this professor is not hard at all , yes the lectures are boring but she is very clear in what shes saying . she tries her hardest to be as clear as possible . hse givesALOTTTT of notes so make sure u take everything down . she gives SOOO MUCHH EXTRA CREDIT . even the "extra credit quiz" had extra credit. shes so sweet . i loved her

Paladino is an efficient professor who cares about her students and gives extra credit for those who are not doing so well. Yes her class requires an extensive amount of reading, but what class doesn?t. Class lectures are well organized and posted up on blackboard for studendts to review for quizes, midterms, and final.

Class is pretty dead. You will never see her stop smiling that's like the best part about that class. It is a easy class but make sure you bring 2-3 red bulls and know some of the task before hand. Gives take home quizzes, everything gets pushed back a few days so no pressure.

She's great. A lot of work, but everything does get pushed back for extra time. Very clear of what she expects from the work and attendance is important. Textbook use is very high, plus with extra reading material posted on Blackboard. Give's out take home quizzes which aren't exactly easy but it gives you a great chance of improving you're grade.

If You're In Her Class, You Better Be Prepared To WORK! Her Tests & Quizzes Are Difficult But She Teaches The Material Clearly; Read The Books & Go To Class You Have Nothing To Worry About. Shes Very Helpful & Understanding & She Does Her Best To Make Sure Her Students Do Well. Despite The Difficulty, She's Amazing & I'd Gladly Take Her Again=)

Tough but more than fair. She tells you what you need to know and if you are pay attention you're golden. Always pushes due dates back and understands we are busy. Always smiling and boy is she hot. She will keep you awake and your eyes on her and you will pay attention no problem. Def would take again.

definitely makes you work for your grade. pay attention, read, do your assignments, and you'll get a good grade. don't procrastinate on the paper because it's worth a lot of your grade.

ton of extra credit. comes off as tough in the beginning, but she's pretty reasonable. i do the readings and it seems to pay off. i think i wouldn't do as well if i don't. many examples provided to help students. explains concepts until you get it.

thought i bombed the test. actually did pretty well. not a bad class. we go over really interesting issues that i can relate to.

down to earth. there for you to learn. definitely a tough grader though. i have to do the extra credit to pull up my grade.

she definitely pushes you to the limit. not an easy class. but you learn something so it's worth it. assigns really good documentaries to watch.

Great class to take. I learned a lot and decided to keep my major. Prof Paladino is laid back but she also expects you to be prepared to class and do your work. She's really nice and approachable. There are some quizzes, but they're multiple choice. The midterm and final are straight forward.

She's really helpful. I met with her several times and that reassured me about my grades. I really enjoyed her Social Problems class. We went over so many important issues. The readings are long so give yourself time to do the response papers.

GOOD CLASS. really approachable and there when you need to talk! we watched american history x and some other great documentaries about mass incarceration. loved her social problems class!

Prof. Paladino definitely expects you to work hard. Guess that's a good thing. I'm doing pretty well in the class but a chunk of it is based on the proposal which I'm really nervous about. So basically I can't tell right now how I'm doing right now. BUT, does seem to go out of her way to help you understand things. Overall a good class. She's nice.

It's really a crazy time to be in a Social Problems class. We go over a lot. The movies she has us watch are eye opening. I like the class, just wish there was less reading. The exams are multiple choice and the only writing you do is with the response papers. It's fair.

Gives 2 quizzes before and after the midterm. All take home. No final exam. Class seems easy at first bc of the quiz and midterm questions aren't hard BUT you'll be pulling your hair at the end bc of the study proposal. Total opposite! Its hard bc everything from the sem is applied. BUT this prof spent a lot of time helping me understand.

Loved this class! NOT boring which I'd thought it'd be. She made it interesting by giving a ton of examples. She's also VERY personable. Helped with my proposal until the very end!

This prof is one of the most compassionate profs I've known. No stats experience required to do well. Show up on time and don't miss class b/c she goes over a lot each class. I loved that she talked about research on controversial topics and that she's REALLY accessible outside the class (really good if you ever need help). I'd def take again.

What I remember most is it was a really interactive class and that she always linked the lectures to real life scenarios. She doesn't just read off slides which means she's looking right at you the whole time. Procan tell if you're confused. Consees phone use. She paused between topics to give us time to ask questions. Always reviewed stuff.

Prof. Paladino perhaps isn't the best at staying on track during lectures but she really does mean well. Her midterm and quizzes were all take home and open book and she went above and beyond to offer me help with my research proposal. She has high expectations, so you have to put in some of effort, but it's certainly not impossible to do well.

A lot of the stuff we went over came useful in other classes. Broad range of subjects were covered and she made us think critically about problems that plague our society. The readings and documentaries were interesting. She's really into news articles. You have to read a lot of them. But that's good because you become more informed!

This prof helped open my mind. Incredible documentaries that you'll always remember. I liked that she plays devils advocate a lot, even when she might not actually support what she's saying. Don't get distracted because she'll notice and call you out. That helps your performance but can get annoying. She's really nice though.

She really comes off as tough, but is more than reasonable when it comes to grading. Not sure how she grades in other classes. I learned A LOT. Well worth taking a class with her.

Prof Paladino is awesome. She's really down to earth. I honestly thought this would be a boring class but it's far from that! And she really breaks things down until you get it. Makes herself available when you need help. Also ties research to important issues encouraging critical thinking. Quizzes are take home and no TESTS.

Def take her research methods class. Challenges you but is more than reasonable with her grading. Just makes you work for it. Her lectures are interesting and involved. Makes research not boring & stayed hours after class (which ended at 10pm) &even skyped with students to help them!

She was a great professor, sure she lectures pretty heavy. But she really cares about the students, if you have a problem just speak to her and she will do her best to accommodate with you. Test wasn't the easiest lots of writing. But she is worth taking. She even brought in some snacks for us on the last day and that shows how sweet she is.

So worth taking. She basically offers tutoring to every one of her students and is down to earth.

to be honest i was a bit worried about taking her class bc i heard she's tough. her tests are not hard at all. and she's the sweetest professor ever and SO funny which makes her class so much more enjoyable. she lets you do written parts of tests at home because she said writing is a process that shouldn't be rushed.

Professor Paladino is a real one. She lays everything out for her students very simply and expects you to actually work. Shes very kind and uses a lot of her own resources to help her students. What you put in you get out with this professor. Prof Paladino is very approachable and will work with you if you talk to her. I highly recommend her.

Prof Paladino is one of those profs you'll remember after college. Really puts time into helping you understand things and doesn't make you feel like an idiot when you dont. She explains what you don't get in a funny way and in a way you can relate to so you won't forget. She makes boring topics like theory really interesting.

Get ready to read the textbook. She is a good professor, but you have to put in the work.

I def would take her again for an online course. She has the most soothing voice and is very clear when she talks. There are profs out there that don't care at all about providing good quality audio and interesting discussion. I know this now that I'm taking more online courses!! The workload is average. She was really flexible due to covid.

She assigns a lot of reading but it's pretty straight forward and she's flexible with deadlines. The lectures are clear and she covers most of the readings in them which is a huge plus. She also uploads lectures once a week and keeps them under 2 hours.

What stands out most is Paladino's understanding of the topics covered. She gives real-life scenarios you can't find in any textbook. Lectures aren't boring and her instructions on assignments are clear which really helps calm nerves. A lot of time given to do work. Seems like a genuinely compassionate person. Need more profs like her.

Solid class. Gave us 1-2 wks to listen to each topic lecture & they stay posted for the whole semester. conssticks to syllabus & big on citing work, proalmost always replies to emails same day and gives extra credit and easy written an multiple choice tests. No essays. Dunno about others but all vids were free & hyperlinked on syllabus.

Prof Paladino makes you work for your grade but you know exactly what she expects from you. Her instructions are always crystal clear. You know how you're being graded since she tells you upfront. Surprisingly quite lenient and forgiving when it comes to grading. Learned more in this class than in my other 3 classes combined. No complaints.

Looking back I should have focused more on the written tests than the multiple choice quizzes. The tests aren't hard but they're worth a lot more of your grade. You have to make sure you cite everything, which is a bit tedious. Other than that, this is a really easy class and I'd definitely take another class with her!

Seems intimidating at first, but it's not a hard class at all! The book is def oddly structured and ur basically clinging to Prof. Paladinos notes to make sure u haven't missed any points. If ur struggling, she puts time into helping you. I do wish I took this class in the fall/spring not summer. I feel I'd have been able to get more out of it.

This professor is compassionate and really understanding! There were serious blackboard issues that some of us were having the first two weeks of class like the course disappearing and reappearing from blackboard and she didn't hesitate to give extensions. The course outline is also crystal clear. Workload is pretty reasonable.

I'd def take Prof P again. Workload is fair and assignments are pretty easy assuming you got the readings done. There's no way around that because she makes you cite each answer and include the pg numbers. Bit tedious but not hard at all. Lectures are heavy and involved but they're entertaining and she gives a lot of notes.

Too early to say what I'll get. Class isn't that hard. Nothing ambiguous about what she wants. Only 2 written exams and they're spaced out with a couple of multiple choice quizzes in between. No essays. Gives over a week to complete midterm, which is all open ended questions. Don't know about others but so far she's been emailing back.

Jeez, people are so cruel. She's not bad, maybe misunderstood. It's an asynch class so there's really no way to tell how she is unless you actually try to talk to her. Reading all these reviews I was scared to email her but when I did it wasn't anything like I read here in negative reviews. I regret not talking to her sooner. Chill people.

Her midterm was intense but gave me extra time because of my situation. Just talk to her if you're having a hard time. Pretty flexible and reasonable when you do.

Prof Paladino's soc240 class is challenging without a doubt. But I wouldn't say hard. You just can't wing it. I read and take notes more in this class than others, but I also learn more in this class than others so it's not for nothing. This prof has helped me and given me an extension when I needed it. What I like most is she records her lectures.

good class. most work is done in the first two months so the rest of the semester is easy sailing.

She's reasonable. I wish the quizzes were shorter but she seems to curve them. The material is interesting and sometimes she'll substitute recorded lectures with extra notes.

This professor is REALLY nice and understanding. Goes out of her way to accommodate you. Took her a while to return the written midterm, but I wasn't at all disappointed with my grade. Gave good feedback even on Qs I got full credit for. Her point system is incredibly easy to follow so there are no surprises. And grants more time when you need it.

Two written assignments which are the midterm and final and a few multiple choice quizzes. Gives SO MANY notes and even shares recorded lectures for students to listen to on their own time. Great structure for those with a busy schedule. Also, one of the few professors at john jay who will go out of their way to help you.

This professor is very helpful when you're in a bind and facing technical difficulties with assignments! Responds within minutes. doesn't matter the time or day.

Professor Paladino is willing to work with you as long as you communicate. There is a lot of readings, the tests are written exams with extra credit questions. She does give extra credit at the end . The final exam is very critical to your grade. Do all the readings, watch the videos and communicate with her if you have a issue. You will be fine.

This prof's courses are structured in a way easy to follow. Not too many written tasks (just midterm and final) and she gives 2 weeks to do each. Quizzes aren't timed (well they were in the beginning but she ended up giving 3+ days). If ur used to short quizzes, response papers, and a final paper, you'll have to adjust a lil but it's worth it.

This professor really goes out of her way to help her students. She'll make time and then some. The best part is that when you're anxious about not understanding something, she helps until you're confident to proceed on your own.

Though deadlines often get pushed back she reduces the workload over time. At the end of the semester there were fewer audio lectures. She gave a lot of written notes. Lecture are helpful in understanding the material. Not a tough grader at all. Points are spread out so if you mess up earlier on it doesn't hurt you that much. I'd take her again.

This prof's reasonable. Easily accessible when you need clarification on instructions. Quizzes are 15-20 ques. per chapter and spaced apart. They're not timed and there's a lot of time to do them. Pretty lenient grader with written assignments which take about an hour to do. NO MIDTERM, just final. Gives extensions. No surprises.

She reaches out a lot and helps tons with the final paper. What I liked most is she structured the class around the paper so you know exactly what she expects. Also helps with finding articles and coming up with ideas for your paper. It was asynchronous but she had us meet with her on zoom halfway into the semester so she could guide us.

Has her quirks but overall she's easy. I do wish in her audio lectures she'd say when to move on to the next slide. There's a lot of info. But the fact you can pause go back and listen to them whenever you want sort of makes up for that inconvenience. Her notes and audio lectures help tons and you get a lot of time to do assignments.

This prof isn't much different from others when it comes to the level of difficulty. I do wish the deadlines for her written assignments stayed the same. On the plus, she never reduces the amount of time you get to do them, just adds time. She hasn't posted audio lectures for this class, but she posts really detailed notes. Clear grading criteria.

She's really nice and takes the time to talk to you. Knows the material well, but traditional when it comes to teaching style. Requires citations on everything. Gives a week or so for written assignments. They're not hard, but need more time. Deadlines change & you have to remember to look at updates. Adjusts to how the class does. Curves grades.

Comes off as really strict and hard, but is more than reasonable with grading. Almost always gives an extension when you request it and she's nice in emails. Her assignments could be tedious, but she's explicit with instructions and she asks you to analyze violent behavior in different contexts--all based on interesting documentaries.

If you would like to learn please don't hesitate to take her. super caring, extra credit for meeting if it is asynchronous class. amazing and understanding Both words crown goes to her. easy quizzes, and please make sure to cite your writing assignments.

A GEM! Prof AP cares about her students and is very supportive of them. Busy person but takes time before n after class to talk thru issues. Not the best at giving back grades fast, but shes a lenient grader and actually puts time into her feedback. Learned the most in her class. Def would take her again, hopefully for something crj related 100%

Professor Paladino's class has a fair workload - quizzes, midterm, and final, but she gives ample time. She's understanding and the material is engaging. Unstuck study was helpful for my studying.
