Lots and lots of homework. She doesn't really look over the questions in the test-bank before assigning them and then when the class asks questions, she goes, "Oh. . .skip that question." She never teaches from the book, it's useless. Tests don't really cover what was taught in class. I'm having the hardest time I've ever had in college.
Ms. Wilsker is one of the best professors that I have ever had!!! She cares very much about how well you do in her class and she is very helpful. She gives you PLENTY of extra credit opportunities and does a really good job of relating economics to real-life situations. I will definitely be taking her again and I highly recommend her!
You can not expect any college level econ class to be sleep thru easy but you an expect that Ms. Wilsker will do all she can to help you understand the material. She constantly relates the subject to every day situations and always answers your questions. She cares a lot about her class and wants everyone to do well. I definitely recommend her.
She is an awesome teacher! Yes there is a lot of homework but what college class does not have a lot of homework. She is very helpful! And she makes learning econ useful. She does give pop quizzes so watch out for those. As long as you review your notes on a regular basis, you'll be good. I highly recommend her!
She is one of the best professors I've had. Truly cares about her students and goes above and beyond to help. Quizzes and tests are normal, if you're lazy then don't bother going to school. Down to earth person and relates to you and makes class fun and enjoyable. Take her class if you can, you won't regret it!
Dr. Wilsker is an EXCELLANT professor. The homework load is normal for a 2000 level class. If you dont like homework skip this class and go directly to the drivethrough at McDonalds. The tests are challenging but all the material is covered in class. She will do everything she can to help you pass as long as you pull your own weight.
Dr. Wilsker, is a very awsome teacher. She is doen to earth and will help you in all the ways possible, & she give you a lot of extra points to go towards the tests. There is three Exams and an optional one to replace your lowest exam score. I Would take her again if possible, and I recommend taking her to understand Econ the fun way.
This semester she changed her exams from mutiple choice to written exams. If you do not word it exactly how she wants points will be deducted. We did not use myeconlab. Material is easy to grasp.
Had short answer exams that were very difficult. Material in general is very hard to comprehend. Professor Wilkser tries to help you. But, the course is generally very difficult and the exams are as well. She tries to help all her students.
She was an awesome teacher, but this class is not an easy A because the material generally gets harder to grasp. Make sure you attend class and take notes b/c that's the only way you'll pass. Do your best on the first 2 units because unit 3 is the most difficult. She'll help you as long as you tell her. Overall I enjoyed her class :)
She is very helpful and will go out of her way to help you figure stuff out. She is an excellent teacher and I recommend her to anyone. She will give you changes to make a test grade correction. She is awesome!!!
She is a great teacher. Very understanding, helpful, and clear. She goes fast, but I feel that she teaches the material properly. Her tests are for the most part fair and easy, but sometimes her short answer questions are too vague and broad. She is willing to help and is very nice. Just read and do the OPTIONAL homework and you will get an A.
I absolutely loved this professor she was so interesting and made the ideas easy to grasp but the tests were extremely difficult so study everyday and do the "optional" homework. All in all she was great :) 10/10
She is a very nice professor. There are about 8 mini tests that you have to take and they are very difficult. Make sure you do the optional homework and you should be fine.
She is a good person and cares that you pass but you have to come to her to get the help. Duh!!! However she is not my kind of learning style. There are no powerpoints and notes are off the top of her head. She gives study guides that are 50+ questions long and some of them are not even on the test. there is a test every week and only 20 questions.
TAKE NOTES and read the book. Yea, she doesn't lecture from pwrpnts but she tells you want you need to know in class. The "tests" aren't every week but when the class completes a chapter there is a "quiz" instead of a test. I prefer this because I don't have to cram 3 or 4 chapters at a time. Lots of extra credit opps Not the easiest subject matter
Overall, she is a great teacher! Yes, her quizzes may be difficult but it all depends on how much work you put into the studying. She is sweet, funny, and tries to develop a good relationship with every one of her students. She offers outside help constantly so she obviously cares about you passing the class! I RECOMMEND!
You will not regret taking her. She is one of the best professors for ECON. She will work with you, if you give the effort. She is awesome. MUST TAKE HER! She is the best! Can't say that enough. Realistic and laid back.
I recommend taking dr. Wilsker. She will go out of her way to ensure u get the grade u want but u have to be willing to put in the work as well! She's an awesome professor!
If you actually put the studying in, I can assure you, you will understand the material and you will make an A.
Econ is not my favorite subject, but Professor Wilsker made this class interesting. I also love that instead of giving 3 big exams she gives 7 quizzes that go over a chapter or two for each. They are comprehensive, but she gives out study guides before each quizzes.
She's a cool person and funny but she's not one of those professors who's like "This is going to be on the quiz. Know this." She makes things confusing when it doesn't have to be. There's only one paper to write and 8 quizzes that's it. BUT only 20 questions on each quiz and the quizzes are really hard. Class average on the quizzes are about 60%.
This was a crazy class but it was worth it for the grade. Prof. Wilsker tries very hard to teach everyone in the class. If you have a chance to take her, DO IT!
It was a good class bc she didn't assign a lot of work so you can still focus on your other classes. 1 paper and 6-8 Quizzes. Alot of information and it wasn't my favorite subject. At the end she gives you a chance to redo up to 3 Quizzes over which bumped my grade from a C to a B.
Macroeconomics is not an easy class but Wilsker is a great professor! Lectures consist of LOTS of visuals and she makes up fun games to help understand material. At the end of semester she gives Extra Credit assignments and allows you to make up quizzes! I am taking her for Micro as well, I highly recommend!!
Dr. Wilsker makes economics much more tolerable. She is very animated and energetic. Keeps it FUN. Still, lots of material to learn and you need to show up if you want to understand the information. 3 current events, 1 paper, 6 quizzes. You get to retake 2 as your final if you want to improve your grade. Definitely take her if possible!!
Dr. Wilsker is an excellent teacher! She keeps it 100 and makes it clear that she is there to help you. She goes out of her way to help you by offering tutoring, you just have to let her know you need help and she will give you all the tools you need to succeed. Also, try tutoring at Academic Enhancement Cetner in Library.
Great professor! Quizzes are kind of difficult but overall the class isn't that hard. Just take good notes and study the previous class quizzes and you'll make an A.
Great teacher. You to go to class and take notes to pass. Breaks exams into 7 smaller test grades. Makes it so much easier to learn.
Has expansive knowledge on subject material. Uses good examples. She gives extra credit opportunities. Talks about current events. Makes you think. Even though it can be boring, she tries to make it interesting. To pass, take good notes, participate, and study. Use online resources she gives.
Have never been a fan of Econ, and I only took this class as it was part of my Area E. Dr. Wilsker is nothing short of amazing. Her lectures are clear, and she gives you what you need to not only pass, but succeed. If I hadn't already determined a major, I would have declared for a major in Economics simply because of Dr. Wilsker
Dr. Wilsker is the reason I finally decided on my concentration. Econ was never even on my radar, until I took her class. I look forward to going to her class. Don't get me wrong, she isn't going to sugar coat or hand you anything. I'm working hard for my A. I got the book and it makes a huge difference. Not required but I recommend it.
Dr. Wilsker is amazing. She is extremely knowledgeable and class was never boring. If you show up to class and take notes, tests are not difficult at all, plus she offers extra credit. She's down-to-earth and very good at explaining concepts.
Best professor to take for an Econ class. Goes over everything in depth and actually cares about how her students are doing. Will make an effort to meet with you outside of class and help you. I loved her! Gives around 6 quizzes and you get to make up 2 as the final exam. Homeworks are similar to quizzes, but not always the same questions.
Dr. Wilsker is a fantastic professor! This was her first time teaching the BUSA 2000, but she made the class bearable and interesting. You can tell she is very passionate about teaching. She is also well respected by her students and takes a lot of time out of class to help students with the material. Test were difficult, but she sometimes curves.
Professor Wilsker is OK. She give 6 "quizzes" a.k.a TESTS that are around 20-21 questions long. They're REALLY hard, so if you decide to take her be ready to take a Test every other week. She scribbles everything on the board, sometimes its hard to read. She's very sassy and has a good humor. You also have to write a paper,
She is very respectable single mother. She cares about her students and wants to see them succeed. She gives multiple xtra credit, test curves, and test corrections. She always as a positive attitude and really great at what she does. Obviously econ is a tough subject, be makes it understandable. She gives a website called JUNCTION that helps alot!
She is a great and energetic professor! :) I would highly recommend her she keeps the class interesting and relates economics to real life scenarios. Her quizzes are not easy, you must study to test well. Make sure you show up to every class, take notes and participate.
She's a great teacher. funny and sarcastic. 6 tests, and a paper. STUDY. but if you understand the subject, its not hard. Ive never taken econ before, and as a dual enrollment student she made learning econ fun. Great teacher, 10/10 would absolutely take again.
She is a very respectable Texan woman. Dr. Wilsker is one of the best professors GGC offers. She delivers the instruction in a variety of ways through video, diagrams, and online discussion. Her lectures are never boring. There is an essay in this course, but the topics is simple. Definitely take her class- if it isn't already full!
Dr. Wilsker is confident in her teaching and makes herself very available to students who have trouble with the material, like myself. Study the material and it should not be a problem. Gives a lot of extra credit opportunities. Several quizzes, no tests. 1 paper. Would definitely take again!
Best professor I have ever had. She holds students accountable for showing up and always knows each student's name. The class is engaging and you really get comfortable with the people in your class and participating. Great GREAT professor.
Want to see econ in action? Take her class. The setup is easy to follow. You HAVE to attend class to be successful. Help is available if you need/want it, she understands econ isnt for everyone so she will put the extra work with you. She talks fast, so just ask to repeat herself and ask questions. She will condense it for you. Loved her class.
Dr. Wilsker is an amazing teacher, her lectures are very engaging and I've never yawned during her class. She does an excellent job teaching econ. her tests are difficult for me, but my other classmates seem to do well. Getting a good grade in the class does require practice and really understanding concepts. I'd definitely recommend taking her.
The professor is good no doubt. But at first it seemed hard but as you go talk to her, and understand the lectures and the material more it becomes more easy to handle. Her lectures are really nice. The most important thing is that PARTICIPATION matters.
Econ is not an easy subject but Dr. Wilsker's teaching style helps you grasp the concept. She gives extra practice before quizzes along with the homework. If you do them you are guaranteed to get a good grade. She is extremely helpful and meets up with you if you need it before a quiz. Just make sure to pay attention and participate in class.
Amanda Wilsker really cares about her class and truly loves teaching! I took her for Summer, our class was super small like 10 people but it was really fun. We had lots of activities and discussions that were enjoyable. The class was fun but its hard work. Attendance and listening is KEY! Dont show up and you wont pass. Dropped lowest quiz grade.
Textbook is helpful, but she provides what you actually need to know for tests IN class. Participation actually helps you because she designs things to prepare you just for what she'll test you on. She is SO helpful and patient. Its even better that she has a sense of humor and wit. TAKE HER. TAKE HER.
She's simply the best hands down. Can't expect more from a professor.
Great professor. Really great attitude. She hand writes notes with you so you don't feel like you're being left behind. I've already registered with her for another class next semester.
As a ECON professor, she is great; for Statistics not the best. The problem with Statistics is that there is too much to talk in such little time. The class itself is very hard, so you have to read and practice lots. She gives lots of bonus, so that will help you, and she will help you with your grade. She is extremely smart and nice, just study!!!
I Took her for both Statistics and Microeconomics. I've Had many good professors at GGC, but none of them compare to her. She is so clear and always on schedule. She's supper smart and knows how to set up her class for everyone. She's amazing! TAKE HER if you want to actually learn and want a caring professor.
Good professor. Gives extra credit. TAKE GOOD NOTES! I did not have the book the whole semester and did well. PARTICIPATE! Weekly discussions so stay on top of D2L. Come to class!! A few quizzes, one paper and an optional final. Plan to spend the whole time block IN CLASS! She will not let you out early lol.
She does assign homework outside of class that she will review the day before the quiz. Expect to take lots of notes. She is accessible outside of class. If you skip class, do not expect to pass the class.
Professor Wilsker is a great teacher. I took her for Econ 2106 in the summer 2017. If you do not come to class you will not pass. You have to put in the work to get a good grade. She does not use powerpoints or the text book. The class is not memorization it is concept driven. If you put in the work you will pass.
I've signed up for a class with her every semester! She's hands down the best professor at GGC and she is very passionate about both the material and the students. If you participate, ask questions and come to class you will pass. She will go out of her way to make sure you understand the material and she will meet with you outside of class.
She is great for ECON, but awful for stats nothing makes since in this class and many students struggled. She is super cool and gives a ton of opportunities to replace your lowest test grade. I would recommend looking around for a different stats professor.
TAKE HER! The lectures are easy to understand. The HW (6 total) for this class is online and the tests (6 total) are fair and are 20 multiple choice questions. She is enthusiastic about ECON. There are also discussions to do that are also easy. She gives many extra credit opportunities and makes the class enjoyable. Attendance is taken seriously.
I believe this was her first time teaching a stat class, Tests can be very difficult if you don't dedicate the time outside of class to learn the material, it's not an Easy A by any means, but wilsker offers a lot of opportunities to increase your grades including Case problems, and dropping 2 of your lowest tests grades, attend and participate too
I have taken her for several classes and love her. She really try's her best to cover the material in an easy to understand manner. This wasn't the easiest class just because off the material, but she offers a lot of extra credit to help your grade. I would definitely take her again for any class. Had her for Econ as well and she was great take her
Dr. Wilsker was one of the most caring professor I have ever seen. If there was a question that you didn't understand in class, she would 99.99% answer it, even if the question was repeated over and over again. Although reading the book was not required, but it would definitely help getting you an A.
By far the best professor that I have had at GGC. I have taken her twice. Once for Econ and once for STAT. She teaches with inspiration and focus. I am NOT a math person but I made A's in both courses. Sit in the front, listen, study and communicate.
THIS IS THE REAL TEA ABOUT PROFESSOR WILSKER! Let me start off that she has a great personality, but her personality alone will not help you pass this class. I believe this class is a set up for failure. She does not follow the book and she does not have any power points. TRUST ME! YOU WILL STRUGGLE IN THIS CLASS, IF YOU DECIDE TO TAKE IT!
She is awesome! Definitely take her. She cares about everyone passing, but it will NOT come easy. You will definitely have to study outside of class. Lectures alone will not be enough. She gives an extra credit opportunity. She likes what she does and I think it makes all the difference. Inspiring!, great personality.
She has quiz no exams. She also has a paper for Macro that is mandatory and offers to submit early for feedback and usually makes paper due by the day you would take your final. Also no final optional final which is if did bad on quiz and want to improve 2 quiz grades can retake quiz with different questions. Participation is important.
Great professor, granted i took her class about 3 years ago. I can still say he was one of my best ever. She made me understand Economics from a whole different perspective
Took her for Econ shes super funny and enjoys what she teaches. Shes straight up and she does not sugar coat but shes never rude about it. Few tests all 20 multiple choice questions over whats discussed in class. Lots of class discussion. Would DEFINITELY recommend/take again!!
She was really interesting and funny and was really good at being unbiased.
4 exams, 2 papers, NO final exam (she gives a class survey instead). She is very clear about her opinions and unbiased and treat all of her students with respect. Pay attention in class and the tests will be easy af. Amazing professor!
My favorite professor by far, she is very understanding and teaches so well. Definitely take if you want to learn something useful for life.
Wilsker is a great professor who really cares about her students. She focuses on topics that are relevant to everyday life like immigration, labor markets, and financial literacy. There are several extra credit opportunities. And, you also have the option of either doing volunteer work or writing a research paper at the end of the semester.
I loved this class! She made me more interested in economics than I thought I could ever be. She usually begins class by having the class discuss political matters that can have an impact on the economy. There were 5 quizzes and no final (unless you wanted to take the alternative final which was to replace two quizzes). Attend and listen!
Very difficult class especially if things don't come easily to you. 5 quizzes, No power points. All she does is talk and write on the board so you are in charge of taking full notes on whatever she says. However, you will definitely have to use textbook a lot in order to understand material in depth because for me class notes weren't enough.
Dr. Wilsker has an amazing personality so her energy will keep you engaged. There arent any ppts but it was better because she wont make you learn extra crap. Write what she writes and practice it because thats what the quizzes are on. 5 units 5 quizzes. No homework except for few discussion. One big paper / volunteer day and gives extra credit!!
As a person, she's great but she sure does make you work for your grade. The tests were extremely hard and notes are literally based on whatever she's saying. 5 tests - 60% of the grade, discussions - 20% and you get a choice of either writing a paper or community service - 20%. The community service and hw helped a lot and lots of extra credit.
she makes econ interesting. take her if you want to learn about econ.
Dr. Wilsker is the best economics teacher. She does takes attendance. Gives extra credit opportunities. Her class has no textbook so I recommend recording her lectures and the review days. Only 4 tests with about 25 questions. One presentation, one position paper and a volunteer opportunity instead of another paper. Highly recommend her!
She's okay. She's great at lecturing but there's actual lecture... just her talking. So you'll have to write down everything she says. Overall it's a fun class.
okay all i can really say is she is a phenomenal teacher, gives optional times to turn in work. Tests are very simple and easy and really are based off whats learned in class.
As long as you go to class and take notes on the lectures, youll do fine. Theres not an extremely heavy workload, but there are a few essays and a presentation.
Dr. Wislker is a great professor. Attendance does matter, but she'll still count you if you're late. Her tests are mostly easy, I just tripped up on a few questions. She always made class entertaining and I really enjoyed having her as a professor.
I have never struggled so much in a class. I tried tutoring and getting help but it seemed like no matter what I could not succeed in this class. She felt condescending and didn't really explain why things were wrong. Extremely discouraging to see low assignment grades bring down my average and for good discussion/quizzes to not make a dent. Cried.
Great professor! Gives you plenty of opportunities for extra credit. Attendance in class is important because her lessons will contain all the info you need for the tests. She really breaks down macroeconomics and helps you understand. She answers any questions students have. She drops a HW and discussion at the end of the semester. Easy class!
I love this professor. i struggle in econ but the way she broke everything down made it easy to understand. Only thing i didn't like about the class is that you had 2 options either volunteer at JA or write a 3 to 4 pg essay. but due to pandemic of 2020 we had to switch to online classes and all JA dates was cancelled so we had to writ e the paper.
She definitely cares for her students. Took her over the summer and while juggling many things, she was always there and ready to help. Lectures are interesting and class is easy as long as you pay attention. Definitely recommend taking her if you can!
a cool teacher, but for online her teaching style was hard for me to grasp. She will post youtube videos that you need to watch before the virtual lecture and sometimes it got to be confusing for me. We do not use a text book and she post readings to go with the topics. The test come from a giant pool so you need to know big concepts to do well.
She posted khan academy videos and readings to watch and then gave lectures that were very hard to understand given the fact that it is very confusing to gather information from her and videos and readings from another sources, the test were from a pool of question she creates and they are very hard!!
Dr. Wilsker was an amazing teacher i would recommend her to anyone. She is so sweet and kind and you can see how passionate she is about teaching. Honestly going into this class i thought i was going to hate economics but she made economics more interesting.
The best professor I ever had at GGC. Way too kind, really wants to help you pass, I did the least and she still cared to help me out. Very thankful. Do not hesitate to join her class.
I cannot stress enough to not take this teacher if you can. She's OK, but its the lack of assignments and the tests that get you. She doesn't use a textbook, just videos she makes or from khan academy. The concepts aren't easy to learn and the tests she makes can be difficult. You only get graded on home works, exams and one or two other things. :(
She is super duper cool. She is good at teaching economics. Preferably take here in-person classes if you want to buckle down and actually learn the basics if you plan on majoring in some business. Grades mainly on exams and assignments and 2 projects. Though I took online so it was hard and had to do a lot of self study with materials she posted.
Super nice teacher who makes econ interesting. Explains things well, but make sure you go to class so you can hear her explanation as that is what will be on the exams. Exams are online and are not incredibly hard. Good teacher.
This class is very difficult but Dr. Wilsker will help you every step of the way! She is very caring and will always take time to explain a topic to you and always answers emails sufficiently. I recommend her! Just remember this is a hard class and you will have to put in the work.
Dr.Wilsker is a very kind professor. The course is laid simply and everything builds on each other. There were only two short assignments per month. One being a written assignment and one being a study guide like Q&A. Overall, if you are in class and paid enough attention, the test will look 1:1 for what she said in class. ++lots of extra credit.
She made a very complicated subject make since. She was a very wonderful teacher!
Great professor with great insights and advice.
I loved her! Take her. She was the sweetest and you will learn so much. Favorite class
I had Amanda for Macroeconomics, even though I received a B minus, she is overall a great professor that tries to give many opportunities for you to end up with a good grade. She loves when students participate, she's very clear on her material teachings, and the hw assignments she gives out. I'd recommend taking in person instead of online though.
I took this class over the summer and let me just say it was by far the easiest class I have ever taken because of the way the professor teaches and organizes things. It was just homework assignments and tests and her lectures made it easy to understand and pass. Highly recommend.
i took her for both macro and micro and shes amazing!!! you only have hw and tests ( 4 hw and 3 tests including an optional final) i recommend her
Dr. Wilsker is an amazing professor who is both knowledgeable and easy to talk to. Her class is well-organized, making it easy to follow along. She offers extra credit opportunities and is always willing to help students succeed. Attendance is mandatory, so as long as you attend class you'll pass.
This teacher is the best and knows what she's teaching. I took her for two semesters in a row, both online and face-to-face and I have no complaints honestly. Ps: she doesn't like people using ChatGpt.
Professor Wilsker is very sweet and passionate about teaching. The class is challenging, but she's helpful and gives lots of opportunities to succeed. unstuckstudy was a lifesaver for exam prep.
i've taken her twice once for macro n once for micro. Very easy class. 4 units 4 tests 4 hw and attendace grade, and a volunteer grade or you could do an essay
Dr. Wilsker is a phenomenal professor. She has a personality that makes class enjoyable and she was able to connect with every student Aside from a great personality, she is incredibly smart. I feel incredibly lucky to have had a professor of her caliber. She WANTS you to understand economics. You can tell by how she teaches.
She's the best! I wish other professors were as awesome as her!
she's ok but not the best. a bit passive aggressive. very against using AI but she uses it herself? no hw. reflections every week. her videos are simpler to understand than the lectures. final exam is optional if youre passing. she uses dry markers on the board so...shes not bad, but she could do better at creating a more welcoming environment.
Very aggressive professor. Uses expo markers that are dry on the white board so people in the back can hardly see. The course definitely could do a better job on making people feel integrated in the classroom. Professor is against AI but will use AI to create an entire exam even if there are mistakes. I never really understood the philosophy.
4700 is really hard. If you ever take her for an upper division, be really good at being able to explain the concepts in layman's words. If you get the math wrong but the concept right, you could get 10/10 points on test questions. Take advantage of her office hours, ask questions, and don't skip lectures. It's a class that's hard to catch up on.
