She's really funny. She loves to hear about everyones stories and jokes. Her class is fairly easy and is based on 5 essays, and a grammar test. she also has online dissucions that are sometimes fun to do.(do it and it's easy points)
Great teacher....she teaches very clear and is easy grader but she gives you great tips on how to improve. Come to class and bring the textbooks she tells you. Do that and you'll get a good grade in her class.
I dropped wrc 1013 the first time taking it because my prof. was a nazi so ms williams class was definately a pleasant experience. Shes easy going and an easy grader. She makes class a lot less boring than it could be. She makes it very easy to do well and gives extra credit quizzes. Just go to class and do your homework and it is easy to make an A
MRS. Williams is a sweet person. She always tries to involve us. The essays that we had to write were mainly graded on grammer which she focuses on the most. im enjoing her class so far.
Great teacher. Will explain as many times is needed. Makes grammar fun!
Structures is a hard class overall but Mrs. Williams did everything she could to help! You can definitely talk to her when you need to. She is very approachable.
Ms. Williams makes class fun and she really wants us to understand. She is willing to help if you need help, and she is really nice. You write 5 papers, and she grades kind of tough, but I guess it is fair. Good class.
Mrs. Williams is a very good professor. She makes the class fun and gets you involved. group presentations were the best part and essay weren't so bad. I highly recommend her!!!
Interesting class, she taught it well. You write five papers total, it's an agumentative writing class, know your current events. A research paper due at the end of the semester. A LOT OF READING! About two chapters a week and you discuss the chapters in class! Thought she graded pretty easy, never got below a B on papers. I highly recommend her!
She's very efficient and knows her subject well. Your writing will improve in her class if you do the work properly. She comes off as a bit cold but at least she's clear on the assignments and she's willing to take the time and patience to help you through any confusion. 5 essays through the semester with detailed grading.
I liked her, very nice teacher, knows whats she's doing so dont try to play stupid with her, th papers u write r pretty interesting, grading is a little harsh but not to bad, I never read which was pretty bad cause she might ask u a question, then make u feel bad for not doing the reading, so do the reading
The structures class is difficult; I took her in summer session 2 and out of my 6 classes- this was the hardest; I got a B (while getting A's in every other course). I heard most people get B's and C's but Professor Williams makes it very clear to learn- just attend!!!
She is very knowledgeable in this area. You can’t miss class because you will get behind. If you have any questions or comments, she is there to help you. She does want you to succeed, but you have to put forth the effort.
I wish she would teach everything. Mrs. Williams rocks UTSA. She will mold your brain like play dough. She will open the gates of enlightenment. She is the bearer of knowledge...all hail!
The class is great if you love the content. She is clear, gives very little homework (and it's for practice), and she is willing to help anyway she can. Only one problem-if you miss more than the given # of absences, she WILL lower you final letter grade no matter what your other grades looked like!
She is a good teacher. Just go to class and listen sometimes she does go a bit to fast. But she is helpful and will go over it again.
Mrs. Williams is an excellent instructor. I'm an English major, so this stuff came pretty easy for me. But I could see how she would take time to explain to those who were unclear about certain things, and I felt she used excellent examples. I absolutely admire her teaching skills. Thumbs up for Mrs. Williams!
I am an English major so I loved the class, loved the material and loved the professor. The information is a bit challenging. If you are not string in English this is maybe not your class, but she is sooo helpful and will make sure you understand. She has a great way of explaining the material. Great Class!
She is an amazing professor! (Hi Prof if your reading!) This class was so interesting, and I really enjoy her teaching style! You should take!
Great teacher. Shes very helpful, explains material thoroughly, and teaches you how to write good papers. Shes nice and interesting but doesnt like tardiness.
She is extremely rude! She often asks her students if they have questions and when you do ask her she makes you feel like your dumb. She is very unapproachable and I would not recommend taking her class. She moves very fast through hard subject matter and automatically assumes that everyone understands. Take another teacher if you can.
If you like writing and are really good at it then this is the teacher for you. Other than that... she doesn't do much. It takes her forever to grade essays so you really never know your grade and what you can fix on your next essay. very unorganized really.
this professor is interesting..i hated the class mainly because every paper had to be PERFECT to get an A. oh and all 5 major essays had to be like 5 pages or more..IT SUCKED! to me it was hard to meet her standards of an "A" paper.. but enter if u must
Professor has too many "pet peeves." She is an OK professor but I wouldn't recomend her. You must attend class. They are boring and she doesn't like to give out A's.
This professor has a smart alec attitude. She forgets to mention things she would like in your essays until after you turn it in. She will not give out an A. Pretty much this class is impossible and I would not recommend taking it if you want to learn something useful and get an A.
I took her English Structures class. Its kind of overwhelming because its a lot of information to absorb but she really welcomes questions and participation in her classroom. The only problem is that her tests are really hard, no matter how hard I study I've never gotten more than a B-. Other students are hoping for a C just to get through the clas
Hard to get an A but great professor
She is a great teacher, I used to make Cs on all my papers but after taking her class, I started to make B+s. Although on quite a few papers I felt like I deserved an A, it shows how difficult it is to make an A. I highly recommend taking her for Freshmen Composition 2.
Very good and nice professor. Will get angry if class does not meet her standards. Will help you if you really need it.
She is great. She tells you what she expects of you if you want an A, and doesn't ****. She is funny and will help you if you show her you need it.
One of the best professors I've had at UTSA. She is articulate and direct, and you will have to work for your grade, but you'll learn so much. Attendance is mandatory, there is a dated sign-in sheet, and when you miss class, you miss a ton of information. Tells you what to study and has a study guide. Excellent class.
Mrs. Williams is a great, understanding teacher and person. She can explain a concept several different ways to help you understand. Can sometimes make you feel small, but it's just her personality. She puts a lot into the class and students and really has a passion for the subject. She's fun and enjoyable (even when 9 mo. pregnant :)) Recommended!
She is a very good teacher. She expects a lot out of you though. Average papers will receive C's. You must go above and beyond to get a B and you must excel to get an A. She is very clear about this the first day. She tells you EXACTLY what you need to know and if you do what she says, there's no reason not to do good. You have to work HARD though!
She was okay but she can be very strict and she doesn't explain the papers well. She was also pregnant so she was very moody and she never gives A's. Wouldn't really recommend
At first I was worried that she would be really difficult, but I recommend her! She challenges you to be a better a writer, which is a skill you will need and use for the rest of your life regardless of what you do. I'm a Kines major and this is my last comp class but I'm happy I took her. Difficult (but possible) to make an A. She is very logical.
Her Intro to Struct. of Eng. Lang. course was super easy! Notes are very direct, tests follow the handouts, and she really knows her stuff. Attendance is mandatory, but her lectures are interesting and I felt like I acquired a solid foundation for grammar.
Professor Williams is very enthusiastic and witty. She loves the quirky things about the English language. She tells you what is going to be on the test so take notes and highlight/star/circle anything she says will be on the test.
I actually did not sign up for her, she took over after my professor had to leave. I think bc she came in in the middle of the semester, she was easier on us. She wasn't that hard of a grader, but she really helped a lot in teaching us to write better.
Mrs. Williams is probably the best professor ever. She provides very good criticism on your papers and is very quirky and fun. She tells you flat out what she expects from the start. Taking her class will make you a better writer and will teach you things you have never even learned before. I recommend her for freshman comp. 1 & 2.
Mrs. Williams is a fantastic professor! She's very structured with her essays. So long as you pay attention to the different formats she teaches in class and stick to them, youre pretty much guranteed an A. You can only have six absences in her class but that's enough!
Mrs. Williams.. A lot of outside the classroom work! She knows what she's doing, fair grader
Mrs.Williams is a great professor and very easy grader, I am not a good writer but I received B's on all my assignments. She gives you two outside essay, one in class, group project, research paper, and final. Her class is super easy and she does not grade hard! HIGHLY RECOMMEND. and attendance is mandatory!! TAKE HER!
I took this class for Summer Session 2. The class moved quickly since I had it every day, so you have to stay on top of everything. Assignments are graded as completion and the tests are the most important. You really have to listen during lecture and really practice in your own time to really get it and understand and do well in your tests! :)
The Instructor was fun and motivated/motivating. She taught well and the class moved quickly (took summer 2). Really enjoyed this class.
took this class over summer 2 so it was really fast paced. But she really made it easy to understand. She does expect you to do the homework, but she takes as a completion grade so it can only help you. She gives examples and doesn't mind having to say something in many different ways before people understand it. Best professor I have ever had!
Professor Williams is outstanding! She does an excellent job of explaining and engaging her students. Pay attention in class and take notes, do the homework (it's not even a lot!), and you will do well in her class. I definitely loved her class and it was easily my favorite this semester. Plus, she's freaking hilarious!
This class was super easy and she was very thorough in her guidelines and basically gave us the answer how to set up each paper, topic by topic. She was strict on attendance and a little sassy to her students. But she expects participation.
The Prof made the class entertaining while at the same time, educational. I came into the class not knowing anything about parts of speech and came out knowing that and much more. If you're looking for an easy A, this is not the class to take. But if you're willing to actually come to class and do the work, you'll do fine. I loved this class.
This prof LOVES to talk. As in, "just to hear her own voice," talk. Very hard to get a word in, then she'll complain that no one is asking questions. Forgets this is a junior level class, & if there's too much talking, she yells "Yo!" as if we're high schoolers. Was not impressed, and I wouldn't recommend her.
I have NO idea how anyone could be displeased with this professor, unless they refused to do the (quite abundant and resourceful) reading. I'm sure the fault was them not going to the classes enough to get their grade lower or something. She was more than helpful on tests, and pursued each question with such clarity. I WOULD RECOMMEND her to anyone
Very good professor, and cute!
She is very strict. You have to work for your grade! Attendance is mandatory. She will drop you a letter grade if you miss more than 6 days. If you are willing to work YOUR BUTT OFF, then take her class. If not, then be ready to get C- papers!
Tough grader, but amazing professor. Challenged me to become a better writer, and her lectures were helpful and entertaining. You definitely have to work for the grade, but she's always there whenever a student needs help with an assignment. Definitely recommend.
Professor Williams gave very clear and specific instructions for each paper. She always makes herself available to those who want to get extra help with their writing. A little effort in following the guidelines will translate to a very good grade in this class.
Professor Williams is a good writing professor although she can have an attitude sometimes. If you try your best and go to her office hours you'll get at least a B in her class.
I personally loved Prof Williams and her personality. She likes things done her way and has many little quirks but overall she is a great writing instructor. You will learn a lot. She allows peer review days a couple days before the papers are due and it is very helpful. You will learn a lot.
Took Structure of English and liked it more than I thought I would. She can be tough from time to time but it's nothing unbearable and is usually for your own good. If she tells you to memorize something MEMORIZE IT. If you miss a class you MUST get notes from someone and have them explain it otherwise you'll be lost
Demands you to work for your grade, in the end you will know everything you never wanted to know about grammar. But you'll see, it was fun and thought provoking. She knows her subject well. No paper, just homeworks. Try. STUDY! and you will pass.
She isn't the worst professor I've ever had, but she got very annoying with demanding we memorize everything. Her go to phrase is "if you don't have this memorized you're behind." Class was easy for me. She's clear and goes through homework with the class. She'll add random anecdotes to lecture to make it more interesting.
She's a good professor and will always be there to help you. She responds to emails and tries to always give her students clear criteria for every paper. You will have three papers back to back and a group project, tough grader but if you listen to her comments and have good grammar you will at least have a B.
I absolutely LOVED her! She's a tough grader but I learned a lot from her. If you have six absences she'll drop your grade a whole letter so don't skip! I never missed a day of this class though because she made everyday interesting. Take her! You won't regret it (:
Mrs. Williams is very clear on what she wants. She repeats herself multiple times and tells you exactly what you have to do. You need the books since there will be some reading. She's funny and actually pretty chill. She is not that easy but incredibly helpful. You have to go to class, she takes attendance everyday.
Professor Williams was the best teacher I have ever had. In the beginning, she came off as a little strong, calling out people for their writing , and she seemed like she would be a horrible person. A few weeks into the semester, however, she becomes this awe inspiring prof that you want criticizing you because it's so helpful. Highly recommended!
I took Ms. Williams my first year at UTSA very nice prof I learned a lot. She is insperational really gets the juices flowing. I was scared to death about taking a writing class however, she helped me get over my anxiety and pointed out some good qualities I have also :
TAKE WILLIAMS! she is VERY clear about what she wants and makes it easy on you. Getting an A is VERY easy if you attend office hours and follow syllabus instructions, i highly recommend her for people who aren't good at writing because she helps a lot! TAKE HER!!!
Best English teacher ive ever had, Will genuinely work with you, and is super chill. Deff recommend!
Mrs. Williams is one of my favorite teachers and I would highly recommend taking her. She grades by a contract which eases stress but will still help you improve your writing. She gives good feedback on anything you need help with and allows you to get an A if you're willing to put extra work in. She's also very funny if your class is talkative.
Professor Williams is hilarious and a joy to learn from, but don't let her lightheartedness fool you, she is absolutely brilliant! Show up, take notes, study, and you will do well. The material she teaches is not hard; it is just a lot. Regardless, she makes class time and encourages questions from the students.
Mrs. Williams is a great professor, she really tries to help you become a better writer. There's no tests and her new grading contract is better than getting letter grades on papers. If you show up it's pretty easy to get an A in her class, but you do have to work for it.
Mrs. W is passionate about writing and wants her students to succeed academically. Attendance is mandatory, about 4 essay and 1 group project, and book is necessary.
Show up, turn things in on time and participate in lectures. Her expectations are clear as day, and she actually cares about the content. Whether you're great in writing or suck, she works with you. 10/10.
Buy the book, you cannot pass without it. However, having the book does not mean you'll use it often. Her grading system is based on a plus-grade system rather than whether you are good at writing essays. So, if you are bad at writing, TAKE HER! She is straightforward and very helpful when improving writing
Professor William's expectations and grading criteria works to your benefit if you put in the effort. You don't have to be a stellar writer to come away with a B, maybe even an A. Take her.
Quick review: Teacher: Genius. Really loves grmar and knows her stuff. No no sense type of teacher. Might bud heads if your a bubbly personality. Course:Super hard for the average person, but I don't regret takeing it. Learned a lot. BUT IT IS A LOT. And it takes studying everyday. For me even studying everyday was not enough towards unit 3.
Prof Williams is a great instructor and really funny! Take your notes in a spiral, do all of the homework, and study. This class isn't hard, it's really just memorization. But you NEED to devote time to memorize the patterns and rules. As long as you get that down, you'll be golden. TBH, I enjoyed this class way more than I thought I would.
Hands down one of the best professors ever! Shes absolutely brilliant, and because shes loves the subject so much you will learn a lot. I advise taking good and thorough notes and being in attendance as much as you can. Print out the packets she puts online, study them, and youll be fine!
Mrs. Williams is great teacher and will make sure your writing is better by the end of the semester . The class isn't easy and she requires a lot of time and effort to pass the class .
Mrs. Williams is a tough lady. She's kind, understanding and truly wants her students to succeed. She can tell when you're trying and when you're not and isn't afraid to call you out on it. It is a lot of writing, but nothing too difficult if you're used to getting 3-4 on essays. Plus, she allows edits for a better grade, but you have to earn it.
Professor Williams knows her stuff! I can't lie, this class was really tough for me even as an English major. She takes her time to explain things if you do not understand. YOU MUST TAKE NOTES. She creates packets of the basics covered but taking notes is a must to even think about passing this class. Try not to be absent. Great prof!
OkAy! This is the deal with Professor Williams. I was no joke intimidated by her, since day 1. But honestly, she is really funny and outgoing. TAKE ADVANTAGE OF HER OFFICE HOURS! She makes you work for your grade, she's the reason why my writing is better! She wants the best for her students. Hand down worth it if you are willing to work for it!
Professor Williams is a gem. She's an intimidating lady at first but once you get to know her she's super sweet and kind. USE OFFICE HOURS. Anytime I went in to talk to her I felt so much better about my paper, and like she genuinely wanted me to do good in the class. It's not hard at all to pass you just have to work for it
Dont.
Prof Williams was good and all but honestly I would recommend taking another WRC prof. Because she does not grade traditionally. She uses a contract system so you have to do a certain amount of work to get an A instead of just writing good papers. So if you know you can write well and get an A, take someone else because you'll end up doing 3x work
Im taking this class online due to Covid and I feel as if Im not learning anything. If I were to take her class in person, I feel it would be more beneficial, however she doesnt do the best job of explaining the assignments. Our class group me is always confused, and when we ask questions, she makes it seem as if were extremely incompetent.
WORST CLASS! Even with Covid, that's no excuse for the harsh grading of giving everyone a C. If a student puts in effort, they should receive credit and not just a "C". She also asks if you have any questions and when you ask one she makes it seem as though you are not capable of learning. So then why ask.. or teach for that matter.
Mrs. Williams is a very difficult professor. She grades on contract, so even if you do all of the work, you will get a C. You have to do extra to get even a B or A. Even then, everything is based on completion so I get the same essay grade as an awful writer. Other than that, she is rude to students and comes off as condescending. Just don't do it.
Her grading method is ridiculous. Extra credit is meant for students to go above and beyond 100%, but she uses it as a way to get a B or an A. I was very confused by this and there is already so much initial work to do. We did a 4 member project which was the worst. Communication sucked and I ended up doing 90% of the work. This was during covid.
I took this class online during COVID a lot of people hated it because you had to work for an A, I personally didnt hate having to work for it because it helped me improve my writing. If you dont wanna work for an A dont take her though. You only have to go to class once a week and shes nice as long as you participate.
She makes everything simple and easy. She's also a really easy grader and gives you many chances to improve your grade.
She comes off as intimidating at first but really cool once u get to know her Had her for comp 1 & 2 and got A in both Not hard grader & can be lenient if u try and show that you want to improve I am a Bio major and I genuinely enjoyed her course (which I really dont find much things outside bio interesting) Definitely recommend go to office hours
Shes loves what she teaches but do not take her if you are one who needs further explanation or excessive help. She does not really offer help or tutoring. She constantly blames the students for the lack of understand and claims no one studies and purely relies you to understand based off slideshows and our book
Professor Williams was good at explaining our essays but she is a tough grader. On any paper the highest grade you will receive is a B. She does take a second to finish grading all of the papers.
She is probably one of the worst professors I've ever had in my life. She's incredibly condescending and rude when you ask questions, so don't bother. Everyone in my class was intimidated by her, and a lot of people struggled. She grades the papers very hard, and the last project was the worst. I wish I could get her fired.
Super understanding. WRC 1023 is one of the most annoying, paper-heavy, mandatory classes a freshman has to take. Professor Williams manages to make it almost tolerable. If you have to take this class (which you do), take it with her.
she did not give clear lectures. Homework was every week twice a week. shes rude when you ask questions and makes it seem like you shouldve known the answer
She is super condescending and rude. If you answer wrong she will make you feel stupid. She has this aura around her that she thinks she is better than everyone because we have to take her class. The type of professor that thinks her class is the most important out of all your classes.
I would avoid asking questions at all during class, just ask your classmates afterwards to avoid feeling incompetent. Otherwise, if you just show up and turn your things in on time, you should be fine! She's actually pretty nice on a personal level and she asks fun questions when she takes attendance.
Honestly, I see why people think she's rude but meh. You just gotta put on some thick skin and you'll be perfectly fine. A bit of a harsh grader but she really does try her best to give you notes on how to improve. She lets you redo your paper for a better grade which I think is super cool. Participate and she'll like you!
Professor is pretty intense
Pretty intense
Pretty Intense professor
She is not very considerate when it comes to sickness, deaths, & other reasons for absences. She does not always respect our needs as students. Was counted absent for needing to leave 5 minutes early for a dentist appointment, and other students were counted absent when there. Only gives 5 absences until she starts dropping you by a letter grade.
Pay attention in class and to what is posted online. Ask questions - Professor is helpful. This is a good class for skill building.
One of those classes where you might like the prof, but hate the class. You have to try, but it is rewarding. I don't think she's rude, just strict, but also pretty funny sometimes. Tons of writing, but one of the better WRC profs to take. CITE EVERYTHING or she fails for plagiarism.
Hard grader when it comes to papers, but it is really because she wants to help you improve your writing skills. 4 major writing assignments + group project/presentation + other small Daily grades. It's hard to not like the class with the energy she brings each day.
Professor Amanda Williams is such a great professor. There are a lot of papers but it is a writing class. She lets you redo papers for a new grade. She has very clear guidelines for assignments and gives examples of what she's looking for. She's also pretty chill and gives good lectures.
Professor Williams was great she was easy to reach outside of class, and lets you redo papers for a better grade. Her grading criteria is really clear, and she provides plentiful resources to help you succeed, you cannot miss class though or you will struggle.
Professor Williams may be strict, but she truly wants to help you improve your writing. The workload is heavy, but the feedback is valuable. Try using Unstuck AI alongside the textbook to nail those assignments.
She is a bit intimidating at first but the more repour you build the better she becomes. She is strict but at the end of the semester you will be a better writer.
Professor Williams is a knowledgeable instructor, but her teaching style can be harsh. On the first day, she yelled at us, which was intimidating. As someone who gets anxious easily, her class made me very nervous. She's not always kind when you ask questions after class and can come off as extremely rude.
She is pretty intimidating like most people say, and she will single you out if you are late because according to her that's her “pet peeve”. She is also a pretty tough grader so expect a lot of feedback, however in that aspect it did make me a better writer.
The professor is very passive aggressive during class. Reflects behavior of a highschool teacher, from attendance to embarrassing students on purpose in class and so forth. Essays are excessive, she assigns a new of each week.
Took her during summer semester and she had a huge tendency to not properly explain what she wanted. Not to mention she would take a while to grade essays, which is understandable cause that needs time, but I don't know how you expect me to improve on something without telling me what I need to improve on. Would literally annotate my paper with ??
She can be a little intense with the workload but I found it to be manageable just dont wait till the last minute. I took her online so her grading towards the end was pretty lax I got an A on every paper as long as I met the basic requirements.
VERY VERY Passive aggressive, her grading is very confusing. Be social in the class or she will call you out.
I think this class has made me a better writer. Just be mindful to be active in her class AND attendance is important, so make sure to show up. There were around 5 major papers, but she let us do revisions for more points. Overall, take this class if you are serious about becoming a better writer.
Before taking her class I definitely thought she was going to be a professor from hell based on the other reviews but she wasn't. I will say she is extremely passive-aggressive. Other than that as long as you follow the rubric this class is easy.
