Must go to class! Gives exams questions in class. super easy class if you go to class. I hate econ and still got B in this class.
Repeats herself endlessly, makes simple concepts much more complex than they need to be. However, her homework is easy and the tests are made up of questions from the practice exams. Never opened my textbook.
Extremely hard to understand, constantly repeats herself, I'll give her props on how easy she made that tests; you just have to memorize the practice test. Overall, can't stand her
Have to go to class to do well in the class. Repeats herself a lot, but gives you the tests.
Amani is a great instructor. Her lectures are boring, so read the book beforehand so you can follow it easier. Also, sit in the front. As long as you attend lecture, you have opportunity to receive extra credit and test questions that are word for word on the tests. Easy class to get an A in as long as you seek help early and go over practice tests
She was hard to understand at times and would repeat everything constantly. Plus she gets her slides from a website so she seems to get lost at times with them and has trouble following along. She will normally give you answers to the tests before hand but cant be trusted cause they sometimes change.
She is the best professor that I have ever seen, she is such a gambler, never listen her. Never uploading lecture and did not announce about exams. I asked about final exam like 4 times with same question, it was about exam but she lied to me. Even if i got A on this course, you have to spend your time more than 5 credit courses.
I hate this professor literally, if I could back to the past, I must change the lecture section. This professor did not announce any tiny information that is really useful in test through blackboard. Also, her explain was so hard to understand instantly. Above all things, the essay question in exam is really tough to solve in given time, even tho
Lectures are so boring and almost dont matter. Gives Extra Credit in class (only reason I went). Basically gives you the answers in class and on the practice tests, you just have to put forth the effort.
I never went to class. she gives you the exams before the test. she gets mad if u come late or leave early so i didn't ever go to class.
She is a great professor and she always make sure students understand what she is teaching. Knows her material well and encourage students to ask questions. She doesn't like it when people talk in her class which is great cause I get super distracted by it. Always give extra credit just by showing up or doing some simple tasks.
Professor Elobeid sets her class up very nicely. I'm not the best at Econ but she made the class way easier. If you go to office hours, she's really helpful and loves students to contact her for help. She gives a lot of extra credit if you show up and simple assignment. Glad i took Econ 102 with her!
Elobeid has been one of my favorite professors at Iowa State! She gives out a lot of extra credit, but only to those who go to class. GO TO CLASS. She gives you the essay questions to her tests if you go to class which helps out a lot! She my seem "up tight" but she just wants a respectful classroom which I enjoyed! Overall GREAT teacher.
You will do a lot better in the course if you go to class. The only problem with this is the lectures are so long, repetitive and boring you probably won't be able to pay attention. The tests have a long short answer section which makes them very difficult. If you can listen in class and get the test questions from her you will be okay.
She makes the material understandable and relates it to lots of real-world scenarios. She notices if you attend class, so if you're struggling, she goes above and beyond to help you out. Test are mostly multiple choice.
Good teacher but insists on repeating material for much too long. Also in a huge class refuses to use microphone. Hard to pay attention. If you're in this class you'll be fine just put forth effort. If you're signing up for Econ 101 though, pick a different prof.
Amani Elobied is a great economics teacher. She takes you through all of the basics and will go back and help students if they ever need help. She doesn't require that you go to class and if you have a good understanding of basic economics topics you would probably be fine skipping out every once in a while.
If you go to class, you will most likely get extra credit when you show up. So go to class! The exams are given out pre-exam so as long as you study that you should be good. She also holds review sessions, so it should be easy to get an A
She is extremely easy and gives out a lot of extra credit if you attend class. I found the midterms effortless because she gives out sample test with questions from the test. She does get frustrated in class because of low class participation; however, that is understandable because it is bad. Taking Econ 101? I would recommend taking it with her
When she lectures it is like she is talking to a group of 4th graders. It goes so slow I couldn't make it through it and would just zone off, bombed the first test. After that I stopped going to class and have been doing amazing ever since, just do the sample test and if you don't care about extra credit going to class isn't necessary.
She is really good at explaining and relating things to the real world. If you have trouble understanding something then you can go to her after class and she will generally help you. If you go to class, pay attention, and attend the review sessions before the exam then you will get an A. Extremely easy class and it really helped me out.
If you have't had any experience in Econ, make sure you go to class and pay attention. She repeats herself a ton so there is no way not to get the concept, unless you don't pay attention. Exams are easy if you review the practice exams given to you.
She is a really nice lady and as long as you study with the material she gives you, you will do great on the tests.
While Amani may not have the best teaching methods during her lectures, she is seriously the nicest lady you'll ever meet. She gives loads of easy extra credit, is always willing to help people 1 on 1, gives you the exact exam questions ahead of time, and does review sessions before each exam. Just go to class and study and its an easy A.
From Day 1 she told us exactly what we needed to get an A in the class. She gives you a giant practice test with all of the multiple choice question for every test, from which she then picks the questions. It is so easy to get an A as long as you put it the time and attend class! She was awesome and I would highly recommend her.
Awesome Professor and gives a lot extra credit. Go to class and study for the tests and you will be fine.
Amani is hands down the best professor to have for either Econ 101 or Econ 102. If you go to class you can get extra credit. If not just study the sample tests she posts online and you will pass. She takes 25 questions from the tests she posts. If you go to class then you learn what short answer questions will be on the test and how to solve it
She was sometimes rude and condescending when talking to students. Review sessions were helpful, but she was sometimes rude to students for not asking the questions correctly. Overall it was a super easy class, but I would have taken a harder class if I felt like they were more respectful/helpful.
Amani is probably the best econ professor you can have at Iowa state. All tests answers are posted before so all you have to do is memorize the answers. Also gives lots of extra credit just for showing up to class, otherwise it is not mandatory. Very easy class, and homework is easy as well.
The lectures are long and sort of redundant, but the information is clear. She gives a sample test with all of the multiple choice answers, but the written portion is difficult. She gives a lot of extra credit if you go to class.
She's a pretty good professor, and teaches a relatively easy to class to pass. If you do the work and attend class, you will get by with an A. You could maybe pull it out of your ass even if you do not go. She gives extra credit and extra credit assignments for those who do attend lectures. The lectures can be repetitive.
Easy. All her tests are questions from the sample tests. Also, there is a ton of extra credit
Easiest class I have ever taken period. Only buy the MyEcon code and dont buy the book .
She favours those who show up to class. Test parts usually come up during lecture.
Take econ with Elobeid!!!! Especially if you aren't great at econ. She can be repetitive during lecture but it's for your benefit. She tells you what will be on the test if you go to lecture and gives you a study guide that has all the multiple choice questions for the exam.
Best Econ teacher on campus by far. She tells you exactly what will be on the tests. Go to class and you'll get an easy A
Really good professor, I really liked the way of teaching
One of the best ECON teachers at ISU. Go to class, pay attention to her examples and do the sample tests and you'll do fine on the tests. 3 attempts on the homework assignments and also gives out a ton of extra credit so show up for that. Overall, she is a great professor and would recommend her class to anyone considering taking it.
She is a great Econ 101 professor! She goes at a pretty slow pace, and is very understandable. She also gives a lot of extra credit for the people that show up to class, so make sure to go!
I love Amani! Dr. Elobeid is the best econ professor I've had. She gives you all the resources you need to be successful in the course. Attendance isn't required, but if you go she gives out a lot of extra credit! I would love to take another course with her. Her practice exams are nearly the same as the real thing!
Great teacher! You have to pay attention to really understand the material. I would go to class though because she gives keywords that can be used for extra credit on the tests. I would take another class from her! If I would've put in more effort I would've got a much better grade.
Her voice is not monotenous and does a really good job of getting the concept across. Does not put up with anyone'a BS AND I LOVE IT
Dr. Amani was amazing. If you do not go to class, you will get a bad grade. She explains what to study for the exams and al of the short response questions are one step she hasn't worked in class.
Easiest class ever. Gives you sample tests that are the same as exams. Gives lots of extra credit. Do it. It's easy and worth a lot in the end. Gets boring listening to her repeat things over and over but breezed through the semester. One homework assignment per chapter and she always takes more than a week to complete the chapter.
The practice exams she puts on blackboard have the same questions she picks from for the exams. If you show up to class she likes to give out extra credit opportunities and codes for exams. Overall a pretty easy course if you do the weekly homework and look over the practice exams before the exams.
Econ with Amani is possibly the easiest thing you will ever experience. Honestly, if you go to class, you should not have a single problem getting a 93% in the class. If you go to EVERY class and do the extra credit, you've basically earned yourself a 100%. Posts the MC test online with answers before you take it. Tells you in class about the FRQ.
Easiest class I've taken at ISU, hands down. Take Econ with Dr. Elobeid if you can!!!
Easiest class I've ever taken
If you don't go to class, you might struggle on the essay part of the test. Extra credit is given often, but only will know about it if you show up to class. If you don't get an A, it is your own fault. Best professor for Econ 101/102 and an easy A.
One of the best teachers i've had so far. Go to class! She explains the content extremely well, so you don't need to buy the book. She also offers extra credit through TopHat & other quick assignments. DO THE PRACTICE EXAMS and the tests will be easy.
I had Amani for Econ 101 and 102 and did extremely well in both. She doesn't take attendance but give random extra credit in class and goes over some of the written test questions. There is a homework assignment about every week but it doesn't take very long to complete.
I really liked Amani as a teacher. Her lectures are not required, but I would highly recommend going because she will tell you exactly what will be on the test and give you extra credit. She does a great job explaining the material and will always put things in simple "every day language" which really helps. Her tests were really long and hard.
I would highly suggest taking any course with Dr. Amani. She understands that Econ is not everyone's forte, and works hard to ensure people still gain something from the class. Extra credit is SO IMPORTANT, so do it. I will reward you when it comes down to the final exam, plus its easy points. Go to class & go to office hours! Caring & helpful.
Gives extra credit. Lectures: She helps you understand by talking in every day language. Go and you should be solid on exams and hmw. Try not to miss! Best teacher I've had! Truly helps outside of class if needed.
Amani is a fantastic professor! She thoroughly explains everything and won't rush through the material if students are asking questions and seem confused. She gives out many extra credit opportunities if you go to class. Show up for lecture and you'll pass the class.
Amani is an AMAZING professor, I will be taking her for Econ 102. I never really enjoyed Econ in high school but she made me learn to like it. Tests are not that hard if you study. She gives you a practice exam before the exam and if you memorize those questions you will be fine. She normally tells you the short answer that will be on the exam.
Your grade is made of tophat, tests, and homework assignments. She gives you three midterms but drops your lowest score. She's super understanding and is willing to work with you to make sure you understand things.
Easiest class I have ever taken at Iowa state. She does a good job at explaining concepts in everyday language and walking through everything she demonstrates. Answers questions thoroughly when asked.
Amani is my favorite professor here on campus. She goes at a slow rate to make sure that students really understand the subject. She pulls multiple choice questions straight from the practice exams so study those religiously. If you show up and take notes, you'll get an A in this class.
Amani was a great professor. Exams are multiple choice and short answer, if you attend lecture then she tells you as she covers material, exactly what will be on the exam. Tons of extra credit. Small amount of homework for each chapter. No reason you can't get an A if you attend lectures.
Dr. Amani is an excellent professor. She truly cares about the success of her students. She gives out a lot of extra credit and gives sample exams with the exact questions on the actual exam. Excellent lectures. She only has two rules: don't come late and dont talk. I highly recommend Amani. She is great
Dr. Amani is a great professor. Highly recommend taking a class with her. She gives excellent lectures and is always willing to help. Gives lots of extra credit. Go to class, she tells you what is on the exam.
Amani is a great professor, she goes over everything slowly and explains it in detail. She also gives a lot of extra credit out if you attend classes. She is very easy to talk to out of class and cares about her students
Overall great professor. Very thorough with her explanations. She tells you exactly what concepts will be on the exam in class. I really enjoyed her class.
Homework is easy. Tests are easy IF you go to class. She defiantly rewards students who go to class such as extra credit and exam questions. Do not need the book! Final is worth 30% of your grade but if you go to class it will be easy.
Strict on students coming in late or leaving early, and isn't afraid to call you out for being loud in class. However she does a very good job of explaining the material, and genuinely cares about student success. She has plenty of extra credit opportunities for those that show up to class too!
Ms. Amani is the best professor in Iowa State. Just GO to class and STUDY two days earlier for each exam, and I guarantee you a straight A. She gives lots of extra credit during class, if you do not go, you missed it.
Very solid professor. Each individual exam is 25% of grade (she takes the two best of the three), so take seriously. The sample tests she gives are literally word for word, so study those hard and then the written questions she gives you in class. I highly recommend her as a professor. Very thorough. Go to class!!
Great teacher, really makes sure you learn the material, like REALLY MAKES SURE. She goes over things 200 times before moving on. Despite being a good teacher and lecturer, she has a real attitude. Very rude to students who try to sneak in late to an early, non-mandatory lecture. Sorry college is hard and we aren't perfect like she is.
Amani really wants her students to succeed. She gives test answers in class and mentions multiple times that they will be on the test. Tests can be long, but everything on it you have shes to the answers for ahead of time.
Good person, bad teacher.
She's super nice, but never come late to class. She'll call you out in front of everyone in the lecture hall.
I can very easily say this that she's the best professor I have taken classes with during my college career. She makes sure you get the material. Always available and willing to help and wants her students to succeed. Simply the best professor.
Amani is one of the professors that plans and organizes this study abroad class to the UAE. She really cares about her students and wants them to get outside their comfort zone. This class taught me to look at things through a different lens. Show up to class, do your best, add to the conversation, easy (and fun) A for this class. 100% recommend.
Overall, taking Amanis class was ok. However, when she says there will be 25 multiple choice questions and 1 short answer for your first midterm, dont believe her. She has about 10 short answer questions that you need to be ready for. Otherwise, Amani has a no nonsense personality, and cares about her students. + If your late to class, dont come.
Amani was great in lecture. She used multiple forms of examples to get an idea across. However, this means its is almost essential you go to lecture if you want to to well. It's easy to tell yourself to skip - but don't. You'll thank yourself once finals come around. Overall, Amani's class wasn't too bad.
Great teacher, was able to email with quick response. One test was dropped. Take advantage of extra credit and study sample tests all multiple choice questions come from them. Tells class what the short answer questions will be If you show up. Just showing up will get you extra credit at the end.
Took Econ 101 and 102 with Amani. You pretty much have to go to lectures to know what is going on in the class. If you take notes, she tells you exactly the type of problem that's going to be on the exam and tells you to mark it down. If you don't understand something, go to her office hours and she'll give you the exact notes you need for the exam
Amani is a really good lecturer and tells you exactly what is going to be on exams. The homework assignments can get a little confusing, but she's always available for questions. She's a solid choice and you'll do well as long as you show up to lectures and take good notes.
Great professor for this course. Econ is not my thing at all but this professor helped me understand it and I managed to get an A. She lets you know what will be on the exams so there is no confusion. If you attend the lectures and take notes you'll be good for the exams. The homework can be hard sometimes. Put in work and you'll get a good grade.
As a person, Dr Amani was very nice and her lectures were engaging. But, her syllabus was misleading. She wrote attendance would not be taken/wasn't mandatory. But she did take attendance on top hat and if you were absent, your grade was impacted. Extra credit was said to be optional, but your grade was affected negatively if you did not do it.
If you show up, pay attention, and take notes you will be fine. When the class went online, she made the appropriate accommodations. You will know exactly what will be on the exams. Attendance is "optional" but she takes attendance for extra credit so just show up. DON'T BE LATE, she will call you out and is one of her biggest pet peeves.
Amazing at communication and extremely helpful answering my questions. Her voice can sometimes grate the ears but you'll come to love how clear confident she teaches/talks. Knows her stuff, really tries her best for the students, and is a sweetheart deep inside. She cares about you lots, especially if you care about learning/understanding
The class was all online due to COVID, there were lectures online, she does a great job explaining the content, and is always happy to help if you have questions.
Amani was very understanding with the whole Covid thing, and gave lots of extra credit opportunities and practice problems to ensure understanding.
Great person, bad teacher. Her test for econ 235 was nothing like what she talked about in class. Doesn't grade on a curve. Canvas won't show your accurate grade because she won't go through the effort to weigh it correctly so you won't know your grade until it's too late. Also talks super fast in lectures, hard to follow.
Hard class that requires some effort, but she is a good teacher who cares and does more than just read a power point.
Class was fairly difficult but Dr. Amani was always giving out extra credit for attending class. Would say there was an extra credit opportunity every week. Lectures were fairly long but receiving extra credit for attending was always worth it. Dont miss a class
The class was difficult for me, but if you put in the work and study you'll be fine. Professor Elobeid gives a lot of extra credit opportunities, exams are in class and she tells you exactly what will be on the exam. She explains everything more than once and answers questions. She is your best bet for Econ 102.
Attendance is NOT mandatory, but she offers extra credit every time the class attendance is below 70%. There are very few things to be graded by, so ATTEND CLASS! She does not post most things online because she wants you to go to class, and you will get points for going to class. GO!
Amani is a great teacher, but I have one gripe. Exams will have 25 -30 questions. Exam Study guides will have around 200-250 questions. And our final exam study guide was 54 pages, 750 questions. This is just absurdly difficult to study, and it feels impossible with other classes.
I had her my freshman year for econ 101 and 102. Best way to start college. She was a tough grader and had a lot of topics to cover, but god was she a great teacher. Genuinely still think about her and how she is one of my favorite teachers of all time.
Amani's approach to teaching is that you sit there and write down every word of her lectures. They seem to take forever, are extremely redundant, and are borderline incoherent. I hated every second of classtime. For exam prep she gives you 300+ multiple choice questions with the answers and 50 might be on the exam.
Amani is a great teacher and this is a great class if you want to learn more about the ag markets, espically corn. However, she tends to lecutre on and on about things until about 30 minutes left of her class to than go over the new material. Besides that, I definetly suggest this class as it is also a very easy class to help boost your GPA.
Worst professor I've ever had, you can tell she does not care about her students. You have to write down every word she says. The study guides are also terrible and no help.
The class takes effort, but the professor explains concepts well. Study guides are extensive, but tools like Unstuckstudy can help manage the workload. Overall, a challenging yet rewarding course.
All the lectures are her writing on a screen, so if you miss class, you miss the entire lecture since she doesn't post her notes. She also tends to teach something wrong and then has to re-due a whole section to correct herself. The study guides are hundreds of questions long and all the students were pushing to finish on time during exams
Lectures were hard to follow. Exams were not straightforward and the average was in the 55-65% range. It also takes her weeks on weeks to grade exams so you never know what your grade is really at. When she says your exam grades will be put in the next day they will not be and it will take another week to even see them.
