Class is a challenge if only because its 7 hours of your week - 3 lectures, 3 hours of lab, and 1 hour of recitation for lab. Lab is HARD - most TAs are foreign and really hard to understand. Lecture is pretty easy, the only thing you need are the notes she handwrites every day for the tests. Lots of note writing, but class isn't very hard.
Amy is a great teacher, her notes are easy to follow and she is always willing to make appointments. Her tests are kind of hard, they cover a lot of info at one time, but if you take the time to study they aren't too bad.
Friendly teacher, used text book and invited students to reach out to her in her office if they needed help. Problems with her are that she crams so much material into class you are literally writing down notes from the beginning to end non stop, no time to breath or blink. She also writes a lot she says you don't need to know, makes it confusing.
She crams a ton of material into a lecture and the lab exams/quizes are not spaced out well with lecture exam/quizes AT ALL. She is completely useless at her office hours and it not personable at all. She seems to know the material well, but not the best teacher.
Great professor!
She knows a lot, and teaches a lot, but she's pretty rude. Like REALLY rude. Pretty unhelpful and also rude. Exams are hard, but TA's are helpful.
Great professor, takes notes with the class so they are easy to follow. Easy-going, tests cover a lot of material, but take the time to study and you'll do fine.
Great teacher, explains things very clearly and is open to answer any questions you have. Her exams and quizes are ONLY over information that was directly covered in class. All exams and quizes were pretty fair and required only a little bit of studying to get a good great. She is a good teacher and the class is pretty easy if you just try a little
Amy seemed to be very good at teaching the first few weeks of class. Her class got really hard. She gives short answer quizzes that will kill your grade. If you don't study every minor detail she teaches, you may not do so well on those quizzes. She is pretty nice though.
She knows her stuff, but makes the test's way harder than they need to be. study all the minor details on her notes. She is also very rude and cocky.
Easy at first, then very hard and lots of notes. Approximately 5-10 pages od written notes per day. She became very rude and cocky. Has too much info for quizes and exams. Recomend taking only 1-2 days a week if only option available.
AMAZING!! Her class is so fun, you learn a ton and she is a fantastic teacher. Knows her material! If you go to class and study, you will do great. Guarantee all the people who did not give her a great review is only because they suck and didn't study! I am taking anatomy with her because she is so phenomenal! Highly recommended!!
Bad Bad Bad professor, Has too much info for quizes and exams
Excellent professor. Very informative. Class is not difficult if you study and pay attention. Lazy students get the grades they deserve
I loved her class! It isnt easy if you dont study, but just make sure you study hard and you will be fine. I was scared going in to the class, and came out with an A. It isnt impossible! Just have to work hard for it! She is an amazing professor. Highly recommended.
Amy is a great professor. She writes the notes during the lecture with you which is awesome, you just have to keep up. If you just pay attention and study you will earn a good grade!
Bad Bad Bad professor, Has too much info for quizes and exams.
Shes a really great professor and is willing to help just ask! Almost always multiple choice but the class has a lot of information to cover so you need to study. I never opened my book in both classes I took with her and got an A in both. Just study the notes from class. In 2050 she writes them in 3310 its all powerpoint. Loved her easily my fav.
She is a very smart prof and is willing so share her knowledge with her class. I can see where some people think she is rude but when she is she has every right to. Grading is fair and she wont just hand you an A but every thing that is on the test are in the notes she gives. One of my favorite teachers at BG! I'm glad I was able to have her twice.
She is a really good teacher, but the tests and quizzes are not easy. Make sure to study for both when you can. Also be prepared to take at least 5+ pages of notes every class. Lab and final is practical not multiple choice related.
AMAZING PROF!!! I absolutely LOVED having Amy as my instructor. Her quiz/exam questions come directly from the notes she writes out with you in class. She really knows what she's talking about and has no problem explaining things in more detail. Make sure you lab grade up if you want an A at the end of the semester.
This class is not easy, Challenge at best, must study hard for exams, and quizzes. lab is easy. she knows her information but kinda cocky not the friendliest teacher. if you study hard and don't cram last minute you can do well in this class.
Second time having Amy, and she is such an amazing professor. Although the class is alot of information, if you study you will be fine. The students that hate her and hate the class are the ones that didnt study. I would recommend her any day, but you MUST study to pass her classes!!
Too bad She does not explain, she just read slides Questions very difficult and some are not clear
Bad professor ;(
One of my favorite professors. Exams are pretty much easy as long as you attend all of the classes and get the notes because the exam is everything from the notes.
Not the best professor in my opinion, she did answer questions when asked but she went through the information so fast that I could not always keep up with the notes. One thing I can say for her is that she was VERY passionate about most of the subjects we discussed in class.
To get an A in the class simply do these things: -after each class make notecards of every process & definition. -look over them. Don't necessarily memorize them. -Test time.. Just go through them and put aside the ones you don't know & focus on them. By doing that I ended up doing very well on all the tests.
Amy was a overall good teacher, you absolutely have to go to class in order to understand all of the material, but when you ask questions she doesn't explain them very well and expects you to know so much more biology than high school would have taught you, i recommend you take 1040 before taking this course if it has been awhile since you took Bio
Amy is an excellent instructor and knows her stuff. The exams are not easy, but if you put time in studying and going to class, it will pay off. She is extremely helpful and approachable and I would highly recommend her.
What can I say I'm a straight A student in Biology courses and hers aint one. There is no way anyone can say its not the instructor. She flat out sucks. Exams cover minute details about the course material and after taking this class twice and only getting barely a D I gave up and aced the rest of my biology requirements
She was an amazing professor. The ones that didn't like her must not have studied. It's a lot of studying but well worth it. I learned a lot an got A's on every exam.
Amy has been one of my favorite intstructors at BG so far. The test are not easy by any means, which requires some studying. Attending class is vital to the grade, as it is hard to catch up. She takes some material that is dry and makes it very interesting. I got an A in the course by studying hard and attending every single lecture.
Just handwrites notes and expects you to write them along with her. No teaching is done at any point. No classroom interaction, it's just transcribing what she wrote down and then going home. Find a more experienced professor if you need a bio class.
I wish that there was another anatomy professor at BGSU, because I did not enjoy having Amy as my professor. She made it very clear the first day that we pay her bills and that we don't matter. I paid $140 for a book that we don't even use except for an online quiz four times before an exam. I'm disappointed with this class.
Amy is an amazing professor! The class is very difficult, but her lectures are very helpful. She explains concepts in the power points very well, so skipping lecture is not a great idea. She makes it very clear what's going to be on the exams, and as long as you come to lecture, write down extra information she says, and STUDY, you can do well.
I was very excited for this class but she made it impossible to do very well in unless you are willing to spend 2 hours a night on the material beginning the day we get it. She is not very helpful explaining the content even when you approach her outside of class for clarification and does not give feedback other than you aren't doing enough.
Material is super interesting but is not taught in a manner that is easy to understand. The course is very test heavy. She is not very approachable and is not willing to help (just says I don't know what else to do for you). Really wished there was another prof that taught this class and biol 3320.
Amy Wagner is the worst professor I've had here at BGSU. She makes it very clear on the first day that we pay her bills and that we don't even matter. She was unwilling to help and even made me feel like I wasn't trying hard enough. Take this anatomy class somewhere else if you can. BGSU, please send her back to Firelands!
This class is challenging and I struggled in the beginning, but once I learned how to study for it, it got much easier. The TAs are very nice and willing to help if Amy's explanations aren't the best. The people complaining probably just didn't take the time to study. Amy made the concepts very interesting and her side comments were very funny!
The tests are insanely hard, even for someone who studies the material inside and out. Her guidelines are not clear and she does not respond to emails if she deems them unimportant (i.e. questions about homework.) She talks while flipping through PowerPoint but says the PowerPoints are mostly useless. Lab and lecture material hardly ever matched up
Knows her stuff and knows how to teach but expects you to know way more than you'll ever need to know for her tests.
Amy is probably one of the most intelligent people that I have ever met. However, she does expect you to be able to retain a lot of information. Amy is a very nice woman and is willing to work with you outside of class, but the only things that you are really graded on are the exams which are super hard. Be ready to study, but she's a great teacher
She was a very intelligent person and her lectures were very put together but exams were difficult if many lectures were missed. She is very willing to talk to students outside of class but there is no negotiations with grading or missing assignments. Definitely a more difficult class that I have taken at BG!
Amy is interesting. She keeps the class lively and interesting during lecture, which i like, but the tests are so hard. She teaches like you don't have other classes to worry about. If you're a biomajor make sure to not take it with other difficult classes. You will fail. Good person, not a thoughtful teacher.
horrible teacher. makes exam questions barely related to whats on her slides. absolutist wish there was another teacher for anatomy because she sucks
Overall Amy is a good person and very knowledgeable about the material but the class is hard. The power points have way more information than what is needed for the 50 question exam so you basically have to study everything. The lab is also hard but easier than lecture. Its a doable class but very hard to get an A.
I had to take this class and BIOL 3320. This class is not impossible, but it is VERY hard. You can't just memorize a few things, you have to know EVERYTHING and be able to walk through it and back perfectly. You need to study a lot for this class. Her exams are very challenging, so be prepared for a mental breakdown 7-8 times a semester (labs too).
Amy is one of the best professors I've had. Her class is not easy and you will definitely need to spend a lot of time outside of class studying if you want to get an A, but she is great at explaining complicated topics. If you do not understand something in class, talk to her or go to her office hours because she is willing to help however she can!
Amy has a bad rap but I thought she was a fine professor. Every single class is a fast paced lecture so I took notes before to keep up. If you go to every class, go to the review session!!!!, study what she says to, and do the online homework multiple times through you will be completely fine.
Amy Wagner gets a lot of bad reviews, but in reality she really is not a bad professor. She just expects a lot out of her students. Do not skip class because she does offer extra credit, and does extra review for the tests. I would say that you must review the power points a lot and the homework to pass. The only hard part of the class is the lab.
Amy is the worst! She will lecture over 250 slides but then only has 50 questions on the exam. Do not go to class. You will learn nothing. You have to teach yourself in order to pass this class. She is way to intelligent to be teaching because it is so hard to understand.
Only exam grades! So if you fail all exams you're failing the class. She skips over information and "comes back to it" so it is difficult to take notes. 3320 is a very fast pace class... so if you do not go to class you miss A LOT!
this class is hard she lectures over at least 60 slides a class and expects you to take notes on them all Dont skip class bc there was a point in the semester where so many kids were skipping and teaching themselves that she started taking info out of the slides so the kids skipping would fail. this hurt the whole calss bc we all used them to study
Its known to be a tough class and Professor Wagner goes very quickly through lectures but if you go to class, pay attention, and study a little every night, then the class really isnt terrible and is very doable. Theres a lot of outside resources she offers that students can use as well which are so helpful. Great professor!
I've had Amy for A&P I and II and (for me personally) I thought she was great. I skip around 2-3 lectures a semester and I still scored 82-96% on the exams. Her exams aren't too hard (except for that nervous system exam in AP 1 that was bs). Her lectures are fast-paced but she makes them about as interesting as they can be.
Many people give Amy a bad reputation, but I honestly think she's a great professor. The lectures are very heavy and she expects you to know a lot, but she does make them interesting! A tip that worked well for me: download the PowerPoint slides on your laptop and use the note section in Microsoft PowerPoint to write notes during class!
I loved this course and Dr. Wagner and do not think she deserves the bad ratings. Yes the class is heavy on lectures and exams, but it is anatomy, what do you expect? She has clear expectations and provides you with everything you need to succeed. Do the work and come to class and you will be fine.
Amy is tough, but if you work hard, you can get an A. Dont let someone tell you that she will ruin your 4.0. She can be rude to students if they dont care enough, though.
Amy is very smart and keeps her lectures interesting by including real life examples and stories. She doesnt provide any study materials and wont allow her GA to send us the study materials theyve made for us. The exams are difficult and if you do bad on any of them, your grade will suffer. She expects you to spend most of your time on her class
I am a medical student now, but wanted to take the time to write a review on Amy. In a nutshell, Amy knows her stuff and does an amazing job in lectures and you all are blessed to have her. If you are going on to a graduate program and take this class seriously, you will be one of the most prepared students in your program.
Wagner makes expectations very clear and her exam questions were always very fair and true to the material on her powerpoints. A&P is memorization heavy so there was a fair amount of studying needed but if you review the material she provides (powerpoints, etc) it is very easy to get an A. Wagner is a really interesting lecturer as well!
Amy is one of my favorite professors Ive had so far. You can tell she loves the material she teaches. Her exams are fairly easy if you review the slides she gives you. She want to help you succeed and learn the material.
Disclaimer: Class was online during COVID This class is mostly lecture due to content and class size. Amy makes them tolerable, but she does go fast and slightly out of order. I found it easier to watch recorded lectures to stop as needed. If I was in a rush, I could take notes from the provided powerpoint. Tests were always true to taught content.
I like Amy because she gives plenty of examples and is funny sometimes. The class is very fast paced, so I advise to not miss many lectures or you will get behind very fast
How to get an A: Voice record the lectures as well as take notes like usual during class. Go home and listen to the recordings writing down EVERYTHING SHE SAYS. Until the test, study what she said to be important and wait until she reviews writing down what she says to know and only study that. Having her words as your notes will make tests easy.
This class is definitely one you have to work for. Professor Wagner is a very good professor and wants her students to learn. It is not easy, but you have to study all the material, especially if you need it for your career field. She has high expectations and if you don't put in the work, you won't do well.
From the start, she tells you there is no extra credit, which she holds strong to. You can earn extra points in bonus lab quizzes which are very helpful. Her tests are pretty difficult and she requires you to know all of the information on all of her PPT's, which can are easily 80+ slides. She wants you to work hard for your grade in this class.
You need to do study the slides!! Very difficult if you don't. DO NOT TAKE CHEM AT THE SAME TIME!!!!!! No BS in this class, you need to listen to her as tough as she is. She knows what she is talking about. Just very straight to the point.
I love Dr. Wagner! I think she was a great lecturer and she always made them interesting and easy to follow. She really knows how to teach Anatomy to help you understand the concepts. LOOK OVER THE POWERPOINTS FOR TESTS!! All I did to study was reread and understand the PowerPoints and I got an A on every one.
It is obvious that Amy knows what she is talking about and is very passionate about it. She answers student questions fully and does her best to make her lecture interesting. However, she is very fast-paced and moves on super quick even if it is evident that majority of the lecture does not understand. Study off of the PowerPoints.
I recommend doing outstanding on lab exams because lecture test cover way more material and lab test are strictly focus on terms and memorization. Lecture test are memorization and understanding how the process works. I recommend getting study groups together, going to open lab and attending review session every week. 4 lab and 4 lecture exams
Amy exams are pretty hard the class itself isn't bad but you have to study and you have to study the right way. The are 5 exams and it has a lot of content. The class also has a lab that has 3 lab exams and you have to study a lot of those too. If your TA for lab isn't good then you won't do well on lab exams
Get ready to study. Your lab instructor makes or break your lab. I recommend doing really well on lab exam because it is just memorization and labeling. Lecture moves very fast and is very dense and hard to focus on important information. Lecture exams are way harder, and Mutiple choice. Lecture and lab exam are within a week of each other. Study!
Lectures are long and repetitive, everything is on you entirely to learn by yourself. Labs are completely memorization and tests overall are very difficult.
Amy Wagner is the kindest soul and amazing professor. I got over a 100% in her class, it is very doable to get an A if you put the effort in. Go to SI classes occasionally, study for bonus quizzes, and read over lectures before exams. I guess in this class you either got it or you don't
Amy is one of my favorite professors here at bg!! She really knows the material and wants her students to really learn. The content can get difficult, but if you attend class and study, you'll be fine!! Also, near the end of the semester when students stop showing up, that's when she gives extra credit :)
She is a great teacher. She goes fast, but is really easy to talk to and ask questions. I had to study a lot, but it was well worth it. I am totally prepared for my next classes. Don't let it scare you, just make sure you write down and highlight stuff!
BIOL3310 has a lot of material to cover, so the class can feel fast paced along with lab. However, there is very little homework except for an assignment to help review of exams. This provides ample time to review the material. Also class is mostly memorization, and plenty of quizlets exist for the material.
This class has a reputation for being difficult, but it is supposed to be. Dr. Wagner really knows what she's talking about and explains lecture slides well. Yes she moves quickly but there is a lot of content to cover. You can't skip lectures if you want to pass this class. There aren't many grades so attending lecture is vital to do well on tests
Exams are the easiest exams I've taken in my entire college career, besides Evolution exams. Don't let people tell you it's hard. She's a very nice and caring person.
Very clear and understanding during lectures. She made the lectures fun and engaging. Her tests weren't horrible, and she gives resources to succeed.
She is one of the most engaging professors I have ever had. The material is difficulty but that's not her fault. If you pay attention in lectures, study, and utilize her as a resource you will do fine.
Amy is one of my favorite profs at BG! I genuinely loved going to her class. Her lectures were fast-paced but still v engaging. Only grades are lecture/lab exams & homework, so studying is vital. The content is hard, it's supposed to be, but it's extremely manageable if you're going to class & putting in extra effort. Sad to see the class go tbh :(
Amy is easily my favorite professor I have ever had. Her class is quite difficult, but her lectures are so engaging and useful. As long as you pay a lot of attention to her lectures and try your best to not memorize, but learn the content, you will do just fine!
BIOL 3310/3320 were by far my favorite classes I've taken. This class will be difficult if you don't study regularly. If you do, the exams are extremely straightforward and an easy A to B. Amy keeps you engaged in the entire lecture with stories and course material. She has office hours every day and provides lots of material to study with.
This class is interesting because of Amy. She is so so funny and I find time in this class passing by quick. Make a quizlet of what she tells you to study for the exam and you will be totally fine, as long as you work for it.
Amy is one of my favorite professors that I've had. She always has cool stories to connect with the class material. She is great about pointing out the material that will be on the tests. Studying a little bit each day really goes a long way for doing well on the tests.
class was horrible, class average on each test was no higher than a C. She puts too information on exams, each exam is up to 5 power points each with over 50 slides meaning you have to know over 250 slides worth of power points, way too much information for one exam. class averages are a C on exams. DO NOT RECCOMEND IF YOU HAVE OTHER CLASSES
your only grades are exams, that cover too much. her lectures are 100+ slides and she expects you to know everything on each slide. never clear of what exactly to know for her exams and lectures are long and boring. not engaging in anyway, very easy to zone out. would not recommend if you do not need this class.
Only graded on 5 exams. very long lectures every class. wouldn't recommend if you do not have to take.
Good at giving lectures and providing a lot of information that will be on the exams. This class is difficult and you need to put in the effort when studying. If you study a lot you will get a good grade in the class. There are only 8 homework assignments and you can do them as many times as you want to get 10/10. Some extra credit on lab exams
Professor Wagner is an amazing professor who genuinely cares about her students. She gives engaging lectures and extra credit on low attendance days. This class is very difficult due to the nature of A & P, but Professor Wagner provides lots of tutoring and exam reviews to help you understand the material.
whoever is saying that they dont like her or thinks she is mean. she is not, she gives you all the work you need in order to learn and do well in her class, its on you if you dont do well. yeah her class is hard bc it is an ANATOMY CLASS its going to be hard!!
Super engaging lectures. Graded on 5 exams, 10 homeworks, and 3 lab exams. Make sure you get the max amount of points on the homeworks, it will help boost your grade in the end. Attend labs to get the bonus homework points... can also boost grades. For exam studying, watch the reviews she provides and focus on the stuff she tells you to focus on.
Lots of tests that took a lot of time to study for, but overall lectures were fine. She would randomly go on tangents about how "us kids" have it so lucky that we have the internet and other resources which is strange. But still good teacher that explains content well and sets accurate expectations for the course and exams.
There are usually 200-300 slides of information that isn't finished until 2 days before a 100-point exam. If you are taking other challenging and/or time-consuming classes, and especially if you work outside of school, you're going to struggle.
I have learned so much in this class! Grade is based almost solely on test grades, so make sure you study. It is a difficult class but as long as you study and learn the material, you'll be fine. There are SI sessions that are also helpful for extra help outside of class.
This class is absolutely ridiculous. Amy is intelligent, don't get me wrong, however, the amount of information she expects you to MEMORIZE is insane. There are a total of 9 homework assignments that don't open until she finishes the lecture (70-100 slides) and it makes it difficult to study for exams. Everything out of her mouth is on exams. GL.
This class was definitely difficult, but if you study hard for every exam you should be fine. Her exam review video has exactly what is going to be on the exam and more so I would watch that and understand what she is saying. There is lots of things she wants you to memorize so be prepared!
Professor Wagner is engaging and helpful, but the class is challenging. Studying regularly and using resources like Quizlet and Unstuck study can make a big difference. Attend office hours and put in the effort - you'll learn a lot.
If you study the material, you'll do fine. Most of the grades are from lecture and lab exams, with two bonus quizzes for extra credit in lab. She is easy to talk to, and the material is pretty interesting.
It is taught with the expectation that most students will go to med school. The prof is very smart, which translates to rushed lectures and material not taught at a undergrad student level. Grade is almost solely made up of exams, very minimal homework and no other assignments are given in order to help boost grades/learning outside of exams.
Lots of material, but she makes it easy to learn. Her lectures are very engaging. Pretty much your entire grade comes from exams, but they are very straight forward, not too difficult, and never have any "surprises." Go to/watch the review sessions because she tells you everything you need to study.
Amy Wagner is fabulous, and she is so funny. She tells us straight up at the beginning of the semester that her class is hard and tells us we need to come to the lecture to succeed. You can do good in this course as long as you go to lectures and take the time to understand the material. Do NOT try to memorize everything. Put in a lot of effort!!
Amy's class is very difficult, and she knows it. The lectures are boring but the information is dense so pay attention. Don't miss a day hard to recover. She will sometimes give EC for going to class. Go to the SI sessions, they are very helpful and cut down on studying. The exams are hard if you don't study. Lab is very easy and straightforward.
This class is hard, but as long as you show up and put in a little bit of effort you will do good. She is available to answer questions at any time and there are also many review sessions for this class that can help you with understanding content. She gives weeks for the homework assignments and they help prepare for the exams. Loved having her.
I loved having Amy this year! She has been teaching A&P for over 20 years, and knows it very well. She has good stories to tell relating to what we're learning which helps it to make a good connection. You will do just fine if you STUDY!! and go to class. She's very accessible outside of class, having office hours every day of the week.
Amy's a good teacher, but the class is very heavy with material. I was able to get an A but I studied for HOURS upon hours for this class. She offers extra credit for completing lab worksheets (so go to lab!)
Pretty straight forward teacher. She is very clear and you will always know what you need to know for tests. However, tests are the only thing that matters so study up.
Yes, this course is a hard one as to be expected with STEM classes like anatomy. Amy was a great professor and those who do not do good in her class just don't put in the work. She makes the exams on the information she provides effectively in class. I wish I could have her teach all of my higher-level classes. She does care about her students.
Wagner is an intelligent professor who teaches this course with the expectation that most students will go to med school. This results in rushed lectures where complex content isn't fully covered, which, for someone with severe ADHD, hindered my ability to retain information, even with 5+ pages of notes each lecture.
Best prof ever. Get her a job at Harvard. Or as a fashion model because her fits ATE. & I don't think she ever recycled an outfit during the whole semester
All i will tell you is you need to search outside of class. The lecture IS NOT THE ONLY STUFF ON THE TEST. the homeworks, everything. The tests are on paper. A 30 point homework assignment was 88 questions. She us a good teacher and uses metaphors, nice lady, offers EC for attendance randomly. Love and dislike relationship with her.
She is straightforward and explains well. You must do the homework though or end up with a letter grade lower. SI sessions help a lot!
This is a tough class, but she is definitely the best choice to teach it. She's very clear on how important it is to show up to class, but also doesn't grade attendance. She teaches well and provides you with all the information you need to pass.
I really enjoyed her class. She means it when she says you won't pass if you skip lectures- the exams cover material that isn't on the presentations so definitely take notes. She also had plenty of anecdotes to go along with the content which kept things engaging and interesting.
