really good teacher! willing to help you out
No Comments
Tests can be a little hard if you don't study, she is very helpful with any questions you may have.
Took it during the mini term and it was a lot easier. Two speeches, one group presentation, 4 tests. She gave us plenty of time to get the work finished - she's very nice and helpful.
Amy is an awesome teacher...

the best class...just study for the test, and this class will be a breeze.
great teacher. She's okay looking... however she is very nice. Fair. Grade easy. Tests aren't bad. Overall I really like her. Pay attention to her notes cause they're more important then reading the book.
Amy is very helpful and very nice! She has a great attitude and is upbeat.
SO easy. All you have to do is go to class, copy some notes from a power point, and give 2 speaches, I loved her. Super helpful too.
Really easy to get along with. Very helpful. Easy grader, easy work, easy tests (if you study a little). nice. let's you out of class early and cancels class
amy is awesome! she is very helpful and is an easy grader. if you study a tiny bit her tests are really easy. she's just a cool lady and wants you to do well in the class
Amy is the hottest, coolest, most all around rad teacher at UNR. Her class is challenging, but manageable, and she is a blast to interact with during class. Fill in your notes during class, at least skim the reading, and study up a few nights before the tests.
Loved Amy! She has a great, funny personality...very approachable and helpful. She genuinely wants to have you learn the information. Good class.
good teacher
Amy is a genuine person. The class is not hard but you have to give it the time it deserves. She is pregnant so classes do not usually run the full length but sometime they do. For exams she says you will fail if you do not use the text, but I got 100% and do not own the book.
Overall grade did not reflect work and understanding of material. I got A's and B's on the tests, enjoyed the class, and because of the way she graded our written work I barely got a B in the class even after taking all papers to the writing center and editing over and over.
Gave everything I could to this class. Completely understood the material and still barely got a B-.
Amy is the best teacher I've had in my college career. I genuinely enjoyed her class, she is funny, nice and cares about her students. If you study your butt off the night before a test, you will do good. Her tests are very hard, so dont slack off. But her classes are well worth taking.
if you have to take this class do it over wintermester with amy! she is the best teacher i've ever had. she's easy to get along with, super understanding, funny, and explains things clearly. her tests are easy, there are no surprises, just read from the notes the night before, focusing on key words. she will go out of her way to help her students!
take notes, memorize slides and vocabs, fairly easy but grading is subjective bc of essays and paper, was one point away from a solid A so, was extremely disappointed since i felt i worked really hard in the class.
Honestly the best teacher i've ever had. she is super nice, fun, friendly, helpful, clear...this class was great. definitely recommend talking during miniterm especially if you dont like public speaking-only 1 individual speech & 1 group presentation. loved this class and i never thought i would!!!
She is completely unhelpful and punishes students with bad grades for missing class. She refuses to help students who are having difficulty in class and believes that it's "not her job" to help students. Her words. She should take a look at her job description. She definitely doesn't have any real world work experience.
This class was really intriguing. Amy was a great professor because she was extremely clear in what she expected in us. The essays were a breeze, I got 100% on all 3 and I'm not a good writer. We even watched movies for a few of the classes. Great class, I highly recommend.
Amy is the funniest professor I have had at UNR. She is well spoken and knows her stuff, though often her teachings get lost in translation. The lectures are useless and she doesn't make you feel passionate for COM like other COM professors. Amy is a great person, but not a great professor. Take 113 with someone else over winter/summer if you can.
She is not a good professor. You will think she is until she starts grading assignments. She marks you down on things that were never specified in the assignment. She is partial to certain people or groups. Also, Sometimes she'll mark you down for things she told you to do. I wouldn't suggest taking to anyone. You'll think she's nice but she's not.
She is a mean grader. She'll mark you down on a test for things she said during class. She likes some students opposed to others and grades them accordingly. Worst of all,if you ask her about this or for help, she turns totally mean and won't help at all. Terrible teacher but she seems nice in class.
I had Amy for the Spring semester and loved the class. I was only taking it to fill a requirement but by the end of the class I was completely hooked on the subject. She is a hard grader on the tests and speech but overall really tries to help and makes the class very interesting. Would recommend taking her to anyone.
Amy is a great lecturer. I also found her to be very helpful with both the paper and the exams. She is funny, and made me interested in the subject.
Amy is a great teacher and I would recommend her class to anyone. If you do the work and pay attention it's really easy. The assignments are fair and she explains everything. She always throws in some humor which make the class very enjoyable!
Very easy A. I recommend taking this course during wintermester. We got out early every day. We had one, two-page paper, double spaced. Two easy vocabulary tests and one group presentation. Great class. Amy is a great teacher, fun, and interested. Especially for such a boring topic.
I wasn't really interested in this class, but Amy made it interesting and seemed really enthusiastic about the subject. I actually stayed awake during lecture and spent very little time studying for tests, so it was an easy class for me. I would definitely recommend her as a professor to have! Definitely does her best to keep class interesting.
Really good teacher I wish she taught more CHS classes. She has a lot of respect for her students and understands that we have things going on outside of class.
Amy Arias is a wonderful instructor who truly has her students' best interest in mind. She is entertaining, bubbly, and warm welcoming! I would suggest her! She can be a tough grader, but if you follow the guidelines you will be golden. She understands her material thoroughly and is interested in the topic herself.
She is the sweetest professor ever. Every class began with out of class discussions and she got to know everyone on a personal level. She was very in tune with what we as a class wanted to do. Her tests were a little hard, but the online ones we could use our book and notes. Do not hesitate to take her class!
Amy is a great teacher! She is so nice and bubbly, and she geuinely seems to care about her students. All her tests are online and you're allowed to use your books and notes to take it. She explains the concepts pretty well, and you get to do a movie analysis. Overall, I didn't have a problem with her so I would reccomend taking her if you can.
Amy is a great teacher! She is very helpful and allows students to use their notes for her tests which are all online. She is also very personable and entertaining.
I loved this class. Amy made lectures very interesting and I enjoyed attending them. The tests are not bad as long as you study the key terms in the book. The group campaign was also fun and a great way to end the class.
Amy is an amazing teacher! You can tell she really cares about her students and will go the extra mile to help you out. She is very clear about what she looks for. If you go to class and actually pay attention you will easily pass this class with a B or better. Love her, she is super sweet and understanding! If you have the chance, take this class!
Amy is probably one of the best instructors I have had in my college career. She makes coming to class easier, especially in those summer term sessions. Great she is and I will definetly recommend her to anyone who asks.
Harsh grader, got A's on both exams and ended up with a B because of the way she grades essays. Definitely favorites particular students and it's shown in her grading. She's a nice person, but wouldn't recommend her class.
Amy is really sweet and her class isn't very difficult. You really just have to complete the assignments correctly and on time. I enjoyed my time in her class. It was the only class I liked last semester.
She is an awesome professor! I took it during Mini Session and loved it. She is so passionate about the subject of communication and the class is really easy because she lets you know exactly what she is looking for. You'll learn all about how people communicate about their health and why. Take her if you can, you won't regret it!
Amy is awesome! Fun, energetic, and super knowledgable. She sympathizes with the students and will negotiate due dates for a less stressful environment. Tests are usually online and hope you like romances cause there are two movie analysis's on communication using rom coms. LOVE HER
She is nice and funny but an EXTREMELY tough grader. I'm a junior and she is the hardest grader that I have had so far in my college career. I am an A student but this class is truly a challenge to get an A in.
Amy is an amazing instructor. She has a great way of communicating with students to make it an enjoyable environment while still learning the material. Her classes do require work, but she gives students all the information, and a ton of opportunities for feedback and good grades. I would love to have her again, and I would recommend her to anyone.
Amy is a wonderful professor. The exams were online and she gave students plenty of time to take them. Reading the textbook and class notes is the key to doing well on exams. Her assignments are pretty straightforward. She makes her lectures interesting and encourages students to provide their ideascomments.
She's the best professor I had in my entire college career. This was a winter class and it was beyond easy. She's a very fair grader and is very laid back and nice.
She's joyful and hands down best class ever.
Amy is AWESOME. She is super bright and cheery all the time, she knows the material really well, and she's always there to help you. There were some weeks where we didn't have to show up for class at all. Overall it's a pretty laid back and fun class. Definitely recommend taking this class with her.
Amy is a saint! She is literally the best teacher I've ever had. She is so personal and understands any circumstances. She expects you to follow guidelines an expectations to the T, but does give incredible feedback and room for revision. I strongly advise taking her. She is so knowledgeable and so passionate and it really shows.
Amy is an amazing person. This is a public speaking class but makes everyone comfortable. She takes attendance and there are 4-5 speeches but always helps you improve. The class was fun and the final is an online test that's pretty easy. I would definitely recommend taking her, I was actually sad when this class ended! Don't need to buy the book.
she is a good person. However she is extremely strict when it comes to grading, her classes are straightforward but she really does expect her students to follow the guidelines she sets out in her assignments to the dot.
WOW I have never been happier with a fasttrack class. Lots of work, early outs often but only to work on a huge project. She was super funny and energetic also. Take her you'll be super stoked
She is very friendly and nice. However, grades are very slow to get back to students. I did not learn much from the material. She marked a student down 20 percent on a reference page for having too many staples so I think her grading is not based on content but more on strict following of her instructions.
She is so passionate about what she teaches and cares so much about her students! The midterm, final, and weekly quizzes are super easy, a couple other assignments, and a group project. Tests/quizzes are just on vocab and some of the main concepts in the textbook. She grades hard for her APA reference page & group project but offers help! Loved her
Professor Arias is such a doll. She is super funny and is passionate about the subject she teaches. One thing that she does lack is consistency. She changes the due dates to quizzes to definitely make sure that you know the due date or else. It is hard to get the A because she does not add much to your grade so really.... every point counts.
Amy is such a kind soul! You can tell she's very passionate about communications & she always adds a little humor. There is no final, but the class did consist of 2 exams & one big final project. The project is worth a lot so make sure you do everything right & on time! It's a pretty easy class, unless you mess up on the project (so don't)
Amy is awesome! She was always engaged during class and she really went out of her way to make sure her lecture content could be understood. We really delved into the textbook though, so make sure you have it! It was really helpful for her tests as well. I would definitely take a class with her again.
Amy was amazing, she truly cares about the subject she teaches which makes learning the material even easier. Loved each assignment, and genuinely learned the content. Would definitely recommend.
Amy was a genuine person, but I hated her grading criteria. She is a VERY strict grader with no leeway... if you mess up on something minor she will not fix it and will tell you that you should've followed guidelines. There are a few attendance activities scattered throughout the semester. Missing more than 1 will result in you not getting an A.
Amy was amazing. I took her CHS 310 summer mini session class and got an A in it. She makes health communication funny and relevant. She can be tough but she knows what she wants, and will expect it from you. I highly recommend her.
Great prof, good energy for an 8am class, very kind and caring, clear in slide shows and lecture, lenient in grading, and cancelled class a lot! Love her, would take again. Just practice your speech and put effort in and it will reflect in your grade.
Amy seemed great in the beginning, she seems very caring & understanding, but when it comes to your grade she is far from, maintained an A all semester one test got me to a C, she makes it hard on purpose. Although attendance isn't req. in the syllabus it really is, she will not give any leeway on grading & is an insanely tough grader for no reason
Tests are all online, mostly key terms and are pretty easy. Good, fun, engaging lecturer. Gives lots of examples to make material make sense. Easy A, she does activities in class and takes attendance so it's important to actually show up, easy to get the A without reading the book, she gives you everything you need.
Amy is a very kind professor that always comes in with a smile and greets everyone with a good morning. She makes it very easy to pass and all quizzes and tests are online. The tests are hard but do-able.
Amy is by far the best professor on this campus. She ties real world events to every lecture and is hilarious. 3 tests all online (the study guide is exactly like the test) and a group project at the end of the year. The test are a little harder since they require material application, but if you take notes in class you will finish with an A.
Amy is an amazing professor. She always greets the class good morning and asks how everybody is doing, she is very personable. The lecture notes are exactly like the textbook and all the tests and quizzes are online.
Amy is a great teacher. She does great lectures and makes them entertaining. She has a great relationship with her students and goes out of her way to help them if needed. Even though Amy seems relaxed with her teaching shes a tough grader. Only complaint is the attendance policy. Each class you miss you lose 10 points out of a total of 50.
Amazing class if you need some COM elective credit or any at all. Always look forward to the lectures because of the entertainment she brings along with the personable attitude. Not your typical professor!
Amy is GREAT! She wants you to succeed and she WILL help you to do so. She's extremely caring of her students. However, she is a tough grader, spelling counts even on exams. If you are looking for an easy A you might want to skip her but if you want to LEARN and have an AMAZING professor TAKE HER!
Absolutely wonderful. She made this subject so engaging especially for an 8am course! Very animated and understanding if you have any sort of timing issues and always checks to make sure we understood the material before moving on to something new. She is a wonderful professor and the course is relatively easy.
She gives one big group project for the end of the year. Attendance is mandatory. She also gives a lot of busy work so be prepared for that. I would take her again though.
Amy was such a fun and engaging professor which you need when this class is offered at 8 AM. She made every lecture engaging and very interesting to learn about. All exams, quizzes are online which is nice and you are allowed to use your notes and book. You also have a group presentation! Totally recommend her, I would take her again!!
Amy is SO SWEET! The lectures are very entertaining and she applies concepts to the real world. Most quizzes and assignments are relatively easy as long as you have good notes and read the book (which is an easy read) There's a big group research project at the end, which is more difficult. Overall, she's a fantastic professor.
Amy was great, if you engaged in class and did your work its an easy A, Amy is always there to help and truly wants you to succeed. I took two classes with her, 202 and 302, 302 was obviously more difficult because it was an upper level class, but the structure was similar. Would highly recommend taking a class with her.
I really loved this class! She does a great job being engaging and she is very passionate about this class. She's very open to feedback and her instructions are clear. There were application assignments & a quiz every week, a short group project, and three-unit exams. Nothing too heavy but enough to make you know the material for exams.
Amy was such an angel! She is really understanding and accommodating. She is a bit of a tough grader but the material isn't that hard to begin with. Most of the exams are easy if you really read the textbook
Amy is such a sweet professor and I learned so much from this class. I was actually very interested in all the topics we discussed, and she always put her students mental health first.
Amy is honestly one of the best professors. She is so understanding of her students and she is really easy to talk to. Her lectures were interesting and I thought her stories were really entertaining. There are 3 exams that are not crazy hard plus there are practice exams. There are application activities and a quiz every week but they were not bad
Amy is a great professor who knows what she is talking about. There were 3 exams, 1 group project, reading quizzes, and assignments every week, but if you go to class and stay engaged they are an easy A.
Amy is an overall good professor. I really enjoyed attending her class even though it was early in the morning. There are three big exams, weekly quizzes, and minimal group activities. I would say it's a solid class to take and following her lectures will guarantee a good grade!
Awesome!! I liked how she discussed material in class and her lectures were very easy! she is very intelligent and cares for her students!
Amy was AMAZING! She was super personable, caring, and positive. She's really clear on what she expects with her assignments and they were not bad at all. Weekly assignments due by Sunday night with chapter quizzes and maybe 1 or 2 application activities that go with what we went over during the week. One small group project. 3 open note exams.
I LOVED Professor Arias. She made every single class interesting and fun! There was one group project, but it only took one week and was fairly easy to do. All weekly quizzes are very fair and answers are in the lecture slides. Tests were fair and you are given more than enough time to complete them. Best class I have taken so far. Learned so much
She relates to her students so well! Very personal and welcoming! She is a wonderful professor and CARES.
I took her for COM 315 and I liked her. In the beginning of the course it was mainly lectures and then 3 online open book tests. They were easy. In the second part of the semester we were in small groups working on a project for the last 7 weeks. Very assignment and task heavy but doable. Be sure to read instructions carefully, she will dock points
She is very kind, energetic, and bubbly; I love her personality. That being said, she is also very accommodating and understanding. Take class with her if you get the chance. Serious 5/5
She was so nice and cared. She had 3 exams which she let us do in groups and a big final project but the expectations were clear straight forward. Attendance was mandatory but we had 3 excused absences we could use. Can get a little boring at times but as long as you show up and do the work its a fairly easy class. Would 100% recommend this class.
I absolutely loved taking this class. Amy is an amazing teacher and really cares about her students. I enjoyed going to every class and 100% recommend.
Please take this class if you have too. It is so worth waking up early for, she's engaging and so accommodating. She's so relatable and as long as you do what you're supposed too then you'll be good. I love this teacher and I wish more professors were like her. I'm glad I went out of my comfort zone and took the 8am :)
Great teacher! She never answered her emails, but for the most part she cares about her students. If it wasnt an 8am class I would have loved her more
She is a wonderful professor, and the workload is not heavy. Her lectures are very engaging, and it is obvious that she cares about her students. It was an 8 am class, which was hard, but her lectures made it worth it. Definitely take her if you get the chance!
Professor Arias is awesome! Her engaging lectures and caring attitude make this 8am class worth it. unstuck ai is great for exam prep too.
She really takes her time with the lectures and cares for all her students. All her exams are online and you're able to use your notes. Her lectures are pretty fun and she engages with her students everytime. She responds to your emails outside of class and encourages you to pass. She is amazing!! It was a really easy class and its worth it.
Attendance is mandatory/graded but class is really fun. No big projects and HW is easy. She is strict on her late and rounding policy. I was being an idiot and turned something in late and it took my 98 to a 92 so turn everything in on time lol. Besides that, she is great at teaching and you can tell she knows her stuff so please take her!
