She is super sweet and is always prepared for class. The subject may be hard, but im glad I had her to help me through it
She is understanding and willing to work with students when it comes to late work. Some of the material is difficult but she always answered any questions I had. Great professor!
Amanda is the sweetest professor I've had in my 3 years of college. She is extremely patient with students & always has her lessons prepared when class starts. She tries to help as much as possible & gives a lot of chances to make up points. She gives many examples to help understand. Great teacher for a tough subject. Take her if you can!
Great teacher
Great professor! She is very approachable and patient with students. Chemistry is really difficult and not one of my strong subjects, but she tried her best to help us learn and understand the concepts. She does lot of good examples on the board. She is also very fair in grading. Going to class, esp chem, didn't feel like a burden because of her.
I THINK SHE IS VERY NICE AND HELPS U AS MUCH AS U NEED WILLING TO GIVE HER TIME TO OTHERS =) STILL IN HER CLASS =)
She is really nice as a person, but not so great as a teacher. Her notes were really confusing and her power points were really boring. If I wasn't getting help by the person sitting next to me explaining what she was teaching, then I probably would've failed the class.
Best teacher I've ever had!! She is really nice and very patient. She is very clear with what she wants. I wish she taught higher level Chemistry.
She is super nice but when she teaches the class gets beyond confusing. Her tests are mostly fill in the blank or short answer. She grades extremely nice. There are questions on the test about in class examples.A considerate amount of work like worksheets (not considered homework), homework, quizzes and the major tests.
Such a great Professor! Very nice lady, explains concepts VERY clearly! Honestly wish I could take all of my chem classes with her. Will take time to answer questions/go over hw. TAKE HER! **Heckler in class took advantage of her niceness and was super rude to her, Hudson stayed calm while continuing with class. Very smart and classy lady!!
Professor Hudson is top notch. Some of the concepts are hard to understand, however, she is always willing to help. Good class.
Great Professor with a difficult course. She can easily explain the topics but its very difficult to apply them come test time. 4 major exams, 1 project, a half letter grade extra credit option. Loved the instructor not to fond of the chemistry. Oh and most importantly, VERY LENIENT GRADER.
very moody, would not help you at all. You ask her a question and it s an inconvenience to her
Very knowledgable professor with many opportunities for extra credit. Provides partial credit on exams and lenient on grading. Definitely recommended...
Amanda is great! I was really concerned about taking Chemistry because I haven't had a Chem class since high school 15 years ago! But, she made it fun and interesting and presented the information in a way that was easy for non-science people like me to understand. I had her for lab too, and she made that fun as well. I definitely recommend her!
She is a very good professor that makes chemistry concepts easy to understand. She gives plenty of examples and ensures that students are not having trouble with the material. There are no surprises, and everything you need to know is gone over in class and reviewed in the homework. She made chemistry extremely fun and very easy to understand.
Professor Hudson loves Chemistry and it shows in the way she teaches this class. Material was hard for those of us that hadn't been in school for awhile and easy for the high school kids. She teaches to all of our levels though and gives plenty of examples of each formula, concept, etc. Very nice grader if you show effort. Extra credit offered!
She's a very good teacher and is very clear overall. She is helpful as long as you try. Try to take the Atomic Testing Site Trip for 105. The class is extremely easy if you have taken chemistry before. Textbook not really needed.
Ok teacher, quizes are very tricky and not easy at all, but exams are easy. Just make sure you study at home, from the book and get a tutor. She is overall nice for a chem teacher.
Easy grader. Only took half points off if I did the problem right but got the wrong answer. Easy to understand and willing to answer any questions and work out problems if you have questions. Provides study guides, practice tests, as well as the lecture powerpoints. Made this class a lot more fun for me than I was expecting! I would take her again.
Professor Hudson makes learning chemistry sort of easy. She really does break the math down and the concepts. Chem is a hard enough subject. She is a lenient grader as long as you try. Would definitely recommend taking her if you need to take any chemistry.
If you have a job, don't take her class, she does not care at all about the fact that some of us actually work. Super boring lectures, half the class sleeps. Not at all helpful. Stay away from this one.
Used the textbook once or twice, but she doesn't care if it is an old edition. Bought one used for $20 and was fine. Provides all the lecture slides online, study guides, practice tests, and extra credit options too. 3 exams, 1 final, quizzes throughout semester, various easy projects as well. VERY EASY GRADER onlyhalf points taken off most answers
Dr. Hudson is a very knowledgeable and helpful professor who I highly recommend. Provides multiple ways to earn extra credit points and grades using partial credit on lengthy test problems.
She is a good professor. Nice, clear and helpful. She is an easy grader and we can use our notes on the final. Easy class as long as you follow directions.
She loves to give tricky exams and quizes. She does not cover enogh the topics so students can do better on exams. I don not think she is very clear when doing things in the board, she miss labeling important things and then people is like " where she got the from". It is vey frustrating even when you go to tutoring & u think u got it.
This is is such a great professor! She is very clear and emphasizes important points when she is writing notes on the board. Class in interesting. DO NOT SKIP CLASS. This is a very hard subject, but she is there to help. She is hilarious. Tests are hard but try your best regardless, as she awards partial credit for effort. I would def. take again
Awesome lab professor! Very laid back compared to older chem professors. She's fun and is very helpful during lab. I've heard bad reviews about her but she's great & totally worth the drive to Henderson. She really helps if you're stuck on concepts from lecture & is always in the Science Resource Center helping students from other classes.
I liked her so much, that I will be driving 40 mins to take her again. Yes, her lectures are slow, so if u already know chem, then go elsewhere. She was clear & thorough & has some jokes. Missed a lot of lectures & still did well. Tests are tough, & I never finished a test, but her homework was easy and lots of xtra cred to keep your grade up.
Four exams, lowest score dropped, five quizzes, online homework, cumulative final. Got to use an equation sheet for each examquiz. Used the text book to supplement the lectures. She worked through many examples on the board for each chapter. The course was tough, but she made it manageable! I wish she was teaching the next CHEM course!
Dr. Hudson is a great teacher! She is very knowledgeable, and whenever I had trouble understanding something, she would work through the problem with me. Class attendance isn't necessary, but it is recommended. The quizzes and tests are not hard as long as you give yourself sufficient time to study and ask questions. I would highly recommend her!
Amanda hudson is amazing. She's always there for her students if you need help solving problems or understanding difficult concepts. Willing to meet with you to help you prepare and clarify for exams. She's awesome I wish she would teach upper level chemistry i would totally continue taking her throughout my college curriculum.
too much information, or fractions at once no time to learn when new ones popup.
Professor Hudson is great! I had her for both lecture and lab, and I highly suggest taking her for both. There were 4 exams (one of which could be dropped) and a final. Exams were not bad, but can be very math heavy. The great thing about Professor Hudson's grading is that she is very forgiving in the free response portions. Would recommend.
She is great, you will understand her lectures easily. Homework on Pearson is sometimes harder and confusing but your at home, figure it out. There are times t do group work assignments. puts old exams o canvas to help you. Exams are very similar to old one. Be sure to come and listen to her lecture and you'll do good.
She is an amazing professor with a clear passion for her field. She takes the time to answer questions inside and outside of class. Her tests are difficult but if you study hard, you should do well. Quizzes every week or every other week, few exams, and weekly homework. Put effort into the class, and you should do well.
Dr. Hudson took over mid way through the semester due to some health issues for the previous professor. Instead of jumping into the class and changing from the way the students were used to, she kept the course format and tailored her curriculum to that format. She really has a passion for chemistry. I would take any class I could with her.
I got a D but that was my own fault. You must practice the problems out of the book and review your notes for your tests. Do the online homework to pass the class and show up to every lab. Trust me if you want to pass the class with a C or better then show up to everything. She makes it easy to pass each test and the final is comprehensive
Had 12 total labs but only 11 counted so lowest lab grade was dropped. Once you finished your lab and station was cleaned, you were aloud to leave, small lecture at start of class had all work graded by the next class, answered questions quickly, and was a fair grader 1 quiz worth 10points and one exam. Great professor who knew what she was doing
It isn't too much homework but it is definitely there. Make sure you do the homework though because the little things matter and add up. (To be honest google the questions and they come up no sweat.) She even gives extra credit in the last week and I took the 8 wk class. AND SHE ROUNDED MY GRADE YEAH BOI
Chemistry is just a challenging subject, for me anyway. Dr. Hudson explains a lot of shortcuts and simplifies those calculations. I managed an A- though.
Dr. Hudson is simply amazing and her passion for chemistry is very noticeable. I have taken Dr. Hudson for 2 semesters already, and next semester I have her in Lecture and Lab. I absolutely recommend taking her!!!! PS - Show up to every lecture, lab and ask questions when you're unclear on a subject. Dr. Hudson is patient and will help you out.
Chemistry is not an easy subject, but she is always willing to help and is very easy to talk to. Shes been a guiding force in my academics and her help has been invaluable. Just make sure you do the reading and study outside of class. If you need help, just ask. Shes great. Wish there were more like her.
Amanda Hudson is a great teacher, if you pay attention and take good notes you should have no problem passing her class. Her quizzes and tests are pretty similar to in class examples and the textbook problems she suggests, sometimes she even takes exact problems you've had in lab. Be respectful and she'll be happy to help you, would take her again.
If you have to take any chemistry courses, TAKE HER!!! She is the best, if you put in the work she will help you. She gives partial credit on all her exams and quizzes. She gives practice exams and sometimes gives extra credit on them as well. If you are debating on another teacher, trust me take her.
She is a great professor. If you study for her quizzes and tests you will get an A.
Her notes are so unorganized , daily quizes which you cannot make up if you were to miss one class. Doesn't even review with the class for tests.
She's the best. She's hilarious and makes class fun. The HW is easy and as long as you show up to class and do the HW, there's almost no way not to pass. Taking her again next semester!
She's the only reason I passed my lecture class. She is super nice and explains everything in a way that makes sense. If for some reason you don't understand something she takes the time to explain one on one. Would super recommend. Only thing is she stands in front of the class for 20 minutes to talk about the lab but that's to be expected.
I cant thank her enough, she literally changed my life. Shell always help you. I had so much trouble with a couple chem classes that I almost changed my major. She is only is she the reason I passed and got my AS in chemistry. Couldnt have done it without her encouragement. Ive never had a teacher take the time to help me. Thank you Dr. Hudson
She was a really good teacher. There is a lot of work but it is all easy. She gives amazing feedback.
Professor Hudson was really great at teaching chemistry via Online-Only. I did struggle but I don't think that was at any fault of the Professor. (Chemistry was tricky online) Graded fairly, and her feedback was helpful to better understand why my answer was wrong or what more I could have added. I will be taking her again in for her CHEM106 Lab.
I really dont understand why so many people give this professor such a high score? Just because she is nice? If you have a job or have many other classes to take, don't take this class! You need to figure out everything by yourself in this class. There are tons of homework and quiz every week, and is very difficult.
Great teacher for Chem 121 and 122. She has clear grading criteria. She has office hours, and she is approachable for all your questions. There is some effort on your part as this is chemistry, but she really tries to make sure that you know what you are doing. Organic Chemistry Tutor on youtube for extra help and chads prep
Attend every single lecture and read each and read every chapter or you won't pass any of the exams and quizzes with a pleasing grade.
Took her for my lab credit, this class is simple and straight forward. It's one at-home lab a week and they're easily completable in one afternoon. She gives great info in her videos before each lab. The info isn't super overwhelming like other CHEM classes. Be prepared to buy simple materials (baking soda, food coloring, balloons, etc.)
I absolutely adore Professor Hudson. I've only listened to her lectures but its obvious how much she cares for her students and want them to do well. Her lectures are supplemental to reading the textbook and starting the worksheet. There are 9 discussion posts and 11 quizzes (lowest dropped) and 11 homework (lowest dropped).
She is a nice professor. Her videos are easy to watch and understand. One thing I would like to mention is that sometimes the material on the test was a little different than that what was given for homework and the study guides. The length of tests/quizzes could also be longer. Professor Hudson is a great communicator and the extra credit is nice.
It takes a long time to finish a homework assignment and the quizzes/tests have a time limit and its pretty short for how much work has to be done. The exams had a few questions on it that looked nothing like what we learned. A great Professor but she stopped replying to my emails once she posted the final exam grade; had an 89.5%, wouldnt round.
This class was okay, but I would not take it again. Really read the text and pay attention to it. There were multiple times when she had to fix my test grades because the 'correct' answers were wrong, but I only knew to say something because I processed the content well and was confident in it. Not much feedback, but optional lectures were helpful.
She made horrible videos with her phone. They were blurry, bad sound, kids and dogs screaming in the background. She just did not care. She took up to 4 days to respond to emails. I sent her an email about a video she made, I included time stamps and specific questions. She told me to watch the video. Just plain lazy.
Beware this class is super hard. Tough grader, really bad instructor, expects you to know everything before class, when you ask questions tells you to just rewatch videos until you understand it, goes over practice problems that are simple in lecture vs what's actually on the test/quiz which is alot harder, have to teach yourself.
Beware students. Do not take her. She is rude and condescending. Even though lecture is not mandatory she will cut off her video recordings when students ask questions about homework or other problems during lecture. If you ask a question, she will just say to re-watch her recorded lectures. Tests are super hard and she makes up her own problems.
Genuinely one of the worst instructors I've ever had. I ended up having to teach myself some of the material covered because whenever we had questions she told us to rewatch the recorded lecture videos or find videos on YouTube. She is rude and inconsiderate. The material on the exams are way harder than what we review during lecture. Never again!
you will get homework on the first day of the week for a new chapter. tests are few questions with a few minutes out of a hundred the bad thing is some of the questions are counted as 2 some of them 10. tests and quizzes date not stable which means sometimes Tuesday Monday Wednesday.....I recommend you not to take her class.
DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS IF YOU WANT TO BE MENTALLY STABLE. VERY RUDE, ATTITUDE, DOESN'T HELP, YOU CAN'T ASK OR SUGGEST ANYTHING. YOU'RE PAYING FOR YOUTUBE! SHE WON'T LECTURE TWICE JUST BECAUSE. NO TIME TO DO THE QUIZ NOR THE EXAM! SHE WILL MAKE YOU SUFFER IN ANY WAY AND MAKE YOU FAIL IN EVERY WAY! SO PETTY AND LAZY WON'T TEACH AT ALL. NOT CARING!!!!!
Why she has a high score? This is ridiculous! No enough time to complete quizzes/exams. She is rude. If you care about your GPA dont take her!
For a class forced to be online due to a pandemic, it is pretty solid. There are some lecture videos for each chapter to watch, the professor meets with the class live twice a week for problem solving or lecture (recorded), there are extra credit worksheets for EVERY CHAPTER, and two mini homework assignments per chapter on top of exams/quizzes.
IF YOU ARE A WORKING STUDENT, DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS! You will need to dedicate so much time teaching yourself. She makes everything simple in the lectures but once it is time to take a quiz or an exam, it is nothing close to what she teaches. She gives an impossible time limit on quizzes and exams. I used to enjoy chemistry, but now I despise it.
Very difficult class. I feel like she went out of her way to make the class impossible to pass. I ended up having to withdraw because the class was tanking my GPA. I was spending at least 8 hours a week studying and still didnt feel like I understood the concepts. Tests were extremely hard. My mental health suffered during this class.
The lectures were fairly entertaining, but were held on BBB. There isn't really any homework, all points came from exams and papers. The papers were not bad at all, 2 page minimum and 5 page final paper. Not that hard of material, just put in the time. Test corrections happened once in a while. Nice professor and is always willing to help.
It is hard, no question about it. There are 50+ points worth of EC. Study worksheet packet for each chapter. 4 exams, 5 quizzes. 90 minutes for exams, 30 for quizzes with a 15 minute grace period to upload. I see these bad reviews; honestly, they looking to blame the instructor for poor grades. Tons of videos and lectures are recorded.
Ok so. This professor is very challenging if you aren't good at chemistry. For our section her class lectures were recorded so we didn't have to attend class. The quizzes are timed and I felt a bit time pressured and I even ran out of time. A lot of extra credit. I didn't have to use the textbook at all. She was kind to our class lol
Good lab professor, she gave us an explanation on the lab before we started. I'm taking her next semester for lab again for 122.
Personality: nice and makes a lot of jokes. Teaching style: Must master material. Exam questions were complex, but she does give partial points. Must practice a lot to do well in class. Expects you to have prior knowledge of material so will not cover certain topics. Overall, do not take her if you do not have 10-13hrs a week to study.
I took Professor Hudson for CHEM103 and loved her. I decided to take her for CHEM121 because of the great job she did in 103. The info in 121 is easy in the beginning, but towards the end of the semester very difficult. She skipped through a lot of stuff assuming we knew it, and would always tell us to rewatch the recordings if we didnt understand.
Professor Hudsons lab was a lot easier than her lecture. She would assist you in the procedure for lab, but wouldn't help you answer the final questions the lab asked. Overall she was a good lab professor and I'd take her lab again, just not her lecture.
I absolutely love chemistry; I'm becoming a chemist. I casually read about it in my free time, and this class was extremely difficult for me. The tests felt like going into battle. Beware if you take a little longer to work out math problems. The tests (and even quizzes, sometimes) feel designed to trick you. Do EVERY practice problem.
First of all, she's not the best and will make you hate your life. It doesn't make any sense and maintains a lousy attitude. You will fail her class if you take multiple courses. I try to crash on my way to the lecture because of how awful she is. If I could use some profanity, I would.
Lectures cover math and problem solving. Class has one lecture live, one to view on your own, and one for questions/practice problems each week. Everything is recorded. Each chapter has an EC/study packet. Gives tons of partial credit. Each chapter has practice problems with solutions and online practice assignments to help study.
The lab was very easy. Honestly the experiments she does in this class are ones 5th graders do. So if you want to learn, this is not a class for you. If you just need it for the credit, take it. It is kind of a waste of money to just learn what you've learned in elementary school chemistry. The professor is quick to respond and explain everything.
Prof. Hudson was great! There was only 1 HW due each week, and 1 group work assignment done in class. She is always available for office hours. You need to put time and effort into watching the lectures and paying attention in class to pass the quizzes. The HWs were tricky, but she will always help if you ask. Taking her next semester for sure!
Doesn't show effort in teaching. Feels like she is showing up to get a paycheck. Tests are super hard, words the questions in her way so no one can cheat but words them horribly that I couldn't understand what she was asking. She didn't want students to have the recorded lecture online if we were going to have lecture in class so she deleted them.
Did not have to buy a book! Extra credit for each exam. Started with class assignments and switched to homework worksheets due at the end of the week. Gave feedback on everything. Lecture powerpoints were provided with blanks to fill in. Curved the final and rounded at the end. Very generous with partial credit. Am taking again for 122!
She tries her best to keep the lectures engaging but it is up to you to pay attention. The lectures were helpful to me as I thought she explained it better than the book. Option for extra credit per chapter. Gives notices when the content in 103 would pop up again in 121 if you go that route
Lectures weren't great and took some getting used to, she doesn't grade any homework except for the EC packets which help are similar to the quizzes/tests, you have to definitely spend time learning material on your own but if you go to her office hours she's always willing to help out with any questions you have, 122 is math heavy, put in effort
If you want CHEM 121 to be easy, her class is definitely worth taking. Her tests are challenging but it's nothing she doesn't prepare you for. Make sure you look through her study guides they're pre-given to you in the beginning. She is very fair and gives extra credit. The final test by the school was extremely easy after taking this class.
If you want to do well in CHEM 121 this professor will take you there. The class is challenging but she prepares you. She gives you extra credit and gives you the study guides in the beginning of the semester. If you do well in her class, you will do well in other Chem classes. The final test by the school was extremely easy after taking her class.
This class was pretty easy. Class consist of lectures, a weekly in class assignment and 4 test + a final. Attendance is optional but is recommend on assignment/test days. There is extra credit as well as homework every week. The professor also tries to make the class engaging.
She's super easygoing, grades appropriately and always grades with partial credit so never leave anything blank. gen chem is hard in general so you really have to keep up with the work and understand chem and math concepts. She lets you use notes on your quizzes and exams!
She is very inconsiderate, does not care for her students at all. I had to go to emergency surgery and she dismissed me when I asked for other options to make up for the works I wasn't able to do, which was mandatory after each class. So I was forced to attend with barely any recovery and was told I couldn't take them.
I had to drop this class because she would not answer questions or she would just say something but not actually answer and help. During a family loss I had to ask for days off and she said that it was okay and I could retake the test. When I asked her in person she changed her answer.
Terrible.professor does not teach or is not available for questions all the time. Leave a VM or expect an email in a couple days. I withdrew bc her EXAMS did not match the TEXTBOOK. Formulas were different and ultimately when i asked about it, the tutors were just as confused. Are we using the book or her slides, if so why did we need the book????
She is okay but i would not take her again because of her teaching and testing style. She is very approachable and willing to explain if you dont understand things but her teaching style is kind of all over the place. If you are a really organized person dont take her. Her exams also consists many questions that cannot be solved within class time.
90 percent of the things you learn in this class will have you going "when am I ever going to use this information in my career or life." Do not take for summer as you will have so much to learn and read in so little time.
If you take her class online it's not that hard, I loved learning about chemistry. Her tests are challenging but it's nothing she doesn't prepare you for. Make sure you look through her study guides they're pre-given to you in the beginning. She is very fair and gives extra credit.
She seemed like a nice enough person but the worst teacher. She does not give valuable feedback and her lessons are just her reading from a slideshow. The tutors here are great though! Anyways, every test I got an F on (except 1 I got a D) but yeah. Definitely would never take her again as a teacher, had to pretty much do everything on my own.
I struggled through the entire semester. Definitely hard class The program is around $80 and includes the textbook, homework, and quizzes (You'll need to buy it to pass). Attendance not mandatory for lectures; worksheets can only be done in class. Teaching style not for me (reading from a slideshow). She is very generous with partial credit though.
4 exams + final. Lectures depend on her slideshows, homework, and a worksheet every week. She provides formulas for all exams and is willing to accommodate her schedule if you ask in advance. A textbook comes with the homework site, but her slideshows cover everything. Very nice and tries to break down everything easier, but do not procrastinate!
Professor Hudson's class can be challenging, but she prepares you well. Attend lectures, use the textbook, and try Unstuckstudy for extra study help. Her tests are tough but fair - put in the work and you'll excel.
Chem is a hard class to begin with but she gives us many example problems and study guides for each test. She is also easy to get in contact with if there are any questions. She is also VERY generous in the free response portion of test. Although its not required, going to class really helps. If you show up to class and take notes you will pass!
This class is hard no matter who you take it with. Her lectures are pretty useless but she gives so many recourses that you can just teach yourself. If you actually want feedback and to be thoroughly taught go to her office hours. But in the class it's self she kinda just does a summary of things.
Her teaching style is all over the place, very unorganized. She makes you do a worksheet for the half time of the remainder of class. No help at all, I learned more from the S.I Leader than her. Test are hard. Take another professor if you can. Lots of homework, you can tell she hates her job.
This class was a little challenging, but not the hardest. Sometimes, she will expect you to already know how to do something, but ask questions. She will not make you feel dumb. The only thing I wish was different was the homework due dates, which were Saturdays, but besides that, my grade reflects the effort I put in. She was a good professor!
Her lectures aren't helpful. Shell rushed through the slides not teaching anything and gave a worksheet with stuff that she didn't go over. You will have to do a lot of studying on your own time. Attendance is not mandatory, but if you miss a worksheet day, you get a 0 and can't make it up. Doesnt except late work but allows cheat sheets on tests.
CHEM 108 is hard and takes consistent effort. The prof lectures from posted slides.TAKE NOTES and study outside class. I felt lost in lectures, but the slides, YouTube, and self-study helped me get an A. HW is due before the topic, then again after. 5 exams, weekly work. She gives partial credit. Great for independent learners; others may struggle
professor did not care at all. emailed her that I was having gallbladder surgery because of constant pain and being in and out of the ER. did the not care, told me to attend or have 0 grade. went to school still bleeding and can barely walk and still refused me and gave me a 0.
She rushes through powerpoints and expects you to learn everything on your own. She barely explains anything when you ask for additional help. The online program she uses for homework and textbook is super buggy and hard to use. Her only good trait is allowing cheat sheets. She's very liberal with grading short answer probs. Pick someone else
Dr. Hudson is a great person and is very understanding. The only downfall to this class is the lack of prep for the tests that she requires (4 exams). The problems in the class were kind of similar to the ones on the slides, but you definitely have to read the book and do the textbook problems to be successful in this class. Do well on the papers!
