Don't fall behind. Remember all the naming of the elements and the class will be a breeze. Math part not that hard if you continueously work the same problems so you can set up equations.
I literally did the most for this class and it paid off. He's interesting/enthusiastic. If you participate, use the textbook, do the hw online & TONS of e.c questions you'll be good. He encourages study groups, worksheets done in class, feedback on tests/hw. I wish every Professor could be this efficient.
DO ALL THE EXTRA CREDIT!
Class based off lecture. 3 Exams + Final. Curves tests/grade accordingly. He presents the material in a way that is easy to swallow and understand. Moderate mastering chem hw given. The test questions are based on the material he teaches. Just put the work and dedication in and you too can get an A. If you need help, see me at chem tutoring center
Awesome professor! If you need to take chem 51 I would highly suggest taking his class. He truly wants you to do well in his class. Gives a lot of helpful extra credit homework throughout the semester. Tests are tough but doable. You can tell he really cares about his students and wants you to succeed. Attend all labs! Do homework!
I took him for chem 211 and 212. 3 lecture exams + 1 final. He gives a lot of homework but many of those problems are extra credit. Do every single homework because it really boosts your grade. He explains things very well and is always caught up with the material. Exams are okay in difficulty, but the final is always pretty hard. Labs are awesome!
Very good professor. Took him for 101 and taking him for 102. Very great lectures and fairly simple exams, as long as you know the material. Only 35 question exams so can't miss many. Online homework is helpful. Only downside is that he doesn't teach his labs, which means you may get a bad lab professor.
Fantastic professor. Had him for 101. He is very simple and explains things well. The tests are mostly math problems. He gives you ample homework problems online and additional worksheets to prepare you for his exams. He is worth taking.
He is a Great professor, just work hard, but only downside is the lab teachers are not so helpful in any manner and most likely will cause a lot difficultly when you attend lab. Other that, this is a great teacher!
Great guy, great class. Must work hard for good grade.
Great Prof, took for chem 101 and 102. Very fair/clear when it comes to grading, really inspires students to be passionate about their educations. Hard to approach him about questions. Would recommend his class.
Great Professor! The reason why I love OChem is because of him, I am very sad I can't take Ochem2 with him because I am transferring. Overall he wants his students to succeed and definitely not drop the class. He is a very fair grader and helps out with extra credit when he sees the class is struggling. We definitely need more professors like him.
Professor Hajjawi is amazing. I have such a strong understanding of general chemistry because of the way he structures his course and explains its concepts. He really has a gift for teaching. I recommend him to anyone who's willing to work hard and take advantage of everything he has to offer.
Very dope teacher. This class is doable in five weeks if you focus on completing the hw and making sure to study the material. Really enjoyed the OChem section of the class but by the time we learned it class was over. He provides problem solving sheets that allow you to have a firm understanding of the concepts. Great class great teacher .
Professor Hajjawi is the best professor I've ever had. His lectures are amazing. he is very organized. absolutely inspirational. if you listen to his lectures and participate in class, you won't have any problem . I took the class in summer. it was the best five weeks ever.
I had Dr. Hajjawi for both Chem 211 and Chem 212 at LAVC. He is by far one of the worst professors I have ever had, and I have a bachelors degree (3.8G GPA). He is narcissistic and belittling. Beware when he asks for feedback; any critique you give will be turned back against you. I have never worked so hard to understand so little.
Took Professor Hajjawi for a Winter Chem 51. Very straightforward in terms grading. Gives lots of hw and practice exams. Method of teaching is a bit too fast for my taste, but that's to be expected in a winter 2019 class, especially since a 5 unit chem class is being jampacked into 4 weeks. Be on top of your work, ask questions, and you'll be fine.
I took chem211 & 212 w/ professor Hajjawi. Overall, he is a great lecturer. However, he talks a little too fast sometimes & it's hard to catch on to what he is saying. He can get pretty intimidating but I think it's because he cares about his students, wants them to take chemistry seriously, & pass (or better yet, get a good grade in) his class
Incredibly smart and had a very structured and organized class. I was nervous about taking a chemistry class over the winter but he has you practice so much that it starts to become easy. Its very clear that he cares and wants his students to strive for As. His class made the subject very understandable and Id definitely recommend him.
No, just NO. Avoid him.
Professor Hajjawi has a good temperament and is fairly nice. He can be unreasonable with assignments and he has forgotten what it is like to be a student. But he teaches in a very straight forward manner and does not make O chem harder than it already is, he challenges you and wants you to succeed. He is good, you will be fine. Study,Study,Study
Avoid at all costs. His exam questions are significantly harder than anything he will go over in class. Even the lab instructor who is a PhD is stumped by some of his questions. Do not rely on his practice exams, they are much easier than the real test.
He is a tough professor and very strict. He picks the hardest test questions. Chem 212 is already a stressful enough but he makes it worse. Seems like he doesn't care if you're struggling. He'll try to find a way to belittle you. Once on a test the average was 30% and he didn't curve. Everyone seemed to be struggling in the class. Try to avoid him.
Professor Hajjawi is one of the most organized and fair professors I took in Valley. He has designed his course in such a way that you have to study every day rather than before the test comes up. Take good notes because it will be your source to study for the tests. He takes his class very seriously. Go to his office hours, they are super helpful.
His exams are way harder than his lecture examples the averages were about 52% in the exams. Also, he doesn't like to answer questions. The lectures are very fast paced so I you mostly learn in the class I do not recommend him. The labs were ok.
worst ochem professor ever! if you are transferring to a UC or taking ochem for medical or dental school do yourself a favor and stay away from him. he can totally destroy your future. he is a very tough grader and he has no idea how to teach.
STAY AWAY FROM HIM! doesn't matter how much you study he is a tough grader and even if you do well on the exam he takes points off from your lab reports and other things. tests are way different than his lectures.
avoid him. the worst ochem professor ever! he is also very rude and disrespectful. usually, 90% of the class drop and the class average is C.
He is good professor! Just take good notes and study them everyday and not just before the exam. It's the content of organic chemistry that is hard but he does explain it very clearly in his notes. The spider webs will be your best friend!
Very very hard course. His class for very advanced level students. Weekly quizzes hard like exams. You have to buy 2 books and molecular set.
Fun and challenging class. He's straightforward about his coursework. No curve. Lectures are interesting and he makes sure that you're engaged/participating there. Lab quizzes were tougher than expected, BUT it'd prep you for exams. Exams were standard with a few curveball Q's. He was super helpful in office hours, you just gotta put in the work.
I took his chem class in summer and found him to be very direct. I liked his style of teaching. He tried to avoid topics that were not necessary to keep us on track for the info we needed to know. I found the final to be slightly different from what we learned in class and I read the book. The other tests were very similar to his practice exams.
I didn't need the book. Gives lots of practice. Study, if you are not good at math you need to study more. Honestly not a hard class, final was the hardest of all exams but I had a high A so it didn't matter. Make sure you do the HW and most of the extra credit it helped guarantee my A. For summer it may seem fast but he couldn't go any slower.
Doctor Hajjawi is a very strict professor but you can learn a lot from him if you're really a serious student. He is very organized and want you to you work hard and learn the materials. Both Lecture and Lab are very good. Not an easy "A" but if you're a hard worker then you will make it. I took his class for summer and I got "A".
I will never take a science class during the short semester ever again. It doesn't matter how good the professor is, taking a science course during the summer or winter is just stupid. There are special people who can do it and a get an A, but there are also special people who can do back flips. I'm not one of them. He is a brilliant professor.
took his intro to chem class in the summer. i'd say if you were new to the material, it would be a lot. i still remember a lot of stuff from high school so it was more like review for me. a lot of homework that tends to be frustrating but he will help out if you reach out to him. mc exams, around 25-30 questions each. 50 question final
He want to learn organic chem well to be ready for competitive exams like MCAT take him but you should know that organic chemistry is not an easy A course . you should study every day .
Great professor. He teaches very well. Takes out unnecessary information. Class isn't easy since Ochem isn't an easy subject, but if you study and attend lecture you will do well. His tests are half mc and half short answer which is nice. Going to OH is difficult since it's early in the morning, but he answers questions thoroughly via email.
Professor Amer Hajjawi is very knowledgeable about the subject, inspiring and accessible during the lecture, lab and office hours. Like all chemists, he has a good sense of humor. Nevertheless, his exams are difficult, and if you want to succeed in his course, be ready to spend tremendous time outside of the class reading book and solving problems.
At his request he wants us to rate him. Well, OCHEM in general is hard so youre teaching yourself imo. Things were clearer consulting outside resources and tried to connect what he was saying. Keep doin the older tests and problem solving repeatedly and learn why you get the questions wrong and youll be fine.
study with the practice quizzes and dissect it as much as you can. Don't bother studying for his exams off of the hw or problem solving. a huge waste of time. I suggest watching the organic chem tutor and chads videos for help since his lectures arent the best. dont take it personally when he starts to lecture in class about people needing to drop.
Avoid him, I dropped after 3 classes. Went to LATTC for ochem and the professors were very helpful and kind, got an A and understand the material. This guy is just beyond and doesnt care. Good luck if you take him, go to lattc, WAY BETTER PROFS
Professor Hajjawi is very organized in terms of his class structure. He gives you all the resources you need (lecture slides, past exams, problems solving handouts, online homework) no need to search around. All the resources are identical of what you can expect on exams. Lots of ExtraCred opportunities. Couldnt have asked for a better ochem prof!
Getting an A is tough, but doable with the extra credit from homework and exam corrections. You'll get a great intro. to every chapter, but you really have to read the book to understand the bigger picture. The lab quizzes are hard to study for, but his notes help. You'll get plenty of practice tests and quizzes to prep. for each exam.
Orgo itself is a difficult course regardless of your gen chem background. Be prepared to read and dont waste time on material from outside sources. Weekly quizzes which were difficult but they really prepare you for the final and exams *Hint hint*. know why you got quiz questions wrong and learn how to not make that mistake (1/2)
(2/2) He also gives all the materials you need to pass the class with an A. Lab quizzes were difficult; study the prelab notes and go to tutoring if you dont understand. Exam 2 was the most difficult but 1/3 are pretty straightforward. people make this class seem like its the most difficult- just study and dont cram before exams! DO ALL EC HW!!
O-Chem is not easy. You can't just show up to and get the grade you want. You have to put in the time. Make sure you never miss a homework assignment, take advantage of the extra credit opportunities. His office hours are kind of hard to work with but see the tutors for help. Be warned that the practice exams are not always like the real exam.
-Teaches according to the reaction of the students. If class is quiet, he'll quickly move along. If Class asks questions, will slow down and go over material in detail, so ask questions -prioritizes the logic and rationale over proper terminology. So dont be afraid to sound stupid by calling terms "the thingy" -responds to emails quickly
Organic Chemistry is a hard in general. Professor Hajjawi is a very knowledgeable man who is passionate about the subject. Very clear and specific of what he expects from his students, very nice during office hours. Gives practice exams to prep for lecture exams, and his final is very similar to his quizzes. Quizzes are harder than exams so study!
Hard class but he is very clear and gives great lectures. He offered extra credit he points and his quizzes are fully only on what he reviews no hidden surprises. He is very straight forward and professional
Organic chemistry is a hard subject in general. It's even harder when you have a professor who: doesn't like answering questions, condescendingly resents you when you don't understand the material and encourages you to drop the class when you're struggling instead of working with you. 3 exams, 2 lab quizzes, homework is online.
He rushes through the material like if everyone already knows the subject. Expect to teach yourself a lot of the material. I wish he would've slowed down a bit to explain the subject more thoroughly but what can you do when everyone acts like a know it all.
I took Chem 211 with Dr. Hajjawi and never second guessed myself or what I was learning. He lectured concisely and was always willing to help during office hours. After transitioning online, everything done is self taught, students are just told which lecture slides must be known for exams. It's very hard with little guidance.
Online HW?Exams?Quizzes? Contained material based on future chapters so good luck. He also never even taught once the pandemic hit. The level of difficulty on the exams also truly questions your knowledge in the material. So if you don't study, and I mean STUDY each concept, you'll be lucky to get a low B. I would advice stay ahead/dont get behind.
The guy knows what he's talking about, but he's horrible at trying to teach it. He plows through the lectures and teaches in a way that makes everything seem difficult. Only take him if you have a super light schedule AND if you have a high knowledge in chemistry. STUDY! He won't let you get away with anything. Good luck.
He is knowledgable but is a poor teacher. His lectures are minimally organized & he rushes through the information. Taking quality notes is difficult, so be prepared to rewrite EVERYTHING. Once the pandemic began, he refused to lecture. Be prepared to teach yourself OChem or pay for tutoring. Stay away if you need to know OChem for your career
taking him online currently and its tough. He doesn't take questions. There's a lot of work to be done. He only shows minimal work. lectures are hard to understand
Professor is direct. He lectures fairly briskly but gives enough time for questions. He responds to all emails and gives useful critique outside of lecture hours. He may be a bit dry on some of the content but that is because there are a lot of revisited components from previous classes. He conveys the important concepts thoroughly and completely.
Professor was very organized this fall 2020. His was available after before lecture for office hours and available over email. Lectures were well explained. I would definetly take him again.
PROS: Professor Hajjawi is incredibly knowledgeable. Unlike other professors, he will genuinely be able to answer any question you ask him. You can tell he is a professional. CONS: On exams and quizzes, there will sometimes be questions that you won't know how to answer. You will always feel rushed on quizzes. Time pressure is a huge factor.
Prof. Hajj will give you all the material needed to pass his class, but do not expect it to be a walk in the park. Ochem II is a hard class for most, so you need to find time to study. The quizzes are pretty tough but they give you a good idea of what the exam will be like. IMO he did great for his first year at Cerritos and during a pandemic too.
I would say that Dr. Hajjawi certainly makes you work for the grade. The effort you put into the course is what you get out of it. The tests are very lecture heavy but they aren't free questions/points either. The questions are based off if you understand the lecture material or not. Also the quizzes are fast paced(ie 15-20 questions in 15 minute)
Please avoid taking him, just take my advice. Not worth the stress or mental toll, there are better professors out there that actually care about their students.
Quizzes are brutal and very difficult to study for. Lectures are pre-recorded and FAST. Even the guy with a masters in chemistry didn't get an A. Avoid.
he teaches O-Chem, in itself, a really hard class. Therefore, when taking his class, he will treat you with the level your expected to be at, therefore, self-study is highly encouraged, though he does not say this. I respect him as an educator, but his classes are definitely no joke.
Organic Chem. is a difficult course but you will not regret taking it with Dr Hajjawi. He is well-versed in the subject and makes himself available to answer students quickly via email. He is a serious professor ready to teach serious students, definitely helped the class reach our objectives. Glad I took Org Chem with him.
This course is tough so be sure to put in a lot of work. Especially go over lecture material and work out problems he provides.
Professor Hajjawi is a knowledgeable professor. The quizzes are harder than the actual exam but since they are all multiple choice it makes things easier. he has plenty of office hours and is always available for questions. You have to keep in mind that ochem might be one of the hardest courses you ever have to pass! He is caring.
Im not going to lie, organic chem is hard no matter who teaches. HOWEVER, I can walk away saying I truly understood what I was doing and walked out of exams confidently. So be prepared to work very hard, but stick it through. Hes VERY clear on expectations but for good reason. I scored an A, as well as many peers. 10/10 recommend this professor!
You should be ready for self studying, His stuff like lecture recording, lecture PowerPoints, and review sheets are really helpful, but being really good in the quizzes and exam is depend on how much you practiced. He is available in the office hours, he curves fairly.
He plays prerecorded videos for lecture so they were personally to fast for me to keep up with. If you're an auditory learner his lectures would be a great fit, or if you have time to re-watch lectures to take notes. If you go to office hours he can be helpful, but really it's a dense course and you need to do a lot of the learning yourself.
The class itself is a lot of work and will be overwhelming. However, you should stick it out till the end and try your best. The hardest part was being online for this class, but if you have network of classmates helping each other for learning the material you will be able to get through.
Dr. Hajjawi was clear with instructions and kept lectures as short as possible for us to focus on only what we were required to learn. He was always on point and tried his best to make sure that we understood when we asked him questions. I appreciated his teaching style. If you diligently practice problems, you will do well in this class.
It's organic chemistry, you're going to work for it. Do the extra credit on homeworks, every point is worth it. Go to office hours if you can, study 3 hours per day, and do well on labs.
Get a whiteboard, orgo is not an easy subject but it is a fun subject. Hajjawai cares a lot for his students. He provides many outside resources and really wants you to understand and succeed. Make lots of colorful flashcards, and try to make it fun. Really use the outside video sources they are very helpful.
Overall a very unpleasant person and useless lab instructor, does not hesitate to put you on the spot even if he knows you're having trouble. Attending his workshops are a waste of time, even though they're mandatory (and 3 hours long might I add).
As a science major, I've heard how hard O Chem is - Pro. Hajjawi makes getting an A possible. He gives you the opportunity for extra credit(survey & extra credit quiz) and curves at the end of the semester. Don't give up if you get bad grades (F's) on some quizzes, just study hard for the tests and the final. I am taking O Chem 2 with him next sem.
He is a terrible teacher, with a bad attitude! He treats you like you are wasting his time when you ask him questions during his office hours. My GPA is 4.0 and I love chemistry. I ended up dropping his class with a W! Please don't take Ochem with him, if you can. He doesn't give enough time for the exam and you'll end up losing points easily.
Organic chemistry is not an easy subject, however, Hajjawi is brilliant. He knows everything about OCHEM and if you email him questions he always responds quickly. If you go to his office hours, it is helpful, he really wants his students to understand and be as passionate about OCHEM as he is. Very open to student input about the class structure.
Hard class. Nice guy, but lots of work and lectures are mandatory.
Very caring and helps out when you need more time for labs or quizzes. Everything is proctored and you have lab reports due every week. If you do all your work and study you will succeed.
I took Dr. Hajjawi during this Spring 2022 semester and cannot express how grateful I am for his wonderful lectures and his caring character. He is genius and I highly recommend taking his courses. The tests are fair and if you practice the homework assignments, you will be 100% ready to take his exams.
Professor Hajjawi is an amazing and extremely knowledgeable professor. He has prerecorded videos on each topic and they are so detailed, comprehensive that make you love organic chemistry. He answers questions in a timely matter. He really cares about his students. I am thankful for all the knowledge that prof. Hajjawi has given to me!!
The course material itself is not too difficult, but you will suffer if you are not good at teaching yourself. This professor literally does not want to help you. When you ask questions, all he would say is "watch the lecture recordings". Also, he is not lenient with technical difficulties and he is unprofessional when he responds to you.
Overall I liked his classes. All you have to do is watch his lecture videos, study it and take the exams which are not hard.
AVOID AVOID AVOID!!! This has to be one of the most difficult to work with professor ever. He clearly doesn't care about teaching or his students success but is an ORGANIC CHEMISTRY professor??? Had to drop with a W because that is better than an F.
In was the worst experience in my whole academic journey and I was top student in the class. never missed any class or assignments. I believe everyone in the same class has the same issue with him. I just waste my time and energy the whole semester. I would never recommend him.
I took Chem 211 with Professor Amer Hajjawi and it was a very frustrating experience. The workload was heavy, the exams were difficult, and the professor was unapproachable. I found the course material confusing and the lack of support only added to the stress. I would not recommend this class. He had different issues with each one of students.
Despite being a diligent student who attended every class and submitted all assignments on time, I received a bad grade in CHEM211 with professor Hajjawi. He provided little guidance and feedback, and the exams were overly difficult. Not a good responder in emails at all and most of the time it was inappropriate. I would not recommend to anyone.
How unluck I was that I got class with Professor Hajjawi. Just because my other classes would interfere, I had to take the class. I passed but it was a hell. I believe he has mental issues. he was very rude and disrespectful to all class. would never recommend unless you want to make your life hell, then go trough this. Will complain to department
I took Chem 211 with Prof. Hajjawi and it was a nightmare. He was unprofessional and often rude to students. They provided little support and guidance throughout the course. Despite being a good student, I received a poor grade due to the overly difficult exams and lack of feedback. I would strongly advise against taking any course with Him.
Prof. Hajjawi was consistently disrespectful to all students, often accusing us of cheating without any evidence. This created a stressful environment that negatively impacted the entire class, leading to poor test performance. Despite no one cheating, he continued to behave in this manner, causing many students to feel anxious and demoralized.
I took Chem 211 with Prof. Hajjawi and it was a terrible experience. He was often disrespectful and made inappropriate comments, such as questioning students about their religion or country of origin. They also accused students of cheating without any evidence, creating a tense and nervous atmosphere in the classroom. Do not recommend at all.
He had serious trust issues with students, making unfounded accusations of cheating and demanding students to redo tests in front of them. This was frustrating, as I worked hard to earn a good grade but was still placed under a microscope and accused of cheating. His behavior created a stressful and unfair learning environment for everyone.
Professor Hajjawi made lots of course resources available for us which was really helpful. You must watch his lectures and practice practice practice in order to succeed. Hard exams but fair and similar to class homework and quizzes.
Be ready for a tough class. Professor Hajjawi knows his stuff and teaches well. Watch his lectures and take lots of notes. The class is very demanding but his lectures and problem sets help you be prepared for assessments.
You will have to work hard to earn your grade. Dr. Hajjawi offers extra credit and you should not skip a single class meeting. His lectures and discussion sessions are very useful. He definitely cares about his students and wants them to learn. He is very respectful and I highly recommend him.
Organic is very demanding and be ready to spend long hours. Dr. Hajjawi was helpful giving us resources and his own lecture recordings. The class overall was fine and I highly recommend taking this instructor.
I don't understand how this instructor can teach material that he doesn't cover in his lectures. He finds it necessary to remind us to watch his lecture videos when we don't do well in exams. When the next exam rolls around, the same issue occurs, students are evaluated on difficult questions that their instructor didn't go over in any lecture.
Professor Hajjawi provides extra credit and responds promptly to emails, but a constant suspicion of cheating, excessive proctoring, delayed grades, and a grading curve shortfall may negatively impact your grade. Uneasy communication, marked by instances of perceived aggression, like when he suspected me of taking pictures of the test. -_-
Dr. Hajjawi is awesome! I took CHEM051 during Winter 2024 (online class). He is knowledgeable and knows exactly what to teach for this specific course. He is patient in answering questions and solving problems. He cares for his students. He provides exam handout that will help you during unit exams. Highly recommended! -International Student, 41
There was a quiz every day of class. The teacher refused to give lectures for the entire semester, telling the students to watch his uploaded unclear lectures. The homework covered things outside of lectures, as going to office hours led to more confusion. The exam medians were low, and he refused to improve his teaching. Instead blaming the class.
WORST PROFESSOR EVER! AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Nothing graded until end of semester. Does not lecture in class, tells students to watch his awful video lectures. Test averages were D's & F's. HW does not match with test content. Has a required test average. If you pass, but do not have the required average, you will fail the course. DO NOT TAKE.
Don't expect much help from this professor. He doesn't teach in class and expects you to watch his lectures online (this was not an online class). Any time I would ask a question he would either tell me to rewatch the video or shame me about not remembering something from OChem 211. Both of these were incredibly demotivating. Avoid him if you can.
Great professor, He cares a lot about what he teaches and simplifies it as much as possible. BE PREPARED TO WATCH LECTURES IF ONLINE! If you don't, you're destined to fail the class. My failure was that I didn't watch the lectures until the very last minute. DO NOT DO THAT! Other then that, cool professor. also, don't forget about stick figs!
hajjawi is not a bad person, but his class was hell on earth for me. maybe I was under-prepared cause I know a few students that did well. however, I was struggling from day 1. I had a tutor and went to office hours when I could. by the middle of the semester, I had a 30% and dropped. If you can dedicate a LOT of time, I would say try his class.
Professor Hajjawi is very organized in terms of his class structure. He gives you all the resources you need (lecture slides, past exams, problems solving handouts, online homework) no need to search around. Lots of Extra Cred opportunities. Couldn't have asked for a better ochem prof!
Professor wants his students to succeed and definitely not drop the class. He is a very fair grader and helps out with extra credit when he sees the class is struggling. He wants you to learn to be ready for competitive exams like MCAT. Take him but you should know that organic chemistry is not an easy A course. Be ready to study every day.
if you want to do well on the MCAT or in any other higher level class, this class is standard and Dr. Hajawi is a very nice professor who wants to see his students succeed, not just in this course but also in life. People writing poor reviews have no idea how to study and will not be ready to take any other class above 100 level.
Organic is not an easy subject, but it is a fun one. Hajjawi cares a lot for his students. He provides many resources and really wants you to understand and succeed. Make lots of colorful flashcards, do the extra credit, every point is worth it and try to make it fun. Go to office hours and study 3 hours per day.
Fun and challenging class. He's straightforward about his coursework. Quizzes are curved. Lectures are interesting and he makes sure that you're taking notes. Lecture quizzes were tougher than expected, BUT it'd prep you for exams. Exams were standard with a few curveball Q's. He was super helpful in office hours, you just need to put in the work.
Professor Hajjawi is one of the most organized and fair professors I took in Valley. He has designed his course in such a way that you have to study every day rather than before the test comes up. Take good notes because it will be your source to study for the tests. He takes his class very seriously. Go to his office hours, He is super helpful.
As a science major, I've heard how hard OChem is - Pro. Hajjawi makes getting an A possible. He gives you the opportunity for extra credit and curves at the end of the semester. Don't give up if you get bad grades (F's) on some quizzes, just study hard for the tests and the final.
While the material was challenging, I found Unstuck study helpful for practice and preparation. Lectures were valuable, but the professor's demeanor can be hit-or-miss. Overall, a tough but manageable course.
He can make the pre-recorded lectures as long as he wants, but instead he speeds through several topics in 20 min, glossing over everything. Lectures during the lab time. Confusing Canvas modules with excessive readings/videos and vague, minimal instruction assignments. Teaches new concepts as if students already know material. Overall unhelpful.
Professor Hajjawi is very organized and fair. He made all class resources available to students on Canvas. Take good notes and study daily not weekly. He assigns extra-credit as well.
He took time to do discussions for the chapter we were on even though lecture was online, answered any question you had. Overall it's a tough class due to the material but if you have a strong understanding from 211 you should be good to go.
Hajjawi is a very organized and clear professor (mon- lecture/practice, wed - lab). As long as you do your part each week, you'll likely do well on the exams. He provides extra credit & curves. Overall, it was easier than I expected & I recommend him. Make sure to watch the pre-recorded lectures before class!! His class preps you for the mcat too.
Online lectures were too short, and in class "lectures" were disorganized. Syllabus says he can change grading scale, said he would, never did even when 4/7 people in my class were failing. Assigned 60 question extra credits, for only 5 points each. Didn't go over enough practice problems. He was nice but didn't get that our class was struggling.
Overall a good class. Organized lectures, good lab facilities, and supportive professor. Would recommend.
Organic 2 felt easier than organic 1 thanks to Dr. Hajjawi's Chem 211. His class laid a solid foundation that made the transition to 212 smoother for me, though some classmates who came from other instructors seemed to struggle early on. The class is small and easy to stay on top of the material once you settle into the weekly routine
Good class, nice labs. Better than my university. Professor is helpful when needed.
I did better than I thought I would thanks to the curve and extra credit. Class was structured labs were cool and prof Hajjawi was helpful. Glad I took it before transferring.
Was consistent in the lectures and taught it well. Uses a testing format that does open your camera to confirm their isn't cheating. Very difficult class but it is chemistry so not surprising. Does allow late work and reopens class material when you ask. Doesn't really answer any concerns you have or need for advice. Wouldn't take his class again.
Professor Hajjawi wants his students to succeed and definitely be ready for next class and MCAT exam. He helps out with extra credit on assessments. He provides lots of resources including his own lecture recordings. Take him but you should know that organic chemistry is not an easy A course. Study three hours every day.
Great teacher who actually helped me understand chemistry for the first time, but his tests are extremely unforgiving. Each question is worth 3.5 points, so even a few mistakes can destroy your grade. I missed 8 on an almost 30-question test and failed. Good person, tough grader, not for slackers. Expect a near-perfect grasp of every topic.
