Do NOT take this class if u care about your G.P.A or unless you are an English major by chance. Tough grader. Assignments are unclear, I read a review and decided to take this course with Mrs.Larsen anyway, big mistake! on the other hand she is a very sweet lady and always willing to help but even with her help you WILL NOT get an A in this class.
DO NOT TAKE HER!!!! Can't begin to explain how awful her class is. Toughest grader there is and she has no heart what so ever. Had to drop her because she does not care about helping you pass
She is a really helpful teacher! Although I would say that sometimes the assignments are unclear. The simplest to solution to being confused about an assignment is to stay 1 minute after class and simply ask. It's not a hard class at all! Easy A+ class just turn in the assignments on time. She's a really sweet teacher, super cool!
She is a nice person but she really is a tough grader and there are a lot of assignments. I did good because I did all the work, but they weren't easy. If you are a person that loves to write and analyze, she is right for you.
Assignments aside, don't take this course if you're going to miss more than 2 classes. She will drop you letter grades for poor attendance, even if you have an A+.
Pretty easy teacher, just show up to class, and do the reading. Overall easiest English teacher I have ever gotten.
She is very boring in lecture. socially awkward. very nice and willing to help. class is very easy with easy assignments. DO NOT MISS CLASS. she takes points off for missing class.
The only bad thing about her is that she says "um" a lot and seems timid, but she stays with the syllabus and keeps us informed. I finished the semester with a 99. Hard works pays off and she grades you on what you deserve to get based on your work. She just wants students to take their education seriously. That's not a bad teacher to me.
Those who say she's not good did NOT try in class. Hard work pays off and she grades you based on your work. She's fair, her expectations are no higher then expected, but people think they can go to college and not do the work. She sticks to the syllabus so assignments are clear way in advance. She does say "um" a lot and timid but she's GREAT!
Amy Larsen is a nice lady. But her assignments aren't always clear and you have to stay after class to talk to her (if she lets you). Many of her powerpoints didn't make sense towards the curriculum. Tough grader: 5 essays, 3 quizzes, 5 peer reviews, 2 presentations, a bibliography, plus some. Take another teacher.
I've takened Prof. Larsen last semester and she is awesome. Her class is very easy as long as you TRY. Yes, mandatory attendance is a MUST! 4 major essays, 1 portofolio and several minor assignments such as peer reviews(not easy but definitely achievable). My advice is to take advantage of the writing center if you know you're not strong.
She really a good teacher. Really quite and timid; a lot of people would talk over her in class. No participation POP QUIZ! She is a stickler on attendance and tardiness, so make sure you show up on time. Don't need the book, I just borrowed it from the library or took pictures when necessary. DO ALL ASSIGNMENTS, and don't bs she knows
She is very helpful, if you ever need everything she will be there. She takes attendance very seriously, so just be there in time. She is timid but very nice and respected by students.
She's very helpful, and is always willing to answer questions. The effort that is put into the work shows on the grade that you get. She is very timid, and gives pop quiz's, especially if the class isn't discussing. She also says "um" a lot, but you get used to it. Overall, she is a good personprofessor!
Shes amazing and always there to help her students. Attendance matters if you miss more than 5 days I can promise you will fail. But the class is super easy its easy to pass if you show up she make everything easy and clear to do.
Class is mandatory and she is rude. She doesn't know how to talk to people and gets nervous in front of the class. If you are nervous, why be a teacher? The textbooks are used for quizzes and references mainly. She grades hard and gave two APA papers and really did not know what she was doing because she was not familiar with APA.
class have about 4 essay and it is about the same topic if you want to write about it again. have to do a lot of researching to write good paper, pop quiz about 6 times need to read book to do it. but it you do the extra credit, it will cover it and will give you about 2 % to your final grade. recommend to use the written center.
I had her in the spring semester of 2015 for English 1302. By far the worst professor I've ever had. Very awkward, extremely boring, awful teacher and on top of that, she's a very strict grader. She has unrealistic expectations for her students. She's like a high school substitute teacher. I honestly don't know how she has a job as a Professor.
Attendance is mandatory and after two absences your grade will drop 5 points after every absence. She grades homework pretty harshly.
I really enjoyed her. Yes attendance matters a lot in her class and she is a bit awkward but she's a really nice teacher. Tells you exactly what you need to do to get the grade, straight forward teacher
WORST TEACHER EVER!! I would ask a question and she would tell me something but then tell another student the complete opposite and when I would confront her she would just awkwardly stare at me... Not helpful at all! Doesn't care about her students passing!! She unrealistic about her assignments and forgets we have other classes to worry about to
At first I was scared to take her class because of her reviews, but she turned out to be a great professor. Yes, she is a bit awkward, but she lays out the assignments clearly and if you do everything asked of you, you will pass. I got an A. Only annoying part is that attendance is highly mandatory.
A big prude when it comes for her to help you out. She does give big heads up when a big assignment is due. I didn't sign up for her class, I had originally chosen a different professor. Sadly, I was transferred into her class and do not look forward to choosing her next semester.
SHE'S AMAZING!!! Nice Personality! She gives many small pop quizzes. You have to read to pass the quizzes! Really AWESOME ENGLISH PROFESSOR!!! WOW!!! I would have her again!
I was a little nervous taking her class after reading some of the reviews but it was fine. Attendance is definitely mandatory and so is the reading (she gives pop quizzes over the material) You have 4-5 major papers. This isn't a fly-by course, you have to try. Her instructions are very clear and shes straightforward. She's average.
She is a great professor. I literally went to her office hours all the time so she could look over all 3 of my essays before I turned them in, and I ended up getting A's on all of them! I must say, don't get on her bad side. Respect her and she'll respect you. Work hard and it'll pay off, she's pretty cool when you show her that you care.
The down side about her: attendance is a MUST, not just showing up, also showing up on time, she counts tardies. She gives a lot readings and quiz over each one. The good side about her: when comes to essays, she's there to help. Explain the prompt, give you an idea on how to start, read over your essay before you turn it in to her.
She is very shy and awkward at times, but she is a fair grader. Expect a lot of work, do the work and you will pass. It is english class so there are a lot of essays you have to write, but she breaks it down into small assignments. Don't show up don't expect to pass. She will take points off if you come in late or don't show up.
I loved taking her class. She is pretty concise, straight-forward, insightful and helpful. This professor gives you the time you need to turn in the assignments if you talk to her. Expects you to show up on time and have few absences, else points would be taken off from your grade. Follows class schedule. Beware of pop quizzes. No tests.
Ms. Larsen is a great and spicy professor. She cares about the students, but also student should know that class is for a grade and not for FUN. At any class including Universities is expected to read and fight for your grade for a Easy "A" an "A" will not fall from the SKY. Do not be lease and Study. An easy A if Study well!. She is a nice person.
Terrible professor, this professor doesn't talk with her students and also when she talks to her class about assignments, about 10 time through out talking she always says"how do you feel" and half the time no one says anything. Professor Larsen needs to explain assignments a lot more clear.
She is a great professor! Very helpful and super sweet. English has always been one of the toughest subjects for me because I am not very good a writing but Professor Larsen explains things well and doesn't grade harshly. Attendance is a must!
Super nice teacher! Willing to help and is very willing to help out and is very understanding. gives a lot of feedback!
She wasn't that great in lecturing but she's not a tough grader and attendance is mandatory. Read or you will fail.
