Most people can just skip this lecture, and the discussions, and be fine. This teacher asks for feedback and cares about us. Put some tests online due to illnesses or breaks. Also gave us options for zoom, so we can go home early for some breaks. does quizzes for participation grades. Make sure to bring a notebook for notes, lots of diagrams!
He def knows what he is talking about and has very clever examples to help us understand topic. Lots and lots of graphs, he doesn't focus too much on definitions, so that part you will have to use the textbook for. Overall easy course, he is very kind when you need to ask him questions.
the homework is extremely hard to understand, graph heavy and nothing like we learn in class. Its an easy class, very minimal work, but the homework every two weeks takes me hours and hours and i still end up with a 70
The only good thing about the class is that all of his tests are online. However, to get a good grade on the homework and the tests you def need chegg or coursehero. It felt as though his lectures had no lesson plan and sometimes they would only last 30 minutes. Homeworks are ridiculously difficult and would take me hours just to get an 85 on it
Such boring lectures, does not listen to his students whatsoever or answer any questions. Most of the tests are online but he still wont tell us if the final will be online or in person or if its cumulative or not and the final is in a week. The homework questions are unnecessarily frustrating and are nothing like the test. Do not take this class.
It's honestly a relatively easy class. Papers due every 2 weeks, only 500-1000 words. A good amount of reading is necessary and it's two movies per paper, but if you can understand and develop the reading/movie into your own perception then you're basically set. The TA determines the grade. No final. Approximately 7 papers total.
This class was the worst class I've ever taken. The homework was so long, and confusing, and I'd work on it for hours just to get a 62. The tests are online, but oftentimes the tests will say to "refer to a graph" and there is nothing there. I'm not looking forward to knowing my grade for this class.
This class was probably the worst class I've taken. Sharma is absolutely unresponsive and does not care about his students at all. The homework is atrocious because it is ridiculously hard and not explained at all. A homework average should not be 20 points less than either of the tests. If you could avoid taking an Econ class with Sharma: I would.
Terrible. Homework assignments through Pearson that were impossible. Graded them on accuracy, even though majority of the class was doing bad on them. Does not care about his students at all. Econ160 is probably not hard but with this professor it felt impossible to succeed in this class.
Class is pretty straight forward. Watch two films (in class), per week and about 3 readings and write a 500-1000 word paper per week. No exams, no quizzes, no final, just papers. Lowest paper dropped. I must say, this was the easiest A I have ever gotten at Binghamton and the grading is really fair on the papers. If you can take this class, do it!
Prof Sharma knows a lot about the microeconomics and made all our tests online. However the homework is too hard and are nothing like what we learn in lectures.
Prof. Sharma was an alright professor. He seemed to know his stuff and did an ok job conveying the material. At the very least, I was engaged in class and was able to follow along. I recommend reading the slides before class as they are quite helpful. The HW was quite ridiculous being timed and unnecessarily difficult at 20% of the overall grade.
His lectures are okay at reviewing material but you really won't do well if you don't read the textbook/the slides he posts. All of his exam questions are taken straight from the textbook so if you know how to do everything that is covered, you should be fine. Econ wasn't my best subject but it honestly probably isn't that hard to get a good grade.
homeworks are really hard, good thing is all the test were online and if you did hw/read slides, you shoud be fine. i got a B because i stopped showing to class and also econ wasn't my subject i guess. sometimes it's hard to hear/follow what he say but he does stop to ask if anyone understand him
Professor Sharma is the most amazing professor that I have had the opportunity to learn from. He explains difficult econ concepts in a way that makes sense. His knowledge of economics is truly outstanding. He is very helpful, but you need to approach him for that. His classes are interactive, so don't expect long lectures.
This was an online class. The lecture videos were great and helped in learning. The course flowed smoothly and everything was made available in Brightspace to succeed. The professor and the TAs were available for extra help when I needed.
He is a very good professor who cares about his students success. This course requires you to watch movies and read assigned journal articles. Some articles are very technical, but he will explain it in a laymans terms and makes it accessible. Be prepared to write a paper every two weeks. No exams. Learned a lot from this course.
I liked his lectures because he writes everything on the whiteboard instead of just relying on the PowerPoint slides that most professors use. He never uses any notes, just teaches everything from memory. He goes over every concept in detail and will ask if students understood or not. Encourages to ask questions and helpful outside of the class.
383D has to be one of the best classes in the econ department. The whole class is just watching movies (which are usually pretty good) and writing short papers about them. You have to read a few articles with each movie too. Prof. Sharma is not too strict and clearly explains the concepts in how they relate to the movies.
There really isn't much to say about him, although he is very good at answering questions, like he'll dumb it down for you. His 2 tests and 2 homework's are not brain-burning, but not easy, and those 4 things are your entire grade so some might enjoy that, and some may not. A little speech barrier but nothing too bad, overall, a solid teacher.
Sharma's class was ok. He's a pretty nice and caring person, but he's not that great of a teacher. Honestly, his homework assignments were more difficult than tests. Just glad I was able to get an A- in the end. I wouldn't take it again.
Dr Sharma is an excellent professor who cares about students' learning. I regularly attended his classes and learned a lot from his lectures. He explains difficult concepts in a very simple manner. Attending classes is important to do well in his course. He is always available to meet you outside of the class as well.
Sharma is a great professor. Looking forward to taking upper level classes from him. He explains everything very clearly.
If you need micro for your major, take sharma. His entire class is just quizzes that are all over Chegg and Quizlet. Zero effort put in and got an A. TAKE HIM
Professor Sharma's video lectures were great to comprehend the course materials. Be prepared to watch the videos and read the textbook to do well in this course. He makes it relatively easier to pass the course but to get an A, you have work very hard.
We fell behind the syllabus by about a day because he missed a lot of class and cancelled lectures so the pop quizzes were all on things we hadn't learned at the time. The midterm and final make up 70% of the grade which is insane. Pick a professor who doesn't weigh the grades this way.
This is a great class to learn microeconomics. His lectures are very straightforward and clear. He follows the course plan laid out in the syllabus and that makes it very easy to keep track of all the learning. I saw someone writing that he cancels class, it's not true. He never cancels classes. I would definitely recommend him.
This is for 360. The lecture has very little to do with the tests and assignments, hard to reach outside of class, the problem sets are what you learn from yet the TAs do not know how to teach them or what is going on.
His lectures are excellent. Problem sets are important to do well so make sure you regularly attend those as well. Three exams and few attendance quizzes make up for the total grade.
If you are taking this because you are an envi major this will probably be your worst course. Lectures aren't helpful and he only grades off of pop quizzes, 2 homework assignments, and the midterm + final. Use the textbook, it's your best hope, but I'd avoid this course at all costs. He knows his stuff, but shouldn't be teaching a lower level class
Literally the worst econ professor I've ever had. Did all the homeworks and went to every class and his tests are actually impossible, and when everyone does horrible he says it's because we aren't "applying ourselves". This class is going to ruin my GPA avoid taking it with him at all costs.
His lecture aren't thorough and you're expected to learn everything through discussion and the TAs are terrible. You basically have to learn everything yourself which is impossible. His tests are not like anything he teaches. Save yourself and take econ 360 with any other person.
not bad
You actually learn economics in this course. Don't take it if you are looking for easy grades.
He acts like he teaches very well and all until it comes to the test. What you learn in class has nothing to do with what he teaches or whats on the HW. He tells you hes doing you a favor making the exams very hard.
I like his teaching. His exams require you to apply the concepts. Take it only if you want to learn but not if you are after easy grades.
All exams and quizzes are given online and answers to almost every question can be found on Chegg and Quizlet. He only gives 2 homework assignments, and all those answers are online too. Discussion is not mandatory and if you go to his office hours, he'll help you a lot. Lectures are easy to follow, and he really knows what he's talking about.
He knows the stuff very well. Straight forward class.
Micro is incredibly difficult. The first midterm was online, people stopped showing up and then felt his wrath in the second midterm to where the whole class failed. Micro isn't ever going to be an easy A. Go to class and study and you'll do fine. Sharma is a nice professor but won't be taken advantage of. Lectures well and is very knowledgeable.
Micro will never be an easy A. I hated going to this class simply because I hated the subject. Professor Sharma is a very good teacher though and explains things very well. We had at least one quiz every week but they only count as 10% of your final grade. Both the midterm and final were online and you could take them from anywhere.
Sharma is a weird professor. Most of the grade was based on tests, with the first test being online, then the second being in person, then the final being online again. His lectures were not very clear and the material is tough to understand. He seemed driven by emotion with a lot of decisions he made. Random attendance quizzes. Avoid if possible
The class is based in 3 tests. His lectures are easy to follow and on topic. Prepares you well for the exams with the problem sets he gives. Most of my did bad so it was easy to get an A. Will move tests to online format if people are doing too bad so I wouldn't worry abt passing.
Sharma is a great guy who is extremely smart. He lectures from his brain, not from notes or a presentation. I wish that we had more graded assessments as 70% of the grade comes from mid-term and final. Although I did okay in the class, I do not think that I gained an understanding of Economics.
He taught pretty relevant material in the lectures imo. The problem sets mimic the exact concepts on the tests, so if you look up the answers and study them you'll do fine. Everyone bombed the second test, but he dropped it because he said he doesn't want one grade to define us. Chill guy, solid professor.
Sharma is a straightforward professor and teaches off memory which can cause errors. There are two exams that are taken at home and online. Most of the in-class quizzes and homework answers are online too. Discussion is absolutely pointless and be sure to have a good TA. If you have to take Micro, take it with Sharma.
Great professor. Knows how to teach Intermediate Macro. Explains concepts very clearly.
DO NOT READ OLD REVIEWS! Sharma changed his entire policies for the Spring 2023, his tests are no longer online/at home, and he reduced the exam time from 1 hour 30 mins to one hour but the test is still 50 questions. The Midterm is 30% of your grade, and the final is 40%, he is always very boring. Would not recommend
Dr. Sharma is the best Econ professor at BU. Gives good examples to explain concepts.
Everything was online and you only had 4 assignments throughout the whole semester(This includes midterm and final). Don't mess up on the problem sets and cram for midterms and you will do fine. The professor is nothing too special, apparently he goes through the curriculum differently so be weary. Overall, not too bad.
If you have no academic integrity, he is your man. Otherwise, the other option is better. Will claim the final will be impossible to Google and then make it impossible to pass WITHOUT Googling. Has no problem giving students who he knows are cheating easy As.
I found him to be an effective professor. He is straight forward in terms of covering the course material. His exams are harder and taken in person though conducted online. Getting an A is difficult but passing the course is not hard if you complete all the course requirements.
Pretty good professor. lectures were very useful, but everything said is also in the text book. Graded by pop quizzes, 2 homework assignments, midterm, and final. He explains things clearly and is ready to elaborate if asked to. It will be easier to pay attention if you sit closer to the board.
I really liked Sharma. His lectures were easy to understand, and he would crack some monotone jokes! there are pop quizzes for attendance, so pay attention in class and take notes. Very good at answering questions, and his lectures are based off of textbook. 2 home works, one midterm and the final (not many grades, make sure you do well on exams)
You won't learn a single thing in this class. You might get an A (if you cheat), but in one month's time you'll be hard pressed to remember a single thing he taught you. He has taken the path of least resistance by giving virtual tests to raise grades instead of actually being a competent teacher
This is the type of teacher who will be replaced by AI in the coming years
He was absolutely awful. His lectures were mediocre. I tried to do the course legit and it is near impossible to do well because the tests are designed to reward cheaters. Dropped the second exam where all the cheaters bombed and the kids who tried did well. Terrible professor, do not take unless you'll cheat.
I took his Econ 360 last year and Econ 362 this year. He is so far the best Econ professor that I have learned from. Contrary to what some disgruntled students have written about his Econ 360, he did an amazing job. Take his course if you really want to learn solid economics.
This prof is literally the worst and I DO NOT recommend taking him. He's hard to understand sometimes, and the TA's don't rlly know anything about his homework assignments. The midterm was fine, but the final was hella hard and didn't relate to most of the materials it should've covered. Everything is in person now, and the grading system sucks.
Great teacher overall. He understands the material, but be prepared to read the textbook outside of class and do practice problems from Quizlet if you want to do well. You are graded by two homework assignments, and there is only one midterm, and a final. He also occasionally gives pop quizzes.
He is great at explaining concepts and moves the class at a good pace. Did learn a lot from the class, he did give extra credit for the midterm. Said there is a curve for the final, but I don't think there was one. Final was worth so much, very difficult, and was nothing like the review sheet he gave. The final really messed up many peoples grade.
If we all didn't bomb the final, I would have given him a 5. He is a sweet caring professor, if you really decide to put in the effort and introduce yourself to him. If you don't care, neither does he. The more you put in, the more you get. Pop quizzes save GPAs, he is the best professor for ECON 160. Don't bank on cheating, everyone failed.
He's a great guy. I highly recommend getting to know him, chatting after class/stopping by office hours, that's the best way to communicate. maybe a little inaccessible otherwise. He's very respected, intelligent, well versed and well spoken. He'll present the material, and the rest is up to you. Funny. The final was brutal, but not impossible.
He is a cold and uncaring professor. the material itself is not difficult however he makes the tests relatively lengthy with the amount of time given and his lectures are nothing short of worthless. I ended up retaking the class for a better letter grade over the summer and he scheduled the two hour midterm on fathers day, a Sunday. Avoid!!!!
Unacessesible out of class. Failed to provide practice material similar to tests. For my class the tests were online in person. Cheating galore until a lock browser software was implemented. He gave us major curves cause everyone did so badly. Before curve, a 4.0 student got an 83 as highest grade. I have little respect for this teacher. Unhelpful
It was a great online class. Video lectures were very helpful.
Great online course. Lecture videos were very helpful.
Does not adequately prepare students for higher level economics, and has no regard for ethics
tests are way too hard for the level of teaching on display
the only thing I can say is if there is another option, do that. you will learn nothing taking this class with sharma
Sharma is a great professor. He teaches the course very well. To get good grades you will have to work hard.
Dr. Sharma is exceptionally skilled and knowledgeable, consistently delivering engaging lectures that leave students inspired and enlightened. His dedication to teaching is evident through his willingness to go the extra mile to ensure every student grasps complex concepts. His tests are difficult but he does curve sometimes.
There are a lot of mixed reviews about Sharma but personally I liked him. He is a very straight forward teacher which I appreciated. He also posts all the corresponding slides and resources which to me made all the difference. I would take him again.
Dr. Sharma is knowledgeable about Microeconomics while his lectures are based on the textbook. There are pop quizzes worth 10%, 2 homework worth 20%, midterm 30%, and final 40%. If you struggle with econ, be sure to get a tutor or utilize your TA as the content gets harder. Sharma gave my class extra credit after the midterm while curving the exam.
He is a good professor and is clearly very knowledgable on all things economics. His lectures are very helpful, but sometimes can be boring. tests are online, but if you study problem sets and in class quizzes you'll do fine. Prepare to write a paper at the end of the semester. He is open to curving grades, and giving extra credit.
Very Nice guy. Talk to him and he will accommodate you. He may seem stern, but it it just his personality. Do the textbook readings, and ask questions and go to class. Practice questions and you are on your way to an A. Take Dr. Sharma, he is funny, smart, and a very respectful man!
Not a good teacher, hard to understand
Great at teaching but gives the hardest test questions known to man and not a lot of other assignments to balance things out
The professor is hard to understand, and the class is difficult without a good TA. Sharma is unreachable outside class. The exams are VERY difficult, without a curve I would have gotten a B-. Pop quizzes are very annoying, you learn something and then get a pop quiz on it. Makes it hard to do well for those who study what they learn after a lecture
Sharma is an exceptional professor.. His clarity in explaining concepts is outstanding. Can't wait to take his upper level classes.
Good lectures, he spoke with clarity, only bad thing was that his grading scale is not the most lenient.
Sharma rocks! He makes learning fun. I look forward to going to his classes.
Really easy econ course that consists of 7 papers, attendance and a midterm. Class is either watching a movie or discussing it. Maybe it was just my writing but the essay grading seems pretty random. TA said in the beginning he was "trying to control the average". I'd turn in a terrible paper and get an 87, then I'd try on another and get an 80.
Class is graded by 7 essays and a final worth 30% of your grade. He switched up the grading scale midway through the semester and told the TA's to "grade harder." Didn't seem to care when TA's then graded with the top score being a 90%. Seems like the class is not his priority, but content is pretty easy. Lots of reading, doesn't respond to emails.
Prof Sharma did a great job teaching this course. The movies in this course were very good and related to the articles that were assigned. The class will discuss the articles after the showing of a movie. The grading is based on 7 papers, class participation and the final exam. Overall, very enjoyable class.
He was okay. Honestly, I didn't go to a bunch of lectures because he posted them online right after, and it's easier for me to comprehend that way. He was very meh, a boring but effective lecturer. Very midterm and final heavy, so study well for them.
Sharma is an amazing teacher but micro is hard. Weekly homework graded on completion, two assignments graded on accuracy, weekly quizzes on Fridays based on lessons. DO THE QUESTION BANKS! The homework will help conceptually, but he takes all quiz, midterm, and final questions from the QBs. It'll seem like a lot of questions, but it's repetitive.
Sharma is a great lecturer. Learned a lot about micro econ from him, and he explains everything in clear and well-thought-out detail. The class, though, is difficult; about 70% of your entire grade is based on the midterm and final, and there aren't many grades in between. Quizzes and tests are very hard, sometimes because of wording and concepts.
ECON160 with Sharma wasn't too bad, the only thing I didn't like was how the midterm and final was based solely on the chapter's question banks. This doesn't sound too bad until you find out each chapter has on average 80ish pages of multiple choice, which means you'd need to study over 400+ pages for the midterm and final.
Very simple class. Just movies and papers, with a final exam. be sure to come to class, since he plays movies in the class. The grading was pretty lenient, nothing too crazy. Just be sure to read articles and participate. Sharma is super knowledgable with economics, so he will answer any questions!
In my opinion, Sharma is alright. His tests are rough, and there are weekly pop quizzes, but workload seems light compared to other ECON160 profs. Weekly problem set which is a completion grade and two HWs. I took this class PF though, so if you're not a good test taker and dont want a hit to your GPA, you might wanna take someone else.
Lectures were very informative if open to listen but can get boring. I needed to read the textbook to really understand some of the topics. Attendance is not mandatory but there will be pop quizzes every once in a while.
micro with Sharma is extremely hard, however, there are no other options, u must take it with him. he gives easy quizzes almost every 'day online but you're able to search up the questions, use your notes, or work with friends. tests are really heavy and hard, don't expect too much outta yourself unless you're already good at micro.
Sharma is an awesome professor. I was an undecided major, now due to his classes, I have declared Econ to be my major.
The best option for ECON160, took as a junior. In-class quizzes to ensure attendance, but everything (quizzes, two midterms, and final) is multiple choice. Wording on the questions can be tricky, it's easy to make 80% but nearly impossible to score 100%. Course can be curved to your benefit at the end, my 88 became an A.
told students to study for a lot of chapters for final but skipped and only focused on a few chapters. almost every class is like a pop quiz and topics are heavily dependent on lecture slides. yaps a lot but also cannot hear him most of the time. pop quizzes and problem sets are difficult af. most of the TAs are bad. and if u miss class ur cooked
Great professor for Econ 160. I really enjoyed taking the course.
Horrible description of final exam layout, said to study chapters 6, 7, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15. Expecting a normal test layout in which each is somewhat equally distributed. However, in his final exam, he gave us a few gimmes for every chapter except for 12 and 13, to which he stacked ~70% of the test to the advanced concepts of these chapters
Decent teacher but frustrating how he explained what to study (ch.6-15) for the final as if having general knowledge of each chapter would suffice, when really the final exam was 80% on Ch. 12 and 13, and had basically the same difficult graph question repeated 30x throughout the test, meaning that if you knew everything except for two ch. you fail
Dr Sharma is an excellent teacher. The exams were based on the question bank questions. You will need to practice those questions to do well in his course.
He says in order to do well on his exams you need to do his questions bank, but they can reach about 50-100 pages in length with 5 questions per page, which I feel is unreasonable. This class is hard, don't take him if you think this course will be a breeze. You will have to devote a lot of studying to do well, and you still might score average.
His teaching is excellent, and I learned a lot from the course. The coursework is demanding, but it's well worth the effort for the knowledge and skills gained. Make sure to go over the question banks.
Difficult class, do not take it if u don't have to. Studied days and nights only to do quite poorly.
This is class is very two sided. You will either love it or hate it. If you grind out the question banks you will get a good grade as he copies almost all of them to the exams. He did mention different chapters that were not on the final. Reading the textbook will clarify the material. Sharma is actually a really nice guy that gets a bad rap.
Just don't take him
The class was enjoyable as a I had an interest in economics, but you really have to put in the work. The pop quizzes are annoying and the tests are hard, but you have to spam the question bank questions until you get it. Also reading the textbook helps a lot. He's the best option so take it with him.
He isn't as bad as people say, you j need to focus in class and actually dont miss ANYTHING he says. stay locked in. he is a really great teacher and in my opinion he makes everything make sense, but clearly some people disagree. also you need to read the textbook and do the quesion bank to study. as long as you do that thoroughly, youll do fine
I studied hours for the final and did over 100 pages on the question banks. I studied for at least 80 hours for the final and I failed. I did okay the previous 2 exams but it doesn't help that the final is 40% of our average. He is a tough grader and homework, quizzes don't mean anything.
Great professor. Taught game theory in a very accessible manner. Half of every class was lecture and the remaining time was devoted to problem solving.
Great Prof. Quizzes were hard b/c I'm most tired at end of long lecture, but some use Google/friends. Homeworks were easy (2). Tests (3) were not difficult, but YOU NEED TO LOCK IN. Study a few Question Bank pages a day and you'll do fine (don't cram 10 hours into one day or study all 3k questions). Index card is allowed on exam. Hate studying=P/F
This class is extremely difficult. He moves fast in lectures and you have to be very focused or youll get lost. The pop quizzes are his form of attendance, and the few homework grades didn't help my average. Tests are hard, and he takes some questions from the question banks but each chapter has like 50+ pages of practice questions so it's a gamble
Sharma is the best professor I have ever had. I see quite a few students not liking his class. Here is an advice for them: you shouldn't be in a college. He provides every opportunity to do well in his course and teaches in the best possible manner. Passing his course is not difficult at all but getting a very high grade requires a lot of work.
Writes his own reviews. Not a good professor
This was a pretty straightforward course. Every class involved working on problems after he taught the material. Final exam was a little harder than the first two exams but was not comprehensive. I think he curved the grades a little bit.
Despite putting in a lot of effort, my grade didn't fully reflect the hard work I put in, even with the curve. I still appreciate the learning experience and found the material engaging.
Although Sharma is a great econ teacher, his exams are extremely hard. His work load is manageable but to get a decent grade, you will need to go through the question bank, which is voluminous to say the least. However, he makes up for the difficult exams by curving the final grade.
Professor Sharma is a great teacher. This is a pretty hard class tho.10% homework, 10% quizzes, 20% Test 1, 20% Test 2, 40% Final. The way to study for tests is to do the multiple choice questions, he repeats questions on test. I put in 15+ hours of studying for tests, and 25+ for final, so you need to work to do well. Big curve on final grade
Explains an otherwise potentially difficult subject in a clear, easy to grasp way. If you ask questions, you'll understand it. Can be a funny person. 80% of your grade is from exams, so make sure you review and practice all the concepts to ensure a good grade.
Sharma is one of those rare professors who can give informative lectures with no notes or slides. It's honestly impressive how he was able to provide complex and engaging presentations straight from his mind in every single class throughout the semester. The questions on the exams were mostly from the problems we would do in every class.
Good professor and good lectures - just make sure you don't sit in the back of the classroom because it gets hard to focus. Lots of studying, but he provides a lot of resources (textbook and practice questions) so his class is very fair.
Not a lot of work given outside of class, but if you want to succeed you need to consistently do the question banks he gives. The class is difficult but his lectures are great, and he curves the final grade. The exams are difficult but the questions are taken from the question bank so if you lock those in you're good.
I took the online course, so I missed out on the incredible lectures. Extremely harsh grader that demands a level of insight on all assignments and discussions that is hard to reach without really putting in time to research. To get a good grade in this class, you have to truly learn and understand the material, which is only bad if you have a job.
he's a nice guy but the content is impossible. u will do horribly on every exam. his office hours are 30 minutes 2x a week? like what. Don't take this to fulfill gen ed. If ur in SOM or econ, good luck. his TA's r so unhelpful.
Lectures are hard to follow and even if you went to all of them you still wouldn't know half the material. Doesn't write enough down on the board so its very easy to miss things. Says to do question banks every week to prepare for exams, but some are 50 - 100 pages and are impossible. (Also QB answer keys are often wrong.) Don't recommend.
really great and engaging lecturer. make sure to lock in though, not the easiest class.
If you truly want to take this class, especially if it part of your major, then I would recommend to find outside source like YouTube videos to understand the materials. He goes over each chapter for the lectures, but you either had to read the chapters or look over the lectures. EXAMS will be difficult if you don't study and practice.
Honestly, I did not think this course would be super difficult. However, he only had one midterm (30%) and a final (40%). The final was extremely difficult. He gives question banks as test review which isn't enough, especially because the test bank is much easier than the questions on the exam. Reviews were conceptual questions and test was not.
Professor Sharma is extremely knowledgeable. Hard class if you don't understand the material -- you have to put in time outside class to succeed. Not impossible to get a decent grade and curves well.
Class can be difficult if you don't pay attention and study outside of class. Discussion was useless, problem sets do not prepare you for exams, nor explain the material (my TA did the work for us). Midterm was 30% and final was 40%. Question banks were helpful, not completely. Watch YouTube videos on the topics, cover a 1-hour lecture in 10 min
Sharma was very difficult. I am not a math major, so I struggled a lot in this class. I ended up doing great overall, but it was a lot of work to get to that point. My TA was not helpful, and I rarely retained anything from lecture; the homework was also useless. The only reason I did so well was because of UTS. I would not recommend taking him.
Very knowledgeable professor, gives his lectures without even a slide deck. Last semester we only had two exams, which were worth a total of 70% of the class. His question bank is helpful, but extensive, and has some wrong answers in it, which were frustrating. Take advantage of the free tutoring opportunity.
Honestly a great teacher. Very knowledgeable and explains course material very well. Grades are totally reliant on exams, but he offered a very generous curve at the end. I found 160 microeconomics much easier than 162 Macroeconomics, in large part because of the professor.
You can tell he is very knowledgeable about the subject. Also a very good teacher. Gave thorough and easily understandable explanations of otherwise complicated topics. He writes on the whiteboard while he talks, instead of clicking through a powerpoint, so class is way more engaging and easy to keep focus. Take the class with him if you can
He is very knowledgeable, and the class is easy if you put in the effort. He provides optional "question bank" questions for each chapter that are identical to the tests; however, they are very long. If you practice them, you'll do well. Quizzes are given randomly for attendance, but you can use notes. Discussions are useless and no help.
Very difficult, don't slack off and be sure to do the work as the year progresses. The final is really hard, so make sure you score well on the other grades.
he is a pretty good lecturer and knows what hes talking about. he has 2 exams and 1 final and pop quizzes as attendance but if you know someone in class it should be chill. all his exams are right off the question banks so if you study them you should be good.
Just listen to the lectures and you will learn the material and get an A in the class.
Sharma is an amazing lecturer who gives his lectures without a slide deck. He is very knowledgeable and gives thorough and understandable examples in-class. There will be pop quizzes, but you can use your notes (open book). Make sure to do the question banks for each chapter, they really help as he pulls most questions on the exams from there.
Professor Sharma gives great lectures and makes the content understandable. There were pop quizzes, usually once a week or when we finished a textbook chapter, but they are open notes. There were also 2 exams and a final. Make sure to do the question banks as they were very similar if not identical to the tests. He also offered a generous curve.
Sharma was a great prof, though the class was not very interesting to me he seemed very knowledgeable about the content, and is funny and kind. Lectures were a bit of a drag for me but attend anyway because there are pop quizzes for attendance (just by being there you get half credit) that have a password. DO THE QUESTION BANKS BEFORE EXAMS
Had 2 hws (worth 10% ) and pop quizzes (also worth 10%). Had two exams (each worth 20%) and then our final was worth 40%. Went to all lectures & found those to be 0 help, had to resort to teaching myself by doing the question banks & study mode on chatgpt to salvage my grade. If you're not a good test taker, you're basically cooked in this class.
Sharma teaches well and makes hard concepts easy. You are mostly graded by two exams (20% each) and a final exam (40%). However, he offered a very generous curve at the end. You're given practice problems which show up on exams but are at least 50 pages per chapter. TA discussions are unhelpful. He's funny sometimes, mostly blunt.
