Pretty clear in class, nice guy too. The material went fast, and there was a lot of work, but he really seemed to care about how we did in class.

He tries to be funny, but he is not. Over complicate everything. If you enjoy accounting he is great.

Very good at explaning things. He makes sure everyone understands stuff, and goes over it again if they dont. He gives a reasonable amount of course work, and is very approachable.

Very useful class. Alym was very helpful on e-mail and was so friendly to talk to. I already have started using some of the notes from class at work. Alym really knows Excel well, but expects a lot of the class. Class was more work than I thought it would be.

The course is great as the concepts you learn are applicable in real world scenarios. An A in this course is achievable, just put in the time and practice practice. I highly recommended him!!

Halfway through the term already, we have a ton of assignments and quizzes every week, but he actually makes accounting fun. The class would otherwise be SOOOOO boring. Great teacher.

He makes an effort to keep class entertaining. His midterms are straight forward if you do all the wileyplus assignments + quizzes. He's a fair marker but tends to put us into accounting groups in the beginning of the semester which actually doesnt show much help because a lot of people are freeloaders. I'll recommend him

OMG he is such a busy guy, but very helpful, he will be there and sit there to help you. He tries his very best to help everyone while he multitasks during his office hrs, he cares about our learning, answers ur emails like in i dont know, like in 2 mins. The NICEST and most helpful prof I have ever had at Kwantlen in my 4 years. Replies to emails within minutes sometimes, and never takes longer than a day to reply. His replies to emails are always so helpful, and he asks if you need further clarification. Lots of work, and not an easy class, but he's extremely fair.

SO helpful. Makes concepts extremely easy to understand. And if you need more clarification, he never makes you feel like you're wasting his time. Replies to emails well within a day, sometimes even in minutes. A really hard class, especially if you hate finance, but he makes it easy to understand.

Alym is a great teacher, he's obviously passionate about accounting as well as teaching it. He explains the material very well and is always willing and available to help out with questions and problems. He manages to get everyone engaged and has a great sense of humour. I wish he was teaching Arts- I would have definitely picked his classes.

AVOID AVOID AVOID at all time. Exams are super difficult almost half the class failed the midterms.

You really learn things in this class. TBH Alym did a great job by pushing us to do well. you need to be decent at Excel though. 3 midterms, each worth 30% of total mark.. and 10% quizzes and assignments. I would take him again for sure.

He is a very interactive and funny teacher. He uses real life examples which clarifies most of the difficulties one has. One of the best profs in Kwantlen. You will need to study. Hes very fair in marking and work given as well

Alym is passionate about accounting and pushes his students to work hard. It is true his exams are very difficult but are not unfair. He explained that time was an issue and showed us certain trick questions AHEAD OF TIME. He was available after class and even came to a student organized study session. Great teacher, but not an easy course by any means. His teaching style is to have students read the chapters in the textbook, then he goes over the material briefly in class to clarify what you read. If you are willing to put the time and effort into this course, you should do well. Don't be afraid to ask him questions, I found him super helpful.

I'll start by saying he's a very nice guy. He's always prepared to help students with the course, and replies to emails very quickly. That being said though, it is a very tough course. Notes aren't that helpful. The exams are also extremely difficult, be careful. The class average on the exams were scary low considering it's a first year course..

Always willing to help, a real jokester. His midterms are VERY hard and different from class work sometimes. The class itself is hard and alym always tries his best to make sure all the students are comfortable with the material. His daughter is so adorable!!!!

Overall, I liked Alym as a professor and I learned a lot from. I also took 4120 with him and he was good. His actually is a very good teacher but his exams are somehow hard. However, this pushed me to do good. I studied so hard for the class and did well. Take him if you want to actually learn something but skip him if you just want an easy pass.

ALYM is a good prof and I was lucky to take two classes with him. This class is very beneficial as it teaches you how real financial accounting should be done according to CPA handbook. There's not much to explain because the class is case based. No.1 tip is not to skim the cases he assigns and try to know what IFRS sections are important.

He's good. Has the right knowledge and does his work right. Show up in class and do your homework.

This class is stressful but Alym somehow makes it a bit easier for you. Do the online assignments to show him you are really trying, and he may give you several marks when you need those to pass. I think that is very generous.

4320 is a boring class but he tries to make it bearable - however lectures at times felt disjointed and unmemorable. Textbook is horrible & to do well you have to remember questions on Moodle. Exam written Qs were far too long and tedious. Online HW is a waste of time since it differs from exams. Alym is the best for this class at KPU.

Taking 4320 with Alym was super helpful for me. 4320 is a hard course but he shows step by step how to work a problem and the homework (Connect) was super helfpul (despite it being frustrating sometimes). He connects the questions to real world examples and makes the course material easier to understand. Make use of office hours!

Alym is very accommodating to everyone's learning levels and styles - he would adjust his speed so that everyone would be on the same page. He is passionate about what he teaches and relates it to CPA expectations. He also cares about the well-being of students and stands up for students who are getting bullied in the classsroom.

The professor is funny and really qualified for this course. The instructions are clear and very helpful not only for completing the assignments but also for developing a good habit towards CPA designation. You will soon realize that what you learned from his course is what required for Core 1.

Alym is a great teacher, he teaches this course step by step to help you to familiarize with the Excel. Although the test is kind heavy, you will get a really good grade if you just follow him in class and practice at home. The project is a little bit challenging, but you will learn a lot from it.

Alym is very nice and really knows his material. His pre-recorded lectures and the textbook are #1, live lectures aren't important. His tests are hard, but basically the same as the homework, which is also really hard. If you can do one, you can do the other. His testing times are really really short so be ready to fly during the midterm and final.

Engaging lectures despite being online, it's possible to do well in the class but it definitely requires work. Easy to contact if you need additional assistance and seems like a nice guy overall.

As a mature student and business owner, I benefited tremendously from Alym's class. He is approachable, friendly, highly professional and always available to help you whenever you have a question. He prepares you to succeed, and he recognizes the effort and what you do well in his class. He always focuses on the positives. I highly recommend him.

Alym is such a great prof! His lectures are so great, he also had videos explaining all the material posted on moodle which I found super useful. He truly cares about his students and wants them to suceed. Second time taking this prof, he always ask his students what he could improve on. He is always open to feedback. No complaints tho he is great!

Recorded lectures. Everything is easy except for the exams. I ran out of time on all the exams, so you need to be quick. He gives harsh feedback on the presentation projects but they are very valuable. Overall, good prof.

Alym is the best professor, I am excited to learn more from him in my core 1 or 2 (CPA). He is so caring for his students. He wants everyone to participate in the class because thats what this course demands. Also, this course prepares you for the CPA.

Don't listen to these guys that just complain about Alym. They aren't staying on top of the homework. YOU HAVE TO STUDY A LOT, AND I MEAN A LOT. Because as a student who is very mature and has years of industry experience, this class enhanced my knowledge exceptionally well and now I can relate accounting to real world examples. Just take him.
