Good professor. Uses overheads for notes. Homework is gone over in class, so you don't really have to do it. Tests are fairly easy.
Can't understand half of the things she says, and she tries to teach you her language, whatever that is. homework is done in groups, which is nice. Tests are not too bad. Read the book and you'll do fine.
Boring class, but she tries to liven it up. Not the worst professor, just difficult to follow at times. She drops lowest quiz and lowest homework grade so that is a major benefit.
nice teacher and will help you. easy class to get an A in if you do the work. BEST econ teacher there is at lacrosse
Her accent is totally cute! I loved just to hear her speak! That aside, she is a VERY good teacher. Have had 3 econ profs. since Amena, and I still say Amena is the best one I've had! :-)
She is super nice, but sometimes you will not understand what she says and vice versa. Hard to get her to clarify something that she explained. Homework is done in groups and she drops lowest testscore. Anyway, the best teacher I had in any ECON class.
Good lady. Lets you work in groups on homework assignments and test are straight forward. Not a hard class at all if you have any thinking abilities at all.
VERY nice lady! Wants to have a little fun in class and tries to help you as much as she can. She is hard to understand at times and often has a difficult time understanding questions; therefore, she has a hard time explaining the answer.
This class is pretty easy. She lectures pretty well sometimes, but others can get really boring. It's also hard to understand her sometimes with that accent. Overall, I expect a high grade from the class and knew nothing going into the class and had no interest. I'd take her again over most others.
Although i found Mrs. Khandaker very informative at some times i couldnt really understand her most of the time.
This is a very hard class especially if you are not interested in it. She can be difficult to understand too.
actually an easy class to get a B or above, a lot of homework points that are easy as hell, tests kinda suck but you can drop one and use a note card, class is real boring, she just goes straight out of the book, so your better off not wasting your time and reading the book....
Not a great prof, but a pretty good one. Tests are fair and you can get an A with some effort.

Nice Lady, Once you get use to her accent she really is pretty easy to understand.

amena is very funny, and really nice! She has such a great personality! But, I could only comprehend the first 35 minutes of class. After that, it was like my translator turned off. Her accent is so strong, that it's really hard for me to understand what she's trying to say. I'm mangaging a B, only because I read the chapters and teach myself.
Worst teacher I have ever had! She goes way too fast, she's hard to understand, she never answers questions very good, you still won't understand it if you go into her office for help, and I literally have not understood one thing she has said all semester. Would drop out of school before I had to take her again!
She is very hard to understand but then after awhile you start to get used to it. Read the chapters and you will be okay. You get to use a notecard for tests. She only takes 2 out of the 3 tests and 5 out of the 7 homeworks. Take her if you are good at teaching yourself!
She's a very nice professor, but can be very hard to understand. Helps students out and makes it very easy to do well. Put in a little time and you'll do great. She's hard to understand, so I'd recommend her if you can teach yourself.
Very nice lady, but hard to understand sometimes. Nice way of grading, the homeworks are easy, but the tests are hard to understand.
I'll let you know if it is actually Economics class if I ever figure out what she is saying. Good luck if you get stuck with her.
I Got a solid D
She is very hard to understand at first, but makes up for it by allowing a note card on the tests, and she even drops your lowest test score. She's a very nice lady, but you have to work hard to pay attention so you can understand what she's saying.
I am getting an AB in the class but the prof who doesn't speak English put down a BC, and she can't understand me explaining to her why it needs to be changed. Pick a prof that speaks English. She will spend the hour teaching you how to say hello in her native Bangeldash tongue instead of teaching econ. AVOID AT ALL COSTS
One of the nicest professors I have ever had. She is a little hard to understand at first but it takes a class or two and it is easier. She is super helpful and relates material to real world events to make it easier to understand.
Amena is a fantastic lady and I really enjoy her. She is not that difficult to understand contrary to others comments. She is very smart and enjoys Economics. I recommend her, but make sure you do the reading and homework. It's not an easy class, but interesting and she is helpful (extremely).
good teacher to take if you already semi-understand econ. class is boring, but helpful in the scheme of things. she takes out ur worst homework and test grades so that is great. she is always willing to help although sometimes she is hard to understand/talks nonsense. u need to read book to do well but i would recommend her
Amena is VERY hard to understand. If you are not semi-familiar with economics and/or professors with very strong accents - do not take this class/professor.
for me. very hard to understand. i dropped it half way through (i've never had econ before) but i think she assumed everyone knew something about it, and i don't. Her english isn't that bad...hard to understand at first. good luck if u take her!
Was a very helpful and nice lady. It seems as though the questions on the tests are different from the way she teaches them. Not a bad class if you know economics well, need to teach yourself a lot. Also lets you use a notecard and drops your worst test and homework grade.....that helps!
She's a little hard to understand when she starts talking faster, but the class was really easy...read the text and you'll be fine! I'd recommend her
very nice lady, helpfull and knows her materials pertty good. i would recommened her class
ECON is very hard for me and she didn't make it any easier. She was a very nice lady, but very hard for me to understand at times. She went through the material too quickly and assumed alot about her student's knowledge of the subject. Drops one test and one homework grade. Very difficult if you don't know anything about econ.
She is a nice lady, but I feel like she confuses herself really easily. Especially while drawing on the board. Be prepared to read the book because you will have to teach yourself most of the chapters. Also her grammar isn't very good while writing so some of her notes don't really make sense.
If you want to take an art class, take Econ with Amena!! You draw the same thing over and over again. It's rediculously boring, she doesn't use verbs. Examples:"how are students do on exam?" ya i'm no english professor but come on...Decently easy, I hate it though...
Difficult topic, and she seems to confuse herself when teaching it. If you read the book and teach yourself you'll be fine. 7 homework assignments and 3 tests outside the final. She drops your 2 lowest homeworks and your lowest of the 3 chapter tests. If you can learn by yourself I would recommend her. If not, try someone else.
For someone who didn't know anything about this topic before hand, after a semester of classes, i still don't know anything. It is very hard to understand her, also it is real hard to not fall asleep. The language she uses for all of her tests can hardly be called English, look else where for a professor for this class
I think for International students she is very kind.I like her.And the way she counted ur score was just so-so.She used 6 homeworks and 3 exams and a final. The grades will be counted by 5 best homeworks and 2best exams and the final. I think she is Good.
She was a decent teacher. Very nice and caring professor. The material can be a little confusing at times but all in all a pretty simple class. You can pretty much get 100% on all of your homework points if you work well with your group. Tests can be tricky but she only takes your best 2/3 and the final was not that hard!
If you read the chapter and listen during lecture it's an easy A
Loved this professor. Always in a great mood. Best if you read the book before class. Homework is always done in groups, and tests aren't that bad. Just read the book and pay attention and you'll do fine.
Loved loved loved her. She couldn't be more friendly and willing to help you. Very approachable. As long as you read the book and follow along in class you will be fine!
Amena is a very nice lady, but not a good professor. Her English simply is not up to par, especially for teaching such a recondite subject. She speaks way to quickly, doesn't follow the syllabus, and, frankly, uses a very poor textbook. I'd highly recommend taking another professor if you'd like to learn something, but it's an easy A.
Very easy grader, drops lowest test. Homework is done in groups. Very hard to understand, though...accent.
The concepts in this class are not overly difficult to understand...we're all consumers, we get it. However, the class can still be quite challenging at times. This prof has a thick Indian accent and is seriously hard to understand. She does talk at a fast pace and what is heard isn't always what she said. Pay close attention.
amena is a very nice lady, but i would still advise you NOT TO TAKE THIS CLASS IF YOU HAVE HAVE AN OPTION OF TAKING IT WITH ANOTHER TEACHER! or unless you enjoy the frustration of learning solely from a text book. I'm taking this class ECO110 right now, and it sucks. take haluk!
Very nice lady, but her accent is terrible. You get used to it with time, but it can be tough. Write down what she puts on the board and you should be ok. I pretty much have to reteach myself everything from the book. 3 exams, a final, and 6 homework assignments. she drops your lowest exam and homework, homework is done with a group.
Amena is a nice lady but seriously I cannot stand her. Her accent and lecture structure are terrible. She jumps around, draws 1000 graphs, and in general is quite boring. The class isn't tough at all (I'm getting a 94%) but I would get a diff prof if possible.
Very nice lady, and her accent is easy to understand (if you pay attention). The graphs she draws are helpful and will be on the test. She drops lowest exam and homework scores and also had homework discussion to help students get a better grade. I enjoyed going to her class although econ really isn't my thing.
I have had here for ECO 110 and 120. Pretty easy proffesor, I had close to 100% in both classes. It helps to go to class, but if you don't it is all right out of the book
The classes are dull, but the subject matter she uses is interesting. I did not really get anything out of the classes, but reading the text helped a lot. Lots of opportunity for extra credit. I would recomend her.
Easy class. She has you take a lot of notes. You NEED to go to class though. If you write down everything she does on the board and her notes, that's all you need for the 3 tests she gives. You get a notecard for the tests. Homework is done in groups during class. Accent..but you get used to it.
Very difficult to understand, youll learn to entertain yourself when she says shift or firm. Class tho is easy if you read the book. Lowest test and hw dropped and you get a notecard for test. So if you can stand skimming the book its an easy A but again very hard to understand
Well, I definitely wouldn't take the class again, but I wasn't at all interested in the topic. There are 3 tests & 5 or 6 HW assignments. She drops the worst of both. Apparently all you have to do to get a good grade is read the book. I'd only take the class if you have to or if you are genuniely interested. She's an okay teacher to take it with.
She's really hard to understand with her accent sometimes, but overall a good teacer. It helps if you buy the workbook and go through it before tests.
Very hard to understand because of a thick accent.
It's true Amena is hard to understand, but she is one of the nicest profs you will find. She is very helpful if you go to her office. If you actually make an effort her class an A or AB will be easy.
Did not like Amena. Felt ridiculed for asking questions. Makes politicaly slanted statements before class starts. 3 exams 5 homework drop the worst and get a notecard. Somehow ended up top of class 99.5% as a biology major. Easy, but if you're not a liberal your might have to bite your tounge.
I received an A in the class, but I can honestly she is one of the worst professors I have ever had. You cannot understand her, and she forces political opinions down your throat. If you are someone who feels the need to attend class, you're better off just sitting there and reading the book. You will get nothing but confusion if you try to listen.
Had her for ECO 110 and she was incredibly easy. However, that was NOT the case for ECO 120. She becomes a complete hardass. Don't fall into the trap I did, take someone else for this class.
She is impossible to understand and doesn't answer questions. All quizzes were extra credit. You're better off teaching yourself.
Terrible lectures, super boring, impossible to understand, they should just put an open textbook in front of the class and call it good.
Her accent is a barrier and her communication is a problem, too. She doesn't understand students' questions, so she never let students finish their questions and just started to repeat what she had said. For a good grade, you'd better read the book yourself. Her slides are well-organized, though and she's nice and always willing to help.
To be completely honest, I rarely went to class. She is very difficult to understand, and her lecture material is directly from the book. There are 3 tests in which each question is 5 points, and they are quite difficult. There are also 5, 20 point homeworks, and 4 extra credit quizzes. Only take her if there is nobody else to take.
She is a great professor! As long as you read the assigned pages BEFORE she lectures it should make sense. Sure, she has a strong accent, but you get used to it! Also, she's always willing to explain everything... I'm taking her again this semester for 110!
Amena's a super sweet woman, but unless you enjoy having to reteach yourself the from the textbook, I don't reccommend her. This class is difficult enough as it is, so the language barrier only adds to the difficulty. The grading process is sooo confusing. (She adjusts bonus pts so they don't actually add up to anything...)not reccommended.
she has a strong accent, but if you read the book b4 the class, you will be fine. EXAMS ARE NOT HARD AS LONG AS YOU READ BOOKS AND DO ASSIGNMENTS. She gives a lots of extra credits which will be help you improve your grade.
She was difficult to understand and did not explain the material well. She also was not helpful when approached.
she only covers certain things from the book in lecture but expects u to no things from the book for the test but she doesnt provide study guide or put notes online. not helpful or approachable and notes are hard to take b/c she writes half of them on the board. she also doesnt use d2l at all or put grades online.
Has a very strong accent, but she is an awesome teacher. Her accent made me tune in better and I actually learned more than I have in previous economics classes. I liked her so much I took Eco 120 this semester. There isn't much homework, but if you don't study you won't do well. All in all its a great class provided by an awesome professor!
Very confusing to understand her and makes it really hard to get an A. 3 tests throughout the year plus the final. 5 hw assignments which you do in groups.
Strong accent, but she draws most things out on the board. 3 test and a cumulative final, but lots of extra credit. Not too hard of a class if you spend time reading the book and studying before exam.
The homework was done on your own but when came time to turn it in, you got into a group and discussed answers and turned in one hw sheet for all 3-4 of you. Exams are challenging and each question is 5pts. She tries very hard to make herself available for office hours. She has a strong accent and can be difficult to understand her.
Draws everything on the board. Do not sit on the side with the computer, you will never see what she's writing. Don't sit in the back, you won't hear her. Her accent is very hard to understand as well. Homework is on your own, but you do get in a group. Makes you feel dumb when you ask for help. Teach yourself, she doesn't.
The class requires a lot of understanding, if you do not attend you'll miss crucial information for tests & quizzes. Her quizzes count as extra credit; study for them, they don't effect your grade but will boost any grade on the edge! It is so worth it. Go to her office visits! She is a super nice professor * wants you to see her- extra credit too.
Amena is super nice. Lectures are long. Material is EASY (If you've taken a Macro course in highschool) if not... You need to put a little extra work in. Easy A if you study for every exam 2 days in advance. 98% in the class.
Not sure why she gets such poor reviews. Yes, her accent is thick but you get used to it fairly quickly. She is a super nice professor. She gives lot of extra credit (all quizzes are extra credit) and is always willing to answer questions during lectureoffice hours. I was nervous going into this class because of reviews but I have no complaints!
She is a very nice lady and loves to talk to her students, especially if you sit in the front. There's a lot of extra credit opportunities, which you'll need. Her tests are ridiculous. The wording she uses is tough to understand. She doesn't use the book very often, but it is helpful to look at it before lectures to get a better understanding.
Amena is honestly so sweet and adorable. Macroeconomics is a tough subject, but she is very willing to help. Take advantage of her extra credit opportunities, it helps your grade big time! The quizzes are very similar to examples in the book and tests are similar to homework questions.
Worst professor I ever had. Talks fast and quiet, so try and get a seat in the front the first day. That's your seat for the rest of the semester. Will go over some topics in extreme detail, and barely mention others. If you ask for help she will only repeat what she said in class and give you a condescending look. Tests are worth 80% of the grade.
Amena is probably my favorite teacher so far through one year at UW-L. She truly cares about the success of her students, and does a very good job at explaining topics in a basic way that everyone can understand. Her accent can be tough to decipher at first, but you will get used to it. Would definitely recommend and take her again.
Amena is the best! She does have a thick accent so it can be hard to understand her at times, but she is more than willing to work with students at any time. Gives out homework assignments that you work on individually and then she assigns groups to discuss the answers. Easy way to lift your grade if you don't do so well on tests!
Amena is a nice lady, and she means well. However, she is not the best at helping you understand the course materials. There are many oppportunities for extra credit, and there are some points she offers in homework that are also very easy. If you study for the tests, you should be alright. Her grading scale is also nice. 90%A, 85%AB, 80%B, etc.
Amena really wants her students to succeed. Loads of extra credit which save your grade. If you are decent at econ the class is an easy A. I am horrible at econ and received an AB solely because Amena is a nice professor. She's pretty funny too. At first difficult to understand, but you get used to it. Generally a pretty easy class.
Worst Professor I have ever had. Avoid at all cost. I learned more of her language then I did Economics.
You can not understand half the words that come out of her mouth. Very hard to understand, so you have to learn most things by yourself.
She is very hard to understand. Definitely recommend reading the textbook. I showed up to every class and didn't do very well, however, people that read the textbook tend to do a lot better so definitely read the textbook.
She is really hard to understand at times but you adjust during the semester and it wasn't as big of a deal. However, I found her class to be fairly easy putting in minimal work. She puts study problems online -- DO THEM. If you do well on those study problems, the tests are the same level of difficulty / style of questions.
At first Amena was very hard to understand; however, once you begin to understand her she is a great professor! She gives a lot of extra credit opportunities which help out a lot. I also recommend doing all of the practice problems she puts on D2L because they help with test a lot. Also you have quizzes but they are all extra credit.
Classes are boring, and she's hard to understand sometimes. For the homework, you do it then work on it with a group in class and you get the same grade as your group, so I didn't do well on the homework. I studied a lot and didn't do very well on the tests. A good thing is that she offers extra credit and you have extra credit quizzes.
Although she is hard to understand, she is very nice. I don't recommend the hour and a half long classes because it is god awful (Boring). If you read the book you are good to go. She gives a crap ton of extra credit so it is very easy to pass, and she is very kind. Would recommend for an easy A.
This class is somewhat tough. She's extremely hard to understand with her accent and overall just is not good at teaching material. I practically learned nothing in her class; I had to read the textbook and that's what helped me. The only reason I got an AB was from extra credit and the lenient grading scale (90% is an A, 85% is an AB, 80% is a B).
Shes extremely hard to understand and very dry. Shes a sweet woman but its hard to understand the material. Homework is done with groups which is nice but extra credit is only available if you stand in front of the class and explain a practice problem to everyone which was never gonna happen for me.
Amena is super hard to understand and none of the stuff that she teaches during class is on the tests. Tests are pretty hard, and you have to prepare pretty much all on your own.
