Read your notes and the pages that she recommends. Make sure you do the work. Most importantly use the study guide and you will do fine. There is a lot of extra credit offered I recommend you do them. Oh yeah and don't miss a test, if you do it will be accumulative! Good luck!
Is concerned with students' knowledge. very helpful and knowledgable. You need to do the study guide because all but maybe 1 question per test come from it.
was a great teacher. I learned a lot in her class. it was a night class scheduled for three hours and she was good about giving breaks. she is very helpful and offers a lot of extra credit. take nutrition with her, you'll do well.
took it online- very helpful, lots of extra credit
She was a wonderful lecturer. Very funny. Very informative. Very forgiving of those students who had little chemistry background. Highly recommend her to anyone needing this class.
Very knowledgeable with a great teaching style and personnality. ATTEND EVERY CLASS. Lots of info to know. BE READY TO STUDY!! But, lots of extra credit. Information useful for everyday life.
This teacher is great and has alot of real life experience in the field. She tells amusing stories. I just didnt like that sometimes we got alittle off topic.
Teacher was very good and explaining the information. She didn't have to read from a text book. You could tell she actually knew what she was teaching and had some background on the subject. She also cared about her students and took time to help with nutriontal questions and needs of students while in her class. I thought she had a very out going personality. And she made the class fun.
She definitely knows what she's talking about and that made her class a bit more interesting. It seemed she really wanted her students to do well.
I took this class online, and was terribly dissapointed. She treats her online students much differently then class students. Not everyone is able to attend campus, for example, some are over seas serving their countries. She made test times shorter, and provided more work. Just because its an online class doesnt mean it has to be harder.
Fun, energetic, personable professor. Willing to help outside of class, willing to reconsider grading, great at explaining things for non-science majors, lots of real-life application. This class by nature is difficult-- lots of info to retain-- but Amy makes it doable. Use the study guides! :-)
I took her online class and found it very interesting. She graded assignments in within one day or two and presented the course material in an organized manner. The chats and self-assignment questions were very helpful to get a very good grade in the chapter tests.
Took her online class. Tests are pretty hard. Take advantage of the extra credit she gives, helped me to keep my B. It is not an easy class by any means but she is very helpful and knowledgeable. Gives you plenty of time to complete tests and homework assignments.
This professor teaches in a manner you will succeed if you follow through. Great analogies are given. Material is taught in a manner everyone should learn. Drop rate is very low from this class. Very caring and understanding teacher and she wants you to understand and practice the material in life. Highly recommend without a doubt!!!
A great, high energy, funny, very knowledgable teacher. She will practically walk over hot coals to give her students as many options as possible when it comes to learning her class material. She gives good notes both on paper and online, posts pre-exam study questions, finds outside website sources, and hosts online chats. Take this professor!
The best teacher i've had in a LONG TIME. She was extemely nice, you can tell she loves her job. She was always there to answer questions, hosted online chats (for lecture section) a couple of times before exam time. Gives extra credit and doesnt take attendance, although you need to go to class to take full advantage of her explaining material A+
Dr. Amy is the greatest- she has her doctorate, knows her stuff, but is a relevant ans real as they come- LOVED her...She makes SO much available to you to prep for the exams, no excuse but laziness if you don't get an A! She offers tons of extra credit- no trick questions, she just wants to see the relevance of good nutrition be a part of our life
Amy is a high energy nut that makes learning fun. She has tons of life experience that she uses to drive the lesson home. I didn't use the book much at all because she hands out a packet. She does give out a lot of extra credit but for our class it was a max of 15 points. It was an easy class for me from just having A&P and Micro. harder for others
Dr. Allen is a wonderful teacher. Her teaching method is clear and concise. She is willing to stay after class and go over the concepts with you. I am a dietetics major and she helped me tremendously with apply to UMD. She even gave me a letter of recommendation. She also gives lots of extra credit!
This was a hard class. Studied for every exam and still did horrible because there was a 50 minute time limit on exams which hurt me. Would not round grade up. Gave extra credit though..Would not take this Prof. again.
I would not recommend taking this class online! She seems knowledgeable about the subject but what she expects from her online students is unreasonable. Gave a cumulative final with NO REVIEW. Interesting topic, a lot of work. Very Organized which is a plus. Gives extracredit throughout, doesn't really help people who do well on hw and bad on tests
Very tough teacher. Took her for an online class and had to withdraw. She gives you timed tests that are extremely difficult. Unless this is the obly class that you are taking, I wouldn't suggest taking hers.
Dr. Chabot is one of the best teachers I've had. She really loves and is into what she is doing, and it helps in class. Lots of work, but to do well you gotta do it! Gives lots of extra credit which is helpful.
I took the nutrition class online and I would not recommend it. She is very knowledgable and precise about things. The problem is she wants SOOO much detail remembered that it's hard to enjoy the class. Wouldnt recommend taking this online, may be better for a lecture
Took her for online nutrition. Loves what she does and knows everything by heart. Gives plenty extra credit and will be more than happy to work with your scheduale. Tough tests but in a good way. Know the story of the vocab not just the vocab itself. Fantastic person and teacher.
Great class! 4 tests, homework, and extra credit make up your grade. She provides review questions and vocab for each test so you know exactly what will be on each exam.
Tests are mainly multiple choice, gave easy homework, 18 points worth of e.credit, lectures were fun, very charismatic. Nutrition is a science class and it wasn't simple for me. Fairly easy to get a B in the class, but for an A you will have to put in the time. I had 4 classes on TT and nutrition was last and I never fell asleep!
My favorite teacher. She gave real life examples to material which not only made the material fun and enjoyable, but easier to remember. She gives a lot of chances for extra credit and the tests are usually multiple choice with a few short answer. This is a class you will definitely have to put some time into but it shouldn't be too terribly hard.
Love her! If you go to every class, do the homework and study for the tests you will recieve a good grade. I used the supplemental instructor often and that was very helpful. You get what you put into the course. As for Professor Allen-Chabot...she is a fireball, very funny too! Also, very passionate about Nutrition!
If you want to learn the material, take the class with her. She presents the material in a way that is interesting and easy to comprehend. However, you MUST study if you want an "A".
I took the online class and she provided us with lecture notes. The notes were priceless! I found that the answers to the exams were right there! Suggest strongly that you do the self assessments to study for exams and she offered a lot of chances for extra credit. She cares and is very willing to work with students. High Recommended!
Highly energetic and passionate professor. I would recommend her if you're taking nutrition. Her lectures in class are thorough & relevant to tests. She's is in the dietetics field and therefore a wonderful resource for any lingering question you'd have. Online resources and SI are invaluable to this course, use her self assessments to get an A!
A professor with the rare awesome combination of enlightenment and entertainment. If you hold up your end of the bargain and take hold of every opportunity for extra credit, use study groups, go to SI, and review the self assessments like it's your job you will get an A. And even if you don't care to do well in the course, you'll have a few laughs.
I took the online course. She is demanding, but you learn a lot!
Very helpful. Very knowledgeable. Wants to help you succeed. Is available to help during non class hours. You leave her class wanting to learn more. Funny with a great personality. I definitely recommend you take her class!!!
Took class online. many extra credit opportunities she wants you to succeed. Go off her lecture notes and prepare well for exams they are tightly timed. Very interesting class and very interactive for being online. do well on homeworks and do as much extra credit as you can and you can achieve an A
She is really fun- so much energy! She's really knowledgable; know answers + has stories about almost everything we cover which makes it more fun, + relevant. THIS CLASS IS NOT EASY THOUGH! i signed up thinking it would be an easy gen-ed science ITS NOT go to SI use self assessments lecture notes and you'll be ok just be prepared to work hard (:
Prof. Allen-Chabot is a wonderful biology professor. She is hilarious and has so much personality. She engages the whole callas room and every lecture is interesting. She provides SO many tools for success. DO the self assessments and read the online lecture and you will flourish in the class. This professor is smart, witty, and super helpful.
No. Just no. Tests are very hard. She bases tests off of power points and "study sheets" and there are still some questions on the test that aren't covered in class.
I will not lie, this class is hard, but she is a great teacher. It isn't just looking at what you should and shouldn't eat, it also goes over digestion of all the nutrients. She really wants you to succeed. If you are taking her online class you can come to her lectures if you want. She will do what she can to help you pass this class.
Took this course online. Professor is EXTREMELY helpful and gives detailed lectures to accompany every chapter along with homework assignments and chapter reviews that are extremely helpful. If you understand the concepts and don't just memorize, the exams are extremely easy. Plus she gives a lot of extra credit opportunities!!!
She was a great professor! She was great at explaining the material in a way everyone could understand. The handouts she gives for each module give you all the information you need. Fill those out, study them, and use the self-assessments and you will succeed.
The information is very cut and dry. Her test questions however, split hairs and I don't believe are asked in a very clear manner. I am a 4.0 student, complete all the assignments and do well on the test prep handouts, and haven't been able to get an A on an exam or homework assignment. She's tough.
The self assessments are not correlated with the tests whatsoever. Just study the notes for the test. Tests do not make much sense there are usually 4 distractor answers on the test and 1 real answer.
Professor Allen-Chabot was very nice and funny. Class was kind of a tough class but if you expect it and listen to what she tells you about tutoring and study guides, you'll do fine. She's very helpful if you ask questions. Provides a lot of study guides and assignments for every module. Also provides module outlines can be easy if use all material
Took as an online course. All written lectures online were very helpful as long as you read through them and tried to understand. Definitely had to work hard in this class. The tests were not easy, but if you study the self assessments, you can do well. Lots of easy extra credit that you need to do if you want an A. Would recommend!
Took course in person. Go to lecture, use all her online study sources and you will pass with an A. Final grade was a 99.7. Interesting course and easy A if you complete all assignments. Attend SI if possible. Study guides are the key to acing exams. DON'T BUY THE BOOK!
Her class was a bit intense, but she gave you all the tools needed to pass her class. Her reviews before the test were awesome. Her stories are funny and helped me to remember things when I got stuck on a test. What a great class. I learned so much about my eating habits and what I should be doing in the future. Great class. Great teacher.
She is hilarious! Her silly stories really helped me to remember a lot of the material. Go to class listen to her lecture, take notes, be entertained and learn. Then go home fill in the self assessment questions and study. I recommend the supplimental instruction and plenty of time to study. The tests are hard, but there are no tricks.
Her tests are tough! Took her online, read the lectures AND the chapters in the book! Fill out the self assessments on Canvas and use as a study guide for sure. Weekly assignments plus graded discussions. Participate!! It helps a lot. Also offers extra credit and is very helpful. Tough sometimes, but she's great.
She is the only teacher I've ever had who actually has taken the time to provide material that ensures her students do welllearn in the course. She's hysterical and is someone to look up to. The study guides are the test. Do them and you'll get an A. Some haters on here obviously didn't take advantage of all her study materials extra credit.
Really engaging with her lectures, cares about your questions. You need to study and learn the material. If you've had bio 101 or a&p before taking this class it will be easier, but it's not necessary. Overall she is an amazing teacher. I really enjoyed the semester with her.
She is really funny and she teaches the material very well. If you have has some science classes already (A&P and BIO 101) the class is a little easier. She gives you everything you need to study and the book is optional, but I would get it anyway just to reinforce the information. If you do all of the study guides you'll be fine for the tests
Best professor I have ever had. She has an awesome sense of humor which makes her lectures very fun. She gives you everything you could possibly need to do well. You can tell how much she cares about the course and her students. Definitely take her if you can!
Loved her lectures and she made sure to make the subject as interesting as possible! Didn't need the textbook, but I used the online material heavily especially the self assessment. It also helped that I had Bio, A&P 1 and 2 as well as Micro before this so I knew a lot going in. Not a super easy class, but if you put the effort in, you'll do fine.
A very good teacher, she is hard but she wants students to do their best. Gives lots of extra credit options. Be ready to study a lot for this class.
Gives you many resources to study from. Answers emails promptly. Will make complicated topics easier to understand and remember. Very approachable and willing to help you out. You won't be able to get a better professor for this subject. This is a great class to take with BIO 234 as it helped me tremendously once we got to the digestive system.
Allen-Chabot is one of the best professors I've had for a science class at AACC - her lectures are engaging and coherent, she's hilarious, and her tests are so straightforward (use the "lecture narratives" online!). It helped to go into it with A&P 1&2 behind me - made all the science stuff easy/review. Only buy the text if you haven't had A&P.
She is very clear about what material you will be tested on. She is enthusiastic about Nutrition and passionate during her lectures. She also connects the material to real-life situations that make you think deeper or make changes in your life outside of class.
-Very good lectures -Explains concepts well -Prepares you for upcoming quizzes and gives multiple study tools
She is a great professor. She really knows her stuff! If you put in the effort you can easily get at least a B, but you have to work for it. I will be finishing the semester with a C hopefully, but that is my own doing. She offers a limited amount of extra credit points. She is eager to help, all you have to do is ask!
She is by far the best nutrition teacher to take at AACC. She knows her stuff and clearly presents that. She knows the class if difficult and doesn't make it any harder than it has to be. She gives study guides for the test, and so long as you know them, you literally can't fail. She takes a hard class and makes it do-able. Excellent Professor.
I took her class online and would recommend others to do so also if you like online classes. Only one small quiz and one homework assignment each week. Assignments are usually very easy. Only 4 tests and lots of extra credit chances! Also very quick feedback if I ever had a question. Didn't really use the book much.
Dr. Allen-Chabot is what has made nutrition so enjoyable these last few weeks. She's hilarious, informative, passionate and talented. She gives many extra credit opportunities, has clear grading criteria, tests are a little hard and there's a fair amount of homework due. I highly recommend to anyone in need of a nutrition credit!
She is a solid teacher and made things very clear. She made lecture outlines which you fill in during lectures and she provides the power points, study guides, and other recourses via canvas. There are also times when she does a review chat online and I found looking at those very helpful on exams. She goes over a lot of what is on the test.
Best teacher ever ! she is hilarious and makes the material clear and provides many alternatives to studying and extra credit opportunities.
Great Professor! She explains things well and is energetic all throughout the lecture, making them actually entertaining! She does expect you to study a lot and gives you a lot information all at once. Offers tons of help and extra credit!
Dr. Chabot was an excellent professor! She gave out tons of extra credit and made sure you had numerous resources to study from. She's a fair grader and all of her lectures and examples are as clear as can be. The material covered could be a bit challenging if you have no biology background but her examples make it easy to learn.
BIO 135 is a difficult class in my opinion, but taking it with Professor Allen-Chabot makes it less difficult. She holds countless review sessions and is always available to meet outside of class if need be. She offers lots of extra credit so take advantage of it because her tests are tough!! Do the self-assessment questions and study hard!
Dr. Allen-Chabot is one of the best professors you will have in college. She is very passionate about nutrition and her energy is infectious. She gives fantastic lectures and posts loads of review material online, if you don't pass it's your own fault! DO THE SELF ASSESSMENTS AND YOU WILL PASS!!!!
Funny, relatable lectures.
she is the one of the best professor.i love dr. chabot. she has incredible knowledge about course. very easy course if you do study guide. exam ques. straight from study guide. study guide is long and time consuming but if you do study guide then its an easy A. i learned so much in this course and its all about this amazing professor. take her.
My favorite professor . If you did the study guides , asked questions and paid attention to lecture easy A . She was always looking for ways to help her students understand the material . She made it super interesting , gave great notes on papers and encouraged everyone to improve . Shes so funny , really looked forward to this class .
One of my favorite professors. Gives so much Extra Credit. Do the Self Assessments and homework and youll pass the exams. Gives so many opportunities for help and makes it so easy to succeed if you try. Lecture notes line up perfectly and exams are only what you learn in class.
One of my all-time favorite teachers. Her lectures are awesome and information packed. She really cares about your grade and offers extra help. She is up-beat and taking nutrition with her has really helped me in my personal life and how I view food. Doing the self-assessments are necessary and she gives extra credit.
I really enjoyed Professor Allen-Chabot's class. She has hilarious lectures that are easy to follow. She provides many resources to guarantee our success. For example she offers extra credit (it does have a limit, but is still a very generous amount), typed lectures, and more. The study guide is the sames as the test. You will learn SOO much!
She is very fast at answering your emails! I absolutely loved having Professor Allen-Chabot as my bio nutrition professor. She is very informative and gets straight to the point. She is very helpful in breaking down her lectures. Do not be afraid to send her a message through canvas whenever you do not understand something from a chapter.
I liked Ms. Allen but she is a very picker grader. Tests heavy. You have to be knowledgeable in the material to come into this class to do good. Majority of my class already took A&P before so it was a breeze. She said she would be basing her content on it as well so it was challenging. Hardly extra credit and if there was time was unreasonable...
My favorite professor of the semester! She teaches you the material that you need to know while also providing side-bar stories to break up the monotony of lectures. She cares about her students and will do what she can to help you understand the material. Highly recommend!
She is a very nice teacher and can help you any time if needed, but when it comes to test, studying will not get you far. Her test require you to know the information to a professional degree. I was fortunate enough to know a personal nutritionist and even she didn't understand her tests. This class isn't just for someone to learn basic nutrition!
I really enjoyed the class, although it was difficult. If you have a hard time with tests, make sure to study a lot. Personally am not great at tests, so that would of been helpful to know.
Professor Allen-Chabot was a great professor, she gave a great deal of help, extra credit, the homework load wasn't too much, and she gave you everything you needed in order to pass with flying colors.
This professor is amazing, she is very helpful and kind. While the work is a lot and you need to make sure you study, the overall class was okay. As long as you make sure you're on track you can pass.
I have never had a professor care more about my learning than Dr. Allen-Chabot. She is truly amazing and will give personal responses to everything you turn in. The class itself is tough, but very doable. Exams are pretty hard but if you do the study guide you should be good. Absolutely recommend Dr. Allen-Chabot.
I didnt have a choice but to take this professor because she has a higher review than the other professor that the school offers. So pretty much she is the best out of the worst. She gives a lot of unnecessary work and her test consist of 50 questions. This is just a preqs why does it have to be so difficult? I dropped the class.
Dr. Allen-Chabot is very knowledgeable and willing to help you if you are having trouble. She is also approachable and kind. The course is slightly difficult and requires a lot of studying; you have to read the course material diligently or will not pass this class. The course also has slightly large quizzes of 50 MCQ's. This class is doable.
She is a very good professor and helpful. I really recommend her. She inspired me to eat healthy with her BIO 135 class. I learned a lot
I had her online for principles of nutrition and really enjoyed her teaching and content. Would definitely take a class from her again.
Teaches lectures well but has students go online to learn rest of course. By the time you need to take a test, it is difficult due to lack of learned material.
Primarily talking about lecture material. Not clearly communicated.
Dr. Amy cares about her students, and she's made it known since the very first class. We were allowed 18 points of EC which helped to boost our grades tremendously. She also provides you with the lecture handout/narrative & self-assessment tools to keep you on track. The class is hard, but with everything she provides, it's hard to fail.
Dr. Chabot cares about her students. You can see that with the lesson plans she writes out for her students. They are very clear and descriptive about what it is you need to learn, and she has these lecture handouts so it makes taking notes easier. She also holds chat reviews a few days before every exam. Highly recommend taking her!
The structure and excessiveness of Dr. Chatbot's exams is frustrating. The class is extremely test-heavy and has odd wording for each question. I did not enjoy my time in class. While an interesting class, it goes extremely in-depth for what is ultimately a 100 level course. Seeing students get Cs regularly for a nutrition prereq is disheartening
I don't think there's a possible way that someone could say that this professor does not care- I think it's clear that she does. She does a good job at making it known that she cares. However, the test material is just too difficult. The reading lectures are too much. The concepts are too in-depth and difficult to retain. Really difficult class.
She is absolutely amazing. Assignments were always do-able in a timely fashion, the course is very fascinating, materials were very organized, she gave us additional study tools, the material always connects with previous lessons, professor was always available for help if needed, she gave multiple extra credit assignments.
She is amazing! Took online but her lectures have these online videos where she steps you through the information. Always willing to answer questions and help students. She responses fast and leaves great comments on assignments to learn from. The material has some tough spots, but if you are willing to make time to study she is willing to help.
Took Principles of nutrition online and really enjoyed it. Assignments were reasonable and she provided legit feedback and was very nice and accessible.
Her lecture notes were everything you need to complete this class.
She is so passionate about nutrition, makes learning fun, and is personable. It's 4 exams + HW. She gives you everything you need to do well. The content is harder than you think but her study guides, lecture notes, in-class Kahoot quizzes (not graded), exam reviews are all very helpful. Willing to answer questions and explain tough concepts well.
Dr. Allen-Chabot was a phenomenal professor (very knowledgeable). She has clinical experience, anecdotal evidence, & academia to back up her information. If you study the lecture notes and answer the questions, you will retain the knowledge and pass with flying colors. You cannot be lazy as there is tons of material. This class is life changing!
DO NOT EVER TAKE HER FOR AN ONLINE COURSE!!! She has designed a comically difficult online course for a literal nutrition prereq. For whatever reason you need an external webcam for the exams (not the one built into your computer because she needs to see your surroundings or some nonsense like that) and her exams are 50 questions in 50 minutes!!
Made the material a lot easier to understand and overall a great professor!
nutrition was way harder than I thought, but also very interesting. As a computer science student, I didn't expect that.
I took this class online and the material was well organized and easy to understand. Some of the concepts can be difficult but she does a good job of explaining what you need to know and provides a study guide for each exam. She grades assignments in a timely manner and provides feedback, and there are plenty of opportunities for extra credit.
Amy is the best professor!!! So fun and engaging - her lectures are worth attending and are important for doing well on exams. There is an assignment and quiz for each module which is super helpful when assessing how much you know before the exam. She also posts a bunch of study tools! Easy to get an A if you pay attention, take notes, and study!
AMAZING! She was a great teacher! Hard class but she teachers great and will answer all of your questions, great feedback and has so much information! Hard work is required.
She was very present during the course and offered so much encouragement! Her assignments had no fluff, just what we needed to understand the material. She was the best online teacher I have had.
She was very understanding if you needed an extension. She gives you plenty of time between assignments. If you don't do well on an exam, she will reach out and see if you want to go over it. Very helpful, made the class interesting, very nice, very caring, and overall I would take her as a professor any day. The class itself isn't bad, just study!
Dr. Allen-Chabot is a dream Professor. She gives you relatable content. Yes, you have to read and you have to try but youll be thankful you did. Especially if youre looking to get into nutrition, Fitness or health related fields. I cant say enough amazing things about her.
One of the best professors I have EVER had. Her lectures are great and hilarious. I'm not even a science major but she did help me grow a love and appreciation for the subject! Would definitely take her again. Her expectations as far as assignments go are clear and she offers extra credit. The material is tough but she makes it digestible!
Dr. Allen-Chabot makes the course engaging and manageable. With the help of unstuckstudy and the textbook, I was able to do well. Attendance is key, and the workload is reasonable.
Prof. Allen-Chabot was an excellent instructor. She is very knowledgeable about the subjects for this course. Pay close attention to the screencasts provided for each module. The discussion section is a great resource for your studies, as well as the online StudyMate activities. Lecture notes/book are also great resources to succeed in the class.
She was very helpful and kind. She is very knowledgeable The lectures can be very long and time-consuming but the assignments align well and are easy to understand. (My grade is low because I am the world's worst test taker, on the assignments I always got an A or a high B)
