I took her 8 weeks class and one of the highlight of each class was the UCLA professor's lecture presented in the form of video. Her test is based majority on the study guide, so as long as you studied, you're in good shape.

If you can, do NOT take her class. You can't understand a word she says, there is no variety in her lectures, she reads them from a hand written folder of crap!! But as long as you do the study guide, you're ok.

Very hard to understand at times. Especially when she says the name of a place you've never heard of. The tests are basically just the study guide, but when you can't find them and have to ask her she snaps at you in front of the class.

This lady lectures from handwritten notes, shows extremely outdated videos, and is always in a very bad mood. You won't be able to understand a WORD that comes out of her freaking mouth. Basically, she is the MOST UNDELIGHTFUL person I have ever met.

She's a great professor! You can understand her much better if you sit in front! I got a B in both classes without having to buy the book--she's that good. And i honestly studied only 1 night for both classes--both times before the final--easy finals too!

Ok....horrible teacher. It's not so much that she's an idiot, because she's not. She knows pretty well on her subject, it's just that she's Ethiopian and has a horrible accent and you can't understand or pay attention to anything she says...and she is freakin mean...seriously. It's not just her thick accent, she's all over the place! Difficult to take notes because she repeats only her political opinions and not the things she tells you will be on the test, very unorganized. If you can get someone else, I think you should.

She is a good teacher and has interesting views (because she isnt originally from the US). She is a little hard to understand but after a few days maybe weeks you get what she is saying, she is helpful you may just ask her to repeat a few times.

Seriously, it's just memorization. You have to study, that's the only way you can remember it later. She gives you a study guide which is nearly identical to the test & lets you ask questions about it beforehand. She does have an accent so you have to listen. If you think this is hard, drop out!

The class is memorization, pretty easy, but only if you can understand the words that are coming out of her mouth. It's hard to tell if she's yelling at you or just asking a question. Her accent is incredibly thick, but the work is easy.

Difficult class due to inablity to understand anything that comes out of her mouth. Accent so thick had to buy the book and study longer than needed to pass tests. Easy if you can understand the instructor, difficult if you can't. Advise taking a better instructor.

She gives you study guide packets. about 70%of the stuff from the packet is on the test.The study guides are a pain. Cant understand 1/2the stuff she says plus she never writes anything down so you practically have to write down every thing she says.When you ask her a question you never know if shes mad at you or just answering the question.

She is very inconsistent with her tests and grading. Each test had a different format which made it difficult to prepare. She does have an accent which at times made it hard to understand what she was saying. She tried to help this by writing key words on the board, but many times she spelled them wrong. Also boring. Otherwise, it's an easy 'B'.

she spoke way too fast and referenced page numbers that before we all found it she was on to something else and was giving a new page number... thick accents are fine most of my family has them but when you are teacing with one you should realize it and slow down a little and not get upset when students ask you to clarify

VERY hard to understand both verbally and written. She asks ?'s on test(s) that are not on her study guides. She is very opinionated about various areas of the world inparticular Europe. Not satisfied at all but needed the class last summer as a requirement to transfer. Would not recommend to fellow OCC students.

Great teacher, knows her stuff. She appears very strict, but she is actually really funny and witty. Take good notes, read, ask her to repeat herself if you don't understand her accent (she has no problem clarifying herself). Her tests are pretty easy, but some of the questions she doesn't cover in class. Skim the text and you'll be fine.

I was very weary of her at first. Her accent was difficult to get past and she didn't seem very nice. After the first few classes, she definitely showed her fun, sarcastic personality and has since become one of my most favorite instructors. The class is easy, just do the study guide for tests and you'll be fine! =D

She is a good professor. Maybe not the most interesting... but she is good. She is funny at times, and really knows her history. Yes, she has a rough accent, but she will repeat anything she says. Most of the time, you just watch movies. The tests are reasonable, and you get a study guide. It's hard to fail.

Honestly, one of the hardest classes I have ever taken. She is a very nice lady but her lectures are very unorganized (no handouts or overheads). Grade based on 3 tests. Offers a little extra credit (DO IT!). You'll need it because her tests are the hardest I have ever taken; there is very little relevance to her lectures.

Her accent is thick but if you can get through that you realize that this teacher knows what she is talking about. Her tests are easy, she has no Homework, and make sure to miss 3 days of class because you don't need to go to the lectures to pass the test just review the study guide well...Easiest A I have ever gotten.

She is so knowledgeable about everything and has a great outlook on life! She is really sarcastic which makes the class entertaining. There are only three exams (no final) that go to your grade, no homework or way of getting any other points so be sure to read the book, her lectures are informative but not always relevent to the test.

The tests are hard but can be super easy if you study the study guide and for the essay just write a lot and she's happy. I think its worth for sure. she's tight

Professor Adan is AMAZING! All I had to do in her class was write down everything she said, sans jokes, and I was set for the tests. She WILL tell you weather your answer is write or not on the studyguide if you don't push her on it. She also goes over her studyguides with the class if there were many that were not clear.

Prof. Adan is amazing. Lectures are entertaining and very helpful. She gives a study guide for all of her tests, so you should have no problem passing. She's hilarious and I looked forward to her class - she makes history fun! I didn't study hard and I got an A.

even though i got an A from this class i thought she was not a good teacher. Her lectures may have been full of energy but i couldnt understand much of what she was saying so it made taking notes tedious. There's really nothing I can say about her that hasn't already been said. If you want to take any easy class that you will be bored out of your mind in and learn nothing then take her. She doesn't know English well enough to teach. She doesn't know common english phrases and takes everything literally. She is pretty bad, but an easy A.

I missed a few classes and still managed to get a B but she is pretty strict on the fact that you are there every day. You sign yourself in on a sheet that is passed around so if you make buddies with your neighbor you can miss. SUPER HARD TO UNDERSTAND. would not recommend her. I did not learn anything and her tests are very hard.

aside from her lectures being extremely boring, i could not understand her. all of her questions come from her text. she gives 4-5pg of whats going to be on the test when there is only 40questions, more than half of whats on the study guide is not in the text and when you ask a question she tries to make students feel dumb for not understanding.

I had read the reviews here first, so I thought I could understand her accent, but I was wrong. The 1st few weeks were tough. This class is mostly lecture. No powerpoint, and very few videos. You are only graded on your 3 tests! It's probably an easy C but a hard A.

I really really REALLY stress that her lectures are so so boring. This lady cannot teach worth anything. The lectures have nothing to do with the book at all. FAIL teacher!

Professor Adan is a great teacher. I really enjoyed having her! The class is pretty straight forward; she teaches you about the countries and you're taking notes during the lecture. There's three tests during the semester and she gives study guides for each of the tests. She does have an accent, but you get used to it after the first couple weeks.

This class is very easy, but she's a pretty bad teacher. She will not let petitioners in, is rude and yelled at students the first day of class, and gives certain times in history more emphasis than others (which seems to do with her personal interest in the topic). It's not hard to pass the class, but her attitude will wear on you after a while.

Not an easy class, but I really learned a lot! The reading was very slow but she covered everything in lecture so don't feel too bad if you just scan the chapters! I loved her but I have to agree that she is very difficult to understand sometimes. I'm glad I took the class!!!

She has a thick accent, but wasn't difficult to get used to. She might seem a little abrupt to some students. She expects college level behavior from college students. Very reasonable.

Thick accent but you get used to it. Doesn't teach half the stuff on the test, but she gives you study guides and gives you all the answers so make sure you ask questions and you will definitely get an A on the tests.

Awsome teacher for serious students. She teaches with a passion for Geography. You will do well if you have a passion for learng. She adds interesting facts you won't find in the text that brings the Geography experience alive.

Good professor who is passionate about her field. Her accent is not as thick as others implied - she even writes out words she may have mispronounced. Must read the text for better understanding. She will argue back with you for the purpose of an intelligence-stimulating debate, and her class is certainly interesting.

Loved this professor. I always kept quiet in class but she always allowed me to take tests before or after the actual test date due to my crazy schedule. Very abrupt, but absolutely hilarious. I recommend anyone wanting to take Geography take it with this Amina Adan. I learned so much, and enjoyed myself in this class.

Easy class, got an A. She gives 3 Tests only and a ten point extra credit. Test is basically on the notes and study guides she gives. Sometimes questions on the test are not on the lecture notes, but still it's and easy A if you study.

You might find her rude in the beginning but she's actually funny! She picks on slackers and students who usually come late! Three tests in total, study guides and take good notes then you'll ace this class! Btw, she has strong accent; it took me a while to get used to it

Good teacher and good class. It was very fun to take. Easy stuff and Amina has a great personality that made me look forward to coming to class everyday. Makes Geo fun. I highly recomend this teacher.

Good professor, easy class but not an easy A. Her accent will be hard to understand only for the first couple weeks. Always has interesting stories to tell. Gives out study guides one week before the test. Really nice lady, generous on grading. Willing to give you a couple extra points for an A at the end of the semester.

She's a nice teacher and smart but the class is boring. Her study guides are only like 75% of the test the rest is from her lecture. Just take good notes and you'll be fine.

If you have the chance to take another professor (especially during the summer semester) then do it! She is very rude, incomprehensible with her thick accent, doesn't like to help students with anything, and her study guides don't even help at all with the tests. Good luck if you take her class...

I took her for history 175 and geography 100 and trust me if you can get another teacher go for it. Her classes are easy but they are extremely boring. She is also hard to understand.

Easy B but if you want an A you'll have to work for it. Study guides account for 75% of the test. Gives about 3 map test, which are all easy 100%s. Gives one extra credit opportunity worth about 10 pts. Lectures are boring but oh well. Good luck.

Not very helpful at all! Hard class because she doesnt teach anything useful pretty much you have to teach yourself the entire thing. Very very specific tests, study guide very broad barely applies to exams. I received an 80 and that was the highest on one of her exams. Be ware!!

Do the study guides, and you'll pull a B in the class. Pretty hard to get the A though. I ended up getting 86, 82, and 82 on the three tests. Be sure to read the textbook; you'll need to to fill in the study guides.

Lectures are hard to understand with her thick accent and mumbling. She's reasonable with tests though. She gives you study guides with fill in the blanks and specific questions and goes over 75% of it a week before the test. BUT, the class only has 3 tests for your grade, so read just in case and don't screw up!

Her grading: 70% study guide, 20% in book reading, 10% map. Her lectures are useless. 3 exams and 2-3 map quizzes were given, last 2 exams were open book. She doesn't do blackboard so CHECK your grades. She made a mistake on my grade, she calculated it to an F when it was suppose to be a C. Almost walked away with an F.

Professor Adan is an amazing instructor. If you put in the effort to take her up on the help and office hours that she offers, there's no reason you should do poorly in this course. Even if history isn't your thing, If you're wanting to expand your world view and outlook on people, nations or behaviors, this is the class to sign up for.

I took this class during the summer and it was of the easier classes I've taken. I went in with a basic knowledge of geography and I came out feeling like I had a real grasp on the world. She has a thick accent, but its quick to pick up on. Overall a great teacher with a lot of passion for her subject.

The study guide for the second test was so phenominally misleading as to the tests actual content that it amounts to outright sabotague. 1/3rd of your grade rides on that test. I have no idea how to study for the final test now as the first study guide was spot on and the second is nearly 80 percent irrelevant. Not taught by an English speaker

Her class is super easy, she will give a study guide a week before the test, and you should write the notes to get an A. Don't miss her class. You should buy the text book because you will use most of the time. She will help you to get an A, also she give 2-3 map quizzes which are super easy. Her exams are 70 multiple questions based on the guide.

Textbook is not necessary, her tests is based on her notes/study guide, she has an accent but it's still decipherable. Her tests are 70 multiple choice+30 map, and her final is 100 multiple choice. She is also a very nice grader. My friend got 255/300, and she gave him an A for some reason. She also allows one EC opportunity in the semester.

This class is difficult because you have to teach it to yourself. look at her study guide and memorize every little bit about every possible aspect of the question. Thats the only way to excel. Shes a very dedicated teacher and loves learning which is good but it also makes her teaching a little unorganized.

Professor Amina is amazing.. As long you are in class for lecture there is a guarantee that you will pass the class... I love the way she give lectures.. She lectures from point to point instead of jumping around subjects... She is an amazing teacher.

This teacher is pretty easy because she give study guides that answer MOST test questions. Although there are some test questions that was never taught. I earned a legit A but heard people got their final grades curve. I think she curve base off class overall performance. This class is more oriented towards history and not geography.

She has a very thick accent hard to understand, but you get used to it, the class is easy, she is old style teacher and very political!!! more than a geo class is a history political class! no homework no extra credit, not recommended if this class is a core class for you. need to study if you want an A and do the study guide.

Professor Adan has a strong accent, but after being in her class for a while, she becomes much easier to understand. Her study guides cover 75% of the test questions and there are only a few tests in her class. Attendance is mandatory. No homework. She's traveled and lived all over the world and her stories are amusing and interesting.

I've met people from other countries. I even have friends who are. But this professor's accent is SO THICK, you actually have to work to decipher what she's saying. Oh yeah, and the study guides she gives don't cover all of the information on the test. Her lectures are long yet funny. She was nice enough to help if you asked but rarely knows how.

This is by far the hardest time I've had in a history course. I'm an A student and I work hard for my grades. The teacher has a tough time articulating and relating lectures to what's actually on the test. You are completely on your own for this course and she is not willing to talk outside of the class.

Okay look--I have had my fair share of bad professors, but this lady takes the cake. Not only is she extremely difficult to understand, but she mumbles her words and gets frustrated when you ask her to clarify or repeat herself. Like we're sorry we can't understand you and want to pass the exams? Please...I beg you. Avoid this class at all costs.

If you participate, she will respect you. She has a very dry sense of humor, so don't expect boisterous classes. She can be a little harsh if you ask a silly question or give a wrong answer, and you had better be taking comprehensive notes. I enjoyed her class, but I know a lot of people found her intimidating. This isn't really a 'coasting' class.

Professor Amina is one of the best professors. Her lectures are specific and if you are on the class you'll have an A, I guarantee. It's not easy A, you have to learn and also 80% information from study guide will be on the test. Just take notes and listen on the classes. She is very polite if you talk with her friendly. really recommend this class

Professor Adan is a great professor, no assignments, only tests. HOWEVER you have to read the book!!! Professor Adan tests out of the both the book and her lectures! So paying attention and reading are a must! Attendance also is an important factor!!!

P. Adan is an overall good teacher. She teaches the old way and does not use power point. Her lectures are orally so you must pay very close attention when she speaks. She has an accent so I recommend sitting at the front of the class. The Study Guide is 80% of the stuff she puts on the Test. 3 Test and Usually 1 Essay about the subject. READ!

She is a nice lady however, she goes from one topic to another. She is not clear at all, she will go from chapter 2 to 10 back to 7 then to 14 in one conversation. Her study guides are 80% exactly like the test. Even though i got a B, i was so confused the entire semester.

Her class is really boring. All the lectures come from the textbook so you need the book. One thing that bother me was when someone tried to say something or give her feedback, she would get mad! You do get a study guide that helps a lot on the test so that's a plus.

Beware of her study guides. They do not always cover everything on the test. Pay attention in class and take decent notes. She has an accent that can at sometimes be hard to understand. It's clear she's passionate about teaching the subject, but at times she can be a little too passionate and drift off topic. That said, it's a very info heavy class

Took the class for fun and it was pretty interesting until she began mixing up facts and terms. Had to compare her lecture with my textbook and many sources on the internet to make sure I got the facts right, and often she was WRONG -_- Dont bother asking questions; she answers things BUT the question. Dropped the class. Disappointed.

Taking her for Intersession right now. The class is pretty much just her reading the book to us. Taking notes is recommended, but reading the book is a MUST. Her class is basically 3 100 point tests. I sit in the front and I still cant understand her with her thick Italian accent. At least this class is only 4 weeks.

Attendance is mandatory. If you skip class you'll have hard time catching up. It can be extremely hard to understand her accent since it is so strong. The class is very lecture heavy so be prepared to take notes. Not an easy A at all you have to work for your grade. She gives a study guide a few days before the test which are about 80% helpful.

85% of the test content is from the study guide and the rest 15% is from the notes. I wish you all good luck and please do not be affected by all the negativity shared about this professor. Amina Adan is a very genuine professor! To be honest, I think taking notes from her lectures will prove to be very helpful if you aim to get an A.

I learned a lot in this class about the world. She lectures a lot and notes are a must. Tests are your entire grade, there is no homework. Study the notes you take in class and the study guide well if you expect to pass with an A. If you don't study you will fail.

She has the thickest accent I have ever heard on a human being, very difficult to understand and she would lash out when asked to repeat or clarify something. She's intimidating to say the least and has no problem calling students out for dumb things. I would not recommend her if there were other professors available as she just lectures and tests.
