Very cool teacher...understands students and helps them out when they have questions..he takes attendance and its not always interesting but it is a very easy class. You have an easy 2 pg paper for every religion you learn and EVERYONE gets an A on each paper..it basically your opinion..Midterm and Final Exam which are easy...TAKE HIM HE's AWESOME!
I love this class. The teacher is awesome!!!
the only class i felt guilty missing, he is a great professor and makes the subject interesting, easy work, but you learn a lot, take his class!
This was my favourite class this semester. An excellent professor, and he gave us chocolate during the final. What a sweetie!!
Very knowledgeable, very helpful, and very funny. His Religions of the World class was interesting but not too difficult - mostly class lectures, a short paper due every two weeks or so, a short and manageable midterm. The final was more of a second midterm since it covered only the second half of the semester's material.
This class was the easiest and best class that I have ever taken. I never opened the textbook; I just took notes on the lecture outlines and received "A"'s on every one of the assignments. He's an awesome professor and if you have the chance to take him, I highly recommend it. So easy. So fun.
Amir is so nice and so helpful. He knows a lot, isn't biased, and has good canadian sense of humor. If you need a lower div thst requirement take him definitly, you will not regret it!!
Nicest guy ever. Easiest class ever. Subject matter is not great but he makes it interesting at least. Class was cancelled a handful of times. Easy A. Take this class!
Amir is a great professor. His class is intersting and his lectures are inspiring. If thinking your theology teacher is hot is wrong..then im very very guilty!.
I love the teacher and the class. Hussain is amazing. The work load is very light but you still learn a lot. Midterm and Final are brief but still test your knowledge. No need to buy the book. Overall, it's a wonderful class and I'd recommend it to everyone. You're missing out if you don't take this class!
This is my favorite class so far at LMU. He is a great professor, and someone you can talk to about real life stuff.
AWESOME TEACHER! Easy, funny, sweetest guy ever! Not much work, but need to go to class for notes in order to do well on tests and papers! Great all around guy!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
One of the best teachers I've ever had. 5 super easy two page papers, a mid term and a final. You do need to study pretty hard to get an A on the tests, but outside of that an amazing class. Attendance not required, almost no HW, great guy, awesome class.
One of the best teachers! He's so clear and relates everything really well so he's easier to understand the material. He really knows his stuff and is excited about it, so lectures are interesting. He also uses other things besides the books like movies, audio clips, stories, etc to teach which make it really fun and interesting! TAKE HIM!!
He is just amazing. A really wonderful professor, who cares about his students. Take his class!!!
GREAT TEACHER!! he makes everything so clear and interesting. you should definitely try not to miss class because everything he lectures about is valuable and will help you for the final.papers are easy but you actually have to study the material for test. he is very passionate and smart!!!
TAKE THIS CLASS. It is a very cool class that surveys six different religious traditions. Hussain is very open to all ideas and opinions. You do have to read the book to keep up, but the lectures cover much of hte material. There is a lot of discussion so you have to show up once in awhile for participation points. Easy grade. Interesting guy.
Easily the best course I have taken at LMU. I'm a junior, but I never got around to taking my lower division theology requirement until now. I'm so glad I waited. Professor Hussain is just awesome! So cool to have a prof who clearly loves his job. Plus that voice of his...I could just close my eyes and listen to him all day long...
Prof. Hussain is amazing! He is the best teacher I have had at LMU.
He is such a cool and nice guy and the class is pretty easy. As long as you come to class and take notes you're fine. I definitely reccommend him!
This was the best teacher I have had all year. He is amazing. I reccomend taking his class. Must attend lectures to get notes for what ill show up on the test. very helpful - always available to help - very passionate about what he teaches. I pretty much love this man.
Love love LOVED this man. Actually makes LMU worth its ridiculously expensive tuition. Highly recommend for any theology course, core or not.
Best class I ever took. As long as you attend his classes on time, and take notes you'll do great. I very much reccomend this class.
great prof, nice guy, wants you to do well. for the papers he assigns, make sure to go talk to him before and if you can, get him to review a draft. but take his class, its totally possible to get an A just put in some effort ya'know.
The best course I took this semester from my new favorite prof. at LMU. Amazing guy and a really fun class (which I wasn't expecting for a core class). Plus he's just so sexy!
Wonderful teacher, great class.
Great teacher, LOVED the class. Would defiantly recommend taking this course.
I'm a senior, and this was my favorite course at LMU. Professor Hussain, you ROCK!
This was an amazing class, taught by a great professor. I had to try for two semesters to get into this class as it fills up quickly. Was it ever worth the wait!
Great Professor!! So dedicated and knowledgable!!! I was so excited to get in to this class!!! He is a wonerful professor and I think everyone should take his class!! It is very eye opening!
Okay, I pretty much love this man. Professor of the Year at LMU, and my favorite prof!
Great Teacher. cancels a lot of classes though. Very nice and helpful. Laid back teaching style. You will learn a lot. I recommend
Incredibly dedicated teacher. Best professor at LMU, and all the girlz are hot for him.
There are so many reasons why he is professor of the year. But the most important is that he cares about us as students. Amazing, amazing teacher!!
My fav upper division course so far. He's a really great teacher, and makes a controversial subject (Islam) understandable and fun.
one of the greatest professors at LMU. If you have the opportunity to take him, do it! you wont regret it :)
Professor of the year at LMU. 'Nuff Said...
My fave class last year at LMU. Awesome professor. Take him if you can.
If you have to take an upper division Theology Class take this class!! Great teacher, really laid back atmosphere. Your grade consists of a 15 page research project (You have all semester to do it). A small paper based off a short novel and a cumulative final. This is an interesting class with one of the best professors at LMU. Take it.
This was an excellent class, taught by the professor of the year at LMU. He's amazing, and real eazy on the eyes, ladies.
I took this class as my lower division theology core. Didn't know anything about the teacher, only took the course as it looked the most interesting out of the core. It was AMAZING. You can tell when a prof really cares about students, and he does.
He's the best professor at LMU
Excellent professor, plus he has a cute butt
Great teacher and a total bubble butt...
The best class EVER at LMU. This man is a GOD!!!
I took Islam for my upper division theology requirement. Prof. Hussain was amazing. A brilliant man who is oh so sweet.
This man is just sooo SEXY! Is it a sin to be in love with your theology prof?
He is one of the most caring men I have ever met. I think that's what makes him such a great professor, you know he really cares about students. I took world religions with him, loved it, and took the Islam class for my upper division.
Helpful, interesting, and funny
This is my favorite course this semester at LMU. Prof. Hussain is just the nicest man I have ever met.
What a great course. And such a sweet guy. He gave us our mid-term, and brought us chocolate. Never had a prof this nice before.
The most interesting lower division theology class at LMU, and super easy too. Plus, there's just something so sexy about this man!
A little over-rated, but still an amazing professor. He truly is passionate about the subject but sometimes it's easy to lose attention during the lectures. Even if the reflections are an easy A, you do truly have to step it up for the mid-term and final. I would recommend making a study guide to the lecture outline while you do the reading.
He is a great professor, this class was very manageable, but it is very hard to get into. it is very interesting and i loved it
My favorite class this semester. I was seriously thinking of going back home and leaving LMU, but it's Prof. Hussain who keeps me here. Best prof EVER!
This was an amazing class. It took me 2 years to get in, but it was worth it!
this is the most overrated class EVER. I was SO excited when I got into Amir Hussain's theology class- but about 3 weeks into the semester I was overwhelmed with frustration.. I was waiting for him to start being awesome, and it never really happened. I mean, the class isn't hard, but it's just another boring core.
To the student below, if you didn't like the class, why didn't you leave to make room for someone else? This was an amazing class, and I'm so glad I was able to take it as a core.
This was a very cool class, taught by Prof. Amir and Rabbi Chaim. As a Catholic, I loved this course, taught by a Muslim and a Jew.
My fave class so far at LMU. I learned a ton about Islam and Judaism.
I took this class last semester, and I'm graduating in 2 days. Looking back, it was the best class I took at LMU. There are great teachers at this school. What makes Prof. Hussain so special isn't just that he's a great teacher, or knows everything about Islam and Muslims, it's that he really cared about who I was as a student.
This was the course on Muslim/Jewish theology with Prof. Amir and Rabbi Chaim from UCLA. One of my favorite courses EVER at LMU!
It took me two semesters to get into Prof. Hussain's Religions of the World course, and it was worth the wait. I learned as much about my own religion as I did about others. This was an awesome course!
I loved this course. It taught me as much about my own religion as it did about others. Awesome class with a great professor.
Really easy, but he takes attendance at the beginning of each class. Suuuper boring lectures and weird movies/clips are shown. Six 2-page papers on different religions discussed in class, 1 midterm, 1 final. Super easy. Loves BS in your essays/papers.
This class was actually really easy. I hardly ever read. The 2 page papers are really easy. As long as you provide some kind of personal reflection and act like you know what you're talking about, you'll do great. I got A's on every paper. Lecture can get boring. Take as many notes as you can - it pays off when the midterm and final come around.
One of the most passionate professors at LMU. I learned so much from him. I really liked that he didn't assign a topic for the research paper, but let me choose my own. I learned a TON about Islam in this class.
Like many students, I took this class for the lower division theology core. I LOVED this class, especially the use of video and music. As a Catholic, I really liked his fairness about our religion, as well as the others he taught about.
I'm a transfer student, and I took this course for the core theology requirement. I wasn't expecting much, but this was an AMAZING class. The professor was excellent and passionate about teaching.
I learned so much in this course. But what I liked best was the writing assignments. They helped me to become a much better writer.
He is the best professor in the world! He is extremly well read. Highly published and super humble. Reflection papers make you introspect.
I learned as much about myself in this class through the reflection papers as I did about the religions of the world. Amazing course.
I took this class for my lower division theology core. It looked like the most interesting core class, and it was. This was an excellent class, and I learned so much from Prof. Hussain.
He's such a great guy and very respectful of all backgrounds. He knows so much about the world, and is always available to talk to students. He's a really easy grader too, for a 400 level class the work load is very manageable. He really likes in class discussions and hearing all view points on issues. If you want to learn about Islam, take him.
Took this for my upper division theology core. Great class, as the professor was really passionate.
He is a great teacher. Honestly one of the nicest people I have ever met.
Amazing teacher.
For First Year Seminar, there was literally no test or quiz or final. It was just 2 papers and they were fairly simple and easy. He's an extremely interesting professor too! I'd take a class with him again in the future for sure..
Pretty cool guy. He's extremely smart and is the author of the book that is required for the class. Had two assignments all semester, one five page book review and one 13 page research paper, so not bad.
Great professor! No tests, no quizzes, no final, no anything! just a few papers and he made them so simple and clear. He is an amazing guy and is an expert on the subject. He makes the topic super interesting. Take this class!!
This was my first class at LMU, the freshman seminar. I was worried as I had never taken a theology class before. Professor Hussain was awesome. A really great lecturer, who cared about me as a student, and my adjustment to LMU.
Best professor I've had at LMU so far! Super cool person, very interesting lectures and just 2 papers & no final! Definitely would take again.
Probably the best professor I've had so far. He really knew what he was teaching and he was passionate about the material. He wouldn't mind emailing you or talking to you beforeafter class about how you're doing and liking the school and everything. One short essay and one research paper but he was a pretty easy grader! I completely recommend him!
hussain is an awesome professor! he clearly loves the subject he teaches and he makes sure that us students understand everything by connecting the subject to current events. he's also very helpful when it comes to questions about the essays we write. i would definitely take him again!
Amir is an amazing lecturer. The topic of the seminar - Islam in America, is incredibly relevant in today's world, and the way he handled certain topics like Muslim sexuality were especially interesting. He only assigns two papers, and there is little homework. He is very approachable, and cares about you and your adjustment to LMU. Take him!
I'm LOVING this religion and film class. I don't know much about religion, and don't think of myself as a religious person. I took this for my interdisciplinary connections core. It's an amazing class. A lot of work, due to the writing flag, but Prof Hussain is super helpful. My favorite class this semester.
I took this class for core and the flag. Didn't expect a theology class to be so interesting. He did a great job, and had amazing guest speakers in the class.
interdisciplinary connection w/writing flag. We had four 4 pages papers that were reflections on the 4 parts of the textbook then one 12-15 page research paper that had to include multiple disciplines. I don't really care about religion or film so it wasn't my favorite class, but easy to do well in if you write well. The guest speakers were awesome
Loved his Religion & Film course! If you have the opportunity to take his class, do it! Just watch movies at home and talk about them in class. Only hard part was the Final Paper. Dr. Hussain also brings in special guests from the Film & Television industry on occasion. It's obvious he really cares about the topic and his students. Best professor!
Didn't know what to expect in a core theology class, but Prof. Hussain was AWESOME. Really made me understand why theology is important.
Amazing Professor. Very reasonable workload - love his accent. Very knowledgeable and approachable as well
Very boring professor. No tests or quizzes in his class, so the hour and a half lectures twice a week are both useless and boring.
Take him for Honors Theology. One of the smartest professors I have had
This guy is AMAZING. The best prof., hands down, I've had at LMU.
I had never taken Prof. Hussein in a class before. I'd heard about him, and he was great. I had to work in this class, but it really paid off, learning more about religion in the US.
Very interesting lectures and really cool professor. Put forth enough effort and you will do fine on the papers.
Amir is a really great guy. He is able to pass his incredible passion for the subject to students and has incredible choices for reading. He mostly lectured and could be a little unfocused so most of the learning occurs in the reading. However, you will not only learn a lot but gain a deep appreciation for the subject, I very highly recommend him.
I absolutely love Amir Hussain. He is the sweetest professor I've had, really cares about his students, laid back, etc. Just do the work and try your best! He's always available, responds to emails quickly, and is always kind. I also took an upper division theology course with him. Would take every class with him if I could!
Dr. Hussain can go off on subjects that don't really do much to condense or reinforce what we're supposed to learn, but it's still a good thing he is passionate and the textbooks are more interesting than not. I wish there were clearer instructions on the research paper since theological analysis is hard to pinpoint esp. for new students.
Dr. Hussain is one of the best professors I have ever had the privilege to take. He is passionate, incredibly well-respected in the field, and he cares about every single student. Nothing was funnier than him casually flexing the fact that he was in a documentary with Morgan Freeman - not as a boast, but because he's accustomed to things like that.
Took this class because I needed the interdisciplinary connections core, and I wanted to get it done in the summer so I can graduate on time. This is guy is probably the best professor I've had at LMU. Really cares about his students, and worked with me on all my assignments. No professor in my major does that...
So this was my favorite course at LMU, by my favorite professor. I'm a film major, but I loved this class because he talked with us (not at us) about the power of stories. And he cares about students in a way that few professors really do. An amazing class with an amazing professor.
I recommend him, he knows how to make jokes and is kind to you if you participate. Don't be on your phone or computer he don't play about that. I had it from 6-7:40 and the was he talks made me want to fall a sleep so bad so bring food with you to class if you also have him during that time.
Professor Hussain is a gem - he teaches with passion and genuinely cares about students. The workload is reasonable, and I found tools like unstuck ai really helpful for studying and prepping for his class.
Professor Hussain is a great lecturer and gives only a few assignments throughout the semester. There's two essays: book review and a 15 pages research paper, and a presentation based off your paper, but you have plenty of time and writing workshops. Also no homework or quizzes, just attend and participate and enjoy what you learn.
This was probably the best course I've taken at LMU. I took it as a faith and reason core, but Prof. Hussain was just amazing. Really inspirational, and cares about his students.
