she clearly enjoys teaching her subject, and makes an effort to remember students names. A good teacher and very interesting class.
BEST TEACHER I'VE EVER HAD. VERY HELPFUL AND FUNNY.
THE BEST TEACHER EVER! She is funny and makes philosophy so enjoyable
She is hot and sexy!! (may not be able to concentrate in class!!) Very funny, wonderful person!
Extremely helpful during office hours. I had surgery that prevented me from attending class for a week. She was very understanding. Great professor and extremely interesting classes.
Hottest philosophy teacher ever! Very cool class, lots of fun. My only gripe was that she gives 10 unannounced pop-quizzes, so you better read the material she gives you... quizzes are only 3-4 questions about the reading... you can't BS on these!
She is teaches very clearly and makes class interesting. The pop quizes are easy if you are smart enough to actually do the reading! Great personality.
Great person and fun class!
Great teacher! I actually chose her through this site, since she got so many great comments...and she really did turn out to be the best techer i've had so far. Her class and teaching convinced me to change my major to philosophy.
Awesome professor. I hate philosophy, but I love her class. She tells stories and makes everything interesting. I won't get an A, but it's ok, I'd still take her again.
Must take amy, she's the coolest and she so funny, I got a B in the class but class was so good I would take her again. she does give out 10 pop quizes but 5 are from movies like Fight Club,Braveheart,Matrix,Platoon, etc. Also she is kinda cute :P
Philosophy is tough to understand, but Coplan makes it easier to understand. She is an excellent professor and uses movies to help you understand the concepts.
She is so awesome!! The best professor for Honors 101!! She tries to get to know everyone and has a lot of class discussions. She definitely made this class more fun than it would have been
Seriously you wont imagine how great this teacher is until you take it. Sure you can read all these great reviews, but you won't believe how great she is. So down to earth, so helpful. Philosophy with her has to be the most interesting course everher jokes are funny. Pretty easy course easy to get B
I don't understand what people can be thinking. She treats her class as if she is teaching a high school course. If you are immature and enjoy being treated this way, then take her. She gives too much work and expects too much at the same time. Be smart and avoid her.
Amy is the best. Class is a little tough, but it's well worth your while. If you are looking to get an easy A, don't take this class. You get what you deserve. If you aren't worried about grades I encourage you to take her class. You'll look at life in a different way.
Excellent Proffessor, will go out of her way to help you. Extremely interesting and loves to talk about celebrities and movies. Great personality and really nice to talk to. The class gets a little confusing at times, but Dr.Coplan keeps it simplifies things. Awsome prof.
Great teacher. Rarely use book. Tries to apply the book in class. Lots of discussion. Class is always fun. Clear and fair grading scale. I would totally recommend her!
she is a good teacher and a fair grader. class attention is required. random quizzes on what you have to read before class. finals are essays. very clear on lecture so be ready to take good notes.
Amy was an awesome teacher. It is tough to think in such ways, but she related everything to current things. You watch a lot of movies and relate things to them as well. A very young teacher who understands her students. She is willing to help especially if u go to office hours. AWESOME TEACHER!
Definitely the best honors professor out there! She loves to talk about modern events and relate events to the text. She is so sweet and knows how to make class fun!
Wonderful professor! The material was tough but she presented in a way that everyone understood. She related everything to chocolate cake, violence, and etc. Very cool and made learning fun!
Cool class, and she's hot. Notice how many of us guys move to the front of the class after the first day. Funny stuff. But she is a good teach
Amy is awesome. She is an amazing resource to introduce you to philosophy and let you know what is hot in the field right now. Interesting, excited about her stuff, compassionate to a fault. Everyone loves her, except for the dork with the blue smiley.
SHE IS AWESOME AND REALLY HAS A LOT TO SHARE WITH THE CLASS. I FOUND HER VERY EASY GOING AND LEARNED SOOO MUCH IN HER CLASS I WISH I HAD HER AGAIN...
Dr. Coplan is so cool! and so funny!
she is a really great teacher, i never read but just sitting through her lectures teaches you everything. her tests are essay format but once you have a good grasp on it, its' a pretty easy B
Coplan is my favorite professor this semester... I am freshman and I have never been so interested in learning until I had met her. Theirs just something about her that catches your eye. Shes verry interesting and I learn something new everyday of her class.

she is great...but the quizzes are hard

i really like her! she always clarifies any questions, and gets the point across! even though i don't think im going to do very well, i love the calss and think it's a total blast, but im scared for the mid term. she's also a hottie so that makes class more enjoyable! but wuts with all the baggy clothes!

Greek Phil.- For a potentially boring class, this turned out to be interesting. Taught very well. Intelligent, clear, helpful, fun. Because this class is a requirement for all phil. majors, I suggest taking it with Amy...
Amy is a really good teacher. she is fun, and very helpful; she's also a good grader.I recommend her to all.
I like her creative methods of teaching instead of the lecture style. Attractive.
She cares so much about her students and the material. She will help you out with anything relating to the course or anything else!
She is nice and all that, but I just don't think if it's possible to learn any course related thing from her. She's off the topics ALL THE TIME. We have to read some heavy stuff all by ourself. I am not a philosophy major and I had hard time to understand what's going on from the reading and she's not helping much by went off on the Brett Pit.
Okay... First of all, I failed the class... but... it was completely my own fault. She WILL help you out if you ask for it, and she really does want her students to do well. The lectures could get a little boring at times, but that's what caffiene and energy drinks are for. P.S.: She's seriously the hottest professor on campus.
I took this class because it was the only way I could finish up my UCSB degree (I was living closer to Fullerton) but it turned out to be immensely rewarding. Charismatic, helpful and captivating, Coplan's course was memorable while others in the series (at SB) were just afterthoughts.
one of the best profs on campus. take any class she teaches if you can. shes easy to talk to and will help you understand all the material. just show up to class having read (pop quizzes) and you will pass the class with an A. if you have issues writing, you can send her your rough draft and she'll help you fix it. she loves to talk movies also.
Excellent teacher. Lots of writing assignments but she's very clear and if you want to improve your writing she can deffinately help. She is an excellent teacher and very cute.
easy class! all you have to do is read...you dont even really have to understand the readings. she is very helpful, answers questions and likes class participation. all you have to do is act like you care and you have good participation. very nice as well. extra credit was offered and not hard at all. do the work and get the grade. get class
I have never had a professor this witty. I think my favorite part of her lectures (besides her brillance) is just waiting to see what will come out of her mouth next! She knows her philosopy and it's apparent. The work is not terribly hard, but it's not an easy A either. Do the reading, ask questions when you don't understand and you'll be fine.
Professor Coplan is absolutely AMAZING. She makes Greek Phil fun, and has an excellent sense of humor. She knows her stuff (Ph.D. at Emory) but she doesn't come off as arrogant. If you don't understand what's going on, use her office hours, she WILL talk to you. If you do the reading you will be fine. Don't forget to write in your book too!
Coplan is AWESOME. i definetly recommend her. shes funny, witty, and extremly intelligent. she makes things that could be incredibly hard to grasp easy to understand and interesting. just do the reading and show up for quizzes and youll pass. COPLAN IS AWESOME!
Amazing professor! She teaches with such passion that everyone in the class listens. Her examples and stories are so interesting and humorous. Take her class, do the reading, and if you don't understand it.. don't worry. She'll totally explain it in the next lecture so you'll get it.
She's a really great teacher, grades easily enough and makes the class fun and interesting. Very funny, and it's obvious that she has a passion for philosophy and teaching. I highly recommend this teacher if you are taking philosophy, you will not regret it.
Amy Coplan is AMAZING!! take her class any chance you get, the way she does her lectures is not only easily understood but all of the material is really meaningful and fun to talk about..
BEST PROFESSOR EVER. VERY HELPFUL AND KNOWS HOW TO TEACH. TOOK HER 2 YEARS AGO AND I DID WELL WITH FLYING COLORS. TAKE HER!!!!
She is Awesome, and hot. a dynamic duo in teachers.
She is soooo funny! A great teacher too. There's a lot of reading involved. I'd definitely recommend her. It's not that she's a super hard grader, philosophy is just harder than average material to study for some people, especially if they're not majoring in it. This was a little bit harder compared to the average GE course.
At first I was kind of upset about the rating on this teacher because her syllabus was a lot harder than others made it out to be. Don't be fooled, she is a very HARD teacher. There were readings EVERY night for a good 2-3 hours (for me atleast). Pop quizzes arent too bad but affect your grade. She's fair and fun. Go to office hours.
great professor, definitely heavy reading of stuff like Plato. Her specialty are theories of cinema and emotions.
One of the sweetest professors I've had. Big Radiohead fan. Came to class 5-10 minutes late pretty much every session, no joke. Books are VITAL--I never buy books, but I had to like, highlight and annotate in these ones. Engrain each philosophical concept in your brain and fart it out onto the exams. I never went to class, but got an A.
I loved this class! Professor Coplan is an amazing woman. I learned so much in this course and am sad it's over. Some of the reading is tough, but her lectures are great and she helps clarify the subject matter so make sure you attend the class. She does take a while to get the grading back, so be patient. I highly recommend this class :)
She is the type of professors who really love the subject she is teaching more than profession. That means don't expect anything to be graded in a timely matter (we got our midterms about 1/2 months after we took it. That being said, despite she thinks, I believe she grade easy and it was a fun class.
great professor who really loves teaching. she enjoys being around her students and loves the material and makes it fun! shes great, totally take her you will enjoy it!
Prof Coplan is a great professor. I usually don't rate professors but she definitely deserves it. I took an intersession class so everything was super fast paced but she made it fun and not as overwhelming as you'd expect for a 3 week course. A lot of reading and pop quizzes about them, but overall shes a great teacher with a sense of humor and a good personality. Definitely recommend her!
Took sex and love and it was not what I was expecting. Basically you read about different people and their theory on love. She concentrates on the love part and not sex. Pop quizzes so do the reading. Gives alot of extra credit. Watch the assigned movies. Easy points for movies. Tests are easy if you did the reading and paid attn. Don't expect papers/midterm back until last week of school. Never updates grades so you won't know what u have until grades are due.
Great professor. She basically has you read articles, some of which are difficult, about different perspectives on love. Her tests are incredibly easy if you go to class or at least have some idea of what the author meant in his or her writing. She can take forever to grade papers/tests, but other than that this is definitely a class worth taking.
Professor Coplan is the best. She is passionate about philosophy and is very helpful in answering her students' questions. She is one of those rare, potentially life-changing teachers who will challenge your way of living and thinking... take her!
This class was the worst classes I have taken in college. While the class itself was interesting, Amy was literally late to every class. It seemed like she did't care about the class at all. Never responds to e-mails, doesn't pass back papers, didn't even show up for the final. Had no idea what my grade was all semester. Very poorly conducted class
This class was fantastic; the entire class laughed at least twice every lecture. The information presented was new, fun and well explained. Dr. Coplan is very approachable, but her response by email isn't so great. If you are ever concerned, talk to her after class and it will be resolved! This GE is not the easiest option; but is the most fun!
Dr. Coplan is super energetic and exciting! ALways trys to get students to talk but oftentimes they are reluctant too. Assignments were fun and interesting as were the readings. If you dont keep up with the readings you will fail so do them
One of the best prof. ever. Quizzes 20% (Go to every class; quizzes are on readings or movies; easy if you read and watch), 2 essays - 10% & 15% (she corrects them if you want a couple weeks before due=recommended), 2 exams 15% & 20% (comprehensive final; exam study sessions=very helpful--just go), class participation 20% - just go to class
She is the best professor I have taken at CSUF. She will do anything to help you succeed. You have to actively participate in class to get full credit, you will want to because everything is so interesting.
Best teacher I've ever had at CSUF. She brings lots of energy and personality to class. It's really hard to not like her as a teacher.
Dr. Coplan is amazing! I hated Philosophy before taking her class. However she sparked my interest in it!She is super fun and energetic. She explains complex concepts very well. You have to do the readings since there are quizzes almost weekly.Go to the review sessions they are very helpful. if you want to learn a lot in a fun environment take her!
Literally she's the greatest philosophy teacher I ever expected. She's super funny and even made me consider minoring in philosophy. (Crazy right?) Take her for whatever class you can that she teaches. She knows how to lecture about complicated material and make it so her students can understand. My favorite class, I loved it a lot
She is amazing! I highly recommend her! Her class is very interesting and she makes it fun. She is hilarious. I'm planning on taking another class of hers.
Amazing professor whose knowledgeable in just about anything you'd want to ask her, or she'll tell you how to find the answer. If you visit office hours, she'll talk you through any problems with the course you might be having and she's very friendly with her students. Would highly recommend.
I love her so much. If I could take every Philosophy class with her for my major, I would have no problem. She's one of the best professors I've ever had. Class if pretty much mandatory because there are little pop quizzes, but if you love philosophy, then you'll love going to class anyway. Who does have a love for knowledge ;)
Amy is awesome. She's young, hot, and is really passionate about her subject. She is ridiculously smart and a breathe of fresh air to a rather dry subject. YOU HAVE TO READ (pop quizzes to figure out if you did or not). Course consisted of 2 tests (midterm and final), group presentation, and a couple of reviews for symposiums. Easy class.
She is an amazing teacher! she takes the time out of her busy day to help any student pass the class. She is a funny professor and she knows her philosophy. She is very passionate about her subject and she's funny. Took her philosophy class during summer and it was amazing! She bought us all starbucks and she bought us donuts.
Amy is AWESOME! she was super hard on grading for the midterm, but she really cares about her students and I always looked forward to her classes. she loves participation and she gives out pop quizzes. just do the reading & try. she goes over the material a lot but the two tests are essay and short answer questions so be prepared to write a lot
Dude shes dope, TAKE HER. she makes class and subjects interesting and you learn a lot. Class is structured well. If you go to class and take notes on what she says, than the two essay based tests are fairly easy. other than that just pop quizzes on the readings and she drops your lowest two. a few participation points too but thats it. DO IT!!
Coplan is very funny and extremely nice. She gives out a lot of extra credit and is very lenient when it comes to late assignments. There is a couple pop quizes that were very easy, an easy paper, and the midterm and the final. The book is mandotary because you have to do the reading for the quizes, but after the quizzes she goes over the material.
She is a great professor. There is lots of opportunities to succeed. Take her assignments serious because she does quizzes next class. Everything in her class is divided by 20% each. There are a lot of quizzes but she accepts top 6. She has a midterm and cumulative final. She talks about her dogs and shes awesome take her.
Coplan knew her subject better than any other professor I have seen. Her class was fun to show up to but make sure you read because she gives pop quizzes. Take notes on what she writes on the board and you should be fine. The only thing I would say she could work on is being a little more organized when it comes to grading.
Though Coplan has a funny personality she was very disorganized. I felt she was unreliable and flaky when it came to meeting for office hours. She grades things really late so it is uncertain to know what your grade is until far after the midterm. Her readings can be very long but you must read them to do at least okay.
Dr. Coplan is the most amazing college professor I've ever had! She possesses a very engaging teaching method that will make you look forward to her classes each week. Her lectures are among the very best I've heard on any subject, she has such a thorough understanding of the material. Class is easy, but she'll inspire you to work harder. Take her!
Professor Coplan is my new favorite professor. She is so funny and makes the content so easy to understand and relatable. She really cares about her students and is willing to work with them. Two tests, one paper, and occasional quizzes on the readings. Lecture really prepares you for the exams! Very straightforward class. I learned so much!
Coplan is the sweetest professor I've had; she reminds me of Leslie Knope from Parks & Rec. She is so genuine & funny; I've learned so much from her I would take any class she teaches. Attendance isn't mandatory but she does give out quizzes randomly on readings. Her lectures are fun & there's only the midterm, final, and 1 3-5 page paper. Take her
A nonstop source of brilliant insight and hilarious commentary! You can learn so much from her lectures, and the content we cover in class. She will go way above and beyond for anyone of her students. On top of that she is a bad ass feminist who loves TV and movies! She needs to start a podcast, to continue to entertain and educate the masses!
I am a Film major and I took this class and loved it it really helps if you want to do critical studies in film. the material was interesting made you think about films in a different way. readings where a little challenging but overall worth it. mid-term, final, couple of pop quizes, and a group project. its a cumulative final.
Dr. Coplan is just one of the most AWESOME professor in CSUF! She's so funny, caring, and understanding. Her class is such a pleasure to take and I would definitely take her for a different class! 10/10 recommend !!!
Professor Coplan very likable and has an amazing personality. She gives very insightful knowledge on Philosophy towards Cinema. However, my only complaint is that she heavily lacks organization. Doesn't grade papers on time. Doesn't keep up to date on grades, which can be extremely frustrating. She also would be late to class often.
Smart, attractive, and powerful, I had a great time learning with Professor C. Her assignments get you to think about how concepts of philosophy connect with the real world. I enjoyed her lessons and writing papers for this class was interesting albeit time consuming. However, I do agree her organization can use some work. Overall, a true delight.
Dr. Amy Coplan possesses the quintessential mind for Philosophy to educate and inspire any student interested in the subject. Beyond curriculum you're likely to learn quite a bit from her on how to live your life in a better way. Her lectures are hilarious, and truly memorable. She truly cares about her students and philosophy is her life.
Dr. Coplan is a fantastic professor with a real passion and deep knowledge of Ancient Philosophy. You'll be doing alot of reading but she's great at unpacking it clearly in lectures. You will certainly have some sort of group project as a portion of your grade. You'll also need to write her exams are essay and there will be a paper.
She is amazing and supportive teacher! U can pick & choose out of the 20 really short stories she has listed & only need to do 7 & email her questions bout it. Although she lacks organization & Doesn't grade anything on time. The schedule to meet on zoom was all over the place which can be extremely frustrating. Only 2 written short answers exams
Super sweet and understanding of situations. Not timely with grading. She's a tough grader when it comes to the midterm which was multiple free-response essay questions along with the final. She knows her material and explains it in a way that's interesting. Lots of reading and a couple of movies. Discussion posts every now and then. Recommend.
Professor Coplan is by far the best professor I have experienced a class with at CSUF. Her love for the subject she teaches, and students is beyond recognizable. She is always there for help, and gives amazing lectures with real life examples. 10/10 Recommend this class with Professor Coplan.
I had her for Phil325 as well, and she is by far the most genuine person you have ever met, she cares about humans/ anything alive really and she doesn't make you suffer if it can be avoided. She is fair and understanding. Very knowledgeable on most philosophy matters but she REALLY loves Socrates and Plato. I would reccomend her classes for ANYONE
Super fun and caring. The only thing thats a negative is that the study guide usually comes late
Doctor Coplan is so amazing! She really has a passion for Greek Philosophy! There is a lot of reading, but as long as you dont get behind on that and pay attention to lectures, youll be good. There are two tests (both worth 20%) and two papers (also worth 20%) and participation is worth 20%.
LOVED her. she's so real and understanding. I took her fall 2020 and she had the funniest stories. very personable. she did take a while to grade things but hey, its a pandemic and I totally get it. you HAVE to take her.
I love Professor Coplan as a person and could find myself just chatting with her during office hours. However, she is really ill-organized and wouldn't have a grade in the books until a couple of weeks before finals. I want to say it's because of the pandemic, but we were on tangents a lot and lectures are never posted so you're up in the air a lot
Disappointing. Professor Coplan is very smart and capable, but extremely unorganized to the point of neglectfulness. She canceled about 1/4 of our meetings the first week of the semester, then failed to provide a syllabus until 8 weeks in and did not respond to emails nor update grades until after the final.
Readings were long and difficult to understand. Extremely nice woman but digressed on topics every single class period. Cancels office hours a lot because of her busy schedule. Isn't clear on essays/exams so you kinda have to wing it. Gives review guides but theyre insanely long. Super funny and makes class less boring but the subject sucks.
Prof Coplan is amazing, she is super well informed and is always open to discussion with her class, over zoom she was no different. Her organization is slightly poor but nothing terrible, the class is alot of reading but the tests are fair and she explains them very effectively. I'm taking her again next semester, if you need 290, take Coplan.
She is very energetic and cares about her students. Make sure to read for homework because she only gives pop quizzes aside from the midterm and final tests. She breaks down each philosopher easily so everyone can understand. She makes the class interactive and fun, but you also learn more about the subject which is cool.
She's a great person and very smart. But a horrible professor. With her lack or organizational skills, reliability, and accountability Im honestly surprised she made it through a PhD. She expects a lot from you, but dont expect much from her. Gives instructions for critical assignment and lengthy homework the day before. As a Phil major, not again
Extremely unorganized and pushes her agenda way too much. Terrible at handing grades back, did not receive our midterm grade until the week before finals. Readings for every class which have pop quizzes attached to them. Would not recommend you take her.
I was excited about this class, but my opinions of her went downhill after a few weeks. Her "extra credit" pop quizzes did not correlate to the topics discussedbe prepared to listen attentively as one of the questions was to write the name of her dog. Highly unorganized and did not post our final grades on Canvas so I had to check my transcript.
This teacher is the slowest grader on the planet and shes a very tough grader. Her tests are pretty easy to do, but its very hard to get an A on her midterms and exams. By the way, all of her midterms are short answer and short essay questions without any multiple choice, so be aware of that. She gives random extra credit quizzes so be ready.
Do the assigned readings, show up, take notes, and you'll pass. There are roughly 6 pop quizzes that are based off of the reading or previous lectures. The readings are a little confusing (it's phil after all) but her lectures clear it up. She does get side-tracked sometimes and takes a while to grade. But overall, she's a wonderful and fun person!
Professor for Phil290 - Greek Philosophy which normally I was prepared to be a boring class overall. Had fun in this class and I was interested in learning the material. Coplan does a great job of explaining the readings in today's terms and is open to discussion. Mid term and final are both short answers and essay but you have a review sheet.
Dr. Coplan is a nice professor and very understanding. However, she is highly unorganized and class felt like it was managed majorly by the TA. Often running late and takes a LONG time to grade although she gives really good feedback. If you like watching movies this is the class since 2-5 movies could be assigned weekly.
Wonderful person, fun, generous if slow grader, prone to rambling. Class work was pop quizzes, two blue books for midterm and final, two essays and a group presentation. Exams have multiple questions so if you didn't watch/read all the assigned material you can still get a good score, though often some films didn't show up on quizzes/exams at all.
Coplan is very funny and often goes on long tangents/rambles. Class usually was managed around by the TA. Going to study sessions really helped with the midterm and final. She is slightly unorganized and takes long to grade essays, but the class itself was quite interesting if you're into different film theories and enjoy watching films.
Professor Coplan is the best Professor I have ever had at CSUF. Not only is she incredibly well versed in the subject matter, she really cares about the students and often tells us real life stories that make the class even more interesting. Cannot recommend taking her classes enough.
Coplan makes lecture very interesting and fun. Pop quizzes on reading or movies every now and then. Reading due almost every class from excerpts she provides to us. Some movies are also required for class if we have no reading. Midterms were essay questions and id questions.
This professor has an entertaining class room. She has 6 pop quizzes, a paper, and 2 bluebook exams. Make sure to follow the syllabus for when class readings are due, and she does pop quizzes mainly on movies. She gives extra credit and fun prizes. She is scattered so be prepared to have a lot of things graded late. She is also a hard grader.
I highly recommend everyone, and anyone, take her, even if you're not a philosophy major. She is a MUST-take! I will say there is a lot of reading and writing done for the tests all-blue book tests. Even though she's a tough grader, her feedback helps, and I would say failing is very hard to do. Beware won't know the grade till end of semester.
Professor Coplan is very understanding and friendly!! She is very insightful in her field and although the readings were tough at times she would explain very well and was always open to questions. She is a bit scattered and disorganized but I'd say it's not so bad. Still haven't received my final grade but I def recommend her class! it was fun!
OH MY GOD I love this class, take her!!!!! you won't regret it. She's a very simple grader, not very timely but very fair. Everything is weighted 20 percent. she keeps you on your toes about what you're doing in class but it won't be used against you. Watch the movies, she has great taste and will quiz on them.
Amazing professor. Very understandable, encouraging, and it was a blast taking her class would do it again 10/10 thanks Coplan.
Professor Coplan was such an amazing and hilarious professor. There was a midterm, a final, pop quizzes on the readings, and one paper. Overall, everything was manageable, and her lectures weren't just straight talking, she made it fun! I'd truly retake her class or another one of her classes, and I'm not much of a philosopher person.
Coplan is an amazing, caring professor who is extremely smart and passionate. Class does have pop quizzes, but they are relatively easy. She makes the class engaging and breaks down the material in a very digestible manner. Is prone is rambling, but that was not an issue for me. Does take a while to grade/update Canvas, but is a great teacher!
Professor Coplan is caring. But besides that, she was extremely unorganized and was late to class almost every single day. Didn't even release the syllabus until 8 weeks into the course, not thorough with teaching whatsoever, midterm and final are both short/essay answers. Do not take this class if you are an organized person, stress isn't worth it
If you struggle with organization yourself or have ADHD ... don't take her. These reviews aren't wrong about her as a person... it's just her as a professor. Late to answer any emails, to classes, behind lectures,& relies too much on her TA. Unless you're super into in Philo or a Philo major, take her, if not, with all my trust do not take her.
Professor Coplan is passionate about philosophy and does an excellent job sharing her passion with her students. Her lectures are engaging and personal (she does go on tangents), to the point where they can almost feel like a conversation. Her class is disorganized, so I wouldn't take it if you can't tolerate the uncertainty that comes with that.
Very engaging and passionate professor. She is more than willing to talk to her students about the material if they inquire about it. Every single lecture was interesting and I learned a lot from the class. However, the professor is extremely unorganized and is slow when it comes to getting back grades (she tries her best).
Professor Coplan is passionate and engaging, but her class can be disorganized at times. Lectures are interesting, but grading can be slow. Unstuck study was a big help for study prep alongside the course materials.
Professor Coplan is an amazing professor. She is kind and truly cares for her students. Admittedly, she is late often/takes time to grade but it's still a great class and it pretty straightforward; readings and movies. READ THE READINGS! if you think you can get away just watching the films, you are wrong! they are essential! Besides that, easy!
Professor Coplan is an amazing and very passionate professor. There were 6 quizzes and two blue book exams, one midterm and one final. She's a tough, slow grader but provides great feedback. Mostly readings and some movies, which she explains very well during her lectures. Her class inspired me to minor in philosophy. 10/10 would take her again.
she's not a bad teacher and explains the material fairly well. but she is so disorganized and don't plan on getting a syllabus till a couple weeks before the midterm. liberal as class, but if u don't mind that checks bc you're taking a love class. reading assignments every week with pop quizzes of short response questions. she and the class are ok.
She is a genus.
Nice professor with clear grading system, but very unorganized. Consistently showed up late, takes forever to grade, and the lectures frequently include her discussing her personal life. Not the most fun class to sit through for that last reason, but she is knowledgeable and passionate about the subject.
i feel i expected too much out of this class. shes very disorganized with the canvas it's already week 5 into the semester and she hasn't even posted the syllabus. talks about some interesting topics but it doesn't help when her module section is so unorganized with random films/reading packets. funny professor but would rather not take her again
Amazing professor, though she can get sidetracked very easily. She is very passionate about philosophy, and she reflects that in her lectures. She does ask for a few readings and films throughout the semester, but they aren't very hard, and she cares more that you've tried than if you've gotten things 100% correct.
Excellent professor with incredible amounts of knowledge on the subject she teaches. The lecture's are entertaining and does amazing job stressing the importance of our teachings in our personal lives. She offers a lot of extra credit and is incredibly friendly. Definitely planning on taking her again!
Amy is a passionate philosophy teacher, but her lectures lack clear structure and rarely use PowerPoint, relying mostly on verbal discussion. She often goes off-topic with politics and celebrity stories. Final grades aren't posted yet, and the final exam is very heavy, covering the entire semester.
Coplan was honestly the best professor I've ever had and made me commit to minoring in philosophy, she is so deeply passionate and kind. She gives amazing feedback on exams, which is truly worth the wait for her grading. She is a little disorganized, but always fair about it if you have any concerns. She is knowledgeable & truly inspirational!!!!
