This professor knows exactly what she speaks about in lecture. She was a lobbyist for several years and has actual experience in politics. Her lectures are fun and interesting, not to mention absolutely necessary to attend if you're looking to earn in A. You're sure to ace exams if you do the study guides!! Show up to discussion too...
Dr. D was phenomenal! Her tests are straight forward and the lectures were never boring. She is down to earth and absolutely hilarious. She doesn't deal with bs so be real and honest with her and you'll get the same in return.
Wonderful! One of my favorite professors at OSU. Very upbeat and makes a boring subject more fun. Tests aren't hard because she gives out a study guide that is super helpful.
Yo, this lady is good at what she does. She presents information in a non bias way that would make it almost impossible to figure out what her own beliefs are. I think that makes her brilliant. She puts a huge emphasis on the interesting and funny parts of government that make me excited to come to class everyday, and not too challenging!
Hilarious professor who is passionate about her subject and will make learning interesting and occasionally funny.
She was energetic and made her lectures fun and interesting. She is very knowledgable of what she knows and has experience first hand with what she is teaching. Her tests are pretty close to the study guide so if you do the study guide and pay attention to her lectures, you'll be fine! I would for sure take a class with her again!
Definitely knows her stuff and is a very interactive teacher. At the beginning of the course she states that she wont influence your political decision at all; thats a load of crap. While she constantly attempts to avoid directly influencing you, she throws many subtle cues out there that slightly sway one's decision. Nevertheless she is Great!
She was pretty great.
You have to study for tests to pass. You have to go to discussion on Friday or you will not pass.
She's really cool and laid back. She shows a lot of videos and responds to emails fast. The class was interesting and doesn't have much homework either.
I loved this teacher!! She is a phenomenal teacher and gives the best lectures ever! I truly feel like my political knowledge has increased dramatically after taking her class! Her lectures aren't mandatory attendance, but I recommend going anyways b/c they're super fun and interesting! Her discussion sections do have mandatory attendance though.
She is an awesome professor. I never liked or cared about political science until I took her class. She is hilarious and made what I used to think was a boring class, one of my favorites! Lectures are not mandatory but definitely recommended; the way she teaches helped me stay engaged in the material and I learned a lot.
She was a very good professor. She stayed unbiased the entire class and you could tell she had a passion for teaching about the United States government. This was not a hard course as long as you showed up to lectures and studies what was on the study guides for tests.
This was one of my favorite classes to take! Although the subject is boring, this teacher makes it interesting and easy to tolerate. I wouldn't say that it is an easy A because you have to study to do good on the tests but they are all multiple choice and discussed in lecture. class isnt mandatory but you should go especially to your ta sessions.
I highly recommend taking her class.
Very good lecturer with easy tests. If you show up and pay attention, there shouldn't be a problem getting a good grade.
She is awesome! She is SUPER passionate about government which makes her a total joy to have in class. She knows her stuff and persuades students to get interested in it. She is a great teacher, I really learned a lot in her class. She also has a sense of humor! Attendance isn't mandatory but you should go to do well on the tests.
Tests can be sneaky in the beginning, but overall, its not too hard.
I took her Government class online, and she did such a great job. Even though I never met her or actually had her in class, I could sense her passion for politics and that she cares about her students and wants them to succeed.
She was an amazing teacher! She made the lectures pretty entertaining and I learned a lot! I loved her class and as long as you make most of the lectures and read the lecture notes there should be no problem passing the class! Show up to her in class labs on Fridays. Those are easy points!
She's the best! She makes lectures entertaining and tells lots of great stories! She's passionate about the subject and knows what she's talking about.
she is a good professor.
really fun to listen to
Great teacher!!
Dr. D has a lot of passion for American Government and will make sure people are paying attention to her lecture. If you are caught talking or not taking notes on your laptop she will call you out. She expects students to come to learn.
Tough her exams are the most stupid thing you will take. her questions are so similar and answers are even worse. Basically its A hockey B soccer C football and D Trump sucks. Avoid her if you can as she won't help increase your grade.
I literally went to only 3 lectures. As long as you do to review you are fine. The review is about 2/3 lecture notes and 1/3 textbook notes. I teamed up with a friend who went to class on each review, so I did the textbook part and she did the lecture part. If you don't have someone who is willing to team up however, I would go to class.
Stay away at all costs. If you do not attend one lecture, you won't get it. Lectures aren't technically mandatory, but if you don't go you won't do good on the test. The tests are awful, and extremely hard. I've taken American Government before (credits didn't transfer), and got an A, but with her class I failed.
She's super strict but gives interesting lectures. She got mad at a few students for talking during class almost every week. The grade was almost completely dependent on tests. I skipped most of the classes after midterms and still got an A.
I probably attended seven of her lectures out of the whole semester but I still made a B on the final. GO TO THE DISCUSSION CLASSES. She uploads all of her lectures online and there are very few blanks to fill because of it.
She was always super entertaining in her lectures. The lecture slides are always posted online but it really helps to print out the power point and take notes on it during lecture. She gives out test reviews before every test and only test on that material.
Show up to the discussion section and take notes during lecture and you will ace this class. She is so fun and makes government, of all things, interesting. Tests are straight from study guides she provides. Youll need the textbook to fill out the study guides but thats it.
The lectures were amazing the beginning of the year, but after a while she would just read off her own powerpoints and made the lectures annoying to attend. I attended all my discussion classes and came out with a B which was great.
Great professor!! Fun lectures and she tells lots of stories -- she was a former campaign manager and was also a lobbyist. She definitely knows what she is talking about!
She has a background in politics so she definitely knows what she is talking about, the lectures aren't mandatory and she pretty much just reads from the PowerPoints which she puts online so you could just go over them although sometimes she goes over something that's not on the PowerPoint, the discussion session is the key to passing this class.
She's is pretty chill, she has TAs do all the grading, so that depends on what TA you're assigned to. Her tests are a medium difficulty as long as you actually go to the lectures and study beforehand.
This class was my favorite this semester! Her lectures are very interesting and she relates everything you learn to not only modern times, but how things effect you. Throughout the semester in this class I have taken good notes and gone to my TA's office hours before a test to review and I have gotten an A or B on every test. 10/10 Would recommend
She is a great professor. She is always prepared for class with awesome lectures that are actually interesting. I found out early in the semester that I did not need to go to class (except TA sessions on Fridays) because her tests come straight from the study guide she puts out a week before the test.
I liked her as a teacher and she had very intresting lectures, but as government being one of my weak spots, I was not able to succeed in the class. Her class is only based on four tests so if you do not do good on tests it is hard to make an A. She does not offer hardly any extra credit and will not bump grades up under any circumstances.
Her class was very enjoyable considering her enthusiasm to teach and her way of connecting with students in our generation. The class focuses on our interests and issues in the American Government. She may seem harsh but I think she does it for laughs. You don't need to attend every lecture, but as long as you do the test reviews you'll be fine.
I'm sorry but this class is hard not to get an A in. She literally posts the reviews that are EXACTLY like the tests. The people on here saying she's difficult clearly didn't put in the effort because the reviews come straight from her slides and the text books. Very energetic lecture but it won't hurt you not going to class.
She is a really good teacher and her lectures are always entertaining, never boring. She posts the study guide for each test on D2L and it is exactly like the test so it's almost impossible to fail a test if you review it.
Every assignment is important because tests and homework are worth the same. GO TO THE FRIDAY CLASSES, they will break your grade if you do not. Amazing professor, knows her information and is passionate about it. Only need the book to fill out the study guides for tests. (fill out the study guides, everything listed is on the test)
Absolutely take her class if you get the chance. She seems a bit strict a first, but she is truly such a warm person who sometimes employs a "no-nonsense" take on things. Be sure to go to the Friday discussion sections and ALWAYS fill out and refer to the study guides she posts for the tests--they are literally verbatim the tests.
Great professor she really knows what she is talking about. Lectures are interesting and very informative. Should be an easy A as long as you put in a little bit of effort.
The only professor I've ever had that I actually look forward to their lectures. She keeps them entertaining and doesn't veer off topic. She is very straight to the point and prepares you for the exam, as long as you go to the lectures. My TA was awesome and was knowledgable of the class. Overall, great class.
Took her summer class at WU. For a political class, she didn't share her views---which is great. Great communication, flexible, very organized. Could improve on the speed of grading assignments and providing correct answers for what was missed on tests. Overall, highly recommend this professor.
Not too many assignments and she isn't a really tough grader.
I took this class online while in high school. I was hoping I would enjoy it because I'm a big history and government fan. I was pretty disappointed in not only the class but also the professor. I found the work very unrewarding and boring. Know that this professor is not willing to work with you very much, even if you put your all into the class.
Will not work with you at all. Serious lack of empathy.
