She is a friendly professor. However, you won't do well in this class if you do anything except read the textbook. No point going to the lecture. The slides aren't available until after it ends, so you can't follow along-instead you're left scrambling trying to take notes... most of what's shown in the lecture isn't even going to be tested ever.
Very nice professor. Graded on syllabus quiz (EASY), research participation (EASY), learning to learn Project series (EASY), practice quizzes with 5 retakes, 4 exams (exam every 2 chapters). Exams were very fair with simple questions. No midterms or final. Read the textbook and take notes, you will succeed if you study. enjoyed her a lot
She is an alright professor, but her style of teaching makes me mad. Why do I show up to lectures if we miss half the lesson and are still expected to read the textbook with her lecture and the literal half that she leaves out? I understand that PSYC 100 is quite heavy but dude come on half the unit is missing.
She is very nice and is willing to help you if you have questions. You will need to read the textbook regardless if you attend the lectures (which I'd recommend). Some questions on the exam are from things she said in the lecture and can't be found in the power point slides or textbook.
You will have to read the whole textbook to teach yourself the material because she won't cover a lot of it in lecture.
Dr. Croft is a very positive, fun, and engaging professor. Although the material is heavy and the textbook includes a lot of reading, she manages to make it interesting and fun through her lectures! You will have to read the entire chapter taught in lecture in the textbook as she covers only the main things. The exams were all online and mostly MC!
Lectures are boring, she doesn't post the slides before only after so you can't follow along. The class itself is easy, not bad. 4 exams and 2 chapters for each exam. There are 3 assignments that are online and super easy to do, they take about 2 hours each at most. There are practice quizzes on each chapter, where you have many tries (online).
She is very nice as a person. Tests are online and open book but very difficult with lots of tricky questions, which is made much worse by the time crunch. It's 1 minute/point. Hard to get a B. Get ready to read and know the whole chapter for every test if you plan on passing. Lots of exam questions are only covered in lecture.
She's very captivating at times and entertains the class with activities at times but overall, covers less than a third of what comes on each exam. Most of the reading and learning will be on your part through the textbook chapters which are loooong. Apart from that she is very caring and the way to get fulfill credits is very easy.
Ms.Croft is one of the best professors at Sfu. She is incredibly caring. There is no final or midterm. You should attend the lectures because the written part of the tests is based off what is said in lecture. My only issue is that I got a 96 in the class and still only got an A and not an A+. The grading scale is very harsh. Still the best prof!
This was her first year at SFU, and she did an amazing job teaching this course. The exams were filled with relevant information related to the textbook and things we did or learned about in lecture. Overall, this course was not too hard for a 100, but challenging enough that I needed to learn to study properly. Alyssa is smart and inspirational!
An absolute angel! I highly recommend. Lectures were quite long/content-heavy; I found myself zoning out often. Very fair exam questions; majority of questions were textbook-based, although there were questions that were only touched on in lecture. Pay attention to the videos shown in class. She offers a bonus exam to replace your lowest exam mark!
Way better than Iris. She's caring, ensures her students are comfortable, understands that we have our own lives and our own struggles. She teaches in a way that makes info interesting, her exams are coherent, (which Gordon can't relate to). Gives breaks often, and is just a lovely person. The definition of a great person, prof and deserves a raise
She was the best prof that I had this term. The grading was based on points that you were getting along the way from l2l project, practice quizzes (u have 5 chances for each) and 3 open book exams 1 bonus which replaced your lowest mark. No final exam which I found really nice. Her tests are not only based on textbooks but also lecture content.
Great prof, tests are based 90% on the textbook. However, I would still recommend you to go to lectures because she asks questions based on the class demos or videos for the short answer portion
Really interesting, interactive lectures despite large class size, approachable outside class and after lectures.
Overall a pretty good prof. The L2L projects (3 parts, worth about 25% of the grade) were SUPER easy and took at most 2 hours per part. Her lectures are quite long and it's easy to zone out quick. All short answer exam questions were on lecture material such as in class videos. No final. Make sure to really read the textbook.
Dr. Croft is a really fun and entertaining professor. She manages to make a three hour long lecture of pure notes entertaining and engaging. Her grading criteria is clear and it's easy to get a B or higher as long as you are willing to put in work and read as well. I'd recommend taking her class whenever you can! P.S She's really easy to talk to
Her delivery of the course was a bit different due to the TSSU strike, however, she was very fair and caring towards her students. There are tests every 2 chapters that are based on lecture and textbook material so theres no midterm or final. Her lectures are very engaging and she delivers her content well.
I had her during the TSSU strike and her accommodations were fair and effective, especially considering how this course is heavily reliant on TA feedback. The lectures are not necessary to attend but help with the writing assignments that are due every week. Make to sure the required readings before class as it helps you understand the lecture!
I had this as a first sem class and she was easy to understand. I liked how she had a exam every 2 units so we didn't need to know more than that. overall pretty good prof.
Dr. Croft is an absolute pleasure to learn from, and her classes are very well-organized. You are graded by four major exams (plus other tidbits) which are not cumulative. Attendance is not mandatory, but it is recommended to go to class, since the exams are based on the lectures. Grading scale was very tough though. 90 - 100% is, A-range.
PSYC 100 was easy and she gives you many opportunities to increase your grade. The exams are online and open book, for the most part the questions are very fair. Overall the course is easy and enjoyable but you do have to read a chapter a week which can be very heavy amount of reading sometimes.
She was a very nice prof and she tried to do group exercises during lecture to help engage the class. There is 4 exams which are open book. However, questions are asked from lectures and her slides aren't that detailed.
Best prof ever in my first year. She makes many tests but those are open books.
Open book quizzes and tests?! HECK YEAH BOIH. Study for the quizzes and tests beforehand even if you're skimming through the textbook and you'll get at least a B-. It's hard to fail this course unless you MAJORLY slack off in the beginning.
She was a nice prof - had online quizzes for each chapter that you could attempt 5 times, then an online exam for every two chapters. The semester project was easy and not too time consuming. The lectures were interesting and engaging with videos and discussions. Just make sure you keep on top of dates and the textbook readings and you will be fine
i just took PSYCH 102 with her, why do i have a grade of a C- WHEN I HAVE A 70% ???????????????????????? WHAT IS THIS GRADING??????? sfu and their grading scale and going to post-secondary is impossible
The sweetest prof, super clear about what she is looking for and easy to talk to. If you study and reach out for help when you need it, you'll do great. Messed up on the first exam 'cause I didn't read the textbook otherwise would've had an A.
don't take her class if you have the option. Alyssa is approachable, and might answer any questions you have but her lecture slides suck - really dense and it's a long class so hard to keep up. heavy class time, heavy textbook (literally), and heavy exams. everything is online but obviously you HAVE to go to lecture to understand the exam questions
The entire course is based around how good is your TA and every TA was given slightly different information on due dates and overall the course was a complete mess. Also is completely unfair that dependent on your lab schedule you may be given an extra week to work on assignments then everyone else. Don't take the course if you can.
Professor Croft was my FAVOURITE prof. in my academic career so far. She was so passionate about what she taught and made her lectures so entertaining that she inspired me to switch my major as a 3rd year student. Such a lovely person but be ready to write a lot, refer to textbook readings and dig deeper for a good grade. Highhlllyyy recommend.
Lectures are horrible and boring, teaching style is quite ridiculous, it is a 300-level course but she teaches and treats students like it is a first year class, rude to students and makes rude remarks infront of 200 students if you ask a question in the syllabus of in the assignment instructions. Should not be at SFU
Got only an extra day of studying for spending 5 days in the hospital and 5 days outside recovering and in this period I could not review or study. Oh boy an extra day of studying! compared to everyone else that had 10 more days than me it is pretty unfair but regardless the test wasn't too bad.
PSYC102 Review - 30 question midterm and multiple choice, but you have to study an entire chapter of a textbook that is dense. get ready to be overprepared for absolutely no reason, and not know what to expect on an exam. sucks that a 100 course is so disorganized, and sort of designed to fail you.
She gave me a 0 on my exam for plagiarism, she gives out 5 different exams so you can't even copy off the person next to you, when i asked what i supposedly plagiarized, it was 3 sentences of information i wrote down to help me solve the question. she FAILED me a 0/70 just because i wrote down information to help me solve a problem.
don't be fooled that she's a nice lady her grading system really isn't nice. skip the lectures and use that time to study on your own instead - she does NOT cover even half of the content on the exams in her lectures. everything you need to know is in the textbook. waste of my time while wasting my mental health.
I liked her until she wouldn't excuse my absence at tutorial so I could say goodbye to my dying grandmother. "tutorials are for the benefit of participation and learning for all of the students"...every other prof waived my participation mark for what i missed. She refused :)
Dr. Croft was super sweet. The grading scale was initially terrifying, anything under 60% is a fail and under 70% is a D- for a 100 level course. The lectures were interesting and she added lots of videos, buzzed quizzes and things to keep the lectures engaging. The exams are really easy if you study and the last midterm had a cheat sheet.
Grading system is ridiculous for an intro course. Although the lectures are 3 hours they don't provide any information that will help you get a good mark in this class, you're better off just studying off the textbook which is content heavy on its own. Oh and if you're looking for help, good luck booking officer hours with the TA or the Prof
Skip lecture. Read the textbook. She asks questions off video in the lecture but that's it. Exams are easy if you read the textbook and they consist of mc, t/f and written. There are open-book quizzes, a syllabus quiz and RPR credits that are worth 20% in total and those are easy grade boosters so do well on those. The grading scale is ridiculous.
HORRIBLE. Her lecture are so fast, she believes that students are robots. Exams are too specific and the sfu grading scale? I did all this effort to get an average GRADE unless you are perfect and get above 90 you get an A Horrible grading scale for a 100 LEVEL COURSE. She only bombs you with information for 3 hours and gives a 10 minute break.
decent prof but no point in going to lectures, just read the textbook. tests are fully based off the textbook which is very content heavy and requires so much memorizing, but not too bad overall. definitely don't cram
Her lectures are VERY fast so prepare to take a lot of notes. This is also a very heavy textbook reading class and her test relies completely on the reading. Each chapter is like 80-90 pages long and you have to memorize all that information. Her tests are also ridiculously hard since they are hard markers, and also anything under a 60% is a fail.
Lectures are boring and pointless, if you ask a question she responds very bothered that anyone would have a question. The TAs do everything, grading is subjective based on your TA. 4 papers that you basically do back to back with like a week to write and input feedback from the last one, very repetitive.
Anyone complaining about this course or Dr Croft obviously never heard the nightmares of years previous. She has changed this course for the better. No longer do psych students need to be afraid to take this course. Now you will actually be able to learn how to and get feedback on being a better writer. Overall, it was a great W course.
Genuinely avoid this professor at all costs as all her lectures are almost never on her exams and they're all textbook based. Her TAs aren't any better as they mark so heavily it's impossible to actually pass this course. Also the last chapter on each exam is almost never present on them.
If you care about your gpa dont take this class with this prof. If you need this class for your degree take it with someone else. She makes it sound like shes doing you a favour with her shitty grading system but its terrible. She makes it that you have to score a 70% in the class to get a C-. if you get 69% you get a D. She should be fired asap.
AVOID AVOID AVOID AT ALL COSTS!! GRADING SCALE IS RIDICULOUS! LECTURES ARE 3 HOURS LONG WITH ONLY A 10 MINUTE BREAK IN BETWEEN. EXAMS ARE DIFFICULT!!! I STRUGGLE WITH EXAMS. DOING THE EXAMS IN THIS COURSE MADE ME SUPER NERVOUS AND ANXIOUS. HEAVY TEXTBOOK...ONLY GOOD THINGS ARE OPEN BOOK QUIZZES, TERM PROJECT AND RPS CREDITS. TA'S ARE HARD MARKERS!
It's not Alyssa I had a problem with, it was more the course itself. She reduced the amount of fact check assignments but I still HATED doing them cuz they were due every single week. Her lectures were boring and pointless tbh, but you have to attend for book club which was annoying. Loved my TA though-- she wasn't too harsh on marking ♡
AVOID THIS CLASS AT ALL COSTS. For an introductory level class she has such unrealistic standards? Her grading scale baffles me and I am not sure why it is even implemented once again for an INTRO class. Her tests are extremely hard, take my ADVICE and never ever attend her lectures but rather use the class time to go through the textbook. 1/10
I would agree that this prof has changed the course for the better as PSYC300W was a bit intimidating to go into, however, the course structure itself really wasn't that difficult. I will say that the marking system seems flawed. The TA I had is known to be a hard marker and it was really unfair and discouraging to keep getting poor marks.
RIDICULOUS grading scheme. never been in a class that scales u DOWN instead of up. low 90 is an A-? 89 is a B+? class was supposed to be my gpa booster but might just be my lowest grade this semester. meant to be an easy class, half the content is common sense, but for whatever reason, croft makes it hell by implementing her own grading scheme.
RIDICULOUS and HORRENDOUS grading scheme. Low 90 is an A-? 89 is a B+? Croft makes this course hell by implementing her own grading scheme.
Lectures aren't to boring but can be exhausting as they are 3 hours long. The course material wasn't difficult and her exams weren't that hard either. Grading system is definitely flawed tho
I'm glad Dr.Croft changed the course for the better, not as difficult as I thought but def time consuming. Lectures didn't feel necessary just for your book club. Due dates were too close to each other and the grading scale is kinda tough. Grades are dependent on TA too. Your writing and critical thinking will def improve cause of this class
Alyssa Croft is a great professor! All the negative comments about her don't reflect her skills as a great teacher. Her changing and readjusting the course has made a significant difference. Class is now based on 4 fact check assignments, book report, PowerPoint slide and attendance. Highly recommend this class and it's a lot easier now.
It was alright, I was expecting it to be worse hearing from previous students. I hope the next few sems the due dates for the fact checks and book report draft are more spread apart. In all honesty skip the lectures I feel didnt help or change how I would write. The tutorials are the most important. Pretty tough grading scale.
Though she only reads off of slides, they contain useful supplementary material, and ctrl c+ctrl v from the textbook. T.A's graded generously and most marks came from 3 midterms + 1 small paper (easy). She is very easy to talk to, and seems to care about all of her students. *Grading scheme is tough (90% = A-), but reasonable for the material.*
I liked her as a person but the grading for the course is messed up. Everyone in a 250ppl class got very high grade %, so your final grade depends purely on luck with an assigned TA - if they graded you even a couple points more generously than the other one, you can get A- over B. It's insane. The class was so easy and it's my lowest grade ever.
Dr. Croft is a lovely person and manages to make 3 hour lectures bearable. The poor reviews are coming from people who were expecting this class to be an easy A. Her grading scale is odd, but the exams/material were not difficult; if you work hard you will do well. Make sure you read the textbook, because not all material is covered in class.
Pretty hard class because of the grading scale. But exams were not too difficult. You do have to study a lot to get a 'B' or higher grade. Would prefer if this was an online class due to lots of information to remember in a short amount of time for the exams.
To anyone who's saying the complaints regarding her grading scale are for people who did not put in the work, that is a very unfair assumption. Her grading scale is in an N.99 cutoff and does not round up, which means the 0.01 percent can make a difference in your letter grade, which I find extremely ridiculous. If you can, choose another prof.
I got an 82% in her class WHICH FOR SOME REASON = A B-????????? GPA KILLLERRRR avoid her class at ALL COSTS shes a nice person dont get me wrong, but and awful grader and her tests were (especially the first one) were overly difficult.
I had 80% in the class and got a B-. The grading scheme is unfair. Most of my courses use a different scheme. Overall I found the course to be interesting and Alyssa is a good teacher. I could've got a higher grade with a different professor though. Read the textbook, highlight, as most of the content is from there. Go to class for hints on exams.
Generally a good professor. Very kind and easy to talk to. The assignment that was worth 10% of your grade was easy. It really is not that difficult of a class, and she is lovely to talk to. Just focus on the readings, and use the lectures as either a textbook summary or to figure out what she is focusing on.
Definitely make sure to read the textbook. The chapters were pretty long but as long as you do your reading every week you will be okay. Her exams were good, no midterms or finals, just exams after 4-5 units, multiple choice.
Overall nice lady and cares about her students! However her grading is horrible. A C is a 70% and if you want to get an A it's a 90% and higher. Unfair grading and her quizzes are harder than the exam. If you care about your gpa take a different psych prof if you want fair grading!
Super nice lady. I find long lectures hard, but her 3 hour class was bearable. You need to read the textbook to supplement the lectures, or vice versa, as the exams cover both. She does an exam after every few chapters (4 total, optional online final). Grading is hard but the same scale as the PSYC100 I took with someone else so I was used to it.
Super sweet and caring to students. Exams were very straight forward, but you will be tested on videos and things she shows in class so keep that in mind when studying. I think she did a great job at helping students understand and enjoy the content. Not hard and sometimes allows cheat sheet for exams.
Alyssa Croft is an excellent professor for psychology. Her jokes of the day and lecture slides provide an exciting learning experience. Most of the course relies on textbook anyways, prof makes little difference
Great professor. Super knowledgeable, but also really lovely and clearly cares about the success of her students. There is a good amount of reading, but her lectures generally complemented them well, and her exams were always reasonable.
Alyssa's amazing, she wants us to succeed!! She's teaching a VERY demanding Psyc course, and she's doing phenomenal, especially considering who used to teach it. She's had to take a few semesters to figure out what syllabus structuring works well for the course but it seems like she's got it down now, from my experience. Kind, caring, and reliable.
Dr. Croft was impossible to get ahold of &had other people do her lectures. Your entire experience is up to the TAs, who are not instructed or prepared equally. My TA was awful, and Dr. Croft was cruel in her communications with students. If you have another option, take it. She is also unaccommodating to students with disabilities.
Overall Alyssa is a nice person but as a prof she isn't my favourite. Doesn't have enough info on her slides either
Why do we get tested on every little irrelevant thing within the textbook? It's super frustrating when a cheat sheet can't even help because you'd have to write verbatim from the textbook. She's nice though
Clearly a nice lady just not an engaging lecturer.
Dr. Croft has done a really good job at making PSYC300W bearable. Grade is based on lecture/tutorial participation, 3 smaller papers, and one final paper. Grades are quite subjective depending on your TA, which was a little frustrating but Dr. Croft is a good prof.
She's changed psyc 300 a ton! This was the best version of the course all because she's been making changes over the last few semesters. She's also super approachable and really seems to care
Harsh grader, even the smallest detail will be tested. We had a cheat sheet for every exam which was nice though but even if you do well like a low 80 it'll still be a B, whereas in other courses it would be an A-. Lectures were fine but do the readings ahead of time.
nice person but not a good prof her lectures were not the best and her quizzes were so hard for no reason. All the exams we got a cheat sheet
Alyssa is so kind and is a great prof! The course is a lot of work but her lectures and the tutorials can set you up for success. I really like her reiteration of the course because her tips have improved my writing and understanding of research a lot. I also appreciate how accessible she was. She encourages questions and is very supportive.
Really nice person, not a great prof. Exams were frequent and nitpicky. Often came across as a bit patronizing-- we aren't children. Very easy course but far from engaging. I went to three lectures total, studied a day before each exam, and pulled an A. Be aware that incredibly specific details may be tested on, so read the darn textbook.
Seems like a decent person but her lectures aren't great. She forces these participation marks to get people to show up, but the lecture is wasteful, consisting of her reading quotes and playing videos. When she does teach, she just kind of says stuff without examples and her answer to most questions is "it can be done". Your TA is your everything.
Dr. Croft was great as an intro-psyc teacher. She made the lectures super engaging and used supplemental materials like videos to break up the lectures (because they where 3hrs long). Super kind and seemed to really care about students. Tests were fair, as long as you pay attention in class you will do great. Overall great teacher!
Dr. Croft is super sweet & engaging in lectures. she expends on content from the textbook in different ways to help everyone understand & encourages questions. lectures & essay made concepts practical & relatable. she offers resources like a bonus exam & suggested due dates & shows she genuinely wants us to succeed. study and you'll be fine
Dr Croft is a lovely person and cares a lot about her work and her students. She redid the entire course and it is definitely a lot better. The lectures aren't always the most helpful and your TA matters a lot. However, she makes sure you get a lot of feedback and lots of opportunity to improve. The course will improve your writing and is valuable.
k im not sure why there are so many low ratings because Dr. Croft is genuinely such a great professor!!! Psyc 102 was an awesome experience and I have zero complaints. She made things easy at a systemic level, allowing 5 tries for the practice quizzes, cheat sheets for every midterm, and even a bonus exam. it doesn't get any better than that :0
10/10 would a thousand times recommend. such a sweet professor!!!
besides this class being a huge GPA booster (bless), it rlly drew me into psyc like im actually considering a psyc minor now because Dr. Croft was just so enthusiastic and passionate about the course! she rlly loves teaching and her energy is infectious. such a gem of a professor
A lot of ppl complain about the grading scale, but they're just not willing to put in the effort to read the textbook. Psyc has standard grading regulations because concepts are so intuitive, students rarely fail. The class average was 82%, and Dr. Croft made an A+ a 93 and up! She rlly tried her best to make the course accessible for everyone :))
Dr. Croft is one of the best profs I've had. Especially after taking some other heavy writing courses, it's making me appreciate the foundation 300 gave me. My friends and I have even taken to reviewing each other's writing with “what would Alyssa say about this?” Take a class with her!
One of the best profs I have ever had. She was very good at teaching and explaining concepts, while keeping the lectures interesting and engaging. We had a cheat sheet for every test, which was extremely helpful. There were some specific questions on exams, but if u do the reading and go to lectures, you shouldn't have much trouble with the class.
Her feedback is senseless and changes every time. It's easy to get decent grade (B) but its nearly impossible to get a good grade (A- or above) because of the inane scale and lack of feedback.
The exams are heavy same as the quizzes. Lots of stuff on the exam arent based on her notes so make sure to read the textbook. In my opinion, this course is way too heavy for an intro class. She lists out the things that were going to be tested and NONE of them ended up being on the exam.
I've heard mixed things about her but I loved her. Yes, there is a lot of content to study for for her exams, but to me that was expected and if you read the textbook and spend a bit of time studying, you'll do fine (even with her grading scale). I wouldn't take this class for an easy breadth course but if you like this subject, she's awesome!
Her notes for the lectures are structured properly and her tests arent based on the notes, most of her tests are scenario based and you have to read the textbook and comprehend the context in the textbook.
I genuinely think she's the kindest soul ever, her jokes of the day are so cute! The exams are a bit tough but she gives u the chance to bring a cheat sheet, her lectures are broken up with videos and she explains the slides well and doesn't just read off. I love love love Dr. Croft.
Unclear grading criteria sometimes, but she's very approachable and kind.
Liked her. Approachable. However I found the practice quizzes for the exams were very heavily based on the textbook. Also, you could maybe just skip lecture and just read the textbook.
For Psyc 102, Dr. Croft gave many opportunities to improve your grade. When she says "the exams require you to understand concepts in depth" she really means "go into depth". READ THE TEXTBOOK, it helped a lot on the exam and on the paper that had to be written. Overall she's a little tough but fair.
quiz schedule was ridiculous so crammed together, so much unnecessary writing assignments. she had very high expectations but wouldnt make them clear, boring lectures didnt learn anything new in the course. have been told this is the updated course structure its still a nightmare. had requirements for the final paper that werent on the instructions
Honestly, the people going off about how shes bad simply have to say that they DIDN't read the textbook and are mad the material was on the exam. Duh. i LOVE alyssa she is so sweet and extremely knowledgeable
Croft is a great prof - engaging lectures and a lovely person. Ignore the negative reviews. Exams include textbook content, but she allows a double-sided cheat sheet and an open-book makeup at the end of term. Tip: highlight key concepts from the textbook/videos and you'll be fine. She's fair, but her grading scale is hard (B: 80-89, A: 90-100).
They changed a lot about this course content for my class onwards to make it more accessibel and I reallly liked it. the material was super engaging and she really did want you to partsicpate. there was no textbook, she gave out assigned readings. We mostly would talk with our TAs and mine was literally the best ever I hope he's TAing again.
She's caring but unaccommodating (to CAL students & more generally). Teaching style is ok but lacking Universal Learning Design, so its helpfulness and applicability towards assignments is limited. Expectations usually unclear (not enough specificity, examples of pitfalls, chances for feedback), so rely on your TA a ton, ask lots of Q's !
This is my second class with Croft. She's very sweet, but the classes feel dry and I always find myself disengaging from the content. Exams are very textbook-heavy and test tiny, easily missed details; make sure you know all the studies mentioned in the textbook and their findings. The group video project was fun though.
Dr. Croft is a great professor! Her grading scale is difficult but there are many components that can boost your grade (quizzes and term project) so it is fair. The practice quizzes are more difficult than the exams in my opinion, so if you can ace those you'll be fine. The class is long, but there were two 10 minute breaks so it was manageable.
Although Alyssa Croft was a great professor who laid out the course clearly from the beginning, if you finish with a .99, she will NOT round up which is ridiculous. That's right, apparently the difference between 0.01% is so drastic to her that it will cost you grade points.
nice professor, opportunities for extra credit. you must read the textbook for this class the lecture doesnt cover everything, the way the exam questions are worded is tricky so read over carefully. The only complaint is the grading scale for this class, my 87.9 is an B+, with the A- range being 88-89 (no rounding). little margin for error :(
Tests were absolutely terrible and not even topics mentioned in her lecture, barely any.
Dr. Croft is very passionate about her teachings. As long as you go into this course knowing it is high-effort, you will get through fine. The course teachings are also highly relevant to post-secondary studies and will help you throughout the rest of education. Readings and lectures are redundant - I recommend only engaging in one to save time.
the feedback and the criteria for the essay was bare minimum, but the exams were pretty easy and she allowed cheat sheets front and back for each of the exams, plus an open book exam online. she dropped the lowest test mark. her lectures had great examples for concrete understanding. would 100% reccomend
Very nice professor that engages people, speaks passionately about topics, and gives weekly reminders so you don't get behind! She allows cheat sheets for exams, which is super useful. Also, always remember to take notes of the videos + practice scenarios in lectures (they're usually in the exams).
