Class is really easy if you just study. Studied half as much as accounting one and made a 99 in the class. Never went to class tho. Kinda pointless
This was BY FAR the hardest class I have ever taken. Most of my time this semester was devoted to this class & it still didn't pay off. Doing the extra practice problems & understanding them means nothing when it comes to the exams. Her exams are impossible. You can feel 100% confident going into it & fail miserably, so it's really discouraging.
Shes a great teacher but doesnt teach everything thats on the test in lecture. You have to do that on your own by doing her additional practice and video problems. If you can do those several times and understand them youll be good for the test. Also take detailed notes on the summaries before the test they will save u on the conceptual
Farmer has a great personality. She's kind and caring. Her class however is extremely tough. She is one of the few Acct 2 teachers so you'll most likely take her. I spent weeks studying for exams and still did horrible. Definitely seek outside help and free tutoring if you can. Redo practice exams over and over, similar questions on her exams.
Hard class, teacher is okay.
Amanda Farmer is the worst accounting teacher to walk this Earth. Do not listen to what any of the other rating say as this is the 100% truth. She does not get close to teaching test material during lectures. Students are required to teach themselves all the important material through online material and she purposefully tricks students on tests.
Acts nice during class, but then ruins students grades during the tests. Never teaches important test material in class and goes on unrelated tangents all the time. Purposefully tries to mess with students minds during test by throwing absurd curveballs never seen before. Take this class over the summer.
Farmer is the worst teacher ever. We are about to take our second test and she didn't finish going over 3/4 chapters. I have no clue what I am doing and am constantly trying to teach myself what to do. She is perky but her tests are so mean. The class itself isn't bad, but unless you are an accounting god so good luck.
Never seen a professor so excited that her test averages are consistently in the high 60s/low 70s.
So I'm split on this class. On one hand, I've been doing well. On another, it's not rewarding. My gripe is not that the tests are hard but that they often feel punishing. Often times, I'm put in a position where all of my tried and true methods are scrutinized. It feels like developing comfortable solutions is not rewarded on her tests. She's funny
People cry while taking the tests. I certainly did. CRUEL tests, curveballs, trickery afoot. The practice problems she gives are at level 1 and the tests are level 40. As a person, she is friendly. She draws you in telling you she wants to make this easy for you, then watches as your GPA plummets.
GPA crusher. Exams meant to trick you. Scholarships threatened. She's got extra credit though, make sure you do all of it!
Probably my least favorite professor at UGA. Her lectures are not clear and hard to follow; she adds a lot of unnecessary fluff which makes it hard to understand what is going on. The tests are long and extremely hard. You could walk out of the test thinking you got an 100 and actually fail it. The good thing is that she gives LOTS of extra credit
Farmer is just not as bad as most people say. Her tests can be tricky but every single trick she throws is mentioned in class at some point. If you pay attention and take good notes and do all of the review you will be ready. Her exams require a conceptual knowledge of the math. If you understand what you're doing and read carefully it's a breeze.
I've never seen anyone try to trick students like she does. The class is not about learning the material, it's about what part of the problem she is trying to trick you on. Completely unnecessary for non-Accounting majors. You can win her Kahoots, know the slides front to back, do the practice problems in your sleep, and still fail every exam.
She just gave us a formula for our test that doesn't actually work for every problem. Take that as you want.
Farmer really makes you work for your grade but does want you to succeed. Your best test is weighted more heavily than your worst and there is tons of extra credit (about 6% on your overall grade). Her organization is hard to follow and this class is hard, but it is possible to do well. I would take her again, but I'm glad I don't have to.
This class is no joke. Unfortunately if you're a business major, you don't have much of a choice. The tests are ridiculously hard, but the class is relatively manageable. She is a great professor and brings a ton of energy to the lectures, but get ready to prepare 40+ hours per test, at least
Professor Farmer is a very nice lady and I think she is a solid teacher, but her exams are absolutely ridiculous. I understand the fact that Professor Farmer and UGA want to challenge us as students, but there is a such thing as "going too far" and I believe that's what this course does.
Farmer is one of the hardest teachers i have ever had. Tests are insanely hard and include questions that you didn't even learn about but are supposed to apply yourself to get the answer. you feel very confident on all the assignments and problems done in class but Farmer then destroys you on the test. Massive GPA killer.
farmer made me mad sometimes bc she was tricky but she always mentioned her curveballs during class or did them in the additional practice. to do well, i did every practice problem available on elc like 3 times, made study guides for every chapter to sum up the important concepts, and started studying days before. not impossible, just work for it!!
As long as you read the lectures, go over the powerpoints, do the additional practice, and do the problems with videos (VERY IMPORTANT), then you can get an A in this class. Don't get discouraged after the 1st test. I got a 76 on the 1st, then 96 and 100. All I did was the above. She offers 7 full points of EC onto your final grade. I loved her.
Farmer is a sweet professor who taught each chapter concept very clearly. She posts numerous videos and additional practice for each chapter, and she wrote lecture documents so that we wouldn't have to read a textbook! I love her. Tests are definitely difficult; you have to read each answer choice and notice specific words. But, extra credit is 7.5
I had a C in Accounting 1 and came out with an A in Accounting 2. If you stay on top of the content and study 3-4 days in advance, an A is very achievable, especially with the extra credit. Farmer is much more predictable on tests than Swati in ACCT2101.
Professor Farmer is a very nice professor and she cares a lot about her students. People take bad about her & her class but her class isnt hard. The people who dont like her are the people who are to lazy to do the work and/or to unintelligent to be at this school. She will always work with you if you need help & she always wants you to get an A.
Class not too hard if you put in the work. Tests are somewhat challenging but doable if you stay on top of your work and studying. Tons of extra credit.
Shes a super nice person. She can be a bit scattered at times, but you can clarify everything from the videos she posts on ELC. Homework load isnt bad. Tests are tough; the class definitely isnt a cake walk. Study as much as possible during the week.
Professor Farmer was difficult, but she was always super enthusiastic about the material and made coming to class worth it. The tests weren't easy by any means, but they were similar to the homework and practice questions that we did in class. We had 7.5 extra credit points we could earn on our overall grade, so doing all of it was worth it.
This class is definitely not easy. You will have to work very hard and Farmer will push you to your limits to earn every point. I struggled in this class at first, but I kept working hard and improved my test scores each time. Don't let the reviews completely scare you. It is hard, but she is a good professor, and you just have to be ready to work
tests are extremely difficult and I had to study a least a week in advance. she gives a TON of extra credit so that's what helped me in this class a lot.
Farmer clearly cares about her students and does a wonderful job teaching. However, the tests are just an impossible three hour marathon. I used Skoolers for all of her exams, which helped a ton. As others have said, do the extra problems that she gives you and make sure you know the content inside and out.
Farmer is very enthusiastic, and you can tell she loves accounting; however, accounting is a really tough course no matter who you take. She does give a tone of extra credit though so even with bad test grades you can pass! If you want an A, you are gonna have to work pretty hard for it, but you can get a B or C without working too hard.
I really enjoyed Farmer's class! She gives you plenty of material to study for the exams, and mentioned in class when there would be questions where you needed to pay attention to the wording. The homework isn't too bad, and she gave our class a ton of extra credit. As long as you understand HOW to work through the practice problems, you'll be fine
She is a very nice lady and very personable, but that does not make this class any easier. I had to spend a lot of time studying for each test, but the weekly load is very manageable outside of that. I think that by the end of the semester, we were also able to add up to 3 points to our final grade if we did extra credit, so that was really nice.
Most of the reviews on here if not all about her tests/practice/homework etc are true. But I had a huge problem with how she taught in class. She lectures/talks the entire class without writing anything down till the last 5-10 min. I am a very visual learner and I basically taught myself everything. Extremely frustrating for such a hard course.
I have never been so enraged over a professor in my life. The lack of sincerity/care is remarkable. If you think having her in person is bad, try losing 3 weeks of school from Covid-19 and then getting thrown into an exam that is near impossible to do. Zero heart/regard for anyones situations and took advantage of a really sad and scary time.
Of all bad professors at UGA, she beats them all. She makes this class way too hard for non-accounting majors. Purposely tries to trick you on exams which I also think is extremely unnecessary. No consideration for students whatsoever. If I had one wish, I'd go back in time and take someone different.
Accounting isn't easy, but she makes the material engaging. You will need to keep up with the class for sure, because the tests are tough. But if you stay on top of your work you will be ok. She holds regular office hours and encourages you to come to them as much as possible.
Professor Farmer's class is definitely no joke. You will probably spend more time studying for this class than any other you have taken, however, it is one of those classes that if you actually do the work (HW, Quizzes, & Addition Problems) you should know the material. Best advice is to do as many different problems as you can.
She's a good professor, she is organized and gives you a lot of materials to be able to do well in this class. the practice problems are pretty similar to the tests so if you do those you'll be fine. just pay attention and go to class and it's not as bad as everyone says
Farmer's class was so much better than ACCT 1. If you take the honors section, she gives you partial credit and written response questions so you can make up points. Get the skooler's packets, do her video problems, read her lecture docs and go to class and you'll be golden.
When you are working through her additional practice problems, actually do them for comprehension rather than memorization. She likes to take things you've learned and ask them in different ways. Make reviewing for the class an everyday thing. Don't be afraid of the negative reviews, just work smart. Her class is not impossible to excel in.
Ugh, Farmer is a great lady and can tell she cares for students, but when it comes to material you better be ready to do work. Tests are hard enough to where I wasn't motivated to learn after the first test. We asked for a study guide and she said "If you want your tests to be harder, then I can". Homeworks are useless but the quizzes are helpful.
Many say her tests are impossible but they aren't. Got a 104 on the first test prior to COVID pandemic. You really have to put in a ton of effort, though. She gave 4.25 points of extra credit to our class. USE THE eLC RESOURCES. Practice the problems. Everything she says is important. Takes lots of critical thinking. I learned a lot in this class.
I actually love Farmer. She's passionate and great at explaining information. Only neg abt her teaching imo is that she sometimes over-complicate things. Her exams 100% test your knowledge, and unfortunately are not reflective of assignments (exams are harder). But they are 100% doable! She gives all the information necessary to succeed.
I went into this class thinking I would hate Farmer because of reviews she had, but she has actually been such a great professor especially when switching to online. The class is hard for sure but she actually cares about her students. Homeworks help but the biggest thing is the practice problems and videos she gives (test is similar)
She gives a lot of additional practice to help you learn the content. The tests were pretty difficult. I did not pay much attention in class and taught myself at home. I did all right on the exams, but I had to work for it. Participation matters. There are hw assignments and quizzes for each chapter which boost your grade. Some extra credit.
Amanda Farmer is absolutely amazing, but with that being said she is one of the hardest professors at UGA. She will work with you out of class... going to office hours really helps. Also, you need to comprehend what she is asking in questions and not just memorize how to do it. Be prepared to work hard. FYI: Test 1 is the hardest.
The class itself is not as hard as people make it seem. You can prepare for the "curveballs" on the tests by understanding every practice problem that Farmer provides. Definitely not a class where you can memorize everything. You have to actually understand what you are doing.
I don't know why but I did not learn in this class. It was extremely difficult for me, and with a tutor, I barely got an A-. You don't have much choice with teachers for ACCT 2, but whatever. I hated it but you'll survive. She gives a lot of extra credit which is awesome
She's a southern fireball and doesn't deserve her low score on here. If you can put in the work and study several hours for tests, you can totally get an A. The people complaining likely did not pay attention in class and studied 1-2 hours before the test. Don't take her if you don't want to work for your grade. Do the additional practice problems!
I thought she was a great, engaging teacher, but the class itself is challenging. As long as you study and put in the work, you will do fine. She gave our class a lot of material to study and work with. Also, lots of extra credit!
Literally the sweetest professor ever, but don't be fooled into thinking her tests aren't very hard. I had her during quarantine so things were quite different, but she gives so much extra credit so DO THE READING QUIZZES. give yourself about a week and a half to study for the test and do all of the practice she gives you!
Nice person, good at explaining things. Brutal tests, but that's pretty inescapable with ACCT 2102
Prof. Farmer is the hardest professor Ive had. Her lectures go off topic very easily and its very hard to study for tests since not much practice is provided. The practice problems on ELC and MyAcctLab are not even close to the actual tests. No curves are provided. Fortunately extra credit is provided at the end to help your grades.
Professor Farmer is an excellent lecturer, by which I mean that her lectures are very engaging. She keeps your attention. You may even enjoy the class that is, until the first test. I've never seen exams that were so long and just mind numbing. After the first test, I did the Skoolers reviews and wish I did so earlier. They helped tremendously.
She is not good with the lectures that are already too long and she doesnt stay close with the book. All the questions she asks she makes on her own which doesnt give any opportunity to learn on your own either. Unforgiving, does not care, and god help you if you need help.
My last brain cell tries so hard to comprehend this material but it just ain't working.
Farmer is by far one of the best professors I've had at UGA. I took her class during COVID online courses (FALL 2020), and she did an awesome job transition to online courses. She doesn't require you to read the textbook. Instead, she uploads "reading documents", she wrote them herself so the book isn't required. She is very engaging.
Accounting does not come easy to me, but Professor Farmer really helps you to better understand it. She knows her material VERY well and hopes you do too by the end of the semester. Be ready to put in SEVERAL hours everyday for this class. If you study hard, complete all assignments, and complete her extra credit, you'll succeed in this course.
Mrs. Farmer is an excellent teacher that really cares about all of her students. Accounting is no joke and you will have to work hard for a good grade but she provides all of the tools to get there. She is very patient and excellent at answering student questions. She is always upbeat and excited to teach class which makes every class better.
Don't believe the low ratings! Professor Farmer is a great professor, and I really think it showed through the transition online. She has videos, extra practice, and plenty of resources to pass the class. But you do have to work hard for it! Her lectures are engaging, and honestly her analogies and weird problems are why I am passing.
She's so sweet, but don't be fooled by her charm. The course is very hard and you need to be on top of things to do well. I recommend buying Skoolers. She gives out about a total of 5 whole points to your final grade of extra credit throughout the semester, which is very helpful. She makes the material easy to understand
Farmer is one of the best professors I've had. She is overall an amazing teacher and person. She would make me excited to go to accounting and actually somehow makes it fun. If you put in the time and work for the class you will do fine. She offers a lot of extra credit so take advantage of it!!!
Farmer is a great lecturer but this class is unbearable. The amount of studying required for exams is disheartening. I really feel she cares for students, but the class itself and the homework/reading quizzes/chapter quizzes - along with 3 hour exams- can take a toll on any student. Do the extra credit, go to class, and do the practice problems.
Professor Farmer is really great and its obvious she loves teaching. She is so positive and helpful. I hated ACCT 2101 but her class changed my opinion of accounting. She gives you great resources and if you do all the work, you will do well. The tests are a little hard but definitely doable.
Professor Farmer is so nice and caring. You can tell she enjoys what she does and wants her students to succeed!
Professor Farmer was extremely considerate and effective during our time in class during COVID. She gave numerous resources for each chapter that are on the tests. If you understand and know how to do every practice problem that is on eLC, you will do great on tests. I saw a post about needing Skoolers for this class? No. Just use her practice
Farmer is a very nice professor who definitely cares about her students. Instruction was a large step up from 2101. However, expect to have to put in the work in this class - the tests are challenging and are the majority of your grade. Do every practice and video problem and youll be fine. She also gives extra credit, sometimes on short notice.
Amanda is a good professor. I simply did not adjust well to the online format. PLEASE turn on your ELC notifications because she gives extra credit opportunities but it can be very short notice. Also, there are a lot of hw assignments. They help for the most part. She is very enthusiastic and cares about her students but it definitely a hard class.
Professor Farmer is a good professor; the class has a reputation for being very difficult, but with Farmer's enthusiastic approach, plentiful extra credit opportunities, and giving you all the information to study, your grade reflects your effort for the most part.
I really liked Professor Farmer. Her passion for accounting is obvious, which made the tough work more bearable. I found the material and tests difficult, but the tests never had any surprises or content that was not covered in class or on the homework. She also offers plenty of extra credit that helped me squeak out an A.
The class itself is very rigorous with a lot of homework assignments, reading quizzes, and quizzes. However, Professor Farmer is a really great teacher, and truly takes the time to thoroughly go over every concept. She makes the class more engaging and interesting, and she is just super nice. I would definitely take her!!!
Professor Famer seems caring, but as a professor, I simply can't learn from her. The structure of the course is all over the place - we move on and take quizzes over chapters after we're half way done with the next chapter. Her lectures are very example based, she moves very fast and is hard to follow, and the tests are extremely difficult.
This class is awful. Every question on her tests is insanely hard with a bunch of things to trick you. The average for the class for the first test was a 63 before the curve and a 71 after the curve. Her lectures are impossible to follow because she talks insanely fast and hand writes all her notes with terrible handwriting. 3 Tests 75% of grade
Prof. Farmer is a nice woman but she is easily the worst professor I've had in Terry (yes, even worse than Aronson). Her lectures are just her working quickly through problems and her handwriting is TERRIBLE. Tests are the majority of your grade. Made A's on every test in 2101 but made a 40 on Farmer's 1st test. Take Matthews if you can.
This class was a lot more challenging than I participated. I've heard a lot of good things about her, but she moves quickly in her lectures and the exams are very tricky. You will definitely have to dedicate a lot of time outside of class to learn and practice the content. There is no required homework other than short reading quizzes.
Farmer is not good at explaining the material. She is a nice person but does not need to be a professor. She writes all of her test and quiz questions and they are VERY tricky! She only offers 3 practice questions for each chapter which for me was not enough. Her practice problems do not accurately represent the difficulty of her exams.
I was surprised by the bad reviews for this semester. If you struggle with accounting, just follow the schedule she gives and reach out to her and you will be successful. Easily made As on her tests. She is SO nice and her lectures are easy to follow if you prepare. Doable exams, but you can't wait until the day before! Use her resources too!
She is so nice, but test material is harder than the practice done in lectures. I was never amazing at Accounting (made an 88 in ACCT 2101), but I'm struggling to get above C's in 2102. Maybe I'm a slow learner, but just get ready to spend 2-3 hours, 7 days a week studying if you want great scores. Do the practice repeatedly and watch your timing.
I was terrible in 2101 (got B-), but Farmer was a breath of fresh air. Most of ur grade is test based and as long as u take notes in class and do a couple practice problems it shouldn't be too hard. I made high 90s on both of the first tests w 1 hr of studying total. Super helpful, cares a lot abt her students, and gives a lot of extra cred
Professor Farmer tries to lead on this persona that she is a caring professor and will do anything to help you learn in her class, but she is constantly pushing off the teaching part of her job and focusing it all on to the student. She does toss up questions for every lecture and then the practice problems and exams will be 2x as hard. DO NOT TAKE
Dr. Farmer's relaxed and inspiring with her stories. Even though she doesn't give feedback on tests and quizzes, the final grade comes mostly from tests, and there's no replacement final, all of my questions and concerns were elucidated during Zoom class and review! Just pay attention, do the work, and ask questions! Tests open-note during COVID
She is a nice, caring professor, but her time management skill isn't the best. She spends too much time teaching earlier chapters or concepts and end up rushing/skipping through the later ones. I can tell that she's trying to make sure that everyone is following, but it can be frustrating when you need to teach yourself before the exam.
Prof Farmer seems like a nice person so I am in no way trying to attack her character but personally this class was terrible. Prof Farmer wants you to do a bulk of the work outside of class, we go over the easy questions in class then the questions on the test are super hard, even the Skoolers guy said so, which if you take this class get Skoolers!
This is the worst class Ive ever taken. I got an A- in ACCT2101 and im not even sure ill pass this class. Her lectures are impossible to follow and her handwriting is jumbled and illegible. Her tests are nothing like her practice problems. Even the skoolers tutor says he has no idea what shes talking about half the time. Do NOT take farmer
This class definitely wasn't enjoyable in many senses. Like someone else mentioned, her time management isn't the best. You will need to spend some time outside of class in order to learn all the material for exams that she failed to teach. She takes forever to release online multiple-choice exam grades for some reasons.
I really enjoyed Dr. Farmer's class. She is a very kind lady and is passionate about the subject. Expect to work hard outside of class, but if you truly take advantage of all of the practice materials, ask questions during review, and actively listen during the lectures, you will be just fine. If you work hard, it will certainly pay off!
I loved Dr. Farmer. 100% would take her again even though I about failed my first test. She is so funny and will do anything to help you understand the material. There are 3 tests and no cumulative final. Biggest piece of advice is to go to every class and keep up with assignments. This class is definitely challenging but it's possible to get an A.
Dr. Farmer is an AMAZING professor. People who left negative reviews (most likely) did not put in the work. She gives you everything needed to succeed. Plus, she is hilarious and makes the class more engaging. The step-up in instruction from 2101 is crazy. She will not expect you to teach yourself, and she wants to prepare you well for her tests.
She's really passionate and puts in a lot of effort to make sure her students succeed. The content really isn't that difficult and she organizes the class in a concise format.
As others have said, professor Farmer is really passionate about this class but she also makes it very difficult. Over the summer there were no exams besides the final which was a lot. I got the skoolers and it helped a ton! Be ready to put in the time, though. She doesn't mess around.
I had a great experience with Professor Farmer. She is very good at explaining the concepts in her mini lectures. I took her over the summer and she didnt give any exams except a final that she later made optional. She didnt make us read the book, and she gave us plenty of practice problems that resembled what was on the comprehension quizzes.
She is a good prof, but the class is hard just like any terry acct class. Be prepared to work, but she is excellent in explaining materials.
She's a good person and cares about her students but there are only 7 quizzes and a project that your grade depends on heavily. Quizzes are very difficult and she talks more about her kids in class than about content.
Not a good choice to take her class. She does not explain the material well at all. Tests are impossible our first class average was like a 64. Seriously? Whats the point in that.
If you have strong previous accounting knowledge, maybe you will do better. However if you are new to the concepts in any way good luck trying to figure out her style of teaching. Very disappointing
I love Farmer. I really do. However, it's November and I'm still trying to figure out her teaching style. If you have previous acct knowledge this will be a breeze, but I feel like she smooths over some information that is vital to the tests. We had 7 "quizzes" but they're all so few points that one wrong question drops you to an 80. So be careful
Farmer is very nice, but she isnt very receptive to criticism. She made an anonymous discussion board for us to voice concerns, but the second another student did, she got really mad and deleted the board while also making passive aggressive comments about the student in class. Very disappointing, because she seems really nice.
It is very hard to follow her confusing teach style. Her notes are basically useless because you can't go back and review what she did. Her handwriting/scribble is hard to read. She does not take feedback and doesn't really make it easy to approach her. Her breakdown of the quizzes is nice but honestly kind of pointless when everyone is failing.
shes hard and you will struggle. i only got an A- bc of covid. Otherwise I would have gotten at the max a C+
She's nice but is completely defensive to criticism. She blew up on a girl who posted on the anonymous discussion board for "hiding behind a screen" instead of emailing her directly. Content isn't hard but tests are completely unfair since she really only provides 1 example per chapter, which is strange for someone so passionate about the subject.
so hard. i loved acct 2102, this class is insane. worst teacher ever.
Its really frustrating that Professor Farmers solution to constantly running out of time in class is for us to just teach ourselves from the videos online. If I could fully learn the material from the videos and slides online, I just wouldnt go to class?? Extremely disappointing, literally made me change my major from accounting. Worst class.
A lot of work needed outside of class to understand the material. She does not go over a lot of things in lecture and expects you to learn them on your own.
She's the worst. The wording on her test questions is always messed up, which makes it hard to correctly interpret. She doesn't teach well, don't take this class.
I wish I took accounting 2102 before coming to UGA because this professor does not know how to teach this course and I made a A in accounting 2101.
Professor Farmer is not nearly as tough as her reviews make it seem. She provides a ton of resources to practice the material and if you put the time into this class that it needs you will do okay. Managerial accounting is tough in itself, but I would still recommend taking her class if no other prof is available. Just be ready to put in the work.
This class was difficult because this professor talks about her kids rather than the subject.
Its really frustrating that Professor Farmers solution to constantly running out of time in class is for us to just teach ourselves from the videos online.
This class definitely wasn't enjoyable in many senses and her time management isn't the best.
Take accounting 2102 at another university and not university of georgia because there's only professor that teaches and she talks about her kids.
She doesn't teach well, don't take this class.
Never thought I would say this, but Farmer and her ACCT 2102 class make ACCT 2101 look like childs play. I am baffled at how the content that she presents to us and the content given to us on her quizzes are so mismatched. You pretty much have to teach yourself everything. This class is a joke (a sick one).
Horrible time management and unprofessional. Talks about kids, yoga, and cooking in class. Always behind schedule; must teach yourself. Unfortunately, she is your only choice. EC is max 3 points added to final grade (e.g. 91->94). Tests 50% Reading Q's 10% Project 10% Final (Cumulative) 30%. Tests & Final online, open-note, "proctored" via Zoom.
Some students find her personality "nice" but its actually "fake." The other posts about the anonymous discussion board are true. Needs to take an anger management and/or communication skills course. A friend told me she is even condescending in office hours. On the bright side, everybody hates her class, so its a good conversation starter.
This is the only accounting professor which sucks because you wont learn anything in this class. She only talks about her kids, yoga, and cooking which makes this class 10 times harder.
Do not take this class!!!
I recommend you do not take this class, and take it somewhere else?!!
Amanda Farmer is not as bad as people are rating her. The class in itself is not easy but Farmer provides lots of practice questions that are very helpful. She mostly uses class time well and when she doesn't it's because she spends too long explaining a problem. Farmer is very nice and if you study, you will do well. Don't need the textbook at all
One of the worse experience that I have ever had.
This class is insane. Such a jump from 2101 with great teachers making it enjoyable and easy to learn. I made an A and loved 2101 and think this class is not even remotely comparable. This class will bring you huge amounts of stress. If accounting does not come naturally and you had to study in 2101 good luck, you will fail:)
Please please take this class at a different school. She doesn't care about her students, she just loves torturing them
This class is messed up because this professor does not want to teach the course and provide the incorrect answer for the practice exam.
she just loves torturing everyone in the class about this subject. I recommend you would not take her.
Theres a problem with this professor because she has no time management in this course.
This class was easier online than it was in person because of COVID-19.
This professor gave us a practice exam for the final with the incorrect answers. Worse experience since I got here.
Horrible time management and unprofessional. Talks about kids, yoga,
Dear Future students, DON'T TAKE THIS PROFESSOR Ended up dropping the class. She doesn't teach when in class, she just talks about her kids, yoga, and she has no time management.
Took this class a while back but I had to come back and warn you.
I previously wrote a rating but I wanted to add this: we had a really large project due in the middle of finals and she sent out an email basically saying if you send her an email that she finds pointless, she's going to remove points from your grade. She is so inaccessible and it feels like she is making a point to intimidate students.
Farmer is far and away the worst experience I have ever had in a class. While the material is difficult, its worsened many times over by her absolute lack of time management skills/short temper. She's wasted hours of class time this semester by talking about her kids, and has often left us to learn the material ourselves. If you can avoid her, do.
AWFUL! Her time management skills are horrible, she'd always run out of time @ the end of class bc she spends like 10 mins of every class talking abt her kids & told us to watch videos on ELC, which aren't helpful. She also assigned another 2 hour quiz & a project during finals... Also she told us not to email her DURING FINALS WEEK????
Even though I got A in this class, this professor gave the worse experience as a transfer student. I spend 6-10 hours studying just for her class.
I honestly like the Professor Farmer, but she does not know how to teach the material in the course.
Farmer made a class that should be easy exceptionally difficult. Her tests are ridiculous and lectures seem like a waste of time. This was the worst class I have taken at UGA.
Unfortunately this is the worst professor I've ever had. I enjoyed accounting 2101. Accounting 2102 is SO unorganized. The professor does not utilize class time and doesn't care that she doesn't teach you the material. Honestly the comprehension "quizzes" (exams.) are not all awful but she doesn't teach and the final is cumulative so you're done.
Coming out of 2101 I loved accounting. Professor Farmer made me hate it. Her comprehension quizzes were a horrible way to structure the class, and she barely taught anything in class. She would give one easy example for each chapter then test you on a question 10x harder. If you want to do well don't go to class just get skoolers.
Worse experience still managed to get any A.
This course requires some attention if you want that A or a passing grade because this professor does not have time managements and spends the most of time talking about her kids and yoga. The extra credit barely saved me because I ended up with a 90.00!
As student and I am currently sitting on a 49% average. I don't even know how University of Georgia gave her this job. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!
Just don't take her!!
soooo awful. even if u study. the cringiest part is the fact that she thinks shes a good teacher but shes absolutely horrible. all she does is talk about her kids and yoga and chickpea water. please do not take this horrible professor. she will ruin ur passion for accounting
Everyone expects accounting to be difficult because it is accounting, but this class felt unnecessarily difficult in certain aspects. The comp. "quizzes" were basically mini tests and lecture material was never finished in class so you have to spend time outside of class teaching yourself. Wish there was more practice and class time spent better :(
Worse experience that I ever had worse professor!
I don't know how she still has her job at this university because this professor did not this at all.
I did not enjoy her class but did well. Be sure to do ALL extra resources posted on elc because I found her actual class time to be a waste of time. Skoolers is unnecessary if you actually use her posted resources. She needs an attitude check and better use of class time.
i did good in this class because of the extra resources that are posted. Her class is a waste of time.
Worse professor to teach a difficult course, take somebody else!
I took this class a year ago, and I'm surprised that she is still teaching this course!! Same material, but a waste of time as usual. Read these reviews to save yourself the trouble.
Save yourself some time and do not take this professor. She makes the course sound so easy when in reality, even taking notes on every single word she says is barely enough to pass her tests. While she does give you extra credit, it doesn't justify her tests being that difficult. My recommendation is to do the extra resources because I got a A.
This professor does not have a good time management or good examples for the test. So your on you own for the rest of the semester! I would not recommend Dr. Farmer.
Really don't understand how this Professor has 3 out of 5 stars still. The worse experience that I had at University of Georgia!
Too much workload.
I barely made A in this course and thats because I learn accounting on my own, and this professor was rude and did not helped when I need it the most.
I didn't think it could get worse after 1101 but Farmer proved me wrong. The material we were taught in class didn't match what we were tested over and the 7 "quiz" format was horrible. Her time management is awful and she took 25mins to talk about something that should've lasted 5. Overall, class was a waste of time and I was always frustrated.
Very poor teaching style. Worst professor I have had in college so far. Be prepared to basically learn on your own.
Hands down the worse professor that I ever had in college. DO NOT TAKE!
Listen to me when i say dont take the chance of taking her even if its your last option. its honestly just better to wait till the next term for someone else!!!
She is simply the worst professor at University of Georgia. I can promise you that. Her time management for the class is useless.
You gotta teach yourself and I barely made any A in this course.
I barely made any A in this course because I have taught myself this course and the professor does not teach the subject at all. I'm switching my major because of her.
I'm glad that I dropped this course because its not worth your time and I haven't learned anything in this course even when I went to her office hour. This lives you teaching the course by yourself.
Not her fault but this was a really hard class. You are just going to have to put in the hours to study, study, study if you are an average Joe like me. This is the worse professor that I have taken so far in college. TAKE SOME ELSE!!!
Dr. Farmer is a great professor, but she does not know how to use her time management and she only talks bout her kids, yoga, and cooking. It basically waste of my time to go to her class.
Theres not much to say about her, but read these reviews before taking this professor!
Worse accounting professor you can take at UGA. I was afraid to take this class because I heard many of my friends struggling in ACCT 2102. I wished I listen to them because this professor does not care at all.
she sucks
She's the worse professor at this university
Do not take this professor, if your not willing to teach yourself the course!
She really takes off points from your project if you email her wow, also refused to check email during finals week.
Does not reply back to emails, no time management, and can't even teach the course. Worse professor at this university.
Professor Farmer told us not to email her during finals week, and that if we have a problem with our project grade and we ask her about it and she agrees with the points taken off, she will take off additional points. She also posted a students email publicly about their criticisms of her. Most unprofessional and petty teacher I have ever had.
I knew it from the get go that this professor was going to be bad!
I had Amanda Farmer for ACCT 1160 which is supposed to be an easier accounting class for business minors. She made this class extremely difficult, gets distracted talking about her life, speeds through the lectures and skips steps, and tells her students not to contact her during finals week. She doesn't care about her students and should NOT TEACH
I took ACCT 1160 with Farmer, which is supposed to be the "easier" ACCT class for intended business minors, and I ended up dropping the class and changing my minor halfway through the semester. Quizzes were ridiculously hard and counted for 50% of your grade. Gets easily distracted and encourages students not to contact her. Very unprofessional.
How does she even have 3 out of % star rating ? I would of given her a 0 rating because this professor takes points off your final grade for emailing her about the project during exam week.
You can tell she puts in a lot of work, but that's no excuse for her to be petty and unprofessional, like telling us not to email her, or threatening to take off points if we ask questions about our grade. Lectures go too fast and are unhelpful. Use the videos and problems on ELC. This course isn't impossible, but you will have to teach yourself.
I honestly can say that this class has been one of the most difficult I have had so far. 50% of your grade is based on quizzes that are somewhat related to the practice problems during class. Even though I am an Accounting major, I do not believe this class helped me learn as much as I should compared to my Accounting 1 class.
She's terrible
I recently became a Accounting major because I enjoy taking accounting 2101, but when I transferred to UGA in the fall and had to take Accounting 2102. This professor made me change my major because of how bad she really is at teaching.
I managed to get any A in this course because of doing extra practice and spending numerous hours studying, but this professor is the worse because I emailed her about the project and she took couple points off my final grade. Luckily I still have any A in this course.
Its so bad I wanna give you a zero, but thats not possible, so I give you a one.
How does this professor still have her job? She doesn't even teach the material.
If you work for it, you CAN succeed. No guarantee. You'll find yourself going into the quizzes without fully having learned the content in lecture b/c she can get side tracked very easily, or her explanations were too confusing. Your best option is to repeatedly solve the practice problems. Extra credit is huge; show up to class and check ELC.
Do not take this course if you don't practice on your own.
this class is awful. don't even bother showing up to class because she talks about her kids and cooking the whole time and goes over maybe 1 practice problem for each chapter then pulls hard problems out this air for the quizzes. she is not helpful in office hours and gets mad when you email her. the 7 quizzes are awful. changed my major after this
I will say that I disagree with the comments saying that she talks about her personal life too much because that is not why we would run out of time in class. It's because she would just take a really long time lecturing things that shouldn't take long. This class was definitely frustrating and it felt like she didn't respect us as students.
Amanda Farmer is not an awful professor by any means. There were classes that she did get carried away, and you definitely have to spend hours outside of class to practice and study to do well. Definitely the hardest class I have taken, and sometimes she makes it unnecessarily hard. Overall however, she is not the worst professor I have had.
Prof. Farmer is a solid professor despite what the reviews on here say. Accounting is naturally a difficult subject and I think she gave us all the resources we needed and more to help us understand the content. My only critique is that the information is kinda presented in a chaotic manner, and I found myself not knowing what to study at times.
farmerbad. She only teaches one or sometimes 2 type of calculation problems per concept in class, but expects you to know conceptual and other types of calculations. she assumes you know accounting as well as she does and is not good at visual aids, cause everything is handwritten and messy on her document camera, which makes note taking very hard
Prof. Farmer doesn't know how to manage time and doesn't teach the material effectively. The exams are difficult and the questions are rarely covered in class. She wastes time talking about irrelevant information and doesn't explain concepts well. Since this class is required, I would recommend to do all the practice and get tutoring if you need.
One of the most frustrating professors Ive ever had. Doesnt seem to respect the students. Makes somewhat demeaning comments. Cannot fit material into lectures. Doesnt cover exam material in class. Would not recommend if you dont have to, but seeing as this is a terry Rec, bless your soul.
There is a reason why all the reviews say the same things - they are true. She is enthusiastic, but has terrible use of class time and does not explain things clearly. During finals week and after, tells us to "respect her time" and not email her. I'm sorry but that's just ridiculous. Complete disregard for students and her job.
This is a hard class. I understand why there are so many similar reviews. Her material is disorganized and she seems to always run out of time in class. This class is required for Terry and she's the only prof. Do the practice problems and watch her videos. Those are your best bets for preparing for the "module quizzes".
Shes enthusiastic but cannot budget time correctly for teaching material. My grade was saved by doing every extra credit opportunity. She tells students not to contact her and to respect her time however that is often not an option. Her lack of availability and accountability made for an incredibly miserable semester.
Prof. Farmer is actually a really good teacher despite most of these ratings. I think most students are just shocked by the amount of material and don't like that it may not make sense immediately. I hated accounting 2102 but prof. farmer was the only reason I was successful in this class. Highly recommend her if you are prepared to work a little.
This class is very challenging, but I managed to get an A- after only getting C's and B's on quizzes, which was really nice. There is a lot of extra credit opportunities and the project really helped my grade. However the professor is pretty unorganized and seemed stressed all the time which made me really stressed.
I got an A in this course because of the final project!! There's extra credit, but this professor does not care about you. If I was you, I would take someone else!!
Professor Farmer is an extremely kind person and teacher, however she is not very good at teaching. She makes things over complicated and explains unimportant material. She also talks about her personal life a lot, which is endearing but is wasteful for class time because this often results in us not finishing lectures. Also, lots of homework.
She is an awful teacher so just get Skoolers and you should be fine. I am shocked UGA still has her as a professor. She is by far the most demeaning and unorganized professor I have had at UGA and does not care about her students at all. Don't even bother taking her. If there is ANY other professor, take them.
Prof Farmer somehow made 2102 more difficult to understand than 2101. It felt like her lectures were rushed to try to get topics done but it felt like I wasnt learning anything from class. Also I would recommend to her to get a laser to point on the screen bc there were many times I didnt know where to follow along bc she goes a mile a minute
Professor Farmer is energetic and cares about the material, but she doesn’t use class time effectively. Your time is probably better spent watching her online videos for the slides and practice problems and doing the Skooler’s exam reviews. If you do this from the start of the semester you should do well in her class.
She is terrible at teaching and not nice to students. The whole class experience with her just makes life so much more difficult. Super unprofessional and does not care about your success!
Would not recommend Dr.Farmer for accounting 2102 because she does not know the material to the students!
Someone taking Accounting 2102 at a different university because I promise you that you will get lost in this course!
A. farmer is so good!! i dont know what these other reviews are but she is incredible!
Dr. Farmer is a amazing professor, but she does not know how to teach the material to the class.
I recommend skoolers for this class because you will get lost in Dr. Farmers lectures!
To be honest, I don't know what other student's criteria is for a "good" professor, but disregard those. She was awesome. Truly made me understand my one and only Accounting class (it was an extra elective pre-Grady for me), but for ACCT1102, she was awesome. Super sweet and felt like a distant aunt. Anyone would enjoy her class.
Overall, a nice professor who is smart, but does not know how to teach the material to the class which makes the class tens times harder than usual!
The test can be hard if you do not prepare for it, but Dr. Farmer is a great professor for Accounting! I recommend that she teach the course to the class instead of talking about her children.
W professor. She's very funny and makes class engaging. You do have to put in work on your own to do good in this class. However, as long as you don't act like you're too good to DO WORK, you should do fine. Love my girl amanda!
I have never heard someone talk so much yet say so little. Prof Farmer rambles for most of the class period about stuff thats not even relevant to the problems. She "anticipates" mistakes that could be made and makes them answer choices. She does not want her students to do well. Nice lady but needs to go back to being an accountant.
Professor Farmer is a great accounting professor, but she does not how to teach the material to the class which is a problem. You gotta learn on your own and prepare for her difficult tests!
maybe it's because she changed her teaching format from previous semesters, but I really enjoy her class. it's a lot of material but she posts slides & video recordings of her going over slides and other material. you have to put in a lot of work to get good grades but it's definitely manageable. lots of EC opportunities and she's always available
Dr. Farmer's lectures are pretty engaging, and she is a nice person overall. She sounds like she truly enjoys what she teaches which makes the material come easier. The material itself though is very challenging, but she seems like she truly cares about her students. Definitely go to her office hours, very helpful. Super welcoming personality too!
Amanda Farmer is by far the WORST teacher I have had at UGA. She cannot get through a lesson without going on tangents about her kids, love for peppers, or something completely unrelated to any material. Her mind bounces in a thousand directions and she cannot complete a thought without inserting something random. I would NEVER take her again EVER
I would not recommend Dr.Farmer because she talks about other important materials that do not relate to accounting!
I don't understand how anyone doesn't love this woman. Yes, she goes off on tangents about her kids and dogs, but she is a great teacher and she knows her stuff. She changes the course format like every semester, but we had reading quizzes (easy), then chapter quizzes after learning the material (kinda hard), and 3 exams on zoom but all open note.
I would not recommend Dr. Farmer for accounting 2102 , if you are a accounting major !
Professor Farmer is an amazing person and very personable. Sadly, I just did not gain much from this class. I recommend buying all of Skoolars (that's all I used and never went to class) Going in person to her lectures was a waste of time bc she makes it 10x more difficult and she is hard to follow with her explanations. Sorry Farmer ur still nice!
Farmer is very energetic about the course and you can tell she enjoys teaching it, however the organization of her lectures is very poor and all over the place. It is difficult to take notes in this class and chapter quizzes and exam are very difficult, and it seems she is always running out of time to get through lectures.
I did not like Dr.Farmer, but she is nice its just that her style of teaching is difficult to learn because she is all over the place in her powerpoint's and she runs out of time!
Nice person, however recieved a 70 on the first exam after going to every lecture. After realizing her lectures junst consisted of her writing undecernable numbers on looseleaf, I decided to learn the material on my own. Needless to say I got high As on the last 2 exams. Recommend if you like to hear about her kids shennanigans or vegan cooking.
Overall, I think she means well and you can tell she is very passionate about accounting. This is not an easy class and she doesn't make it any easier in how she teaches it. The exams are long and time consuming. This is one of those classes that you need to do a lot out of class to succeed. She also does not give enough office hours.
Probably should've studied more but the tests are online so just have a Chegg for the quizzes and tests and you should get at least a B-. If you actually take notes and study you'll probably get an A it's not really that hard people just blame her because they are dumb and can't pass a class unless they have study guides.
I would not recommend Dr.Farmer because she only waste her time talking about her kids and cooking. I had to study on my own to get any A which was difficult.
Just graduated, and just wanted to say that 2102 was the most unreasonably hard course I took in undergrad. Farmer made herself as inaccessible as possible, and took pride in very low test averages. I have never seen a professor who wants her students to fail as badly as Farmer. All upper level courses after this were so much better. Still scarred.
I don't understand why everyone hates on her. I found her to be very sweet and considerate to everyone. acct 2 is a hard class to begin with, but she gave a lot of examples in class and online. literally just do the practice and go to office hours and you'll be okay. if anything, I wish she gave us more practice so we could fully grasp the material
Her lectures are hard to follow and she was not nice if you went to office hours. I went a couple of times. She made me feel very dumb. She doesn't want you to email her, and she took a week and a half to grade our last test along with release the rest of the grades so that students did not email her about their grades.
Professor Farmer was a very knowledgeable person, but her lack of time management was frustrating. She cancelled class several times through the semester and had zoom sessions that lasted well over an hour for a 50 min class. The week before every test was pure chaos trying to fit the material in. 3 tests 25% each, HW 10%, quizzes 15% no final
Overall, I enjoyed this course. She is a really nice person, and you can tell that she cares a lot about the subject she is teaching. She is really friendly, but that can sometimes run into class time because she can go on tangents. However, if accounting is your strong suit, it shouldn't affect too much. I did alright because I love the subject.
The main issue with the course does not have to do with her specifically but more of a flaw with the accounting department. The exams issues are weighted so poorly that it is an unfair representation of your knowledge depending on how many questions are answered correctly/incorrectly. Farmer has a tendency to ramble about irrelevant anecdotes.
Make sure to stay on top of material during classes. She is nice and tries to be the most helpful she can be. It is simply a hard class
1000x better than Abigail Quigley.
Words can not describe my frustration and discontent with professor Farmer. She is a very nice lady and has passion for what she teaches, but that's it. She is EXTREMELY disorganized and very bad at time management. Cancels class way TOO much, very lazy. Constantly leaves the class with a fraction of the material ..expects you to compensate for it
Amazing!!!!
You have to work hard, but Farmer gives you the tools you need to be successful.
i love prof farmer. she is knowledgeable and friendly. i truly felt she wanted me to succeed. sometimes the lectures could be a little more efficient. but overall, amazing class.
do the work. stop complaining. if it doesn't help to go to class, then don't. as far as emails and accessibility. she is the only professor who responds to my emails in a timely fashion. i'll say it again. do the work.
She is truly passionate about what she teaches but her teaching style isn't for everyone. Most of her lectures include her doing problems in class & they can be hard to follow. Her tests are extremely complex & you must know the material like the back of your hand! Don't expect this class to be simple unless you're very knowledgable about ACCT.
Worst ever. Annoying too
Professor Farmer is a great person who truly cares about you and wants to make sure you're not extremely stressed about the course. That being said, if you rely on professors/lectures to teach you the material, Farmer is not for you. Almost all of course material has to be learned on your own time, as her lectures are quite confusing.
Annoying, hard to follow, class is impossible without skoolers.
Farmer is enthusiastic about teaching this class and has a lot of energy. However, she makes this class way harder than it needs to be by overcomplicating test questions. The questions are mind-numbing to read and answer with important details hidden so you need to pay close attention.
It was a tough class. She easily got off topic and zoomed through material. It feels very unorganized. Be prepared to teach yourself everything.
Do yourself a favor and take someone else.
Farmer overcomplicates every one of her lectures. It makes it impossible to understand a simple idea.
i would say shes more of an actress. she loves to put on performances in class. enough said
I loved Professor Farmer. She is insanely nice and wants the best for her students. She offers tons of extra credit and is always willing to help. A lot of people complain about the difficulty of the content, but if you take advantage of the resources she gives you, you will likely get an A in the class. Most people are just too lazy for the work.
Take anyone else! Had friends who took other professors & understood material better because of it. We were always a chapter behind, she got off topic at the beginning of every class, and her responses to online discussions were passive-aggressive and ineffective. She explains things like you already know the info rather than explaining basics.
Professor Farmer does not care about her students' success and prides herself on low test averages. She canceled class all the time but required attendance, and was hard to access to understand what was going on. Her lectures consist half the time of talking about her life meaninglessly rather than teaching. Would not recommend.
honestly, a great woman but terrible professor. She cares about students to an extent, but her lectures are SO hard to pay attention to and actually gain something from. I promise you the majority of classes I walked out not knowing anything that was going on and I had to teach myself the material the week of the test.
Dr. Farmer knows Accounting well. She gives extra credit. However, the class during this fall was a mess. She repeatedly canceled class, focused on 1 practice problem for the entirety of lecture, and decided that the solution to the testing system was making the third exam in-person and closed note (you need notes on exams to do well in this class)
I think Farmer did a good job teaching the concepts. The class is graded test-heavy but attendance, reading quizzes, and chapter quizzes will buffer your grade.
Lectures were mandatory but I barely gained anything from going besides when she would say "this will be on exam". If you watch her videos and do EVERY practice problem then you will be fine. The practice problems were just like the exams and I know if I didn't do them then I wouldn't have made it through this class. Practice, Practice, Practice!
Professor farmer was a very frustrating instructor. She often went off on tangents and wasted a lot of precious lecture time talking about her dog and children. She canceled class too much and always left us having to teach ourselves the material. She is very passionate and nice, I just wish she cared more about the success of her students.
One of my favorite professors this semester. So kind, caring, and enthusiastic about her work. She puts in a lot of effort, time, and energy for her classes and knows so many of her students personally. Such a vibrant professor doing her best to teach difficult subject matter!!
ACCT2102 is hard in general, but Dr. Farmer's material was all very well organized and she makes herself available if you go out and seek her. The exams were brutal, but thats just an accounting thing in general. But if you can take her over any other professor you should. She cares about her students and is always asking for live feedback. 10/10
She's a great person but it is hard to learn in her class. She'll jump back and forth with the material so it can be hard to pay attention. Most of my learning was done outside of her class in a study group.
Farmer is passionate and kind! However, I do feel like i had to teach a good bit of it to myself because she always ran out of time in class. The material isn't terribly difficult but i think she could have done better with time management. I dont know what the other professors are like but she is still a good choice for 2102!
Professor Farmer really tried to make the class fair this semester but she changed it up mid semester which was annoying. We had open book tests but then the last test it changed. I had to get the Skoolers to learn the materials because she only taught so much in class. Good luck from here on our cuz its probably gonna be closed notes.
I really liked Farmer. She was always interesting and telling fun stories. Taught in an engaging way so you never really lost focus in the class. I had skoolers but didn't really need it much because I liked her way of solving the questions than the skoolers way. We did a personal future budget project that was super helpful
Worst UGA professor at Terry!
Do not take this accounting professor, she does not explain the material properly!!
Least favorite teacher/class I've had at UGA.
The exams are difficult. The class average for the first one was failing. All questions on the exams are multiple choice so there is no partial credit for even calculation based questions. The answer choices are also made to purposely mislead you. It's not an enjoyable class. She is super friendly but I wish I had gone with a different professor.
Dr. Farmer goes over course material too quickly although she does make herself available after class. She does not provide curves regardless of exam averages with our first one having an average in the 60s. The test material is very difficult and the step ups from work to quizzes to test are very large.
Professor Farmer is a very nice lady and a passionate teacher but she makes this class just too hard overall. The only reason I passed was getting the skoolerz packets and using them to prepare for the test. I really wanted to leave a good review but I just can't. I'm glad this class is over.
Take any other professor available for accounting 2. This class was almost impossible. Tests were insanely hard and I just could not learn from the way she taught in class. The average for the first test was a 60 percent with no curve if that clears up what kind of professor she is.
Hand down the worst prof choice for 2102. Denied there being a curve after the first test so 25% of her students dropped(class average 60%). Shoutout to Professor Hugie for actually telling us what was going on and assuring her class that she would curve grades at the end of the semester(only 5% of her students dropped).
Extremely difficult class, Professor Farmer teaches at an exceptionally fast pace and assumes everyone is following along and understanding the material. All exams are in person with the first exam having an average that was practically failing. I truly wish I had gone with a different professor as this class was very hard to be successful in.
I'm really torn because she is very nice and means well. But even if you read other reviews and decide to take different professor, she is still the one writing the exams. Skoolers is necessary for this class which tells you just how hard it is. Good luck and may God have mercy on your soul.
Get skoolers for this class, because this professor should not be teaching accounting!!
Take Dr.Hugie than Dr. Farmer because this professor does not actually teach and asumes that everyone cheats in her class. The WORST PROFESSOR @ UGA!!
She is not good at breaking down complex concepts. Commonly unavailable/inaccessible in office hours. Given out assignments last minute and doesn't ensure there's practice for exam's. 70 % of the grade is based on exams and she grades them VERY HARD! There is no curve that is given, but their is extra credit. She may can teach Financial Accounting.
I am not sure why she has so many negative reviews... but I love this professor. As a person, she is incredibly kind and interested in what you have to say. Accounting is a tough class and there is really no other way to get an A than by studying very very hard and spending a lot of time on this subject. She gives weekly extra credit as well.
Not a good professor
Not a great professor!!
Going into my senior year, Professor Farmer is definitely among my top 3 favorite teachers at UGA. It is obvious that she is passionate about teaching and cares about her students, and is understanding if you have any personal issues. She gave us a rough schedule on how we should split up the classwork per day which I found extremely helpful.
I would not recommend taking Dr.Farmer for accounting 2102!
Quite possibly the worst professor at UGA. Makes tests and quizzes impossible and does not teach well.
Worse professor in the accounting department
One of the worse professors at Terry, she did not care for the class or any students. Be prepared to work hard!
Very unprofessional in her lecture style and instruction. Don't bother asking her for help on hw or exams directly, she's really condescending if you don't understand something. Ask the TAs instead, they're much more helpful.
Difficult tests for no reason, no extra credit, no rounding
I came into the semester expecting it to be super stressful and difficult after reading thru most of the reviews but was SO pleasantly surprised. She is so bubbly and cares that all her student actually understand the material before moving on. Provides a lot of resources and practice online to ensure everyone can be successful.
Amazing professor, Farmer is way over-hated. The class is extremely easy when taught by her
No idea why there are bad reviews because Farmer is one of the best Professors I have had at UGA. She is extremely caring and does everything she can to boost grades. Bonus points, quiz redos. She posts a ton of practice so if you do them the test will be easy. Super bubbly and caring personality and makes class enjoyable. Would 100% take again.
Honestly you just get what you put into this class. It was difficult, but his lectures are good if you are attentive and take thorough notes. I definitely studied for this class more than any other class.
Amanda Farmer is a great teacher. If you work hard in this class you are guaranteed a good grade, for me this was easier than acct 1. She post a ton of practice work for test along with videos to supplement the harder equations. I got an A on the first two test from using this practice, work hard and you have nothing to worry about.
I went to classes daily, not missing a single one and did all the homework and quizzes with an A+ average. studied. Scraping to get a C- because despite having As on literally everything- the tests count for 70% of the grades. there are no curves. Tests are made to be impossible with many "which one is NOT" correct calculation problems. Awful
she is leaving this year but I really liked her
Accounting is a difficult course but if you use the material she gives you and practice a good amount, then you will do pretty well. The practice questions she posts are very useful as are the videos she posts doing practice problems.
She had a complete turn around from spring to fall because she literally was so good in fall. She made it SO easy to do well because she went to some seminar over the summer about active learning. Still a hard class but she gave tons of extra credit and stuff. Pretty sure she's leaving though rip
Professor Farmer made this tough class surprisingly manageable. With the extensive practice materials and videos she provides, as well as tools like unstuckstudy ai, I was able to excel. Definitely recommend this class!
I'm reviewing this class in retrospect. I thought I was just bad at it, but it turns out Farmer just wasn't a great professor. I've taken Cost Accounting (the upper lvl ver of this class) with a diff prof and did better with the same material. Amazing person, just can't teach you the content well. Please take another professor (Steiner/Thoms)
