She explains the daily lab well and takes you through the steps one by one before you actually do it. When needing help, she is there asap to guide you where you are having difficulties. She does speak a little fast while making a quick lecture, but there are diagrams and explanations on the board to make sure you understand.

This is a grest professor! She is very helpful and very clear about your work. She goes through all the labs step by step so that everyone understand them before doing them. She also gives study guides for her tests which are also very easy. Definetly take her!

Highly recommend!!! Likes to go through the lab before you start and she's always around if you need help. I think I learned more about mitosis from her lab class than my actual lecture class. Labs tend to be on the long side, but it's not her fault because she doesn't pick them.

Sometimes, the lectures are boring (but that's pretty much any college course). Mandy is very helpful. She goes out of her way to get to know the students and tries to help them succeed in the class. The class material is difficult and complex, but her teaching skills are A+. She gives different examples of complex concepts to help you learn.

This is a very tough course, especially for being a 100-level. However, Professor Ross is a very nice, genuine who'll help you if there are concepts that are difficult to understand. Go to office hours, study the power points and go to class and you'll be fine.

This class was extremely tough! If you do not have interest in science I do not recommend taking this class. As a professor she is fine. She makes class interesting and is sort of helpful. Because, if you do go and see her she will answer any question you have. However, you may have to wait for an hour in a line of 5 people to see her.

She uses powerpoint notes always and tests over them, not the book. Just add minor things she says to the notes and you will do perfectly fine!

Very nice teacher and very helpful. She has a bright a bubbly personality! Knows her information, but tends to get off topic during lectures. Some topics she struggled at explaining, but overall she was good! Tests can be tricky, but she offers bonus questions. My only complaint is she does whole letter grades which I find very unfair.

If you're taking bio & lab, take the lab with Holly Little (just a heads up; she makes sure the lab material corresponds with Dr. Ross' lectures). Both Dr. Ross and Dr. Little are pretty cool. As for Dr. Ross, she is so kind and funny. She'll keep you engaged, BUT if you have questions, ASK. It is way too easy to fall behind, so be on your A game.

I really enjoyed her class. If you do not understand something, GO SEE HER. She is so helpful and has tips to help you remember information. It may seem like a hard class, but just study her notes. Her great personality makes the class go by super fast. I would recommend taking her!

Mandy is so nice and welcoming! I was so nervous to take BIO 111 but she is an amazing prof! Her tests are pretty hard but if you come to class, and take notes you will be fine. She summarizes everything so its easy to understand! She does love pop quizzes though... I will be taking her again for other science classes!!

Mandy is such a wonderful professor. All of the homework is done online and she sets clear due dates. Her tests are not bad as long as you pay attention during class. Attendance is not mandatory but it is essential to getting an A. Also I personally never used the book but she does reference it during lectures and could be helpful for tests.

I received a 79.26 and she wouldn't raise it to a B. She follows her syllabus and won't change grades at the end. Her tests are hard. I probably studied everyday for 3 hours for her exams and never got above an 85. I would take her again because she really cares about her class, but she's a hard grader!!

I absolutely loved the online format of this class. We were given one lecture video and some hw assignments each week, which made studying super easy. We had four exams in total. I totally loved her class but be warned, it is very difficult. I learned a lot but studied most of the week for two weeks before each exam (at least 8hrs/week). There were 4 exams, one group project, and a final exam along with some homework. Most of the grade is based on exams. Avoid her if you don't study but take her class if you love ecology.

Class is very independent. You take your notes based off of slideshow and what the professor says. Homework is mandatory and will help understanding the material. Study guides for the four exams are very basic and exams are very detailed. Textbook is not required but can help with studying.

She was very kind and understanding. A tough grader, but if you paid attention, take good notes, and do the study guide you'll be fine. Would definitely take her again!

The best professor I've had hands down. I have learned so much from her and you can tell she loves her job and students. I will admit her exams are very hard but she gives you absolutely everything you could need to succeed. (great study guides, practice questions, extra videos and more) Take mandy for sure :)

Prof. Ross is one of my favorite professors at SVSU. She is extremely personable, kind, and organized with what is expected of you. Her exams are hard, but if you study for a couple of days you will do fine. I really recommend going to class because she will tell you what you need to know. Do ALL study guides as it makes studying for final easier.

Mandy is super helpful and cares about your grades as long as you do. She is very willing to help out if you are struggling, and she makes lectures entertaining and memorable. Even with more complicated topics, she still makes it fun and easy to learn. There are 4 exams plus a final, 5 exams total, but she had some extra credit opportunities.

Prof Ross was easily my favorite professor I've ever had- she is very professional but kind and inspirational to students, makes you want to learn, even if it isn't biology. I didn't even do well in her class (personal health issues-not an issue due to her), and I just don't have enough typing space for all of the good things I have to say.

Very sweet and a good teacher

I am an early college student, and I found this class enjoyable but difficult. She is a great professor, i just struggled putting the PowerPoints to the study guides.

Very fun lecturer, takes a lot of information and makes it easy to digest. Took this class as a Gen Ed and do not regret it.

Loved her, my favorite professor

Loved her for biology. Exams and quizzes match the study guides pretty well and she genuinely cares about her students. Attendance is not mandatory but would recommend going, it is helpful. Gives extra credit opportunities.

Mandy is an amazing instructors. Her lectures are great and her exams correlate perfectly with what she's teaching. Her exams also have opportunities to recover points. Overall, she's very passionate about what she teaches and I'd love to have her again. The textbook is needed for her homework but its not hard if you read the material.
