Amanda was a nice lady, but her lectures went somewhat too far into detail. Exams were quite difficult. I would recommend not being absent because you will miss a lot of notes. This class requires a lot of studying, not an easy class at all.
She is a fun and interesting professor. She gives a lot of information but in good note form. You have to work hard to get an A. Lots of extra credit and lab is pretty fun. Don't take if you want an easy A
Amanda is very nice and a very fair teacher. If you show her that you're trying, she will help you out big time. There aren't many teachers like her. I have lots of respect for her, and I was impressed with how much I learned and how my interest grew in biology. I highly recommend her, but beware - she will not let you slack off, so study hard!
She is friendly but gives out a TON of work. Quiz every monday and her tests are hard BUT she gets 90% of her test questions from the cd that comes with your book :) i just realized this and got an A on my last exam! Not an easy A..unless you use your cd!
Very funny and helpful. Good notes
she is the worst teacher i've ever had
Not happy at all with her teaching... She would show up to class 15-20 min every class. Her test were the worst i have ever taken. There are no quizes so you have to rember 2 months of chapters at a time. By the time the you take the test good luck remembering graphs and tables 2 months befor. There is a take home quiz and the highest grade was88%
Dont get me wrong, she is a nice lady.. but not very good at teaching. Im lucky I got a B-. Her test are HARD. When in lab, a boy had a better graph than me, all clean, neat and so he let us go ahead of him b/c we didnt want to look bad... we ended up getting full points and he got marked down for idk. I do not recomend her.
TONS of homework... at LEAST 20 hours a week. Not kidding at all. Test=Hell. Take a different teacher.
She seems nice to all her students but she's VERY hard on them. Her tests are very difficult and she even gives essay writings on her tests. Her single test contains 100-130 multiple choice, tables to fill out, and 20-25-point essay writings/short answers. She can be approachable but she's inconsiderate. I don't recommend her to anyone.
I HIGHLY recommend another teacher if you are taking micro bio. Her lectures were absolutely ridicules. Very UN professional showing up late every class. At least 20 hrs of homework a week. Tests were very hard. She gives no quizzes so if you do bad on the test, you will do bad in the class...
DO NOT take this class if you have a job... I had to quit my job, otherwise i would of failed... even with quiting my job i got a C+. Find another teacher
WOW........ find another professor....
AVOID this teacher at all costs, and SHAME on Macomb for letting her teach microbiology. I strongly recommend take another teacher. The entire test is really heard she gated from test bank. She never turns back all of the lab and homework (essay) on time. She seems nice to all her students but she's VERY hard on them. So please don?t spend your tim
VERY HARD TEST! Shows up late everyclass, NO quizes to help your grade. Most of all the labs are full credit or none at all. i HIGHLY reccomend another teacher...
AVOID this teacher i STRONGLY reccomend another teacher...
TAKE A DIFFERENT TEACHER!!! Her demands all your work be in proper grammar and spelling but NONE OF HIS WILL! Her instructions are clear as mud and try asking for an explanation. What a joke. Take her only if you can teach yourself.
i dont think i learned anything, the last week of class i was still trying to understand what she was talking about the first week... im just happy im done with this class and i got by with a C. Poor teaching. just look what everyone is saying...
i agree with everyone saying, she is terrible teacher at MCC
she's a nightmare. she made this class horrible. dont take a class instructed by her!
Hardest class I have taken and thank god I got an A! Most of us that made it through the class got As and Bs. She will help you if you help yourself and ask questions. Much better the center campus microbiology professor
anyone can read slide show notes..... not helpfull at all, shows up late, 30 hrs of homework a week, what a joke for teaching...
not a good teacher.. very hard.. gives u tons of assignment.. 5 essays every test.. she'll give you 15 essays to study only 3 or 5 she picks.. Dont take her class if you dont want to waste your money and time.. Don't give extra credit either.
She is a new teacher. Give her time to come into her own teaching style. She is hard but you also learn if you are alert in class and do your work.
The subject matter is difficult. Her teaching is great. Test are multiple choice, and students are allowed to skip several of their own choosing. There are essays, and she gives advanced notice of possible questions to help with studies. And yes, grammer is important, but not a sticking point. If one must take Micro, I highly recommend her.
Amanda is a great teacher. She is very helpful when you dont understand something. Her test are not easy, but they are multiple choice and essay. she does tell you the possible essay questions a head of time. I would recommend her class to anyone. Just make sure you read the chapters and ask questions.
she is a tought teacher but looks out for the students. tests are hard but other class work will raise your grade. obviously anyone with half a brain can pass her class since most of my class got A's. you just need to study and ask questions
Good teacher if you trully want to learn. Hard class but if you put forth the effort you can get an A. Study and you will pass.
Much clearer than teacher who taught first half of the semester. NOtes are powerpoints and have lots of interesting animal stories. Tests are tough but many questions from quizzes are on the exams. wish she taught the entire section!
Amanda knows her stuff. She is a great instructor. I highly recommend her. You must attend class and study a lot. She is very helpful when you do not understand. The essay questions are tough but you leave the class with a strong understanding of Micro. Highly recommend her!
Find a different professor if you can, she is very late on returning papers and projects so you really dont know how well you are doing in the calss, exams are hard, dont give you any hint is to what will be on the exam, 3 to 4 chapter test and need to know all for tests, not helpfull at all, dont recomend..
I'm not a big science fan but I have to admit I think I learned a lot from her teaching methods. She knew what she was talking about and I liked that.If your taking env.Science expect a quiz once a week on her notes the class, they are generally easy as long as you study!I loved her, no nonsence & she offers Extra credit if you need it!
Plan on spending 18 hours (that's her recommendation) a week on homework outside of this class. Plan on not getting assignments that were turned in the first couple of weeks until the day after the final. This class was way to much work for the 4 credits...take someone else if you can.
paper that we turned in... either u get them back towards the last 2 weeks of class or NEVER see them again. She takes points out of every assignment. HORRIBLE teacher, i busted my a** off to get an A-. Lots of projects/assignments. how does she rationalize 9.45 out of 10 points.. really was that .55 that necessary to deduct? NOT HELPFUL and lazyy.
this teacher does not care for her students and only cares to find ways to make it hard on you. plan on knowing EVERYTHING on each chapter, her exams and quizzes are worded in ways that are confusing. she takes points off for everythingg! i still passed the class but she just not a good teacher. returns assignments a month later or longer!!
she's not a good teacher. dont count on knowing what ur grade is in the class. she still hasn't submitted grades on WebAdvisor. When the semester ended she still had 5 assignments that have not yet been graded. We get our papers back weeks after its turned in. You dont really know what you have in class and if u ask her she tells u to figure it out
doesn't return hw or projects until its been at least a month. she still hadn't completed grading all the hw she gave us when the semester ended!! she has to be the laziest teacher for taking this long to grade papers. she teaches at south only.. i would recommend taking it at center instead with a more professional teacher.
I thought this professor was the best professor I have had. She made class fun but yet taught me a lot at the same time. I would take a class with her again in the future. She is fair not to hard and easy going. I would take her without any hesitation.
Amanda is a very fair teacher. Her lecturing are interesting but they go very fast. Reading the material ahead of time will help. She is a generous grader, but slow in returning projects. I would definitely recommend her.
tests are very hard, she doesn't review so u don't know wht's on it. she gives you a generalized lecture, but the test is very detailed and the multiple choice is from the textbook, animation videos, and pics from the lab.she gives essay questions. She doesn't give extra credit.she is very picky in lab. you will put a lot of effort into this class.
She could care less, makes her test super hard and re-phrases everything so you can fail. Late answering emails. Lazy and just do not care if you pass or fail.
Lazy and hard she puts all her efforts in making things hard (SUPER HARD TESTS)for you so you can FAIL....DROP OR WITHDRAW QUICK.
Honestly these students that complain must not have had a TURE bad professor.. It's called MICRO! meaning you actually have to sit down and study.. compared to other professors she knows her material, speaks English, a little intimidating but very nice towards you as long as you show respect towards her.
Nice teacher, you got to study to pass her class. Not an easy class, she is tough!! Test and exams are tough!! Like I said you have to study!!
this teacher is good but at the same time there is bad sides if class which her exams are extremly hard she takes points off everything dont help you at all and don't like to answer questions, return papers after a month and not all of them
she is not an easy teacher, but she is very fair. quiz are a little hard but the tests are cool because you get 120 questions but you only have to answer 100 so you get to skip the 20 you dont know!! i pulled of an A in the class due to lots of studying 15-20+ hours a week. she speaks perfect english. not an easy class, but a good professor
She is very approachable, makes it SEEM like the class is gonna be fun and interesting. She is Absolutely NO HELP! Not only are her exams extremely and unecessarily hard, but she tricks you!! You study it in lecture and out of the book one way; then she turns around and switch answers and word the test to where it is almost impossible understanding
She flies through lectures shes lazy and macomb should find someone else to teach the course
she is one of a kind. so professsional, easy person, encouraging, but you have to study to pass b/cos the course is too vast with so much infor. and needs to sacrifies much time to flow in class. Quizes and exams are prety much conceptual and lectures are quite interesting b/cos it entails real life. I like pro. talbot b/cos she made me study.
She comes across as being very friendly and helpful, don't be fulled. You ask questions and she is very sarcastic when answering. The only way to earn any extra points is to score over 100% on all tests and quizzes. It is very difficult to get all points on assignments which are needed when trying to make up for very difficult tests and quizzes.
Micro is a tough class, to understand it you have to study. If you go into it knowing you're not going to read the book or go over the notes, you won't do well even with a good teacher. Amanda is a good prof and really willing to answer questions and help students understand the material. There's a few exams, lab every class meeting, and a project.
Loved everything about class and professor, difficult but what bio class isnt. Anybody that complains about class or professor needs to go back to elementary school. Haters are obviously lazy and not ready to be challenged. She is here to teach not baby sit, show some effort w/homework & labs, pay attention to lectures and you'll get an A!
8 week online class. Did not meet her in person but seems nice. About 25hrs a week dedicated to this class alone. Expect to cover the entire textbook. I learned a lot about ENVS. Tests were hard. She will drop the lowest test score, but no extra credit. It was hard work but I loved the class!
Amanda is a great professor. She is clear with her expectations. There are a lot of points in this class, so you have wiggle room if you accidentally bomb an exam/quiz. Plus she drops the lowest quiz and exam. She's a great professor, but this is a difficult class. If you work hard enough, you can easily get an A.
I really enjoyed this class. Just know that you will have to study, a lot. The material is interesting and there is a fair amount of review from Into to Bio. Prof. Talbot is extremely fair. Try to do well on the first 3 exams, so you don't have to take the final.
Despite the popular opinion, Professor Talbot is not a bad teacher. Micro is hard, DUH its an upper level bio class. What do you exect?! I got an A in her class. She is very fair. You have to study and read the book in order to pass. I would suggest getting the online learnsmart material, without it I wouldn't have passed
If you take her general micro class then expect to do fairly poor because her exams are extremely hard and she tricks you on every question. The amount of work she expects you to do is unbelievable and don't expect her to help you because she is lazy. I would not take her again and I advise you drop out if you can
An instructor who knows her material, and is passionate about the subject, down to its core. Her general Micro class is very much a prep class for the rigorous medical programs whose admissions hinge on her thorough curriculum and honest grading. You will not pass this class without a fully competent understanding of the subject- as it should be.
I knew going into this class that it was going to be hard and I would have to study many hours a week. Amanda is very helpful when it comes to answeringyour questions. She hints at what essays are going to be on the test, which is nice, but her tests are very hard and very confusing. My 3rd year at macomb, have a 3.5, after this Sem i wont anymore.
Not the best professor, you wont know your average grade not even till the withdraw date. So you wont be able to decide if you want to drop your course or not. I will never take her again.
I was amazed at how much Amanda made me enjoy micro. This was my 3rd time taking it but first time at a community college. I truly enjoyed her and compared to Wayne State the class was fairly easy. I wouldn't expect it to be a easy A since it is a Micro class. I would definitely take her again
Prof. Talbot is a good teacher and very helpful. The class itself is hard, make sure to study and you will be ok.
Horrible class, uncaring teacher, no study guides, unhelpful, tells students to drop since they obviously can't handle her class. when asked for help all you get are rude or repetitive comments about how bad a student you are since you can't pass the class or do better on tests. I never had gotten a grade this bad in a class before. STAY AWAY!!!!
She is very sarcastic when you ask for help and make you feel like you're the dumb one for asking for help in the first place. Very lazy and unwilling to answer any questions and gets sassy and rude if you don't understand something. No study guides and she stated that she purposely makes the test hard so students get tricked and do badly.
Amanda/Mandy Talbot is the best professor I've had online in 2 1/2 years. I do not like science, and she has made me semi-interested. She is passionate, an experienced teacher, and makes personal comments on assignments. She is organized, relaxed, yet it is important to her. She allows late work without taking points off. She wants you to learn.
I walked into this class expecting a high C or a B because science is not my best subject, and everyone says Microbiology is very hard. Amanda made me enjoy her class, her lectures were not boring. Her exams are hard, but if you study and do the online mastering you can get an A. You have to work for your grades, I ended up with an A no problem.
Amanda is a great professor. I highly recommend her for this class. Makes lectures actually fun and intersting. Grades strictly, but as long as you do your hmwrk and use the Mastering site, you will do fine. This class is VERY VERY time consuming; I don't recommend taking with full load of courses.
The lectures are long but informational, she makes sure you know what she is talking about before she moves on. The thing that really makes her a tough teacher is she lets students know in advance she isn't there for them. IF you need help don't ask her because she doesn't care if you are having a tough time. She'll just tell you to drop the class
She is a great professor. Lectures are interesting, tests are fair and lab is fun. Honestly one of the best classes I've taken. She tells you what to expect. Yes the class is super hard but she gives you what you need to pass.
I really enjoyed this class. She made the material easy to understand and the labs were really fun. You grade is based off of a lot of different assignments, quizzes, and tests, so it's not to difficult to do well in her class. I highly recommend her for microbiology.
I took Mrs. Talbot online. She was very willing to answer questions and help at any point. You definitely need to work for your A, there is a lot of work involved through the online program, "WileyPlus." A very cool aspect of the class was the environmental experience journal; it involved going to a park. I ended up earning extra points on it!
I had her for Envs online and she was absolutely amazing! quickly responded to any emails and was more than helpful with any questions. The class was very clear and the work load was not much at all. She was extremely fair in grading and was very friendly. I would defiantly take a class with her again if I had the chance.
she is very hard. she gives a lot of homework. a lot of paragraph to write and had to do presentation.
Amanda is an excellent professor and makes it incredibly easy to succeed in a very difficult class. Quiz and exam questions are from Mastering plus she's always telling you what type of essay or visual questions to expect during lectures. Save your $ buy the ebook/mastering off the publishers site. You won't regret taking Micro with her!
Amanda is a very bad teacher, she does not help, she gives a lot of papers to do, and her tests are very hard, she let you study for her class all the time and do not even get a good grade. I suggest not to take with her because you will end up dropping the class or retake it again( DO NOT waste your time).ar
Amanda is absolutely amazing. Truly a science teacher that has changed my outlook on bio classes. She's is extremely intelligent, kind, and helpful. She gives many extra points and tells you what to study for the exams and quizzes! Anyone giving her a bad rating clearly didn't put effort because micro is a tough course and requires work. TAKE HER
Stay away, Prof Talbot knows her stuff, but she is not a good professor. She seems to be sweet. Don't let her sweet smile fool you. She doesn't tell students they are failing until its too late.
Amanda has been the most amazing professor I have had within the last 3 years I have been in college. Taking her microbio course made me want to become a microbiologist. She is very intelligent and knows what she is talking about. She is straight forward but gives many chances for extra credit. She makes you want to do well in her class.
she is very HARD, she doesn't help with anything. she is very hard grader and the notes you have to print for yourself. you will take the class again if you take it with her even if you study a lot.
stay away from her, you will not pass the class even if you study a lot. she doesn't help at all.
General Microbiology - this class is hard. If you don't want to put the work in, don't expect a good grade. The average student will need a MINIMUM of 3-5 hours to study for a QUIZ. There are plenty of opportunities for extra credit. If you have an 90% + before taking the final, you don't have to take it. She responds quickly. You can do it!
Professor Talbot was amazing. I loved her online class. She was extremely helpful. She would get back promptly to emails, and she would even email me weekly reminders of things that were due. If you want to take this class make sure you have free time set aside for schoolwork, it is very time consuming. If you do the work, you will pass!
Microbiology is a heavy class, so if the prof knows, but doesn't know how to pass his knowledge to the student, is going to be hard for them to understand and pass the class. Amanda is really somebody you have to stay away. Don't be confuse with her smile, she doesn't help at all.
Amanda is a good person, but horrible professor. I asked her questions, but most of the time I always felt like she made me hesitate or give me short answers because she's so busy doing other things. Her exams were difficult. Some of them were from mastering and most of them were pulled out of nowhere. No matter how much you study you'll not pass.
I took her for an online class. The class wasn't impossible at all, but involved a lot of reading. It was an 8 week course so we had 3 quizzes a week. It was basically reading the chapter, doing an assignment, then taking a quiz. A lot of the assignments ?'s were on the quiz which was great. Lots of extra credit. Put in the work and you pass easy.
Get ready to study a lot. She doesnt help you with any questions. She is so rude.
She is amazing. Fun, understanding, patient, and easy to follow and understand.
Professor Talbot is an excellent teacher and very talented. Any questions I had she would gladly help me no matter how long it took. The professor also tries her best to help as many students as possible to pass.
This class was definetly challenging so be ready to study and put youre best effort in. Ms. Talbot will help you and answer questions though. I really liked her for how horrible this class was. Labs are interesting though and at the end she offered some extra credit that really helped out my grade. Be ready to study non stop this class Is hard.
the class is somewhat challenging, though Amanda makes it interesting with her humor and bringing out the various virus/bacteria stuffed toys trying to lighten things up. you really need to keep up with the studying, though if your grade slips, there are a few extra credit opportunities.
Makes lectures enjoyable, brings snacks for the class daily. Clearly notifies students what material is covered on exams. Really enjoyed this class.
DO NOT TAKE MS. TALBOT!!! Currently in her class. My opinion she is very lazy because no response to emails , the quizzes are on wileyplus so she doesn't have to make them , you can get a 0 if you just have a browser open, and she does't grade anything. Even worse the quizzes show a "0" in canvas for like 5 days till its graded! Grade is Enow!!
currently in her class! She does't help at all with questions. Also her quizzes are all on wileyplus so they are honestly not really easy questions. This class should not be such a heavy workload class but she makes it extremely heavy. She never grades anything and if you make a mistake on wileyplus it results to a 0 grade in canvas!
I loved having Amanda as my professor for microbiology. Would not recommend anyone else. She loves teaching (you can tell by her corny biology related jokes she attempts during lectures) LOL. I really had to work my ass off for this class. Her lectures are really thorough, so take good notes! and STUDY every day! only reason why i passed.
For an online class, she has absolutely no care for her students whatsoever. She always has something negative to comment on assignments, even when you get an A.
STAY AWAY! Prof. Amanda is a nice person, but is terrible at teaching... She gives tons of exams and at least 70 hours worth of homework, also NO STUDY GUIDES... She makes this class harder than A&P! I had a buddy take BIOL 2400 at Center Campus, and he said his class was easy. Make the drive and don't risk taking this class! GO TO CENTER CAMPUS!!
She has no compassion for students whatsoever!! On the top of the list of worst professors I have ever had. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!!
This was an 8-week online class. In the beginning, it is very overwhelming with all the Wiley homework. We did three chapters a week and got through the entire book and class discussion each week. She doesn't reply to emails quickly at all and doesn't enter grade right away. I don't recommend but still easier class.
Very rude . Do not ask her for help. Do not take any classes with her name attached. Save yourself the time and stress.
Had Professor Talbot for an online ENVS1050 class, so I didn't meet her in person. She did seem nice though. I did have an issue with one assignment in the class, but Professor Talbot was able to work things out for me. Overall, the class went well and Prof. Talbot also gave good feedback on some assignments, which I liked.
beware do not take professor! exams are super hard, gives a study guide but it is nothing like the exam. Not every nice either would not recommend her to anyone!
She's nice but exams are extremely long and ask detailed questions. My class had an avg exam score in the 50s and she told us just take more notes. She insists you have to "make microbiology your life". I studied for this class 30 hours a week and still failed exams. Save yourself the agony from taking this class with her and take someone else.
Chapter work is 300 questions, information during lectures are very brief, study guides arent related to the exam at all, she feels that bio is a lifestyle not a course, exams are hard and specific, and there arent exam objectives so you dont know what you need to know. My class got an average of 50/100 and all she can say is study harder.
She is the most irresponsible ,laziest professor I've ever had. She tried her best to avoid her duty. Basically , we had to learn by ourselves to deal with difficult tests. The questions she gave are just insane. They are not about knowledge points, just made for difficulties. She took forever for grading, and grades are unfair. It's a nightmare.
Please don't waste your time and energy. You could literally study 50 hours a week and you'd still fail her exams..... and she'd blame it on you. Don't even bother.
WORST TEACHER I HAVE EVER HAD! You can tell she has no life because of her ridiculous expectations. I studied 50+ hours a week, not including homework and the other stupid shet assigned. She is incredibly rude and lacks empathy. She would brag about how many students drop her irrelevant community college class. AVOID!
Acts like you should know everything about microbiology right away. When she asked the class what grade they thought they would get on one of the exams, everyone said a C or worse; she said that we need to study harder, instead of helping us. The whole class does bad, which is a reflection on her teaching.
She tries to be funny in her zoom's that are pre recorded from a year ago or more. HOMEWORK HEAVY for just 5 points. YOU NEED THE TEXTBOOK. She does give extra extra on test's and towards the end of the semester. Very test heavy. Very lecture heavy, and VERY book reading assignments heavy. Doesn't respond to emails until last minute, same for grade
Honestly one of the more tougher classes I took at MCC, even my Anatomy class was somewhat more decent. I was not a big fan of her switching test days to days I did not even have class with her (weekends), she does give alternative days, but for someone who has a set schedule with work and school, its hard. Long homework assignments too.
Worst professor ever. Very hard tests that did not reflect the information provided in the study guide or textbook. Really goes out of her way to ask questions in the most difficult way possible with sometimes more than 4 answer choices. Take a different professor by all means!
I would like to start off by saying that when the winter semester started- I crossed my fingers, hoping that I wasn't going to have this professor. Takes a million years to respond to an email, never replied to my second email, marked me 17/20 on an assignment and gave no comments- when I did everything right. Point blank do NOT take this professor
Too hard on the exam and most of them are surprising
Class is hard and requires work but lectures make it easy to understand and interesting. Connects the lab material to lecture in a thoughtful and fun way. Gives extra points throughout the semester on tests and some assigns. Can come across kind of harsh but if you put in the work and give effort she will help you out. Brings snacks for students!
Microbiology is tough subject and professors can only do so much to make it easier. She give lots of extra credits which helped me a lot throughout the semester. The amazing thing about this professor is that she post lectures recording on canvas which are very essential and helpful do well in the exams. So please watch online lectures.
I took the 8-week online class, and it was a lot of work. The Connect assignments are extremely long so definitely stretch the work throughout the entire week. Quizzes are kind of hard, but if you thoroughly review the study guide and text you'll be fine. Discussion posts are easy if you follow directions. CERs take a while, so make time for them.
This was by far the worst class i have taken to date. I would never recommend this professor. The workload is almost unmanageable if you have a life. And then you do all of the work and professor takes a month or more to grade the assignments. You will also never get a response back from messaging her. Do not take this class.
I don't get what the negative hype was about.. She was awesome. If you show up and do the work you will do fine. She is really funny but also puts what you need to know directly in front of you.
I loved this professor. She was really generous with her extra credit, and always informed everyone what to study for all exams. This is a BIO 2400 class, and there is a lot of Info/work. You will need about 20-24 hours a week to study/stay ahead to do well in this class. Prof. Amanda tells you that from day one. She is a lot of fun, too.Thumbs up:)
Would never recommend this professor to anyone. So much material, forgets you have a life outside of school. Do not miss any labs or she will fail you. If you expect to have any idea about your grade, don't. Will never respond to your emails/ canvas messages. Run as far as you can from this professor.
If you have a chance to take her classes in-person, do so. She is an awesome professor, that genuinely cares about her students. This is a very complex course, and Amanda works incredibly hard to make sure the information is understandable, and provides many different ways to learn the material for the variety of learners. 10/10 would recommend.
She was OK. Lots of homework and book work, if you take the course online. If you're online, get ready to put in about 12-14 hours of homework a week. One assignment alone takes 4 hours. Honestly, her work wasn't tough, and she wasn't a tough grader. She also offers unlimited extra credit, so it is impossible to fail.
RUN! She is such a hard grader. NO extra credit was EVER given. you are only allowed to miss one class or she will fail you, one student had COVID and she failed them. It would take her 2 weeks to grade exams.she would fail students on HUGE assignments jus because it wasn't uploaded in the right type of file, instead of allowing them to re upload.
Study the lectures and you will do fine on the exams. This is a intensive course - there is a lot of material each exam, but if you are proactive and put a few hours in each day, you can do very well. Be ready to put in ~24hrs/week into this course. If you can take this class without any others, I would recommend doing so.
Prepare to put in serious effort for this course. Attend lectures, use the textbook, and try Unstuck study to supplement your studies. Grading can be tough, but put in the work and you'll do well.
I took this course online and it was the 8 weeks course. A LOT of HW! you have to do a lot of reading in order to finish the hw. there's non proctored tests each week. weekly discussions were fun. my only complain is she took sooooo long to grade stuff! oh and there was no final test! :)
I felt like the workload was too much and too tedious. Homework assignments took FOREVER to complete. She hardly responds to emails. Exams were very difficult. She's the only professor at South Campus that teaches Micro. I highly recommend to take this class at Center if you can.
The class overall wasn't bad. She does a great job at explaining the material and clearly states what's going to be the short answer and essay questions on the exam. It's a ton of HW like 6 hrs worth every weeks so start early. Yes I said 6 hrs. 5 hw drops so you don't have to do 5 of them.
I took professor Talbot fall 2024. im just now writing a review because i saw the low review scores and was flabbergasted. Professor Talbot truly cares about her students; she gives lot of extra credit on exams. every test has an essay portion and thats where i got alot of extra points. the more you give the more extra point she gives.
Lectures are from covid I took in person to not do online, pretty much an online course, smartbooks can take 3hours, offers lots EC, she's nice, very knowledgeable on micro, in person lectures aren't boring, expects you to know everything about bio1000, memorize essay on every exam, takes over month to grade exams, mixed opinions on this prof.
Amanda Talbot enforces strict attendance but expects flexibility for her health. Came to class after almost being septic and had an attitude about grading. Study guides didn't match exams. Teaching felt disorganized and unsupportive.
Attendance was required, though several classes were canceled and the course later transitioned online. Exam grades were returned late, which made it difficult to monitor performance. Email responses were limited. Exams included short-answer questions despite the course falling behind schedule.
Not happy with this professor AT ALL. Study guides did not compare to the exam AT ALL. Short answer questions were on the exam that were provided one day prior making it difficult to even go over the 10 she provided. Waited last minute to get everyone's grades in and they aren't accurate. Disappointed.
