This class was alot harder than the other intro to psych classes. She gave no extra credit which sucked. She was kinda boring, but had this unique yet weird humor to her. If you can take someone else, do it, if not she's not TOO bad.
loved her..funny and real real easy
Easy, very easy. Some interesting material covered in this class.
She was a horrible teacher, very boring and no extra credit
Definitely a good professor, though she speeds through notes a bit too fast and is a tad unsympathetic toward people who missed notes for someone who had the 8 and 9AM classes...
professor lefevre is so hot!
Shes a great teacher, funny as hell. Definitely can keep you awake in an 8 oclock class. Material is easy to understand, just read the book before tests and dont miss to many classes.
all she did in class was basicly from the book, just to show the terms again on board and make students copy, it was directly from the book! no need to go to class, just read the book and take the tests u will do fine, HER classes are extremely boring
No Comments
This is a boring class with no extra credit. If you can take a different teacher, do it. Savre is A LOT easier- tests n extra credit. But he's more work. She just does notes off of power point- thats all. Her review sheets are horrible!
Very easy class....she keeps it interesting and she's funny as hell. Extra credit too.
funny, straight from the text, go to class, study = A.
Definitely worth a ;) She has a great sense of humor and she's very friendly, which means it's easy to ask her questions. I recommend taking a summer class with her.
If you study, you'll get an "A." She is very nice and funny and I'd recommend taking a class with her. She is a very good professor and gives great examples and really tries to have us understand the material.
A good portion of the information is spillover from other lower level Psych. courses, so not much of the information is new, but her notes are very clear(powerpoint form) and she has a great sense of humor. A fun class to be in, even at 8.a.m. on a Monday
BORING. Gives nothing more than the book. If I needed someone to read stuff out loud for me, she would be the one, but teach a class? Take someone else.
man hater
very straightforward. lectures from the book and lets you know what's going to be on the exam. uses powerpoint; very helpful. i regret taking her class at 8 AM cuz i never went and my grade suffered. nice, funny teacher. just go to class...
Makes the lectures interesting. Askes for a lot of student feedback and group discussions as opposed to lecturing the whole time. Does tend to cater the class to the girls, you might find yourself very frustrated as a guy in the class, but don't let it get to you. She means well.
she a lil funny but if u get to kno her she is a really big jerk who only cares about herself. i show up 15 min late to my final and she would NOT let me take it and the whole time she explained why she laughed at me. i had her the semester b4 she remembered me too and said some comment as i left
Funny and nice. She knows what she is talking about.. and when she doesn't, she'll admit it! Oh and don't think that just because you've had sex, you will get an A.
once she collected xtra credit at the beginning of class but i handed it in at the end b/c i couldn't find it in my folder and she didn't accept it and started screaming at me and told me "too bad."
Weirdo
She sort of teeters on the cusp of being cool and being a jerk. She's extremely jugmental, and her attempts at humor are lacking. Occasionally she makes a good joke. Study and you'll be fine in her class.
Good sense of humor, enjoys lecturing which makes her interesting to listen to. Doesn't take crap from noisy students and cell phones which is a plus, I can actually stay awake in her class, as opposed to many others.
She's tough but she wants everyone to do well! so she gives review sheets and extra credit & if you do all of it and go to class you can get an A!
She is okay... from my prospective.. I got a B+ ( I am not satisfy tho ) the class was interesting. however Lefevre she is too easy irritate and impatience.her tests were not hard as u got use to her style.if u r the person who sensetive to words i recommand u not to talk to her in the opposite way.
she makes class interesting. cynical...sarcastic, i loved her. her tests can be kind of difficult. there's no mandatory attendance but you really do need to go to her class to do well
Very easy class. Take good notes and read the book now and then, you'll be fine. Her test are very fair, and she tells you whats gonna be on it in the review hand out. Go to class and do her pop quizes, they help a lot.
At first I thought she was a bit of a battleaxe but she seems alright, just a bit sarcastic. Better to have someone like that teaching a sex class than someone without a sense of humour.
I think she's pretty funny.
amy is an awesome professor. take a class with her any chance you get.
worst teacher i have had in suny. doesn't bring notes to class, asks unfair questions on her tests. i would not recommend taking human sex with her
lazy, unorganized, late to class all the time, and our grades still aren't up...the worst.
By far the worst professor/class i have ever taken in my 4 year college carreer. Many would probably insist she is witty, but i would characterize her as strickly annoying. Her opinions are so underdeveloped and not well thought out. It was like being tought by a junior higher.
Her tests were reasonable and fair if u read the book and take notes. But sometime she is kinda strict with extra crdts.
She is unorganized, late everyday, and is very simple minded. Some of the test questions are unfair because more than one answer is correct but overall tests are fair. She offers a good amount of Extra Credit. If you are looking for a class to enhance your education and change your way of thinking: dont take her.
Mixed feelings about this one: Nice, witty, offers extra credit, helpful outside class. However she arrived late almost every day, then would get PO'd if we'd leave when she taught later than she was supposed to. Teaches straight from the textbook, so I feel like I didn't really learn anything. Maybe it's cuz she's a biopsychologist teaching I/O.
Never has any teacher frustrated me so much. Prof. LeFevre wasted so much of my time by being late for class. And because she told us that we were "skipping" ch 11 when she really meant teach it to yourself, I am now doing so 2 days before our final. Love it. In summary... LeFevre is absolutely useless and annoying.
Mixed feeling about her.
she is verrrrrry frustrating. i have A's in all my psych classes and im doing well in her class but you have to pretty much memorize the chapters to do well on the tests....her tests are very difficult to understand, makes you feel like you're retarded jus tryin to comprehend what shes askin. does give extra credit tho. ALWAYS LATE TO CLASS N TESTS!
She is a nice teacher and gives pretty good notes if you go to class. She always tells you what the extra credit questions will be so you can be sure to get some extra points on the exams (which is good because they're sort of difficult). She expects you to read the book so at least skim over it before tests.
Always late to class! Is unprepared with her slides. Disorganized. In my class, she has no kind of webiste and takes a whole class period to hand back tests. She's got this really weird sense of humor and always talks about her kids. There are only 4 tests and the final isnt cumulative. The tests are pretty easy and there is extra credit.
always 5 minutes late to class.you HAVE to read the chapters thoroughly in order to do well on the test. but she gives good notes, and makes the material interesting
Gives good notes and follows book. As long as you take good notes and read the chapters you should do fine.
She's Always late, but she's very willing to help you during her office hours. She gives you extra credit that's ridiculously easy (ex:color of shirt). Her tests aren't that hard. She talks about her kids a lot, but it's a DEVELOPMENT course, so it's all relevant and very helpful to learn the information. She's sarcastic but it's funny. Take her!
mixed feelings about her. i got a 92 on the first exam... when we got our tests back she said "too many people did good on this test, so the next one will be different"... and i got a 68 on that one. late to class everyday (sometimes by 10 mintues). you have to do all the readings, doesnt cover much in class.
Shes funny. She does talk about her kids A LOT but it usually relates to the material being discussed. Cmon, she gives extra credit questions on tests like "What is your favorite color?" She wants her students to do well so just go to class and study before the tests and youll do fine.
She's a pretty good teacher. She talks a lot about her own kids. She uses powerpoint slides. She sometimes gives review lists before tests, which really help. She gives pop quizzes and homework assignments which can boost your grade if you do them. She does also offer opportunities for extra credit.
Worst teacher ever!! Always, always late to class. Must get the text book or you won't pass the test. So rude to students! Makes tests hard on purpose!!
Late to class alot but other than that BEST TEACHER EVER yes you may actually have to do some work to pass but its worth it extra credit is great and random so go to class and of course she talks about her kids its a CHILD delvelopment class idiots!
LEFEVRE = BEST PROFF!! I had her for intro, child devel., & human sexuality &always look forward to her class. Shes hilarious &its really hard to get less than an A in her class if you go. You WILL do well on her tests if you go &just look over your notes, its not essential to have the textbook for any of her classes, but its obvi. good to refer to
This lady is the worst professor ever, do not ever be absent she will not help you at all, she does not post anything on the internet and being sick will kill you, she is totally unhelpful do not expect anything from her.
This woman is horrible. I had her at 8:45am and could not stand to go to class. She finally figured out how to put slides online, but wont do them until RIGHT before the test. In class all she does is read from the slides. She also LOVES to talk about her ex husband, boyfriend, weird ex-inlaws and everything else thats IRRELEVANT to class. HORRIBLE
Mediocre teacher. Not the best instructor, but not the worst. Tests are easier if you have the book. No online notes. Goes on random tangents about irrelevant topics. And any lecturing she does, it is always verbatum from the slide. She's always late anywhere from 5-10 minutes; yet has a fit when you're late; this is true when taking exams.
Great teacher. Carefully explains everything. Large fan of using the textbook which is a plus because you can always access the info she taught. However, she takes attendance so make sure you go to class (at least in smaller rooms). Not a hard A at all if you read the book and show up to class.
Tries to be cool, is not. Not amusing but thinks she is. Doesn't teach as much as preside over textbook reviews. You could learn as much with the book at home without the annoyance, but attendance is mandatory.
A completely useless person! It?s hard to believe she has taught statistics before. She would read directly from the textbook during class and still make a stupid mistake while writing on the board. I not sure what surprises me more: that she is allowed to teach a college course or that she has the brainpower to get herself dressed in the morning.
People are far too critical of this teacher..Though attendance is mandatory and her tests are difficult, overall, she is nice and caring, and simply wants her students to learn, understand, and retain the information from the course. You can use your textbook and notes for exams, and she allows for lots of extra credit opportunities.
I took Amy over the summer and loved her. The class sucked because it was experimental, but she made it worth while going to, and I passed on the first try which was good enough for me!
Has a tendency to come across as very sarcastic and condescending at times but it seems as though she means well. Provides many personal anecdotes relating to the course material that are usually interesting. Her lectures follow the textbook but if you want to do well you must read the book. Overall decent class and good prof to learn from.
Lecture slides are not online so you basically have to go to class. Rushes through them sometimes and other times we fall behind. Grade based on 4 tests which are 40 questions, not cumulative. Need to study from the textbook too though. Extremely sarcastic but does have her moments where she shows her genuine care about how we do in her class.
Excellent professor, very sarcastic. Sometimes she rushes through the slides, however I find it more efficient to write down 'topics' rather than the entire slide and then read about those topics in the textbook. It's difficult to do well on tests unless you read the book. I don't recommend skipping this class, although attendance isn't required
I had her for child development. Honestly i didnt get anything out of the class. Everything she teaches is common sense (a 4 year old can do more things than a 3 year old). I never went to her class and i seem to be doing alright. You can get away with never going to class so long as you thoroughly read the textbook
She's a pretty funny teacher, but most of her jokes come from bitterness. Still, it's an entertaining class. The tests are kinda hard, but if you read the summaries to each chapter in the textbook you should be fine.
She's really sarcastic and funny, sometimes. The lecture slides are not online. She rushes through them sometimes. Tests are not cumulative, but there are difficult. She does have her moments where she shows her genuine care about how we do in her class. Definitely go to her office hours if you're having trouble. I wouldn't really recommend her.
Fun teacher, she definitely keeps the class interesting. Reading the book will help, but she gets all her test questions out of the slides from lecture. She doesn't post the slides online so attendance is mandatory.
It takes all of my determination to make myself go to this dry boring class. If you are a senior psych major DON'T BOTHER TAKING THIS! You will relearn all that you've already learned in everyother class. She is condescending AND monotone. It can't get much worse than LeFevre.
No need to attend class. Read the book, show up for the test. The material itself is very very interesting but honestly, take this course with a different professor in order to really learn about this interesting topic
her grading manner is horrible she takes off random pts & cannot explain why. she's taken off points because grades were to high in apsy210. I dropped her spring 2011 & i think i have to take her again she's the only professor. Asks the names of the rat in a experiment, hate the tests i can never prepare, ONLY class I've ever dropped & im a junior
attendance isn't mandatory but you should go to take notes bc her slides aren't online. she has some sense of humor, tests are kind of hard bc you have to read the textbook to get a decent grade. not bad overall though. shes not a bad person or professor
Class consists of 4 exams. There are 3 extra credit assignments available for a total of 3 points. No +'s or -'s for a letter grade. You MUST read the textbook to do well on exams which are quiet tough. Go to class and take notes since her powerpoints are NOT online. Makes lectures interesting and enjoyable.
Is 10-14 minutes late every day. Unorganized, doesn't know how to use a computer. extremely sarcastic. class is a waste of time, just read the book.Taught APSY203 stuff to intro to psych by mistake nd tried to play it off like she did it on purpose...?!?! Tells too many personal stories, thinks its okay to breastfeed in public.
Honestly, the material in this class is very interesting.I dont recommend taking this course with this professor though. She is always late to class, has a bad sense of humor, disrespects students, and has a nasty attitude. If you read the slides online, read the text book, and just show up for the test, you will do fine!
She's a really bad teacher... can barely hear her speak even sitting in the front. She thinks shes really funny but shes not at all.. in fact shes really annoying at times. READ the book her notes are terrible for the tests. Also, we here behind by 8 chapters, so she decided to skip most of it and go right to the end. Horrible professor.
Professor LeFevre is a great teacher. She has a fun sense of humor and is very helpful in office hours. If you come to class, take notes, and skim the reading, you will do very well in her class. She really makes the material interesting and she tells many examples and stories in order for us to understand it. I give 5 stars and would recommend her.
She is a great professor. If you go to class and pay attention, you will do really well. Her tests are simple and straight to the point, and she gives out awesome extra credit when people aren't there in the classroom. She makes great sarcastic comments that keep class fresh and not borning. I even fell asleep sometimes and got an A.
Attendance not mandatory but pop quizzes were given. Not responsive to students. Makes many assumptions that aren't congruent with data.
Easy A. She doesn't give you useless information. Actually enjoyed going to her class.
In terms of actual learning, LeFevre is terrible. In terms of an easy A, she's awesome. You can get at least a 90 on all tests without attending a single class as long as you study from the textbook. However, for someone who claims to want to "just help kids learn," I feel like I retained very little. Also, the pop quizzed were annoying.
Social Psych is my major and LeFevre made me dread going. Horrible instructor. She does offer slides that are incredibly helpful and exams aren't too bad, but she has random pointless pop quizzes about literally the weather. You'll learn more if you try to pay attention but you can get an A even if you don't.
Need to read the textbook to do well on her test. She puts her slides online and there were no pop quizzes. 4 exams, covered 3 chapters each exam. Grade consists of average of 4 tests. Easy material. 3 points of extra credit available towards final grade
Class wasn't too bad. Tests are kinda annoying. Half the questions you can figure out with minimal prior knowledge, some are nit-picky. She tangents off frequently. Attendance is not mandatory, slides are posted online, all the info you need for the tests is in the slides. You don't need to go to class. I did and usually listened to music.
Shes Sarcastic but funny, she is helpful if you ask. Tests are basically the lecture but read the book and do online component, practice material helps a lot.
Prof LeFevre is by far my favorite professor. She is sarcastic and keeps control of her classroom. She treats her student as college students so don't expect her to hand feed you the answers. Best suggestions are to read the book, come to class and STUDY!
I really struggled in the beginning of her class. I wound up with an A only because of extra credit and she definitely had to curve it, 50% of the class got a D or lower on the first test. She is extremely rude and condescending. USE THE TEXTBOOK and read all small details they'll be on the test unfortunately. Take w/ a different prof. if possible
The course is interesting and her exams are not that hard. Definitely make use of the text book, which does not mandate you to read, but it helps to read. As a professor, not a fan. She's very VERY sarcastic and not a help to students.
She's an excellent teacher with a great deal of insight into the concepts covered throughout the course. I enjoyed attending every lecture. Her in class discussions were always entertaining and she also has a unique sense of humor. Always willing to help and wants students to learn the material thoroughly.
One of the worst teachers ive ever had in my life. As a teacher she is lacking every needed skill and as a person she is almost as bad as she is on a normal basis demeaning members of the class and is mean and sarcastic. I would never ever ever take another class with her. She has single handedly steered me away from the subject of Psychology.
VERY DIFFICULT. Had to drop this class bc couldn't do good on tests. She is usually available. But the tests require you to study yourself. Her notes & lectures did not help me. No curves !!!
She knows what she's talking about and is very informative on the topic. The only real complaint I have is that the tests are super hard. No matter how hard I study I've only been doing mediocre on her tests. People complain that she's "mean" but that's all personal perception, she just doesn't baby you. We're in college.
I think people give her too much criticism. Her lectures are somewhat interesting and she includes her own personal anecdotes along with the course material. This class takes some work, but it's not difficult to succeed if you study a few days before the test. I feel like most students who do poorly are not using the textbook. Overall, good class.
one of the best professors. funny and helpful lady. However, her exams are a nightmare! They are multiple choice, but 3 out of the 4 choices are the same, so you have to really know your stuff. If you want to pass the course, go to class so you don't miss her "extra credit points" and take notes on her slides a lot of information is used for tests.
Tests are really tough because most of the response choices are similar. All the info you need is on her slides, which she uploads, and the textbook (textbook is mandatory). She is helpful during class and during office hours. Oh, and my class mostly failed or almost failed for a bunch of the exams. We had a curve.
If you don't like sarcasm then you probably won't like her, lectures can get pretty boring because she literally reads off the slide, but she does randomly give extra credit so you should definitely show up. Tests are HARD! make sure you read the textbook!! she does not just test based on memorization she actually wants to make sure you understand
Amy is a very sarcastic person. She has a really dry sense of humor. A lot of students didnt seem to catch on to her jokes. Her tests are really based on the lectures, and if you dont go to class, you wont get a lot of the information. Her slides get posted online, but you really have to listen to her. Shes very straightforward, too.
Prof Lefevre is a great professor. She is invested in the success of her students. If the style of the class that is presented isn't working for the students she is more then willing to adjust and go with what works. She does have a pretty dry sense of humor but I enjoyed her humor and her approach, it was a nice change from the usual.
Professor LeFevre was awesome from start to finish! I loved her class and she made the material easy to understand. You must show up to class in order to attain a good grade, but that is to be expected considered its a college class. If I had a chance I would take her class again and I really appreciated her humor throughout the semester.
