Amy Grimm is the most boring instructor ever. I had a hard time staying awake. The material is easy to learn, and the book is more interesting than she is. She is unfair with attendance and if you miss a test your pretty much screwed for a grade. She can not be negotiated with and I would definitely never recommend her to a friend.
this class was such a breeze. it reminded me of high school all over again. she has no control over the class and is very air-headish. every class there is a powerpoint and just as long as you copy everything, you will be fine on the quizzes. there are 2 tests and 4 quizzes, and then the final "midterm" which is basically a test. easy A
This class wasnt bad. She dropped one test and one quiz so its not hard to get an easy grade. The tests are mainly all about her lectures and as long as you know the material in her lecture and a few concepts you should be okay.
Very easy A. She drops one test and one quiz for our class (but said she wasn't going to do this in the future). I would advise going to all classes, because many of the quiz/test questions come from the lectures. Even if you aren't into art, ART4 is very to get an easy A in. She was very entertaining as well, she is quite the corny jokester.
Umm, unless you love memorizing names and dates Professor Grimm probably won't be your favorite teacher. But if you do love worthless mind-numbing memorization of information, then this is your prof.
Very easy to learn from. Memorization is key in this class. She has easy to follow lectures. My advice is to sit in the front to avoid getting bored. Most test questions are from previous quizzes. She drops lowest test and quiz grades, and because of this, I did not have to take the final. I took it, but it did not impact my grade.
I actually found the class pretty interesting. For an art history class it's not bad at all. I actually learned a lot, and enjoyed the class. The professor makes the information easy to understand. She's very straight forward with what to study. Actually go to class because her powerpoints are highlighted in a way so you are shown what to study.
She makes the subject actually interesting, though sometimes I fell asleep in class. She does not grade on attendance but she does take roll. You should go top class anyway because her tests/quizzes are directly taken from her lecture. Very easy A. Also very friendly unless you text/talk during class.
Professor Grimm is one of the most encouraging and scholarly professors around. Perspective students should be skeptical about some of the posted comments from this forum, because professor Grimm is certainly a real college professor, who has an extensive reputation in the arts world. She combines informative video footage throughout her PowerPoint
Ms. Grimm is a wonderful professor. She is passionate about her subject and really cares about sharing that zeal with students. She incorporates the psychological perspective of many of the artists which really enhances student interest and subject material. Take! Put a little work in=A. Lowest quiz AND lowest exam are dropped. Great class, enjoy!
Really nice person, Seems to be afraid of people. Easy everything, BS papers work best. Art is a useless subject anyways so take her for an easy A
Easy and pretty clear overall. Attendance was not mandatory but CAUTION- yes attendance is not mandatory bc she doesn't give points for attendance but she doesn't post her in-class notes on Blackboard so the only way you know exactly what to study is from time spent in class. Gets frazzled easily, she can't handle people disputing grades
was really surprised with her grading, she's unreasonably difficult for an intro class. she is not straightforward. i got a B. she is stubborn with her unfair grades (i heard from classmates) but the course itself is not difficult.
Intro to Museums was a new course that was not prepared well. Teacher was often unorganized, or had a very loose lesson plan. The course goals were ill defined and hard to follow. The course asignments didn't complment the course goals. To many fild trips not enough time in class. Teacher was unforgiving when clearly her course was poorly designed.
ARTH110 was a new course specifically on museums. For a 3 unit course, there's A LOT of work(2 tests, 5 essays, and extensive required reading). There were 5 required field trips, including two trips to LA, and often seemed unorganized. The teacher was very helpful, fair, and knowledgeable regarding museums. I recommend the teacher, not the class.
The quizzes and exams are very easy as long as you attend her classes, pay attention, and take notes. She drops the lowest quiz/test, so technically you don't have to take the final if you ace everything else. She grades hard on the museum paper though, so make sure you BS a lot of interpretation. It was a boring class, but she's a nice teacher.
pretty easy class, just take notes from powerpoint. she is very passionate about art history which is helpful. highly recommend class, make sure not to slack off on museum paper. quizzes and tests are more than fair. Ms. Grimm is especially helpful!
Horrible. So annoying in class which drags and sends emails all the time. Not specific with details on assignments. She will mark off the littlest things on papers.
Her grading system is horrible. She counts everything 100 points so that will mean participation is worth as much as an exam or essay. Speaking of the essay she grades it harder than an English professor and docks off points for the little things. Also her use of the word "blenders" and thinking it was funny bugged me.
I enjoyed this class, however I an not good in art whatsoever! I'm not creative at all. Everything is easy if you try. However the essay and ppt. Presentation is graded harder. She's funny and bubbly! As long you try and listen you should at least get a B.
Her grading system makes me sick! Essay and PPT are graded very hard.Overall not really helpful. Not recommend!
She was a nice person but as a teacher...she was a little harsh on leaving it all up to us. The class mostly consisted of powerpoint lectures and she gave my group a B- on our group project. Her quizzes are super easy though and her tests get a little over bearing towards the end of the semester.
Ms. Grimm is a wonderful professor and made me very interested in art history. Her research essay is the only difficult thing. tests and quizzes are very straightfoward as long as you take notes during her power points. she really appreciates people who voice their opinion. never a stupid question/comment. take this class!dont forget to participate
Professor Grimm's ARTH4 class is really easy- if you show up to class and vaguely pay attention you should get an A. She requires class participation, but all you need to do is make a semi-intelligent comment about her lecture and she is happy. The museum paper isn't difficult. Good GPA boost!
All of her students are precious and beloved. She is really nice about some things but then super strict about others. Material was painful sometimes, but you can tell she really cares.
She's easy enough. She grades hard on the assignments (participation points, presentation, museum art paper, but her quizzes and exams are a breeze! Just take good notes (all the things she highlights on the powerpoints), study them, and they'll be on the quiz. The tests has the same exact quiz questions. Wish her lectures weren't so dry though!
Easy class and easy teacher just read the textbooks and study for her quizzes and you'll do fine. Put some effort don't slack off.
Terrible teacher. Wastes half the class telling everyone good morning and trying to get organized. Stupid grading system. Talking points are the worst thing ever and museum paper is graded hard. You can literally read the text book and not show up and learn everything better. She doesn't teach you anything at all.
Class was pretty easy. Take 4 tests, lowest is dropped. Take a quiz every few weeks. Both are all multiple choice. 1 presentation. 2 page paper on a work of art you liked from a museum of your choice. Participating in class is 10% of grade. I got a B, but with a little more effort an A would have been easy.
She is a pretty tough grader on papers for an Art History class. She also seems to get annoyed when students in class ask for help. Attendance counts. Need to buy book. Got a B in this class.
Amy Grimm likes to think of herself as someone who deeply cares for her students. This is definitely not the case. Amy Grimm is entirely driven by her emotions. She gives you a lousy packet that has instructions for all her assignments, but grades your work based on what she "felt" about it. Do not take her classes.
My only B in college. She bases grades off participation, which means raising your hand and commenting on how you feel about art. If that's not your thing, don't take her. I got As on every test and quiz and still got a B because I didn't do all the participation. Grades papers inconsistently. Test questions from quizzes. Take lecture notes!
The class isn't hard as long as you read do hw etc on time. But Grimm is very strict about the littlest things. She talks in a very condescending tone. She gives off a bad vibe that makes u not care or hate. She demands participation, it counts as part of the semester grade. professors should motivate not enforce. Fit for other jobs, not this.
The class isn't hard as long as you read and do homework on time. But Grimm is very strict about the littlest things and that will affect your grades. She talks in a very condescending tone, gives off a bad vibe that makes you not care and she DEMANDS participation, it counts as part of the semester grade. professors should motivate, not enforce.
Her tests and quizes are easy. Other assignments like paper and presentation are graded harder, but not too bad. She is very picky about stupid things and gets annoyed easily. Not a fun class, but it is a an easy A if you put in some work. Could easily get a B with no effort.
Grimm takes herself and this class way too seriously. Her grading is extremely critical and getting "A"s in her class is unnecessarily difficult (its an art class, for petes sake). Extra credit is a no (though she will shamelessly self promote her art exhibitions/events)and she is overall unwilling to help students who come to her. Save yourself.
this is by far the worst teacher I have had; I got an A on all my tests and quizzes and some how ended up with a B in her class.. She takes the taking points too seriously and she screws the students over with that !!!warning even if you do them she does not give you credit !!! They are worth 15% of your grade.
The quizzes and tests are easy because she tells you which works of art to study for in her lectures. But she grades really harshly on papers and projects - she'll deduct major points for the smallest thing. So don't take this class if you care about your GPA!
Grimm isn't as terrible as students make her out to be but she does have her cons. This class is easy as long as you attend lecture and study a couple days before. Participate every day and say something that actually makes sense. Don't criticize her or else you'll be sure to receive a lower grade. Work HARD on your assignments (harshly graded).
Quizzes and tests are straight forward, she takes all of the quiz questions and places them in the test. Besides that, she is a little hypocritical because she will walk in late but becomes furious at others. It's an art class, shouldn't have to feel as if your running on egg shells with her. Save your time and money and do not take this class.
She takes this class way to literal, she is brutal on grading museum paper. She is very uptight on exams and quizzes. do yourself a favor and RUN!!!! She should not be teaching! she is also a loose cannon!
You can get a B after getting A's on all your quizzes and exams and projects. Because the group presentation is worth 20% (more than exams) and you are assigned with 3 other classmates that you know nothing about. So it really depends whether your group wants to work hard or not. Don't take this class.
Got As on all tests/quizzes/most assignments and still received a B because of "talking pts." She said I did not participate/attend enough (showed up to all but 1 class). Totally biased and unfair about grading. completely unclear on assignments (even with a giant syllabus).DON'T TAKE IT. Don't buy textbook. Take notes on the artwork in class.
she actually makes me appreciate art a little bit. if u need help she will give it to you. memorized the pictures and u'll get a B. usually like 10 questions out of 50 on the test are from the book
Many group projects! Almost zero in-class critique time. Critiques in class would be helpful. This quarter's Blackboardsyllabus could've been more accurate-lacking up to date timelines and due dates. A true art expert, Prof. Grimm can come across to some as self important. However, she's caring and personable! Overall excellent class!
She is extremely knowledgeable and a true art professional. Class is not easy but super interesting.
The intro museums class shes teaches was terrible. It was easy to pass but I feel like I didnt learn anything about museum management. We went on a lot of field trips, the first one was all the way in palm springs. It just seemed like all she did was name drop museum people she knows and have us do busy work that she doesnt even grade.
Teacher is super helpful and knowledgeable. Good format. Lively discussions, small class size make it optimal for learning. Great class! Plan to take this class? Plan ahead: field trips, so set aside a little cash(maybe $50 bucks for semester-just in case), best carpool; challenging projects require teamwork; class goes by quickly.
don't take this class. Grimm is a hypocrite and a condescending lady.
I am sorry, but professor Grimm is a nice woman, but honest to God one of the worst professors I have ever had. She is not prepared with her material and her lectures seem almost pointless to attend but attendance is mandatory. She gets a lot of information wrong so you learn from the book. The history is interesting, but her lecture is boring.
Her lectures were wildly unrehearsed and extremely unhelpful, you'd have an easier time just learning from the book and not coming to class but oh wait, participation and attendance are mandatory. I really do not recommend this professor unless you're looking for a frustrating semester.
It was an okay class. Took it for gen ed, but it was an interesting class so it was IMO a very easy A. She gives pretty clear lectures and warns you on what's going to be on the test. Would recommend her for Art Appreciation.
Literally all you have to do to pass this class is memorize works of art, the artist, the year, and a couple vocabulary terms. Use notecards! She makes sure you have all the information you need and clearly warns you what will be on the test. You can tell she is very interested in the subject. Go to her office hours and she'll love you.
She gives papers to right and expects them to be perfect. Her lectures are long and boring but you have to go or you won't get participation points. She has assignments that she doesn't go over.
Very fun class! She is very passionate about art and all you have to do is pay attention and participate. Field trips required. She is very easy going and supportive of students. Loves to help any way she can. I highly recommend taking her class! She is a great teacher.
She is a very nice professor. Lectures are common but interesting. Test are not so hard, just need to know the date, media, and photographer of the images. Overall interesting and good class to take. You need the book sometimes but not all the time. Participation is really important in this class and counts for a grade.
Awesome professor, very helpful, lenient as the lowest test grade is dropped, participate and you should be good to go, two assignments are essentially EC, overall straight forward and an easy class for the most part !
I major in Art, and my Art History is really good. Got A on all of my tests. However she is not a helpful professor, bad attitude, not friendly and doesn't really care about each individual students. I was not in a good health and even though I gave her doctor notes she still reduced points and didn't help me catch up as far as lectures.
Prof Grimm is HIGHLY disorganized. Her lectures are long and confusing due to the fact that she continually goes on tangents. She doesn't upload her lecture to Blackboard or any other site so don't expect any help if you miss a class. She is unwilling to help, treats you in a condescending manor, and is unclear on what she expects from you.
She is very vague in the essay prompts she posts on blackboard but has very specific expectations that she has for the papers. She is not helpful when it comes to any sort of questions you may have. Her turn in time on turnitin is 8pm which I found odd since my other classes have 11 or midnight due times.
So this is a complicated Professor. You have to show up for class even though lectures are mostly irrelevant to assignments, papers and tests. There are only a few assignments which is great. But what is most frustrating, she grades extremely hard without giving ANY direction on what she wants. It's up to you to go ask her. Very frustrating.
You've got to work on her schedule. Contact by email has to follow specific guidelines, she prefers if you meet her in person during office hours. Tests are easy, papers are leniently graded. You have to go to visit museums, which is a pain. Attendance matters. Not the easiest teacher, but one of the easier graders. Class is pretty easy (ARTH 4).
I took this professor back in fall 2014 and forgot to rate her but will so now, personally I do not recommend her at all. Her lectures were very boring and not useful at all. Grades pretty tough for an art class, seriously I just took it just for a GE thats it, I wasn't trying to become an art major. She has a rude personality too.
Grimm is Grimm. There's not much more to it. Do the work, study for the tests and you should get an A. She loves art and can be funny at times too.
She is a very kind lady and makes the class interesting but she is a tough grader and does not clearly define what she is looking for in her assignments. Her writing assignments are only difficult because her instructions are so vague and confusing.
Complete psychopath....
She is super hard! her class is such a heavy load that you will never be able to catch up with the rest of your classes! hard tests and sooo much homework!
She expects everyone to come up with their own curriculum. If you ask her questions she shrugs then off. She's gone half the class. Let's her dog roam around. 4 weeks into the semester and we haven't done anything but sit around in our "groups" and play on our phones. Just awful!
She is a great art professor!! This is an easy A class
Professor Grimm's class is extremely easy if you just pay attention to what she is saying. Her tests and papers are very straight forward so if you just fill out what she is looking for, you are guaranteed an A. Also she is one of the nicest people on campus and she cares so much for her students. She will always help you out at any time.
The course is heavily based on the lectures given in class. It gives information that will be on the exams. She went off topic quite a lot and we would be behind the schedule we had. There were few papers that were easy to complete. A textbook was required, but I didnt read it because the lectures covered the textbook.
Grimm is very sweet and annoying, she tries to make the class fun but at the same time is really condescending. the class itself is very reading heavy and pretty strict. if you like being treated like a high schooler this class is for you. just get you homework done on time, not even a second late cus it wont be counted, and you'll be fine
A very strict and boring teacher in general, her reasoning behind late assignment doesnt make sense and gives no leniency when it comes to assignments.
One of the worst professors I have ever had at IVC. The coursework and exams are not difficult. However, if one is missed, then she becomes completely unreasonable and spouts nonsense about why she cannot give you the grade you deserve, since its all according to the syllabus. Dont Recommend for anyone to take this class , unless for credits.
If you want to be treated like a little kid.. by all means take this class. If you like being picked on randomly and asked to explain whatever she just went over.. this is the class for you. If you like high school all over again.. this is the class for you! Don't miss a single assignment (NOT EVEN ONE) as your grade will drop a whole letter grade
I don't understand the other negatives reviews. Yes, shes strict on late turn in's but there should be no reason for you to not be able to finish things on time. You do stuff through revel and she gives you WEEKS to work on stuff. You don't really have to read either, just google answers and do discussions easy A. Pay attention to due dates.
I cant understand the negative reviews, but just from my experience, I thought she was not too bad, actually a great prof. and if you just do the work and participate in the discussion boards, then I have to say it is an easy A. However, just be aware that she does not accept late work, make sure to hand in everything on time!
Professor Grimm's class was not very hard considering it was online. Outside resources were helpful but you can get every answer you need is in the reading.
Professor Grimm is incredibly condescending and treats her students like literal children. I felt like I was back in middle school. Her class is an Easy A and she offers lots of extra credit, but is also pretty tough on grading and has no mercy for students who are more than 5 seconds late to her class. Take someone else for your art credit.
Easy A. Like discussion posts and open book test easy. Test are just the power points which are open note. IDK why she has bad reviews like guys this is a GPA booster which will help you transfer to your 4-year with a scholar ship. If you want an A and a chill class history of photography is what class you should take.
She is the stereotypical condescending art type. I understand that art is subjective and not always easy to teach, but generally I found her uninspired and overly critical. That being said, this was not a difficult class.
For a photography 1 class is it really necessary to assign your students a 4+ paper for one image. This isn't writing class and the instructions are ridiculous(unclear) and all over the place. Easy class but the paper she assigns is lousy and useless like seriously she's taking the paper too seriously as if she's a writing professor like calm down.
This class is a literal joke. Why is there a paper assigned/ the instructions are laughable. She grades extremely hard for the paper considering that she's a photography professor. Don't project your failed writing career onto your students. It's clear that you desperately want to be a writing professor. We didn't take the course to write papers.
I took her PHOT1. Honestly she is a great teacher I would ignore the negative reviews. She gives great comments on assignments, responds to emails, and is passionate about art. Gives extra credit, exams on lectures, and lots of discussions. valuable class and easyyy
I am shocked to see her rating! She is a great professor in my opinion. She grades really easily, exams are also really easy. This class was a breeze. She seems really sweet and caring and leaves feedback on all of the assignments. She starts all of her emails off with "dear my precious and beloved students..." she is adorable. Take her if you can!
idk y shes getting such bad reviews. she seems nice and its an easy A
I was intimidated at first but the tests were extremely easy. Everything in her class is accessible and she provides great feedback. Don't hesitate to take her class!
Easy A but she is completely unreasonable, if you ever miss one assignment you cannot send it late and its not accepted or extended. I even had my counselor talk to her and still nothing. She has her assignments due 10:59 instead of 11:59 to confused every student I only missed 2 things in the whole semester and my grade dropped a letter grade
Worst professor in IVC, period.
I took this class online, and it was very easy. Every week we had 1 textbook assignmnet & one disccusion due a week. This is literally all!!! Also, the discussions are very informative, and you learn something new about art every week! Take the class you will not regret it!!! Especially if you have a heavy schedule!!! This class is a piece of cake!
Worst Professor at IVC. Don't take her if can help it.
I've never spoken to such a bitter and useless professor. She is the perfect example of someone who must hate their career. Received a 0/100 on a project because I didn't submit my work in the right format (By accident). She felt disrespected that I asked her to reconsider. Someone should report her to the chair of her department!
The art history class that I took was very straight forward. If you put in the effort you passed the class. The entire class consisted of a guided online textbook reading followed by a 3-4 question quiz per section and a discussion post. These two things were done every week and were filled with interesting content. I highly recommend this class.
Seriously, so easy. Everything was done online with a purchase of Pearson reading and quizzes. So be ready to purchase a Pearson account as well. 1 Discussion board each week with reading quizzes. Easy A.
Some of the bad reviews are honestly from people who do not try. Tests are open note and she gives you more than half of the content in study materials. The paper is the only hard assignment, but I was communicating with her to make sure I was doing it correct and got a decent score. Do the discussions, make quizlets for the tests and its an easy A
Class used Revel for readings, writing, and quizzes which are easy. Then there are fun discussions where we have discussions about art. Also, Professor Grimm sends out email reminders and refers to her students as "my precious and beloved students" and it's the sweetest thing ever. Love her.
Her teaching style was really effective and she was able to explain the material clearly. The class was online only, we did weekly assignments including tests every week and we didn't have to meet. She wrote canvas messages to everyone in her class and she responded right away when I emailed her.
This woman is very unreasonable and unfair. When you encounter major factors that makes you unable to submit your main paper, she will still not agree with you to resubmit it. So mean
A very hateful person. She makes you hate art. Save you time, money and energy. Avoid her, please.
She's completely unreasonable about missed assignments. People today are faced with the global pandemic, the upcoming recession, and a mass mental health crisis and you won't consider letting your students turn in late work?? Really messed up. I hope she reevaluates her stance on late work for the sake of future students.
I'll keep it simple: -Gives you a "Chicago" paper with Vague instructions. Average grade was a 70. Was much harder than a WR1/2 essay. -Class is easy in terms of work but the professor makes this unbearable. -ALOT of memorizing on the test -Listen to the red reviews because I didn't. I gave her a chance and I regret it.
The class itself was really easy, no lectures, discussions took up most of the work. Idk if it's because the coursework is too easy, she's really harsh about certain things and can cost you a letter grade. She absolutely doesn't accept late work, even if its by hours and if it means youll fail. She also takes off a lot of points for minute things.
She's honestly really nice and provided good feedback. There was one discussion a week and several mini quizzes and assignments that went along with the readings, but they were pretty easy. I had a heavy course load and this class was not too overwhelming!
There is a ton of reading, and the professor won't work on deadlines with students who are taking on extra-curriculars for IVC, although IVC makes money off of us doing so. If you have a very busy schedule, don't take this course. There is no chance to make up late work no matter how full your plate is, and deadlines are at random times of the day.
I've never felt compelled to write a review but this is something I have to inform future students about. If you do any extracurriculars, try to avoid this class. With the pace that this class moves, you would think she would be a bit reasonable with late work but no. Each assignment is a big chunk of your grade so try not to miss any work period.
The workload in this course is a lot but it's not too hard. But, manage your time effectively. There are discussion boards, lots of reading for homework, one easy multiple-choice quiz, and in-class work/lectures that didn't help too much just busy work. Overall, easy AP class with a easy-going professor just do the assignments and you'll be fine.
Don't take her if you value your time. She is passionate about the subject and nice to the students. Although her class was interesting, hours of assignments every week with very strict deadlines are not worth it. If you take this course to study the subject than I recommend it.
Don't know why there's been an influx of bad ratings for her. I took ARTH 25 online and the tasks she gives are very light and easy. Spend up to 30 minutes max a week to do it. Quizzes are on quizlet, most of the discussion posts are 10 minute reads at most. No tests, no finals. Her grading is pretty straightforward and clear. Easy A.
I took this class for a GE requirement. There's nothing surprising about the professor. You can't really mess up in this class. I remember the homework is just from the Revel textbook (it costs about $70? I think) and there are exams. Recommended!
This was the easiest class I have ever taken! There were no tests, projects, or a final, just a super simple multiple choice vocab quiz. The reading took a lot of time but the reading quizzes were open book so it was easy to get a good grade.
Very easy A, the lectures are boring but who cares. It is a free A. Uses revel, $70 textbook. Revel hw every week but very easy, u can open book, weekly quizzes but they are easy, discussion board weekly as long as u follow the rules she give is full marks. Take her for your Arts GE, no way u get below an A.
The class is fun, if you like art and history. But she is really strict on the due date! Especially, during the first week of your class, don't miss anything on her instructions because she will not tolerate if you miss anything.
The class is overall very easy however the paper is tricky and it is Chicago style. And it was graded pretty tough but besides that not too bad. Can't submit anything late though otherwise, you will not get credit. Very nice professor though and she is always happy to help.
the revel book is basically all ur assignments. You CANNOT make ANYTHING up because she DOES NOT accept late work under ANY circumstances, even if someone in ur family dies. Either than that easy class very very lecture heavy. shes passionate about what she does tho.
This teacher is actually so bad. She is way too strict on deadlines and it's really annoying.
Pretty easy class and a nice professor. As long as you have some sense of time management, then you should be alright. Just one discussion post a week and a lot of reading but besides that it's a pretty chill class. No late work but you have a week to do it.
First time taking full online class. Is what is described. Teacher doesn't really care about anything, just complete the work on time. Work is split between online textbook and discussions every week. No sense of empathy from professor. The kind of class you do because you have to and it's just there. Thanks professor, Saul R
The class has interesting content, but professor is strict on deadlines. Textbook is required, but lecture notes and unstuck ai can help with exams. Overall, manageable with consistent effort.
A very caring and interactive professor, cares about her students definitely. With that being said, she's not lenient about the workload of the class no matter what, that's why its good to get ahead and complete assignments earlier. Class is a lot of busy work, a lot of reading, and definitely rereading to get the quizzes right.
I would retake a professor position with Grimm. I took her hybrid history course with an online textbook and homework program. Grading wasn't strict because it was all based on the textbook and what you read. It was a lot of reading and answering multiple-choice questions, making it hard to procrastinate on the assignments.
If you're considering taking an art class at IVC, I don't recommend her. The grading is inconsistent, and she often assumes student work comes from AI despite genuine effort. She talks about respect but shows little interest in student participation or progress. The experience was stressful and even felt unfair at times.
DO NOT TAKE. She grades super tough and does not take late work, no negotiation. There is also a discussion post every week and you HAVE to respond to your classmates. Overall just a bad professor to choose if you want a good GPA.
I'm honestly so surprised at the other reviews for this teacher. I took this class as an 8-week fully online course and it was the easiest class I've ever taken. Homework is done thru the textbook which makes it super easy. Each week consisted of one discussion post and very easy homework for the textbook, no midterm or final! Would 100% recommend!
tbh i went into this class dreading it but it wasn't that bad. the discussion boards felt like alot but after finishing them you realize its really not. literally just stay on top of everything. every assignment is worth a lot of points and she does not accept late work whatsoever. tests are based very clearly off of the powerpoints.
I took her 8 week class and absolutely loved it! Her class is definitely reading heavy and there's a couple of quizzes due every Monday but her lectures are fun and she is a very cool person in my opinion. The homework is mostly done through Pearson but discussion posts are due every week on canvas. Overall good professor!
She grades really unfairly. Will not change your grades despite proof that it did not come from AI. Revise your essays heavily before submitting or else it will be flagged as AI and you'll recieve a 0. Other than that it's an easy class. Weekly discussion posts are very easy.
Professor overall is seemingly kind but is certainly harsh on grading when it comes to the ARTH1 paper, grading is done not based on content, but primarily on grammatical and writing errors, so put forward a large focus on the little details on the paper because it is not graded lightly. For that same reason make sure to do well on the tests.
The only thing that's super annoying about her assignments and tests is they are all due at 8am. Like you would think you have until midnight like every other class but no, it's due at 8am. It's super annoying and she does everything through Pearson, so if you dont have a device that's compatible with the site it's super glitchy and slow.
Everything is due 8 am. Tons of homework which the professor clearly does not even look at. Lots of work can be easily done with ai and she claims to check but doesn't really. Does not even consider late work regardless of emergencies. Does make everything due through Pearson which involves buying a $200 textbook.
W teacher, pretty easy and chill. Just don't miss any deadlines because she will not allow you to turn in late work no matter what
