LOVE HER! Great class,relates subject to life situations, not boring there are many fun class activities. Helped me socialize more with other people in the course. Easy assignments doesnt check them bc your grades usually reflect if you did it or not. Very helpful, extended exam/final if needed for people. Def would take another course with her!

This class is horrendous. Everything has to be absolutely perfect in order to recieve a decent grade, regardless of the effort put in. She chooses favorites, is sarcastic and sometimes just plain cruel. I do not recommend this class to anyone who isnt a charming extrovert.

For my 1st class in 20 yrs, I picked a winner. Prof Kauffman actually expects you to do your homework & participate in class, unheard of. Shame on her for attempting to make us into responsible adults. She loves what she teaches and cares about all her students. The class was interesting & very enjoyable. I learned to paricipate and get involved.

easy class just do your powerpoint things that she gives you - it comes directly from the text book it made zero sense to me because she explained nothing- just look for it word for word in the book and fill it in because if you don't ..she flips out .. and takes it really personally ..

If you do the power point homeworks she gives you, you will do great. She gives you plenty of time to work on your speeches and she will help you every step of the way.

She's a decent professor because she knows the material like the back of her hand. She does have a tendency to be a little short with certain students. I did a pretty good job with the speeches, tests, etc.....at least I thought....turns out my grade was less than I expected... :-(

Awesome Professor, couldn't have asked for better. She'll help you with the material if you ask her for help and she tries to make class as fun as possible. I don't understand why she's garnering so many negative comments on here.

She's cool. The class isn't tough unless you make it that way. Put time and effort into your speeches and you'll do great. Oh and she has a nice butt.

She picks favorites but if you're not a favorite it's probably because you're obnoxious. Her voice is loud and clear. Plenty of bad clip art that she's proud of. It's pretty much impossible to score over a 90. Her exams are kinda hard since it's several chapters in one so it's a lot of material to memorize. She'll have you stay the 3 hour duration.

She's pretty awesome. She uses sarcasm in a very relatable, funny way. The homework is EXTREMELY EASY and she gives you outlines, all you have to do is copy them for your speech. Just follow the guidelines and participate in class and you'll do very very well.

She is really a great professor, she is very personable and helped when I asked her for it. She is definitely one of the most eccentric professors I had. If you put in the proper amount of work you will do fine. I am taking another class of hers this semester and hopefully I have the same experience I did with the other class she taught.

I was dreading taking COM 101 but if you are nervous about public speaking take Professor Kauffman, you only have 2 speeches to do in class and they are on topics you personally enjoy so it makes it a lot easier! She gives you so many opportunities for extra credit, revisions, etc. She is really funny and down to earth and extremely helpful!!

She's really nice but is all over the place. She never hands back your tests or papers and you'll never know your standings in her class. She blames the multiple "committees" shes in but she should focus more on her students and classwork.

I've taken her in two classes and she is probably one of my favorite professors here, if you do the assigned work which isn't really hard at all you will do fine. She loves her PowerPoints, very creative ways for assignments.

Great teacher! Just like any other professor, she makes you work for your grade, but the assignments are not hard at all. She is extremely helpful and understanding. Gives you plenty of opportunities to improve your grade by redoing assignments.

Professor Kauffman is an excellent teacher, she is very good at what teaching communication is clearly passionate for her job. I would recommend her however beware, she has the "im better than everyone" attitude, she thinks her thoughts are right and won't really look at things from a different prospective. This is how it's been in my class.

I suggest doing the homework, its not much just some reading i the textbook and filling in printouts from powerpoint slides. She does not check it but she can tell who does hw. she's super nice as long as you show her respect. shoot her an email, visit her office hours.

i actually liked her so much i also took com 105 with her. she's the same as any professor, if you do your work, show up and show that you actually care you should get an A. i got an A in both 102 and 105.

Coming into this class i was kinda scared to talk in front of classes. she made it very easy and told us what to work on after every speech. she wants to help her students as mush as she can. and if you have a problem dont be afraid to ask her.

Take her! She can be a tough grader, but if youre willing to learn, you will appreciate her comments and grades throughout the semester. She is all about participation so do the homework. :)

Professor Kauffman is a wonderful teacher who is always enthusiastic. She is funny and has wonderful powerpoints. Through out the class she prepares music for the class to sing along to for extra participation points to help you memorize info for the test. Be prepared to sing because she encourages everyone & there is a study game (ex: jeopardy)

I had the opportunity to take Prof. Kauffman for two semesters. Both of her classes made me grow as a person. She makes learning fun for her students with the group activities she puts together like Fantasy Tag. However, I found her lectures to be a little confusing for me to understand, but she is always available to ask her questions. Thank You.

So helpful outside of class. People tend to speak bad things about her and the class but if you just show up and do whatever she says youll pass. Easy test and projects.

Coming into com101 I was nervous because it was a public speaking class, but by the first class I already liked this professor. She makes such easy conversation and makes the class very comfortable by having conversations instead of always lecturing. She help you reach a comfort zone if you are afraid of public speaking. take her class

If you do your wok and show up to class you shouldn't have any issues with her at all. She is very into participation so be ready for her to randomly call on you but she always give you the option to pass to someone else. She is very particular about how your paper is formatted and the length of how it is suppose to be.

Very fun professor. Pay close attention and take lots of notes if u want to pass. Making flash cards will really help on those test.

Prof K is very easy going. She always tries to help her students but is clear on what she expects from them. There are 2 extemporaneous speeches and a total of 4 exams (1 being optional). Very nice and would totally recommend.

She's one of the most kind professors I remember having, I believe with my class she decide to create a Facebook group so we could all connect to her during the whole semester. She helped me so much with public speaking and just in general talking with people. Hopefully she's doing well!

The attendance is not mandatory but if you don't show up you don't get participation points nor will you understand the topics on your own. she explains very well and is very patient and wants you to succeed. HIGHLY recommend Prof K.

I learned a lot. At first I was afraid because a review said she was picky but she just wants you to know how to do the work the right way for college. Like she doesn't blow off your mistakes but she shows you how to fix them. You have to do work but it's college so yeah, there's work. she totally cares about what she teaches.

Shes very clear at the beginning of the semester what her grading criteria is and she offers extra credit. I had her when the pandemic started and she was the only professor who actually cared how her students were doing during lockdown. Her grading can be a little touch but shes the nicest professor Ive ever had and I learned a lot.

Professor Kauffman is such a great professor and is easy to access outside of class. Although she can be a little bit of a tough grader when it comes to discussion board and other papers, she always makes her lectures fun. She is helpful also because she encourages participation and always encourages students to ask questions if they need to.

Took her class last summer and am currently in another one of her classes. Very encouraging professor and takes the time to get to know and interact with her students despite the fact that the course is online. The work is not difficult, and she assigns moderate amounts so as not to be overwhelming. Definitely recommend her as a professor.

I could not recommend this professor more! Out of all the professors I've experienced these last two years, she is my favorite. She is super caring and loves when you care about your work. Work comes pretty easy as long as you feel like giving effort. Very understanding as well about my chronic illnesses and motivated me a lot. Take her class fs.

Such an amazing and nice teacher!! Made my first semester so much better. Tests are very straightforward. Speeches aren't hard. Little to no homework. She really cares about her students and is very patient. You should definitely take her class.

The class is easy, hard to get below an A. No exams and youre graded on speeches/outlines. Shes very understanding and helpful. The only thing is her attitude/speaking with some students was sometimes rude but aside from that she taught and led the class well.

OMG. How does this site calculate their numbers. Look at all the high reviews and it's a 3.7? I don't get the comments at all. Like it's not rude to ask students to follow directions. I learned a lot. It wasn't easy but this prof def cars and knows what she talking about. I felt like it was a real college class and you earn your grade.

all of the information you need to learn is in the online textbook but beware of her tests which may contain some pretty irrelevant fun facts you might have skipped over pulled straight out from there. she's also a tough grader when it comes to presentations but besides that it shouldn't be difficult to pass her class with a high score

I am learning a lot in this class and you will if you take it serious. I feel like she is teaching me stuff I can use later on, like the flash cards. The book is free and she really cares but she doesn't take BS. As long as you do your work and are ready for speech day, you are good.

If you follow the syllabus, practice a few times in a week, and communicate with the teacher, you won't find an issue passing this class. She is a little rude to unprepared students. Just do the work.
