very accessible and willing to help; he clearly wants his students to succeed.
He was an awesome teacher. very clear when explaining the material and always willing to explain it again. On many occassions he even helped me via email when I could not meet with him face to face! I loved his class and looked forward to going. GREAT PROFESSOR!!
Very nice person who obviously loves teaching math. Explains things very well and shows each step in every example. Answers questions thoroughly. Offered test reviews outside of class before three of the tests and one in class before the last test. Homework counted for 10% (mostly completion) and each test counted equally for 90%. No final.
Professor Yahya is absolutely the best math professor I have had at ACC. He gives very detailed lectures and is very fair when it comes to grading. Go to class, take notes and do the hw, and you shall do very well on the test. Take Him, you won't regret it.
I took Pre-Calculus with Aly. He makes sure you understand the problems he assigns. For tests, he hands out a list of sample problems to work on that are similar on the test. This class takes quite a bit of studying to do well, but I highly recommend taking it with Aly. He even helps you understand word problems.
This guy is awesome. He explains everything in such great detail that i found myself wanting him to go faster. Study the math and you will do fine. he is a bit quirky though
Intense class & Prof Yahya is very intense as well. Attendance taken. MUST have the textbook. Tons of homework assigned with great Test Reviews. No final! If you don't understand the material completely, you won't be able to do well on tests. Yes, quirky, but cares about his students. I'd take him again.
This guy is a miracle worker. Took college algebra for the third time (first time with him) and passed with a B! He recognizes your effort and will remember it when it counts. Y'all I am really mathematically challenged. This was honestly the first time I can remember since elementary that I not only passed math tests, but got high grades on them!
I found the class to be tough, even though I ended up getting an A. He is a good teacher and the notes you take are like having a book that you can refer to when you get to Calculus. Only 4 tests determine your grade and they tended to be a somewhat tricky.
He teaches the material well enough that anyone can keep up, and you will actually learn the stuff for sure. However, he tries too hard to not lose anyone on any little step so you spend a lot of time answering "Okay, and what was 2 times 3 again?" type questions, and we ended up missing more interesting proofs and things because of the time taken.
Professor Aly is amazing. He makes everything so easy and clear. I took Math 1314, I really recommend to get the e version of the book (make sure that comes with My math access because you will need it for homework) to save money.
I took college algebra with him in the 5.5 weeks and i was scared he might rushed us through but he did amazing job: proving every formulas, patiently answering questions, engaging students during lectures and above all completing the syllabus. Be prepared to do tons of homework both on mymathlab and written. Great math prof.
Thank you great class
Great class.
It had been 14 years since I had been back in school so I had to complete this course to move on to College Algebra. Professor Yahya went out of his way to help me with word problems due to my incapability of understanding them. He wrote them all down, step by step, took a snap shot and sent it to me. Keep in mind this was around 10:00 pm. Amazing!
He is very good professor, his strengths include, relating theories, proving equations , and staying on track. you will learn what you need to know. His only noticeable shortcoming is in handling highly specific questions. I Highly recommend, his work ethic is impeccable.
Aly is very clear and does not leave out any information. Structure and clarity are my two key points to any good math class and he does this PERFECTLY. The only irritating thing is that he is VERY thorough in explaining every step to every problem which gets old because your like i know this lets get moving, but he means well. I recommend.
This is my favorite Math teacher in ACC, his lectures organized and his transitions are fluent. He makes sure that you deeply understand the material by breaking everything down. I wish I can take him for calculus3, but unfortunately he doesn't teach it yet. I use his layout and methods to organize my notes. His classes are enjoyable as well.
I've always believed that i was just not intelligent when it comes to math. i never thought that i could get through a math class and get an A no less. I took the 5.5 week condensed class and dont get me wrong, it was a lot of work, but he makes everything so clear. I got a 97.5% in this class when i usually got 67% grades in highschool math.
Calculus II was tough over the summer, but this class went well! He explains concepts clearly in a timely matter and always offers help outside of class and through emails. Tests over what he reviews and they're easier than the homework. Allows you to correct one test too! Amazing way to present calculus to students, I wish he could teach Calc III!
Best math professor I've had. Clearly explains material and assigns homework that is relevant for the tests. I fully understood Calculus 2 after taking his class. Highly recommended.
I took him for online trig. His reviews only cover like 40% of what is actually on his tests. Very unhelpful when it comes to trying to get a hold of him. Tests are weighted at 90%, so even if you get 100s on all the homework (and there's a TON) and an 80 on the tests, you'll, at best, receive an 83%.
eh he was alright knowledgable but at times difficulty explaining the topic to students. The only reason I did well is because I took the math class the year before
The online homework is a ton of work and the book along with the online tutorials are conflicting. I didn't like the online tutorials as they didn't make any sense. The book teaches better. The professor isn't very helpful either when trying to reach him. Also he's very nitpicky on exams, he doesn't state what he's looking for when grading.
Took him for developmental math, then took him for Math 1314 online. You DO use mymathlab for online homework as well as written homework from the textbook. Exams are on campus. This is your standard online math class. Yahya was awesome in person and responds quickly to emails.
he talks fast class is organized clearly if you do all the homework on time you'll probably get an A but there are other profs who teach calc 2 easier so i might check them out.
I took his online intermediate algebra course and it's a lot of work. I didn't feel well prepared for exams because his reviews and assignments didn't match up to the questions on his exams.
I'm so glad I switched to Aly's class! He explains things clearly, is organized, and doesn't waste time. He UNDERSTANDS calculus! If your answer doesn't perfectly match the one in the teacher's manual, he still knows if it's right and gives full credit--no "simplifying" required. Partial credit given on tests and extra credit for test corrections.
He does a very good job of explaining fundamental concepts, and then applying them to problems during lectures. If you go to class, you will understand the homework, and if you understand the homework, you will do well on the tests. Lectures are very intense, but are well organized and helpful
He is hard to read at first. He is serious most of the time, but laughs. Ask questions or he will move on. ( good job is an indicator he is moving on). He uses blackboard. His reviews help with tests. If you show up to class and take notes you will pass the 4 tests. He will work with you during office hours. He is very caring
An amazing professor who goes into depth with his lectures, always offers help, tests are not hard if you pay attention in class and do homework. He began to not take attendance mid semester, but of course continue to go to class!
This professor is so helpful and organized. He is willing to help outside of class. He has hmwk due every Monday, & 4 tests. Graded on homework and tests. He likes participation and feedback during lectures. He has math review days. If you go to class, take notes and do homework you will get an A. He is so lovely. He really grows on you.
Took him for College Algebra. His class is incredibly easy, can get an A without the textbook but still recommended. Professor Yahya is a quirky man and unintentionally hilarious, loved him.
Took Calc II, and never have I seen a class hold so many student throughout semester. He's very clear, makes difficult material easy, and is funny in his own ways. Provides handouts that take care of explaining everything, and homework is done online. For any math class, Aly Yahya is the best.
He is a great professor that explains things in great detail. Helps you understand the fundamentals of math, connecting the dots from Pre Calc to Calc1. With the notes taken from his lectures, it is easy to complete assignments while referring to notes. Make sure to practice homework questions to be prepared for exams!
Now that I'm in pre-cal, I really appreciate what professor Yahya was able to accomplish in his college algebra course. He made sure we were ahead of the game by really teaching algebra well. P.S. he rounded up my grade from 89.56 to an A which was awesome, he also drops the lowest 2 quiz grades. If you're worried about the accent, don't be.
The best math professor I had! He has a well-structured lecture and explains in-depth every concept. He is easy to follow and if you will get lost or don't understand just ask questions, he will patiently explain to you everything you need to know! That's how all math classes should look like. + Before the test, he gives you a list of prep problems
not sure if its because im not a math wiz to understand what he's doing but he does go very fast lecturing; barely gives you any time to copy what's on board. most of his reviews are on his test but then he always gives you 4 other sections to do for homework and aren't even on the exam itself, other than that he's really helpful in office hours.
Prof. Aly is great teacher. Always helpful in his office. He gives you easy points on the tests which is very helpful to earn a good grade. He goes very detail in depth of chapter. Offers one test to redo. He doesn't take points off that much which part I liked.
he is incredible! one of the best math professors who is genuinely nice, caring, and capable of delivering clear and understandable lectures. he also prints our "summary" sheet for each chapter, which includes the important formula and all. homework graded by completion. practice from the book and FROM LECTURE and you'll ace the exams
Good teacher, his online class now that we are distance learning is very unorganized. His wifi always goes out and he ALWAYS goes over the time which is very difficult to deal with when you have other classes. He films from his phone in a dim lit room that's really hard to see. His tests aren't too hard and hw is on connect math.
Professor Yahya was great. Straight forward lectures and provided note handouts every class. Fair amount of homework. Explains topics very well and provides lots of examples. Would highly recommend.
Lectures are filmed on phone and are very hard to follow along. Class is very lecture heavy and attendance is required. The homework and exams were very easy, however if you are not used to learning math at a quick pace then this class would be very difficult. He also hates when you ask questions that are on syllabus. Would not take again.
He's very fair with his grading (love that partial credit), will take time to explain things to you if you need it, and is very receptive to feedback. The test reviews prepare you very well for the test, homework has unlimited attempts. He did have trouble keeping pace with summer semester but I think he'd be great during a 16-week session.
This professor is extremely not useful. I would go to his office hours for help yet he wont do anything it felt like he was just ranting. Also this professor online is actually hard, he records everything on his phone. You can barely hear him and he is not good at teaching. If you struggle at math DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS AT ALL.
Because of COVID, our classes are online. He is not useful at all online. He does not know how to properly use the internet at all. if you are wondering to take the class, I recommend not too.
I took this class online, and it was awful. All students felt like they were alome doing all the work. I genuinely felt like I had no professor at all. When I had questions about certain problems I had to search the internet how to do them, because he was no help at all. Very bad at using technology. Is not understanding at all. DO NOT TAKE.
soo much homework, and as if online wasnt already hard enough he hardly gives partial credit and literally always went over lecture time. you cant miss more than a few classes and you have to do hundreds of problems for homework over the semester. i literally worked so hard for this class and did most of the assignments just to get a D, NEVER AGAIN
Bothered me that he decided to use an actual whiteboard in a not well lit room, rather than a program on a computer, but I got used to it. ALEKS is used for written hw, online hw, and proctored exams. He engaged with the class during lectures, but most lectures were just examples. He did post the criteria we learned on bb, incase you miss class.
There is a lot of homework. The class was online, you had online homework and written homework from the textbook. But the questions PREPARED you for the test. Every test question was very recognizable. He is not a tough grader. I am not good at math at all. If you are average in math and put in the work you will do fine!
Early on in the semester I asked the professor a question and he told me to use Google. Tests are worth 90% of the grade. He barely gives partial credit for long tough problems. He doesn't give option for extra credit or to redo any assignments or test that you may have struggled with. Oh, but he does drop your lowest test score, so here's a crumb.
I took College Algebra in Fall 2021 (due to Covid) and I do not regret his class. He teaches very well but writes a little sloppy when doing actual math problems but nothing crazy to read. There is a textbook to do math hw but not mandatory to read. He is very accessible to email outside of class and is willing to help. He drops the 2 low % hw.
This is a review for an asynchronous online course. It has been a disaster. He posts no lectures or anything, you teach everything to yourself. HW questions for credit that require equipment syllabus says is not needed. My online experience has been awful. Avoid at all costs.
Pointless classes, no lectures stupid Pearson exercise takes 3 days to finish cannot skip topic every exam you have to write 9 sections about 50 problems, no learning dropped class in the mid semester cuz no-one can be a professor or ability to teach, which if you call this class, taken a class from actual setting much better this just foul play
Pros: Very good teacher. He's very thorough and goes above and beyond to make sure you understand the material. The problems on the tests were very similar to the homework and to the examples he provided in lecture. Cons: Lots of homework - but if you do some every day it won't be too hard to keep up with
Would constantly prompt the class to ask a question if they had any and if so would re-explain the topic/problem and provide new insight/different explanation. Tedious weekly homework alongside written homework which was due on test days. 4 tests, once every 3 weeks with a final exam on the final day of class. No extra credit, final replaced a test
Awesome, just do your homework and study for the tests and you will pass.
I had Professor Yahya for MATH 1324 during the Spring 2021 semester and absolutely enjoyed having him as a professor. Professor Yahya is very clear on class rules and expectations, and is very kind, friendly, understanding, and helpful too.
Professor Yahya is really awesome . generous, and smart who always cares about his students and always helps if you struggle. study well and practice and do the homemworks and you will get an A. I would definitely take him again.
Math is never easy at least not to me. This class however was actually really enjoyable. I learned a lot which I'm suprised by because this was an online class with no meeting time. Everything was super straight forward if you put in the effort to stay on track with the course. Take the class you won't regret it !
Professor Yahya is an incredible professor! As long as you pay attention during lectures, ask questions, and do the homeworks/test reviews, you will be set!! He is quick to respond to emails, and always helps his students whenever they are confused over a topic. I definitely recommend this professor, he is incredible!
The Worst professor you could ever take, does not help at all, his lectures are the most heavy and boring EVER, his test are not understandable, wouldn't go out his way to help you with anything, even if you are failing, wouldn't even do extra credit, I DO NOT RECOMMEND, save yourself the trauma and the money and take someone BETTER!!!!!!!
WORST PROFESSOR EVER!!!!!!
This is the first time I have ever had to do this about any professor. He just doesn't care about you, super petty as well. 0 lectures, only PowerPoints (which are useless and don't help at all). Basically had to teach myself the entire course. The HW is so long for no reason. The tests get harder and harder, some don't make sense. LOCKDOWN BROWSER
Very Lecture heavy but I mean it's math so I can't complain. All work is done through Alek, Most of his assignment are from Alek module and written Homework questions from the textbook. He gives out a lot of homework so no slacking off!. There are exams which are also done through Alek and with a lockdown browsers so beware if you hate that thing.
I am not a fan of his teaching style. Everything we learned is through the online platform ALEKS but it's not great for memorization and practice. The exams are difficult even if you have a general understanding of the unit. Lots and lots of homework and no extensions whatsoever.
Homework was pretty easy but it's a lot, they're taken on ALEKS. Didn't have any problems with this class other than the tests being heavily graded on.
Good professor overall
I mean, it is a bit of a difficult class, and his accent doesn't necessarily help. He can sometimes be a bit disheveled, trying to fit all sections in the semester. His exams were not too bad though I would not say easy by any means, proctored, and short time limit. I struggled a bit in his class for sure, but not a bad guy. Not TOO much homework.
Challenging but manageable with effort. Avoid distractions, utilize the textbook and unstuck study for study prep - it really helped me understand the material better. Overall, a fair professor who expects engagement.
We had him twice as a sub and he was hard to follow. All of us struggled keeping up, he also can come across as being very patronizing and treat you like a kid. in our second class with him he interrupted students asking questions about a due project and reprimanded them for asking. It was rude and unnecessary. half of us left class in solidarity.
