i ended up having to drop her online class because she never emailed me. actually that's a lie, she emailed me the hw assignments after i dropped the class

My sister and I were suppose to take her for Eng 100, but after the first day of class, we dropped it already. She was never clear and she already picked favorites. Her essays topics were not helpful at all and she never explained them well.

I took her english online class. She was definately the worst teacher I've ever had. She was very unclear and when you asked her a question, she would belittle you and make you feel stupid. She was unbelieveably rude and unhelpful and I don't know how she got in this proffesion.

She was incredible not user friendly as an instructor. Her timing was terrible with the return of papers. So you couldn't learn from your mistakes. Not impressed with her teaching styles and ablities.

Worst instructor ever. Not clear at all, uses ambiguous explainations that confuse everyone. Started with 29 ended with 11 people. She's very late handing back work, no chance to fix problems. You ask for help, she gives vague answers that confuse you even more. Don't waste your time.

This is the worst teacher. I took her class online and ended up dropping it after a couple weeks. She did't explain the assignments and then told us we were not allowed to ask questions. She is a terrible teacher and I do not understand how she is still a teacher at Cypress.

Ambika Talwar is, by far, the worst teacher I have ever encountered! She is extremely ambiguous in her prompts, making it very difficult to write a well thought out paper. She would shoot down answers to subjective questions if she did not agree with them. I strongly recommend any student reading this not to take her course.

Worst english teacher i ever had. possibly the worst and dumbest teacher ever. Didn't explain the assignments at all. Einstein probably couldn't figure out what she was assigning. She had poor grammar skills. Example: Used the word wholistically to explain one of her assignments. wholistically isn't even a word. Someone should buy her a dictionary.

I am an A writer. I have written several things in the past for many different classes and alwasy recieved an A. However when grading a paper of mine, she proceeded to get me a D for lack of clarity. When I retook the class, I recieved an A. Avoid her at all costs!!!!

I agree with the vast majority. She is not helpful at all, very self righteous, and gives ridiculously low grades for stupid things like putting your name in the right corner instead of the left. I don't know how she teaches English because she herself does not use proper grammar. Her lectures are full of fragments and mistakes. Waste of your time.

If you pick this teacher for your class you might as well jump out of a plane without a parachute.

You will learn nothing in this class. Sometimes if teachers are bad you can still absorb some lessons, but not in this case. If your opinion is not in line with hers, she will grade you down vastly.No opinions allowed, which is sad in the world of academia. An A student receives a bad grade in class, do not take unless you are masochistic.

Started new semester Aug 20,2008 at Cypress. Teacher had a cold attitude towards students. She asked student to close a book he was reading rudely. Assignments very unclear. I am dropping this class 1 class meeting was enough. I am not even opening the wrapper off my new book. She has you do way too much work! I enjoy writing yet not in her class!

Too much assignments in one. she told me that I didn't add the 5 vocab words in my essay. I looked through all the assignments and couldn't find the 5 vocabs words she wanted, so I asked her where they were and her response was " you can get them anywhere, a magazine, another book, anywhere". There were no instructions of that.

I agree with most of the comments. Her instructions are very very unclear and I never know exactly what she wants. I don't like the way she grades. She marked me down in an essay because she didn't get the point i was trying to make. I DO NOT recommend her at all.

Because I have no choice, have to take this class and find some way to get through the semester. So far, the other reviews speak the truth. Her directions are horrible and unclear. For an English Prof. you'd think her written directions would be clearer, but they're not.

This teacher is terrible. I would never take her as a teacher again! She gave me a 70% on an essay about my greatest life achievement because she thought it was boring and an unimportant. It was about how I was the first in my family to graduate highschool. That was the only critique she wrote on my entire paper. RIDICULOUS!

Directions are very unclear and she will not clarify them for you. This class is not really an English class but it is a bad philosophy class. She is definitely a pseudo-intellectual. Assignments are long without cause and are only busy-work.

Homework instructions are very brief with little clarity as to what she wants, but she expects so much out of you. And she doesn't keep up with grading being at least 3 week behind.

Impossible to please because you cant understand what she wants. Promotes creative writing then marks you down for it. Transferring, too many staff like this at cypress.

Class is difficult to follow

This is my only ever review of a teacher only because she was so bad. Her prompts were ambiguous and her grading was subjective. I did all the assignments and all the work above and beyond given word limits. I never got more than a B on any of my assignments and when I emailed her on how I can improve she said to get some outside tutoring. Horrible

AWFUL. She is an absolutely terrible teacher. Her grading is super subjective and she won't tell you why she gave a bad grade on an assignment. The prompts are very strange and theoretical. She has no idea what she's doing or how to teach a class. DO NOT TAKE HER

This professor is unclear on what she wants. She doesnt necessarily grade on if you write well and if your thoughts are clear. If she doesnt agree with you she marks your grade down. Would not take this professor again. Really terrible and annoying.

Every week i feel like im turning a new page in Where is Waldo trying to find prompts on the many essays shes asking to write. Her ideas are very abstract so this often leads to her journal and essay prompts being unclear or confusing. If you don't write exactly what she wants then she wont accept it. She can come off as aggressive and wont really let you have an opinion that contradicts hers. Don't dare to come late unless you want to be talked down to.

She is unclear on what she wants done. I have taken this class twice and had to help other students on what to do. I thought a second attempt would lead me to a better grade since its a chance to redo it. If you miss one assignment you receive a D or an F like I did. She also doesn't announce due dates if your online you need to look all the time.

This professor does not deserve the right to teach English. The quizes she gives had many errors that threw off the answer resulting in poor scores for all students in class and she had no intention to apologize or reconsider. Visited professor in office and she told me that education system is flawed and that our generation is the issue..

Very hard grader will comment on every little thing wrong. Gives lots of essays and is very unclear on what the prompt is. Very hard class to pass and I did very well in Engl 100.

Do not take her class. She doesn't even use proper grammar when she writes her prompts. She doesn't seem very smart and is not qualified to be an English teacher. I have never gotten below a B+ in English but I ended up having to drop. Her opinion is what she thinks is correct in her mind even if its proper usage of punctuation and grammar.

Having this class with Professor Talwar was extremely difficult. She made lots of mistakes in writing essay prompts/quizzes and directing us in what to write or how we can improve our writing. Up to now. she is the only English professor Ive had who rarely provided any clear or helpful feedback. Very disappointed that I had to withdraw in the end.

PLEASE. do not take this professor. Very unclear with things such as prompts and is tough at grading. Taking this class online for eng 103 and it's mostly reading the textbook, a few discussions, and a major paper. You mostly write about environment and what not and it's just a lot of unneeded stress, save yourself and just take a different prof.

Her prompt itself was 4 pages long & the paper was supposed to be 7 pages (2100 words). After our rough draft she changed the word count to 1600 words midsubmission. She preaches about open-mindedness yet lacks the ability to understand or sympathize. I highly recommend avoiding her at all costs. Theres a reason to why she has a poor rating; you have been warned.
