Miss Martin in incredibly disorganized. The majority of our class fails her quizzes. On the plus side, I get A's on the essays. Be prepared to read a lot of Feminist Material and write about it.

i honestly think DONT take her. She is unorganized and you don't ever get your papers back. her quizzes consist of her making up questions during the quiz and are small details from a book. Most people fail so it is pointless. On her essays she doesnt let you know what shes asking for. I worked hard on all my essays and got B's and C's.

I would not take her. She would tell me to add details to my paper, then give me a C for too many details. She is unorganized, unclear as to what she expects and just overall unhelpful.

Seriously, I advise you don't take her class. She goes off in laughing fits and can sometimes be a bit bipolar. Her way of grading papers varies from each paper itself..only tihng fun was that we did origami once.

NOT a big fan of her at all. Unorganized, unclear on assignments, confusing, never returns emails, and if you miss a class she isnt lenient (she told me the hw was on the syllabus & the syllabus just said the title of the hw and didnt explain it at all) 10 quizzes, 3 essays, 2 paragraphs, 2 tests, 1 in class essay, 1 oral presentation, & the final.

I had a 4.0 until Martin. She is the most incompetent, lazy, clueless professor you will ever have. She gave back 3 essays on the day of the final. She doesn't know how to use a computer so don't think you will ever have a clue what your grade is on BB or through e-mail. When you talk to her she is clueless. Randomly gives everyone very low grades.

Horrible at explaining what she wants. Very confusing and gives essays out back to back. I never got any of my essays back no matter how many times I asked her. Unclear about what is expected an needed for class. Put forth alot of effort and gets C's in return. Very inconsistent with procedures as well. Difficult but passed with a B. Bad professor.

DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. She is the HARDEST grader. If you consider yourself to be a decent writer, you will fail. Unclear with her assignments, takes forever to return papers and her editing comments consist of "awk" and "??" everywhere with no clarifications. I got a C and I worked my butt off for this class. HORRIBLE.

AVOID HER AT ALL COST! I have gotten one out of six of my essays returned to me, and we've already the final. She has given the class due dates then when you go into class she'll say "It's not due today. I just wanted to make sure you'd write the paper" She sweet but she has awful teaching methods. I didn't learn in this class.

DO NOT TAKE HER!!! She is the worst professor that I have EVER had! She has no idea what she is doing half the time,u come in with your essays on the due date & then she just says, "Oh we will just turn it in next time." She is the hardest grader ever and for no reason. Half the stuff she tells us to do aren't event right. DO NOT TAKE HER!!!

This was the worst class I have ever taken. She acts all nice and innocent the first couple weeks and just turns into a careless, unorganized woman. She doesn't explain things clearly, doesn't explain assignments clearly. You work on your essay for days, bring it on due date and she pushes the date further back with no warning at all.

She's not a bad teacher, but her style of teaching does not correlate with her tough grading. She says that you'll get a C if you do what is asked of you, does not explain essays very thoroughly, and is an extremely hard grader. I got a C+ and still had to work hard. I would not recommend this teacher unless you like working hard to get low grades

She is a really funny person but she fails to explain anything, and when asked for clarification she restates what she has already said and makes it even more confusing. I am leaving her class with an A because it is easy if you are willing to decode what she is trying to say. She doesn't post any HW grades online.

She literally does absolutely nothing in class but lecture and ramble about irrelevant information. Gives no rubrics for essays but grades hard. Doesn't answer emails and she's confusing to talk to. Attendance is taken but its not even worth it to go. Used the textbook like 3 times but pop quizzes come from it.

Rarely graded papers on time or assigned clear prompts. Often pushed back due dates and did not give enough time to complete the final portfolio because she didn't grade our assignments until 3 days before the final was due.

I hate writing to begin with and at the end of the day we all want that A. For the amount of effort that this professor puts into this class, it's not possible. She is very unclear on what she wants and how she wants papers. Does not teach good writing techniques at all. Doesn't put in grades soon, procrastinates on grading papers. Don't take her!

If a student goes to her class everyday and turns in all work she asks, it should be a sin for her to give the student less than a B. For the amount of effort she puts into the class, everyone should receive at least a B. Procrastinates on grading. VERY TOUGH GRADER. It's finals week and she's rarely available. It's not an easy A. Don't take her!

A couple of things -- first of all, English (WRC/ Freshman Comp) is a subjective course inside and out. With this professor it's no exception. Highly unorganized assignment schedule, but class was fine; however, even if you put a tremendous amount of effort in essays, you have a very low change of getting a B to an A. Harsh.

Class discussions are interesting, but the assignments quickly lose their purpose. If you don't write how she thinks, she practically fails you. She glosses over the essays.. I never felt so discouraged before. I honestly can't say that the grading is impartial and structured. P.s even with here improvement comments, as she calls them, I got C's

Avoid her at all costs! She is a very tough grader and doesn't give good feedback. Takes FOREVER to post grades so you never know if you're failing or passing. Attendance is mandatory but i never understood why I had to wake up at 8AM just to listen to her ramble all class period. I found her to be pretty conservative so just a heads up.

just wanted to come back on here and say how grateful i am that i am no longer in this profs. class. To put it simply, find another professor before you think about taking her class. She is horribly rude, likes to think she is "open minded" but then just comes across as ignorant. DO NOT take her class, not worth the stress.

She is constantly repeating herself to her students because she does not know how to explain it the first time. Being in that class is so annoying!

This professot canceled class again and she is always cancelling classes to fail you and she gets excited when she fails her students ! Avoid at all costs and she does not enter grades until the last week of classes and she will be happy when you repeat writing comp I or II . Avoid at all costs and take a different professor!

Martin is incapable of organization, she cancels class, loses papers and does not specify due dates. It took her over 2 months to grade a single essay and did not even do it on her own time. She graded it at her desk right before calling me up to give it back. She is specific in what she grades for. You will fail if your paper is too complex.

Martin does NOT follow the syllabus at all. She stopped following it the second week of classes. She cancels class often and does not grade papers on time. It took her way too long to grade three major papers and prompts aren't clear. For the self reflective essay assignment, she didn't assign it until a week before the end of the semester.

Were halfway into the semester and the only thing I have in the grade book is attendance. She always cancels class, sometimes at the last minute too.

Prof Martin doesn't grade anything on time in fact just a few weeks away from the last day of classes and she had yet to grade anything other than attendance. Attendance is for a grade, but most classes are her talking about her personal life and making awkward comments. She thinks "?" or "Awkward" counts as feedback for assignments.

No clear directions on to what the actual assignment is. Wants a new essay draft printed each time you make even just a word change, and we all know we don't have the money as college students to be printing off 8 or more pages every class. Definitely would not recommend taking her class, honestly taking the online class would be easier for sure.

This class was awful! Professor Martin is not clear when speaking to the class, the whole semester no one knew what was going on. She is an extremely tough grader on essays and takes forever to give grades back. We are currently on our 3rd essay and barely got back our grades from our first essay. Lastly she does cancel class a lot.

Would never EVER take this class again, neither should you. Three classes left with ONE grade entered plus attendance. Talks about personal problems frequently with the excuse for not having papers graded to be "there was too much negativity reading those." Honestly just can't believe how terrible this class has been.

Professor Martin is a very nice lady. Besides that, there is not many other positive ways to describe her as a teacher. She is VERY disorganized and unclear in everything she talks about. We have three classes left and she wants us to do some informative essay, group project, and reflective analytical essay over assignments we have yet to get back.

nice lady, but if you care about your GPA id avoid taking this class with her at all costs! shes very unorganized & there is almost 2 weeks of class left & shes only posted one grade plus attendance. she is also picky at grading so its unfair for us to know what to work on to get a better grade when she doesnt give us anything to compare to.

DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS! Although she is sweet, nothing is graded. We wrote multiple essays and we only received one essay back before finals week. Assignment instructions are always unclear, no matter how many times she explains it. Stay clear if you care about a decent GPA.

Back again after finishing the class to its entirety to say.. that was a waste of my time and money. Professor Martin said she would make a "special exception" for those who turned an essay on time to grade said essay by the day of the final. Come to find out, she has not even started. This essay was important as it was needed for the reflection

She is extremely disorganized and fails to clearly communicate her criteria for writing a paper. It is the day before finals and she has yet to grade/provide feedback for any of my 3 papers, and has lost one of the papers, even though I have provided her a physical copy and electronic copy multiple times. It is astounding that she is a professor.

Verbal instructions were often very unclear to the point where almost no one in the class could understand what exactly she wanted for each assignment. Almost no grades were entered all semester. She barely follows her syllabus. Feedback on the essays was very redundant. Just a very bad professor - avoid at all costs.

If you're reading this I hope it's not too late. This professor had no idea what she wanted in an essay, didn't show up to half the classes and didn't grade papers until the very end. Prob could've gotten a B if I worked a little harder but AVOID AT ALL COSTS

This is by far the worst professor I've ever had. She is clearly disorganized and doesn't know what she's doing. She constantly lost my classmates and my papers. She doesn't give you grades back until the end of the semester, so you have no idea how you're doing in the class. I even had to contact the head of the department to complain about her.

By far the worst professor I've had. She showed up to her own classes unprepared and delayed papers constantly. She lost a lot of her students papers and blamed it on the students. After COVID hit, she didn't give our class a response until mid-april and gave us C's for papers she just assigned to us a few days before. I wouldn't recommend ever.

This professor is absolutely terrible. She was a nice lady but that is about it. I am astonished that she is a real professor. She didn't grade 3 papers until the last week of the semester. She didn't provide any rubric or feedback. She didn't use blackboard at all and she spent the entire class time talking politics.

Assignments were assigned on Sundays at outlandish times like 7 PM and over holidays. Barely graded assignments and were always graded late. Never used Blackboard despite being way more convenient to students than manually emailing her every task. I'm not sure how she is still a professor with this level of incompetence. She's nice but that's it.

She is one of the worst professors I have had so far. She will assign essays and have the due date a few days later and does not provide a clear rubric at all. She will give you a C if you do not include specific things she wants but then doesn't specify what she is looking for in the paper. She is all over the place and unorganized.

She seems disorganized and unprepared, it was always difficult to find what assignments were due when. The only positive is she grades small things very easily, although essays are graded tougher. I would not recommend this professor unless there are not other options.

Yeah do yourself a favor and just sit this one out bc this lady should NOT be a professor. I'm a good writer and a hard worker but in this class, it was nearly impossible to get anything done because she CANNOT communicate her expectations. She wants you to write how SHE would write, not yourself. I love UTSA but whyyyy her

Even though I was not in class, I still turned my assignments in, which she would make due at 8:30 am on a Tuesday and Thursday morning, and as a full-time employee, this was not easy. Your grade is not based of your personal performance but is as if she puts your paper next to one of hers and then grades it based how well you did compared to hers.

She only liked your papers if you put them exactly in her words. She also made her political stance very clear, which I thought was unprofessional and weird

The worst professor I have had the displeasure of meeting in my time at UTSA. Your essays are not graded until the end of the semester, so good luck knowing what you need to improve on or what her criteria for a “good” essay is (which is often vague and personal to her). Useless lectures despite being mandatory, and horrible at answering questions.
