This teacher is wonderful! I highly reccomend his class. He explains everything extremely clear and thourough, and never has a problem helping you with any questions you have (extremely patient). He is also funny, so the class goes by with both you learning a lot, and without feeling like you are going to fall asleep. He gets an A in my book!

I was so afraid of taking this class because I had just finished my ESL classes, but he was so patient and he made me feel comfortable with the class. He is so helpful. He chooses really interesting movies, and the book was really good.In one word, he is perfect.

Most of the time was spent talking about current events which was at times helpful, at others notsomuch. If you're anti-politics, you're going to get frustrated. (Now he knows who I am. haha) His grading is fair; if you get the overall idea and execution, he'll let a few mistakes slide. He procrastinates on grading though! His passion=isnt teaching

Mr. Amarnath is one of the best professors I have ever had… he actually makes the class fun!!! He introduces interesting videos and topics which make the class worth while. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS CLASS!!! Take it and you fly right through the class with an A!!

Mr. Ravva is awesome. He's really intelligent and easy to talk to. He's very inclusive with his students and if you make at least some kind of an effort you'll pass easy.. I highly suggest taking him if you want a good grade and a nice easy teacher. Anyone who says he doesn't know how to lecture is an idiot. He's rad.

When I first took his class I thought it was the most boring clas ever..I thought I wouldn't survive the class...I was getting bad grades but later on in the semester I started doing my work and did all the readings and I loved the class. I got an A!

HIS VERY...EASY!, however, I would not recommend him to people that want to work hard for a grade. Ravva expects u to know grammer, MLA and all of the he does review MLA the first day but thats it.

I don't know what people are talking about, but Ravva is/was one of the best most helpful teachers I've ever had. He gives you every opportunity to get an A, and anyone that didn't is an idiot. I'm not saying its a walk through a park, but if you just put in some effort, you will get an A. He also teaches you about a lot of other great things.

Amar is awesome! He is very nice and is always willing to help his students. Very easy to talk to...yes sometimes things get a little off topic during class but who cares?? we all love wasting some time in class :) The books we read were pretty interesting because you get to see what's going on in the rest of the world. Awesome teacher! I took both English 101 And 104 with him, and got good grades. Makes his classes interesting and fun to attend.Essay and assignments are easy,plus he is very helpful when it comes to questions. Anyways if you want a good grade in English 101 or 104 just take him you wont regret.

Amar is honestly a great teacher. I took him for winter and he was pretty cool. You just need to do you work on time and post it on turnitin. Preety much thats it. Chillest teacher ever! I had him for English 101 and I'm taking him again for English 104. All we did was read a couple of books, white some essays on those books, and take a few quizes. No classwork, no attendence, and he gives extra credit. If you want an easy A or B take him. Best teacher ever!!!

At first he will look random to you, but when he opens up he is a great person. The class in general is very laid back, as long as you do your work, you will be fine. Take him if you want an easy A or B. I am going to take his ENG104 class for sure!

He is the best English teacher at GCC and everyone who is taking English 104 should take him without thinking. Who siad he doesn't teach I learned how to write better essays because of him. He took time to read the essays and tell us how to improve it, which helped me out alot. He also allows you to rewrite some essays.

Awesome guy. If you show up to class and take good notes, you will get an A on all the quizzes. He only puts the questions you on what was covered in the class. Sometimes he goes off on random topics in class, which makes it fun and interesting. Ask him about his wilderness adventures.

Prof Ravva is a good professor. I took him during a summer session. His class required a few papers on the readings, a research paper, and a final exam. The readings were a little difficult. Just do all your work and put some effort into it and you should get a good grade. He is a fair grader. He is a very chill guy with interesting points of view.

Professor Ravva is definitely the coolest and easiest to connect to Prof. on campus! He's a laid back guy and every time I see him I just think: "Indian Jesus English Professor...Awesome". He doesn't teach so much, so if you're unclear on something you'll need to speak up, he is very helpful though. Class is mainly discussion so participate!

If you love politics and arguments then this is the class for you. If you want to learn gramer etc... then what the hell are you doing in 104? you should be in 120. IMHO this was the most intresting class I have had so far.

This was one of my favorite classes of college so far. I looked forward to every single class. He is really smart, hilarious and laid back. But, I have to say that the work isn't always easy. You have to put in effort to earn your grade. It is easier than other English classes though. Highly recommend this class. It was so much fun!!!!

You might mistake him for a student or a TA. Overall he is an awesome English prof. If you are into politics (which im not) that involve middle east relations, take him. His workload is average. only 2 inexpensive books. His essays saved us papers thanks to turnitin.com

By far, one of my favorite classes. Took him for Winter '10 and did not regret it. Very chill, very open, very funny, and a great writer. Just participate in discussions and it will teach you another thing or two. I still tell his funny stories to my friends till this day.

Honestly, all the bad ratings are retarded. It's very hard to fail. Just show up in class, you don't even have to take notes. You turn in his essays on turn it in, so the instructions are there as you write the paper. He gives 4-5 essays the whole semester, where as other teachers give 8-10 essays. The essays are also beyond easy. He Gives EC too.

Ravva is a very chill and cool teacher, he is also very liberal and open minded about things. He studied at Cal Arts so he has that artsy/hippie personality. Just do your essays, read the books/essays and you will get an A.

Professor Ravva is super understanding and helpful. I had health problems that really impaired my ability to come to class, and eventually caused me to basically miss the final. Prof Ravva really worked with me to make sure I got through the class, even letting me take an I and do the final once I recovered from my illness. He's rad.

Professor and I disagree on POETRY, POLITICS, LITERATURE, RELIGION, and we argued over every piece assigned. Yet I can say with certainty that all the negative reviews about him are wrong. He went out of his way to help and explain everything. Newsflash: he’s not responsible for your education. You are. If ENG101 is too hard, stay home.

This class is for critical thinkers. His method of Teaching is self help which is beneficial.

LOVED HIS CLASS! he knows a lot I learned more than writing essays in his class and we read the most interesting books! You have to really work hard for an A and always participate in class.

There are two special things about him: This guy's mind is a way ahead of time (very smart) The essays he assigns are very challenging, not hard, but very :) challenging They required a thinking, not about grade, but about thinking philosophically.

I've had him for two classes and I loved him both times. He's a creative, "outside the box" type of teacher, and published writer who "walks the walk". He's not a by the book, paint my numbers, type teacher. If you genuinely desire to write, you will enjoy this class. If you just want to follow directions and get English credit, maybe not.

Just-do-the-reading. ALL you have to do is show up and DO the reading. By creating a laid back, open, unbiased environment he allows you to give your own ideas and opinions on the material. By the time the 3 OPEN BOOK in class essays come around, having read the material & completed the study guide will make this class an EASY PASS!!

Professor Ravva is very laid-back. His lectures consist of mostly current news, and then he will talk about reading assignment or essay. Do your essays and you will pass the class. If you're an independent type of student then this class is for you. He doesn't give a lot of instructions or rules when writing essays, unlike other strict professors.

I really enjoyed Prof. Ravva. English is not my strong suit, but it was not as hard as I perceived it to be. He's very easygoing and there's a lot of wiggle room when writing your papers. Unfortunately, grades are only based on essays, so if you're not a great writer I do not advise taking him. He never quizzed on any of the readings either.

A lot of people here have said that his current event lectures are off topic, but they're really not. Amar is awesome. Be prepared to participate in discussions and be refuted no matter your stance. The point of the class is to learn how to construct a great argument. The books are tough, but are really great reads if you put in the effort.

Great Professor! Assignments are simple to do as long as you read the material. Lectures are not mandatory but showing up will make it easier to understand his assignments. IF YOU'RE LOOKING FOR AN AWESOME PROFESSOR YOU FOUND HIM.

Hard grader, but fun lectures. Very political; I agreed with his views, but if you don't this probably isn't the class for you. Not a traditional English class, we spent most of our class time talking about current events and looking at interesting - if not entirely relevant - stuff online. Be sure to REALLY support arguments in essays!

This class is not for people that don't care about social issues(those people are lame). He's very knowledgeable when it comes to politics and social issues. Prof Amar is very smart and is a good talker but I think he can be a little bit narrow minded but thats all people i guess.

The man is the king of inspiration. He makes you think for yourself. If you are looking for a robotic or generic class where you learn the true meaning of mediocrity. THEN YOU ARE IN THE WRONG CLASS. The class type is humanities it is meant to half depth. You are suppose to attempt to become enlightened. It's a great class.

i took his english 101 class and he allowed a lot of opportunities for extra credit, and was really lenient about not having certain books, also he allowed us to rewrite our final!! i got an a in his class, the whole time the class felt really laid back and easy going!

Great person, and hilarious. His class does require alot of reading however, as we read several myths, and had essays that involved them. A very essay heavy class but it is totally do-able. As for his actual class, it was literally him discussing random topics with some students, while everyone just works or whatever.

Professor Ravva is one of the best english professors at GCC. He is such a kind soul and understands peoples difficulties. He gives really good feedback on assignments, and sure he gives a lot of readings but they only make the midterm and final and honestly the whole class easier. Easy A if you actually put in work.

This class was overall pretty simple! To be completely fair, Professor Ravva was going through personal issues during this semester so he admittedly was distant. Most of the lectures wouldn't stay on topic which over the course of the semester was evidently impacting the student's self-motivation in reading. Very few assignments! Easy A overall.

At first glance, the class seems somewhat chaotic. I took it in Summer 2020, so it was more fast paced. HW is mainly discussions (usually watch or read stuff & write about it). The rest of your grade depends on the 3 essays (he gives essays rather than tests). Put effort into these + the HW & you can get an A. Make sure you understand the myths.

I took this over a short summer semester, so I was super overwhelmed by all the work that was laid out in front of me, but I'm so glad I kept the course and stuck with it. Most of the discussions are based off of movies/videos we watched and the myths we read in class. Make sure to understand the themes of the assigned myths, they're in the essays.

I loved Professor Ravva's American Lit class. He's an intellectual, and inspires students to work at a high level. An online class, the professor didn't really lecture. He presented material, gave us context and let us converse. Lots of interesting reading, midterm, final and term paper. I worked my butt off and got an A. I could have slacked more.

The course material is standard. I definitely recommend listening to audiobooks of any stories in which language is challenging to decipher. Make sure to get started on the term paper as soon as ur aware of the direction u want to take. Feel free to ask whatever questions, if help is necessary. Professor Ravva is understanding and is there to help.
