Took this class during the summer without knowing just how speaking intensive it was. We each made a presentation on a chapter in the textbook, along with 4 other presentations. She's a little intimidating & intense but very knowledgeable about art. Feel like I could've learned more if she lectured, but I guess that's how Hist. of Photo. is done.
The directions for assignments can be confusing at times. When she responds to class discussions on Moodle she just continues to challenge your response over and over. Rarely any positive feedback. Tedious assignments. Fairly easy but I DEFINITELY would not want to take a non-online course with her. Would not take again.
She will challenge you until the end. She is very knowledgeable about the subject, however she does forget that many students don't know about arts. For the midterm exam she gave several pair of pictures expecting the date the painting or sculpture were made, who made, who commissioned , artistic characteristics such as what the vanishing point.
Not a fan. The class was really writing intensive. The syllabus was clear, but if you've never taken art the first few assignments may seem difficult. I had no idea how to write about art, so that was definitely the biggest difficultly. I think it would have been helpful to see an example of a "formal analysis" by a prior student from the class.
She's incredibly knowledgeable about art - if you have little experience it will be a challenge. 2 essays analyzing art, and the midterm & final is a lot of writing, memorizing, and comparing art. Lectures are so dull, mainly from her art jargon no one understands. If you have a passionate & study, you can get a good grade. Attendance is mandatory!
She is really knowledgeable about the subject.. maybe too much so. She is not good at hearing others opinions. She puts students down a lot idk if she even notices she does it. Class isn't that hard if you study. A lot of memorization but she lets you look at notes for essay section of the midterm and final. Go to class and study and you'll be good
Took a class w her in the summer + it's different during the regular school year. She lectures for the entire class and I do mean the entire class (literally to the last minute). Your grade attendance (3 skips), 1 midterm, 1 final, + 2 papers (one 1 page, one 3). She's INCREDIBLY smart but I learned SO MUCH. Would suggest for those who like art
good, but challenging online class!
Professor Amity Law did a great job in this online class. She has a set due date each week in which you must accomplish everything. You will gain more respect for the arts, while not being over worked. Yes you need to read but this class is more about how to discussappreciate art then the actual understanding of each piece.
I took Dr. Law's online art history course Fall 2014. Very straight forward, weekly discussionsanalysis, two writing assignments, a midterm and a final. Just participate on weekly discussions and do assignments on time! Overall a great course, responds to emailsquestions quickly.
I went into this semester with a lot on my plate, and Mrs Law was very understanding and easy to communicate with regarding my needs. She gave me different assignments and longer time when i needed it. Would not have passed without her!
I don't understand all the flack Professor Law receives. She is a brilliant woman and very knowledgable about art history. Yes, she is no nonsense and does make you work hard for your grades but that's what I loved about her! I would definitely take her again.
One of the best courses I've had at college!
She's tuff but very knowledgeable and the class is well worth your time.
She is a good professor, but I wasn't very interested in the topic which made the lectures go by slow. Her vocab is really up there which can make it difficult to follow along, she's thorough in her lectures and I recommend taking notes to pass. There are only 2 assignments and then the midterm and final, there's also a requirement to visit MFA.
Not a bad professor, but honestly, if you're looking for an easy way to check off the fine arts requirement, this isn't it. There are a lot of slides you have to memorize (artist, title, year). Lectures can be long. She is knowledgeable in her subject and it can be interesting, but it is definitely information-heavy for an elective.
Tough Grader, and seriously the most intense class. I worked harder than ever and read everything and was still unclear of what the prof wanted?? My answers were clear and concise yet I never got any idea of what the grade meant and why I got it a B instead of an A. Daily work based on being able to figure out what the questions meant.
I took a two-week winter session course, which was an entire 15 week (3 credit) course, in just two weeks time. This class was A LOT of reading, but the way that Dr. Law organized the work, made it easy to survive the two weeks. I would definitely take another class with this Professor. The work is, what one would expect of inter-session classes.
Highly intellectual, but approachable teacher. See her if you need help, communicate and do the work and you'll learn a lot! Yes, it's hard work. If you do the work, you will do just fine. Reach out if you have an issue, she quickly responds. It might be hard but if you like the material you can learn a lot from this teacher!

Reach out if you have an issue, she quickly responds. She's a hard worker and expects her students to be too, so don't take it if you want a breeze class.
I took Arth 103 in class, and Arth 104 online. It's a lot of reading for sure. Some papers and tests that involve memorizing slides, and a museum visit. If you like to read and go at your own pace you will love her online class! If you like lectures she will utilize every drip of time to teach you in class. It's a lot, but I loved it!
If you take the online class, you can work at your own pace. There are no tests like the in class has but you will need to participate with peers, read a lot, do weekly assignments. This teacher is VERY smart. Reach out, and she will help you and check in online often with you on things. I like the in class lectures, but this is a great route!
As an intersession class it is fast paced, but Dr. Law is very thorough in her instructions and details of when assignments are due etc. She always gets right back to you when you have a question, very helpful, and you are allowed to offer your opinion of art studied based on what you learn, she helps you understand engaging topic. Learned so much!
Professor Law is very knowledgeable in her subject, but dosent take into account that her students are not at the same level as her. She uses many terms and phrases that only she understands, and often makes students feel disconnected from the class because of her jargon.
Law is a nice person in general but doesnt understand most of the people in her class are there because they need to take it, so she will use terms that not many people understand. She can be a very picky grader at times. The class is very heavy on lectures. I sit on my laptop and use it for everything besides note taking and she has never noticed.
Overall, this was a decent class, professor law does truly care about her students! Even the students who never show up to class or do the assignments. So, go to class, do the work and listen to lectures and you'll be fine . She's a fair grader , and one of the most intelligent professors I've had! I would take again .
I took Art history with ALaw online, and it was the hardest class I have ever taken. She expects everyone to be on a professional artist level. the assignments are lengthy and hard to understand what she is even talking about. I swear she thinks this is everyone's only class. The assignments were ridiculously hard.
I am not much of an art person but I would really reccomend this class with Law. You can tell she cares about her students which usually isnt the case with most online classes. The assignments are very easy and relatively short but do require you having the book. We did not have any tests, midterm and final were writing assignments
I really enjoyed this course, the work was flexible, you only had to submit weekly discussion posts, take a midterm and final, and write 2 short papers. The Professor is very approachable if you are behind on work and is willing to work with you.
Im not an art major but still I loved this class! I took it to cover my core requirements and it was like a breath of fresh air! You can tell Law is very passionate about what she teaches and I loved learning from her.
do not take her i warn you. but she is an easy A.
She is extremely boring in her lectures and tends to have an attitude with students. Take this class with another teacher.
Who could find this boring class lecture times, but those who dont wish to learn? The professor is very approachable and helpful with most difficult things. Talk to her and she will help! Even if you do not absolutely love art (I do), will get a lot out of it!
Even if the new words are often shared in lectures, I have really learned so much. She really wants to share the knowledge about art and also architecture with students. I just go to class and learn so many new ideas. Her passion about art and architecture is contagious, I like it better now!
This is one of the more straightforward and easy classes in my schedule. I appreciate having a chance to learn this material at a good pace and would take another one of these classes, for a requirement, definitely! I wish I had more, or even enough time for it actually. The discussions are the most interesting for me.
I took it online and it fits with my schedule best of all. Listening to people talk is not my style, Id rather read and write in a way that is not timed. I enjoyed the relaxation of being able to learn the material online at my own pace. She met with me once when I asked, and I would meet again if I ever had another question! Email is responsive!
There are many selfish jerks out there, but Law is not one of them. She wants me to succeed, for me the number one most important character trait for a Prof. I would therefore do the lectures to learn more.
I just learned so much about Gothic cathedrals in Professor Laws class! I loved the amount of work and subjects!
Prof. Law has a lot to say in lectures, and it is interesting I guess. The group projects are my favorite and I wish we had more of them.
I do like this class, and the Professor is solidly dedicated. One thing would be if you could turn the heat down, it was just way too hot all winter to concentrate at all.
Prof. Law responded to each and every one of my inquiries. Whenever I had questions, I knew I could get in touch. What I really enjoyed were the forum assignments and discussions with all the students, as well as the MFA visit as I went with my family!
To be honest this course and Prof. were so easy, for me I think it was the online format. It allows me to organize my time. I found more discussion times with classmates over the course, since we had the time to think and then respond. Dr. Law was thorough, and she communicated in helpful ways.
Prof. Law did everything to help me through our recent difficulties, including each assignment fully explained and extra time and help getting my laptop fixed! Before that I liked the group work in class. I wish we finished in class.
The most helpful thing was every time I had a question, she responded almost instantly. I like learning online now anyway, but this Professor made it very easy to do it with confidence. I liked learning about the art and buildings most.
Not only is she a very caring professor, but I had real trouble during the COVID-19 pandemic, and she helped me get internet and computer access. It is pretty frustrating to read these complete lies about Dr. Law. I wish I knew who wrote this! I loved learning about art with this person!
I liked Prof. Law as a person, she's respectful and answers emails quickly. However, her class was hard and annoying. There was so much unnecessary work (so many long and boring essays) and I feel like I didn't learn any art history, just how to "compare and contrast" works of art. I wish I learned more about the actual works of art and artists.
She helped me to get a *paying* internship with the museum, and during class she *actually* offered more than a dozen different kinds of learning ideas and tools for us. I know because I was there. I dont know if imposters wrote the lies on here or if BSU students live in la-la land. They didnt take her course.
You learn everything form the (extremely dry) textbook & then do discussion posts. Also, she does not have a set day of the week where she posts the prompts. The slides are legit just pics from the textbook and questions you have to respond to. Haven't learned a thing ab actual art history, just how to compare works. The work is short but annoying.
Really easy class. You have to do a discussion post every monday, 2 writing assignments and 2 tests (mid term and final) if you do the discussion posts and do all the work youll pass. Little boring cuz its like youre doing the same thing pretty much every Dpost but easy pass
The course was an asynchronous arrangement, which I liked a lot. It meant extra time to complete work beyond deadlines if I needed it, and also that I could contact the Prof any day for help or with questions and she responded almost immediately.
I wanted a series of lectures, but found my reading and writing have improved. I really like online, did not at first think I could, and this teacher made it easy to feel I was on top of the class work. I learned without feeling stressed by due dates.
legit did not grade anything till last minute, terrible at responding to emails. Only assigns busy work, haven't even learned anything about actual art history.
Dr. Law provides an asynchronous format; I like it because I can pace myself and seek help via emails or Zoom office hours if I need it. The course flexes with my time investment and interest levels, and the Professor guided my exploration of the topics I was most interested in. Its balanced with my greater course load and other responsibilities.

I would want more live in-person conversations instead of discussion forum threads. I asked the Professor if we can do this. She said it was a really good idea. I am definitely going to take some more in Art History next year, now I feel I have mastered well the basics.
Asynchronous is best. For me it is easy to look forward to the work of virtual visits to museums and exploring art and buildings. Really enjoyed this course and would take more asynchronous art history if available. Cannot wait to go there in person also!
Class consisted of discussion posts and 4 writing assignments. Each week we had to read the book and respond to a question in a post. Don't feel like I actually learned anything. Took a while to respond to emails if at all and never understood what I was trying to ask. Only graded 2 assignments so hard to predict final grade.
Professor Law was one of the only online teachers who always replied to my emails right away. She even responded to a question about my grades. This course was fun, but I wish we could visit some of the museums again soon.
I think that for an online class, Dr. Law made it very clear and it was a good experience. The experience could be better with actual lectures, and Im looking forward to another Art History course next year. I had no troubles with following and completing all.
The course was consistent and easy to participate in. She replied to a question immediately, and kept us informed through Blackboard and email both. I appreciated both the clarity and work load.
This professor may be nice to take in person, but dear god do not take her online. Not accessible at all. Never responded to a single email. All she did was post slides that featured pictures and no context. I am convinced she never looked at an assignment submitted and just handed out whatever grade she wanted. Personally would not recommend.
This was Global History of Architecture, and I loved it. There were many online virtual models, interactive websites with virtual tours of buildings, ppt slides, and a textbook which I didnt use much. Professor Law helped with my final project, and was always there for me via email and for Zoom office hours. I liked learning this online when home.
Architecture was one of the best subjects to learn online during this time, because theres a way to visit buildings virtually with digital models and virtual website tours when stuck inside. Also there was ample context online, even though the textbook can be helpful. The professor reached out to me and also answered my questions whenever asked.
Dr. Law was always there online, so I personally felt supported and enjoyed choosing my topics and speed in this a-sync format. Visiting actual buildings would have helped maybe next year! Virtual models and websites with virtual tours were all very supportive also.
There were a lot of online virtual tours and websites that gave me a better idea of the buildings than these textbook pages and 2D slides. Dr. Law answered my questions and also helped me to design a topic for the final writing project, and Id liked this assignment. I enjoyed architecture class.
Although it was asynchronous, I enjoyed Law's class immensely. The workload isn't too heavy, and she gives you amble time to complete it. My only complaint is that she never gave any feedback on graded assignments, so it was hard to understand why points were taken off. Overall, she's a great professor, and I wish I could've had her in-person.
This is not an easy class to fulfill your fine arts requirements. She never attempts to teach or grade papers just says we'll get the grades when shes done with all of them so we have no idea how we are doing. Her weekly homework is 700+ words in discussion posts. Final is 1400+ words. Insanely difficult for an intro to art history class.... trash
Very knowledgeable.
Prof. Law graded and commented on all the assignments, and I learned while working with students in the class sessions. I enjoyed it, and learned so much about architecture and art in fun classes.
This course was my fun class, and I love art. If we could meet in person it would be better. Zoom was usually used in creative work.
I liked the online format of the course, and it was okay to miss a few Zoom classes because the course was designed to keep you current. It was easy to follow along, and I liked group discussions.
I think I would have liked going to the museum, and meeting in classroom. The Zoom was good though. Group work was always different, which made it interesting.
This online course was reading and writing about art, and was also very clearly designed. I followed it with no problems, and Professor Law always responded if I had questions on email.
Zoom class had more group discussion than lectures, I thought it was enjoyable. I would take a zoom again with her.
I had to borrow a textbook and she helped me get it. Really loved the class and Prof.
Lacks in providing feedback on forum posts and provides short unhelpful responses to emails.
Our professor responded to emails and included discussion post perspectives also with some comments and suggestions. Each time I asked. Prof. Law was extremely helpful and supportive! I would work with this Prof. in another semester.
If I had this course again I would make sure to get the book, and to contact the teacher with my questions early in the semester. Loved to learn about architecture, and also the many art works.
Just do not ask for attentive help unless you really want to hear a lot about your questions, because she is so communicative and careful to make sure I understand. I learned so much.
You should take advantage of offers for extra help and extra credit, class participation is important. I worked but learned everything intro. about art and also architecture.
I like online courses because I can go at my own pace and decide when to submit work. The new subject of Art History was great for me this way!
I did not think I could like Art History but the teacher made it good to learn more.
Law is ok. Assignments get super repetitive and instructions are always unclear. 20 minutes to explain something that could have been said in three sentences. Its not hard, you have two writing assignments, two exams, and SO SO SO MANY discussion boards. Its all you do. I could not tell you a single thing about art history after this class.
So many discussion boards. Two short papers. One midterm and one final, both are writing assignments. Hardly learned anything at all. Really monotonous coursework. Almost zero feedback for assignments. Slow grader. Doesn't clearly answer questions over email.
This Prof. made sure that by the end of the semester we could all write and think about art, sometimes we worked independently, and sometimes in groups. I preferred to go to the classes and do the groups.
It was very intense at first. I liked it when she allowed the choice for me to write and read independently, and work in groups and discussions at times. Her introductory lectures, 20 minutes at the longest time, are good.
There was sometimes a lot of reading, but the Professor helped me on email with questions and chats. The writing in groups and alone was helpful to learn how to be an Art Historian and think like the critic. I wish we had more architecture as I love both, maybe more the buildings.
I did learn that knowing the history of art and architecture can help make better art! Sometimes if there was a lot of work that week, the Professor helped me make a plan to work with my other classes for balance. I think she was very supportive to me and the class.
I took the all online one, asynchronous. The flexibility is what I love, and it added to my love of art. I found it very easy and fun, and finding my own times to work was my favorite part of this format. It was relaxed and a pleasure!
Unfortunately I had to drop the class due to lack of response to emails. For a professor who teaches exclusively online this was extremely frustrating. I personally was very excited to learn about global art. I do not recommend
The prior review is a lie, because is the most responsive to emails of almost anyone I know. I was excited to learn about global art and architecture, and since I corresponded over email like an adult and stayed in this course I did learn so SO SO MUCH!
The course being easy is not important, but there was some work, ok amount. Architecture and some art are very interesting to me and I got what I was trying to learn. Some reading and writing practice, that's ok. I like pacing myself by when I can work best.
Took her class asychronously and it was very easy. Short discussion board posts each week and two (short and easy) writing assignments throughout the semester. There is a midterm/final, but they are both really easy. There is a required textbook, but I did not get it and I got an A so it is not necessary to buy it. Easy A, take it asynchronously
I am not really sure why this professor has a 5/5 rating? So far at Bridgewater this has by far been my least favorite professor. She DOES NOT respond to emails. She will explain the class assignment in less than a minute and expect you to process the 5 things she makes you do. MANY discussion posts, like constant although and so passive aggressive
I appreciate Prof. Law's replies to questions sent over email and in class, there was no question she didn't answer. When the assignments are explained they are also available in writing on Blackboard. The complaining all the time students wasn't paying attention maybe.
Law answers email and questions always, but this did not make the course easy for me. I took it and kept working at it because I love architecture and art, and learned everything I could. She said she wanted to help, and always did when we asked her.
I recommend the asynchronous course, it was very clear and not a huge workload. Prof. made it a joy to learn everything about a world of art and architecture -- there is SO MUCH TO SEE!
ARTH114 does not exist as a course at Bridgewater, so the student who wrote this other review was clearly a fraud. I have never met anyone at Bridgewater who has been more responsive, helpful, and caring about me and my learning. There is no way I could call the class hard, I loved it!
The class work load is not bad: two short writing assignments, midterm, final, a weekly discussion, and some exercise during class. She's not a bad grader and emails back in a few days. The only thing that made me dislike this course was her attitude she could be very rude when you ask questions and make you feel dumb.
I have not met a more attentive and responsive person at our university, and additionally Prof. Law is very knowledgeable about art and architecture and is a great teacher -- Ask her so many questions!
This Professor cares about all of her students. I personally was helped three times this semester through very difficult circumstances. Professor Law is very patient, but some students are always distracted and ignore everything then blame everyone else. It is a frustrating thing to witness.
I did not think the course was easy, because it was my first time reading and writing about Art. But the Professor made me love it. I felt like I wanted to keep trying, and then learned so much!
It was by far my favorite course, loved the material we studied. This Professor was so trusting and helpful to allow me the flexibility needed to learn in a happy way. It was refreshing.
Took this class with Professor Law online to fulfill a requirement. Sent her one email asking a question and she was very rude and snarky in her answer. If you like a teacher who grades things in a respectful and timely manner, she is not the teacher to take. We have one week left of class, and she has graded 2 things thus far.
By far the worst class I have taken yet, she doesn't really help her students, but gives snarky remarks. Also she is very bad at giving directions for in class assignments.
The course was very clear and easy to follow, the professor always provided answers I understood and the guidance we asked for. It was very enjoyable to learn about art and architecture this way and I'd do another Synchronous course with her!
I do not know what kind of thing a snarky is exactly, but this professor is caring of the students, responsive, and attentive. I do not believe that no clear answers were given to any students when genuinely asking. I loved art before but much more now, and the professor was fair and easy to work with. I am taking architecture with her this summer!
I wanted her to teach an Asynchronous version of this course, as I liked the Online 104 as asynchronous. I thought the Synchronous class was fun, but I like more flexibility when I can find it. The Prof. was helpful and always responded with replies that were careful and clear.
Asynchronous meant that I had complete control over when the work was completed and submitted, and this was what I enjoyed the most I think. Art and architecture taught by this professor are fun and the pace was perfect for me. I only had one question and Prof. Law clarified it immediately.
I agree that I'd like to take her asynchronous Arth 103 course soon! The choice to participate when it's best for me was perfect, and I really liked learning this way. As a teacher she was always there, and caring and fair to me.
I liked working together on the Synchronous problem sets and ideas, and thinking about each other's work. Law is very sharp and responds to absolutely everything immediately!
This professor was helpful for guidance in each project, paper, post, and question. I was always receiving replies on emails within about a day.
The subjects were the most interesting part for me, as an asynchronous class the Professor was mostly just providing guidelines and did this clearly always. It was fair and full of interesting topics. I would do another topics course.
I will only take asynchronous classes now, I'm sure this is the best format for me. The responses from Dr. Law were very helpful! I'm grateful for the rhythm of the course.
Dr. Law is responsive! I agree that asynchronous is also my favorite way to go. I will try the lectures for the other half beginning of next semester to see.
Synchronous online was the best. The professor helped us work in groups at times and independent work was also allowed sometimes. A mix was my favorite way to learn about architecture and art.
I also liked the choices and different formats of the Synchronous art history class. Law was helpful and very clear a smart professor.
If you were in our class then you noticed a helpful and fun Prof who answered questions and emails as best she could. Maybe you are the mean one, and maybe you could have talked to her about your feelings instead of being a sneak? I think Law helped with everything I needed help with, and more, so really loved this course and the person who helped.
I did not know about art and did not expect to like a requirement. I had a good time with Law and learning art especially that architecture is a part of this course. Answers messages and raised hands both. I like Synchronous Online the best now for the groups.
Asynchronous Online is the format of this course, and I prefer it, with a choice to pace myself and the flexible work arrangements. I was never left with a question unanswered until the topic was clarified and I think she cared about her students I think the below comments are hurtful and unfair to make to Professor Law.
Prof Law always seemed agitated at our class. Many days she would be waffling and I couldn't understand what exactly she wanted us to do, and I listened intently. Workload is on the lighter side with word count for tasks. She's very knowledgeable about the subject, but not sure if I would take her again due to clarity issues for assignments.
I like the Online Synchronous course format because it gives me a chance to tke the course where I am, at home or close to where I'm working at the time.
The choice to take the course online as Asynchronously or Synchronously is important for me, and I love to learn about architecture and also art at times. I would do the other half also with the Prof.
I like the online asynchronous course for learning about art. There is time to look at the art and architecture and no pressure to follow their schedule.
Law is extremely knowledgeable about both art and architecture, and clearly loves to teach it to those learning.
I agree Prof. knows a lot and wants me to know a lot also.......
she isn't clear about what she wants you to do in class then gets annoyed when you ask for her help or when you're confused.........also yaps until the very last second of class which is unhelpful to students that have a short window of time to get from one class to another.
She makes no sense, doesn't provide clear instructions, expects you to understand whatever she's talking about with no clarification, and doesn't provide help. She also has attitude.
Law was among the most helpful and generous I have met last Fall, my first semester. She helped with each question, then textbook, and my plans. I love art.
The Synchronous Online was my best kind of class, and I liked the online group work, Zoom, and help sessions for office hours. Beyond this art and architecture, and travel are topics I would study more with this Professor.
If there was one thing she provided too much of it was too much help and over clarity. The Professor often had to dwell due to those who cannot understand anything well. Some students are so slow, and that is the annoying. Learning about the architecture and art was worth it, I'd do it again.
I agree Prof. knows a lot and wants me to know a lot also....... All Prof. does is provide help, and more help and clarification, I do not for a second believe these were any students in our class if they say it like this.
Agree all she does is provide clarity and help this must be a bogus review. Who uses the word Yapping anyways? Prof. Law cares, is helpful, is available, and wants me to succeed I am convinced. Take again.
I'm taking it again, before I did the first half and now asynchronous for the 2nd. The clueless and whining classmates detract I wish they would stop wasting our time and the Professor's time. She was only ever helping and generous also. We are studying to learn t knowledge she provides.
Lectures are great and helpful and the course is not much to handle with my other majors. Keep it and take it!
I did not find this difficult, and I love art and architecture. Maybe do asynchronous next time but it is worth it with this Prof. either one.
Wish Prof. Law lectured more often because I have more learning with the lectures than when I talk to my classmates. The flexibility is the most important part. I like architecture, and especially love Art! Taking the next half soon, online not the classroom this time.
We think a cheater puts up fake and hurtful comments right before enrollments time, not our class. The Professor was only helpful and the lectures were fine to learn by. I also recommend online and asynchronous with this Prof.
There is reservation in me to take courses not online because of work scheduling, and the asynchronous course allows flexibility. I took the other half as lecture also. I liked the Professor and her lectures, but I really need the time flexibility more than a classroom.
I only take online courses when they are offered and highly recommend this one for both if its available.
I would not study art or architecture with another here. I loved it! The Prof. is decent and honest also fair.
took this class as a core requirement. Class was easy to attend. Sometimes was let out early. There was a few assignments all semester and they were all fairly easy. No tests or quizzes which was nice. Her lectures sometimes are confusing because her sentences are word heavy but id take her again for an easy A.
She is a great, kind, and knowledgeable professor. She is lecture heavy, but then you typically go into groups to analyze art pieces. Her genuine interest in the subject can make anyone who isn't into art at least consider getting into it. She does talk a lot, but it makes time go by faster. Overall, I have nothing negative to say about her.
I liked the synchronous meetings. Online is better and I agree the Prof. cares and is interested in my learning. I like art, and I would take one on architecture next time also.
I agree that the course is not hard but gives an intro to art, which is why I took her and think it was a great one! She understood when I asked for help and was flexible when I had a problem.
It was a very reasonable introduction to art and I would recommend synchronous online or asynchronous online, but the lectures in the classroom were okay I guess. I like online. Work load was fine, grading fair. Nice person.
103 was not the half I preferred, after 104 with this same Prof. I am glad that I did 103 in the classroom because it was with class group work and I liked it. The Professor was great for both times I was in class.
I recommend online learning, and the flexible plans and organization are very helpful. The actual person as professor clearly cares and always responds as interested in what I know. I like asynchronous but will do synchronous also to be online.
There are not very many assignments, and also large amounts of time to do one. I like this better I can work at my own pace. In classroom is okay, but I was more comfortable at my own pace in the online section over the other in a classroom.
Easy class with minimal assignments. Professor was helpful though lectures could be wordy. Definitely take this course, and consider using unstuck ai alongside the textbook for efficient study prep.
I understand that she is very passionate about Art History but she is the most passive aggressive professor I have ever had. She was very unclear about a lot of things and was not very respectful when it came to questions, clarifications, and just basic day to day responses.
This is online, so of course the teacher always responds to emails and office hour requests. The last person cannot have been serious about learning art and architecture. The second class I've taken with her, and the Professor is absolutely great and helpful all the time!
Would not learn about art and architecture with another professor here, she always guided us even when they asked dumb and most obvious things. Some students never read or listened to anything she gave to class. It was so obvious they were way out of it.
This was my favorite course and teacher of the semester. It was comfortable, easy, and I learned more than I thought I ever would. Art and architecture were very different to me at first and now I look at everything.
The professor cares a great amount and it is clear. She always helps us and is responsive. I'd take the other half of art and architecture online also. She is wonderful!
decent class, would have preferred to take it in person rather than online.
She's a great teacher, light grader, reaches out to see how you're doing, and is free to set up zoom to answer questions and offer help. the only thing was that the writing was a lot for me but shes not too picky with it and as long as you answer the prompt, you'll be good.
Doesn't post grades on blackboard so you don't really know your grade but an easy class.
I took her 104 class asynchronously, and it was not difficult. She asks you to buy a textbook, but her slideshows are enough to get by. She gives weekly discussion posts about 300 words with 3, 2-3 page papers throughout the semester, which are not difficult. SHE DOES NOT POST GRADES EXCEPT PAPERS! If you like knowing your grade, do not take her.
This was a Prof. who cared about the students and took the time to explain everything. Always respected and responded to emails with care. Also the exams and papers were well explained and graded. Person before did not take our class.
There was some group work in class and reading for homework, not difficult to do, and the lectures were the best part. The Professor is very knowledgeable and I love art and architecture now.
In the online asynchronous course I could go at my own pace, find grades, ask questions with email. She always was responsive and helpful. I love art but like to pace it my way.
Law was clear and the synchronized format was fun to work together and sometimes individually. Grades were clear and I thought assignments easy for me. I take the second half this way like architecture and art.
In our classroom meeting Prof. Law was always adding new material exciting to understand and know. I took both courses with this professor because the responses were clear and helpful, and the attention to details helped too.
I liked to work online from where I was but in groups and directly with Prof. Law so this was great. The lectures were helpful and clear like the exercises. I also will take the next one probably. Learned so much about art and architecture.
The first half I took online, then preferred the in class meetings and lectures more. Law is knowledgeable and without the classroom we did not hear as much about the art and architecture also from this professor. This is why the classroom was important I think to the overall course.
The synchronized online option is the best choice of all because there are independent and in classroom options. Art is most exciting with this approach through the formats of flexibility.
The course Law teaches is ARTH104, this person or bot cannot even get the correct course number. This is slanderous and untrue about a caring and helpful person. Prof. Law is supportive. Moreover, I learned so much about subjects I love, art and architecture, and will take the other half.
I took the second half as lecture course 103, her lectures are amazing. I learned so much about art. Knowledgeable.
Also would take Law's lecture course, she cares and is supportive with her students. She wants them to succeed and I learned tons.
The synchronous online class is the best one because there is the professor and also flexibility. Also a chance to work in groups, which is a fun way to learn architecture and art! Would do online synchronous again.
Easy A if you just complete everything, but she barely uses blackboard
