Cool course. you get a chance to learn how to argue in the class. She has a good method of teaching the material in a fun way. You just have to make sure you do all your work and show up for you debates and your cool.

This is a fun course. The only thing u have to do is stay on top your speeches and class work. She is very reasonable in grading. Try your best and you will succeed.

Good course. you learn how 2 argue in class and how to think critcally. I am having a great time learning debate and I think so are other students. We create these teams and compete against one another. Even though it is a competition, everyone is learning

Wonderful teacher.Energetic and thorough but fair.Crystal clear on her teaching method and empathetic to your feelings about public speaking. Tries to make the classroom atmosphere comfortable.I highly recommend her for this class. She's also very easy on the eyes (she's cute guys!!!)

Mrs. Gill is right on for par if you have to take a Public Speaking Class She is your Girl she is very good instructor just stick to her courses outline and try to stay ahead of the game you'll GET AN "A"!

Gill is cool. Just make sure you show up fo your debates. She is pretty strict when it comes to make ups! Do your thang and try, she will see the effort

Great Teacher. Very informative and easy to follow. I had her for COM20 Public Speaking and COM40 Argumentation. A lot of the stuff overlaps. I'd say Argumentation is more challenging, but I highly recommend it. Grades pretty fairly. You get the grade for the effort you put into your speeches, which are not all that hard. Overall, Great Teacher.

SHE IS THE BEST TEACHER I EVER HAD AT EVC! SHE UNDERSTANDS THE STUDENTS PERSPECTIVIES. I HATE PUBLIC SPEAKING AND HAVE TROUBLE TALKING IN FRONT OF THE CLASS, BUT MS. GILL GOES EASY ON YOU. HER PURPOSE IS TO HELP STUDENTS GAIN MORE CONFIDENCE DOING SPEECHES. I LOVE MS. GILL! TAKE HER FOR COMM20! =]

I highly reccomend Mrs. Gill. She is understanding and as a debate teacher does an amazing job of remaining impartial and unbias during discussions, which encourages us to think for ourselves..her grading is fair if you don't mind working hard and she does a great job of clarifying exactly what will be on tests so you can study what you what u need

Gill is awesome! No homework and a couple of exams, but debates are the most important part! Your going to get matched up with random people which is no always good, but as along as your tryna d listen to what she says you'll be fine. Attendance isn't important, but you should ALWAYS be there for your debate!

Ms. Gill is an awesome teacher. Today was our last day and just had to give her a good rating on here. She is incredibly nice and very helpful! She grades pretty easily, you just have 3 simple debates and thats about it, occasionally homework, but very simple, 5 minute job. Overall, she's an awesome teacher! Ms. Gillian (LOL) Take her!

She motivates her students.She understands that many students have a fear of public speaking, so she is always there to help you. She is very organized in her teaching skills. Awesome and fun teacher! Really entertaining and the class was very engaged. The speeches are basically the only big things graded, and I got by without even knowing we needed a book just fine. Make sure you show up for the speech dates!

I love her class!! At first I was nervous about speaking in front of class, but after my first speech I got really comfortable. Now I love speaking in front of class. She gives out three different kinds of speeches. EASY as long as you are very informed on your topic and its well put together

She is pretty good. Can be firm at times. Bottom line You need to attend class; be on time and participate. NO make up debates period. sucks!

Nice teacher. I took the Friday three hour class which was cool. There is a few debate in this class. Book should be read for test. Clear in her lectures.

Great professor. 3 debates basically make up for most of your grade. Class is very engaged and fun to attend. I definitely recommend her if you need to take any Coms classes.

The class consisted of 3 speeches, two tests, one final. The speeches are worth the most. Ms Gill is very approachable and willing to proof-read your outline/speech. Most students including me were very nervous during our speeches, but the grade didn't seem to impact our grade. As much as I dreaded giving speeches, I will taking her again fo Comm40

Very short summer course (14 days). 3 written assignments, 1 midterm, 1 final and two speeches (1 was a debate). I did one mock debate for extra credit. The class was engaging so the time went by quickly. We watch 3 movies which were the written assignments. Knocked out a 3 unit class in 14 days - Ms. Gill is easygoing so I felt no pressure at all

EXTREMELY FUN CLASS AND EASY :)

Took the class in the summer and it was 3 weeks long. Course covers about 11 chapters. There were 2 exams, which were not hard if you review your notes from her power points. The were 3 projects. A presentation about yourself, a group presentation, a two part paper about a relationship. It was not that bad at all. If you follow her format, easy A.

Prof. Gill is much easier than I expected. Very organized when cover all 12 chapters, several projects, and exams in just 14 days during intersession. Take note all her power point, listen to her lecture, complete all projects and easy get an A. No need to buy textbook. Great professor at EVC.

She's a wise woman, I like her class. I only got a C but it's my problem, I didn't take note in her lecture and there are vocabularies I'm not familiar with (English is not my first language)

Super easy to understand. Went through most of the info in class, reading the book helped a little bit if you didn't listen in class. Very clear on what's expected. Likes to laugh. Easy A if you follow directions. Some test questions are close, so know definitions!

Professor Gill is an amazing teacher! She is very charismatic and she's the type of person you can listen to talk all day. The class can be a bit nerve-racking so make sure to be on your toes. My only regret is taking the class during intersession so it was very short. Had a lot of fun and I feel more confident in public speaking and argumentation.

LOVED THIS CLASS. I dreaded the first day because she mentioned that if public speaking was something you avoided, don't take this class. Honestly, it was so fun. By the end of the semester, you'll come to find out that most of the students in the class are just as nervous as you are. No textbook required which was awesome! def recommend!

i took her for comms 20 and passed the class with an A, at first being nervous, she assured the time would speed by! I am now taking her for comms 40 because i enjoyed her class so much. I have recommended all of my friends to take her. No text book required. Her midterm is tough but she lets you know exactly what is expected

Amazing professor. My number one favorite professor at evergreen. She's very nice and informative. She really helps her students. She give a lot of chances to students when they have to present in front of eveyone in class. You learn a lot from her lectures. I highly reccomend professor Gill.

BEST PROFESSOR AT EVC PERIOD !

I took her class this past summer. It was a hybrid class so we only had to show up 3 times out of the 6 weeks. Not too shabby right? Did 3 speeches and a few quizzes online. Got an A. Sweet! Also I hate making speeches in front of people, but after taking the class, I realized it's not that bad. Def more comfy with public speaking now!!!

She's one of the most wonderful professors that I've met. Her class is extremely comfortable and fun. Only 3 speeches per semester and have a lot of time to prepare. Overall, I highly recommend to take her class.

Great class and I learned a lot but I worked so hard preparing for my speeches. She gives clear grading criteria and does a review of what she will be testing on the final but you still have to go home and study a lot. She responds to email and is very to the point and an awesome person. 3 speeches: 2 solo and 1 with a partner

I took this class mainly because people say it's fun. Wasn't disappointed. I had a great time in this class yet the time went by quickly. Hope itd last longer. Never take it in intersections guys. The class helped me know more about myself and my coms skills. It's pretty chill and ms. Gill grades fairly too. Highly recommended

There are three presentations in all, and honestly you don't even need to show up unless you are presenting, but you should since it can be fun! Professor Gill gives very good feedback, but not in a mean way. Just remember to practice your speech and know your material! Always check emails before class as she sometimes cancels last min! Easy A!

Professor Gill is an awesome professor. Her class is mainly about debating and public speaking so if you are not up for public speaking (2 debates & 1 presentation) I don't recommend you taking this class. But overall, very easy final and very easy class! I didn't touch or open the textbook at all this semester, so you really don't need to buy it.

This instructor is really good. I would not say she is easy, she just makes things so easy to understand that you would have to be an idiot to fail. Anyway, I really enjoyed the class. Treats students like we are actually adults not kids.

I took the hybrid argumentation class. Hw and lectures are all done online and we only meet during presentations. Shes very understanding if you are just a beginner speaker. She honestly cares for all her students and wants the best for them. One of the greatest teachers EVC has to offer.

My cousin recommended this professor to me and another person recommended I take the summer class. I did both & dont regret it! Shes easy going, only 3 speeches compared to the millions youd do during a full semester. Workload is not heavy at all & super easy assignments. Would 1,000% recommend for anyone who hates public speaking like me.

I took her hybrid summer class. The class consisted of 3 speeches, an introduction speech, persuasive, and informative. The speeches were no more than 3 minutes each and pretty easy to do. The assignments on canvas were just discussions and responses to videos. Make sure to practice your speeches. Super easy class and it completes a GE. TAKE HER.

Ambica is really laid back, nice, and helpful. I took a hybrid class which is an online class, but you meet once a month throughout the semester (4 total). Theres 3 speeches a personal speech, an informative speech + PowerPoint, & persuasive speech + PowerPoint. No tests nor hw besides get ready for what youre going to represent on speech day.

Took the hybrid class. Professor Gill was a great teacher. She made the class relaxed. especially if its your first time speaking. Take the class!! It is an easy A.

Professor Gil is by far one of the best oral Communications teacher's by far at EVC. I took her for Intercession hybrid class and I can say the work and the speeches are very easy. 3 speeches introduction speech, Informative speech, and Persuasive Speech (Shark Tank) and she gives you time to do it all of the homework assignments.

She is so awesome!!! I really do believe that if you do what she wants, and she is very straight up about it too, you will pass!!! She is very clear and understanding in many ways possible! I took her for my fall semester hybrid class and it was a breeze. She wouldnt pressure you or anything but rather she would encourage you to speak more!!

I took her summer class. She's very reasonable and you just have to put in an appropriate amount of effort and you'll get an A. I did not stress out about this class at all.

Took Comm 20 & 40 from her for summer. Participation mandatory (obviously for a speech class). Summer term so material is more condensed (3 speeches each with different formats as well as weekly online readings and discussion boards/assignments). Awesome prof. Caring and wants to know her students. Also encourages sharing, participating, & talking.

Took her for both Comm 20 & 40 via hybrid classes. Definitely the best classes I could have taken at EVC. Unlike other professors who dock off points if you stutter/show signs of nervousness, Professor Gill is understanding to those who are nervous about public speaking. If you can get into her class, I definitely recommend her!

Prof Gill is not a tough grader as long as you follow the rubric. We did 3 speeches Intro, informative, and shark tank/ persuasive (make your own product and persuade the audience to buy). She also did not assign a lot of homework. This is a hybrid class so you only meet once every other week if you're taking it in the summer.

Easy class but didn't learn much to be honest. Do the work and do well on your speech and you'll pass with an A.

Very easy class and easy grader. All the small homework can be done in one day including discussions. The bigger assignments were speeches including a narrative, informative, and shark tank. Due to COVID, we had to record ourselves and the speeches had to be about two minutes long. The last assignment is a course reflection of what we learned.

I took her hybrid class and she was amazing! Her rubric was clear and she grades very easily too! You must present in order to pass her class. There wasnt a lot of homework, the tests were the presentations. Her projects were pretty interesting too and I learned a lot on how to present.

Prof. Gill is fair. She gives reasonable amount of work and really care about her students. Do the work and you will be fine. She gives you the benefit of the doubt that not everyone wants to be a public speaker, but you have to put forth effort in becoming a better communicator in general.

I took oral coms in the summer. About four assignments are given each week and are due each Sunday. We had to do 2 speeches, one the first week and the other the last week. Outlines are needed for speeches, discussion questions are given, and a few other mini assignments. No zoom meetings, it was asynchronous. Very smooth course and easy to pass!

I took this class in the summer so it is consolidated. Discussions and peer responses are posted and due at the end of the week (Sunday). The speeches were based on great topics, so they were easy to talk about. An essay is assigned for the final. Such a great class, especially if you want an opportunity to give your honest perspective on topics.

Great Professor-- totally simplifies materials so it is easy to learn and pass. Make sure you do everything. i had a friend who skipped assignmnets and failed. I did everything and pretty good on speech but got a B

Fun class to practice speeches in, but it was not the same without having an audience. The professor did her best with the pandemic and gave good feedback after reviewing my speech. Take her. Long waitlist. You will be lucky if you even get in the class

Prof Gill is a good prof, was pretty easy! The assignments are all easy but there are 3 major vid debates and 1 final paper. It was an overall easy class but her grading isnt really that clear. She does have a good comprehensive rubric & extra material in the mods but doesnt give feedback on your vid on how to improve. Take it its a good class!!

Fine choice. Bit of a tough grader at times. Got the full points for writing assignments that were considered hard but I got point deductions for some easier assignments?

The class, at least for me, was incredibly easy. Her homework was light and straightforward, and it was easy to finish nearly a week's worth of work in one day. I was kind of shocked at how undemanding the class was; we had two speeches, two essays, and that was kind of it. Most of the assignments were opinion discussions or other easy tasks.

Prof. Ambica is a great professor. Her explanation is very clear and easy to understand. She is always devoted to her students. Her lecture is very clear.

Pretty easy class. Was nervous at first with it being a communications class, but it really isn't hard at all. Class revolved around 3 5-minute speeches the whole semester. Gill provides lots of feedback and is easy on grading; however, I've noticed her feedback seems to be similar for a lot of students. Just participate, you'll pass!

I love her sooo much. She always make sure to give out the most comprehensive feedbacks possible. Moreover, she does a great job in boosting her students' confidence to speak in front of the crowd. The best thing is we get points for participation, so as long as you show up, your grade might not be so bad.
