She's nice, you won't regret it if you take her class.

This teacher is great and amazing, starts class right on time .There are only 3 papers due on a semester , gives you plenty time to finish them and also arranges a conference one on one to talk about the certain essay that Is due... at least 12 post are due on BB and most post have to be written from the topics we have study in class RECOMMENDED

Miss Flessert is young and smart, she teaches in an interesting way but she's always fake so I was never comfortable with her when it came to anything. However, she is very easy and clear but you must hand in all your work on time and participate just by attending class.

She is so nice.

Very nice professor, by far the nicest I've had at NOVA so far. She is a generous grader and as long as you show up on time to every class there is absolutely no reason why you shouldn't be able to pass the class. Also she's young, and attractive!

I have her right now and she's by far the most encouraging professor I've ever had. She's exactly what you'd want a teacher to be like; supportive, understanding, available through email, etc. I'd highly recommend people to take her class. If you don't understand something, even if it's something extremely simple, she'll be there to help.

Best English Professor there is!!! I honestly love her class. I'm currently taking her, and she's awesome. Class participation MATTERS! show up to class! Class is not hard but its not easy either. I'd say we write a decent amount of papers throughout the semester. Nothing extremely hard. She's always there for you! She responds to emails! Take her!

I love her shes an amazing professor. My writing has gotten so much better this semester thanks to her. She's funny and makes lectures fun. I WOULD RETAKE HER IN A HEARTBEAT. One word of caution : attendance is a big part of your grade so DO NOT SKIP but if English is a weak subject then attendance will help you so much. A is very attainable !

The best English teacher ever. Her grading for your essay might be a little bit tough but meet up with her to go over your essay and you will be fine. NO TESTS. A lot of group work and we discuss about variety of interesting things. I have always enjoy coming to her class.

Great teacher. Really cares about students, and is there to teach about English, not to collect a paycheck. Really interesting lectures, focused on group discussions rather than spitting out information on a powerpoint. TAKE HER CLASS!!!

I didn't do very well in her class because I skipped many of her classes which took A LOTTT of points off. Her class is easy and she's really helpful but YOU HAVE TO SHOW UP!! Participation IS A MUST. Do not miss one class and do okay on the work and you will do get at least a B!

Participation and attendance are important. Don't even get to class late or you'll lose points. You have to earn every grade you get, this is the kind of teacher who is trying to shave points down, not give you points for free. Put in the work and you can get an A. Her feedback on papers (the biggest grades) is not very good.

Prof. Flessert is by far one of the best english teachers out there! 3 essays,2 pop quizzes, 8 reading responses,for the final there is one mini project/presentation! JUST TAKE HER ALREADY!!! Just make sure you come to class on time, or else several points will be deducted!!!!!!

Professor Flessert is a great teacher. She explains clearly everything that you need to complete on an assignment to get a good grade, and when you have questions she's always there to listen. She also always responds to emails really quickly. She always offers conferences before every major paper and they are honestly a grade saver!

I took prof. Flessert for my ENG 111 and she was amazing. Very organize, respectful, energetic and clear with her expectations. Although she is very strict on timing, meaning if you are late for class she will take off your participation points, also she accept no late works. Highly recommend!

She is a very nice teacher, who is always care about her students. Before turning our paper, she gave us chances to meet with her and talk about our paper. In fact, she would read our draft and gave us a really great feedback. If you are ready to study and want to get an A, take her class. Focus on study and you will be fine.

3 major essays, 8 reading responses - short essays, 1 remix project and 1 final exam. This is what you have to do in this course with Prof. Flessert. It will be a lot of work, but you will realize your language and writing will change a lot after the term. She is a great teacher.

Professor Flessert really cares about the topic she is teaching and how her students are doing. She is always willing to help and she is very easily accessible outside of class. She is a very very positive person as well, which makes her class more enjoyable. Her classes are usually discussion based too, which is awesome for interactive learners!!!

Took it in 2016. Easier than normal HS English class lol three main papers and very easy final project and a test. 8 reading responses for the whole semester.

Good teacher, but tough grader. Barely managed a "B". Make sure you go to her revision sessions before the final of a paper is due. Will make a 2 grade letter difference for the better. Happened to me.

She is a good professor but she will give you a ton of work to do. I got homework to do every week. I spent most of my time working on her class. I've learnt a lot from her, but i wouldn't take her again. Be aware to pop quizzes. She is a hard grader.

Amy is a receptive and fun teacher! The class is structured to allow students to write about matters they care about. She's non-partisan and is open to any argument - even if she disagrees. She gives excellent feedback and is a fair and prompt grader. Be prepared to learn about MLA and do 3 big page papers and semi-regular 1-page writing responses

she is a very strict teacher I have ever seen. if you want to read and learn writing then I would recommend this professor, but if you lazy or don't want to learn and get easy A, she is not for you. but, I like her very much I learned a lot from her. however, i managed to get B

I've only had her for three weeks and so far, she's a very good professor. Expect to be assigned writings and readings after every class meeting. She's strict with what she expects but she doesn't do it so we drown in essays. She actually wants you to improve your writing but at a gradual pace. Class discussions are often my favorite.

This is my first year at NOVA and I can honestly say Professor Flessert was very helpful. She gives weekly reading responses and a few essays throughout the semester. She gives you many chances to revise your work before you submit and I think its very nice of her. Including essay conferences and peer group review. Amazing teacher!

Honestly, I loved this class because she is very organized, literally tells you all of the homework and gives you a lot of time to do it. I see comments saying that she gives a lot of homework and is a tough grader, but pay attention and she'll give you the success answers. She also uses no textbook, so it saves you! She is helpful and nice too!

I highly recommend Professor Flessert's class, her assignments are very easy if you attend class and ask questions. She is so helpful and clear about what she expects for an A and the assignments were so much fun to do. She does reviews before you turn in difficult assignments to make sure you'll get a good grade. Some topics were sensitive topics that she wanted us to write about such as gender and sexual identity, discrimination of race, gender, age ect. 3 essays (100pt. each) HW (50pt.) Professor Flessert was my online instructor for ENG111, 8 week. We had two essays and a few smaller assignments such as quizzes and outlines to prepare us for the essays. She gives really good feedback on assignments so it is practically impossible to fail as long as you're proactive. Also, she is very fast with posting grades and responding. 10/10

I thought the class was super easy, although some might disagree. She really wants you to participate at least once every week or so. The two essays we did were super easy in my opinion but took some effort. Her writing conferences are really helpful, so GO TO THEM! The reading responses sucked but honestly, they were the easiest things ever.

I enjoyed this class. Ms. Flessert was very attentive to our online class. She was always sending out emails to remind us of what was due that week, gave good feedback, and responded in time. I would take her again if I had to.

I took her online class and she was my favorite professor. She grades every assignment in less than 24 hours every time. She will give you paragraphs of feed back on what you did good and how you can improve. If you are looking to take ENG 111 I highly recommend taking it with her. She also responds to emails very quickly and is super nice.

The course really helps you ease into college level writing! For your first essay, you get your hand held through the process, so you understand how to work effectively; I never had difficulty with any essay in any class after that. Generally a pretty easy class. The textbook is also free!

I honestly think that professor Flessert is one of the best professors I have ever had. I did and am currently taking her 8 week online course, though it is a short class, unlike any of my other online classes she has been sending out emails every week to update what is due. I had her for ENG 111 online and she was very nice. She was quick with grading and was very understanding when I turned a paper in late.

Prof Flessert is very nice and she makes you work for your grade. She def prepares you for what's coming if you're majoring in ENG. There is discussions boards, quizzes(you can retake), and exams. She is fast at emails and grading. She also gives good feedback. Shes understanding as well when you turn in late work.

She did a great job making a boring subject as interesting as it could be choosing exciting articles and essay topics. roughly 45 mins-5 hours of hw a week, it would only be on the high end of that when we were working on essays. She is a great English teacher. She splits up the three major assignments into many small assignments, which lets you receive feedback on each step of composing your paper. If you listen to her feedback, your writing will improve and you will be able to get great grades in the course.

Great & kind professor! In her class, there are 3 essays as well as a final exam which is fairly easy. Gives you plenty of time to work on your essays and does one-on-one meetings with students that offer very helpful feedback on drafts. Advice: participate in class discussions! She really tries her best to engage all her students in her lectures!

great professor, shes a classic english teacher. you can tell when she gets a little annoyed which is funny when youre not the student saying something dumb. her feedback is amazing, set up a zoom meeting for her for 20 mins and she will give you so much great advice. i hate writing papers but i got them turned in with either an A or B. 2022 spring

She is amazing and provides insightful commentary on all of your papers and clearly explains grades. However, her CANVAS is very disorganized in my opinion. It's hard to stay on top of assignments unless you go to every class.

Flessert is my favorite teacher here at NVCC! ENG is super easy with her, for her grading criteria is clear! She responds to emails fast and gives great feedback on papers. Do the work and class is an easy A. We had to set up a portfolio towards the end with ALL our work, so doing the work throughout the course is a must! She's very caring!

I took this class for my second semester and it was a big difference from my last english class during my first semester. Dr. Flessert gave great feedback on papers and assignments which were very easy and comprehensible. Highly suggest taking her class because she knew what she was doing. Very easy class too.

Her hybrid course is very easy. Weekly homework should take less than an hour. For big projects, she assigns 3 essays, a group debate, and a presentation. She provides a rubric and student examples for each big assignment, so it is easy to know what she expects. Essays have soft and hard deadlines, very flexible. Empathetic and memorizes our names.

After taking her class, I immediately asked if she was teaching ENG 112 so that she could be my professor again! I strongly recommend, very fair and gives great feedback on essays.

Dr. Flessert was an amazing teacher, and the class itself was very easy. Her feedback was so organized and I found it very easy to pass the class as long as you followed her feedback and turned assignments in on time. She is also very quick to respond to emails and very understanding! I highly recommend taking her with all sincerity.

Her teaching style is really good she gives you the assignment and then you do it. She give very good quality feedback and if you implement it well on you final draft, you can easily get a really good grade. This class is not that hard to get an A.
