He's a grad student and he cares a lot about his student. He replies to your email super fast and also keeps your grades updated fast. I had problem understanding when he talked because he said um a lot and it was quite distracting. Besides that his class was super interesting and I love it.
Cares about his students. Can be funny occasionally. Not a lot of information on his power points and the lectures can get off topic so the textbook is helpful for exam prep and homework. Weekly online homework (super easy). Random in-class activities are a part of the grading.
He is a great professor and cares a lot about his students. He will change his teaching method to meet the needs of students. Always willing to help students outside of class.
Professor Almuaybid is awesome. He really wants his students to succeed and responds to emails/questions the same day. I am a psych major and I will be taking every course offered by this professor. His Lectures are engaging, unlike your average professor who sounds as though they are reading you the textbook. Highly recommend.
LOVE. LOVE. LOVE. Did I mention I love him?? Show up to class for in-class activities, do weekly homework (super easy), take good notes on lectures, and take advantage of extra credit opportunities and you'll get an A! :)
Very enthusiastic and puts a lot of time into the lectures. Attendance isn't mandatory but there are several in-class activities during the term for credit. I do recommend reading the textbook as it makes the exams a lot easier, but it's very easy to get a hold of the professor if you need extra help; he makes it clear that his students come first.
Clear and engaging lectures, online HW follows the book closely, tests are straight-forward. Lots of extra credit available. About the same difficulty level as 201 with another prof (which is to say, relatively easy). I'm glad I took his class!
Took PSY 202 from him, and he's great. He's confident and clear in what he teaches. Also, he gives a good amount of extra credit possibilities. The class average on the midterms was in the mid 80%'s. He's passionate in what he teaches which also helps you pay attention.
This is my second time having Ameer as an instructor. He is truly a rare gem and cares about his students so much. His passion shines through in his lectures, which makes it much more interesting. He is also very approachable which is nice.I would def recommend 202 over 201 if given the choice (and so would Ameer!) but both classes are interesting.
I want to dislike him but he is a really good teacher. His jokes are pretty funny, I hate try-hard teachers but i guess this one is alright. Study, you will get good grades. I think i just expected more interesting things from the class, but that's the book's fault. He's a great teacher.
Ameer is a great professor! He is very friendly and approachable, and his lectures are easy to understand. He is quick to respond by email, and he always posts exam grades immediately after the test (so fast!). The class is doable without the textbook, as well. Ameer truly cares about his students and wants them to succeed.
I love psychology so this class wasn't too hard. However, he gives 3 midterms and a final with no study guide. He does allow you keep the three midterms to study off of for the final though. He is caring and has a few extra credit opportunities. The lectures can get a little boring but take good notes and you should be fine.
Ameer is an awesome teacher and is very passionate about what he teaches. His lectures can be hard to follow sometimes has he has a tendency to ramble a bit, but his tests are easy. This class is way more interesting than PSY 201 so if you're just taking this for BAC take 202.
Ameer is raved over on campus. But I did not enjoy his teaching. When he lectures, he has his own agenda. He will talk about the topic but will make sure to inject his opinion. Some may find it endearing, but I did not find it beneficial in any way. He also tries too hard to be funny and it made moments in class very awkward.
He seemed very passionate about psychology. He says, "don't take the easy route." His class has 3 exams and inclass assignments (he won't tell you when). Show up to class. I did feel like he was bias and would put his own opinion about his things.
He's a pretty great instructor. He's very accessible and friendly. Provides a lot of extra credit opportunities: 40 points of the final was extra credit! Drops one of your in class activity scores and lowest homework score. Tests aren't difficult, but reading the book helps a lot because the difficult questions usually come from the book.
Ameer is a fairly new professor in this department! But he is awesome! There was never a time in which I was bored because I was fascinated the whole time. His tests are favorable if you go to lecture and skim the book for clarification and keywords. Overall, Great class! And he's friendly! And you obtain a lot of knowledge!
Great professor, would recommend for any classes he teaches.
While Ameer cares about the subject matter intensely, his lectures are unfortunately very difficult to follow and sit through. His sporadic talking style makes it hard to figure out what to take notes on besides the slides, and his tangents are often extremely off-topic. His inability to answer questions directly and simply is frustrating.
I always look forward to Ameers class. Hes a very fair grader and has removed questions from tests if he realized it was tricky, and gives extra credit. Hes inspirational and really cares about his students. Hes easy to get ahold of outside of class and wants to help. He does in class activities randomly though, so make sure you attend class
Had Ameer for Psych 202 about a year ago. One of the best classes I've ever had, to the extent that I still have my favorite lecture recordings on my phone. Not a textbook teacher, so definitely show up to class (not that you'd want to miss anyway). Speaking style does take some getting used to, (I recommend recording lectures for that reason).
Great teacher, his lectures go by quickly sometimes. Be sure to read the text because not all of it is covered in class and it will be included on the exams.
Ameer is a great professor. He cares about his student's success. Just put in the work and you'll be fine. He gives out a fair amount of extra credit and all of his tests are multiple choice.
He's funny and genuinely cares about his students success. Multiple times he checks in with the class to see how people are actually doing. He gives practice questions before each midterm rating them for how hard they are and also gives you the answers to them. Tests have extra credit questions and also he curves. He keeps the lectures interactive
I personally didn't like Ameer's teaching style, but he is passionate about psychology and the exams were easy if you went to class, took decent notes and reviewed them for the exams.
Never have I been to Ameers class and was not fascinated by his lectures. His style of speech made it very easy to follow through as he does a very great job engaging the information taught to real life experiences. Medium-difficulty tests & a fair amount of homework.
I did not enjoy this class what so ever. Ameer is very sporadic in his lectures which makes them hard to follow. There are no study guides, so you are left helpless when it comes to studying for the the 3 midterms and final. He does give you ample oppirtunites for extra credit which is nice. Won't be taking any psych courses after this though.
Ameer was a decent professor. He's pretty funny and really knows the topics he teaches, but he can be kind of rude if he doesn't like you. Try to make a good impression early. If you can do that, you're in for a good class.
Ameer is by far my favorite professor! I don't really have a particular interest in Psychology but he made the class so interesting and fun. I am taking another psych class from his next term! If you show up and do the work, you will get an A
Ameer makes psychology really impossible to learn. Very into himself, pretty much makes every topic related to his life. He's voice makes it hard to listen because he randomly screams and is obnoxious.
Ameer is the type of professor you either love or hate. He's funny and makes lectures really fun, but he can go off topic sometimes and his sense of humor can come off as rude to some people. If you don't get offended easily, you'll love him and love the class.
This is the second class I've taken with Ameer. He's a solid choice, and is very passionate about psychology, which shows through his lectures. He will have test questions over things covered in class along with in-class activities, so try not to skip. Overall great prof.
He is very passionate about psychology, which makes lectures fun and easy to follow. Has study sessions for a few hours before test days that are very useful, and his tests are easy as long as you attend lectures and at least skim the reading. Very approachable and wants the best for his students. One of my favorite classes by far!
Ameer is very passionate about Psychology which makes his lectures amazing. He gives a lot of extra credit and posts old midterms and finals that are very effective in helping you study. In class assignments are random so make sure you don't skip. He's newish but dresses very professionally.
His class can be hard to focus in when he constantly goes off topic and is mad corny when he tries to be funny. He does grade all exams throughout the term within 90 minutes of taking it which was awesome & he's also super quick with responding to emails. Make sure you read and attend or you'll fail.
Ameer is probably the best teacher I've ever had. He cares about student learning and success, made every lecture fascinating, and even convinced me to add a psych minor! I was so disappointed when I couldn't take his class again this term. I highly recommend Ameer to anyone taking a psychology class! (Also lots of extra credit opportunities)
I DREAD going to this class. He plays the same annoying song before every class and at this point it has worse associations than my alarm sound. He is annoying, pretentious, and cynical. In his lectures he hypes it up to try to blow your mind, when in reality he is just explaining the textbook concepts with confusing examples that don't relate.
Ameer knows what hes talking about. Definitely attend class it helps a ton. Be ready for some stupid jokes as well, he really tries. Its not bad though. Hes a good teacher and gets a clear point across about what you need to know to get a good grade.
Ameer can come off as conceited, but he is an amazing teacher. The course is really enjoyable. Make sure to go to lectures, because that is what he uses for the midterms.
Ameer's lectures are great. It's an intro class, you won't go too deep into each topic, but it is great for non-psych major to know a little more about each topic about psychology. What you learn from this class is useful for life. The exams questions are all MCQ and are straight-forward. Just go to the lectures and do your reading, it's an easy A.
Passionate about topic, made very interesting points, genuinely enjoyed style of teaching, often went on 15min examples so read book before so know what to take note of, ask questions outside class, in-class often shot back at student trying to create thought-provoking discussion but ended up singling them out making embarrassingly explain selves.
Anyone who says this class is difficult is probably not using their resources to their full potential. Past posted exams and Launchpad practice problems are great study tools that are very reflective of exam questions. There's also a lot of in-class-activities and extra credit opportunities!
Contradicts himself all the time. For example, he explains how he doesn't mind if you use your phone in class, but will kick you out of the class if you actually do. He promotes his social media every class period after playing awful pop music on blast, just before he talks about HIMSELF for half the lecture to provide 'examples' that are not relat
These lectures are really hard to sit through. Hes an okay teacher and does really care about his students. But he talks so fast and inserts a pop culture reference about every 4 minutes, that it becomes annoying. Honestly a disappointment, since I liked the course material.
Ameer is a passionate about psychology, but he says um a lot and can be a little boring in lecture. If you have him for online, I suggest not going to live lectures and listening back at 2x speed later. Do the posted exams from last year, he reuses a lot of the answers.
Despite his strange pop culture references to be "relatable" with students, he really does care about the success of his students and is passionate about what he is teaching. He sometimes even switches up the course material to what the class wants to talk about. Work in the class is manageable/easy, and as long as you do the work you will be fine.
I really liked how he was very interactive with the lecture and real world examples. He was very and he encouraged us to interact with him on social media-totally awesome! She is very open to letting us get help before midterms, and hes also very good at reminding us when big projects due dates are coming up, even though hes not required to.
Ameer is funny and I loved going to his lectures, but few people actively participated and that annoyed him. He gave lots of examples of how psychology applies to the real world, it made all of the information seem relevant and useful. Tests were pretty by the book, and the final essay was very open-ended. The class is really what you make it!
I took this class during covid so it was remote learning. He makes lec very engaging and is very spirited. Gives A LOT of extra credit (40 points for attendance). I'm taking his PSY 201 next term and I can't wait :)
This guy seems like he really cares about his students and enjoys what he teaches, but the lectures. Dear lord. I can't stand them. Having to sit through his "jokes" and long-winded rants in the name of being relatable is so frustrating. He spends so much time trying to make everything into a big production, that I just read the book instead.
Ameer truly cares about teaching and his students' success but I absolutely cannot sit through another one of his classes. Goes off on tangents during the lecture to over explain/simplify concepts. Offers lots of extra credit opportunities. Just read the textbook before the exams and you will pass no problem.
He has a lot of extra credit for your grade. Also class is optional and he's pretty engaging.
Ameer provides many chances for extra credit and has great lectures that many student find useful in their daily lives. He cares about his students and uses toggle grading (100% if done, 50% if partially done, 0% if incomplete). Do the work and it's an easy A. The exams have some tricky questions but are okay if you study properly.
Exam questions were difficult. I only got an A in the course because of the many extra credit opportunities. Take all the extra credits that you can possibly do because it would save your grade a lot after the midterms and final. He's a great lecturer and made the class very fun and interesting. Interacts with students a lot.
Personally, I cant stand the way he teaches. We aren't allowed to record the slides, but its not like there is anything on the slides. He just puts titles and talks and its hard to take notes. His "pop culture" references interrupt his lectures and he talks about himself. He hates the Kardashians and the office and has to mention that every minute
Nothing personal, I guess, but I really cannot stand this guy. This dudes ENTIRE life is built on student validation, and he will go to absolutely any length to get that. He incessantly plugs his social media in class, and is always active on it. His lectures lack any substance, he only talks about himself, and he gives NO feedback on assignments.
Great professor, gives really good lectures. He likes pop culture references and he will try and make you laugh every class. There is a little reading, but its pretty interesting. Enjoyed the class over all
He would ramble about himself and Bumped my grade down on my science paper to a 32/64 because I met all the topics except how I would change the world with it, which is kind of BS. He did however make extensions if you asked, and was kind in certain aspects. His teaching style isnt my forte
This is the third class I've had with this professor (I previously have taken PSY 202 and PSY 199 careers) and I would recommend, if possible, switching up professors after having a class with him. He's great, but I find that I've stopped feeling motivated in this class because his courses tend to blend together a bit.
Ameer is a wonderful professor. He's extremely engaging during lectures and funny. He is also very approachable and wants to see all of his students succeed. Course wasn't too hard. If you read the assigned textbook every week and take notes, you will do fine. I always looked forward to lecture and laughed several times during the course.
I really enjoy Ameer as a professor. He is thorough and kind hearted and always makes class interesting. I took a class from him last term and loved it, so now I'm taking two of his classes this term. He's a great teacher, and I highly recommend taking at least one of his courses.
Prof. Ameer is knowledgeable in his field but talks A LOT. This can be great or bad depending on how you want to spend your class time. He can come off as arrogant but won't put down students for asking questions. He is the type of professor where you either love him or dislike him. Overall, he knows his stuff and his intro classes are super easy.
I like the content, but he made me dislike coming to class. He goes on long irrelevant tangents (38 mins recorded once), he's condescending, says bad cynical "jokes", comes off as stuck-up, cares too much about student validation, the slides don't have much useful content, and he makes this feel like high school, not college with grown adults
Ameer specifically said he doesn't look at his RMP. He created an awkward and uncomfortable environment through insensitive comments and the same (semi-culturally relevant) jokes on repeat. He desperately yearns for student validation, yet doesn't treat us as adults, threatening to kick students out of class. The slides and lecture are unhelpful.
Young, high energy professor who teaches with a lot of enthusiasm. He wants to help prepare students for life outside of college. His jokes and memes add humor to the class. Not a lot of home work (a pretest, quiz, and short writing assignment) each week. Really great professor, very easy class, very good experience.
His lectures are so hard to follow, unrelated to the content, and unbearable to listen to. He continues to insinuate how we are the most 'unengaged class he has had' and threatens to kick people out if we aren't paying attention when the majority of the time, he constantly goes on tangents and brings up pop culture references solely for validation.
It pains me to attend lecture, truly my body hurts when he try's so hard to be a woke relevant teenybopper biotch. He will yell at the class if no-one submits a meme to him, also if you take a zoom class with him, don't he's mean :/.
Terrible professor, but the grading is even worse. Surprised this person is even allowed to teach as he is extremely unprofessional and the grading does not reflect the quality of work.
He seemed like a nice guy, but his teaching style was not for me. He tried way too hard to be relatable, had a massive thing for students submitting "memes" about him/his class. Goes on only semi-related tangents or really long stories to explain basic concepts OFTEN, which made it hard to stay engaged. His class wasn't hard, but very annoying.
I had high hopes for this professor, but I was disappointed. His lectures were unhelpful and consisted of long, unrelated tangents that are difficult to listen to. He is very talkative but it came across as ingenuine and excessive. Lots of forced pop culture references to try to be relatable. An easy class, but not enjoyable in the slightest.
My man loves to be "inspirational."
I was excited for this class- as the professor was hyped up. This was a major mistake, although he knows his stuff, lectures were boring and mostly non informational, his slides are empty and not helpful and he doesn't grade anything until the end of the term (Week 8) He seeks student validation in the worst way, would not recommend.
The class was fine- content was easy to understand. When it comes to his lectures, personally I wanted to repeatedly bang my head on the wall and throw up. He tries to be relatable but the way he tries so hard is embarrassing. I would let this slide if his lectures were reasonable, but he can not get a single coherent sentence out of his mouth.
He deems himself as being the best professor because he's "informal" and relates to his students, but he goes so far that it's actually extremely unprofessional. His sentences are all incoherent, vague and impossible to take notes on. Only things he talks about: himself, himself, pop culture, memes, and himself.
Ameer is a professor that really wants his class to like him, which starts to hurt his ability to teach. The lectures were very long and full of pop culture or meme references. He is very passionate about the material but takes a while to express each individual thought because he darts around. Will ask for class participation from a class of 300.
Ameer is a spectacular teacher. He really knows what he's doing and his down to Earth attitude is a good balance to some of the other professors you may encounter. #embracethestress
Great guy!
Super easy class with very simple grading. Do all the work, full credit. Put in partial effort, half credit. Don't do it or completely screw it up? Zero credit. Awesome lectures, open book/open note exams, and understanding instructor. Put in the effort and it's an easy A.
Class was really easy, but he was so unprofessional! He tried to be relatable but it came off weird and almost creepy. He linked his Instagram which was odd, and when I looked he just had a lot of pictures with him and exclusively female students. Red flags all around, take the class but don't take with him
I thought he was great for an online class. Besides exam weeks, the weeks were all the same with 2 chapters, a quiz for each chapter, ALA, and a discussion. Some weeks were more time consuming than others, but it was usually fine. He did try a bit hard to be "relatable" and wanted his students to make memes and send it to his instagram?
Ameer is super down to Earth and very flexible with proper communication. He's funny and relatable and genuinely cares about his students. He made all class resources free and easy to access and understand. Everything in the course is open note and open book. For an upper division class, PSY360 is easy but you also learn a ton. #EmbraceTheStress
It has honestly just been a treat to have Ameer as an instructor. He's so intelligent and his passion for the course material shines above all else.
He's such a great guy and passionate instructors. Ameer has fantastic (but lengthy) lectures that really speak to the audience. He asks for participation but it's really fun! Ameer is a very easy grader and as long as you fulfill the criteria, he gives full points. Exams are open note an open book and simple if you do the reading. Take his classes!
PSY360 has a lot of reading and participation-based activities since it is asynchronous but it's a well built class. The schedule follows a format of a few chapters per week, quizzes, an ALA, and discussion boards. There are three exams which are completely open note and open book. Quizzes and exams are easy and assignments are graded leniently!
I really don't know why he has so many bad ratings. Ameer is one of the most compassionate and encouraging instructors I've had. He is so supportive of his students succeeding. I really wish I had an in-person class with him because there's a lot of reading in Ecampus PSY360 but nothing is really difficult. It's an easy class with simple exams.
PSY211 is a P/NP careers class which has a purpose of introducing psychology to you. I think Ameer has made it a wonderful experience so far and he really cares about his students. Like I said it's a P/NP class so it's not hard at all and Ameer is a very easy grader so there's nothing to be concerned about. He makes me want to pursue psychology!
His ratings should not be this low. He can be a corny guy but it is so painfully obvious how much he cares about his students and how passionate he is about psychology. Despite a lack of interaction in an online class, Ameer is simply amazing and I love how responsive he is to emails. Grading criteria is clear and you'll do well if you do the work.
Really enjoyed Ameer's relaxed, supportive and encouraging attitude. I felt he was genuinely invested in his student's success and made the content really easy to understand and access. Would absolutely take this class again and I look forward to others of his. Note: This is a Pass/Fail graded class so full marks for completion on assignments.
Ameer considers himself as a fun- out going professor but does not provide any lectures for the online class. The test answers are easily found by google search and some of the assignments are not clear of what is required. Ameer is comfortable sharing his instagram with fellow students but is not willing to write an reference letter.
I wished there was more interactiveness in this Ecampus class but t's clear what needs to be studied to do well. Ameer is willing to help out with anything he can and he makes it clear he's flexible. Very easy to approach guy. Class overall is not hard at all. Exams are open book and textbook is easy to read. Some weeks are harder than others.
One of the easiest classes I've taken at OSU yet. Even easier than PSY201 and 202 to be completely honest. Prof is understanding that students have other priorities, especially in the summer. Little interactiveness but Ameer makes his presence known and offers extra support if needed. Exams are open book and have very straightforward questions.
Never answers emails or grades assignments. Genuinely so impossible to get in contact with. He is super understanding and nice and seems to care but you just can't reach him and you wont know your grade.
I've taken every class he offers and am sad that there are no others. He's so easy-going, supportive and fun. When grading he's more interested in your learning ability and grasping concepts than nit-picking over margin sizes or exact word counts. Far less pressure AND uses an excellent, free textbook that is actually interesting to read!
Love Ameer! He was always kind and responsive to questions. Grading was extremely forgiving and assignments really let you run wild with how you wanted to learn the content. Stay on top of your work and the class is an easy A.
No exams but just a lot of homework that felt like busy work. Do the work and you will pass with an A.
Ameer makes all his classes some of the easiest you will ever take at Oregon State. They are low stress and extremely informative. He cares a lot about what you think and has a very student-centered approach to teaching. Highly recommend!
Incredible!
