Very good professor. Some people struggled in the class, but if you read what you're supposed to and pay attention in class, you should have no problem. Was very helpful with test prep: posted powerpoints, study guides, practice tests, and had many office hours. Was always willing to help and her powerpoints were helpful during class.
Seemingly impossible class. Felt like she had standards that no one could live up to. Very nice lady but her tests were like another language. Her class was the reason for almost all of the stress during my semester and I don't think I learned much at all.
She is very helpful and wants you to do very well...however, the class is quite challenging. You may think that you understand the info, but when you get to the test its like another language. She posts study guides and holds review sessions which helps alot. This class took up the majority of my study time and the class moves extreemly fast.
Worst class ever.. her exams are hard and don't relate to what we learn. would not recommend, even though she tries to help us out, we still get screwed in the end. Lots of people not wanting to be in nursing thanks to this class!
Nice lady, material not hard but tests written differently then notes. You really have to understand the material (notes and book) to do well
Class was difficult but really if you do the work you'll do fine! I got an A in the class and really did not have to work that hard, however you MUST study for the exams. If you study all the slides you'll do fine on the exams. It is common to feel like the tests were horrible right away but if you study you'll do fine!
Extremely challenging...the first two tests were brutal! She changed them after that since so many students were failing, so the following semesters tests will be a lot easier. I would recommend locking yourself in a white board room and teaching yourself everything and making yourself learn the processes w/o looking at your notes. Good luck!
Dr. B is so nice! She truly wants her students to succeed and is more than willing to meet with students who need a little extra help. She is not always consistent in the difficulty level of her tests so don't assume that since the first one wasn't bad the next will be the same. The exams aren't as impossible as they may seem as long as you study.
She did everything she could to help students succeed yet none of it worked because her tests were impossible. Almost everybody failed at least the first 2 tests and then many people dropped the class.
Dr. B is very sweet. However, her tests are incredibly difficult. Many people have had to drop the class or retake it, and even if you study for hours you may not do well on the test.
I really enjoyed this bio class. I had never taken biology before. EVeryone else seemed liek this was the class from hell. I barely went to class and just really focused on the textbook and got an A. But when i went to class it seemed like she knew what she was talking about. ppl just can't take a challenge. Id take her again!
Dr. B. is very clear about what she will put on her tests. It is very easy to get an A in her class if you strive for that particular grade. Studying persistantly, multiple times a week WILL get you that A grade on the test. She doesn't do cumulative tests, so you don't have to retain info throughout the semester. She's great!
Dr.B was really nice, and she was very clear about her expectations for the course. I thought the exams were straight forward and easy if you were prepared. The class requires that you read and understand each chapter, but as long as you keep up on that, study often, and pay attention to the powerpoints, getting an A is simple.
It sounds like Dr. B's teaching style has changed quite a bit for this semester. She is trying really hard to accomadate her students and I think she is doing a great job! Studying outside of class is mandatory to do well but she will answer any and all questions. The group test component is also great!
Dr. Beadles-Bohling really cares and does a great job answering questions. Her class is difficult and includes weekly pop quizzes so studying is a must. After exams we take a group exam that can only benefit your grade. I advise printing out the powerpoints she reviews in class to keep up since she goes through a lot of material quickly. Overall :)
Dr. B's class was my first real exposure to biology and she could not have taught it better. Her classes were structured very well and her lectures held my interest. The tests were difficult, but definitely manageable with thorough studying. I studied really hard for this class and ended up with an A.
This class was ridiculously easy. I literally read novels in class while slightly paying enough attention so as to copy the Powerpoints used into my notebook. Everything you need to know is in the Powerpoints given in class and lectured from.
This class was way harder than it should have been. Dr. B is nice, but she speeds through slides and makes a lot of things more complicated than they need to be. This class is notorious for changing in how hard it is per semester, and I had to take it the hard semester. Shucks. Just be prepared to study a lot on your own in the worst case scenario.
Clearly knows bio. Lectures are not organized, things will be easier if you read the book and take notes on your readings before going to class. Easy to get an A if you spend time reading the chapters and don't let her extensive explanations confuse easy concepts.
Dr. B is awesome! She is incredibly helpful and is great at explaining topics until you completely understand it. You definitely have to work hard in her class but overall I would highly recommend her!
Really wanted to like this class...BB made that pretty much impossible. Easily the worst prof in the bio/chem departments. Nice enough lady, tries to oversimplify everything to the point that it really makes it more difficult to learn. That might work for her nursing classes, but it really hinders learning in a neurobio class.
Dr. B, is kind and sweet. She loves you. But she is hard. Whenever she tries to help out by "applying" it to Nursing... it doesn't help at all. I loved biology in High school, Straight A's. But in this class, I HAD NO IDEA WHAT WAS GOING ON. She lectures strictly from PPT slides. Her tests contain info that do not relate to what we learned. Gd Luck
Easy to sit through lectures. Mastering bio online answers can be found on quizlet. Some questions on the exam don't relate to things you're learning.. good luck. Touch teacher.. If you don't have to take her, DON'T
Sweet lady who really knows her subject well. I thought the class was really easy. She offers extra credit and the quizzes are easy to prep for. If you aren't into ppt, it probably isn't the class for you, but they prepare you for the tests. Need the textbook for access to online quizzes.
Dr. B is willing and wants to help you pass her class. She will gladly meet with you during office hours and will explain the concept in numerous ways until you understand. If you study and pay attention to her lectures, you will pass.
Dr. B is wonderful. Her class was pretty much completely lecture, but she crammed in a lot of valuable information and was always willing to explain more. She is often available for office hours and encourages students to come. There are one or two quizzes a week on the reading. It's tough material, but Dr. B teaches it well and wants to help.
Dr.B was completely unorganized throughout the class and failed to present a grading rubric for the class until after the drop date had already passed. In addition, the work load she assigned was completely unreasonable. Dr. B expected between 13-24 papers in addition to tests and online quizzes, which she failed to post routinely.
I absolutely adore Dr. B. She is super helpful, and if you print out the powerpoints and attend workshop every week you are pretty much guaranteed at least a B. She makes things easy to understand in relate to.
Dr. B's great. The way she explained things helped clear up a lot of material I was confused about in AP Bio in high school. Print out her powerpoints, go to workshop, and pay attention in class and you'll be fine. Pretty easy A.
I hadn't taken biology since my freshman year, but it wasn't a problem. There is a bio workshop that is very helpful every week and you get extra credit for going. Textbook shouldn't really be used unless for clarification on something you don't understand. Mastering bio is mandatory (and kinda sucks), but it's helpful and occasionally on the test
Dr. B is an alright teacher. Her tests are really hard but if you study for 40+ hours for them, its usually fine. She is very disorganized. Pop quizzes are a thing every week, sometimes twice a week. If you aren't there for the quiz, you can't retake it. I didn't open the book once and the Bio workshops are what saved my grade, so go to those.
Very good.
super nice lady and really wants you to succeed, LOTS of material is covered in her class, the only thing that I find frustrating is that she tends to get behind and then rushes through some of the newer material at the end of the course.
Pretty typical intro to bio lecture. She does a really good job of making sure to pause for questions which is nice. Sit in the front if you can since 205 tends to be a fairly large class.
She is very nice and willing to help you during office hours. Tests are very hard and she expects you to spend a lot of time studying for her class. She can be pretty disorganized with makes it difficult.
I hadn't taken bio since freshmen year and REALLY struggled in this class. She taught the material in a straightforward way and then tested with application style questions-meaning you can memorize your notes word for work and still fail the tests. Her tests are filled with many trick questions so read carefully. Overall would NOT recommend.
She is an excellent lecture-style prof. She is very good at connecting the lecture notes to real-life scenarios that are easier to understand. She does group tests after individual tests which can only help your grade. Tests are all application based, making them tough.
Dr. B's class is a nice person but a really hard prof. She cares about her students but doesn't care about piling on lots of work. She expects us to know small details about everything so scheduling office hours to get help is almost necessary. I never skipped a class and still felt overwhelmed so go to every class.
Dr. B was okay; participation is a must in her class. She gets really mad if you don't participate. She also asks clicker questions throughout her lecture on current or past material, but she won't give you the answer even if you ask for it, which is super unhelpful. Her lectures are fine, but a little bit all over the place.
Dr. B is one of the most unprepared and unorganized teachers I have ever had. Not only were we constantly behind on schedule, but also her lectures seemed very explanation lacking. The only reason this class was survivable was because of the workshop, where the TA's teach a thousand times better than her.
Dr. B is a fairly okay professor. The class is really interesting but you have to constantly ask questions if you want to understand. Lots of studying btw!
She gives clicker questions throughout the entire the class after teaching concepts and doesn't tell the class the answer. She won't ever give answers to clicker questions She literally let someone new to biology think non-living things had cells and didn't correct him. If you didn't do AP bio in high school your'e in for a load of fun!
I had little to no BIO experience in high school and Dr. B made this apparent. She expects students to already know the concept and expects her lessons to only be a review. Studying hard will do you no luck. She will literally make her tests as tricky as can be. Get ready for lots of tears and anxiety in her class.
She is a very unorganized professor and is not much help. Doesn't do a lot of teaching so unless you have experience in AP bio you have to do a lot of reading, studying, and teaching yourself. Lectures are all over the place and tests are tricky.
Course can be pretty difficult if you didn't take advance bio in high school. If you did the course is dragging and slow. Daily participation points in clicker questions and records her lectures if you miss class. Always extra credit on exams that can raise your score by a couple percent
Biology 205 is a tough class, I won't deny that. There are 4 exams total and they are all pretty challenging. That being said, Dr. B does a great job of lecturing in class and provides a TON of outside resources to help you if you're struggling (lecture captures, lots of extra credit, mastering biology) The workshops are helpful so GO.
Dr.B really loves to help her students. I recommend going to her office hours to talk to her if you have any questions. Her group tests are extremely helpful and boost your grade up so much. Tests are worth a lot of points so study your clicker questions and listen to the lectures like crazy!!
Dr. B has one of the hardest classes I have ever taken. The workload is crazy, and her tests are extremely difficult. She also expects you to teach yourself all the information on your own instead of actually teaching it to you. She does try to help with extra credit points, but without them or AP Bio, good luck passing the class.
The class is hard but welcome to college, you need to study a decent amount for this class. Her test are hard and stupid but not impossible, overall just get ready to study for this class. The textbook is optional, we never use it in class but it doesn't hurt to have it, honestly just borrow from a friend who bought it.
Dr. B is very well-intentioned. The reality is that she tends to be disorganized. She tends to explain things very simplistically during lecture and then ask very tricky questions on her test. Her tests are notoriously hard but gives extra credit via group tests after. If you advocate for your learning, pay attention and study you will get by.
This class was really hard. You definitely have to figure out how to study. The questions are very difficult, specific, and require you to apply many different pieces of informations you've learned. The class is test heavy yet she gives homework, class attendance and workshop participation to soften your grade. Theres no better teacher for BIO205.
BIO 205 with Dr. B was challenging, but one thing that really helped were the workshops. She's a hands on professor, meaning she will wrote notes on the powerpoint as you go through class. She gives extra credit mostly through the workshops, and your grade depends on the exams.
Bio 205 is fundamentally difficult. You simply cannot delve into bio without touching base on chem. With 4 exams, you will need to work for that A and so do take advantage of your resources (she offers detailed lect. capt., extra cred., online assignments, and workshops). Dr. B is patient and so if you are struggling, voice your concerns early.
She was not the best professor I've ever had... she actually missed a decent amount of class and still expected us to show up. And in one instance, all her 205 classes failed an exam (like not one person got an A) and she blamed us...
She's super unorganized, likes to call on random students for participation (get ready to be embarrassed if you don't know the answer), cancels on appointments for office hours, and makes students want to drop out of their major.
Dr. B is a lovely person super sweet, she was very accommodating and helpful when it came to my accommodations. Only problem is shes not super organized so her lectures can be a bit messy. Tests are super hard and a large part of your grade. 2-3 long homework assignments per week.
Took online BIO205 with her and loved it. It is a tough class, but she explains all material thoroughly and is very caring with her students. Overall, a great professor!
I took Bio 205 online this semester and I'm not going to lie it was hard. However, Dr. B is an incredible teacher and makes the topics as easy as one could make for a bio class. She is so nice and gives you so many resources to help you succeed.
Dr. B is great! I had her for bio-205 which is a medium-level class, and she always did a great job of ensuring that she explained the tougher subjects well and that everyone understands. She's very flexible and has tons of office hours and availability outside of class!
Super sweet person, the subject is very difficult but she is very accommodating and willing to work with you. Just be prepared to study your heart out and take lots of notes, tests are ridiculously difficult but the homework is always quite easy. 4 tests in total worth a total of 80% of your grade.
I love Dr. B! The exams are a large portion of your grade. She holds many office hours (by appointment or walk-in). Her lectures are amazing and easy to understand. She asks clicker questions to make sure students are understanding the main concept. I would definitely recommend attending workshop to ask questions and test your knowledge.
Dr. B is great, has accessible office hours to help students, and offers extra credit by attending the workshop classes. Homework is given pretty often but is never too hard to finish (she grades on completion). BIO-205 is lecture and test heavy though, but she offers group exams to boost your grade a little bit.
Dr. B will do her best to accommodate you. I had a hard time meeting deadlines due to huge time zone difference (online class), she allowed me to submit assignments on deadlines of my time zone. Her exams are crazy difficult. It's definitely not an easy A class. Even if I listened to the lectures head to tail, the exams were still out of hand.
Was this class an easy A? No. Put in the time and effort and you will succeed. Dr. B is always avaliable outside of class for questions and will walk you through any problems. Do the homework it will help prepare for the exams. The exams are very difficult but doable.
Dr. B is an amazing prof. During COVID she made my online class exciting and engaging, she really cares about her students. Tests are difficult but she is really understanding about how hard it is. She always makes time for office hour appointments and you have a chance to up your grade during the group test.
Dr. B always tried her best to make lab as enjoyable as possible. She spent a long time explaining processes that we needed to know. The post labs are relatively easy, but are graded on accuracy. Make sure to go over the homework assignments as well as the powerpoints for tests. The anatomy is definitely easier than bio365.
The content itself is extremely difficult. I would be rewatching lecture videos making sure that I didn't miss anything, but the exam is still not it. Dr. B is very nice, though. She tries her best to accommodate your needs. There's not much homework. The MasteringA&P code has an e-text included so you don't have to buy the textbook separately.
Dr. B is so understanding and nice. Great at teaching the material. Her clicker questions are super helpful for tests. The material is almost the same as what you learn in high school. She expects you to read along in the textbook to get a deeper understanding of the material. Will sometimes leave out information that appears on exams so do read!
Dr. B is an amazing profesor. She is very kind and supportive, as well as super accessible outside of class. She does go pretty fast through a lot of heavy content, but she posts both the presentations and recordings after class.
I love her straightforward lecture style. Everything on the exams is in the powerpoints. Tests are hard. She is very kind!
I suggest writing notes before class because of how fast pace it can be and the amount of info covered. Her exams can be so hard our first exam was altered after she compared results with other professors because our class did the worst! group exams and attending workshop help your grade. she's considerate though, made buying the textbook easy
Dr.B provides great lectures and notes, BUT she does go more in depth into material, assigns more homework, and her exams are a bit more difficult compared to what other professors provide.
Good professor, she does go a bit fast during lectures but she posts the recordings online for everyone to watch. The only thing is that sometimes shes a bit slow to upload slides and recordings from previous classes. Study guides for each chapter are very helpful.
Dr. B shows that she cares for her students and wants them to succeed. Her lectures are witty and informative, and I found it easy to learn from her. She actively walks around and makes sure students understand the activity or lesson and is willing to do any amount of explaining or working with the student until they understand. My favorite!
Class was definitely hard, but she's a really lovely professor that definitely knows her stuff. She is great at making sure everyone is following, and assigns frequent but light homework to keep the content fresh. Missing her class is not a great idea but she Zooms and records it, so she's super accessible. Love Dr. B!
Very tech savvy and has good availability for office hours. She teaches concepts and expects you to be able to apply the concepts, but not really teach you how to do so. There are four tests, including the final, and they are all 50 multiple choice questions. They are really difficult and studying does not help all that much.
Dr.B really knows her stuff. Her class is lecture heavy so it could be easy to get lost but as long as you can go back and study the concepts outside of class, you should be good. Dr.B tries her best to help her students succeeded. She's very nice however her exam are very difficult. Out of all the biology professors, her exams are the hardest.
Dr. B is a good professor, very caring about her students and is accessible outside of class. A&P II lab is definitely harder than A&P I. Focus on studying the physiology and go into office hours if you need it.
Dr B just explains things quickly and there's a lot content. The tests are made to trick you, so they can be difficult if you haven't studied well and understood the content. Tests are online but proctored. There's extra credit for going to workshop, and homework are graded on completion. It's a good class, I just wouldn't expect it to be easy.
Doctor B is a tough professor for BIO205. If you don't have experience with AP Bio, then this course is a bit difficult. Staying confused and not asking questions won't help you pass the class, going to her office hours and attending BIO workshop helps a lot. Doctor B has great slides but her handwriting is horrible and she goes extremely fast.
Dr. B is very qualified- not only is she super knowledgeable in her subject but has researched which ways of learning are the most effective for students- and implements her research in class! She provides tons of resources and opportunities to master the material. Her exams are hard but not impossible. Show up to class, workshop, and do the HWs!
As someone who didn't take AP Bio, this class was tough. Dr. B's lectures were fast but engaging, and her visuals were helpful. Don't waste time reading the textbook—focus on lectures and processes. She doesn't reply to emails, so go to office hours—they're incredibly useful. Tests are application-based, but you adjust!
Explains things thoroughly and provides lots of resources for help or further understanding on a topic. Not too much homework and grades it mostly on completion, so tests don't end up mattering THAT much for your grade. Lectures are fast-paced, but that's just because there's a lot of content, so if you study outside of class, you'll do good.
Dr. B is controversial but if you are willing to work hard, she will work with you. Lectures were very important for me, I never read the textbook. She is very willing to help out in office hours, come prepared with what you want to discuss! Sometimes confusing about what material will/won't be on exams, which can be frustrating.
Dr. B is a very caring professor and she is available frequently to help students. The grading criteria is clear and she offers extra credit opportunities throughout the semester. The exams are tough but attending office hours is helpful to do well in the class!
