She knows her stuff and is easy to listen to and helpful if you see her during office hours. Just don't plan on slacking off in her class.
If you show up to class everyday this class will be no problem. The tests never have anything that she doesn't cover in class, and she is very willing to help you after class if you don't understand something
Just be sure to show up, pay attention, and read the tests carefully, if you do that the class isn't too bad!

Awesome Person. Great teacher.
Very willing to help you. Doesn't provide studyguides for tests but if you go to class everyday and take notes, you'll be alright. She is a great professor, very knowledgable and likable. Homwork assignments and article critques can be hard but ask questions and you'll do fine. She is awesome!
Lot of writing for this course. Tests are fair but class is HARD.
she is very good
good luck if she is the only one teaching this--hope you have A LOT of extra time to study--
If you show up to class everyday, you will have no problem. Her tests are relatively straight forward and she gives you opportunities for extra credit.
Amani is very good at explaining the material well and the tests are pretty easy and straight forward.
She is one of the most organized teachers. She puts lecture notes on overheads. Her tests are fair and clear. She is very helpful. She prepares students well for future classes.
She is one of the best teachers that I have ever had because she is extremely fair and highly organized. She also directs group conversations well, lectures powerfully, and learns students' names.
Awesome teacher. Fun to listen to. Fun to watch.
Great teacher. It is important to come to class. In addtion you must read the book to do well on her tests
She was one of the best profs I have had. Very organized power points, interesting subject matter, and medium difficulty mult. choice tests. She is very approachable and gives extra credit opportunities. However, you should read the book or you may have trouble on tests.
she's by far the best professor i've ever had- she knows her****, and is so organized. if you go to class (some people skip a lot... she doesnt take attendence), and read the book while taking good notes, its not too difficult- you have to make an effort tho. I'm so glad i took her class!
good teacher overall... but you have to work to get the grade. they are mult choice test, however, just goin to class isnt going to cut it. read and reread and ull do just fine.. basically memorize the notes and ull get the grade!
Dr. Amani is a great teacher, love her classes!
She knows her stuff and wants you too was well. Read the book, attend class and you will do alright. Doesnt let you work on any of the assignments with other people.
She's great. Gives interesting presentations, examples, and videos. Very cheerful, approachable, and helpful. If you show up to class and read the chapters out of the book you will do fine. Also take good notes. If you miss a day get them from someone you trust to be thorough. The tests were mult. choice. Not tricky! I recommend her everyone.
Great class. Just make sure you commit your notes to memory, and browse the book if you want to do well on your tests. She gives extra credit opportunities so take advantage of it. She doesn't take attendance, but you'll miss a lot of notes if you skip all the time. I highly recommend.
Great teacher, her tests are not easy, however as long as you show up take notes and read the chapters you will do alright. It is a hard class to get an A in but really informative.
She is really hard, but you learn a lot
Wow, the worst teacher I've ever had!!! She has no patience, and acts like she rather not be there. Really not a good teacher.
She is ok, straight forward and to the point. At times I felt she acted cold and rude. Most likely I would not take another class from her, there are many other GREAT professors in this department to learn from. She needs to try and teach outside the box!
Yea it is true that she is hard and expects ALOT from her students. But if you work with her and ask for her help, she is SUPER helpful and very smart. Her critiques and revisions are crazy and sometimes mean, but hey no one likes hearing critiques, but it made me a better writer. If you take time to get to know her, she's really nice and helpful.
I don't understand some of the negative comments, perhaps she had a bad quarter. She was never rude and always extremely willing to help and explain things that should be clear after taking psyc 100
She is a great teacher. Her social psych class was for two days, 2 1/2 hours, but she made it interesting! Multiple choice is easy if you read the book and listen to lecture. Also have her for seminar on self-perception biases. She's funny and smart and really nice. Take what you can from her!
She was a decent teacher, I didn't really commit my time to her class and I ended up getting a 3.2. Sometimes her tests are tricky, but if you don't read the book it may seem that way. If you read and reread the book and memorizing the things she emphasis then you'll be good. Show up to class though, dont skip, and take advantage of the extra cred
She's an amazing teacher, but don't expect the class to be easy. If you're willing to attend class and take serious notes you'll do well. Definitely worth the work though-- fascinating subject taught by a wonderful professor.
Self-perception Bias seminar- Interesting class, learned a lot about self-perception. Have to do weekly questions, participate, and a final presentation. Do not take the class if you don't like to speak in front of others, that is all you do. Dr. Amani is a wonderful professor, always chipper and happy to be there.
She is one smart cookie!! Dr. Amani is awesome at encouraging everyone to share their point of view, and takes an active interest in what each person has to say. She has a great sense of humor, and really is passionate about what she teaches. She is not an easy teacher, but not an impossible one, either. Smiles a lot and communicates well. Take her
She seems like she is great at teaching Psych, but when it comes to Stats for Social Sciences... FORGET it! She just slaps stuff up on the board, and when I ask for help, I don't have a clue what she is trying to get across. This is her first quarter teaching this class, there is room for growth.
Spring 2011 was her first quarter teaching the class. She was pretty horrible. Has a REALLY hard grading scale. We flew through everything. Her tests were nearly impossible to get points on unless you were perfect. She LOVES scantrons. Honestly, Attending daily doesn't help understand the material.
This class was hard! Covers a lot of stuff and fast but it was cool stuff to learn.
Horrible. She was charming at first but got incredibly rude. I did ok on her tests, I averaged an 80% until I dropped her. She was so rude to some of the girls is was disgusting. I don't know how she still teaches there.
She's really nice and if she doesn't know the answer to your question she'll find out asap. Tests are about once a week and theres a lot youre supposed to read but you can skim and only read what she didn't lecture on and be fine. Go to class and take good notes. Offers a lot of extra credit to help! Only psych teacher Ive had but I liked her class
For a 100 level class, she did exactly what I needed her to do. She was very informative, kept a very steady pace in lecturing. There were many times in the quarter that I lost track of time because I was taking notes and listening. Tests are lecture heavy, but she will sneak some book questions in. If you go to class, you'll do fine.
Psyc 100 friendly, but does not offer much help. Her class is all tests no homework. She does not use canvas and will NOT give out her power points so make sure you have a friend to copy notes off of if you miss. The class consists of week long lectures then a test. I do not recommend her for people who do not do well on tests and miss class.
Would not take again. Avoid this professor if you can, just trust me!
A lot of tests, but they were all relatively small and much better than huge exams. You will need to read the text and will most definitely need to take notes. Somewhat challenging but if you enjoy the subject, she is an excellent professor. Makes difficult terms relateable to every day life.
Attendance is not mandatory, but if you want a passing grade you either have to show up for class or get good notes from a friend. There were 8 tests that were all multiple choice in class. She drops the lowest test grade and gives out a little bit of extra credit. She is a very good lecturer and overall I enjoyed this class.
Good teacher, class is repetitive. Long lectures with a test every couple weeks or so. Always there for help when you need it. Only grades you have for the class are test grades and one extra credit paper. Not my kind of class, but easier for others.
Every day you show up and she lectures and you take notes and go home. The tests are easy IF YOU ATTEND CLASS. She refers to videos she shows in class or conversations she had in class. She also throws in some questions from the book but other than that I never used the book. She doesn't post the notes online so you HAVE to go to class for notes.
Fantastic class would love to have her as a professor again
I've taken 3 classes with Dr. E, love her! Very clear and organized, and also nice and funny. Definitely show up to class, but shouldn't that be a given for any class? Show up, take notes, read, and you'll be golden.
There's a lot of tests.
She is very clear and straightforward. Class is purely lecture, tests and some extra credit. Test about every 2 wk. Lectures are awesome; combined with some videos and pictures. If you attend class everyday and pay attention you will pass. Scan through book before tests and cover 2-4 topics she didn't cover. Lect are not posted. Test is mult choice
Excellent teacher, I took her graduate level stats class. She really makes you work for a good grade. She is very supportive and helpful if you need to ask her for extra help. Just make sure to show up to class and you will do well.
She is a very VERY boring. I had this class 3x a week and it was lectures, notes, study and pray you do well on the test
Take her if you're willing to go to class every day and read the assigned readings. That being said, going to class and taking notes is really not that difficult (notes are off of powerpoint), and there is not too much reading. With extra credit opportunities and straightforward tests you would have to try to not get a 4.0.
This class was amazing, and I really enjoyed her teaching style. There are quite a few important tests, along the lines of every week to a week and a half. Definitely study for this class; you think you'll remember the material and then test comes and whoops. She is engaging, funny, and willing to answer any questions you may have.
She really cares about her students and truly wants them to learn the material. However, her lectures are very heavy so if you miss I highly suggest reading the chapters in the book. Your grade comes from a series of tests throughout the quarter and research participation.
Dr. Amani was amazing. She really made psychology interesting. You will need to go to the lectures bc she will include videos that are shown in class, but if you can get the notes from someone you should be good for the most part. You need to read the book and study for tests to do good on them. This is an easy class if you put in the effort.
Long lectures; however, if you take notes and study before exams you will most likely pass. Offers a few extra credit opportunities and will curve tests if the average is too low.
I have had a handful of professors at this school who couldn't seem to break the concepts down for understanding, and this professor was a breath of fresh air.
She is fantastic at explaining concepts. You cover a LOT of material throughout the quarter, so you have to be a diligent student. It's essentially a lecture every day you have the class. You'll cover both book and powerpoint topics on tests. She also drops your lowest test score, allowing you to skip the final if you do well on previous exams.
Amani is a solid teacher. I took a hybrid course, so sometimes the lectures seemed long, but they were also really interesting. Mainly lecture based, then there are 7 tests, the final is optional if you want to improve your grade. Minor outside assignments, offers extra credit, few questions every test from in the book.
First professor I've caught myself laughing with without realizing it. Only 5 tests, multiple choice, but there are extra credit opportunities. Definitely come everyday, take notes (write examples). Do reading. Did sometimes wish we had time for discussion, but it was a fun class that I thought I wouldn't like. Inspired me to consider grad school.
She's a nice enough professor, but somehow makes even brain surgery (my topic of interest) boring. She takes a ton of unnecessary pauses right in the middle of sentences, which really contributes to the boredom I have experienced. Good thing though is that it's an easy to pass class, it's just that being in class is a very boring experience.
What a classy woman!! Long lectures if you miss you will miss detailed information that are so important on exams. Nice, smart, beautiful Doctor but tough for a 100 level class because she wants you to know the most out of this class. Never learned many material for a class in a while. Come to class take notes watch assigned videos read chapters :)
8 Tests, multiple choice but still difficult.
Only grades in are exams. She goes over at least 24 pages in one 50 min. class. Her exam questions are very tricky. Doesnt prepare you enough. Overall not good.
Her class is really great but I recommend to read the book and study the notes for her tests. It's obvious she really likes teaching the course.
Lectures fill the entire class time and are about 4 pages each day. Amani is great at teaching the curriculum and loves doing it. Tests are multiple choice but there are about 7 of them and your grade is completely based off of them. It was hard to read that much material in the book but if you just study notes and book definitions you will pass.
During COVID, class all online. Willing to work with you, very lecture heavy. Take notes on the lecture during class or with the posted recording and you can use it as a study guide on the Exams. Few assignments posted for very little so do them all to get all the points. Class success: listen to lecture, notes on it, do assignments, do all exams
My favorite professor from EWU so far. She was always very accommodating and understanding due to corona and had us take a couple surveys on how wed like the class to run. The class is very lecture heavy but she makes them fun and interesting. 8 exams but lowest grade is dropped, as long as you pay attention and do your work the class is easy.
Dr. E is awesome and probably the most accommodating professor I've had so far. She is more than willing to help and although there's a lot of lectures she makes it very fun. She uses lots of examples so its really easy to understand what she's talking about.
Social Psych is super fun and entertaining. So much of the material is important and fun to learn. The tests are extremely hard and the professor doesn't give much homework. It is very lecture heavy and there isn't much homework which isn't a problem unless you're a bad test taker like me.
She wants her students to succeed. She makes the lectures interesting with her own personal examples, or videos and lets the class share their ideas often even in a class of 100 students. Not too much homework, and she's a nice grader. Tons of extra credit opportunities, and drops lowest test grade.
An amazing professor, I'm hoping to be able to take one of her classes again.
10/10, would take again
Class was super interesting but it was all reading and memorization / understanding based so if you're good at that this class is for you, if you're not (like me) don't even bother. Just make sure to keep up on the readings and go to the lectures, I think it makes understanding that class a tiny bit easier
if you commute like me don't take this class she will not post full PowerPoint so that "you come to class" she is really good at lecture she has great examples that she uses on the test so pay attention and take great notes if you don't show up to class you fail a lot of questions are abt what we talked about in class sooo plan ahead
The exams are very difficult.
Amani is my favorite professor I have had at Eastern! She's really easy to talk to, gives the best lectures, and gives out random good Samaritan extra credit points. The way she formats her lecture slides is also really clear and to the point, so you know exactly what your notes will be about that day. 10/10, WILL TAKE AGAIN!
Really fun and engaging class! Super passionate about all things Psych which makes every lecture interesting!
Really great professor! Super passionate about teaching so every lecture is interesting!
Dr. El-Alayli was a very fun professor. She always smiles, encourages class participation, and is very easy to approach for both in-class material and general questions. She has a great sense of humor but is fairly firm in social expectations (ie, don't be disruptive in class). Note heavy, highly recommend attending class.
Dr. E was amazing. Attendance is important since she adds lecture questions to the exams. No daily assignments but always uploads extra credit assignments to improve grades. She makes uncomfortable lectures feel comfortable and answers questions with the right info. Overall great class. Drops lowest exam grade at the end. Would take it again.
Overall for a level 100 class is was very heavy. This class is a heavy on reading the book and memorizing each and every chapter. You need to attend each lecture as she does not upload the PowerPoints. Only good thing is she does respond to her emails and gives good extra credit opportunities.
Dr. El-Alayli was amazing. I took her class online and she taught in a way that made the material make sense and the course was well-paced. The lectures were helpful and contributed significantly to my understanding of the material. I would highly recommend taking any of her classes, and I will be taking her again if given the chance.
I had her for PSYC 374, cultural psychology. I did not enjoy her class. I don't think I learned anything, and I was constantly frustrated by how she let students ramble on about pseudo-science or bigotry. I think the professor isn't mean, but not good. Played an AI-generated video once without knowing as part of class
Dr. E was amazing, I enjoy her teaching style and lectures a lot. She was very willing to help via office hours and shes good at replying to emails in a timely manner. I think the material was extremely heavy for a 100 class but she gave plenty of other opportunities and extra credit options to keep students well oriented. Would take again for sure
Many optional assignments but I recommend you do take them, they are helpful to your grade because most of the grades you receive are from tests and if you get test anxiety these extra points can save you. She's a great teacher and super nice and you can reach her out of class and she's super easy to talk to. 10/10 recommend
She was a pretty good professor, but she did have some strong opinions about certain things, and wouldn't accept anyone having a different opinion, stating that her opinions were fact and you are uneducated if you disagree. She lectures well and is good at answering questions, though. There are a lot of quizzes in this particular class.
You definitely needed to go to class because taking notes from the lectures were very much needed for the exams. Yes the chapters are long and same with the lectures but if you put in the time to study and read the class is easy. (I only did the chapter reviews at the end of the chapters and study with my notes and passed with a high A) lots of EC
This professor was disrespectful after one negative experience despite multiple efforts to fix the relationship. My grades were affected, and the professor went back to assignments from over a month before and changed the full-mark grades to zeros.
Amani was always super caring and helpful, making sure to give support to who needed it and handling people distrupting the class. Assignments were very easy and only had 1-2 a week getting each done in 10 minutes. material wasnt too bad to learn there was just a lot and your grade depended mostly on test grades. would definitely take again
The professor accused me of using AI for assignments. I did everything I could to show her it was my original work. I recorded myself, and I showed time-stamped notes, but she accused me of lying. She then went back through the gradebook a week before the quarter ended and marked down every single assignment I did, causing me to fail the course.
This professor is not understanding at all. DO NOT take online with her.
Very organized and clear expectations. Willibg to answer any questions. Attendance matters because the lectures are important, and the canvas ebook is well written and chosen.
