Don't let her cute face and pink skirts fool you! She is a HARD teacher. Take her seriously or you will get an F! I'm not kidding either! Usually people find this out after the first midterm, so take notes, read her books, & attend class regularly!
this class was really fun.. i barely went to class but i should have went more often.. topics discussed are very interesting and thought provoking.. prof. perez makes you think in ways you never would have.. highly recommended..
Professor Perez is a great professor, and I'm glad I took her class. She's really good at explaining different concepts, and although there is a lot of reading required, hey, its a 450 class... welcome to university. :-)
I loved this class! This has been one of my favorite classes at the university! She was really friendly and willing to help. The topics that were discussed were very interesting and thought provoking! She was very knowledgeable! I recommend this teacher!!
love this class...best class on campus! difficult grader but u learn alot about sexuality and interestin topics...i suggest everyone should take her class! she is fun!
SHE IS SO CUTE AND FUNNY AND THE SUBJECT MATTER IS GREAT! THE ONLY WAY YOU CAN GET LESS THAN AN "A" IS IF YOU MISS CLASS ALOT. TAKE NOTES AND PAY ATTENTION TO HER AND YOU WILL EARN AN EASY "A"
Prof. Perez is honestly one of the best professors I have ever had. For being an 8 AM class, I was never tired during her lectures! She's very excited about her teaching material and makes her students feel the same way.
She's an awesome teacher. She is always willing to answer any questions you may have. She is a difficult, but fair, grader. The topics are interesting & fun! Note taking is easy since her lectures are easy to understand, but MUST pay attention!! If you listen and participate guaranteed at least a B
One of the best teachers at CSUF. I would take this class again in a heart beat. You have to go to class but the lectures are fun to listen to and easy to follow along. Definately take her class!
smart, funny, and pretty cute. shes a really intelligent teacher and knows what shes talking about. always has open ears. lectures are very interesting and fun. grades a little hard.
This class was amazing. Prof. Perez is amazing. Easily one of the best courses I've ever taken. The exam essay question is given in advance and she encourages you to email outlines. Plus, she's cute so you can't go wrong :) Go Perez!!
Excellent professor! Yes, she grades a little bit difficult, but stay on top of the reading and come to class(pay attention)and you will do fine. Lectures are outlined on the board; essay questions are given in advance. She is extremely helpful and very knowledgable. Everyone should take her class!
she is one of the best at this university. she is absolutly wonderful. great teacher. she explains and makes you think. the best out there. =
Best Amst Professor I ever took! She's awesome! Difficult in grading but just know you're stuff it's not too bad!
The Best GE I took! LEARNED a hell of a lot and I wanted to come to class. She's one of the best professors on campus. You have a lot of work, but it's worth it!
Great teacher! Stay on top of the reading and actually go to class- but it is interesting. She is a tough grader though.
Wonderful professor. Really pushes you to think "outside the box". Great texts, never a dull moment and tests always fair.
The class is very interesting. Only 2 tests, it isn't harder than any other class.
She made the class very interesting. Her lectures are very well organized and easy to follow. She assigns novels but they are easy reads and interesting also. She grades the exam essays kind of strictly but overall she is fair when she grades. I think she is fabulous and one of the best teachers I've ever had. She's on my top 2.
she is a excellent teacher one of the best teacher that i have taken she is very understand likes to get to know her students you do not give midterms only the final and also some writing assignments but the assighnments are very easy and i always enjoy coming to her class
Hands down the best professor I have ever had. She is very personable, you will love her. She writes all her notes on the board for you so you don't miss a thing. Her lectures were very interesting. I wish she taught more classes.
Great teacher. Very fun and makes class hard but fun at the same time. A LOT of WRITING. Very outspoken class and a lot of in class discussion. Doesn't hurt that she is a little of an eye candy.
No homework, you MUST READ EVERYTHING to get a good grade. I got an 'A.' Two novels, course reader, and online articles available through her website. The tests are based on the novels and the concept for that part of the semester. Short answers are also on the test, taken from what you were assigned to read. Awsome professor! Class was fun!
I got an 'A' in her class. Here's the recipe: read EVERYTHING right on schedule (that is key) and don't leave everything to the last minute. Read the novel(s) at least two weeks before midterm/final. Read every article (though some may not appear on exam) they are interesting to read and make up most of the short IDs. Great professor, take her.
no text. online articles, a lot of reading. dont fall behind or you wont do well. participation is 205 of your grade. and midterm and final are 40% each! read and participate if you want to do well
I wouldn't say this class is easy because there are A LOT to read and you need to know everything inside out in order to do well on midterm/final. She's really nice and helpful though! If you're willing to read and take notes thoroughly, take this class
I admit there were a lot to read but all in all it wasn't that difficult to get an A. You just have to read and think like a college student. Gives possible midterm/final questions so pracitce writing the essay. Helped a lot
Awesome professor! Read all the articles and say something in class each time, and you will at least get a B! No textbook, only 2-3 reading books which you can check out at a library. Very interesting topics. I recommend sitting near the front so you can read everything she writes on the board. 2 tests combined with participation point=your grade
She states upfront that the exams are essays and that they are hard but trust me they only look intimidating and she provides a lot of feedback. Writes lecture in outline style on board which is helpful. The readings are articles and 3 books, but theyre not that hard. Just keep up, attend all classes, ask questions, and participate and you'll be ok
I'm surprised by score on easiness. She's strict and tough on grading essays. It's true that she tells you the possible questions, but a 1hr time limit makes the essay hard. If you participate a lot, it should be easy to pass; however, an A is not an easy thing to get in this class, even with participation. She's nice and funny (lots of sarcasm).
She is amazing. Yes, the class is intimidating and challenging, but so worth it. 2 midterms that each make up 40% of your grade, participation is 20%. Keep up with all the reading. Only 3 books in the semester. Attend class! She is awesome and funny!
She really loves what she teaches. Organized class. She will try and intimidate you especially if you havent done the readings! Tests are pretty hard if your not prepared.
She is an amazing teacher, really knows how to teach and how to get people involved. I would recomend her to anyone. Make sure you attend class and take the notes she puts on the board. Read the two novels all the way through and the classs shouldnt be to hard. Its an easy B if you study.
She is amazing! Her interest in the subject is helpful she keeps us entertained her films are always good! go to class and you'll be fine midterm and a final, I never really read the readings only went to class and skimmed through books she assigned. got a B+ on my midterm and she even said i should be getting an A on my Final. pretty easy :)
Perez is AMAZING! She is really into the subject and it definitely shows. Lots of reading, but most are online and you only have to buy like two novels for the class! Take her if you can!!
She is an awesome professor who knows and loves what she teaches! Grade is based on 2 exams and participation in class. Exams could be challenging because they are divided into essay and ID portions. Heavy reading requirement and definitely not an easy A but it is not impossible.
She's hot, she's cool, and she really gets into her lectures, she's a great professor. 2 exams and 2 novels. She grades pretty hard, so study for exams. If you don't your screwed. But yeah it was a very interesting class and make sure to read those novels.
Best teacher I've ever had! I learned so much, she grades tough, but it's college guys. Read the material, go to class, take notes and you will pass with shining grades. She's an entertaining and engaging professor and very funny. You won't be sorry.
Do the reading, ask questions, GET INVOLVED and this class will fly by. Lectures can get very lively if the class isn't a bashful group. Dr. Perez knows her stuff, so don't be afraid to ask questions if anything is unclear.
The class is interesting and the teacher is nice, but when it comes to the midterm she is insane! The midterm is much too demanding and the difficulty level is a 10. There seems to be no way to pass the class unless you get a C on the midterm, which she said is relatively difficult. Don't take this class unless you want to be overwhelmed.
She is an amazing professor and she knows what she is talking about but she grades pretty tough. As long as you keep up with the readings, take notes, and participate in class, you should be fine :) Also, she really likes it when students are super creative and thinks outside the box, even if the idea may be super unorthodox.
This class really stressed me out in terms of its exams, however don't let the difficulty level discourage you from taking this amazing class! It's soooo interesting and she is a great professor. Definitely take any opportunity to get help for the in class essay and short answers. Do the readings on time and you'll be fine :) a must take!
She is by far the best professor I've ever had at CSUF. She is passionate about what she teaches, and adds that humor and liveliness that will make you just love the class. Yes, her tests are not the easiest thing, but she offers all the resources needed (if she offers help before the exams GO TO THEM!) to get a good grade. Definitely recommend!
Best professor I have ever had since attending csuf. MUST TAKE HER! She rules! She makes Amst so interesting and I would always attend class because I looked forward to it... and im serious. Everybody take this class. You will love it, she is very helpful with everything.
Dr. Perez is an incredible professor! She teaches so well and is really passionate about the material. Her readings are dense and you MUST keep up on them in order to receive a good grade in the class. But if you can look past that, she is an incredible professor and you will really enjoy learning this particular subject from her.
Hands down the best lecturer I ever had. The test are only challenging not hard at all. Just ace the short identifications so you can just blow through the essay. Also highly recommend you actually attend class, the articles are like 90% covered by her lectures alone so you don't have to completely read them just skim them.
This class is not an easy class. This is a college course. She's a amazing lecturer. I recommend doing discussion boards. Read all the articles and books required. Once she gives you the prompt do an outline and show it to her. Study, participate, and come to class. Don't take this class online b/c she grades for grammar/spelling and timed.
She really knows how to teach ! Many people do not go to her office hours but i highly recommend it because if you have questions on the study guide she will literally give you the answer. She is very caring and always tries to talk to you and make sure that you are doing well. The essay if you make a detailed outline you will ace the essay.
DO NOT TAKE PLZ. There is soooo much reading, you have to put in at least 3-4 hours of reading a week plus you only have one week to read a 300 page book. AND THE TESTS ARE SO HARD. They are two days long because thats how much you apparently need to know.
Amazing lectures and discussions. Very INTERESTING! But this class involves a lot of reading. Two novels and about 3 long articles each week. The test is challenging but not hard. She tells provides 3 prompts the week before the tests. The day of the test she picks 1 of the 3 prompts. The tests last 2 days, one day essay & day 2 short answers.
Although this class required a lot of reading, it was still very fun. She is super hilarious and makes the class interesting. I honestly didn't read none of the assigned books, just some of the articles, and I still passed with decent grades. Overall, TAKE HER!!!
My favorite professor thus far at CSUF. She is a great lecturer and picks interesting topics to discuss. It is a lot of reading but just stay on top of it and you will be fine. I would take her again.
She is a great professor who really makes all of her lectures fun, interesting, and lively. She loves to throw curve balls so show up to class! She intimidating for if you do not follow her instructions on tests, you will fail. There is alot of reading and two big books, but interesting. Honestly do bare minimum of requirement and you will get a C.
Lots of reading each week + 2 novels for the midterm & final as your only grade. A little bit of a hard grader but she tells you specifically what she wants. DO NOT FALL BEHIND ON THE READINGS! You need to read in order to pass. You will regret it! Although she was still fun and made class very interesting! Take her if you dont mind reading?
Ms. Perez is a great professor but get ready to read! Approximately 4 articles per week + 1 novel before each exam. 1 midterm, 1 final, and participation. Lectures are super interesting! She is ready to help you, I would definitely take her again!
she's an amazing teacher and this class was one of the most interesting classes I took but if you're taking this class just for credit and are looking for an easy one then you might not like this class! It did get a little bit stressful because she tries to scare you into reading for the midterm and final but relax its not as hard as she says.
This class was amazing, Amanda is an amazing teacher. Lectures were exciting. Readings were challenging but very interesting. Remember to keep up with the readings and filling in your study guide weekly and you will do fine. Seriously this class taught me so much and i will remember it forever!
Great professor, interesting material - horrible class. The most reading I've ever done for any class, and I'm an English major. If you have a light schedule, take at your own risk, but otherwise, avoid. Grade depends mostly on 2 horrifying exams that are based almost exclusively on the excessive reading material. Again, great teacher, awful class.
Makes you work for your grade. A LOT of reading but she's a fair professor. As long as you keep up with the reading you should be fine. Midterm and final are creating essay therefore they are not that difficult, AGAIN, as long as you keep up with the readings. Great professor and a superb personality. She's a very positive person.
This was definitely one of my favorite classes I've taken. Amanda is such an interesting character and always kept the lectures fun and hilarious. The subject itself is actually interesting as well. The only homework given is reading, A LOT OF READING. I didn't do any of the readings and almost failed the class. Reading easy pass
Prof. Perez is a really great professor. Her lectures are very engaging and interesting. She gives a lot of reading so make sure to stay on top of it and to take notes on everything you read. Her midterm and final is short answer and essay. Everything on the exams are from the reading and from class lectures. Tough grader but the class is great!
By far one of the most interesting classes I have ever taken. Articles are assigned every week and she gives you a sort of study guide for the midterm and final at the beginning of the semester. Professor Perez is engaging and her personality makes the class so much more fun. I would take this class again!
Her class was so much fun. When we were not doing lectures, we were either watching films related to the chapter or having class discussions. She is a sweet lady and made the material interesting. The tests (midterm and final) were pretty difficult, be sure to always attend class.
Professor Perez is an amazing! Class was very interesting, good jokes, and loved how she gives you a chance to participate on the online discussions every week if you didn't want to participate in class. I had to work hard for my grade, but it paid off! Make sure to do all the readings on time! DON'T PROCRASTINATE! :)
Professor Amanda is really knowledgeable and makes class much more fun with her stories that relate to what the topic we are discussing. Her class is simple, but much effort is needed to get a good grade. 1 Essay Midterm, 1 Essay Final, and Participation is what you are graded on. Articles and book are needed to be read for each essay.
Prof. Perez is great professor, she knows her stuff and is very helpful. Her class is really interesting. It consists of 2 Essays (Midterm & Final) and Short answer questions. You will definitely have to do the readings of the articles she post online because you will have to use them for your essays. But other than that, the class was pretty easy
Easily the best class I ever took at Cal State Fullerton was with Professor Perez. Class is not your typical "Women in American History" but much more interesting. However, you must make an effort to succeed in the class; graded on Midterm essay, Final Essay, and Participation. Keep up with the readings and actively listen and you'll be fine!
She is energetic and wants you to participate. All the things you talk about are taboo, but she makes it fun. You have to read two novels. Final and midterm are hard. Two parts to each: 1 essay & IDs. If you read all the articles she provides you'll be fine. She is very approachable, but tough grader. Speak your mind she'll appreciate it.
Prof. Perez is amazing. I was hesitant to take this class given her reviews and my lack of reading comprehension skill, but honestly, the reading is VERY interesting and she gives a clear layout of what to look for in the articles. Im not a fan of reading, but this class was very enjoyable and interesting. Plus Perez is so funny!
Very good professor, entertaining to go to class, but grading is based off of the midterm, final, and participation. Very lecture heavy and a lot of reading; while she provides a fairly detailed study guide for both midterm and final, the grading is still really hard. Both exams are an essay and short ID answers
Sister Amanda makes you read a lot, but the readings are so interesting and encourage critical thinking. Her class was one of my favorites because she is hilarious and there isnt a lot to be graded on. If you want to learn, like to read, dont get test anxiety, and enjoy humor, take her class.
2 interesting novels and weekly articles, a challenging class but all do-able. You gotta work for it prepping study guides on your own. Interesting class since we go over taboo topics. She's funny but also really clear w/ how she grades so as long as you complete all that's expected to be done you'll be fine! Highly recommend to the creative-minded
One of the best professors at CSUF! We cover a lot of controversial topics in class, there are readings for every section that you have to read but are all interesting, the class consists of a midterm, final, and weekly online forum question. Cares about her students, passionate, and absolutely hilarious. I would recommend this class to anyone.
Amanda was a great professor. Every class was enjoyable. Make sure to keep up with reading the articles. The midterm and final are both a little difficult if you don't pay attention in class or don't read. She's willing to help anyone who asks for it. Participation makes the class more fun.
SUCH an entertaining professor! Gave great lectures and really made them her own. You have to read 2 books throughout the semester to be tested on them during the midterm/final. No homework, but 1 simple writing assignment, and 2 exams with an in-class essay and short answer questions. 100% would take a class with her again!
Amanda is such a great professor and her lectures were well layed out. She is hilarious and gives the study guides at the beginning of the semester. We also only had to read 2 books for the semester. The test consist of an essay and short answer questions.
I absolutely LOVED Amanda! She makes lecture super entertaining and manages to not get off topic. I would highly recommend anyone to take one of her classes! I learned a lot and would definitely take one of her classes again!
Professor Perez is one of the BEST professors for teaching this course. She makes it educational in a fun and hilarious manner. Her wacky personas are what helped me truly understand the course. You must show up and read what is assigned if you want to pass. Her finals are based off of everything thats dicussed, but are so fun to do thanks to her.
Hands down the BEST professor I've ever had. She teaches in a hilarious way, encourages participation, and the content is always interesting. We read two books but they're really good ones. There was never a dull day in class with her and she's a reasonable grader. Attendance is crucial to pass though because the midterm/final are from lecture.
I am taking this course fully online. Highly recommend her. Professor Perez gives the best feedback I think I have ever received in college. She really cares about every post and paper you write because she will always leave positive feedback and also feedback helping you write better. We do read a lot during the week, but nothing too crazy.
BEST PROFESSOR AT CSUF! So funny, genuine, and caring I seriously want to be her friend. Her lectures are amazing and I've learned so much from her. Only the midterm and the final for grades, both consist of an in-class essay and free response. There is a lot of reading but everything is worth the read and so enlightening. Please take her!!!
Take her in person over online. You will read a lot, but it's interesting and necessary for the exams. Two exams, two books. She is genuinely a great lecturer and loves a talkative class. I studied hard for the exam and got an A. You must follow all directions and have every single source with explanations ready. Your grade depends on your effort.
I took this class online and it was DIFFICULT. Total of 4 papers, 2 part midterm & final (essay & short answer), plus discussion boards & 3-4 really long readings weekly. I definitely was not expecting this intense of a workload for an online class. Prof. Perez gives good feedback but I felt overwhelmed with the amount of work for this one class.
Prof Perez is something else! I loved her class, highly recommended. Just be ready to read two novels. Also her tests are a little on the difficult side but as long as you study you should be fine. She is amazing!! If I could take her again, I will.
THE BEST professor I have had at CSUF so far! She is so passionate about what she teaches and the class was super interesting. I would take her class every semester if I could. Beware there is a heavy amount of reading for the class and the tests are based on the readings and lectures. You have to work for a good grade but it is definitely worth it
This was a strictly an online class. Online classss are my least favorite but Dr Perez class was the best one ive had ! She qas very well organized and you have the readings up for the semester. Since it is an online class you have alot of reading but she so includes podcast and short flims which are great! Totally recommend her.
The tests are essays and she requires them to be at least 8 paragraphs. The prompts are really weird but she gives really good feedback (multiple paragraphs). Two novels are required but theyre easy reads. Lots of readings but never discussed in class but you need to know about a few for the tests. Interesting lectures and lots of in-class films.
An amazing teacher that really challenges you to critically think about your writing and offers tons of additional support. This is a reading heavy class along with 2-3 films to write an essay on. Only downside is that the Professor is a tough grader even on discussion posts but doesn't really tell you what you did wrong sometimes.
For this class being online, I was not sure what to expect but overall she is a great professor. Lectures had little to no voice-overs, just PowerPoint slides. Lots of readings but it is important to read to do well on exams. 2 film analysis, 2 short ID exams, and 2 essay exams. Interesting class, good feedback, if you do the work you will pass.
Amazing!! She is super nice and cares a lot about her students. You have a discussion post and one response due every week. You have two film analysis papers. Both midterm and final consist of a short ID exam portion and an essay. She provides study guides for them as the exams are based on the assigned readings. The class is fun!!
Amazing professor. Lots of reading/movies/podcasts, but content was very interesting so I didn't mind. 1 midterm, 1 final (free response & essay). You can tell how passionate she is about teaching. Gives REAL constructive feedback and truly one of the best professors at CSUF.
I took this class based off of the positive reviews but I honestly felt misled. For a GE class, this class required a little much content every week. You also have to do 2 essays during the semester, apart from the midterm essay and final essay. Essay prompts have lots of requirements. Exams are short answer and she doesnt give enough time
Toss up, good prof, but also a good source of my crying. There was a lot of work overall especially the exams. I think I'm too hard on myself so the 5-8 pages you need for the essays was always 8 for me. This class was definitely stressful and you need to do ALL the readings and videos to do well on exams
At first, this class was thoroughly enjoyable and Perez made the topics very interesting to learn and write about. Then came the midterm. In my opinion, she expects way too much for a GE class. Took six classes this semester, got A's in all of them, but a B for this one. Put it this way, I cried during the final. And I'm crying rn at my ruined GPA.
Prof Perez was amazing. She made being in an online class enjoyable. The course load is pretty extensive, but it's manageable. Timed midterm and final were a little difficult, but not impossible. Discussion posts were very interesting. Course overall was very eye-opening and fun. She was very kind and gave excellent feedback weekly.
A good amount of reading/videos/podcasts to do each week that correlates to the discussion post due on Fridays. Have to write 2 out of 4 options of reflection papers. Paper & timed short answer for midterm and final. It may seem like a lot, but it's all about time management. She responds quickly to emails and is sweet and caring. Loved her!
I LOVE PROFESSOR PEREZ! Taking classes during a pandemic is stressful, but Professor Perez helped us get through it. 2 exams: 1 midterm and 1 final. Both consisted of writing a paper and taking a short answer exam. Weekly discussions, super easy and fun topics where you just give your opinion. 2 reflection papers. SO glad I took this course. :)
Prof Perez has been the most wonderful prof I have had by far at CSUF. She is such an amazing resource. I was nervous to take an immigrants class because I am not really a debate or one side preacher kind of person, but I never felt like she told us her opinion. It was always A THIRD PERSON open perspective for both sides. Overall just amazing!
The BEST Prof Ive had at CSUF. She's very personable, neutral, and never condescending. She has a passion for what she teaches and it shows! Grade consists of 20% participation (in class & 1 paper) and 2 Exams at 40% each. Each exam is 2 parts (at home paper and in class short answer part) Show up, listen, do the at home reading and you'll do great
Professor Perez is such an amazing professor who gave the best lectures. Her class was never boring and I would look forward to it because of how interesting it was. She is so passionate about teaching, but the midterm/final are tough. You need to spend a lot of time and effort on them, but the class is so worth it.
Professor Perez is very kind; however, she expects too much for a GE class. The midterm/ final consist of a timed short answer quiz and a 5-6 pg essay that you only have 2 days to work on. The class is simple you have weekly discussion posts & 2 essays (not including midterm/ final) to complete throughout the semester. Her grading is just intense.
Lectures are interesting and all, but everything she discusses will be in the exam or paper (literally EVERYTHING). Students are graded by in-class/online discussion, 1 short paper, 2 longer papers, 2 short answer exams (no study guide, you must DIY). Her expectation is too high for a GE class. Not recommended, don't let her good rating fool you.
Amazing lectures and an amazing class. Readings every week that you will need to write an essay on later. There are two of these. There are two large essays (6-8) pages but she gives great prompts. No weekly hw; only con is the readings which can add up but you can skate by by skimming.
AN ANGEL ON EARTH! I love her. However, her exams and essays are tough. They're not impossible and she gives points where she can if you did not do that great, but they're tough.
Professor Perez has great knowledge on Women and Gender studies. However, she grades far too hard for a GE class. Discussion posts are graded critically, grades based on tests primarily. Papers are too demanding for the short window of time allowed. Grading was particularly scrutinizing!
AMAZING PROFESSOR!! this is one of my not so good subjects and was dreading taking this course. Professor Perez is an angel on earth and made me look forward going to class :) she is fair on essays and exams, and truly supports the students and gives great feedback. highly recommend
(Test Tip: Reading the articles is great to study w/ aside from the study guide she provides, I answered a lot of Q's from those.) Lectures are very fun, especially if you enjoy the topic. Not a heavy workload, the only thing you're worrying about is the discussions and exams. Essay is easy, you can choose 1/4 topics to write about in the semester.
i loved the material from the class, very interesting and relevant. fair grader and awesome feedback. however i found short answer exams so difficult but she gives points where she can. i loved reading her comments, constructive critcism. class was asynch but excited to take her in person next sem. really creative and fun papers too
Her personality is worth it! She has a wonderful personality and truly cares and loves teaching her students. There is a single paper through the semester, a weekly discussion, and 2 papers, one for the midterm and final. The papers, despite being somewhat long, are worth it. Her prompts are fun and get you to enjoy writing! Take her, she is great!
Prepare to write a 8 pages essay AND short written response only exams
Professor Perez is knowledgeable, but the class is quite demanding. Lots of reading, discussions, and tough exams/papers. However, she gives helpful feedback and is willing to work with students. I used unstuck ai for study prep, which was a lifesaver.
I loved this class! It was a lot of reading, but I found the material to be captivating. Exams are short answer and timed, but if you study the materials and fill out the study guide you should be fine. She was also extremely caring and accommodating.
One of the best professors I have ever had. She is very funny and entertaining. Try no to miss her classes specially around exams because she gives clues. For the short answer of her exams, read the assigned material and pay attention to the names and characters, she will quiz on details from them. Overall a solid professor.
Very tough grader. Lots of reading. She can assume you used AI for sounding "too smart" or something. Her midterm and final are very difficult. She says it's multiple choice, but it's actually a multiple-choice word problem. Essays are just a yap fest with a weird prompt, and it just doesn't make sense. Avoid class.
Professor Amanda is super kind and passionate. Her class has fun prompts, but there's a lot of reading and she grades tough. Midterm/final are tricky word-problem style. She may question writing that sounds “too polished.” Great prof, just not an easy A.
Professor Perez is very nice professor with clear guidelines for assignments and grading. Her weekly forums are easy to get a good grade on if you write a lot and express your opinion. The exams are harder, with a timed short answer and essay. But if you make your own study guide and know the sources well you will pass both.
I wouldn't recommend taking this class at all. The grading is really harsh. One should think like a feminist or pro-women in their discussions and exams. There are two assignments at the midterm and final exam, both of which are written: one is a written exam that is timed, and the other is an essay.
345: No textbook, but weekly lectures along w/ outside sources (articles, films, podcasts). MAKE SURE you read the other sources, exams are based ENTIRELY on these!!! Weekly discussions. 1 paper. 2 exams, each has 2 parts- short answer & essay. Short answer is difficult if you don't know your stuff. Prof is SO sweet, helpful, & gives good lectures!
The course is very challenging with a heavy workload & strict grading. The final was difficult & controversial; with no grade rounding offered most students ended with a C. Expectations felt more suited for a major level class. If you're looking for an easier grade or lighter workload, this may not be the best choice. Be prepared for high demands.
Not particularly difficult, but lots of reading and writing. Make sure you actually read the weekly material and listen to lectures, as these are the only things on the exams. Very helpful and happy to give good feedback and study tips, plus she's entertaining. Attendance not mandatory but wouldn't recommend skipping.
fully online, she has a tough rubric and multiple texts for assignments. hard deadlines but she does provide a lot of feedback or tell you where you missed points. class itself is pretty fun and nuanced (not just history based) so a lot of it is graded on your conceptual understanding which is also better imo. fairly decent class
DO. NOT. TAKE. THIS. CLASS. I repeat, do not take this course for your GE credit. I found a recommendation online for this class and was supposedly an "easy A", no. The prof is an extremely hard grader, ridiculously so. Also a useless topic, there are much easier classes to take to get your GE credit. Trust me. Do not make my same mistake.
For a GE class, this was wayyy too much. Grading was EXTREMELY harsh, not enough time for quizzes/exams, super long time waiting for scores, LOTS of reading, minimal feedback, and always accused class of using AI. Would not take again :(
Her class is super easy if you actually listen to her. Weekly participation, 2 short-answer exams, and 3 papers, in which you can write without sticking to a specific format or having to cite, and she literally says "write the way you speak, it's more fun and I know you're not using AI." Everyone hating lowkey might be slow lol.
If you're looking for a class to breeze through... this isn't a class for you. Content is interesting, and she makes the learning fun and understandable. BUT Each week there's 3-4 readings, and the Midterm/Final essays are extremely intense. she gives less than 2 days to write a 10 page paper that you don't know the instructions for until it opens.
