The classes were easy to follow and made understanding the material manageable. He is a fair grader who returns exams on time. You can tell that he is passionate about math and is skilled at making difficult concepts simple.
Aman was really helpful in class! At the beginning of the semester I heard calc 2 was horrible but he made it fun & I learned a lot. Also, its great that he works in the math tutoring center so definitely stop by to get extra help! Since he explains the material well, when it comes to grading he cares more about work than the correct answer.
I suck at math and I have always hated math, until I had Aman as my TA. He has taught me so much even though it took him very long to teach me. I would ask him so many questions and he would answer all of them. Only once he yelled at me, but other than that he always has so many patience and is sooooooo caring. I love you AMAN <3
His teaching style is straightforward and actually makes math make sense. He also has a great sense of humor and knows how to keep the classroom engaged with his jokes. I would definitely recommend signing up for him for any math class!
I was struggling with Calc 2; however, I was fortunate to have Aman help me with the class.
Hes amazing. I took 2 semesters of calc and Failed both. I finally found Aman as my professor and my grade shot up. Thanks Aman
Great that's it. Just take him.
I struggled with calc and I was thinking about dropping my engineering major, but I found Aman as my TA and he made the class both enjoyable and easy. Highly recommend taking his class
Professor D'Souza is the best math professor i have ever had. He makes math so east and fun. Take his class you wont regret it.
Great Professor, willing to help as much as you are willing to ask for help. Funny and caring!
He's a great teacher, I wouldn't recommend anyone else! He's super efficient, personable, and helpful. He makes math interesting.
Discrete math is a hard class, but Aman explains it super well and makes it understandable! You can tell he has a passion for math and teaching, must take him!
He was so much help full and the person by who makes me to reach in that mindset for achieving that Grade.
I'm in the recitation he proctors for MATH 113 and he really understands the concepts and knows how to teach them very well!
He the only reason I am doing well on the exams. His recitation is helpful and even though some of the quizzes are hard, he goes over all the material before the quiz. You can tell he has a talent for teaching!
I'm in his calculus 1 recitation class this semester and it is by far the most productive recitation I have ever had! He explains the topics in an understandable way and is fair with his quiz questions. He also gives partial credit when he grades and goes over a lot of practice problems during class.
The best professor i've ever had for math, you'll actually learn in his class.
I had him for my calculus 2 recitation in 2019 and haven't had a better experience at gmu since.
My favorite professor this semester! I learned the material fairly quickly during the recitation, without studying beforehand. He simplifies difficult concepts so they are easily understood & makes it fun. His recitations helped me immensely. He's understanding when missing a recitation (w/ reasoning) & lets you make up the quiz during math lab.
Gives partial credit on recitation quizzes and he at the tutoring center almost everyday if you need extra help!
passed the class because of him. such a nice guy!
His recitation is all you need to do well in the class. Super helpful
The best professor and well respected!
The best professor I had this semester! Well-organized and replies to e-mails quickly, he grades the recitation quizzes within a week.
Calc1 was the last class I needed to graduate and thank god I had Aman for recitation. I learned everything there and did well on the exams. His recitation should have been longer than the lecture itself.
Easily the best recitation professor. I actually could learn and be engaged in his class last semester.
Aman was my TA for my Calc2 recitation and I learned more there in 50 minutes than any of the 3 hour lectures from the actual prof of the class.
He is an amazing professor who cares about his students and makes recitation enjoyable. He makes what would be an otherwise tough course bearable. Take him if you can!
This person sucked
The best recitation prof I ever had for math in all my years at mason. He made weekly worksheets that were relevant to the class, quizzes, exams, and went over them during recitation in an understandable way.
Differential equations is a hard class that uses a lot of prerequisite knowledge from calculus, but Professor D'Souza's recitations this semester helped me do well in the class and learn a ton, especially integration techniques.
I had him as my Recitation TA for Differential Equations this past spring semester and he was by far the best math TA I ever had at GMU. He actually goes over the recitation worksheets with the class problem by problem at a good pace so I actually learned. Great guy.
Aman is by far one of the best math instructors I've had: he is able to explain things in a way that is not only super intuitive and easy to understand. He genuinely goes above and beyond to help his students and he is very approachable. If you can definitely take one of his courses.
Do it
This is the best professor you can possibly get. Passed MATH 114 with 105% due to extra credits. Granted, the class wasn't hard for me. But he provide tremendous help and chances for extra credit to make sure that the WHOLE class is passing. If you still failed after all these things, maybe you should pick a different major cos math isn't for you.
Had him for Calc 2 this summer and he was great! He cares about his students and gives a fair chance to do well in the class. You have to earn your grade with quizzes and the exams, but he drops a bunch of quizzes and keeps your top ones. Definitely register for him whenever he teaches next!
Hands down the best professor I've ever had. If you have the chance, do not pass the opportunity to learn from him
I graduated this semester as a CS major and in all my years at GMU taking math, Aman was easily the best math professor. He is great at explaining math concepts and is always ready to answer questions in class.
Professor D'Souza taught my Differential equations recitation. He went above and beyond what most TA's do and really helped all the students understand the material with his own worksheets. I did well on the exams because I attended every recitation and got any questions clarified with him at office hours or at the math tutoring center.
I went to the math tutoring center quite frequently and it goes without saying Aman was my favorite tutor there. He would explain the problems in a way that makes so much sense. Aman is a huge reason why I was able to understand anything in discrete math, especially because I took it online. Probably best math professor at GMU.
Aman is one of the best professors here. I have never met a professor who is more accommodating and kind. I was going through lots at one point & talked to him & he took the time to ask if I was ok & granted me multiple extensions for homeworks. There are 2 midterms and he is very fair with how he grades them. Gold Standard for professors!!!
This guy is a G. He gives you every opportunity to pass the class. Content is sometimes difficult, but he is super down to earth and creates a great learning environment.
Professor D'Souza is amazing. He takes time to make sure that everyone can understand the lectures, and works through the difficult problems step by step. The exams can be a little difficult, but he grades them fairly and they aren't too bad as long as you understand content from Calc 1. He also talks with the recitation prof. regularly.
Honestly the best professor/teacher I've ever had! He explained things clearly and made calc so easy to understand. Attendance wasn't mandatory but he doesn't post his lectures on Blackboard so you have to attend to learn. I highly recommend him, he's super nice and cares about his students and is very passionate when he teaches!
Professor Aman is hands down the best math professor at GMU! Homeworks and quizzes are not lengthy, and the lectures actually make sense. I am not that good at math, but I learned a lot in this class. He cares a lot about teaching and is always willing to help
The GOAT, take his class
He is a great professor! I enjoyed attending his lectures, and I learned more calc1 in this class than I learned in actual calc1 last fall semester.
For someone who struggles at math, he made the class manageable and worth my time. Although attendance isn't mandatory I highly suggest you attend because he explains everything without overcomplicating the subject
Down to earth professor that is realistic about standards and is understanding of almost everyones situation if you take the time to talk to him. He grades fair and his lectures are very easy to understand, answers questions in an understanding manner. I would highly recommend him to anyone if they can get him.
Maybe one of the best professors to ever touch George mason ground. You would be lucky to get him. This Professor is not only an excellent teacher.. but explainer. He will make sure you understand the material throughly and give many examples so feedback can be provided to clarify. Be really prepared to be motivated throughout the whole semester!
I am taking Calc3 right now and I would not be doing well if it wasn't for Professor Aman's Calc2 class. He taught so well that I learned integration and basically all of Calc1/Precalc in his class. He is definitely the most skilled math professor at GMU, no doubt about that.
Take him, you won't regret it. His expectations are straightforward and the lectures are engaging. Never thought math could actually make sense.
Professor Aman is an excellent professor to take Calculus with; he makes it clear with grading criteria and answers quite literally any question you may have about the content in the class. The homework assignments are not hard to do regularly and if you happen to have an issue or delay, he gives you time to finish it as long as you let him know.
After taking 7 math classes at GMU, I only actually ever liked math after being in Professor Aman's recitations for Differential Equations. He has a way with teaching that very few professors have.
Best decision you'll ever make for math! Lectures are really good and he goes over a lot of practice problems. Everything on the exam is from the lecture, no curve balls.
Professor D'Souza is such an amazing professor. He is very knowledgeable, kind, and respectful to all students. His lectures are taught by solving problems on the board. The homework and quizzes were fairly easy and there were 3 exams. Those exams were the hardest part, but there is enough other work to make up for it. Great professor and person :)
Professor Aman is an Amazing professor to take Calculus .His grading criteria is so great. I am so inspired by his teaching skill. He is an excellent professor
10/10 would take again, i just wish he tough more classes because they are always fill up quick
Greatest prof, praying he teaches Calc 3 or Linear Algebra next semester
He's the best professor.
Taking precalc with Professor Aman right now and I can already say he's the best math teacher I ever had!
for the first time, I looked forward to going to math class. def the best math prof at mason 10/10
A friend of mine recommended I take precalc with Prof D'Souza because she knew him from undergrad years and I have no regrets at all so far! The first exam and the homeworks so far are straightforward and the lectures are easy to follow. Planning to take my entire calc sequence with him if he teaches Calc 1 in the spring.
Took this class with Joanna Jauchen online a year ago and failed cause I could not learn a single thing from her videos. Professor D'Souza legit teaches ALL the material and in a way that I feel comfortable doing the homework on my own with no other help.
I've never done well in any math class before this one! He's super kind, caring, and tries his best to help his students as much as possible. The weekly homework and quizzes are open-note, and his tests are honestly not that bad as long as you actually understand the homework material. This class is an easy A as long as you put in your full effort!
wouldn't have done well in diff-eq without him as my TA. wish I had him as my prof at gmu, he the goat.
Was a cool prof but was pretty face paced, kind of just goes thru problems during class without really explaining how to do it.
He is the best... Just take him and u will never regret it...
Prof. D'Souza is the most skilled and kind teacher I have ever had. The lectures are great, he has office hours everyday, and the exam questions are 100% from what he teaches. This class is easy if you attend lectures and do the homework. Don't hesitate to sign up for him!
King of math
Highly recommend him for precalc and any math class! Lectures are not at all boring and the exams are not difficult if you complete the homeworks.
Great prof, but exams can be hard
The man! He goes fast but will slow if you ask him to. Weekly hw (1-2), some weekly quizzes, 2 exams, and a final (everything is 20% of final grade). The exams are super easy if you understand the concepts and he gives curves. He is unintentionally funny so you'll get a kick out of his class
This is my third time taking Business Calculus and I can confidently say that Professor Aman is the best at teaching it. I am on track to pass the class this semester and I actually could follow the lecture material without having to get a tutor on the side. Take him!
I loved his class. My class was supposed to start at 8:30 but we would always finish an hour early so he switched the class to begin at 9:30. Everything is 20% of your grade so homework is weighted the same as the final. I highly recommend him; he is very clear and explains the topics well.
He tries to make the course as simple as possible, while still going over critical theories. He promotes the Math Tutoring Center as much as possible if you are struggling in the class.
Really enjoyed his class tbh, took pre-calc in high school and I was so lost ngl. But this man was straightforward and actually explained what to do and what not to do step-by-step. I really hope he teaches calc 1 next semester.
I don't know my final grade yet, but I actually looked forward to this class even though I'm not that good at math. attendance isn't mandatory, but attending the lectures is a must lowkey because he explains it in a way simpler way than the textbook or other online sources
He the best, you can tell he has fun teaching and tries his best not to complicate the subject. Waiting on my final grade, but both midterm exams and the final exam were straightforward. He makes the exams based on the lecture notes and homeworks. Hard to do bad in his class tbh
He's a super chill professor and is very understanding. While his teaching pace can be a bit fast, the homework and quizzes outside of class help grasp the concept.
Passed the class even tho I bombed the first midterm. He lets the final exam replace the lower midterm and hws and quizzes are 20% each. Highly recommend him
Hard prof would not recommend
I was doing so good in this class at the start of the semester but the professor who took days off and would cancel classes and shorten clases. Give us more work at the end of the semester basically throwing everything at us and not explaining problems got me a D . before the final exam he gave us a whole new topic to study and was on the test
The class was going fine but the final was rough. Had a C for most of the semester but the final dropped my score. Hard class and the exams are not really similar to homeworks.
Very organized and clear! Hoping I get him for Calc2 for the spring semester.
He's great! Doesn't seem like he is teaching calc1 in the spring, but praying this changes cause I've heard good things about that class from a friend who just had him too. Some might think the exams are hard but if you do the homework on your own, you'll be fine!
The best math prof on the east coast
He the best, you can tell he has fun teaching and tries his best not to complicate the subject. He is so inspiring.Waiting on my final grade, but both midterm exams and the final exam were straightforward. He makes the exams based on the lecture notes and homeworks. I really did great after I took his class.
Easy going lectures, straight forward. Thankfully, super nice. Chill ahh class. Took this course in HS and it was hell but he makes it not as bad.
Great professor and teaching style but his exams are very difficult.
Great professor and an all-around good guy but be aware his exams are very difficult.
Goated math professor. Too bad he isnt teaching any 200 level math class for my following semesters from what ive seen.
He is a great guy, very laid back, and understands what students go through.
He is a very chill professor. He is GOATED. Take him if you can. He tells you what can come on the test before hand and he cut down alot of topics for final exam. He responds to email quickly.
Came in late, a LOT. Always came in with Chick Fil A in his hand no matter how late he was, like bro cmon One of the toughest graders I've had, and his lectures are pretty lack luster. I wouldn't recommend him as a professor. He's a good guy with good intentions, just not the best teacher.
Great prof! The final exam replaces the lower midterm exam, weekly quizzes in recitation which help a lot, replies to e-mails fast, and doesn't drag on in lectures but keeps them simple
LeBron : Basketball Professor Aman : Mathematics
The best math teacher I have ever had, learned a lot in his calc 2 course. The exams can be kinda tough, but definitely related to the homework + quizzes. 100% recommend him
Had him for precalc in fall 2024 and since then took calc1 and currently taking summer calc2 with other professors and the difference is wild. Take him, workload is chill and you legit learn math
the goat of math profs
he is lebron in math
He's great and cares about his students tremendously. The hws are not long and the lectures are clear. Waiting for him to teach Calculus III
His class is amazing, smooth lectures and great energy!
His class is goated! Provides weekly chances for extra credit and the workload is more than fair.
Changed my major from cs to math cause of him
I have him for calc two. Honestly making the subject so understandable and fun. He is the best professor I've ever had.
Currently taking calc1 with D'Souza and he easily the goat
He the best, I look forward to his lectures! There are quizzes every week in recitation so keep up with the hw (which is not lengthy).
I took precalculus with Professor Aman last fall, calculus 1 with him in the spring, and just signed up to take calculus 2 with him for spring 2026. He explains the content very well and doesn't assign too much homework.
Don't take this class unless you already know most of the content. The professor has us do 'practice problems' in class but doesn't really go through the solving process. That's basically all of his lectures. Had to take tutoring for the second half of the semester just to pass because his teaching style really didn't work for me.
One of the best, if not the best, math teachers. he doesn't go too far into the details of most things, he usually goes over homework's and has quizzes every recitations. The test has questions from homework and recitation so pretty easy. He is always accessible and replies to emails all the time. Understands what he is teaching.
He is the best teacher/professor I have had! He gets to point with the lectures and has office hours every day. Signed up for Math 114 with him already!
He's the best professor I've had so far. He's great at explaining and his lectures are entertaining. The homework is fair and not too time consuming but for recitation you have weekly quizzes. He's also super caring and wants his students to pass.
One of the best math professors I have ever taken. His notes are based off the homework and he shows us genuine care. He can literally touch your heart if he notices any signs of your frustration, which is something I have never seen any other professor do. But please study well, because calc 2 is just very hard.
He is so goated. I thought I would be cooked in calc2 but he made it so easy and understandable. Make sure to go to every class, take notes and do hw then you will be good.
Best professor I've had. Clear on everything that is to be expected. Clearly explains even the hardest concepts to the class. Makes sure to extensively explain the main concepts needed to succeed in the class. Extremely caring and understanding of his students. Very fair grader. Go to lecture because you will learn extremely well and will love him!
Love this guy. He's very straight forward and gives a clear explanation to many topics. Homework is very easy and as he give more then enough time to complete it. If you're struggling, there is a bunch of office hours between him and his TAs. Already signed up for 114 with him.
