Two Words...Great Teacher!
This is a horrible teacher. Communication is supposed to be two-way, not just her way. No concept of confidentiality or privacy.
The way she has the grading set up is garbage.
This course was pretty nasty. The whole course was group work and Amy was less than professional in her behavior towards the group. She expected perfection without offering any kind of clarification, and when we asked for help she responded that "we are at the level where we shouldn't need help." Easily the biggest headache I've had.
I didnt understand what she wanted half the time and going to class really isnt necessary because all she does is reads a power point. i struggle to stay awake in this class. homework is relatively easy but i wouldnt recommend taking this professor
She expects people to be interested even though she has the most boring bland personality I've ever encountered in a teacher. She doest even really teach she just reads powerpoints off the board that are quite boring. If you like being bored and teachers with no enthusiasm this teacher is for you.
Frequent quizzes based off readings. Easy if you read. Class is pretty general as it is introductory. I got my internship thanks to her. Recommend for this course.
This class was easiest but at the same time, it was pain in the buns. Fitch lectures on every thing that suits and interests her.Although she is nice, her attitudes are more than what i can say. She does not help because she thinks it is college and you have to act like college students. Emailing her is the worst idea ever.
Class isn't mandatory but she does random participation points that obviously you would miss out on if you weren't present. Her tests were based directly off of class lectures and all of the notes were available on mycampus if you missed class. Do the assignments and study guide and its all common sense. Really hard to fail unless you just dont try
Really good teacher. Very passionate and really makes sure you understand the material. Take her class!
Reading quizzes easy if you read. She does want you to act like a college student. Only 2 tests. 4 assignments. The rest are quizzes and in class activities.
How Fitch ever got a job at the collegiate level blows my mind. She is a poor professor(actually shes not even technically a professor)with a trite, uninteresting and dumb curriculum, which happens to be almost as bad as her piss-poor, disrespectful, and petty attitude towards her students. I did well but would NEVER recommend her - for anything.
This was a capstone class, so a lot is expected out of you. The class itself was really interesting, but Professor Fitch is tough. She wants her students to do well, but you need to put in effort. There are weekly reading quizzes, and the big 12-15 page research paper to do. If you took her for 101, be prepared to do more work.
Don't need a textbook. She makes class interesting. Take notes and study off of them and you are golden for the tests. Do the homework, it is not hard, and you will get an A for sure. Writing assignments are not too hard either. Really enjoyed her class. Go because occasionally participation activities that are easy points.
This class isn't necessarily tough, but Professor Fitch makes you work for your grade. She is a very difficult grader and expects a lot from her students. There are weekly quizzes (she drops the lowest 2) two 100 point assignments, a group presentation and then the major 12-15 page research paper. If the professor was easier, I would've enjoyed it.
CHS 101 was really easy for me and probably the most interesting class I took this semester. The class is a lecture with three tests and no final. As long as you go every day, take really good notes, and pay attention, you'll pass the class with no problem. If you ask her for help, she will.
Fairly easy class if you show up and try. She's somewhat a hard grader on the huge paper due at the end of the semester. The information is fairly easy to grasp and pretty interesting, and her tests come straight from the notes. She doesn't use a textbook but has quizzes on online readings. Just "command + F" to search for the answers to save time.
Amy's class is what made me declare my CHS major. She knows what shes talking about and I found most lectures really interesting. The online weekly reading quizzes are easy as long as you read. Take notes on everything she talks about because everything on the test comes straight from the lectures. She gives a few pop quizzes that are easy
She's really clear in her lectures (granted the material isn't very difficult). She assigns readings 1-2xweek and they can be long and dry. Lots of in-class participation assignments, so make sure you go to class or you'll fail. Drops 3 low reading quizzes and 3 lowestmissed class assignments. Super sweet and makes the class fun.
I'm surprised her rating isn't higher. Easy class. Just go to lecture, take notes, do the readings and you'll do well. Definitely recommend, she's very knowledgeable and makes class enjoyable with tons of videos. No book required, all the readings online.
This class made me love CHS so much more! You don't need a textbook, there are weekly reading quizzes, a couple of assignments, and her tests aren't too difficult as long as you take notes each lecture. She even posts outlines before class that will help you organize your notes. She is a great teacher with interesting content, I would take again
She is a great teacher, really knows the topic, and she genuinely cares about the students. Anyone who gave her a low rating obviously did not pay attention or try at all in class and deserved to do poorly.
Great teacher. She is a tough grader. Reading due every class and each class is like 60% discussion based. Exams are tough, but if you read and take good notes you will be fine.
Fitch is awesome. I'm surprised her rating isn't higher. No book required so you have to go to class--but I genuinely enjoyed going. Great lecturer and interesting subjects talked about. 2 Current Assignment papers and 3 exams that are all easy A's. She's easy to talk to and made me confident in the fact that I chose CHS as my major. TAKE HER!
Thoroughly enjoyed Amy. She does a great job with the CHS 101 class, and making students interested in the field. If you read the assignments and moderately keep up in class, you won't struggle too much.
Professor Fitch is one of the best professors I've had! She cares about her students and is there if you have a problem. There is kind of a lot of homework with weekly readings/quizzes, but you'll be fine. The tests are easy if you pay attention. Just go to class and pay attention to her lectures, which are actually interesting.
Attendance wasn't mandatory, but sometimes she gives out activity sheets that you turn in at the end of class for participation points. She provided all the readings through pdfs so no textbook was needed. She had a lot of readings though but they were fairly easy, just long. There was a lot of assignments you had to do, but super easy as well.
I took Fitch for 101 and thought she was great. For 440 she is very dry and likes to relate her topics to many things she has experienced, which is cool, but it drags class on. My whole class was trying every day not to fall asleep cause it was so terrible. She makes you do outlines the way she likes so get ready to make her happy. DON'T TAKE HER
Pretty easy class. Uses TopHat for participation but its worth 100 points so its an easy A. Tests are pretty tough but they come straight from the lecture. No textbook, participation counts, easy A just study for your tests
I have to say, I absolutely LOVED Professor Fitch. She defiantly made me fall in love with the public health world! Lots of reading quizzes, but you don't have to buy a book. Lecture is very interesting, I loved going to her class. Highly recommend!
Professor Fitch's class is one of the easiest classes. Her lectures are very straight forward and interactive. Her tests come straight from her lectures. Every class period is a different subject and she does not post her lectures online. She does not make you buy a textbook because she posts all the readings online. Amazing class.
I am a transfer senior who had to take this course and she treated all of her students as if they were freshman. She talked to us like we were immature, and most of all clearly stated her political beliefs. I am a republican and her usage of speech and words about gun laws, the president, really made me feel uncomfortable in class. DONT TAKE HER.
It's a very easy class. You need to show up during class because she uses Top Hat which uses your location to see if you're there and that counts as participation points. Some of the questions on her test are dumb and they feel like she just put it on there for a higher question count. Show up and take notes and you should be fine
This class is pretty easy for the most part if you show up, pay attention and take notes. Attendance isn't necessarily mandatory but she uses Top Hat which can hurt your grade if you don't show up. Her lectures are not boring and she makes them feel very personable even such a big class. The readings can be a pain to do but they can be interesting
Fitch knew what she was talking about and gave a lot of examples. She uses the Top Hat app for attendance and in-class questions, but you can discuss with people around you. Usually has an online reading+quiz every week but fairly easy if you actually do the reading. 3 exams total and 1 cumulative final. Drops your lowest test.
Amy is a great professor, she is educated and knows what she is talking about. Class is extremely easy, if you show up, take notes you will pass easily and with a good grade. Only thing that sucks, is she shoves her political views down your throat, in her defense I don't think she even realizes but its offensive at times. Easy A!
She knows what to do for her students
Professor Fitch knows what she's teaching and is always open to answer questions in class. She has weekly quizzes on readings she provides for you and doesn't require a textbook. This class will be easy as long as you annotate the readings on paper, remember to do the quizzes on time, and write good notes on her lectures.
It's an easy class, you don't need to pay attention or study too much. She uses online system to take attendance and asks questions during class so you can get easy points. She has a lot of experience in the field of public health, so I respect her teaching.
Lecture heavy
Amy is an awesome professor. Super sweet and cares a lot about her students. Very strict when it comes to tests, however. She doesn't mess around. There were weekly quizzes that you had to read or watch a video for, but they're not difficult. 3 tests & a final, none of which were too hard. I'm not a CHS major but I still really enjoyed this class.
No study guides, if you do not go to class you wont pass, quizzes are 20 minutes timed on readings that do not matter, review sessions are poorly designed.
I absolutely love Amy fitch! If you take good notes on what she says you'll be fine for the tests. She uses tophat every class but add a bonus 10% to the score you get. The tests were very easy and there was only about 8-10 reading/quiz assignments.
She has amazing lectures, if you pay attention in class you will do good on exams. She uses TopHat so you have to be present in class to receive the points but she adds 10% to that score at the end of the semester; she also drops one exam grade (final included if you don't want to take it). Online 20 minutes timed quizzes and one discussion post.
She has a lot of experience in her field and really enjoys teaching the subject. She presents everything you need to know either in the lectures or in the readings/videos online. She allows one test to be dropped and cushions the tophat grade by allowing some points to be missed while still allowing a possibility of 100% for the tophat grade.
Ms. Fitch knows a lot about CHS and even as a first year Business student, I learned a very wide range of topics about Public Health as I took this class for electives. She is very engaging and the powerpoint presentations are very detailed. Attendance and participation are recorded on TopHat, so it is important that you come to the lectures.
Shes really sweet, attendance is technically not mandatory. She uses TopHat and sometimes takes attendance, and uses it for participation questions. SHOW UP, youll need to take a lot of notes to know what to study for the upcoming tests. Can be pretty interesting topics.
She is very clear on grading and the timeline of the class. Her lectures can be long, but it's an easy classvas long as you go.
She is a great professor. She really understands the material, and does a nice job of making it understandable. If you pay attention in class you should get an A.
Fitch is a great professor, very engaged and passionate. Lets you drop one midterm, or just not take the final. And 2 homework assignments are dropped as well. She provides all the readings, there is no textbook. Super easy entry level class.
Extremely kind, helpful, engaging, and very passionate about CHS. She makes the class very interesting and even fun sometimes. You use Tophat for participation/attendance, there are weekly quizzes (2 lowest get dropped)and 4 exams (lowest gets dropped and final is optional if happy with grade). Overall amazing class and professor! HIGHLY recommend.
She specified between A+ and A-. She drops two online quizzes and one test, which means you dont have to take the final. She doesnt give extra credit, but adds 10% to TopHat. However, while attendance isnt mandatory, it is important as she doesnt put up the lectures and uses TopHat for participation points.
Show up for class to do the TopHat questions, lectures were always entertaining she drops one test grade so that the final is optional and drops two quiz grades. Trust me you want to take her class.
She is a great professor; she is able to relate her lectures to relevant issues and make real-world connections, which helps with understanding content. She occasionally goes on tangents but ties them back into the lecture. The tests and assignments were easy, even with minimal studying outside of class. Pay attention in lecture and you'll pass.
was a great professor. defiantly my favorite class. she is very educated on the material and explains it in a way you are sure to understand. there wasn't much work. she drops 2 lowest quizzes and lowest test score. attendance is not mandatory but you do participation questions for a grade.
Professor Fitch is a great professor. Her lectures were always interesting, making her class enjoyable. She has weekly reading quizzes and four tests throughout the semester. However she drops your lowest 2 quizzes and 2 of your lowest test. This is cool because if you are happy with your grade at the end, you wont have to take the final.
Lecture's were pretty long but some chapters were enjoyable as my major has to do with health. Your grade is based on all quizzes and tests, and one discussion group. Make sure you get an A on all the homework quizzes. I recommend working with a group on the quizzes so you all get a good grade. Also, study for the tests!
Really great professor. Gives you all the tools for success. Just make sure to show up to class and do the online quizzes.
She is very sweet and passionate about what she does. She drops your lowest exam grade as well as a few homework's. The class can be difficult but she would probably be the best option for chs 101.
Professor Fitch has very long lectures, but she works to make them interesting. She's very clear about what material will be on the tests and what she expects on the assignments. She can be a bit snippy sometimes, but her kindness shines through.
Overall fine. She's very nice and funny, but I didn't get anything extra out of the class which is fine. Not many assignments, a decent amount of reading, showing up for credit is a must.
This professor is legit the reason I didn't drop out of college! Super passionate about what she teaches and honestly if people didn't do well in this class it's because they were the ones who were scrolling fb during class. Just listen to her lectures (they're good) and you'll do well on the tests. Weekly readings, but they're usually interesting
Very knowledgeable about the subject and has very engaging lectures. A great introduction to community health. You do have to study a bit for her tests however and make sure you take good notes based off the info she says during lecture and not just the stuff written on the slides. Great prof!
Really enjoyed and learned a lot from this class, Amy is a very good professor and is very passionate about her lectures which I really appreciated. When it comes to tests, its important to study everything you wrote notes on because it will be on the exam In my opinion its very important to not miss class because you will miss out on top hat!
There's no need to rent or buy the textbook since it's not mandatory. I rented it and never used it. Going to class is for the best since she doesn't post her lectures. Her lectures are long but usually pretty interesting. This class made me think of taking up CHS as a minor. Final is not mandatory and can only help you which is something I liked.
This class is so interesting. You have two papers (she is a somewhat tough grader). You only have one exam which is the final. Only two questions are based on in class material, the rest focus on how you liked the course. About 7 quizzes, DO THE READING. And you always have group participation questions so show up.
I loved Professor Fitch! She is extremely knowledgeable and cares about the class and her students. Her lectures are engaging and present content in an easy to understand manner. Go to lecture because she does TopHat every class and it is graded. If you go to class and study your notes, the tests are easy. She is great and I would highly recommend!
Her lecture is very clear and easy to understand. She didn't give too much homework, but her class is very pragmatic. The test is a little bit hard and it is a lot of information to remember. But be careful to take note more specific that easy to pass this class.
Fitch is an amazing teacher and really cares about her students. There are six micro exams but she drops your lowest grade and drops 4 quiz grades and 4 activities as well. The main thing I didnt like about this class is that you werent able to see your grade until halfway through the semester.
professor fitch is very good. she responds to emails fairly quickly and can answer almost any questions you have. she also provides you with all the tools necessary to do well in the class. if you ever get the chance to take her I'd highly recommend her.
the amount of work she assigns for an entry level 101 course should be illegal. the tests are hard as hell and the amount of details matters. this class should not be this hard. i should not be more worried about an entry level class compared to a chemistry class. i wish i never took this professor, and i highly encourage you to do the same.
Understanding and reasonable professor for the pandemic. She responds to questions thoroughly and incorporates videos and other readings to supplement lectures. The homework can sometimes be a bit much, but she knows what she is doing. Her modules are structured, clear, and organized. She is also sweet and smiles! Not a mean professor at all :)
She assigns WAY too much homework for a 101 class, she gives a ton of homework, her tests are super hard as well. She is not a mean professor but I think her workload is way too heavy and you will spend at least 3-4 hours every week to complete her homework. Take this with another professor if you can
i took this class because it was going to be easy, boy was i wrong. she makes her tests SO hard and she expects you to know every single detail she provides (which is an INSANE amount) take this class with a different professor to save yourself the pain of spending 5+ hours a week on just her class. she thinks her class is the most important class
This class was A LOT of work but honestly it was doable. Some weeks were easier and others would stress me out. There were micro exams every other weeks but were open note. the final was NOT open note so that was stressful. However I will say she did take the lowest exam grade and some missing quiz and assignments out of your final grade.
I took Fitchs asynchronous class and it was incredibly hard. The micro exams were difficult, the midterm and final were even tougher. I dont get how she expects students to know all the material given and then generalize the midterm and final questions in a free response matter
Her lectures are very long and it is sometimes hard to get the notes down because she kind of moves really fast. But all of her assignments are super easy, tests are open note (on 1 piece of paper tho) but very hard and there isn't much homework. There are a lot of readings that she assigns. Sometimes puts things that arent gone over onto the test
As a junior, I found this class more time-consuming than my 400 level classes. I only attended her prepared video lectures because her in-person lectures were too rambly and fast-paced. I think people learned more about her personal life than what should be on the exams. Exams are abnormally difficult, with a lot of fill-in-the-blank answers.
First of all she is RUDE. I asked her a question the first day and she brushed me off. She is also rude and condescending if you email her. She requires attendance even though she posts ALL her lectures online and you can get the info from there. I passed with a B but her tests are difficult. Inserts her personal life and opinions into EVERYTHING.
Has a few simple hw assignments throughout the semester. There are three exams and a final, one score will get dropped. On each test we were allowed one cheat sheet(front and back). The tests have lots of fill in the blanks, so write EVERYTHING on her slides. Attending isnt mandatory but ther are participation points which are part of your grade.
I was not a fan. Attendance doesnt matter but turning points will alter your grade heavily if you do not show up to the in class lecture. Very little homework but the tests were very loaded. Was allowed one piece of paper and no study guide to go off of. Fast paced and lots of information. tests were very difficult.
Amy is extremely rude and condescending. Attendance isn't mandatory but she gets angry when students don't attend class even though she posts every video lecture to canvas. She is horrible at explaining concepts and her tests are way harder than they should be. I have a higher grade in organic chemistry than I do in this class... DO NOT RECOMMEND!
Professor Fitch was really good, she cares about her students and wants us to pass. She offered lots of extra credit. This class was lectured based but online videos were given if you missed class. But you do better if you attend. She also chose to only test us on stuff she spoke on in class and not the text book which was cool.
Since this was an online course I can't say whether she was the best professor. There is lots of material, and she doesn't post study guides, which makes it hard to know specific material she is planning on putting on the exam. Meaning devoting more time to know the information. Otherwise she grades lightly on discussion posts and quizzes are easy.
This class was very lecture heavy. She only tests on what was said in class. Attendance is extremely mandatory because she does not post the lecture afterwards. However, she does give out extra credit to raise your grade.
Going to the lectures was mandatory to do well on the test, and it didn't help that she didn't post any of the lectures. There isn't a lot of homework, and it is normally pretty easy. She does provide other ways to raise your grade which is nice.
Her lectures are boring, but it is easy to get an A in her class. She also gives a long time to complete the homework which I appreciate. She doesn't post lecture notes so you either need to go to every class or have someone in the class send the notes to you. Sometimes things are asked on exams that she didn't cover well during lecture.
Huge lecturer and does not post any of the notes on canvas. She makes the study guides seem completely different than what is actually on the test and each question is worded impossibly. There are only 3 exams throughout the whole course and the rest of the homework is only worth 5 points so if you don't do well on one exam, you're screwed.
I like her PBH 101 class, but it is lecture-heavy because she does not post her lectures online. Her assignments aren't worth many points but are graded specifically. The tests are worth 60% of your grade, but you're allowed to drop one exam! PSA: If you are a pre-nursing major, this could be a filler class unless you want to have a PBH minor!
She is very condescending and can come off pretty rude. Her lectures are very long and she speaks really fast. You can only take notes from attending lectures because she doesn't post her slides. Be prepared to spend HOURS on this class. If you have to take this class I recommend taking it with a different professor.
Amy is am amazing lecturer. If you miss class she doesn't post the powerpoints online so it's up to you to get notes from someone else. She posts lesson learning outcomes for every lecture before class and I copy them into my notes. As she goes through her lecture she answers every single one. Don't take if you want to slack off.
This class you will have to time outside of class to study just because the exams are worth 60% of you grade. It is harder because she unfortunately doesn't post any lecture notes or slides. She thankfully drops your lowest exam score a couple of quizzes so it helps. But again it's crucial that you go to every lecture and study!
i had her for PBH 101. i think she's a great teacher! for her exams, make sure you study the lesson learning outcomes and you'll be totally fine. she drops 1 exam, a couple of homework's and couple of quizzes. i would recommend, just make sure to pay attention and take notes.
I took this online and liked it! Sometimes the video lectures are long and there is a lot to watch some weeks, but overall, the course is well-paced and easy to follow. Study for the exams by using the short answer bank she posts and writing down the learning outcomes. It's an easy A class if you just pay attention and take good notes.
She has amazing lectures. Attendance isn't mandatory but she doesn't post the slides so it's better to come to class. The exams were fair and she will drop questions if they are highly missed. She also drops the lowest exam and quiz. Overall, amazing class!
Fitch was an amazing professor and favorite of mine! She kept her lectures engaging and interesting every time, and was very passionate. In regards to the workload per week, at most you'll get an assignment, two readings, and a quiz. The learning objectives are basically what to study for tests and quizzes, and she cuts topics she doesn't review.
Love the way this professor grades, she is very clear with how she grades all her assignments. Make sure to read all her learning outcomes and you should be good at tests, they can be difficult you just need to study.
Lots of homework, easy to do but hard to keep up with
