Great teacher! I would say that she is a hard teacher, but I think it has more to do with the subject matter. She likes to repeat chemistry rules again and again to help the students better remember them. She creates mock exams that any student can use to help study for the exams. Homework can sometimes take a really long time to finish.

This teacher is pretty cool. I wish I had taken both lab && lecture with her. My lecture teacher sucked && she was kind enough to help me a couple of times. I learned a lot more from her reviews prior to our lab than I did from my lecture. I would definitely take this class with her again.

Fusco really knows what she is doing and she is very helpful. Lectures are interesting and you actually learn. She makes it easier for her students to understand, she really cares and wants you to pass.

Had her for both Lecture and Lab. Glad I did! I know in talking to other students in lab who don't have her, they wish they did. Extremely thorough, makes sure that we understand the material. Explains things in different ways for different learners. Gives TONS of examples for practice. Sad she is not teaching the next level chem next semester.

She definitely knows her stuff and is easy to understand when she explains difficult concepts. She is very attentive to her students and I never seen her turn anyone away that was having difficulty! Attendance is important because the concepts build on one another and it's not easy once you fall behind. I always leave class happier and smarter!

Dr. Fusco was an amazing teacher to have for lab, I just wish that I had her for lecture too. I learned more in the lab than the lecture. Very nice person and makes herself available to help students. Breaks down ideas and concepts and goes over them to ensure everyone understands. Sad she's not teaching my next chem lecturelab.

Being that I have never taken a Chemistry class in my life I was really nervous. Dr. Fusco provides study guides for tests, which were a huge help. The lectures were clear and understandable plus she is always smiling while teaching. Her tests were challenging but not super hard. During office hours she was available and very helpful.

She is a nice teacher, it is an easy class. Do the homework, take the 4 test and 4 quizzes, dropped one of each at the end of the semester. Professor Fusco is genuinely a good professor. She is so intelligent and so passionate about chemistry. Her grading criteria is really straight forward which I loved about her class. Very well structured, you NEVER had to worry about not knowing how you were doing in the class. 4 exams (drops one), 4 quizzes, (drops one), 1 final exam, BB hw.

She's very helpful and frequently checks to make sure that everyone understands the content before moving on. Quizzes and exams are all scheduled beforehand , but she may push them back if people are struggling. Also, her quizzes and exams are written specifically for the content that she thinks the class is generally comfortable with.

Professor Fusco breaks it down for you for sure. Some found it tedious but I really appreciated it. If you pay attention in class and do the homework her exams and quizzes are what you covered.

Wonderful professor who really knows what she's talking about. I only had her for lab but would for sure take her classes again. She always has a smile on her face and try's to explain the subject in a positive, simple, slow manner most students hate. Kudos to her! Most professors could learn a lot from her.

I would definitely take her again and am sad she isn't teaching Chem200 this semester. She's definitely really helpful and easy grade if you just do the work. I've had some scary Chem professors before but she definitely isn't one of them!

Great teacher! The subject is tough, but she was able to teach the subject with relative ease. Sometimes she does math errors in her in class examples. Lecture is all powerpoint, but attendance is a must!

Professor Fusco is super nice, friendly, and understanding. She let me make up a test after I caught the stomach flu. Her tests are a bit tricky, but reading and doing the homework is the KEY to ACING her class. Her lecture slides are helpful too, but don't rely on them 100.00%. DON'T EXPECT AN A FROM JUST BEING THERE. YOU ACTUALLY NEED TO WORK!!!!

She has blackboard, and you probably wont need the book due to her powerpoint (Chem160). She expects you to learn the material and her test have a lot of short answer questions. I definitely learned so much from taking her, i'd take her again. She goes by the syllabus too so that's good. You'll get a test back in about a week. Overall great teacheR

She has a PowerPoint for every single lecture and her tests are based off the PowerPoint. About 80% of the test is off the lectures and the final is an easy thing if you went to class. Homework is a must. If you can do the homework, the test will be easy.

Suggest recording her lectures, its a lot of info and listening to them again helps. Visit her office hours, she is very thorough when answering questions. She posts everything on blackboard (grades, hw, powerpoints). If she is presenting in a talk session, GO! she is a genius lol overall, great teacher. Definitely learned so much from her!!

Awesome professor! She is very nice, approachable, helpful and clear. Chemistry is conceptually difficult subject to grasp for many. She is very talented at helping students who struggle with it. If you do you part in reading the lab ahead of time, completing the pre-lab and post-lab, and take her up on the time she gives to help, you can get an A.

I had bad memory of chemistry in high school. I was really scared and I thought that I am really bad at chemistry. I took Dr Hernandez without reading any reviews as I didn't find her. She is really cool chill professor. We had 4 exams and 4 quizzes. She drop the lowest grade of each. Lectures are prepared and nothing off topic. I recommend her.

She explains every lab and show everyone that what should we do on every step. She is really helpful and she does care about students. You need to attend every lab. Not only its fun but it can build up points. our lab was 3 hours but we usually finish an hour early. I would take her again and again ...... She is the best.

She is kind and patient with all her students. Her lectures are clear and she answers all questions as clear as day. Labs are clear also and she does not get mad, it seems, when people mess up, as long as they understand how it affects the results (must be explained in final lab). Not being in school for more than 4 years, I was worried about taking Chemistry. She makes the subject extremely understandable if you pay attention in class. She does not lecture at a fast pace so it's easy to take notes of everything. Homework is done online, so it's up to you to follow the schedule. Take the practice quizzes and exams! Get an A!

This is a very challenging class, but passing is achievable. Prof Hernandez is always willing to help and makes chemistry really fun and interesting. The grade consists of homework, tests and quizzes and she drops the lowest of each. Definitely the best chemistry teacher to take. She offers extra credit too.

By far the BEST teacher I've ever had. She truly knows how to teach. For those who struggle with chemistry, she explains in a simplistic manner that everyone can comprehend. By far the sweetest Professor at Mesa, I mean her sweetness can give you diabetes. Her class is easy and straight forward, she has the patient of going over the material until you understand, and she is very caring, an easy grader. Fusco is one of the nicest and down to earth professors I have ever had can't recommend her enough for both Lab and Lecture. I barely had to reference the textbook since she explained everything so well. Light hw online every week for lecture and the usual lab reports and prelab write-ups for the lab. She lets you drop one of everything in both.

Excellent teacher! I took this class (160- Biochemistry), after finishing my BS degree as it was a requirement to apply for the masters program I was trying to get into. By the end of the semester, I had decided to change my major to biochemistry. Awesome class, not super time consuming and very interesting!

Professor Fusco-Hernandez does a great job of explaining the concepts of chemistry. She breaks them down in a way that novices can easily understand. She is a very sincere and wants all of her students to succeed. I highly recommend Professor Fusco-Hernandez.

Greatest chemistry teacher I've ever had. Amanda was clearly meant to be a teacher as she can translate and convey the most difficult information to the most basic level. this prof is so caring. she has so much patience, all she wants is for you to get an A. shes always making time for her students. this class is a bit difficult but take advantage & meet her for office hours. "does this make sense everybody" youll catch that saying about 5 times every lecture. with this sweet voice. so caring. take her or fremland!

Her labs were fun for the most part. She always made sure everyone knew what was going on before evry lab, and explained the entire procedure so no one was lost. She does require pretty in depth pre-labs, but it just helps you understand the process of the lab better, so in the long run it helps with the quality of your lab results.

Prof. Fusco Hernandez is an amazing teacher. She covers everything in terms that are easy to understand, and will not move on until she is confident that everyone is caught up. Her tests are pretty much based on what is covered in class, so I never needed the textbook. She is honestly just a good person and is always willing to help if you need it

I'm still currently in the class but over all I think she's a phenomenal professor. She doesn't collect homework so it's purely quizzes and exams. Don't worry though she posts examples of both on blackboard and they are extremely similar to the actual ones. In lab the grade is based solely off of labs so be sure to do well on them.

She does an excellent job of explaining the material. She drops your lowest test and quiz grade. She has pervious tests and quizzes on blackboard so you can practice for the upcoming ones that are similar to the past ones. Her power points are very informative and can be found on blackboard for reference. I highly recommend her! :)

She might be one of my favorite professors. She has great lectures, always answers questions to the fullest, is available outside of class, always prepared, and really does whatever she can to help you succeed. This is my second time taking her and if I could continue taking the chem sequence with her, or any other class for that matter, I would.

The most detailed yet clear teacher I've ever had. If you take notes in her lectures and do the homework it's an easy A because she explains exactly how to do the work right. She helps her students avoid common and confusing mistakes. Even if you didn't follow something during class the powerpoints will save your life due to how detailed they are.

Online class and such an easy A if you pay attention. She posts practice tests that are EXACTLY like the real test. Her online lectures are very brief and not confusing with good visuals and examples.

Cannot recommend her enough. Do whatever you can to take her. She is very clear and concise. She breaks the material down in a way that even I, someone who cant grasp algebra, can understand. If you cant take her lecture, take her lab, she tries to make up for what other professors lacking, if you cant get those, booster course chem 16 fridays

Chem was a very tough subject but this Professor will provide you an excellent education. She truly cares about her students and is very gentle in her approach to teaching. Amazing personality. Must take her because you'll really learn chemistry and she'll take her time to walk you through it. She is a sweet person and I miss her classes!

If you can, take her! The class isn't easy but she gives you the tools to succeed. When we had to quarantine and switch online, she did not miss a beat and was always there to help through email or Zoom. Would definitely recommend!

I took her in Fall 2019 and it was probably the best class I've taken here. She made chemistry much easier to understand. Was helpful and offered an optional 0.5 unit course that gave us extra help and practice. These recent reviews are very surprising and I'm wondering if it's because of a difficult time transitioning to an online course.

If you have a chance to take Chem this semester TAKE HER! Her class fills up easily because she is very devoted to teaching especially during an online class. Her exams are straight to the point, study the review and you will be able to pass. She is also accessible after class and her labs are good too.

She is a tough professor BUT she will prepare you for your future chem classes! She cares about her students (we had a lot of cry babies in class thus neg revs)! She expects you to watch the lectures she recorded before coming to zoom meetings, if you read the book, do all your assignments, and think outside of the box on her exams you'll get an A.

She is a great professor and she is very understanding. She considers an A from 100-88 which is great but that's because the test are 75% of your grade, but she drops lowest quiz and test score and if you do well on the test and like your grade you don't have to take the final. Only down side was there was only meetings once a week.

This professor does not teach well and mostly uses YouTube until exam 4. I highly recommend using Tyler Dewitt and Melissa maribel from YouTube. They are literally the reason I had an A in chemistry. Especially Melissa she will teach you tips and tricks to make chemistry less intimidating. I had no prior chemistry going into 152. 5exams one drops.

Lecture: The homework for me at least was generally easy except for a few cases. The tests and quizzes are tightly timed but if you understand the material through practice, you can pull through easily. TAKE NOTES. Lab: Easy labs that take less than a day to do(you are given a week per), weekly lectures on the labs. It was a free A for me at least

Excellent educator. Wants her students to succeed but makes you work for it. Students complained that she did not teach, but she made it clear that it was an asynchronous class. What I did to be successful: watched all lectures 2-3 times, and most importantly practiced problems over and over because exams are tightly timed and you work fast.

Students complaining did not put enough time into the course. She gives you all the tools to succeed. Go through her modules before coming to class, prepare for the quizzes because they are still a good chunk of your grade, and on exams go through the short answer problems first and quickly before the MC. People run out of time trying to do MC 1st.

Cannot wait to take her class this fall for the next step of Chem 200! I took her class during Covid times and yes everything was recorded, but I learned so much and actually enjoyed Chemisty.

One of the greatest chem professors I've had. She's so friendly and helpful. Her lectures are talk-heavy and her class is tough, but she knows her stuff and makes things super easy to learn. You just have to earn your grade. I feel like she's a better teacher in person so if you've been holding off taking her classes, do take her now!

Professor Hernandez was the key reason for me passing the 152 lecture. I didn't have her for lecture, but her Lab was taught so well and clear that it made the Introduction to Chemistry better. She teaches with elegance and consistently stops to make sure the class is on the same page. Her overall style of teaching is highly recommended.

Had a hybrid class. In class Amanda would go over the harder parts of the chapter. She teaches well and gives so many examples. Her review guides for the exams are helpful and she's available before and after class if you have questions. Final is optional and drops the lowest exam

Chem 20, summer '22: online, no meetings, didn't hate/love. Really easy to stay on top of, and even ahead of, work. Provides ppts and videos for each unit/chapter and assigns quizzes at the end to ensure you know the material (pass or fail, C minimum on each to pass the class). Holds weekly + optional review sessions, didn't go to any of them.

Amanda is a great professor. I took her for the summer course of Chem 152 lecture. She's concise and to the point. She provides a module to prepare for each exam and the final exam was fully MCQ. 90% of your grade relies on tests and the other 10% on homework. I'm taking her Chem 200 lecture so I definitely recommend her.

I have taken chem 152 and chem 200 with Professor Hernandez, honestly if you want to learn chemistry and do it successfully take her! She has 5 exams (1 is the final) and the lowest exam drops. 4 quizzes (1 drops) and homework. Do her practice exams! The first test is basically the final for chem 152. She gives you all the formulas on tests as well

Prof Hernandez is amazing! She gives you all you need to succeed. The practice tests are super similar to the exams, and she gives you study guides, so take advantage of those. She is heavily available outside of class for study jams and office hours. She has amazing lectures and tells you exactly what you need to know. Prepares you for Chem 201!

Professor Hernandez is amazing!! She teaches so well and her lectures are easy to understand. She is very caring and understanding so if you have anything going on and can't turn in homework or can't attend class just let her know. Her homework and study guides are just like her exams which was so great.

Professor Amanda is the best I have ever had in my entire life, and I already have a degree in something else. She is so sweet, amazing lecturer, makes everything easy. Getting an A is super easy and you learn a lot. I wish she taught chem 201 too. She is just a perfect professor. Take her!!!!

Proffesor Hernandez is the best Proffesor I have had at Mesa. She is such a good lecturer. I've heard Chem 200 is difficult but taking her class made it much more understandable. She provides study guides and old tests to help you prepare for an exam. She has flexible office hours as well. I took her for Chem 150 and 200 and would 100% take again!

Prof. Hernandez is my favorite professor after three years of school. She is so nice and caring and her style of teaching was what really set her apart from others. She actually wants you to understand the material instead of blowing right through it. Some might not like that because it can be slow at times but for me, it was relieving!

Amazing professor! Chemistry was so difficult for me to understand, but she explained everything very clearly. Lectures would mainly include topics from the textbook that were a bit more confusing. Homework's are a big help! Study guides look exactly like the exams tbh.

Prof. Hernandez had very helpful lectures. There was a textbook that we were told to buy but I got along without it. We were always told what to expect on exams and were given help if needed.

I took her fall 22 for chem 152 and 152L. I must say her class gave me lots of actual skill. I now attend UCSD, I still use what I learned in her class for basic chemistry problems. Especially helpful for the Mcat prep. She also made the Stem study jam. She is good at teaching chemistry thats for sure. Definitely reccomend her.

Great at her job, we moved at a pace so that we were never behind on material (like in a lot of math classes) but she still always took the time to clearly explain everything. She's super approachable, the homework was relevant, and she drops your lowest test score at the end of the semester.

I 100% recommend Amanda for anyone taking chem. She's the sweetest person and always there if you need any help. Her exams were fairly easy as long as you made sure to study but she provides study guides which are very useful. For labs I recommend to go into detail on the lab questions. Drops lowest lab and drops lowest exam (including final).

She hella chill, answers questions and takes time during lectures to make sure to help with anyone confused, teaches the subject well and a fair grader. Exam basically every 2 weeks, homework every 1-2 weeks, just make sure to actually pay attention and take notes. Class is kinda exam heavy but the exams aren't too difficult, just study up

One homework and classwork per week. Four exams over course which includes 3 modules so the material is never too much. No trick questions either. Never has gone off topic in lecture, always keeps the material relevant. You can tell she is extremely organized. The way she teaches topics allows for the easiest understanding. Recommend to everyone!

I failed high school chemistry but Professor Amanda is the reason I choose to continue. She's sweet and understanding. I had her for both 152L and lecture, she really takes her time to make sure everyone understands the material before moving forward. The tests are super easy, the homework and class work will prepare you for the test.

Probably the best Chemistry professor at Mesa college. She makes her class so easy to learn and apply things. She never made us memorize anything unnecessary and is super nice about everything. She literally makes it impossible to fail. Show up to class, study for exams and quizzes and you WILL pass. I've understood concepts super well cuz of her.

She is an amazing professor but I advise to be prepared for the lecture as she breezes through them. She does encourage to asks questions. Always available and will break anything down if you are confused.

She is very nice and a great teacher. She goes through everything step by step and drops the lowest test grade. In my first semester at Mesa, I took a terrible professor, which made me absolutely HATE chemistry. So I was a bit skeptical and worried about taking chemistry again, but professor Hernandez made me enjoy chemistry. She is super patient and explains the material in a very clear manner. BTW! Beware, there's ALOT of math, but its overall fun.

i have not her chem 20 online class which is 152 , i will not ever understand the meaning of chem, the other professor which i should have to go Arooran Rajah 152 chem, was horrible , i wanna thank professor Amanda Fusco , very beautiful lectures, nice method , and quite good explaining on slides , best

Dr. Fusco is great at explaining steps and calculations in lab. She is always willing to help with further clarification, lab safety, and post-lab questions. She is a bit strict with grading, so I recommend holding onto the copy of the syllabus she hands out to use as a guide. You need to get pre-lab and every page of work done in lab signed off.

Honestly this professor is really nice and explains chemistry very well! I completely understand the concepts that we are learning in the class. However, she is strict with grading and takes points off for the smallest mistakes. Exams are worth 90%, HW 10%, lowest exam gets dropped as well as the lowest hw grade.

Love her she is the sweetest!!! Never makes you feel dumb for asking questions in fact she encourages students to ask if they don't understand smth. Chem is not easy but she is so good with explaining and is such an organized person.

She only does exams and quizzes, so I'd say if you don't thrive with exams like I do, I'd skip her. She lowkey gives you the exam practically with all the things she tells you what to study. Dr. Amanda gives the best lectures ive ever had! I wish she taught 201! she went through a lot in her life when I had her and she never failed to still show up in a great mood, laughing, giving great lectures. you can tell this job is a tob priority in her life. graded on quizzes and tests only. gives lots of partial credit on written tests.

Dr. Fusco was great. I came in expecting to do poorly but passed with an A+. The class is very exam heavy, 80% of grades are exams, 20% are quizes. She drops 1 lowest quiz & test. Hw is optional. Your final grade is mostly based on the exams (80%), but Dr. Fusco provides helpful resources and practice exercises to help you succeed in the class. She gives a fair amount of partial credit on open questions.
