She's cool, good sence of humor. The class is interesting. she doesn't really let you out early, i had her for evening class it's a 3 hr. class!!!

She's great, always willing to help, and is very easy going, while still commanding respect. The assignments, are easy, and help you with the tests. The tests are straight forward, and multiple choice. If you need/want to take this class, take it with her, you can't go wrong.

Really nice, but attempts to cover way too much material in too short of a time. Multiple choice portions of tests are reasonably easy if you've studied the book, but there are often way too many chapters assigned per test to learn the material well. Essay questions on tests are difficult because her wording is not clear.

She is a great teacher! One of my favorites at ElCo. You have to read the book and go to class, she covers a ton of stuff. She makes it all easy to understand though. I loved learning in her class.

Dr H is the best prof I've ever had! She is brilliant & very confident. Great use of technology: in one lecture she juggled PowerPoint, DVD, Internet & the white board! took the honors course with mrs. Himsel...the information in the general psych course is interesting and Mrs. Himsel does a great job of presenting the material. Test are directly from notes and text. A few journal assignments and written essays but all in all fair...as long as you already take school seriously...an easy A!

DR. Himsel is very entertaining and informative. Her tests are based from the lectures and sometime it based from the book. Her test questions are not based solely on definition, rather it is based on application. tests are consist of multiple choices and essay questions. There are 4 tests and 1 paper. an interesting class overall.good luck!

i took her psych 5 course online so i've never actually seen her in person but from what i can gather she is extremely passionate about her subject the only thing i regret is not being able to meet her in person. online..textbook used 100% she is on the forums a lot so she can always answer quaestions..stay on top of your posts!! and know all vocab

Very informative; she knows her stuff. Tests were fair (but difficult of me). If you spend enough time studying, you should do well. Just try not to turn in your essays too late...i could've passed with a C. FYI:The only downside to psych 3 (and phil 5)is that unlike eng 1c, you're required to write A LOT (no matter which prof you take).

Dr. Himsel is one of the best professors I have ever had. She does make you earn your grade but she teaches in a way in which you don't forget get what you learn. She is a great overall person and My best Psych professor I've had and I'm a psych major and therefore have had a few. All I can say is she is a must if you are going to take psych.

Dr. Himsel's class is not an easy one. She gives you study objectives and these should be your bible. Her lecutres clairfy book topics and usually is where the essay questions stem from. Attendance in mandatory and has you sign in to ensure it. Good teacher that knows what shes talking about. Very sweet.

Took this online for summer school. Basically the tests were all that mattered for the grade along with online discussion which was basic. The tests were just really really hard but you were able to take them as many times as you want in a 26hour period. You could use your book but they were timed tests so there was not time to look up all of them.

This teacher Rocks!! I really enjoyed her class! There is not that much work. I took her online class and it consists of a weekly discussion with original thought and a a reply to someone else. The test were a little tricky because you had to know the theory being asked. All you have to do is the work. I think she ROCKS!

Overall I would say it was a pretty good class. I wouldn't say she is an extremely hard teacher. Fair would be a better term to describe her and the class. Just know how to write essays and get them in on time and you'll be fine.

For an online class, there was a lot of work -- reading, quizzes, discussion groups, podcasts, tests -- but it forced you to stay on top of things -- really important for an online class. Dr. Himsel was helpful, understanding, and fair when the online text/testing software had glitches.

Her online course is very clear and concise. I do recommend getting the book instead of the ebook for easy access during tests. Quizzes and discussions are easy, but exams are challenging. They are timed, so not much time for flipping through pages. Overall good course, but does require some effort. I still recommend online over in-class option.

She is kind of a hard professor. Her class is like a real college class. You do a research paper, have 4 tests, 10 reaction papers, and makes you do a wiki for every test. Though her class is hard, she is a cool professor and i recommend her. You learn a lot in her class.

Regarding online class: You're always busy but there's never a question as to what you have to do, when assignments need turned in, or how to use website. Prof is very organized and incredibly helpful. I would take more classes with this Prof for sure!

Class is sometimes interesting. She's really nice and her assignments are easy. Good alternative to English 1C. You write like 4 papers, but 3 of them are all related and the final one is based on the previous 2. Reading journals weekly. Easy stuff. Quizzes every two weeks.The Stanovich book is in another friggin language. Hard to understand

Absolute perfection! Knowledgeable, clear, accessible, friendly, entertaining, enthusiastic, and funny - the list goes on. Exams aren't particularly stressful or difficult, she's happy to help with written assignments, and journals add a unique personal touch. This class is EASY if you STUDY! Yes, she is great in class but you've gotta do your part outside of the class room.I'm finishing out with an A in this class. She is even writing a letter of recommendation for me! Take her if you're not a slacker!

She is a really happy-go-lucky teacher. Very "bubbly" and outgoing yet still helpful and thorough. I took her General Psychology class and it mainly revolves around 5 exams, each worth 100 points. Fortunately, she drops the lowest grade and she also offers extra credit as well. Her class is a lot of reading and studying, but she is a great teacher.

Professor Himsel is great. She's crazy smart and that showed from the first day of class. There also wasn't a day we didn't laugh. She's hilarious. With her help and with the SI coach's help (GO to SI! It's worth it), I was able to get 100% on our final test, giving me the grade I wanted in the class. Wish I had a reason to take her again.

Best online class taken so far. Very interesting and being able to do it on own time allowed flexibility with class schedule. Felt connected to other students with online discussions and enjoyed the topics. It is just as good and more preferred online than being present in class. Very positive, helpful and upbeat teacher, highly recommend!

Show up and pass, it's that simple. If you want an A you have to work for it though. Although it's not handed on a plate, getting an A in this class is far easier than most other classes. You just have to dedicate a little bit of time each weekend to reviewing the material to keep it fresh in your mind.

Professor Himsel is one of the most positive instructors I have ever met in El Camino. Her lectures on every chapter in the book are a lot easier to understand than reading it, and don't ever be afraid to ask her questions in front of class, she'll answer them with a smile. I took her for the spring of 2013 and I must say she is a pretty good psych prof. there is no HW, just 4 exams and she drops the lowest exam. the EC is what saved me I got an because I got the 5 pt. EC opportunity that allowed me to get an A in the class. She has an SI session so go to Si!

An amazing professor! Very passionate and nerdy about psych. STUDY the book and podcasts! I did bad on exams but did well in the essays and i got a B in the class! If you like lecture slides dont take this class. Most of the time, she talks without slides. Its a very independent type study class. 5 exams 2 essays. 60 questions. All theory based!

Well yes she changes dates but thats mostly for OUR benefit and her consideration! she is an AMAZING lecturer.. understood everything she taught and Im not the most perfect student. Since it was an online course, be ready to read. Take lots of notes in the textbook. Test questions are very direct, multiple choice tests. Very rare did I find a bias question. Only had to do one paper during the semester, as long as you do the ready the paper is easy, no need for citations.

She's an awesome professor who knows in depth about what she's teaching. Her lectures are interesting with a lot of stories to help the students visualize concepts. I felt like I had a nice challenge and fun at the same time from taking this class. The class required me to do a service learning project for a research paper.

I still have 3 more weeks of class but Ive been so impressed with her class this semester. 2020 has been a crazy year and she has kept that in mind and extended every due date by a week just in case any of us have been affected by the craziness of the world at the moment. All work is relatively easy if you read and study

It was a hybrid class, so it was basically online, meeting once a week. She's happy to answer questions, but doesn't hold back on grading. The tests can mostly be passed if you watch her videos and look at all the vocabulary (and understand it) from the textbook. Reminded me of an English class. She makes the research paper very straightforward.

Himsel is such a smart, savvy professor. Unfortunately, I'm a horrible exam taker/studier and would not do super well on them. Thankfully, she drops the lowest exam score and also a couple of the reading assignments. She is a fair and clear grader. Difficult, but in a rewarding kind of way.

I took her honors 101 class and it was not that bad. Your grade is not weighted, it's on a linear scale. You can miss up to 32 points total for an A in the class. Lectures weren't bad, but I always prioritized watching her assigned videos on my own time, and I focused on that for exams. Active recall will be your best friend. Fair grader.

She said she's going back to regular classes next year, no more hybrids, and that would def be better. And yeah, she cracks down on AI but even I could see that some of those online RWD posts were straight from chatGPT, its pretty obvious.

I took her Psych 101 Honors and the class is very informative and you will learn/ pass tests as long as you pay attention, take notes, and make sure to research about certain topics that you may have trouble with.

Since this is an honors course, it's quite challenging. To succeed, start studying WEEKS before the exam. I tried studying a week before, and it wasn't enough to fully memorize the material. Ask as many questions as you need; she spent 30 mins talking ab questions once, she's like your psych friend. Attendance is extra credit, so attend class pls!!

Lots of assignments. Lock down browser testing. She takes a while to grade. Read the syllabus. You have to pay for 1 online textbook about $75.

Took over fall and have great things to say. The instructor has easy to follow modules and did not experience the need for lockdown browser. Learned so much as she also has audiobooks which make everything from the chapter fall into place in your brain. She gives 4 extra credit opportunities and her modules are heavy but simple. Be ready to read!

She has three exams throughout the semester and then one cumulative final exam, no midterm. If you do well on the three exams, you don't have to take the final, which is what I did. Her exams are based only on what she says during lecture, so do not skip. Exams are so easy, just study your notes. There's an online textbook. I ended w 97%, so easy

Ms Himsel can spend another day discussing a chapter if we need to and accept that there's no time to get to a few chapters. So, it never felt like we were cramming lessons to stay on schedule. Instead, she makes her exams “last minute” to only cover the chapters we get to. The later online assignments (there's 3 total) do require more time to do.
