She is completely amazing! Tests are all (including final and midterm) open book and note. Tests are also lecture based- so you don't have to read the chapter. I never once opened my book and passed the class with a B+. Her lectures are funny and informative. Does art (from museum) and side book assignments. Can check out side book from library.
I took this course online and it was the toughest online class i've ever taken. A lot of busy work. multiple papers and a lot of essay questions on exams. Asks really broad questions and then expects the most specific details. Very hard to get an A. She will pick your paper, exam, or homework apart so you can't get better than a B. Annoying voice!
Rough semester with her. Very picky on assignments. Extended response on exam questions quite lengthy. Timed exams do not give enough time for the amount of questions. Being a 100 level course, the extent of work is ridiculously busy.
Awful. First D in my life. Super picky on extended response exam ques. Not enough time to respond as thoroughly as she expects. Would not recommend for 100 class. Disappointed. Arrogant in her lectures. If you take this class online consider yourself shunned. Holds study sessions for students on campus so those online are not treated equally. Sad
I enjoyed her class. I took her for 150 & we has 2 papers, both 1 or 2 pages long. There is random in class activities but even if you aren't in class, you can still do them online. Lectures can be boring at times, but not bad. Tests are open book, open note & based off discussion. Take notes and you'll be fine!!!! I recommend!
If you go in and have her help you with your art assignment, she will glady give you feedback and tell you what to improve BUT when you improve everything that she mentioned she will give you whatever grade she feels like giving you at the time...
Prof. Bosworth was great! The class wasn't too hard, and the two tests are open book. I definitely recommend her!
this teacher was crazy nice and all test open book, you really have to try to fail.
I love Amy, she's so nice and I recommend her to anyone taking a History 150 class. Just show up to class and take notes and you'll pass. Only 4 tests a semester and they're all open note and book, even the final. Great professor!
She does give some extra credit but not much. The test are a little difficult but if you actually go to class and take notes you should be fine. The lectures are very full. Meaning she crams so much information into her lectures. She also talks about her cats a lot.
Dr. Bosworth is very passionate about history and it shows. She has a great quirky personality that keeps lectures interesting. Attendance isn't mandatory but she often does random in class assignments so it is beneficial to go.
Dr. Bosworth is great! She is enthusiastic about what she teaches yet laid back. She doesn't take attendance, but she does do random in-class activities that count for a grade. Tests are all open-book and open-note and can be taken anywhere. Most test material is from lectures, but there is some from the textbook. 2 (1-2pg) papers & 4 tests total.
Dr. Bosworth gives really good lectures, but you must be able to take good notes. Her tests are open note, open book so write down everything she says in class. She ALWAYS is talking about her cats, but her class is fine. She is always having in-class assignments as well so try not to miss.
She talks during the entire lectures everyday. Youre going to question the information she gives you because a lot of it seems like make believe. There are 4 exams and you can take them whenever or wherever you want and 2 papers.
I loved Dr. Bosworth! I thought she was funny and her lectures were informative and interesting. I looked forward to coming to this class. Tests are open book/ note and can be taken on your personal computer throughout a span of time. She also provides extra credit opportunities for each test. 2 papers that have to be 2 pages each. take her!
Best teacher I've ever had and made me love history(: love amy
Signed up for her class because she does open book tests. Little did i know that the questions are manipulative and very hard. Doesnt take attendance but you must go to class to do in class activities and write COUNTLESS NOTES just so you can pass the tests. She also talks very fast and doesnt keep in mind students with understanding difficulties
you have to write alot of notes to pass her rediciously hard tests. She tries to act humble as if shes that great, shes horrible. Do not take her class. It is not easy. If you do take it and find it hard to keep up she will not help because she doesnt care if you pass or not.
Her class is fine I guess but she herself is incredibly annoying. She acts nice during her lectures but very rude and inconsiderate in person. There are many history professors at ball state pick another one.
Horrible. Worst professor Ive had at ball state. Not clear with assignments instructions and very tough at grading. Asks to write full paper then tells you she wanted short answers.
She is awful. Her lectures will make you want to fall asleep and if you skip you will have a rough time. The tests are take home but she makes the questions more specific than a background check for the FBI. So in other words you ain't finding the answers on google. Then again it didn't help I went to class a grand total of 0 times between Oct-Dec
The tests are open note and book but you are timed. Pay attention to some of the silly bits of commentary such as comments on her cat or other career choices for easy points on the tests. You will have two big papers you'll need to do. She is pretty energetic so if that's something you can't handle then don't take her class.
I usually enjoy coming to class. She makes history endurable. The exams are genuinely hard and you have to take good notes. She doesnt post any PowerPoint slides on blackboard so you have to come to class and pay attention.
I really do not like this class. It is SO boring. She also makes the tests so hard, they are open note and open book but half of the stuff you can't even find. Don't buy the book, it's useless, there is a copy in the library to check out. You have to do art papers and reaction papers and they are so useless. Do not recommend.
Horrible Class. She is very tough at grading. Don't even think about asking for a second chance at any test or paper because she WONT do it.
Tests were overly hard. All multiple choice, all open note, but what get you is that no answer is wrong per se, but one is "more correct". Ugh. And pay attention to her favorite sport team, and cat comments, because you will be tested. For a class that mandatory, and unrelated to my major, this class was too demanding.
Attendance wasnt mandatory but she its the only way pass the tests. Lectures were very interesting. Pay attention to all the details because she is harsh at grading.
Currently taking her summer class. instructions for assignments are not clear and she takes alot of time to respond to emails.
Terrible teacher. avoid her online class
Wish i had a different professor. Very bad experience. Made me hate history even more.
For an online class that was not related to my major it was very hard. very bad at teaching online classes, lectures as well.
I really enjoyed this class. Professor Bosworth made history fun. Even though she didn't require our attendance in class, I woke up in the morning looking forward to attending history. Tests are open book and there are very few assignments. I would absolutely take this class again!
She does better creating stupid tests than actually teaching the material.
She makes class fun and exciting, you can tell she is very interested in what she teaches. I have the class in the morning and I don't actually dread going. There are only four exams and they are all open book and open note.
Dr. Boswoth is easily the best professor ever. Her lectures are hilarious and makes you actually want to go to class and she only has 2 papers due for the entire year (these are the only things you have to do outside of class). She is extremely kind and her class is easy. Tests are open note/book so its easy to get a good grade on them.
4 tests, 2 papers, no final or midterm. All of her tests are open note but they're pretty specific. As long as you go to class and take notes, you'll do fine. All the people saying she is bad, don't go to class. She is pretty funny at times. Go to her office hours for paper revisions. Need the book for the papers and a couple questions on the tests
Book only needs if you miss class/want to read beyond the lecture. All exams (6) are online, take as available over the course of 3 days per exam. Lecture outlines are available to add your notes to. Pro: talks a lot about her cat. Con: talks a lot about her cat.
All classes are lectures, tough grader when it comes to papers, if you skip class you'll still pass, very lecture heavy, she includes things that aren't relevant sometimes, talks about her cat all the time, tests are at home/open notes, lots of options for the projects
Recommend looking for another professor.
She is interesting, I like how we are able to use notes during test, and only a couple essays. Go to class and you will pass!
I always enjoyed her lectures. She chose the most interesting bits possible, and I enjoyed her class. You have to write one paper based on a genre of art, and another on a specific event that she lists. Both of these papers have multiple options, giving you basically the entire semester to do them. Tests are open note and easy. Don't get the book.
I had the worst experience in this class. Such a terrible teacher.
Amy really really likes animals and for your sake I hope you do too. She's funny and if you sit there and listen to her like you paid to do you won't have much of a problem. Personally I like history so I didn't find the class or the tests very difficult. The tests are open note and you can take them at home...
2 writing assignments in this class and you have specific sources you are allowed to use. For my specific paper, I used the same book we were allowed to use but the online version and citied it as so. She gave me a zero. She is extremely picky and the grading is ridiculous. You do not know your grade all semester and office hours are a joke.
DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!!! All it is is lectures, she talks so fast that its impossible to write every single thing down. Doesnt post notes, so if you miss a day, youre screwed. Tests are extremely hard, very manipulative questions. The questions on the test dont have anything to do with the notes you take. TOUGH GRADER. HORRIBLE PROFESSOR!!
TAKE NOTES ON THE LECTURES; tests can be taken from home and are open note, so take good notes; show up to every class or make a friend who is there regularly to get notes off of; some in class assignments used to take attendance on various days; art assignment is the major project, you have the choice of four options
Honestly, if you show up and take good notes you will be fine. The exams (3) are on Canvas so they are open book and note so TAKE GOOD NOTES!!! If you miss a class, you will need to get notes from somebody else or you'll miss a good chunk of material. She tries her best to make history interesting.
Her class has a lot of lectures but they're interesting to listen to. She has a few assignments that have very specific rubrics but overall it's easy to get an A if you come to class since the exams are open note.
Dont take her class. All lecture based so be ready to be bored. Shes such a hard grader and if its not perfect shell give you a bad grade on it. You get awful feedback, its probably two words and makes no sense. Only good thing is open book/note when taking the exams.
Awful grader. You get a 0, 40, or 60 out of 60 on all 4 of the in class discussion papers. The art assignments are the same way. 0, 40, 60, 80, 100 out of 100. Doesn't give reminders about exams or assignments so you have to be on the syllabus constantly. I forgot an exam and failed the class. She didn't let me take it for partial credit. harsh
Makes history entertaining! Wish I could take her again
The class is super easy to get at least a B in, you just show up and do the easy assignments. The tests are open note too. The only thing I didn't like doing was the art assignment but you have 4 different ones you can choose from. Also, she is a pretty easy grader I wrote average papers and got 100% on all 3. I really wish I could take her again!
Professor Bosworth was amazing, her class may be lecture heavy but her enthusiasm and humor made it easier to get up early to show; up even for a late riser. She's very approachable and will gladly give help if you are struggling with something. I could go on for a short essay on how much I recommend her for any class! :)
Dr. Bosworth is very average. The only content is given through lectures, but she doesn't post her PowerPoints. The only way to get the information is the show up, or read the textbook. Tests are difficult because she asks very specific questions, so you have to know the material.
The work she gives is not hard at all. During lectures, she talks very fast because there is a lot to cover in a short period of time. There are a lot of notes to take, but you are allowed to use the notes on exams. She is a very nice lady and is understanding. She keeps the course very interesting even if you don't like history.
If you ask her a question over email she can be very sarcastic sometimes. Also, PAY ATTENTION during her lectures because she goes kind of fast so just use a computer don't even bother trying to write. Also, make sure you do well on the tests, in-depth study assignments, and art assignments (especially) because those WILL make up your grade.
I've had A's in every single course other than an Art History class where I got a B. I failed this class. I missed one of the exams because she doesn't remind you and then I couldn't make it up so I failed the class. Tests are incredibly specific, lectures are boring. She can be funny but is also rude and doesn't actually care about students.
You never really know your grade throughout the year because she has her own grade book and does not add in extra credit until the end of the year and you have to complete your art assignment before you know your grade somewhat. She is an unfair grader. I would not take this class if you want a good grade.
She is honestly one of the worst professors I have ever had. She is not understanding at all and I did all the assignments and she still grades so hard. Her exams are horrible because her questions don't add up to the lectures. I do not recommend taking this class at all because this is the reason my GPA is going to go down.
You'll write at least 4 papers, all of which seem pointless, and you will either get a 20, 40, or 60 out of 60 points. She rarely EVER gives out perfect scores, so that means you fail or get a C. She doesn't care if you pass or not. She's just there to talk about history in a lecture hall and go home. Terrible person and worse professor.
Dr. Bosworth makes class very enjoyable and is a kind and caring woman who cares about your learning; just talk to her. All of her quizzes and tests are open note, so if you attend class and do your assignments you will do fine. It is helpful to read and annotate the book passages as she hits pretty heavy on those for quizzes. ATTEND CLASS TO PASS
I LOVE her class. I scheduled specifically so I could take her other class next semester. She is one of those professors that puts more energy into the students who care about the learning and not just the grade so you have to put effort in to receive effort back but that's true with life. She's hilarious and has very entertaining lectures.
I am not sure why she has such a low score on here! She is awesome! I enjoyed her class a lot and she is very kind. She tries her best to keep it interesting and fun and does want to help if you have any issues. If you want to do well in this class you need to do the work. You have a quiz each week based on lecture and reading but overall easy.
Amazing professor! Very personable.
Bosworth was great! She's very funny and made the lectures more enjoyable. She was very flexible during COVID and her quizzes overall were very easy A's in my opinion. All you needed to do was take notes on the lectures and read the textbook and you were set. Gaining participation points is soooo easy by the way, she just wants you engaged.
Dr. Bosworths class is easy if you watch the lectures and take good notes. All exams and quizzes are open note which is very nice. She tries to keep the weekly discussions relevant and entertaining, however, some of the readings can be difficult to understand hard to fit into a busy college schedule.
Dr. Bosworth is quite the character. Her discussion topics can be boring, but she's very dynamic and passionate. The video lectures are lengthy at times, but you can easily skip past her banter if you're in a hurry. Her participation grades are stupid easy and the exams are almost exactly the same as the weekly quizzes. Great if you like her humor!
Mrs. Bosworth is a great professor. She wants to make the lectures entertaining and wants students to be engaged. Her lectures can be lengthy, but overall they're enjoyable. She is always cracking jokes and willing to help with anything.
This was my favorite class this semester. She was very fun and loved teaching about this subject. she made the lectures very enjoyable and she was more than willing to help if you had questions. i would highly recommend this prof.
Dr. Bosworth is such an engaging lecturer. She is so passionate about teaching and life in general. Although a lot of reading is required, she makes it worth it by being funny and great to listen to.
She was very funny and genuinely cared about what she was teaching and how her students did
she was a pretty good professor for me. there are a lot of reading assignments that are pretty long and a bit confusing at times. but she tried to make lecture interesting and seemed to care for her students. tests and quizzes are open book/note
I took her Honors 201, 202, and 203 classes. It's been mostly the same class of students so we are all really familiar with each other and class discussions are POPPING OFF. You will have to participate and there are several papers you have to write. 203 is my favorite so far. If you are taking honors, definitely try to take it with her.
She was very awesome and understanding. If you did miss class, she would post the lecture recordings so that you can still get your work done. She made sure that she let everyone know what is due in a week of advance so that nobody could say they didnt see it. I highly recommend getting this teacher if youre going to take History 150.
Highly recommend! I only had to attend once a week for participation credit, and the lectures and work are available online whenever you choose to do them. She is always available for questions, and her lectures are interesting and not hard to understand. She recognizes that her gen ed class is not the main focus of my week and I appreciate that.
Loved this class! I was annoyed that I had to take it for core, but she understood we weren't history majors and made the class fun and engaging. Participation points for showing up, and you could probably get away with not using the book. Exams were super easy (just a midterm and final). Also very funny and sarcastic professor.
Dr. Bosworth is really great. You only have to meet in person once a week for a lecture/discussion. There's always a quiz and usually activity due during the week, but it's a pretty easy workload. You do have to show up to the lecture for credit. But it's a relatively easy class and never stressed me out at all.
I enjoy history though it's not my major, and I enjoyed talking to her throughout lectures. Focuses on the cultural aspects of people in history over dates and timelines. Questions on the exams are the exact same as weekly quizzes, and they're both open book. Art assignment is basically what we do in class each week. Very easy and enjoyable class.
Really great professor. Her classes were fun and engaging and the coursework was really easy. But participation matters, she takes participation points and if you don't show up it affects your grade. Dr. Bosworth makes class interesting. This was by far my favorite class I have taken.
She is super nice, funny and does everything she can to make class engaging! Lots of reading though but you can make it through the class without doing any reading.
Dr. Bosworth is a lot of fun in class, the discussions were my favorite part. And this semester we only attended one day per week. Most of the actual material is online and in the textbook.
Great class, she had us show up to class only once a week which was nice. You can tell she is always excited about history which makes the lectures not boring. The difficulty of this class is pretty average, not a big deal. She provides a lot of extra credit opportunities. Would recommend this instructor to anyone taking HIST 150.
Dr. Bosworth is a good HIST150 teacher. She only makes you attend class one day a week and you only have 1-2 assignments per week. Her class is fairly easy and her lectures are enjoyable. She gets off topic at the beginning of every class and wastes 20 out of 50 minutes discussing something not history related.
TAKE BOSWORTH FOR HIST150. She only makes you go to class one day a week, and usually only has one 30 point quiz due on Sundays. Attendance is mandatory and is a big part of your grade. She is a really fun professor and uses modern day metaphors to help students understand the concept better. Overall she is a great professor and is somewhat easy.
Amazing Professor for HIST 150!! I hate history, but love Dr. Bosworth's way of teaching history. She makes it interesting, and fun. Overall, it's a great class. It's also nice because you only have to come once a week to lecture. I definitely recommend taking Dr. Bosworth!!!
Amy is amazing! Very sweet & caring lady. Only makes you come to lecture once a week. Weekly quizzes that are fairly easy, but you usually need the textbook if you are going to actually do them yourself (they are on quizlet). One paper that she offers feedback on if you send her it before the deadline (do this, I got 100% because of it). Love her!
Love Amy!!! Super sweet and fun lady who really engages with her students. You only have to come to class one day a week and her lectures are usually pretty interesting. The only thing she gives out for homework is a quiz each week that is open note. 10/10 would totally recommend!
this is my third time having prof bosworth and i love her! she is very funny and makes the material interesting! i will say you have to buy a lot of books for this class but it is possible to pass without buying them. three papers (you pick which one you want to write) and then one 10-15 pg paper for the final project. she is super helpful
Professor Bosworth was a great History 150 teacher! She was very upbeat, which made her lectures easy to follow and much more fun. The assignments and quizzes given reflect exactly what she teaches.
My class was originally MWF- 9-950, But Dr. Bosworth does Flipped classroom, meaning you only need to show up for one of the dates, and then you do the lecture online through canvas on video. There is weekly quizzes, those were really easy. If there is a time you need to miss a week, Dr. Bosworth is really caring and supportive! highly recommend
Fun teacher, class relies a lot on participation and points are given based on your assigned seat that you choose at the beginning of the semester, so be sure to always sit in the right seat, otherwise you lose attendance and participation points.
Bosworth is fun, brings a kind of joy to the class, and she makes it dead easy. Show up, do the bare minimum, pass. Take her class, highly recommended!
This teacher is there to teach AND THATS IT. She doesn't care about you, or your grades. She will count you absent when you are present, which will drop your grade down. It is a very unfair class. She is also very rude in emails, and your grade is all participation. But, without being called present, you will not get participation.
She marked me absent when I was in class, then proceeded to decline any communication about it. She is straight up rude in her emails. She also will blame you for a mistake that her and her TAs made. Waste of a class.
Incredibly fun prof! Easy, once-a-week classes where you pick one day to go. For someone with a busy sched like me, it was a great palate cleanser class. Grading is done by weekly quizzes and participation. The art assignments were the worst thing: you have to do 1, but the ones you didn't do say 0 on Canvas. need to do math to find actual grade
She only had us come in once a week instead of three days, funny and down to earth professor, wasn't hard on grading, and connected with students well.
Attendance is mandatory only once a week and there is a weekly quiz. The content is incredibly easy.
Bosworth is super sweet with lots of charisma, she's very understanding of students' schedules. Easy class, but if you're aiming for an A you really need to watch the online lecture and at least skim the textbook. Quizzes/exams/homework are all online, quizzes are open note.
YAY FUN!!!!!! Genuinely the kindest and most funny professor. After the first week, you only have to attend one lecture a week (all 3 will be the same information). Weekly quizzes are (for the most part) easy, as long as you attended the lecture, watched the online lecture, and read the book pages. Art assignment was fun! Yay class, yay professor!
Easy enough class, but it's set up as an Asynchronous class which kinda sucked. It's easy if you do the readings though + extra credit will impact ur grade tons. Attendance is part of the grade :/
Professor Bosworth makes class super fun! My class was MWF, but I only had to show up one day. On this day we would have in class discussions that were very interesting. I looked forward to coming to class. There are weekly quizzes but they are open note and not hard at all, just give a little effort. Overall, very enjoyable class and professor!
She's an ok professor, only had to go once a week. I would NEVER take her class again because she sets up misleading questions. I've emailed and seen her in person about what I have done wrong and she does not answer my questions and even if I show her my justification for my answer, she won't consider it, she gets kind of impatient.
She was my favorite professor this semester! We only had to attend class once a week, but it was a lot of fun. She made history very interesting and always has great energy when lecturing. There is a lot of reading each week, but the quizzes and exams are open-book.
Lectures were very interesting & often funny. Bosworth made me love/ appreciate history and I have never seen it taught in the way she approaches it. Her theory is what can we learn about the people of our past through observing objects. Test and assignments were moderately easy and she respects students time. HIGHLY RECCOMEND!
Professor Bosworth was great. I don't enjoy history very much but she if very clear on most things. All of her quizzes follow the same format and other then a couple other assignments, the quizzes are the only work you have to do. Very easy class and highly recommend.
Lectures are interesting most of the time. Can come off rude in emails or comments. LOTS of reading. Sometimes there was really unusual and uncomfortable "source" materials. Attendance really matters but only had to go twice or once a week. Quizzes are formatted all the same which was nice.
I learned a lot in this class. Her lectures are interesting powerpoints usually of art or different aspects from the period discussed that week. Quizzes were based on a reading from the textbook and were usually shorter than 20 pages for the week. We also had to listen to/read pretty interesting podcasts. She was helpful whenever I reached out.
I think that Dr. Bosworth is very funny and does a good job teaching history in a way that is engaging and memorable. All of her tests (including midterm/final) were open book/note/powerpoint with lots of time. She did not always respond to emails. I think it is a great core class.
Professor Bosworth makes history engaging with her unique approach. The class is easy if you keep up with the readings and online lectures. Unstuck ai was super helpful for quiz prep. Definitely recommend this fun and manageable course!
Awesome teacher. Learned so much. Great lectures and her delivery was special, you can see her passion.
Amazing lecturer, textbooks are free, tests are open book. Very engaging for a generalized history class. Attendance is mandatory once a week and recommended twice a week. Homework is all online and isn't too hard but there is a decent amount each week.
Such a chill and funny prof. You only have to go to class twice a week which was nice. The homework quizzes were worded a bit weird but everything in the class is open note and textbook. Also the textbook is free! She makes lectures entertaining and called us her chaos goblins.
I'm sure she's fine as a normal professor, but as an Honors one, I don't think she hit the mark. She had a hard time carrying on conversations and leading them. We would read material and then not talk about it at all. She was also very hyper-fixated about only certain things, and would get stuck on boring, basic topics for wayyy too long.
She showed us a picture of an ancient Roman wind chime made up of figures of pen!ses XD You only have to show up to at least two lectures per week it's that easy and quizzes are all open note.
Best history class I've had, I didn't like history classes in school. Sometimes before class we will discuss and debate things like musicals or jelly donuts. Wednesdays or Fridays are optional; if you go to one you don't have to go to the other. Really fun, more so when people interact with her. Brings things in for us sometimes.
She is the best professor I've had so far! She is absolutely hilarious and doesn't just drone on about history. I hated history before her class, but now I look forward to it everyday!
Dr. Bosworth is fine overall and her lectures are engaging and often fun, but she can sometimes come across as a bit cold or detached from students on an individual level. The biggest advice is to get to know the TAs because they handle most of the grading and can make or break your experience in the class.
