Great professor,very intellegent. honestly, the best math teacher i have ever had and im not good at math. if you are looking for an easy A, this is not the teacher-you have to do the work and you have to come to class. i learned a lot from her and she is fair in grading and assigning hw. hw assignments were not too hard and due every week & short.

Super nice. do the work and you will pass the class. her way of teaching is amazing. learned a lot from her. dont expect to build a friendship with her. Her exams are what she gives you on the study guides, so do them. and she lets you have a page of notes. most math teachers dont do that. take her but DO NOT MISS CLASS.

I took stats in high school and failed, with her class I have an A. Do the homework and come to class and you pass. Her study guides are extremely helpeful in comprehending the difficult things. She responds to email super fast! GREAT teacher.

Homework and attendance are necessary, but you get to use a whole sheet of notes on tests. Easy class if you show up, and she's really easy to follow.

Absolutely love her. I hate math but now I love statistics. Classes and HW are mandatory and helpful. I would totally sign up to take another class with her!

Tries to make things fun, but it doesnt really work. She's a good person math is just boring. She enjoys when people speak up and ask for help. She gets annoyed if no one talks during class.Class examples are wayy easier than homework. tests aren't bad. but you HAVE to go to class...

i loved her! She's extremely nice, and funny. She really helped me with anything i needed help with. Before going into that class i hated math, but she made it much more easy to understand. She makes the class fun and she always has a bubbly personality. Even though math isn't the best subject it was my favorite class because she was the teacher!

GREAT TEACHER! Wasn't looking forward to taking this class but got an A! She is an amazing teacher. You don't need your Math book because she teachers via lecture notes that you print out. You do all your homework on MySTATlab. If you do the homework and attend class you'll do fine. MySTAT Lab is a godsend, you learn through repetition and lot

Stats is a difficult class in itself, but the way that she breaks it down is clear. The best thing that you could do for this course is to show up. She has the notes and workbooks ready for you to print out so all you have to do is pay attention. Very willing to help, you just have to ask for it. Great teaching methods!

Such a wonderful math teacher. She actually cares about her students, offers help to those who need it, and teaches in a way everyone can understand! Her tests and homework are always in sync. I would take Alyson for every single math class if I could.

Alyson was an awesome teacher! i found Stats to be the hardest class that i've ever taken in college, but she is so nice, and answers questions thoroughly. she uses StatLab which is helpful cause it corrects you on your homework. no need to buy the textbook. Do good on the exams and you'll pass! She's pretty Hot as well! highly recommend her!

Took stats last semester and had to drop it because it was so difficult. Took it again this semester but with Butcher and passed it easily. She's very nice and makes sure everyone understands. Math can be pretty difficult so I would suggest taking her

Great Teacher! Uses mystatlab and attendance is required! Her lectures are very clear and she answers all questions. Reasonable amount of homework assigned for each section. And a very simple project is due. If you are good at math this will be an easy A, otherwise I think any student can at least get a B!

Although she makes the course more accessible,she gives a lot of work and the on-campus exams are very difficult. I put in a lot of time but barely passed.

I really enjoyed her Calc 1 class. I was really nervous going into this, because I struggled with Amy Vu's trig class. Boy, what a difference. I can honestly say that Butcher is my favorite math teacher at West Valley. Make sure you study, do the homework, and ask for help if you need it. You build on what you learn, and if you slack off, good luck

THE BEST math teacher I've ever had!! She made math fun and something that I could understand for once in my life! I never wanted to miss a day and it became my favorite class by the end of semester. great teacher!!

Super nice teacher! She really cares about her students and helps when you need it. Also great personality! She does give you hw everyday but to better prepare you for the tests/quizzes. Each week she assigns a quiz then the next week a test and so forth.

I enjoyed taking this class with this teacher. I hate math but her teaching method was clear and I actually understood it. She made me wanna go to class everyday. Will definitely take again for Math10.

GREAT teacher. I'm not a math person by any means, and she kept me motivated to work hard and pass. I ended up with a C, but I worked hard and appreciated the help. She is very helpful, and compassionate to your schedule and life.

I love this teacher. I was always so bad at math, and this was my 3rd time taking algebra. Butcher is the reason why i was able to pass, shes tough, and makes you work, but she is an amazing. Thank you for helping me understand the material!

Master in Calc 1 and 2, If I could, I would take her for Calc 3 and 4 also, but she doesn't teach them. very clear, uses power points. and homeworks are fairly easy.

I must say Mrs. Butcher is a superstar! She is one of the most helpful professors I have had and I am almost graduated! So that speaks volumes. She is real, down to earth, a team player, and knows how to make her class feel good. She literally tells us we make her day and when she sees us she is happy! Such a wonderful heart and great spirit!

Alyson has an amazing ability to explain complex mathematics in a way that is easy to grasp. I was worried taking a math class, but after a couple weeks I grasped the subject and began to actually move ahead of the class. She is always easy to contact, and is very understanding if you need help or have an emergency that will take you away.

Alyson is an amazing Statistics professor. She also majored in Statistics which is why you should take her for Stats because she knows her material. Lectures are very clear and straight forward, Gives extra credit opportunities, always want to help her students and a top notch personality. I highly recommend her.

Alyson is a great teacher! She really breaks down the material for you to understand and is incredibly nice. Attendance is key for points and for understanding. She responds quickly to emails and really cares about her students. I am HORRIBLE with math and I passed with a B!

I love Alyson! She is honestly one of the best teachers I've ever had. I am not a math person AT ALL but I took her 106s and 010 courses and aced them both. She's incredibly helpful and makes everything super clear. She's also great at explaining things further if you're ever confused. I would definitely recommend her!

I took Alyson for two different math classes, 103 and 10. She is absolutely amazing, I never liked math before, but I am growing to love it because she explains math so well and breaks it down to easily understandable chunks. She tries to only talk in lectures for around 15 minutes so that you don't get bored by her droning on. Best teacher ever!

Alyison Butcher is a person. Anytime I had a problem in her class , I told her , even if it was a problem that I had with her personally . She would then make adjustments , because she is a person who is willing to grow, learn, be there for you when you need. She's a human And she will help you when you need it . I promise .

Alyson is a great teacher. Very kind and also very helpful. Her lecture notes are easy to follow and she never puts anything she didn't teach in class on the tests.

Alyson is one of the most genuine and caring teachers I've ever had. She wants you to do your best, and she will do anything in her power to make sure you do so--as long as you put in the same effort. Her teaching style makes it easier to grasp the material. Math isn't my strongest subject, but I earned the A!! She is passionate, very intelligent; go to her office hours if you need extra help, especially for the stats project, she won't steer you wrong. Just be prepared with your q's, she tends to get a line. She is an awesome teacher!

I had Professor Butcher for Calc 2 last semester and she is a PHENOMENAL professor. She is so intelligent and caring towards her students. Calc 2 is a very difficult course and demands a lot of time and effort, but she is there for you especially in office hours. Be sure to complete the Webassign homework as they help with quiz/test prep. TAKE HER!

My favorite teacher hands down! I had her for Stats and she made the material so easy to learn and understand. She helps with examples from the book for homework. She also cracks a joke here and there which makes class a bit more fun.

Best math teacher I have ever had. She explains things very well in class and is also very helpful in her office hours if needed. I had her for 3B, which is not an easy course, but if you pay attention and take good notes there is no reason why anyone should not pass her class. She has such a great attitude and makes you want to be there.

She cancelled class a lot this semester, but still managed to teach us everything we needed to know without much cramming. She's incredibly smart. She is wonderful at explaining concepts further. Her exams are difficult so I highly recommend going to office hours or the MRC, Alyson and the tutors are super helpful!

She was a very good teacher! One of the best math teachers I have had. The only problem I had was that I had an A the entire semester and her final dropped me down to a B. She gives a lot of work and grades really hard so you have to try hard and show up to class! If you can find a teacher who doesn't grade hard I would recommend to take him/her.

Puts everything into simple words. Didn't have to pay attention at certain times in class yet I still managed to understand what was going on. Her powerpoint notes are great. She did grade hard on the final, but I managed to survive. She did call in sick many times, however she still managed to teach us everything. Well rounded teacher.

great teacher. explains the steps to solve a problem really well. She's very nice and EXTREMELY HELPFUL when asking questions/during office hrs.

Allison is a great instructor. I went to visit her during office hours at least once a week, and she always cleared things up for me. Class was a little fast past, but she was very organized. She uses MyStatLab for homework. Every week you have a quiz or a test.

Amazing math teacher. She goes over concepts and examples very clearly and at a pace which allows you to grasp the material well. She has hard exams, but she's willing to help you out and encourages asking questions. As long as you ask for help and do some practice problems, you'll do fine in the class!

By far my favorite teacher ever. There's about 10 min of homework a night on average, but if you come to class and participate everything's super easy to understand. Funny and great at explaining stats. I've always hated math, but now I actually really like it thanks to this course!!!

She is incredible however, I wouldnt take her again because she missed so many classes that I ended up dropping. I dont hold it against her because I know it was for good reason.

Such a wonderful professor. I was really hesitant to take calculus, but she made the class so simple and fun. She made her notes easy to understand, and the homework always correlated with what we learned in class. Her review sheets and quizzes are very similar to the exam format, which was helpful. I wish she was teaching Math03B! Take this class!

Amazing teacher. Very clear lectures very easy to understand. 8+ office hours and easy grader on exams. A lot of homework online. Need to complete with 100% for 5/5 in grade book but there is unlimited tries. Homework is very tedious but worth it for high exam grades. My best teacher so far. Makes calculus wayyyy less stress.

Great professor, loves the subject and cares about her students learning. She provides power-point notes of her lectures, brief in-class group activities, and helps during tests/quizzes. Her lectures are easy to understand and she has a great sense of humor. She makes math fun sand easy to understand. Use e-textbook through mystatslab.

The pace of the class is very reasonable. The course covers 8 chapters but the homework tends to be more difficult than the exam problems. There are 5 exams, including the final. She partially credits you for effort on exam and quiz problems. The homework can sometimes be very long and tedious because of the ancient program it uses - WileyPlus.

Butcher is an AMAZING teacher, she is very caring with her students and wants the best for everyone. I HIGHLY recommend taking a math class with her as she helps out very well! She is a really great math teacher too with accessible lectures. She is organized and clear to the point and I would definitely take her classes again for calculus!

Genuinely the best math teacher I've ever had. She clearly explains everything and goes over things so detailed that you can't miss it. Wow, I never thought I would have to take math courses like Calculus in college but Alyson makes such a class actually interesting and I want to learn and reach out for help. She's great at explaining concepts such as these to help me understand the material because many of it can be very difficult :) .

One of the best math teachers I have ever had. Her lectures are truly outstanding. She is extremely friendly, helpful, and reasonable with grading. Very tech-savvy as well; she records and uploads her lectures to Canvas so I could watch them afterward (I used them heavily). She instilled an interest in statistics in me. Take Professor Butcher.

She does a great job on the way she organizes her notes majority done on PowerPoint and annotated during class. She provides you all the files to the notes and some really crucial formula cheat sheets that give you the exact language you need leaving a ________ that allows you to know what formula to plug in for each the data statistics.

Extremely caring and understanding. She helped me through a super hard time and listened to me when no one else did.

From getting a 2 on the AP statistics test to getting A's on every test in this class; I think that tells you everything you need to know. She was great and honestly made statistics fun. I recommend getting TI-84 plus:)

I would give Alyson my left kidney if she needed it. She helped me so much. I didn't get the best grade in the class but she helped me so much more then anyone ever has. Take her class if you can, she is amazing.

Alyson has genuinely been one of the best professor/teachers I have ever had. I've always struggled with math, and haven't received any grades above a B in past math classes, but Alyson changed that. She was always making sure I was caught up when I missed classes and always made the class know she valued all of us and wants us to succeed.

Took Alyson in the Fall 2024 semester and she really is an amazing teacher. For those that find math difficult, she is very understanding and will go back during lectures if you have any questions. MyStatLab does cost money but homework was very light and easy. Alyson is hilarious and makes learning math enjoyable. Highly recommend her for stats!

Great teacher! I tried taking stats at my last university and dropped because I was going to fail, but with Alyson, I got an A. She explains concepts clearly and really cares about helping you succeed. However, I don't feel like I fully grasp stats at a deeper level, but if I took more stats classes, maybe I would develop a better understanding.

The most prepared and guided lectures I've been to, answers questions thoroughly and puts in more effort in the class than most professors, clear guidelines. Highly recommend.
