Great Prof.. Its her first year at OU. Knows her stuff and is very helpful. Highly recommend her. Easy A in her class.
She takes 3 weeks to give you back papers and assignments.. her tests are extremely wordy.. she is very nice and will answer questions, but needs work on time management for posting grades. Lab reports are extremely long and time consuming! fun class but a ton of busy work.
Tests are extremely hard and wordy. She has trick questions that trip you over. The answer choices all look similar so its hard to distinguish which is the right answer. Class average on each exam is below 75%. Overall nice teacher. She will never curve exams!!! Never posts the slides online &she talks too fast during lecture to be able write notes
She is good at teaching, but she talks extremely fast and likes to give exams on very short notices.
Her test are extremely inconsistent, very wordy, she takes weeks to give back assignments. Always seems stressed, but she is very funny about it. Super nice woman, loved her as a person but she made a 200 level class as hard as a 400 level!! if you can take another teacher i would if your worried about getting an A.
Nice Professor, however, She talks too fast in class, never posts the powerpoints online,and exams are hard, and very confusing (wordy). Overall nice Prof, but she does not know how to teach or give exams. Do not recommend her unless you like this subject
The only thing saving this professor is she is very nice, but talks extremely fast like to the point where you leave class pulling out your hair cause you cant keep up with her. Her test are so wordy, studying from test to test is impossible. its a month before you get any assignments or grades back.. super irritating..
I have never had a teacher take a month to give back assignments. If she cant keep up with the work load she shouldn't be assigning so much busy work. Than again she doesn't even grade our stuff a bunch of teenagers do that the school hires :( not right at all. Talks insanely fast!!! good luck with notes!!
She talks way to fast. Takes way to long to get grades back. Exams are almost impossible, they are so wordy and almost every answer could be right. Lectures are so hard to keep up with. She gives a 60 slide powerpoint and flies through. Not recommended for a first time class. And not if you want to get an A
She talks way too fast. It's hard to write down everything that's on her powerpoint slides. If you ask her to go back to a certain slide she tells you that it's in the book. Her tests are difficult and wordy, so it's easy to get confused with the questions. Labs are confusing and she is not clear with them. Takes forever to give back grades.
She does talk quite fast. However, it was not her fault that assignments were not handed back in a timely manner. That was the department's fault. She's very attractive and engaging. Tests were hard difficult to study for because her study guides are vague. Overall though, I recommend.
Great professor! She made the class very interesting. Although it was tough I didn't mind doing the work because it was always fun and interesting to learn about! Would defiantly recommend her!
Attention when the class average on tests is in the low 60's this should tell a teacher its not the students its her tests... they are so wordy you could know the material inside and out and still get a C..shes killing good students gpa. this is not a grad class but treats it like one... i do not recommend taking her way too much work.
HAHAH good luck on the final .. no review.. and gives a ton of new information the class before the final on top of studying her 60 slide power points for each of the 8 chapters everyday,oh wait she doesn't even post those fully for you, and she flies through them..so basically you live out of your book for 3 months catching up..
Ill give her a break cause it's her first semester teaching at O.U. She is the coolest teacher ever as far as to talk with .. but she needs major help making tests.. out of 5 there was 2 decent ones, shes a great person but needs to find what works as a teacher. she means well though...the school needs to give her a teacher aid!!!!
If she posts lecture notes, use them. They are the only way to keep up with her. Tests had 30 questions so getting a few wrong really hurts your score. Some options to test questions were worded far too similar. Took forever to receive any work back.
Even though the class material is not very challenging, she make her exams way to hard and the questions are too confusing. She even had to take some questions out because there were more than one correct answer. You should be able to pass this class with a 4.0 except with her because she makes it harder than it needs to be!
I actually thought she was interesting and engaging, and she always tries to help (extra credit, curves exams, etc). This isn't a blowoff class so be prepared to put in effort. Despite what everyone says, it isn't impossible to do well. I got a 3.7 even though I (like most everyone else) bombed 2 exams. She does talk way too fast and grades slowly.
She is a really cool person, not the greatest professor. You will need to put in effort. I studied my ass off and did poorly on 2 exams. She did curve her final which helped a ton. I ended with a 3.7 and had to work for it. I would say look for another professor.
I respect her as a person, not as a professor. The exams seem easy, but you end up doing worse than you thought. It takes her months to grade papers, even though she makes her TA's do the grading (which are poor). Not the best professor I've had. Attendance points are given for showing up. All she does is read PowerPoint slides.
Take someone else. She talks VERY fast. Only uses Power Point for her lectures. Talks a lot about herself. Be prepared to do a lot of reading. Homework is solely Lab reviews. You WILL wait for assignments, tests and homework to come back. Not in time to help with next assignment either. Exams are difficult. Not very clear or personable.
She tries to help in person, awful at responding to emails. I found her to be very engaging. I had her at 8 AM but she was very peppy and I didn't fall asleep. She tried to relate to students. The labs are a big pain in the butt. First exam easy, second was difficult. Final wasn't too bad. There are better HS201 professors, but she's not that bad.
NOT A BLOW OFF CLASS! Take another professor if you don't have a ton of time to read. Makes a 200 level class seem like a 400. I would kick it at the bar with her any day she is real cool, but awful at making tests. Needs to find her groove and what I'm being nice. Labs will take you a couple days of hard labor. Be on the ball!
Professor Lynch does her best to engage students in interactive discussions about the different aspects of health. She is very kind and helpful, especially if you take the time to get to know her. HS 201 is really not that difficult, it just requires a lot of reading, so be prepared for that. However, Dr. Lynch makes the information fun to learn.(:
I did not mind attending the class because it was just lecture notes and it was easy to pay attention to. However when it came to asking her questions she wasn't very helpful and she talked down to her students.
She is an awesome professor!! She gives great lectures and all the information you will need on a test. If you study the lectures, you're all set. She is always open to questions and helps you find the answers. I would definitely take another class with her. If you put in the work, there's no reason you couldn't get an A.
Professor Lynch is hands down one of the best professors at OU.She makes the class fun and interesting, and she relates the material to the students' everyday lives. She is always willing to answer questions or help you out if you're struggling.
This class is definitely NOT a blow off class! Come to class, attendance will help boost your grade (trust me, you'll want those points in the end!) She grades tough on the labs, so carefully read the directions. Also, bombing one exam will most likely ruin your grade. Study hard and TRY to pay attention. Also, don't bother asking questions.
Professor Lynch was nice and was helpful in her lectures.
thinks she is supreme because she went to an ivy league (she boasted about it a few times) bland, boring. if you are interested in true health,you will be upset in her teaching. does not lecture about important relevant issues regarding health&very one-sided. spent 2whole days lecturing about birthcontrol methods for a sex lesson. thanks? dont take
gets mad and condescending if you have a question on something, in particular, the labs. she basically insinuates that she does not prefer helping students. her lectures are too quick and very basic. not a good professor/educator. talks above students.
Dr.Lynch seemed like a good prof when I met her at orientation, but she ended up being awful. Not only did she bluntly ignore being triggering in class, her material is also dry and at 8am for nearly 2 hours I wouldn't suggest it to anyone! The labs were also quite hard and she refused to give any HELPFUL assistance.
I don't understand this professor's bad ratings! She made lectures interesting and her labs were relatively simple if you follow the directions. My only complaints are that she says "um" quite a few times and her exam questions can be tricky. But, she provides a study guide and provides most of the information. Would take this professor again!
Okay, i literally never care enough to rate a professor. But Amanda Lynch is definitely one of the best professors at oakland university. She makes her lectures clear, fun and easy to understand. She is really quite funny if you're listening too. She is also brilliant. TAKE HER CLASS. You will not regret it.
Very intelligent and a very helpful professor. I would recommend her course. Make sure you attend and take good notes and you should be fine.
I actually enjoyed this class & Professor Lynch. There are 3 exams and a final. She has a few assignments throughout the semester that are tedious, but not hard. Go to class because you are graded for being there. Take notes & utilize the study guides for exams and you'll do fine. She has a lot of great stories & makes class fun.
Great professor, covered all information clearly. Tough grader but if you pay attention it's a very easy class. Iclicker attendance so need to go to class, but worth it because so much information is covered. If you show up and take notes and pay attention it's a walk in the park. She does talk pretty fast though, but notes are online so it's fine
This class is a high school health class taken into depth. The professor is super nice, and she makes you feel like you are a part of the class. I really enjoyed this class, and hope that I can take more courses from this professor in the future.
Speaks very quickly during lectures, doesn't slow down. Gets irritated when students asks questions on papers, hard grader. Always late to class. Intelligent woman, strict professor. Points for going to class, helps out a lot at the end of semester.
I feel like she is just there to read whatever she has and leave, She hates when students ask questions about research reports or any paper. Always late to class which can get annoying. Thinks she's the best teacher is the Health Science department but guess what she's not. Words all of her test to trick you every time.
Her ratings seemed ok when I signed up for her class. However, she is the driest professor I have ever had. Seizes every opportunity to call out students and give them dirty looks. Hates answering questions. Gives no direction about papers. She is annoyed with everyone and everything in her life. HIGHYL recommend avoiding her classes!!!
I took HS 201 with Lynch as a gen ed requirement, little did i know that she would teach her introduction to health class like a 300 or 400 level class. I would never recommend Lynch to a single student, shes incredibly dry and emotionless.
Do not miss a class ever. Your life revolves around this class and she will not excuse any absence even with documentation. And make up an exam? Good luck. Makeup exams are impossible. I am a very good student and am struggling to pass this class. passing is impossible and grades impossibly. Don't waste your time trying to study you'll fail

She's your average instructor,however she tries to keep the class interesting. Some homework assignments are very tough, but there are few of them. She uses iClicker for attendance. She also provides powerpoints from lectures online, but they aren't fully completed (she completes them during lecture).
I looked at reviews before taking her and thought she would be fine. I was wrong. She made sure to tell everyone her higher level classes were more important, so it took forever to grade assignments and tests. Her instructions for assignments made no sense, so it took forever to figure out what she wanted. Lecture was awful. Would not take again.
Dr. Lynch does not explain anything at all. She is not understanding to weather conditions, or a subpoena court excused absence. No matter how hard you study you will not achieve the grade you are striving for. It was vert frustrating writing papers of this class as she is not clear to what she expects and is very vague. Good luck if you take it
Unorganized as hell. She posts her power point really late and when you get to class it's completely different. Also her papers are unclear and she put stuff on the paper that isn't taught in class. I would recommend taking another professor seriously. Never had an unorganized professor like this.
If you do bad on the papers, and you will if you are not studying health or have had health classes before, then you will do bad in the class. I am a 4.0 student and I barely passed this class. Know P and R values and how to read graphs. Don't take as a gen ed.
Makes faces and stares at students making them uneasy and uncomforbale. Got a good grade but worked harder than i did in like math classes.
Professor Lynch does make you work for your grade but in the end it is better because you actually learn the material. Only had 2 exams and a cumulative final but she gives you study guides which are really helpful. It is a long lecture class but she keeps it interesting with stories and interesting facts. Only thing is that attendance is mandatory
She was ok. Is not a nice person and will not accept any excuses for missing class. Shes a good teacher but all she does is power points and research papers.
The material is too hard for freshmen due to freshman's lack of experience in the college setting. I transferred into OU after obtaining a Associates in Science, so everything Professor Lynch taught was not new to me. Bring a iClicker to class, USE YOUR TEXTBOOK! Lynch provides study guides for us on Moodle( which is AWESOME!)
She's tough but if you study the material on her study guides you should be fine for the exams. She's not the best at answering questions and takes two weeks to give test grades back. The case study is a test grade... choose you group wisely because she's a tough grader.

Never thought that a professor could be this cruel at grading, and on top of that how can she say that she wants students to succeed, if she doesn't even make the effort or put aside time for them when they need help? She needs to put aside her ego first, and start thinking about her students for once.
Tough grader: Absolutely, especially on papers, you would think a professor would be a little more lenient on grading papers, but no, she is heartless when grading those, especially if you work so hard on it. Tests: they are a bit tedious. She's never willing to go above and beyond to help students because she "does not have time" for them.
Not my favorite class, but it was easy enough. I skipped almost every lecture and still did okay. Four papers/research projects, two exams, and a final. Participation does count. If you skip class, make sure to keep up on the reading.
I love Dr. Lynch!! She was truly amazing and always willing to help! I'm not sure why so many people have rated her low and deemed her a bad professor. If you go to every lecture, take notes & follow the directions on the papers, you will do really well in this class!!
Took this as a gen-ed, it was interesting, but the tests were hard. The rest of the assignments and projects were easy, but you really need to study for the tests. Also I never even opened the textbook, highly recommend not buying it. She can be strict sometimes and funny others, overall she was alright, the material was challenging.

She's great. Very educated and qualified, clearly passionate about her work. She's a tough grader but as long as you go to her lectures, take good notes, and follow the syllabus you'll do fine. Don't take her if you're expecting an easy A.
She was consistently late to class every single day. Made dozens of typos on exams and was frustrated when students asked what they meant. Was constantly changing dates and plans because she kept falling behind. Rude and ill-informed when students asked questions. She said she would get back to us if she didn't know something and she never did.
I feel like Lynch enjoys failing her students. I will never understand why she grades extremely hard on these group assignments! Those are supposed to help bring up our grade from the extremely hard exams. Never again am I taking this professor. The long amounts of studying came to no use at all.
I disliked the lab group assignments as well! It was just a waste of time. To be frank, I learned absolutely nothing. Lynch likes to ramble on in her lectures just to confuse her students. And, when it comes to the exams, the questions are not from anything she lectured on. At least give a proper study guide if you are going to give hard tests!
Dr Lynch is a decent professor when it comes to lecture and expressing her expectations within the course. However she takes weeks to grade simple assignments and it's hard to manage where you are in the class because she is not accessible outside of lecture. I will not sign up for any future courses with Dr. Lynch
This professor is very harsh with her grading on papers and takes off points due to VERY minimal spelling errors/ grammar errors and her exams are filled with trick questions that test you rather on How you believe she is interrupting the question and not the knowledge itself.
If you mentioned something wrong with your grade, she would say something to justify what the TA's did (they graded things, not her). She was a harsh grader, and didn't give much chance for improvement. She had a review day for the exam, but that was the only time she helped us out. She said she didn't enjoy failing students but she had to have.
Often, the tests were never on subjects we talked about in class. She would tell us one thing in class, and the answer on the test would be something completely different. She claimed her directions for the research papers were simple, but most of the students would struggled and she wouldn't help anyone out. The slightest error, and you failed.
I am waiting for the day she leaves OU. I can't stand Lynch
She's a good teacher. She explains the material really well and makes it easy to understand. My only pet peeve about her is that she was late to class a lot - if I'm on time, she better be on time too. Exams in my opinion were easy. Tough grader on the case studies.
dr lynch is a very tough grader and does not always express what she wants in a paper and then takes off points. Tests are easy if you study. Attendance is taken. Book not needed
Dr. Lynch is a very good professor, she teaches the information really well but I feel like she really tries to trick you during the exams which is honestly unfair. I know my material and when I take her exams I feel like I don't know anything because of the way she words her questions. I rec you study a week prior for her exams! GOODLUCK!
The class was okay however, Dr. Lynch was very unprofessional telling us to email her instead of asking her a question in person. Also, she barely responds to emails and has very confusing lectures. TAKE SOMEONE ELSE she seems smart but don't waste your time the tests are kinda hard.
She is okay. The subject is interesting but she seems like she has way too much going on with her life to be a good teacher. She's consistently late and you won't know your grades for a longgg time. She keeps saying she will get to them but rarely does. She is a tough grader too, so I would take another teacher if you can.

Dr. Lynch is a very knowledgeable professor. She definitely has her moments of being behind on grades, and always tells you why she is late... but I disagree on her being a tough grader. Research Reports are an easy A if you take the time to be thorough and follow direction. Print out the PowerPoints to study. Used the book maybe 3 times so far!
She won't do anything for you, even if you're 1 point away from a 4.0, she won't give it to you. 4.0 student? Doesn't matter. She doesn't take responsibility for her mistakes. Only 3 assignments and tests in the class. Her second test sucks, she knows/tells you students score >10% lower than their first test, but that's the student's fault, right?

Dr. Lynch is all over the place and not organized. She hands out a lot of papers and puts a lot of work on you. Her tests are very complicated and stressful. She tries to trick you.
I felt like I could not breathe in this class. Way too much work and goes through notes too fast. Very unorganized. Do yourself a favor, do not take her.

Amanda Lynch expects you the most from her students even if she is the one tearing them down. She is lecture HEAVY, gives MANY assignments, and grades very tough. It is very hard to stay on track when she is all over the place.
Dr. Lynch is one of my favorite professors! She expects a lot from her students, but she is always willing to answer questions and clarify the material. As long as you show up to lecture, take good notes, and review, you will be fine!
Dr. Lynch is very knowledgeable and understanding! She is very face paced, so be ready to write fast. The class itself was very interesting, however, there were so many case studies and assignments due that it made it hard to find time to study for exams.
