easy,boring lectures
Very helpful teacher and funny but his lectures can be a bit boring
Very engaging prof, great course, one of the best courses at Kwantlen
lectures can get boring....alot of reading.....hate it....but nice guy
Extremely boring lectures, otherwise mind-numblingly easy class, and a nice guy.
can't understand what he's talking about all the time, and i just tired about that he always mention he's from Iron in every class, boring class,
Very nice guy, interesting class discussion if you actually pay attention!
Is it just me or does Iran keep coming up in his lectures? Very nice guy though. Little dry on lectures. Way too many overheads.
Awsome prof!!! Lots of note writing...but he explains things really well...easy to follow...overall an interesting class!

He wasn't a bad teacher but he enjoyed talking about Iran a lot. I learned more about Iran than soci. He was a fair marker but when i asked for help i fixed what he asked but he said it was a good essay and then changed his mind. I deserved a b+ not c+
goes thru notes too quickly. unclear. can't absorb anything the guy says. made us read the worst book i've ever read.
talks about iran too much, can't understand him, very uptight, notes r real bad, this is the most boring class i've ever taken-hes the worst teacher, take someone else
He's a really nice guy. Quite helpful if you speak to him after class, though if you haven't been reading the text, don't bother, he'll get annoyed. Loans books and texts for papers, and general interest. I liked his Iran stories. Easy tests if studied.
hes a nice teacher. the class is very boring, he goes thru the notes very fast and theres no point taking them. just read the text book. he gave extensions on the papers, which are easy.
He's a very nice guy, but 1125 is very crazy. Alot of note taking, which makes it boring but overall its okay
HES AN AWESOME INSTRUCTOR, VERY EASY AND FUN!!!!
Funny guy! Very understanding, gave extentions for assignments! No homework, only tests & participation. Boring class, gives too many notes too fast, but you can photocopy them after. You can read the text at home and come on test days and pull off a B+
what a joke, ummmmmm,,,,ummmmmmm, ummmmmmmm, thats what he sayz a lot. you woldnt understand a lot of his lectures, tests are hard, and hes a goof
He's a great prof at making you understand certain parts of the course. Everyone seems to think that his notes are too fast and too plentiful, but as he made a point in the class, if you've read the text then you won't need to take the notes. Good course!
Although he's very dry when giving his lectures,(as in very monotonous)he knows what he is talking about. As long as you read the text (the study guide breaks it down into simpler terms if you don't even want to read the text) you will pass the course.
Good teacher, very interesting lectures. Really cares, hard test though
Nice enough guy, but very boring! Seems to care more about covering material than making sure you understand it. Forget taking notes, he goes too fast. Just read the text and study guide and you should past m/c exams. I got an A-.
as long as you participate in class (voice your opinions!) you'll be fine in this course...great starter course, but he gets distracted and will talk a lot. Gives you photocopied notes where most of his test material comes from.
Really really good teacher, tests are straight out of notes. Explains things clearly and cares if you understand. Would recommend. If you try in his class you'll diffently get an A. Overall an AWESOME TEACHER perfect for first yr students.
Awesome teacher! He is very clear and even though he is monotonous, it's to reinforce your learning and show you HOW this class impacts the world we live in. He is funny & uses practical and real life examples in his teaching and he is caring & helpful!
Boring, talks mostly about Iranians. Seems like he doesnt even want to teach the class. Made us feel like we had to study like crazy and then the test was a joke. Hard to understand, notes are in poor english.
cool guy, cares about his students, classes are active but boring when he lectures
Very nice! Exam are MC, but hard to follow~ But as long as U attend the class and do the presentation, one can get A or B for no problem!I barely pass my midterms, but still get a B Quite happy ! Enjoy the class and have some fun
I think amir is a great teacher! I think he really cares on if you do well, and it is not hard to get a good mark in his class. i would definatly recommend taking his class.
Amir is great, very approachable and it makes it even more interesting when you speak up. Get involved in the class -you'll never start nodding off. He obviously cares about what he's teaching and has a good sense of humour. Never feel afraid to speak
this guy is really funnny, always telling stories about his bad life in the states, and how he hates 7-11. once in a while will say F*CK by an acident, then pretend he didnt... his course is really easy to follow, and tests and quizes are pretty easy!
Very good teahcer , approachable, very personalized and passionate about his course. You can learn a lot from this guy , not a very hard marker, just pay attention and don't goof off or u'll get a bad mark!
avoid him
good teacher.... very passionate about what he teachs.... marks way too hard though....
Very passionate and interesting. He was very approachable and interesting. His tests were good and I overall enjoyed his class a lot!
Very passionate teacher with a really great sense of humor. Lectures put you to sleep!
A LOT of reading, know your sociological perspectives 100%! he's a nice guy, but yeah...his lectures, ZZZzZzzzZzzz...
Nice teacher, Intresting class, Not to hard
makes the course interesting, i felt like i actually learnt something. exams are fair, but he can be stingy when marking written material. Lots of extra work towards the end of the term.
His approach is 'fluid' as opposed to clear, structured. I was unable to 'predict' where the course was going for the most part...frequent changes/seemed to be 'putting it together as he went'. He'd be the last on my list, considering all the other excel. Profs. in Soc.

His clas may not be easy, but it is very interesting. The man knows his material very well, and if ever you have a question or concern he will glady help you. If you want a class that will be easy do not take this one. But if you want a class that will fill your mushy brain with useful info, take it
Amir was an excellent teacher. I am taking his class next term because i liked him so much. As long as you pay attention & participate intelligently in class, he will be willing to help you out by extending due dates and such. he knows what he is talking about & is passionate about the material.
He is a fun teacher and this is a great class. He seems to care a lot about the subject and his students. He is very approachable and helpful. Not sure if he is easy or hard. On one paper I got an A and on the second I got a D. He is still a great teacher.
Great class, interesting lectures, you will actually learn something from his class. He is a nice, friendly guy with a good sense of humor. I recommend his class.
Very energetic, and brings the material to life
Amir is great! Extremely helpfull and extremely interesting.Personally, I wouldn't take a sociology course without him. Tests and material is very engaging- gets you thiniking out side the box. MUST HAVE FOR SOCI!
He is Great! Underestanding, fair and energetic. He makes everbody feel comfortable in his class. If you wanna learn to think criticaly about the world around you take his class for sure.
nice guy, fair marker, pretty easy exams...he is passionate about his teaching and it shows in his lectures..he is always available for help, and is extremely understanding if you're having problems...definitely recommend him
BEST teacher ever! Hes funny, amusing & class is actually pleasure 2 go 2! Notes helpful; examples clear. Tests relatively easy. 1st presentation Ive ever enjoyed doing! Hes helpful. Makes class FUN & interactive. Wud luv to take more classes w/ him! If u take soci take him! U actually learn A LOT!
hes a good teacher! his notes are really helpful and he often postes them up on the internet just in case u missed class.he makes class enjoyable and and allows u to think critically about the subject.if u want to take this class just to pass DONT u have to actually try*
Great teacher. Exams are straight-forward. Pay attention to the articles he hands out in class, they appear on the exam. Made class very interesting. You will have to work hard for a good mark.
My class with Amir has been one of my favourite experiences at Kwantlen. Rather than standing at the front of the class and just lacturing, he engaged me in what we were learning, and I felt as though he treated us all as equals. He was honest but fair. Definatly one of the best instructors at Kwantlen.
was in his class for 1125, great prof, not hard at all if you pay attention to his lectures and read the text, quite clear on what he wants on the midterms... always part MC part Essay/short answer... overall excellent, he know's what he's doing.
awsome teacher knows what he's talking about and very passonate about teaching
GREAT teacher, honest, impartial, NOT boring. Willing to help out students at a personal level to help them achieve a better mark. Lots of reading but still intersting. A+
Did not enjoy this class at all. Expectations were vague, tests were unclear. There was an overall consensus in our class that this was not taught as an intro course. Great prof for those who are knowledgeable in sociology already or taking other soci classes. Examples used in class were unrelatable to most students. Turned me off of the subject.
Had no expectations going in, fell in love with the subject. He's really into the topic and tries to spread that to the students. Go to class, pay attention. He doesn't mark too easily but his tests are pretty easy. Multiple choice :) Tries to make the atmosphere relaxed and casual, but still a learning environment.
The first 2-3 months I dragged myself to go to class, but after that, the group discussions were awesome! The textbooks can be a difficult read, but he goes through them very thoroughly in class. He is a good teacher, but he does tend to use the same examples over and over. However, I did learn A LOT. Very interesting.
"son of a gun!" Amir is hilarious and he really knows his stuff. Good class. :)
Fair and willing to help; quite animated; have to really know your stuff for the tests though
An AWESOME Professor
One of the BEST teacher in Kwantlen. VERY clear about what will be on tests. Class always goes very quick, he might not be the easiest teacher but if you read what he tells you to read you cant go wrong. GREAT teacher makes me proud to be Iranian, if you need this class it doesnt get much better then him, even if u dont need the class I recomend it.
Amir is a very charismatic prof who is always nice to everyone. He uses the same examples over and over (annoying), has extremely difficult tests (all MC but don't be fooled) but gives long and somewhat helpful study guides. There is tons of reading too but I worked really hard and pulled off a B+ on the year. SLACKERS BEWARE. I liked the class
this prof is awsome and very passionate about his work. you just gotta make sure you pay attention in class and do your reading
AWESOME prof, absolutely hilarious and passionate..ALTHOUGH he gets a little too excited sometimes and lack clarity, other than that, 100% suggest his class, YOU'LL HAVE FUN AND LEARN!
so much fun.... if Amir wanted to be my friend, I would jump at the chance. He's hilarious, and wants his students to genuinely learn. If you're gonna take a sociology class at kwantlen, you HAVE to take one with Amir.
Amir was a really fun Prof who is really passionate about what he teaches. I would HIGHLY recommend this class to anyone wanting to take Sociology at Kwantlen. He might get a little off track sometimes but overall he is just a really cool guy who makes you want to learn what he is teaching.
You'll smile lots in his class; his passion for sociology is contagious!!! Love him.
Worst instructor I have had in my 2 yrs at Kwantlen. He must have had a really bad semester considering all the good comments he has had on this site.Everyone did very bad on the first mid and his response was that first year course don't matter to graduate school admissions or any other program. What about med school where the competition is harsh?
Not a bad teacher, but I would not take him again. You have to do lots of group presentations and if your group is bad, tough luck, cause you all get the same mark. Lectures and expectations are unclear.
When you do presentations in front of the class he criticizes you and tells you your mark in front of the class. Very unprofessional. Make sure you sign his attendance sheet every class or you lose marks. He does not make this clear until you get your final grade. He only teaches in the summer though.
Best class I've ever taken. This professor is very knowledgable and caring. I would definitely recommend taking this course.
Hard to understand this instructor. His m/c tests are flawed. They consist of long winded questions with long winded possible answers. Very confusing. This was my worst grade since attending this university.
Awesome and useful class. This Professor is great and really cares.
love him to pieces! he has a great sense of humour...even though lectures are repetitive at times. his course outline is scarily thick, but when it comes to the actual assignments, he leaves it wide open for you to do your own thing. study his notes thoroughly, and you should do fine.
Horrible, simply put. You can never really tell what he wants, explains in circles without actually answering the question. Too many options for the tests and papers, over all unclear. Would never take him again. Handed back term papers wreaking of smoke.
He's very enthusiastic about what he teaches and always elaborates on points with plenty of examples. Nice guy, marks fairly easily, and will for sure help if you ask.
Fantastic prof.Going into my first year of college Amir`s help is what guided my nervous first year jitters into a confident and passionate vision. I appreciated that he marked me more on the social aspect of the class (discussions and projects) instead of testing, as I am a social learner. Heavy use in the text, but open to interpretation.
i absolutely loved this class. if you keep up with the reading and listen to lectures you should be fine. he is very passionate, which makes me want to learn and gains my interest. it is a hard class if you dont want to learn though.very funny guy. sometimes he seems like hes in a rush and forgets what he is talking about, still entertaining though
if I had a choice I wouldn't have taken this teacher! Not only is he unclear as to what he wants us to do, he is also very disorganized when it comes to preparing midterm and quizzes! Can you please make up your mind Amir?! If I registered early, I wouldn't have taken him. Too bad he was the only available teacher for sociology at that time.
Very nice teacher, encourages his students and makes them feel their contributions are valued. Neither hard nor easy marker. Will continue to take his classes in the future wherever possible.
He is hilarious, loses his glasses all the time and they r right there on his head! LoL Made his class the best experience I've had in Kwantlen! Lookin forward to take another class with him! He does use alot of personal experiences to explain things which obviously makes him the MAN! And Iran is the shiiiiiet! YEAAA!!!
Amir is a very helpful prof. I enjoyed his lectures; he draws on many personal experiences which makes the material easier to understand. Quizes are sometimes not what he told you to study for. Multiple choice is a killer, but he prepares you well in a sense that you can apply what you have learned. Highly recommended to all! Use his office hours!
Amir is nice, but I find his classes are extremely unorganized and unclear of what he expects from his students. His grading would be fair if he only gave simplier instructions. He is interesting to listen to and kept me laughing thoughout his lectures but I don't think I will take a class with him again.
Amir is a really nice genuine guy. He wants the best for his students but his classes are tough. He expects a lot from his students and his marking tends to be a bit tougher than other profs. If your wiling to put in the effort you can do well, but if your looking for an easy A take another prof!
It is rare to find a prof that truly cares about his students, he really wants to see his students excel. He is tough and expects a lot from his students through their assignments, however is willing to help you. He can sense the slackers vs. the students who are really trying. His one downfall would be lack of clarity in his instructions.
Awesome Teacher! Hands down my favorite Sociologyt Proff at Kwantlen. I highly recommend AMir.
great & caring teacher, excellent class
Amir is extremely passionate, and truly cares about his students. I would definitely take another class with Amir. He is very involved, and if you are just looking for a easy mark go else where. If your passionate like him you will easily get an A, but dont expect it without trying. Amir does lecture series which all socio teachers should do!
marvelous teacher, help me so much with great patience. He is a lovely person and has so many little stories to tell during the class to describe those theories. I can't have my A- without his help. I will fellow him for my furture courses, definitely?
Amir is an amazing prof! He is so passionate in his lectures, he makes sure everyone is engaged. The course load is a lot though! But, he is always there to help you out if its needed. I loved going to his lectures! So motivating.
Amir was definitely one of my more memorable profs. He's a really nice guy, and very passionate about teaching. Great sense of humor, so refreshing to see a teacher who doesn't take himself so seriously. Is Iranian, and talks about Iran ALOT! Pretty disorganized course-wise, so be prepared. All in all, a good course experience.
Amir is the best prof ever. It is a legit boss.
Amir is my favourite prof. of al time. I believe he is going to be the best prof. I am ever going to have. I will never forget him. HIGHLY RECOMMEND TAKING HIM!
Hands down one of the kindest profs i have ever had. I learnt so much from him and I actually enjoyed coming to class. I'm glad I took his class. Take him and you'll learn so much!! I got a B. Take notes and don't be afraid to ask for help!
Amir is really passionate about the subject. All of his lectures were really interesting, he provides personal experiences which make it that much more engaging. A lot of reading required to do well in his exams. No surprises though, he's pretty straightforward. Read the book, attend class and you'll do well! Very approachable. Good prof overall.
Amir is a nice teacher. He'll make you laugh, think and at times, feel totally outraged. He truly seems to want his students to understand the course material and how they relate to our world. He does rely heavily on the assigned textbooks and is not always clear with what he expects out of assignments. Midterm and final are both papers.
it is useful to take his class, the professor is always passionate, nice teacher, good grade.
Amir is an energetic prof who uses his life experiences to help us relate to the topic. He gives out a lot of handouts which you will need to study for exams which makes for light note-taking. Participation is key so be sure to speak up if you want full participation and attendance marks. Very cool guy overall.
Amir was great in the lecture, he was very clear and straight to the point. However, he's not very clear of what he expect in tests, so most people failed his midterm. But he curve our grade so everyone could pass which is nice. overall his class is very interesting but tough..
Always willing to help. He has so much knowledge on the topic that it makes the lectures exciting
Was the worst prof I've ever had. He didn't listen to students and gives bad grades. He is really rude and talks about Iran all the time. I wish I had never taken him.
Perhaps the least respectful professor I have had. Gives grades that are bad for no reason even if test book is source. Cuts students off. Perpetuates stereo-types. Does not care about student opinion and if you disagree he marks you badly. I would not take again. I regret taking.
He is a very inspirational professor, very encouraging and makes you work hard in his classes. He can teach, very helpful and respect other students' opinions.
Worst prof I have ever had. I am a straight A student and he dropped my GPA with Cs. He gives boring lectures with no time to take notes and grades hard. Throws grades around without thought. Just bad.
Presentation takes up huge chunk of grade and he marks based on how much he likes your opinion and if you agree with him. Quizzes were bad and tests were too. Boring classes with no participation grade but expects students to talk. Wouldn't take again.
Really boring class and readings. Marks hard and expects you to remember so much info for second year class. Total GPA dropper.
Excellent class and excellent teacher. Really cares and is very helpful. So glad I took this course.
Read the textbook. Also, get ready to learn how to take notes in a whole new way. He makes you want to come to class!
Avoid at all costs! Classes regularly begin early, go overtime & are rather dry. We had to buy 4 books & 3 of them were painfully boring (and yes, you do need to read them). I found grading to be inconsistent & he had a hard time explaining where marks were lost. He doesn't seem to respect interdisciplinary research. I regret taking this elective.
Really great guy with lots of funny stories to tell. Sometimes off topic and rambles. Lots of reading that are mandatory because of quizzes at start of class. Overall pretty good teacher, would take his class again.
I recommend against taking this professor. This course requires 4 textbooks, and there are 4 midterms that are based on these textbooks so reading them all is mandatory. There are two presentations; one is 15 minutes and the other is 60 minutes. If you must take this class, pick another professor.
Amir is one of those instructors that changes one's perspective of life. His knowledge encompasses many matters inside and outside course material. Look, if you want to learn something and have a good time take his course.
he's a great professer
excellent teacher, excellent class
1st midterm was promised to be open-book and 1 or 2 essays, but ended up being 3 essays and a paragraph, closed-book. Marking was unreasonable & confusing. He's impossible to talk to. Textbook was difficult to read and the chapters were long, waste of money. Very disappointed with this professor, I had positive expectations after his first lecture.
Amir's a great prof. He cares about his students and wants them to do well. To pass you have to thoroughly read the book. Not an "easy A" class but if you work hard you should do alright. Come to every class, a lot of important stuff isn't on the slides. Has "talking notes" for every class which is based on previous classes which help for the test!
Would not recommend to take this coarse
most worst professor never take any course from this professor if u want to fail then take this professor
Fudu professor. U will fail and ruin your money. Dont take this specially international student and general study students.
never ever take this class
international students never take this coarse half of class fails
If he would spend more time lecturing on test topics rather than present his biased leftist arguments supported by anecdotal evidence, students would probably do better. I am almost insulted when he prefaces handing back exams by telling students they "didn't read enough" or "didn't apply themselves" and he is "surprised by how many people failed."
Excellent class and professor. I suspect that those complaining just didn't put in the time and effort. If you attend class and do your readings, you can ace this course.
The worst professor. Never take his class otherwise, he is very very hard marker. He gives marking in negative and directly gives zero for long answers. This was my worst class.
Amir is an excellent prof. I learned a lot - interesting course.
Assignments are not made specific for students to work on.
Very tough marker. Expects you to be a sociology expert for an intro level course. The only way to get a good mark is to repeat his biased opinion back to him word for word, which is why 60% of my class was failing. Bases his quizzes (10%) and exams (2 x 30% each) off his slides, which he refuses to post online or give enough time to take notes of.
Really great professor and eye-opening class. I really enjoyed this class and learned so much.
I'll rate fairly, and not go extreme. Very fun and inspirational. Cares about students. Empathetic, and gives good advice. Lectures are fast, but doesn't have solid structure. Kinda cute how he always says "Am i making sense to us here." Also, make sure you know what "Sociological Imagination" is.
He is a humorous and engaging prof and his lectures were very interesting . He marks fairly and tells you exactly what he is expecting .He occasionally gets off topic with stories but even those are entertaining and sometimes connects to his lecture. Would definitely reccomend taking him as a prof.
So unorganized and unclear. Really specific with marking, almost impossible to "impress". Goes off on a tangent during classes. I would not take his class again. 30% X2 on two exams. Complicates lectures. I would not recommend anyone... over half of my class failed the course....
Amir changed my life. I have taken many courses with him over the years, Intro blew my mind and I switched majors. He is a tough marker which will prepare you for the academy, he really invests in his students. He deserves much more than to have to put up with your privlege, so be kind. I have been fortunate to learn from this brilliant person.
At first in the beginning of the semester he seemed pretty intimidating considering it was my first year and first semester to start off with. As we got into the course material and his lectures I became more confident and he truly is an amazing person. He had this one main group project about deconstruction on Disney movies.
I've taken many kpu soci profs, he is truly one of my favorites after only taking 1 class. He is intelligent, pushes you to really learn and think critically. He doesnt bs so dont bs him. He is an advanced prof though so not sure about intro but for upper level, he is really inspiring. Would take again in a heart beat. You learn lots.
The best class I took this semester. Amir is a really inspirational and motivating prof and I learned so much. I will be definitely taking more courses if he is teaching.
He is so motivated and teaches from a place of knowledge.
He tries brainwashing you with leftist ideology, and insists that your papers should only include the examples he gives. His expectations for the exams (papers) are unclear, and he marks your papers as if you have a phD in sociology. I recommend taking cyanide sooner than his class.
Wasn't my favourite he was confusing and not clear on his teaching. He also only wants his points of view shared and refuses to look at anyone else story or background, he got angry at this girl who was trying to share her story in order to better describe the material she learned and while she presented he interrupted her and was extremely rude :(
You have to read his textbook to pass the course. There are 3 tests worth total 70%, and you can only write answers based on whats in the book. He won't give you his slides, but if you type fast enough you can get them down in class. Very caring, he wants you to do good. will let you rewrite your exams until you are happy with your mark.
Amir is an excellent instructor - I learned so much and he is really fair and easy going
Amir is so great! Definitely comes off a bit scary, but he has a heart of gold. His classes focus more on what you're actually going to learn by doing and by discussing your experiences but also require reading the textbook. Although his textbooks aren't difficult to read, and easy to understand. He is amazing!
This is the worst professor i have ever studied from. he will never give you grades on time and these days in the online cllasses, he didn't even attended a single class. just gave a pdf and said complete it weekly.
This is the worst professor I have ever seen at Kwantlen. He didnt provide with any lectures just gave a pdf with instructions and expected us to follow it. Moreover, he didnt grade any of my assignments I did submit. What is use of meeting deadlines and making assignments. Never take this prof.
the worst prof ever only gave a pdf of the course on the first day and were told to submit assignment every week never take him if you want to get a good grade
Yes, there was only a PDF and no lectures. It explicitly explained all details you needed to know about the course. Each essay had specific instructions and I got 100% on all my essays just by following them. Not hard if you actually read and follow instructions. I heard hes a great lecturer though so it sucks I couldnt take this class in person
He's really nice but tends to preach and rample alot in his lectures. Very assionate but if you dont share the same views as him on the course topic, you will get worse grades because he thinks youre wrong.
He was really good at giving constructive feedback and seemed to be a great professor to have on an online class. All around a true gem of a teacher during this pandemic; make sure to work hard for the papers, ask him questions and do your homework and you'll be just fine. Don't be discouraged when he grades you the first time, his feedback helps
I've never been more confused and overwhelmed in a class. Would spend 45 minutes trying to set the online lecture up, so barely learned anything, then would get mad when people asked questions about assignments. I did not get any feedback on any assignments we did, so I had no idea what grade I have even now that the class is over. So unorganized.
I just want to say he's the best. Like altho i got a A- i could have got a A+ if i did my part better. HES AN EASY MAKER, UNDERSTANDING, AND YES U HAVE TO READ JUST A FAIR AMOUNT OF STUFF but hes great. Email him and he will help you and reply back to u ASAP. 9/10
One of the best profs I have had. Super interesting and fun class!
I took this course not knowing what to expect. Amir is a great professor - lectures were so interesting and he is really caring and motivational.
Horrible professor. He is incapable of using technology and is overly passive aggressive; not to mention, a terrible communicator. Avoid please.
Hes okay, but wont take him again. Hes very unorganized especially with online classes. He doesnt respond to emails. You must attend the class . In terms of exams, you must read the textbook because he doesnt provide you with PowerPoint or syllables , and if you do so , you will be okay. Every week theres a weekly assignment must be completed
I'm not sure why the negative reviews - I am learning so much in this class. Amir is an excellent instructor who makes this course so interesting. He has been really accommodating to me (and class) - I will definitely be taking another Soci course with him
Heavily pushes leftist agenda and can be really aggressive with his delivery of some topics. He doesnt provide any additional notes outside the lecture so you have to read his textbook word for word in order to pass. I recommend avoiding him if possible.
Amir is such excellent prof who really cares and wants students to be successful and to think critically. Learning so much in this class and topics so interesting. Do readings and easy to get a good grade.
I am learning so much and Amir is just the best - I actually look forward to his classes and lectures. Just make sure you keep up with the readings.
Amir's class is interesting and fun and he makes sure the whole class is involved in discussions. Lots of reading but easy to get a good grade if you do the work. Really cares about the success of his students.
Worse class I have ever taken. Hes very unorganized Not recommend
Amir is just the greatest teacher who makes class interesting and fun. Obvious he cares about all his students.
He is not the worst prof. You do not need to attend his class, just make sure to keep up with his readings. I took his class in the summer of 2021. His class was based on 3 exams and weekly reflections everything was worth 25%. His exams were hard but the reflections were easy. If you try you will pass the class.
Have to keep up with readings but course is not difficult and topics covered are so interesting and important - learned so much.
Lectures are synchronous and interesting. Three tests based on readings and then weekly reflection worth 25% of final grade. Thought I would end up with a B and got an A!
Amir is just a great prof - class is fun - lots of reading but learned a lot
Classes with Amir are the best. He knows how to get the classroom to participate and it is fun. He explains the material so well with so many relevant examples and is always encouraging questions and comments from the beginning to end of class. My other online classes just put me to sleep.
this class has been the worst I have taken so far. don't waste your time and take this prof. his online lectures make no sense! heavy readings every week I spent time and did the readings for each chapter and expected the exam to be on the readings but it wasn't. 3 exams in total first 2 worth 45% each and last one 10% soo that's 100%
There were only a handful of students who showed up to class and Amir explained the material so well that it was impossible to not do well on the tests. I suspect those who are complaining just didn't bother to show up at all. He is excellent lecturer who is so caring and helpful.
I really looked forward to Amir's classes and would take any course he teaches.
You can take this course with another professor because he use his own textbook, I mean written by him and its very hard to meet his requirements in exams. Tip: Never hope he will understand you and your situation, He will say its your personal problem. My 4 classmates have failed this course, Who have never failed in any course before.
Never provide a clear view of any thing. Very confusing personality. Have very tough grading. I prefer not to take this professor for this course. Otherwise it become very difficult you to get even the passing marks. He privide his own written book which is also very confusing.
Good professor, all you have to do is to be in class and pay attention to his lectures, overall he is an easy class that could help you to bump up your GPA
To hard to understand him and his textbook. You can't make him happy in exams. He thinks his textbook is end of the world even more then google definitions. Stay away to stay happy :) .
he never give the grades according to your ability and your participation was always zero even you attend for his lecture on time
good class overall kind & funny prof
Super prof - go to class and do the readings and class is pretty easy and really interesting
he is very confused and will force you to learn lot of terms. my preference is to stay away from him who work a lot with studies or you will end up with (F).
PROS- I did really well in his class (you HAVE TO read the textbook) and he himself is a passionate and sincere guy. No assignments just exams. CONS- he never gave clear outlines of what was going to be on exams so I was always anxious when his exams came up. Heavy reading material, this class can get confusing with Amir if your not up to date.
90% of grade was determined by exams. Semester was super chaotic with grading outlines changing constantly. Granted, Amir was experiencing personal issues throughout the semester, which caused him to miss many classes, including the last month or so. This was the only reason I did well. Passionate about teaching, but too much weight on exams.
Just do not take his class.
he is really nice and carring teacher
I would highly reccommend not to take his class, extremely unprofessional. Doesn't value students time. I had to drop my course because of him constantly changing the course outline and never replying to emails, he like to say 'I don't use moodle'. So he doesn't use moodle and doesn't reply to emails.
Amir's lectures are always in depth and thought provoking, his motivation to create a group learning environment was an awesome experience. I know there were concerns about the syllabus early on but quickly you'll realize when assignments are due he will let you know what he is expecting from you. He truly cares and is always willing to help.
He give a course syllabus and a timeline at the start, but doesn't really follow it. He will ask u to get textbooks and then not even use them . Class is easy if u just do ppts and a paper. But its not fun at all
He is really good and nice And flexible teacher for exam he gives you time to write it in your own personal time and comfort and extend deadline for assignments and test
he cant make clear instructions for any of the assignments, and his grading is so mixed.
He is a great professor and very easy to work with. He does not hold students to deadlines as long as they are able to submit quality assignments. We had no tests, but we did have to write a lot of papers which included 3 reflections, 1 research paper, 3 essays, & a final reflective essay. You will have to read a lot. Lectures are easy & thorough.
Amir is an understanding prof, he is always willing to help students, just 2 exams, 2 presentations, and 1 paper. Pay attention to when he explains his course expectations and follow them. Don't buy the textbooks, got an A easily without using them. Amir makes jokes and is very energetic in lectures. Easy and chill class
As long as you agree with his perspective and regurgitate his ideas you're fine.
He is a great person. But you will have to read a lot. Lectures are easy & thorough. But his assignment instructions were really hard to understand. Like really hard. And the work load was pretty intense but hes an amazing person but an Ok professor.
Would NOT recommend: did not receive a single mark or feedback until after the semester, no rubrics but assignment instructions are pages and vague, so you don't know if you're on track. Required to read his book/papers. Disorganized, online lectures unhelpful. Heavy reading/writing on your effect on inequality. Many do okay but unnecessary stress!
Amazing prof, very caring about his students, gives extensions when you need it, also gives very well explained and helpful feedback on assignments.
best professor.
just flow with the lectures
He is very good person and care about his students but as professor he is not and very tough grader its was very hard for me to pass the cource as first semester student at KPU
* All textbooks are free Amir is a great person. If you work hard, participate, and genuinely try to understand the concepts you will do very well. I will say that the moodle page is pretty disorganized. That's a relatively minor thing though. All things considered a great proff who I would definitely take again.
Amazing professor. His way of teaching is different than others and his classes are interesting.
This class is like being lost in a desert and Amir is your guide, but he also lowkey has no idea where we're going. It's week 8 have not received a single mark on anything. Wants a written copy of midterm and a version posted publicly on moodle, so you're doing it twice. Confusing on what he wants from assignments/ exams. You will learn survival.
Took him in summer 2025. Generally, read the textbook assigned weekly readings & do the writing homework; +homework is asynchronous minus exam essays, tho try to finish homework before last 3-4 weeks. Long class lecture calls, tho no group work in 1125 online; +try politically correct writing. slight notes, READ, & pay attention in calls to learn.
First time taking him. Nice guy chill. He needs to judge based on how he understands us not on what others say.
Nice guy but it's December 9th and I mean absolutely NOTHING has been graded. Lives by the motto that grades shouldn't matter but unfortunately in the real world they do so just post them brochacho 💔. He also wrote a whole course syllabus and never followed it. If you like being prepared and following a schedule like me DO NOT TAKE HIM.
