I really learned a lot! This is a great course.

I learned a ton in this Mountain flying class and she is really a fun teacher. I highly recommend taking the class.

She is the BEST! I wish all the flight tech professors could be like Amy Hoover. She is awesome and I learn so much in all her classes. She really cares about our success!!

I have learned so much in this class. I had no idea how involved it was to become a CFI. Professor Hoover is truly gifted at bringing concepts to life and helping me apply my knowledge and gain INSIGHT!! I wish she could teach all the flight tech classes, especially systems.

This has been a really hard class but I also learned much about myself and how I learn as well as how to teach other people. I liked that we practiced alot teaching instead of just sitting in lectures like many of my other classes. I hope I can be as good a teacher as Professor Hoover.

AWESOME class. She showed us how all our professors should be - too bad some of the other flight tech profs don't take this class then we wouldn't have to sit through boring stuff so much.

I thought this would be an informative class, but I soon came to realize it was an absolute joke. I do enjoy easy classes, but I also like to learn to broaden my flying abilities. Honestly, I would only recommend this as a class to build credits, not knowledge, because you really dont do a thing.

Well I liked the class except some students were really disrespectful. Dr. Hoover does a good job in all her classes and I learn a lot.

Took her mountain flying course and was so glad I did. She is an expert in the field and this was one of the most useful, practical classes I've ever taken. She also has a good sense of humor so topics don't get boring. Great teacher and role model! You go Hoover!

I have had Dr. Hoover for about 6 classes now and think she is the best teacher at Central. She takes the time to really get into the students heads to see what makes us tick and WANTS us to learn. It shows!! The CFI class is NOT easy but I learned so much that will make me a better instructor. Thank you so much!!

I was amazed at how much I learned. This class should be offered right at the beginning of college. Prof. Hoover really worked us to challenge ourselves to learn about ourselves as well as teaching. It will make me a much better CFI!!

Kind of a boring class, lots of busy homework. But she really does want you to learn and tries to keep everyone's attention.

The class was extremely helpful. I learned a lot about weather theory and how it applies to flight operations. Unfortunately there were a lot of immature people in the class who kept making noise and interrupting the class. Dr. Hoover should have been more forceful in kicking them out of class and not lettin them disturb the rest of us.

I love weather! Dr. Hoover makes it fun and applicable to flying and she really knows her stuff! An awesome professor with great stories and photos. Take this class!

Well professor Hoover is teaching us about all the fancy new navigation stuff. The distance education thing is bogus. It never works right and the students at Big Bend don't come in on time. The subject is good, and Dr. Hoover is interesting, but we should loose the Distance ed.

Dr. Hoover is AWESOME. She is the best professor I have ever had. Also, she is an incredible flight instructor. I wish I could have flown with her for all my flight ratings. She respects us as students but demands a lot and is very approachable. You GO!!

This CFI class is the best class I have had at CWU. I wish we had it earlier so I would know more about my ownn learning styles as we go into. Dr. Hoover really knows her stuff and keeps the class interesting. She challenges us and makes us work, but we really learn

Mountain canyon flying was absolutely the best most useful class I have ever taken. It will save my life. Hoover knows her stuff and is the guru of mountain flying. She is an awesome teacher too. I wish she could teach all the flight classes.

I could not believe that a CFI course was going to be so interesting. Dr. Hoover used the concepts we were learning to go to a higher level and I really get it now. She is an amazing teacher -cares about learning, and is thoughtful and goes over and above for students. I wish some of the other FLT profs would take her class to learn how to teach

Dr. Hoover is making our class the best class for our Vietnam Airlines learning. We learn about what our airlines relate to world operations and she is also funny.

Man, this class saved my life! Seriously. Hoover does a bang up job 'cause she's been there done that and lived to tell about it. You will learn so much about the "real world" flying in this class. The videos and photos are awesome, and I would recommend it to anyone regardless of your flight time.

She shakes things up every day (to get us to a higher level of learning) and I like it. Why don't they teach this class in our freshman year? I have already learned a ton and Hoover is the BEST!

The CFI class was my favorite of all the FAA ground schools. Dr. Hoover is the best teacher at CWU and I learned so much about myself as well as about teaching. It makes me really want to get out there and do some flight instructing. I only wish this class were taught earlier in the curriculum as it helped me identify my own learning style.

Absolutely the best class at CWU, and the best prof. She has videos and photos from the real world - and they prove she can walk the walk! I learned so much that I SHOULD have learned in my other flight classes - too bad it is just an elective because it could save any pilot's life to take this class.

I am so glad this class is in the curriculum, only wish I had it earlier. Hoover makes us really think about material instead of just memorizing it. GREAT videos of fluing in the canyons and stories from her own real world experience. Highly reccommend this class.

In this CRM class we took material that had only been memorized in past classes and we actually applied it to the cockpit and aircraft accidents and our own lives. We learned about how conflict resolution can make a difference and being tired and stressed is no good. Hoover is about more than just memorizing.

Easily the best Prof at Central. She knows her stuff and makes it absolutely easy to understand and apply. The tests are not easy, so just because you have them ahead don't wait until the last minute as they actually require you to think and problem solve, not just memorize. She is so helpful out of class and really cares about students.

I learned a lot about my own attitude and conflict style. The exercises were good and prof Hoover was always helpful.

Amazing information I wish I would of gotten earlier in my flying career. Hoover really knows her stuff and she isn't afraid to challenge you. I feel bad a lot of students are dissin on her just because she is the chair and blaming her for all the IASCO fiasco when it is clear she cares about us and our future. Hoover doesn't deserve it.

I wish Hoover taught more classes because I had her three times only in four years and she is outstanding. The stuff I learned will stay with me for my career and she really cares and is a professional all around. Students say bad things because they are told false information by the former flight contractor but none of it is true. Hoover rocks.

SMH-some students still spread rumors and lies certain (non cwu) people told about Hoover. None of it's true! She worked her tail off to help us, all while being attacked by idiots who tried to kill the program just out of spite. Face it - you lost on your own incompetence and stubbornness fare and square. Nothing illegal. Grow up people!

This was hands down the best class I have taken through CWU and it gave me tools to use that will one day save my life and the lives of passengers when I am a profesional pilot. It is about a whole lot more than just mountain flying and Dr. Hoover covers a lot of issues that we don't get in our regular aviation classes. Take this class!!

She really knows her stuff about aviation in general and also about being professional even when people are acting unprofessional all around. I found this class to be a great tool preparing me for pilot training. Dr. Hoover is passionate about her students and wanting them to be the best. Hoover Rocks! The projects kept class busy and not boring and her stories are the bomb. Her experience shows that she is a awesome pilot and teacher who I hope I can get in more classes during my central. I also want to fly with her since I would learn a lot I think.

The Baron sim was fun and Hoover three a lot of emergencies and malfunctions at us. CRM was harder than I thought it would be. She is an excellent flight instructor - a goid knowledge worjing base

Dr. Hoover is a great Professor! She makes the subject easy to follow and she is funny. She has great stories and is willing to work with you if you miss a homework or a quiz - as long as you don't try to make excuses and just fess up to forgetting she lets you turn work in late for partial credit. She is passionate about teaching and it shows.

Dr. Hoover is incredible. She is passionate and extremely experienced in aviation. You'll need to stay on top of homework and attend class, but she cares about how you do in the class, and goes out of her way to ensure your success. She also gives helpful practice tests prior to FAA stage exams. She's patient, helpful, professional, and fun.

Dr. Hoover always gave the class opportunities to review and practice for the FAA exams. Loved the Jepardy days. This was a good intro to the Private Pilot training and she even made the boring subjects like weather reports seem interesting. Dr. Hoover has great stories and she has a lot of aviation experience. Amy Hoover is the BEST teacher I have ever had in my life. She is generous an cares deeply about students as people as well as how we learn. Other professors just say "I'm too busy" and even though I see Dr. Hoover is busy she always makes time to meet with student and help us. In aviation she REALLY knows here stuff and has lived a full life.

Prof Hoover is an incredible teacher and model for how teachers should be. She is fair and expects students to meet the challenges of really getting into the depth of the subject, not just memorizing like so many of the other aviation classes. This was not just another airline prep class. It was practical knowledge I can use in all my flying.

I like the way Professor Hoover structures her classes. This was the second course in the private pilot ground school. There were a lot of quizzes and activities within the class which I feel helped me throughout this course to understand it better. Hoover always made sure the students understood the material and were engaged in the class.

Amy is a caring professor. You don't understand the lecture? No worries! She'll explain until you fully understand. She uses many approaches in order to help student's learn. Everyone learns differently, and Amy will explore every angle until she can get to you.

Big Bend students feel like the CWU profs don't care about our classes, except Amy Hoover who is very concerned we get the education we need and is extremely helpful. Her class is awesome and we learn so much, then she stays late and helps advising because nobody else helps us. Amy is accomplished bush pilot and amazing teacher.

We miss Hoover already on sabbatical. She is the best in Aviation and a guardian angel to students. So nice to have a prof who knows her stuff and really cares about students.

Dr. Hoover is simply the best teaching I have ever had. She provides a huge amount of opportunities to learn and engage the subjects that is incredible. Dr. Hoover does a great job of not only providing in class instruction, but also introducing us to ways and tools each of us may use to better understand or further engage the topics introduced.

Because of the COVID the University made all the teachers switch to online in only two weeks time. Dr. Hoover did an outstanding job of changing this course on short notice. I like that there were assignments every week to stay up on the material, and the tests were fair. Dr. Hoover was always willing to help out via zoom or phone.

Many other professors had difficulty transferring classes online but Dr. Hoover did an excellent job laying out the course in a clear manner. She was engaged with the class and was overall the most prepared professor I had this quarter. Thank yo Dr. Hoover for all you do for students.

Even tho there was a quick turnaround to go online this class was outstanding. Dr. Hoover always gives helpful feedback and the projects and assignments were helpful. I really appreciated the stress analysis homework to understand key concepts we will see at any company we work and how to deal with life challenges. Awesome class.

The class went online because of COVID and Professor Hoover made a hard subject understandable. She did a lot of work to help the class and we also met on Zoom for lectures and she was always available for feedback. Very much appreciate Dr. Hoover for being there for students no matter what the challenges.

She is very open to questions and does not hesitate to spend extra time on a subject she believes we wee struggling with. well structured here classes are and that she give us real life stories and scenarios, and a field trip to the maintenance hangar.

I will forever take the things I learned from her into my profession as a pilot, and in life! Sad will be the day when Dr. Hoover leaves Central since she is the backbone of the Aviation.

Amy Hoover gives a darn about her students and goes out of her way to help us out. I actually feel as if all of my school accomplishments are now being funneled into a tool I can use for the future. I wasnt sure how a CRM class wud work online but Dr. H. made it intresting & engaging. Videos/case studies/discussions were all gud and the stuff on stress mgmt really opened my eyes. Her feedback was quick and helpful. I sure wish the AV mgmt classes cud learn to do that for the online classes. Best teacher at the univ!

Dr H is the reason I became a professional pilot. Even when I thought I couldn't do it she encouraged me. She cares about every single student and will do whatever it takes to support you. She's an expert in everything about Aviation. Best prof and amazing person and she flies floatplanes!

Best prof at CWU and amazing personal experience. Dr. H. cares about students and goes way beyond the norm. The AV Dept would be nothing without Hoover and this class enspired me to be the best pilot and person I can be. Conflict resolution, communication, managing stress, fatigue, this class has it all. Exercises and games make learning fun!

I am so glad we got to have Dr. Hoover for this important class to start the entire aviation career. She is the best teacher I have ever had. She would explain things in different ways if a student did not understand, and always answers a question even if it was already asked. The Stage tests are hard, so make sure to study early.

Dr. Hoover has the ability to take otherwise very complex information and make it palatable for people who have little understanding. I feel lucky to have been taught by her. Hoover is legit. Best prof on campus and i wish she taught all the AVP courses. No matter how many times people ask the same question she is patient and goes over it again. FAA tests are hard so keep up and RTFQ!!

The course is challenging and I understand it is difficult, the way that this course is done is very well planned out. I greatly valued the use of external resources (everything that wasn't the book) that was used to explain the concepts as often just reading it from the book did not make any sense

The way Dr Hoover explains aerodynamics is better than any other resource. She can take complicated concepts like propeller drag or engine performance and make it simple. You better know the lift equation haha. Her homework and tests are fair and I learn a lot in the class.

Dr. Hoover is not only an amazing teacher but she deeply cares about students as human beings. You can trust her with personal information and she will not disclose it, only try to help. She respects students needs and is always available to support us and understand college students busy lifestyle and unique challenges. I hope she never leaves!

I have learned so much in all of Dr Hoovers classes. I will be a much better Pilot because of it. She has amazing stories of a lot of different Aviation subjects. She has a gift for being able to explain things in a way that is easy to understand. She's a tough greater but fair and her comments always help improve the work.

Professor Hoover is an amazing educator who genuinely cares about students passing. Her lectures reinforce the textbook well, and resources like Unstuckstudy and study sessions are super helpful. Attendance is a must, but the challenge is worth it for the knowledge gained.

Dr H is the BEST prof on the planet! She is so highly experienced and she teaches from her own expertise not just stuff learned academically. She literally “been there done that” but she respects every student as a person. She never talks down or disses anyone. And she is funny and all her claases are fun and motivating.

Dr. Hoover is an amazing professor, one of the best that I've had in my 2+ years of college. She genuinely cares about her class passing stage checks, check rides, and is approachable after class in case you need help trying to grasp a concept. While the lectures are heavily based on the Jeppeson books, they still help reinforce your knowledge.

Hoover is the master at getting to the heart of the matter. The way information was taught was especially helpful. Multiple different techniques were used to verify student understanding. A lot of interactive work during the class time which was a nice change for the typical college courses. A critically important class for career development.

Dr. Hoover is an amazing professor and although it was somewhat difficult as it was my first aviation class, I learned so much in these two months and Im glad I took this class early as there was a lot to learn about Aviation Weather. Lectures were straight to the point with stories and projects in between and the class was very well structured.

Concepts in this class will save your life because prof hoover has the experience and the examples from her own extensive flying career. Who knew backcountry flying took so much planning. Videos and stories are amazing and every pilot should just take this course even if they don't fly backcountry. Her own story at the end made me respect her more.

We learned so much about how to communicate and what our conflict resolution style is and how to be an effective team member in the cockpit. This is a MUST take class for all pilot students.

Dr. Hoover made this class probably the most important one of my college career. The discussions, projects, and assignments caused me to reflect on myself as a person and how I see the world and other people. With what we learned about conflict resolution and communications I will take this with me to all of my future jobs knowing I will succeed.

DR.
