Mrs. Paskey is an excellent instructor. Feminist, funny, class discussions are fun & illuminating. Tests are easy. Ethnography assignment is less than fun.
Best teacher ever! super helpful! makes class fun! Hella Chill
Take her class and you'll enjoy, just do whatever she ask. She gives a lot of extra credits, no worries at all. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND HER.
Very nice and helpful person. She is very knowledgeable in the subject. Does not give too much homework. Most of her exams are based on class notes.
One of the best professor at CRC. I didn't do my best in her class, but I still got a B. She offers a lot of extra credits, so if you want to boost your GPA, take her class.
So far she's a great teacher. She makes everything incredibly clear! I would definitely recommend taking her class. She's comical, never boring, her lectures are interesting, and she offers extra credit! :3
she is amazinggggg...soooo nice and helpful
Best Anthropology professor at CRC. Her ANTH 300 course is an easy A as long as you go to class and listen. Some questions on exams come from what she literally says during lecture, so take good notes. No hw. Only 2 exams and a final. 3 article reviews (2 pgs), mini-writing assignment (2pgs) and a simple zoo project. Offers extra credit.
Very good professor. her tests are based only on lectures and she lets you use a flashcard full of notes on the tests. only 4 homework assignments which take about 30 minutes each. take this class, id say its an easy A.
Awesome teacher! easy and very interesting as well as funny too. Dont use the book that much, test is based on class lectures, study guides provided! a few article reviews and other little assignments. I loved this class :)
GREAT TEACHER! very clear and very helful as well as funny. She tells u everything u need to know for the tests during the lecture. book is rarely used, I suggest dont buy it and just borrow from reserves when needed. Lets u use a 3x5 card on tests and only a few assignments throughout semester. Just come to class, study, and complete assignments.
Very very easy class. She is a wonderful teacher, she is clear and very straight forward when it comes to exams, which are based on the notes. Only three exams, and three article reviews. Good teacher
Excellent teacher easy class. I got a B an never studied. If your into Anthropolgy class will be very interesting for you. If not, you will still be entertained with this professor she keeps it interesting. Very friendly and helpful. Do all the work and you should pass without any problems. If you fall behind extra credit will help you pass.
she is amazing! funny and easy to talk to.... tests are based on lecture... not much hw...
I LOVED this class. She gave the best lectures that kept you interested and were so helpful. The only way to fail is by not coming to class and not doing homework. All assignments are a breeze if you follow guidelines. I'm now majoring in Anthro because of her.
Horrible teacher i ever have, she gives review before test and it says on it its not everything. In fact, it is true only ten percent comes from the review sheet, rest all comes form the lecture not even the book. If you are ESL student don't take her class because she talks so fast. She is lecturing and you are writing. She even mark you down on g
If you are taking this class as of G.E, try something else unless you really like anthropology. She makes class very hard for A or B you need to study your really hard. Her tests are hard. I will suggest not to take her. If you like anth you can try if you never taking any try something else.
She is super super organized. Lectures are crystal clear and she is very friendly. Extremely easy to get an A as long as you show up to class. Almost nothing from her review sheets actually ends up on the tests so watch out for that. Just study the lecture notes.
If you dont pass her class, you should join the army or something. I went to class maybe 5 times the entire semester, and got an A. She is a really clear teacher and everything is straight forward.
If you are capable of anything you can pass her class with no problem. I went a few times and got a B. TAKE HER.
she's helpful if u show her ur serious in passin da class & also very understandable which i apperciate because she knows how it is 2 be a college student
easy teacher. This is weirdest science course ive ever taken; everything seems like a cute story based on imaginations and false hypothesis. Most of the time its boring, who cares about the long names of primates?
This teacher is not helpful at all. If she decides she does not like you, which is the majority of the class she will do everything she can to give you a low grade. Make sure you check your grades because she doesn't. Terrible teacher take someone else.
Professor Paskey is brilliant. She openly encourages class discussions and really seems to want to act as a guide more than just a droning lecturer. She explains things well, the work is fun, and if you keep current on your reading, you'll be fine.
Great teacher. She makes class interesting and likes to have class discussions which i like. Very understanding and willing to help. :)
Not a great professor. She's rude sometimes and isn't available to her students. She treats the class like if it's high school. And no there are rarely ever class discussions. Take someone else, or don't even do Anthropology at all! My advice ;)
She is the best teacher I have ever had!!! She made that class so interesting!!! It was one I was always looking forward to go to. Lets just say I loved her class and her so much I am taking another class of hers this next semester just for fun, cause it's a joy to go to her class!!
Great teacher! Keeps class funny and her notes are so useful. Tests come straight out of the notes. Don't be afraid to take the class because the information is also interesting!!
i find her very helpful... shes really quick at getting back with the emails... doesnt take alot of crap from students and thats good... her explanations are great especially when she gives examples... really great professor
The comments below are not true. She's boring, doesn't make science interesting, and is rude at times. I am telling you this as a student who gets A's on all of her classes; yes her class is easy, but you will dread it.
I have no idea why other people wrote such nasty comments about Paskey, but she is easy!True, her lectures can be boring but interesting at the same time. Tests are never hard and they are only based on the notes. She only assigns essays because she is told to, and they are not that hard.
She doesnt keep her promises. When she says she'll get you a grade for an exam, or paper graded by the weekend.. that actually means a week or so later she will. She DOES treat u like ur in elementary school, and if u do something that she doesnt like ur forever on her "hate list" meaning ur going to get graded harsh. easy, but horrible teacher
I got an 89% in the class, and gave me a B as my final grade. Don't take her, she sucks ass!
Professor Paskey is an amazing instructor! She gave 3 exams which she provided study guides for. We were allowed to use a 3x5 note card on all of them! Also, she gives TONS of extra credit opportunities and her assignments are generally 2pg papers. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
PROS:none CONS:lack of interpersonal skills, impatience, rude, bias, likes to screams(!)in writing, grading system designed to fail. The 5% EC not = TONS & guaranteed EC earned. Failed 1 exam and essay, you are so done, no rebound to pass. Regret taking her, change my anthro major after this class. Recommend? NO.
I took her class online, It was so easy! I'm not saying that you won't have to do some reading from the books or the lecture, but almost all of her exam questions are black and white and easy to find in the provided materials. I was intrigued, and satisfied by this course.
Dnt blieve what u hear bout prof. paskey she is a great teacher who is alwys willing 2 help+even tells you that her office hours are there for you! She does put her foot down on slackers which is why some people probably dont like her, HELLO its college not high school u gotta put some effort in!!!!
I got n A in her class by doing the wrk and actually studying fr the exams. Opportunity for extra credit +she lets u use a 3x5 index card on both sides on the exams what more do u want?! U actually have to try and not expect to have your grades just given to u its college! it kinda sucked tho that i had to buy books when i never used them at all.
What is wrong with all these Elk Grove, privilidged f-tards? Paskey is so helpful and easy (if sometimes corney. Her passion for the subject shows in her teaching and the "essays" are gimmes (the avg for them on d2l was like 98%). The avg for the exams are considerably lower, but all you have to do is take notes and you to do well.Biased? Please!
Professor Paskey is the best professor I've ever had. She really knows her stuff. If you attend class, if you want to learn, and you take notes you'll have it made. She practically gives you the answers to the tests, there is no final, no pop quizes, and really very little homework. There is some research involved but its a piece of cake.
The people below me are idiots! Just because the class is an easy A doesn't mean she's a great professor. Yeah, I passed the class by flying colors! But in reality, I didn't learn anything because of her teaching style. Students are so stupid when they only focus on grades, rather than learning.
To the person's review below me, dont pay attention. Professor Paskey is awsome. I have been with her for three weeks now and I love her class. She has a good sense of humor. Biased? please. It's not true. The only thing I proabaly complain is she talks to fast. But other than that, that's it. Awsome teacher. I recommend her.
She is a great teacher. The only bad thing that i got from her class was an addiction to coffee lol. No she talks really fast so you need to make sure that you are completely awake. Coffee helps. I think the class is too easy, but you do learn a lot.
How much she loves her subject comes across in her lectures, making them fun and interesting. You'll learn a lot, and the coursework isn't very demanding. Great professor, one of the best I've had at CRC.
Just GO to CLASS. It's interesting. She's nice. I recommend her. You'll do fine.
can be rude sometimes but teaches clearly.took her over the summer and her tests were all multiple choice..no surprises..you do have to do work and study but it's not hard. Go to class, pay attention and you will pass!!!
her class is very interesting. she keeps her lectures pretty entertaining with jokes here and there. you have to write 3 articles to do. gives you extra credit to raise up grade. midterms are fair.
narrow minded and failed me cause i didn't agree with her ideas. very biased and has lame jokes. tries to connect with class and be of youth, but no connection with me. mad cause i said anthropologist see things from one perspective lol.
Great teacher. Classes are very enjoyable. You have to be dumb to no pass her class. Everything is pretty straight forward.
Very good teacher. Pretty easy teacher. Notes and lectures are 95% clear. But warning she talks pretty fast though. But thats okay. Shes a good lecturer. you will understand. She has a good sense of humor. I dont understand why people say she is biased. I dont see it. Shes smart and interesting. Reommcomneded. Take her.
Took this course based on the reviews thinking it was going to be an easy GE. But it really wasn't. You have to have an interest in this class. I didn't so I ended up dropping it.Shes an okay teacher talks fast and has a little weird enonciation accent from the south or something.Just a tiny bit. Anyway only take this class if you have an interest.
Really into her lectures, she is very organized and gives directions on the hw's really thoroughly. Class is set at a great pace where she doesn't cram but also doesn't take her time.
good prof. always on time. no need for books, just go to the library and scan the pages you need for the article reviews. study some, do the extra credit, and if you can average low B's on the exams, you'll prob get an A. no reason how anyone can't pass this class.
Not sure on what to say. It was not a good experience. Would I advise to take her class probably not. Although I passed I dont think many people did. :)
I do not recommend this teacher at all! her grading is so hard. I swear I did more writing assignments in her class then I did in English writing. She would mark points off if our paragraph structure was not correct. She did anything in her power to find something wrong with your paper/maps so that she can take points off. & her tests were so hard!
too much work for a GE class. Her grading is wack, she grades everyones work differently, i made same mistakes as a classmate but classmate got points deducted not me. too many writing assignments. dont know where test questions come from, they arent out of the book or lectures. she loves making questions difficult and tricky. stay away from herr!
I really dislike this teacher. she is one of those teacher who will never give a student a perfect score. She made the tests sound so easy, but in reality it was hard and she ask random and tricky question which can be frustrating. Also there are tons of writing and she WILL deducts point for grammatical error (harshly). worst teacher at CRC.
Very clear with directions, tells you what she expects from you up front-very honest.Reading quizzes almost every class.Attendance & note taking is a must.Offers many extra credit opportunities. Not that hard of a grader, if you do extra credit & attend classes/study you will pass it.
Professor Paskey is a very intellectual person. The bad part is that she expects all her student to be as knowledgeable as she is. Her grading system does not benefit the student and she take off points for little mistake and doesn?t care if the student pass or fail the class. Be prepared to do extra credits if u wants to pass with a decent grade i
I took this class thinking it will be fun and interesting. Paskey makes it too serious and talks WAAAY too fast. I'm in ENGWR 302 and she called my writing "awkward," something NONE of my English teachers EVER complained about! She corrects them like she IS the English teacher! DO NOT take her if you want to try HARD & end up with an AVERAGE grade!
as of 2010 everything is total different and stupid. she gives you a note card for the test but you dont use it cause all the information isnt stuff on the study guide. she has no mercy for late work. she has to dock you on every assignment no matter how good it is.
Paskey is a horrible teacher She did not help, nor care for her students she teaches just for the money. Her grading is very difficult and I would recommend to stay away from her!
She is probably the worse teacher at crc. Sometimes i wonder if she is an anthropology teacher or an english teacher? she gaves out essays and then grades you on your writing LOL her tests are just wack. does not care about her students :(
This Professor is great, she expects you to participate in your learning. There are a few papers and they are short. You get points off if there are grammar and spelling mistakes but that's expected. In her classes if you act like a college student, do what is expected of you and don?t expect a good grade just handed to you, you will do well.
Here is a teacher who is passionate about what she teaches. She encourages class participation and it's fun. Note card used for test, so write small! Take notes on everything she discusses.
I couldn't believe that nobody has given Professor Paskey any chili peppers! She is hot in the way that your best friend's mom is hot. The way she is so passionate about Anthropology is incredibly sexy. Not to mention, her sense of humor is also very attractive. Oh yeah, she's a great teacher.
Prof.Paskey rocks! I became an Anthro major after taking her classes. She doesn't tolerate slackers and rudeness so don't take her class if you are either. She is respectful and includes everyone. Follows syllabus and expects you to learn the information. Includes art projects and field trips as part of her curriculum. Loves what she teaches.
I bet she has never late in her life, that's why if you late jus 10 sec for hw and you are done! She should be an English teacher instead because that what you will be rated on you paper, your writing skill. Talks fast and expect you to be as goo as her to understand
Paskey is a very smart teacher, and is very passionate about the subject she teaches but unfortunately, is a horrible grader. She gives you a note card but nothing on her lectures is on the test
She is passionate about her teachings but she grades so hard its ridiculous. You can spend hours on a piece of homework and she wont even give you a D for doing it. She is a extremely hard teacher, this is almost ridiculous. I dont think I have ever had this hard of a teacher. Do yourself a favor and take another teacher!!
I loved her class. She really enjoys anthropology and while I didnt agree with everything she said, I learned a lot and could understand what she was teaching.
this teacher is ridiculous! i read her rate my prof. a while back and it was good stuff! but things have deffinitly changed! grades papers like shes a english teacher!! just like everyone else says here. she gives lectures on certain things, her study guide is ridiculous because she tells u to study A-Z but test is comp. different stuff!
Aside from the decent lectures she gives, she is the worst professor in terms of grading the papers with a no late policy! One minute late and its not accepted or ten percent deducted! She grades as if this was an english class. she seems to care more about punctuality and grammar rather than the point of the story! It's a "INTRO" to ANTHRO class
She's really passionate about what she's teaching. Barely used the book, took notes from her lectures. Allows note card for exams and based on her lectures so attending is mandatory, listen to her lectures and take good notes. And wow, the papers aren't even that bad. Just watch your grammar and spelling.
I took this class Fall semester of 2010 and I have to say, I like her as a person she was nice, but her teaching sucks. She does grade like a English teacher. I read the whole entire "whats love got to do with it?" summaries and everything and I got bad grades on those because of my grades. If you are 1 minute late, won't accept your work!
Anthro 300 is only a "GE CLASS" and Paskey makes it so hard then it should really be. Seriously, my pre cal class was not even that bad. Everyone, if your looking for an easy GE class do not take anthro bc honestly i dont think anyone passed :/ her grading is horrible. Was i taking Anthro 300 or English 300? Sometimes i wonder...
Whoa..So apparently I am not the only one that thinks she grades papers as if she's an English teacher lol
Science classes are definitely not for me...but I thought the class was pretty easy..take good notes...I don't think she grades hard...I'm an average student and I got a B...no final..I say take her
The trick to this class is take the lecture and the lab its a lot of fun and one reinforces the other. She is a fun teacher and very accessible if you have any question you can email her, she will look over papers before you turn them in and let you know if you need to fix anything. Just put in the work and you will be pleasantly surprised.
A good instructor. She does a great job during lectures. Grades fairly on homework assignments. Some of the exam questions can be a bit tricky if you tend to overthink things. Overall not a difficult class and learned alot of interesting things.
People saying she grades like an english teacher must be really stupid. DO NOT LISTEN TO THEM! english is my worst subject and I got 100% on ALL writing assignments. She said herself that she doesn't know the place of a comma. This class is an easy A and you learn a lot. She's a wonderful teacher.
One of my top 5 favorite teachers at CRC. She's very approachable and keeps the subject very interesting. Tests are easy and is willing to help out whenever students ask. I also took her for cultural anthro which was equally fun and easy. Can be stern when necessary - much appreciated quality.
She's not a good teacher !!!!!!!!
People complain, but ignore it. When you can tell a professor loves the subject you can tell. She barely looks at her notes and can talk for the entire class about anthropology. If you use her hours she's helpful and uses her e-mail often to help as well. Spelling and grammar do count... but really, it's college people. What were you expecting?
The reason students are required to take English is so that we are prepared to write for other things in life, like Anthro classes. So yes, Paskey grades like an English Professor but that's the way it should be.
I liked Professor Paskey, she's interested in the topic and teaches it well. Like others have said, she does grade papers like an English teacher, which is understandable. This is college not junior high. Her tests are average, just show up to class and take notes and you should be fine. It's a sure A if you do the work.
Very easy class if you show up and take notes...Prof Paskey is very helpful and gets back to you with any questions you have extremely quick. She can be stern at times. Easy class!!
Amazing Prof, Unique style. This was my last online GE Class to move up to my Masters and i enjoyed every rough bumps she placed.Advice? proofread your work, check you paper online for possible plagiarism before submission. Read her notes and a simple project. you all good! Did 26 units, never read text book nor the article book, but got A.
She grades fair. Class was fun and interesting. If you put in effort you will pass the class. Extremely helpful and willing explain concepts. I recommend this class to everybody. Looking forward to her Archeology course.
Engaging with her students, answers questions. VERY helpful. Helped me with clear feedback in every homework assign. Very smart. Used my textbook a lot. The class was more fun than I thought it would be. Grades fairly If you put in effort to learn and do assignments.
Don't like her teaching style: talks kind of fast, so sometimes it's hard to follow through. Midterm was difficult: provide study guide with LOTS of topics, but on the exam, it was detailed!
This class is fun even if you're not interested in the subject matter before hand. Her lectures are easy to understand and not boring. For the test, some questions come from the anthropology matters boxes in the book so be sure to check those out. She is very approachable for office hours and very helpful.
All lectures and subject matter is explained very thoroughly. You wouldn't regret taking her for Anthropology. Clicker questions are always fun! An interesting class and a nice professor, take her!
I really enjoyed this class. Professor Paskey is great. She knows the subject well and is very helpful if you ask her questions after class or at office hours. You need an iclicker for this class, so attendance is a must. 3 exams, no midterm. A portion of the exam is short answer. I received an A in class. Show up everyday and take GOOD notes!
Her class is pretty easy. As long as you take notes of her lectures and her clicker questions, you're pretty much good. Her exams are very easy. All of the exam questions are on the study guides. There aren't much homework. Most of the homework are easy as well. She lets your bring a note card for exams too. Overall, she's pretty awesome.
I'm taking Paskey currently and I'm not very pleased. I really wish she would utilize powerpoints more because oral definitions are not helpful especially for an ANTHROPOLOGY CLASS. And I feel like I'm literally in elementary school all over again. Her style of teaching and tone are just not up to par for my expectations. Choose wisely!
She's a really good teacher but grades a little hard. As long as you study and keep up with the readings you should be fine. She's really easy to contact and very helpful in and out of the class room. Assignments are pretty easy. The lectures are oral sometimes (w/o powerpoint) but it's just to make sure you're paying attention. I really loved her!
Very straight forward professor. This is a lecture class and that is all she does, lecture. Material is interesting so its not too dreadful. Over a good teacher and a common college course.
There are several assignments throughout the semester, weekly discussion boards, and a group assignment due at the end; you communicate with your group through the discussion boards, and four exams. The exams can be pretty tough, so be sure to study. She can be a strict grader on the assignments, so cite your sources properly.
she is really nice and really easy a must!!!
Very straightforward, clear professor. Make sure you purchase the textbook and an i-clicker because both will be used throughout the class. She can be a tough grader, however the class is very straightforward and easy to digest. 3x5 notecard allowed per exam - extremely helpful for writing down terms like "Sahelanthropus tchadensis" and such.
Took good notes and even copied down the i-clicker questions and answers. Thought I would pass my first test. NOT EVEN. I received a D. Her tests barely related to the lectures. She basically asked questions about everything except what she lectured about. Tough grader. She is a want to be English teacher when it comes to papers. Late policy sucks.
She is a really good lecturer. However, her test is kinda hard. She put a lot of questions about the videos, and readings in the class on the test. Only half of the test is related to her lectures and the books. Attendance is a must if you want a good grade in her class. The class is really fun and interesting.
Not a good professor with communications, not helpful, taking her online course and she gives out a lot of assignments with a group project that some students don't communicate well with emailing and Professor don't seem to do much about handling situations where groups don't do well with. She even said let her know so she'd fix it. Worst class!
Hardest Class I've ever taken, but if you put in the time you will get a good grade. READ, READ, READ!!!!!!
This class is interesting, and she is a good lecturer. However, her tests are ridiculous. The average grade on the test was always below 65%. The average for the final was 51%. Try to take other professors if you can.
She is helpful and quick to reply to emails. She loves her subject and cares about her students, so if you have a problem talk to her about it. If you put in the work, you will pass. Also don't try to BS her.
She is a fantastic Professor who is really dedicated to her students. Her lectures are always interesting and her passion for archaeology is always apparent. I would highly recommend taking her class.
Her lectures are long and boring. She speaks as if everyone in her class should understand what shes talking about. One of those professors that shows passion but lacks a connection with her students. Tests are hard and she is also a tough grader. The class went from a pack room to half. Take another professor.
She was very nice and very approachable! I loved that she gave extra credit opportunities and a 3x5 notecard that was allowed to be used on tests! I'm not sure why there are negative reviews about her I thought she was great and really has a passion for anthropology.
She is very passionate about her work but she is very rude and doesn't want to talk with students after class. She doesn't understand that her students don't know the material like she does and gets very upset when she feels she was asked a question that was too obvious to answer. Using iClicker and extra credit should help you raise your grade.
Even though you really have to work for that good grade, she really wants you to do well and is more than willing to help you do that if you make the effort. She's also really amusing
Okay professor. Her lectures are long; however, if you read all the culture sketches and pass the quizzes. You will do well in this class. Her lectures are long but she gives extra credit points. The books were a waste of money it was rarely used other than the culture sketches. This class was okay, but I felt I should've taken it online.
Absolutely loved this professor. She is very clear and makes sure the students understand what she is teaching. There is a lot of reading for the chapters in the text book and the novel we have to read during the semester but it is all very interesting. The tests can be difficult, there is no surprise material. She tells you what you need to know
She was great! She found a way to make the subject matter very interesting. I didn't think I would enjoy the class at all and it ended up being my favorite of the seven classes I took this semester. She did require an iclicker (eclicker?) for our class, which was a little pricey, but other than that the class was amazing. I'd take her again.
She has a box full of knowledge in her field. I loved her for she really used the time she had and was always on point. She is inspirational because her teachings attracted me to go to Africa. She might look a bit strict to freshman students and goes fast for non-bio people.
Prof. Paskey is a nice person. She knows her stuff and is strict about certain things. As long as you do the work you'll be good. The only thing though is that if she doesn't like you, she makes sure you know it so be on her good graces until class is over.
I took the online class and it was fairly simple. Just do all the assignments and discussion posts each week. The only difficult part of this class was the tests. Just make sure to study for them since they basically determine your grade in the end. There is one group project that is fairly graded, just do the work. Make sure to do extra credit.
I took her class over summer. I showed up to every class(8am) and took pretty decent notes. The only extra credit I did was an online orientation quiz for Canvas. I ended up with an A. I did pretty well on the exams. She's fun, knowledgeable, and encourages classroom discussions. I would take another class with her.
Awful with Canvas. Typos galore, misspellings, exam answers out of order. Doesn't answer comments inside Canvas, must email her. Doesn't correct wrong information posted by students in discussions. Lots of reading, ALL texts req'd - exams are largely from the annual editions. Virtual zoo - big group project - is a pain.
Hey everybody, Took this teacher for ANTH 310, and the class wasnt bad at all, it was the teacher that was horrible. She is hands down the worse teacher i ever had. Whenever i would reach out for help, she would give me sarcastic responses and would tell me to check the syllabus. On top of that, she changes grades last minute without telling you
Mrs. Paskey is a snake and does not care about her students. Her grading scale is horrible. Would not recommend to my worst enemy.
Paskey is decent. Her lectures can get boring but that's usually because her material is. She is funny with quick one-liners to keep you awake. There isn't a lot of grading here, so make your assignments count and DON'T turn them in late, or you'll get a big penalty. There is one group project that isn't fun with bad teammates. Made our final easy!
Tests are really hard when it comes to short essay portions, focuses on how specific our answers must be way too much, and missing reading sources that can impact our performance on tests and lectures which is a big deal. Took her class to learn about Anthropology, but I cannot learn anything if we do not have any sources we can learn from online
Prof. Paskey is knowledgeable and supportive in class. Her lectures are great and she can help you connect with career opportunities in anthropology if you have a passion for the information. However, she has reasonably high expectations for her students so don't expect her to have patience for people looking for an easy grade.
This professor is very kind and understanding. For this particular course Cult Anth. there was a good load of work to do but all doable if you just sit down and do it. Make sure to read as she gives pop quizzes exactly on the reading, and she fairly states that only some chapters have quizzes.
Such an awesome professor! She really cares about what shes teaching and wants students to succeed. Tests arent too bad and you get a notecard to use during the tests. Highly recommend taking her for ANTH 300, and for the lab too.
I took Anth300 and really enjoyed it. One of the only classes Ive taken that I didnt want to end. Got me really interested in the study of Anthropology. Pretty good amount of homework but its not tedious! Highly recommend taking a course with Paskey!!
So she was kinda confusing on the first assignment after our intro to everyone in canvas. Told us in email we had two options for an assignment I did one. I was not the only one confused by her. My grade dropped very quickly. She seems cool. I saw 4.5/5 before I wonder what happen.
Took her for summer. Way too strict and non caring for others during this pandemic. I feel she needs to be more better, discussion posts are easy but really over an 100 point reply or non clear, changing announcements..
I took this class during the summer for six weeks. The class was asynchronous, so stuff was done at our own pace and we never saw her face. Each week we had to read the textbook and articles. Then, we took a quiz and participated in a discussion. Sometimes we had short writing assignments. The class has a lot of work, but it's easy if you read.
The class overall was relatively easy to understand but her online exams would be occasionally be oddly worded or ask extremely specific questions. I think its to deter cheating but I'm pretty sure it led more people cheat. Other than that the lessons were easy to follow and the Professor was pretty nice. You also get 5 discussion freebies to use.
Excellent teacher, put together a very organized class to cope with Covid-19. I gave about 90% effort and received an A-, your effort in the reading, discussion boards, and assignments show on your grade.
This was honestly the best class I've taken in my three years of college so far. She's super understanding, engaging, funny, and really taught me a lot that I still retain today. There's one or two papers, but they're about cool topics. A few required readings and plenty of documentaries in class.
Best professor, really chill and understanding(especially during these times). Just do the work, read and take notes and you'll excel.
GREAT teacher. Not your typical watch an 1970's movie about anthropology and give your opinion type of teacher. She gives a LOT of reading and challenging quizzes. Be ready to spend some time reading. She takes the time to explain things and offers a ton of extra credit.
Took her last semester. Overall easy class to pass as long as you review and take notes. She makes it easy to understand the material, so it is on you if you fail. Learned a lot about species and the relationship between animals and their relations with the ecosystems. Loved the class.
A lot of the discussions, she has her TA's do and they are very harsh graders. I will get a 0 on a discussion post because I missed a few words replying back to a classmate. Or if I didn't add any new information to a discussion post I would get 0 credit for even though I typed out two 200 word discussion posts. And didn't round me up from 79.9%.
Exams are every other week or two weeks, they are review exams. There were a few group projects, you work with the same people all semester. You can miss 5 discussion boards without penalty. She is very understanding, easy to communicate but sometimes her directions are not clear. Textbook readings are given weekly.
Great teacher. Has a lot of reading with modules, textbook, as well as articles to read. Multiple chances to get the best grade on test. Has a few group projects with evaluations at the end about group members if you have a problem.
Took this class way back before COVID. Easy class. Would recommend her.
I’m usually critical on professors, but man Prof Paskey is an amazing and understanding professor. Light work throughout most of the semester. Are you lost in her class? Check her announcements. Everything on there will get you back on track. I don’t what else to say, please take her class.
Professor Paskey is a terrific prof. You will need to read a lot for this class, but if you do, the tests are easy; she does not try to trick you. She is always available to her students and has a great sense of humor. I can't recommend her enough!!
She gives you 3 attempts for every quiz and gives out a lot of easy extra credit. Also, at the end of the semester she rounds up your grade if it is within 2 percent. Only down side was the group projects. You have the same groups the entire semester. I barely read all semester and got an A. If I could do it so can y'all.
I LOVE professor P. She is helpful, gives clear directions MANY times, and she keeps things entertaining, even online! She offers extra credit and 5 freebie discussions that you don't have to do. The course is work, but you will only fail if you just don't try to do well. She gives 3 chances on quizzes & keeps the highest. 100000/10 recommend
Never take her
Prof Paskey is a nice and caring professor, but I wouldn't take this class again because I don't like anthropology. Prof gave out many readings, so be prepared because you will have to know them on the quizzes. Everything on the quiz is based on the readings and lecture material. There will be group projects too, and I hated it personally.
I enjoyed Professor Paskey's class, there is a bit of reading in this class but a lot of the information is covered during lectures. She is very understanding and caring. She is also flexible with deadlines as long as you reach out. She encourages students to get to know one another better through her group projects, I highly recommend her class.
The quizzes are based directly on the reading and modules that are assigned. Group projects were a strain at times. Her communication is really efficient and transparent on a class-wide scale, but lacked at times when trying to solve an issue one-on-one. The class itself was slightly boring to me as I didn't find anthropology interesting.
Prof Paskey gives out weekly discussion boards the whole sem, 6 points each. Homework's mainly just reading. She gives us notes and modules that are written for us to understand. There's 5 chapter quizzes in total, 30 questions for 1 hour. All pretty easy and you get 1-3 tries each time. There's also 3 group projects & offers extra credit.
great teacher, very understanding. 6 week course = fast-paced, 3ish chapters per week. each week consisted of 1 quiz, 1 discussion, group project/ independent project, reading articles + textbook. just dont save anything for last minute bc reading can take awhile. otherwise, great teacher for anth; wouldnt have wanted anyone else
Prof was okay. Responded to emails pretty fast but grading is weird. Gives out rubrics and then somehow docked points for following the rubric. Quizzes and tests are easy, based off of readings/lectures. Can also find answers online but prioritize going through notes anyways.
The professor's extra credit assignments were outdated, students caused drama, and group assignments were stressful. Peers did not contribute, and the professor was hypocritical and unstable. AVOID. PROFESSOR WILL MAKE YOUR LIFE DIFFICULT AND DO NOTHING ABOUT IT. NOT LEARNING DISABLED FRIENDLY, CONFUSING ASSIGNMENTS.
Professor Paskey is a very tough grader, As much as I wanted to like her she had moments in class where she was rude to students and was also very rude on submission comments. Let me say it one more time, she grades VERY hard. I hope you guys look for an understanding professor instead. I don't recommend this class!
this course was rather difficult to navigate. In the 3 group projects I was in, NONE of the group members besides me actually communicated, which Is not the professors fault,so i didnt all work on my own I think you should get extra credit. had to reach out to the professor numerous times to get clarity on projects and assignments.
I enjoyed Professor Paskey's ANTH300 course. She's very knowledgeable, so you will also learn a lot. There's a review quiz every unit. She has a rubric for other assignments, but she's also very specific on what she's looking for. Exams are in groups, so it's not too bad.
She is a tough teacher, and it is a challenge for me since I am not good at doing humanity, especially when I am confused assignment infographic, I know the concept, but it is hard to match what she needs since I already follow all the requirements from the list. However, I did some extra credit stuff to boost the score as her quiz exam worth most.
She is very accessible and offers great extra credit opportunities. The reading material is easy to comprehend, and she gives multiple chances for quizzes. I am taking another class from her as well because I enjoyed her so much.
Lots of reading but I didn't read anything she published in the modules. I didn't know we had a textbook until the last day. She responds to emails the next day. Discussion boards every week which are easy to do. Review test every 2 weeks 30 questions but youll find some on quizlet.
Professor Paskey had her good and bad days. very tough grader with the infographics and doesn't explain them well. She makes you feel dumb if you don't understand the assignment.
She responds to emails within a reasonable time frame. There's a lot of reading but I never did it and I still managed to get an A. She offers good feedback on certain assignments we had to do. Discussions every week weren't bad at all. Overall I would take it again- class was flexible and wasn't too difficult.
The ANTH300 class with this professor can be challenging, but using resources like Unstuck AI alongside the textbook can really help. Despite some grading quirks, the lectures are informative, and the group projects aren't too bad if you stay engaged.
Super straight-forward course & professor. Lots of reading, but quizzes reflect said reading so it's up to you who determines what letter grade you receive. Must do 2/3 projects. SO EASY. Took me max 30 minutes for both. Overall super easy!
